    « Fantastic staff »

Spent 1 night at this lovely property in the village of Wroxton. Room was comfortable and clean with tea and coffee making facilities and free toiletries. Very good food - ate from the lounge menu in the evening and a full English breakfast was included in our room price the next morning. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff - every staff member we came into contact with was professional and charming. Will definitely make a return visit.

    « Limited on Mondays »

We needed a a place to eat a family lunch near Banbury on a Monday and Wroxton House seemed the best choice. The helpful receptionist warned me on the phone that the Lounge Bar menu only would be available at Monday lunchtime which was disappointing but at least it wasn't closed, like many! We were given a very friendly welcome and our table was in a spacious, comfortable alcove, just right for a family catch-up. The Starters were all excellent, particularly the prawn salad. The Mains we chose were quite boring, fish and chips pronounced alright, beefburgers too but the mushroom and spinach tagliatelle I had was tasteless and not a success. The bits of spinach were hard. I am not a vegetarian so perhaps chose the wrong dish. We were all too full for a pudding, which was a shame, as they looked tempting. Coffee was good and chocolates came with it. The food was all well presented. If I were in the Banbury area again I would certainly try the restaurant menu. The hotel generally seemed well run and a pleasant place to be.

    « Lovely hotel »

Lovely hotel, our room was spotless, spacious and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant but from the lounge menu, the food was excellent, as was breakfast. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. All this for a good price. We will definitely return.

    « Absolutely brilliant! »

Greeted by welcoming and professional staff who genuinely cared about us and our stay. We ate in the restaurant and had three courses. The food was delicious. Staff attentive and friendly. Such a lovely, relaxing atmosphere and I can't praise the staff highly enough.

« Lovely place to stay »

My husband and I received a lovely warm welcome when we arrived on Monday 14 November. The staff at the hotel were really friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was really comfortable and extremely clean. We had dinner at the hotel and we couldn't fault it at all. I had the smoked eel to start with followed by the beef (which just melted in my mouth as I ate it) and the apple desert which was scrummy. Breakfast the next morning was just as nice. We will definitely be staying at this hotel again.

    « Delightful hotel »

What a delightful hotel. We received a charming welcome. The room was spotlessly clean, comfy and well appointed. The food in the restaurant was a joy, beautifully presented and served. The quail was wonderful! Service throughout our stay was lovely. A real gem.

« Perfect place to stay »

We arrived on Friday afternoon to a very warm welcome and from that moment on we had the most relaxing stay for the next 2 nights. The staff were all amazing and looked after us with an impressive level of service and the food was to die for. Cant recommend this hotel enough and will certainly be visiting again very soon

« Fantastic country hotel just five minutes drive from Banbury town centre »

Lovely friendly staff who went out of their way to make it a memorable stay to celebrate my partners birthday Quality shines through the hotel-the food, service, and lovely touches in the rooms Will definitely stay again and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough Gill

    « A gem! »

Stayed one night on my own. Impressive level of service, staff made me feel welcome and clearly cared about their guests. Check in was swift friendly and efficient, hotel nicely decorated and very clean. Good sized room, immaculately clean, temperatures spot on. Evening meal in lounge bar, lovely food and good service. Only two little niggles, which I didn't mention whilst staying. The plumbing gets very noisy next to room 31 whenever someone has a shower! Not great at 5.30am! I also found the pillows to be a bit too firm for me, but that's a personal choice. Definitely recommend this hotel, but perhaps avoid room 31 unless you want to be woken at silly o'clock!

« Fantastic Place to stay »

regular visitor due to work. lovely friendly staff, rooms are comfortable, food tastey and location remote but great . can't recommend enough. Best hotel near Banbury, if you don't need to be in town. worth the small drive.

« Accommodation and service very good but food was disappointing »

I have stayed at this hotel several times and the accommodation was very good as always. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. The service was very good, the staff are very accommodating and go out of their way to try and meet your needs and make your stay enjoyable. In the past the food has been very good but this time it was disappointing. There was a limited selection at breakfast with items previously served which were no longer provided e.g. Fresh bread. There was no variety in the vegetables severed with lunch and dinner each day and the food that was served was not up to the restaurants previous standard.

    5
    « Wonderful! »

Wonderful Best Western! Old world charm with a thatched roof. Spotless comfortable room with a large well lit bathroom, friendly and helpful staff. The only negative, I could hear the person next door talking on the phone, after the conversation was finished it was very quiet so no problems sleeping. The restaurant could have had a larger dinner selection however our order was very good and well prepared. Breakfast was good and well prepared also. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Wow - what a find! »

Wroxton House hotel is situated in a village near Banbury. We spent three nights at the hotel last weekend and were extremely well looked after. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Quite why the weird photo wallpaper was chosen for one wall did seem a bit strange. From the moment we arrived the staff were exceptional. Every one was cheerful, friendly, polite, helpful and professional. Dinner choices were good. Meals were lovingly prepared and presented - with service that was spot on! A minor disappointment was the absence of the 'cooked to order' breakfast we had enjoyed on the Friday (smoked haddock & poach eggs, delish) as on Saturday and Sunday morning a buffet table was set up in the restaurant, which made the meal a wee bit ordinary. We greatly enjoyed our visit to Upton House (NT property) nearby, Blenheim Palace and a wander into Banbury to see a fine lady on a white horse of course. Thank you to everyone at Wroxton House for a splendid stay - we will return again next summer to see the village and gardens in bloom.

    « Excellent customer service »

The staff couldn't possibly have been friendlier, and facilities were more like a 5-star hotel ( than the 3-star it is supposed to be) Would recommend to anyone, They have a new chef, and he attention to details at the breakfasts was impressive. It's on a main road from Banbury to Stratford upon Avon but you cannot hear the traffic.

« Hidden gem just outside Banbury »

First impressions are v important , and the gracious reception we received from Laura was outstanding. She helped to carry our gear up to Room 9 which turned out to be the Bridal suite ! Needless to say the room was perfect in every respect. I was temporarily disabled after e recent knee replacement and had requested a walk-in shower which was splendid and the roomy bathroom included a "tub" French windows opened on to a cute little balcony.Bed was emperor size and probably the best my wife and I have ever experieced.Dressing table with huge mirror and good illumination completed the picture. Service in the restaurant was outstanding without being obtrusive.4 course dinner preceeded by charming "Amuse bouche" each evening.Wine list was comprehensive and reasonably priced -- we did enjoy a Chilean Merlot for £19.95 as a good example. Both Maitre Ds were helpful and entertaining -- Marc and Stewart. Hotel located located just 2 miles from Banbury.Location is very handy for Corswolds, Stratford and Bicester Just 2 miles away is Upton Hall home of Lord Bearstead head of Samuels Bank who evacuated Staff to Upton Hall for the duration of the war which ended in 1945 ---- very well worth a visit. The lounge facilities are extensive and luxurious with lots of nooks and crannies -- selection of daily newspapers available. My wife and I will certainly be coming back here -- we will just tell a few close friends about our experience.

« One of the Best of the Best Western"s »

Stopped here whilst working in the area. Booked via Best Western central reservations. On arrival was upgraded to the cottage room 15 which was a suite room. The room was modern beautiful decorated and spotlessly clean. Powerful shower good Internet. Excellent food in the bar and breakfast was good. Staff absolutely brilliant nothing is too much trouble. Would highly recommend it and would happily return on business or for pleasure

    « Birthday special »

I booked this hotel for weekend break for my birthday, I couldn't t have chosen better, from check in with Ryan, a really pleasant guy who made you feel welcome to chatting with Vanessa, who incidentally cleaned my car after it was covered by the local bird population at a park and ride in Oxford, a lovely young lady. Laura another lovely young lady, Marc the mairtra di. What a wonderful group of people, never is this a 3 star hotel, it should be much higher for the staff alone. The evening meal was great, fantastic food at a good price. We will be returning next year for my wife's birthday a hidden gem. Fantastic.

« Romantic stay - spoilt by lots of little things... »

7th stay - but this time very disappointed. Ate in restraunt but felt neglected with a number of issues. Then Uncomfortable bed...2 mattresses pulled together? All seemed so different to previous visits.

    « Relaxing weekend »

The warmest of welcomes, cosy quiet room, drinks beside the log fire. The finest of food in the 1649 restaurant. All make for a wonderfully relaxing weekend. We are looking forward to our next visit soon.

    « Wedding reception »

My granddaughter chose to hold her wedding reception here on Aug bank holiday weekend and she couldn't have chosen a more perfect venue From arriving to leaving the staff were amazing and never stopped looking after us On arrival the heavens opened but in seconds an umbrella was being held over the bride The meal was excellent and the evening entertainment comprising of a live band followed by a dj was brilliant All in all it was just perfect and I would like to thank Margaret and all the staff for giving us a day we will never forget - in fact we want to do it again !!!

    « Afternoon tea »

An afternoon tea for those who had attended a funeral was well organised, served by friendly helpful staff and was just what we wanted to help celebrate a life well lived. Quantities allowed per person were generous too.

« Excellent venue for the weekend »

Excellent hotel with very helpful and pleasant staff. Our second visit and we will definitely stay again. Not large but everything in the lounge area and bar is well laid out, welcoming and comfortable.

    « Great dinner »

We really wanted to stay at this place but made a mistake with our booking and stayed at the one in town so we decided that we would have dinner at 1649. The bartender was very friendly and warned us they were having a large party but that was no issue for us. Initially we sat in the restaurant but it was very quiet and stuffy so the waitress happily moved us back in to the bar where we could people watch the Casino Royale party guests. The food was delicious and the place is charming.

    « Great Hotel »

As the title says, great hotel and extremely friendly staff. I was shown to my room and felt very relaxed with the atmosphere there. The room was very nice, bathroom good - water hot instantly etc. Have no problems recommending this hotel at all.

« Good hotel, great staff! »

We booked this for 1 night dinner and breakfast for my birthday, from start to finish the service was great. The hotel itself is very nice and modern, the rooms are lovely and spacious with very comfortable beds. The food was amazing and full credit to the dark haired gentleman in the restaurant, he had great knowledge of the food and you could tell he really enjoyed his job (properly one of the best customer service experiences we've had) we would definitely recommend this hotel to all people. Only bad point was when I booked this over the phone the lady recommended her favourite room 16 which had good features which I said great and good ahead and book, but on arrival we weren't given this room, still the room we had was great though

    5
« The friendliest hotel we've ever stayed in. »

This hotel has won Best Western awards for best small hotel and customer experience and its easy to see why. The hotel is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and the food in the restaurant is outstanding but what makes your stay is the staff, all of whom go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They want to help, to speak to you, to make you feel part of the family. We had a fabulous weekend and re-booked for a December break as we checked out. A special shout to Vanessa who took the stress out of our late arrival on Friday evening. Its a great base for ranging out to Stratford, Banbury, Bicester and the Cotswolds.

    « STOP OVER »

We were driving down from the north west to Southampton. We had to be in Southampton just after midday which meant us leaving home very early and hoping the M-ways were without traffic jams. So we decided to have a stop over mid way and leave at a more sensible hour. We chose the Best Western Wroxton House Hotel and are glad with did. We had a warm and friendly welcome from the reception staff and our room was lovely - clean, bright and modern. The hotel is situated in a lovely village and the hotel provided us with a simple map to enable us to explore the village. We did not dine in the hotel however breakfast was very good with plenty of choice if a cooked breakfast is required. Gluten free bread was available for my husband and I enjoyed the best hotel porridge I have ever had. This is a hotel we would return to any day and we highly recommend it.

    4
    « Excellent hotel but.. »

Suggest you try and avoid room 11 which has only one small window about knee height in one corner with absolutely no outlook and a window in the sloping roof again with no view apart from sky. So somewhat claustrophobic. Also would help if you were less than 6ft tall. No benefit having a Gold Card. This was a pity as in all other respects the hotel is excellent. Food very good and the staff were as friendly, cheerful and helpful as you could find anywhere. Just the room, bearing in mind cost, which stops the hotel getting five stars.

    5
    « Superb experience »

This hotel is a real gem, - great service, fantastic imaginative food choice, everyone is so friendly and helpful, the décor and ambience of the hotel is very relaxing, a real find. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

    « Lovely staff »

Stayed 1 night on my way to family in Surrey. The reception lady could not do enough for me instantly changing my room to a beautiful double when the single which I was originally given smelled of cigarettes (despite this being a no smoking hotel ).The bar staff were equally welcoming and Wroxton is a delightful tiny village within very easy drive of Banbury. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Parking I is also easy with a very large car park.

    « A Charming Country House Hotel »

We booked this hotel as a stopover to and from the ferry at Portsmouth. Situated in the very picturesque village of Wroxton we arrived to a very warm welcome from the young Scots receptionist which after the traumatic day we'd had was very much appreciated. We were shown to Room 17 which is a stunning large room in the eaves of the old part of the hotel with a lovely large bathroom. We had an excellent night's sleep in the very comfortable bed despite the fact we were at the front of the hotel facing a very busy road. On our return from France 10 days later we received the same warm welcome as our previous visit but on this occasion we were shown to Room 30 at the back of the hotel and whilst the room was perfectly adequate the bathroom was tiny and we felt as though we would step into the loo from the shower (a poor design with the sink not next to the bath). Another disappointment was the lack of soundproofing in the room which did not deflect the noisy plumbing from other rooms. On a more positive note the breakfast on both mornings was absolutely delicious and made with good quality food. All the staff are superb, professional and friendly. Despite the criticism of room 30 this is a hotel we would definitely return to in the future (if we can stay in Room 15, 16 or 17.

    « Weekend break »

Stayed for 2 nights, staff were wonderfully friendly & made us feel very welcome, great room, all amenities & very clean, we will definitely be back & try to stay longer next time! The staff in particular are an asset !

    « Very friendly »

We stayed for only one evening and received a very friendly and warm welcome by the Scottish chap on reception. We were able to store our bicycles in their 'wee' shed. Our room was large, clean with a comfortable bed, bath/shower and toilet, television and tea & coffee making facilities. It was a Sunday evening so the hotel was very quiet. Our room backed on to the pebbly car park - of which there are plenty of parking spaces - which I had concerns about with perhaps noisy people coming and going during the late/early hours and the sound of the cars on the gravel but as it was so quite we had none of that and the curtains had a good lining which made us think it was earlier than it was - I thought it was the middle of the night, however it was around 8am. Breakfast was good, the usual cereals etc., plus cooked breakfasts. I had avocado on a toasted muffin with poached eggs. We stayed on a Sunday night which for a special price included an evening meal and a bottle of wine. The starter and dessert were well presented and tasty but the main course, roast pork and roast beef were a little disappointing. The vegetables were hard and the meat could have done with being slowly cooked as they were a bit tough. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were fine. The service was very good throughout the whole hotel, very warm and friendly. The location is very good, in the countryside which is very nice. We rode over to Daylesford Organic Farm and back and although a little hilly we saw some lovely scenery. We wouldn't hesitate on staying here again if we were in the area.

    « Lovely little hotel. »

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Good, clean facilities. The bedroom was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, providing a good night sleep. The room was stocked with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water and biscuits which was a nice touch. Very quiet so we were not disturbed at all through the night which is always a bonus as this can never be guaranteed, our room was a little small but that didn't bother us. We thoroughly enjoyed the food here, we both had beef which was gorgeous and we loved the breakfast the next morning. Lovely place to stay!

I always stay at the Wroxton when I am in Banbury for business There are hotels in town but I would rather the extra distance for this hotel Rooms have been updated and really modern Wifi is fast Food is great especially cooked breakfast The staff always friendly and attentive The bar slightly small but carries most of what you need Overall one of my favorite homes from home Would highly recommend

A good clean hotel in a very pretty village. Easy parking. The staff were very curteous and helpful and the breakfast excellent. It is well worth having a short walk around the village and seeing if you can spot all the sundials.Well placed for travelling the area.

First time in this hotel will definitely come back, staff are fabulous so friendly and helpful. Must give a shout out to Stewart one of the Managers who was really helpful and chatty there was 3 of us and think we drove him mad, went back next day with the boss for lunch, he was very impressed all in all a great hotel

« Lovely hotel but the staff really make it! »

We have just returned from a two night stay as we were meeting up with friends living in the area for the weekend. The hotel is very pretty, in keeping with the local architecture and has been cleverly extended so as not to look as though extensions have been bolted on. We checked in on Friday afternoon and were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist who took us to our room on the first floor. The hotel had emailed us to let us know that there was a wedding being held there on the Saturday, so we were expecting it. Very sensible idea. Our room was very nice indeed. Lovely size, very nicely decorated (smelt like new carpet and furniture) with a good size bathroom en-suite. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate making facilities and a couple of packets of very nice biscuits. We unpacked and settled in. Went out for an explore in Banbury (had a drink and something light to eat at The Church Bar) and then drove into Stratford (only seven miles from the hotel - worth a visit). Came back and enjoyed a very good dinner at the hotel in their restaurant (very good menu £33 for three courses, £28 for two). We'd pre-booked the day before and they had room for us. The food and wine was very good indeed - we've recommended the restaurant to our friends who live up there - they've not been before. Had a good night's sleep for the first night - and you can open the windows for fresh air, rather than deal with aircon. Breakfast was very good - excellent quality sausages and bacon (according to my husband). I'm pescatarian - so had no meat but was offered vegetarian sausages if I wished. I declined and had scrambled eggs, cooked tomatoes, mushrooms, lovely fried bread and baked beans. Lots of toast, tea or coffee and fruit juices along with continental options including cereals, granola, yogurts, pastries etc. We were meeting a friend for parkrun at Banbury so had breakfast at 7.15ish which worked very well. We were out for the morning of our second day, but came back to the hotel to see if we could have a spot of lunch. We'd expected this might not happen as they were in the middle of preparing for the wedding, but there is a lovely pub a five minute walk up the road towards Wroxton village centre (The White Horse, I think) and had a good pub lunch there instead. We spent the rest of the day and evening out with our friends and came back to the hotel for our final night. The wedding was in full swing but the sound-proofing in the bedrooms is excellent and we were not disturbed by it at all, up on the first floor. Had a good night's sleep on a very comfy queen-sized bed and had a lie-in before breakfast at 8.45ish. Again - good food and friendly, attentive staff. The only thing that was really odd was our eggs! We were asked whether we would like fried or poached eggs cooked for us, instead of the standard scrambled eggs and we both opted for the poached eggs. But they were the weirdest things we'd ever eaten - possibly coddled in a microwave - the texture was a cross between gel and custard. We should have been brave enough to ask how they were cooked, but weren't! But weird eggs aside, this hotel was delightful, friendly and welcoming and very comfortable. A bit pricey, but worth it for our lovely weekend.

« Birthday celebration for six »

Six of us celebrated our birthdays, two 80s three 75s and a 78.We went on the Picnic deal, very good value. The staff treated us as VIPs, nothing is to much trouble for them. The food is good, and the hotel is very clean, and comfy. This was our third visit, we will be going again. Thank you all very very much.

    « Wonderful Surprise! »

We booked this hotel on the Best Western website at the last minute, based on it being an easy first day's drive from Heathrow. There was a problem with our credit card and we were delighted when Vanessa went out of her way to phone us in Norway to straighten it out. When we arrived, after a long day of flying and driving, we were surprised to find a charming historic hotel. We entered to see a threesome enjoying afternoon tea in the reception area. Check-in was easy. Every staff member we talked with was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Bed comfy. Wifi good. The town was an absolute delight. We had a pub dinner at the White Horse Inn right up the street, with a lesson on English ales and ciders and local history thrown in for free. We enjoyed a walk around town after dinner. Known as the "the most thatched village in England," Wroxton is a real gem. The grounds of Wroxton College are amazing. Next morning we were served a wonderful breakfast, including a lovely buffet and a hot breakfast from the menu. (We had reserved at the "bed and breakfast" rate. Highly recommended!) Instead of being anxious to get on our way we found ourselves taking one more walk around town and checking out just ahead of check out time. We absolutely recommend this hotel! What a wonderful surprise!

    « A real Gem »

I stay here very frequently with business as our company is close by and cannot fault the level of quality. Rooms are spotless staff are the friendliest and food is out of this world. It's the one hotel I actually feel relaxed in. Gardens and surroundings are beautiful. It's just a pity it's always full but also shows how successful it is. This is how a hotel should be !!!

« We had a perfect Wedding here. »

My son chose this place for his Wedding. It was the first one he saw and no other venue could match it. The place was idea, with lots of seating areas in relaxing setting. We had the enclosed garden area where the children could play safely and we made the most of the beautiful weather. Our room was lovely and very modern and comfortable. The service meal and disco was held in a room just the right size and adapted well for each one. The food I enjoyed and thought it was great value. The staff were lovely. The only niggle was that guest had to book two nights as over the weekend. I would totally recommend this hotel for any family get together.

« Family dinner in a beautiful restaurant with outstanding service »

My mother and I came into the hotel with a family member who lives locally for an impromptu dinner to celebrate. Having been to the hotel for business lunches previously I was sure that it was a good choice. The restaurant exceeded all expectations! The decor was stunning but not overdone, the service was friendly, genuine and to be honest, flawless, and the food was beautifully flavoured and presented. I was absolutely taken aback that I could have this quality of food and service on my doorstep. I am very eager to return and wouldn't consider anywhere else in/around Banbury for a special occasion now! Thank you all at the Wroxton House Hotel for making our evening so memorable!

« Great location to explore this part of the world »

Stayed here while touring this part of the country. Hotel occupies a road corner in the centre of Wroxton close to Banbury (seems all buildings in Banbury seem to be directly on the road). This place while not being grand or spacious, does more than make up for it in terms of comfort, staff (amazing) and general ambience. The location is perfect, lots of National Trust priorities nearby (Stowe 17 miles for example), Stratford-upon-Avon (20 miles ), Oxford (24m) etc. Easy Parking as well. Local dining - check out the Three Pigeons in Banbury (very good). Hotel - only small -ve , shower over bath, and single hot/cold taps over sink (+the hot water was super hot, dangerous)

    « Surprisingly very pleased »

Family visit to Cotswolds Booked for bank holiday break in the Cotswolds, firstly ideal base to drive to places like Bourton on the water and Broadway Tower. Arrived late check in 10pm, very welcoming chap at reception who smiled! Offered to book us into dinner even that late and personally showed us to our rooms (we booked 2). Asked for more blankets he put them into our room whilst we were out. The breakfast was really good and overall great to have smiling friendly staff. We're an Asian family always nervous going out of London had a great time here would recommend and stay again I travel internationally a lot and abroad the hotel quality and service tends to be superior than the UK and I was nervous about booking in the UK after reading some horror reviews for quite expensive places. Here the Best Western brand assured me (use them abroad) and the staff were excellent. Thanks for a great experience more hols in the UK!

    « A brilliant venue for a family 70th birthday party lunch »

We booked the Wroxton for my wife's 70th birthday lunch. The staff could not have been more helpful in planning the event. On the day a drinks tray was ready well before the guests arrived. A great private room, great meal and excellent service from the assistant manager and his team. Everything went to plan. They did a brilliant job

« A great find. Our first stay but not the last. »

We arrived and were greeted by a very pleasant and helpful member of staff. This was the sign of things to come. All staff were great without exception. The room was clean and well maintained with a comfortable bed and coffee/tea making facilities. Breakfast the next morning indicated that the quality was going to be up to our expectations. We were not disappointed. Once again, helpful and pleasant staff who were all efficient. Finding this we booked a table for that evening. A delightful meal with the beef and lamb cooked the way we like it. The meat was good quality. Vegetables were also well cooked (not over cooked). Great flavours. Unfortunately we had only booked for 2 nights but using this as a base we visited Bletchley Park, Bicester retail village & the Althorp estate. When in the area again we will stay here.

« RECOMMENDED IF YOU WISH TO BE NEAR THE COTWOLDS AND STRATFORD ON AVON »

I took a Probus group of 23 retired persons to Wroxton house hotel, a few miles on the road from Banbury to Startford on Avon, and as Social secretary having organised numerous coffee stops at hotels, I may assure any readers that this hotel is one of the best if you are looking for courtesy, a lovely lounge and excellent coffee, tea, and homemade cookies. If nothing changes from our visit 23 August 2016 then rest assured you will not be disappointed. Ken M.

    « Perfect Sunday lunch »

This was the second time we had visited for Sunday lunch and we were amazed that the staff remembered us; even that the little boy with us liked to pretend that roast beef was chicken ! We were warmly welcomed; the staff were unobtrusively attentive and the meal delicious. Do not hesitate to book here ; it is just lovely.

« An absolutely perfect stay! »

We stayed two nights in this hotel while we were attending a local wedding. All the hotel staff were fantastic - they were extremely welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. The hotel was beautiful and was very well maintained. Our room was lovely, very comfortable and in very good condition. We ate in the restaurant the first night and had a gorgeous meal. We also had breakfast both mornings and it was lovely; we could not fault the food. It was a perfect stay in a perfect hotel. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here!

Very pleasant stay in charming hotel in quaint old English village with lots of interesting nearby short walks past old thatched cottages and houses. What a visitor would expect in preserved English countryside.

Daventry Ramblers , 22 walkers had lunch on 18/8 . We were made most welcome in the very attractive venue . All of the staff were very attentive and served us a delicious lunch in a very comfortable dining room . Ramblers more often look for a pub option . However if in Wroxton use this hotel . Our lunch was by arrangement so ring first .

A quick overnight stop here has left us wanting to go back for more. What a lovely hotel, clean, comfortable, lovely staff, superb food in the most picturesque Cotswold village sitting on the doorstep of Banbury, Oxford and Stratford upon Avon. We felt very much at home here and are planning a 3 day break in order to return and explore more.

« The most wonderful wedding venue!! »

We had our wedding here this month and everyone was absolutely blown away with the venue and staff. I could not put into words how pleased I am to have found Wroxton House as a wedding venue, I feel truly blessed. We fell in love with the hotel from the moment we visited, it's beautifully decorated, unique and so welcoming and all of our guests agreed. The rooms were lovely, better than any other Best Western that our well travelled guests have been to. The bridal suite was gorgeous. The Broughton room and the private garden was decorated and transformed beautifully for every stage of the wedding. The staff here are amazing, Margaret helped us at every stage to plan the wedding and then in the day I had the pleasure of Stuart looking after me at every moment. We had met him prior to the wedding and from that moment my anxiety and stress disappeared. On the day he was amazing, even thinking to get me a glass of water with a straw in it to save my makeup and giving me tips on how to walk suxcessfully in a wedding dress!! His partner, Emma was also an amazing part of the day and helped out massively. Everything was so seamless. Thank you so much for everything Wroxton House, we will be back for our 1 year anniversary to celebrate with you xxx

We stayed last week for one night. It's a very nice hotel , good service and friendly only one criticism we had a very nice dinner , good food but you feel the need to leave the dining room as the staff are clearing up around you and it's only 9.30pm

    « A new favourite »

We had a delightful stay at the Wroxton House Hotel. From arrival to departure the experience was a pure pleasure. The staff are, without exception, polite and well presented and seem determined to ensure that our stay was memorable for all the right reasons. Everything in the hotel seemed superbly maintained, clean and well decorated. The lounge area has several comfortable seating areas with table service should you require refreshments. The excellence follows through to the restaurant, perfectly cooked, perfectly served and truly exceptional food. Without a doubt once of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, unpretentious and yet very high quality, I can't wait to return.

    « Daughters wedding »

August 2016. Our daughter got married at the Wroxton House Hotel last weekend. What a lovely place this is for a wedding, and all of the staff worked so hard to make it a perfect day. I would especially like to thank Stuart and Emma for all of their guidance and organisational skills to make everything run seamlessly throughout the day. The food was excellent and well served. Looking back on it all after a couple of days there was nothing that could have been done better. Thank you all so much for helping to make it a perfect day. Steve and Chris.

« Comfortable room, very helpful staff »

We have been staying at the Wroxton for several years on a regular basis. Whenever we visit friends and family in the area we stay here. The service and standard of care of the guests is consistently excellent. The breakfast is generous and gives plenty of choice. The restaurant and bars meals are always of a high standard and room service is faultless. The staff are delightful. They take the trouble to remember small things, such as the brand of gin that I prefer! The rooms are well equipped and very comfortable. We shall continue to stay at the Wroxton whenever we can

    5
    « Excellent ! »

I had booked Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and from the moment we arrived to the time we left we could not fault anything ! The staff were a delight - always smiling and helpful. The hotel is contemporary modern and everywhere is spotlessly clean. Delightful restaurant with lots of character and the food is amazing - the pistachio cake and rhubarb sorbet is to die for !!! We will definitely be returning and recommending Wroxton House to friends.

« Lovely hotel, friendly staff and great food »

Have just returned from spending the best two nights stay I've ever had in a hotel in this country. Could not have asked for anything more. I never expected to be staying in a village which is straight out of a picture postcard of the Cotswolds. My room was in the original part, with the thatched roof overhanging my window but did not in anyway affect the daylight. The staff - from the young man at reception to the cleaning lady were so lovely - nothing was too much trouble for anyone I came across. I dined there both evenings and was not disappointed, the selection of cereals, nuts, fruits and a choice of cooked breakfasts meant I was well fed until late afternoon. The rooms have everything you would expect in a hotel of this standard, and more, including a safe as standard. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

« A fabulous hotel with wonderful staff, yummy food and a warm welcome »

As soon as I arrived the staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. On entering my room, they carried my bags for me, I found a comfy bed with clean immaculate bedlinen, a lovely ensuite bathroom with big shower, a desk and chair, an arm chair, Wi-Fi and facilities to make drinks. My wardrobe had ample space, there was an ironing board and iron and a safe. There was a fan if I got to warm. My view out of the window was of beautiful fields. Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful I ate from both menus. It was very good value for money and all the staff were exceptionally in their care attention and just happily chatted if I wanted to. Walking round the village is well worth it too as it's beautiful and quaint. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will definitely be going back. 5*****

    « Country charm »

Just south of Banbury, the beautiful little village of Wroxton with the ancient church and thatched rooves is the location for this delightful hotel. Masses if old world comfort and charm.....including the very helpful, delightful staff. Tastefully renovated. We stayed in the 'cottage' whilst our daughter and grandson were in the main building. Both equally comfortable and nicely furnished. The dining area is very different;almost like separate rooms in a private house, accessed by walking through one to get to the next. Sounds confusing but it really works, makes you feel more a guest and less a mere money spending number. The breakfast is the usual buffet style though it has to be said....excellently cooked! We travel to this area on an annual basis and would most definitely opt to come to this hotel again

    « Quaint.. »

I as told about this hotel hen we stayed at another Best western. It was a good opportunity to stay here as I had business in Banbury. Not disappointed. Staff were welcoming and professional. Rooms were very clean, the hotel was well maintained and good standard of décor. Dinner was excellent, good presentation. Breakfast excellent, staff very pleasant and attentive throughout.

    « overnight stop »

I chose this hotel purely because of the location as it divided my trip to the north by half. What a find we had a very pleasant nights sleep and a very enjoyable evening diner. The breakfast the following day was just as good. The staff were all very friendly and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

« A real gem in quiet picturesque village »

First time in this lovely relaxing hotel and unfortunately we only booked a one-night stay but it was an excellent choice and hope to return some time. The staff made this stay so special making a point of being friendly and interested in what we were doing. The hotel is clean and well-cared for and the building is a clever blend of old and new. Small well-kept garden and ample parking provided. Very comfortable room, seats for two people, bedside tables and lights on both sides of the bed and a well-planned en-suite with bath and oodles of hot water. Shower could have been a bit more powerful though. Very pleasant bar area with comfortable seating and tastefully decorated. Excellent breakfast with lovely fresh fruit and delicious cooked breakfast. Everything was done to make our stay there enjoyable including providing us with a map to explore the grounds of the nearby abbey. Evening menu in restaurant was a bit expensive so we walked to local pub in village.

    « Short Holiday »

On arrival for a short holiday we were allocated room 8, an executive room which was a lovely large room with 2 TV's, a seating area etc, it was very clean but overlooked a flat roof which would have been fine if staying for 1 or 2 nights but as we were staying longer asked if we could have a different room. this was not possible that night as the other rooms were full, however the receptionist was very helpful in arranging us a change of room for the next 3 nights (room 16). The new room was a beautiful light airy room that overlooked the fields and church at the front of the hotel, the road was a little noisy but the traffic became very light as it got later, not a problem for us. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful and Marc and his team in the restaurant are brilliant. The food was all very nice and very well presented, there is a large car park at the rear. There is plenty to see and do in the area, Upton house, Hidcote, British motor museum etc. My only complaint is that we were allocated a room with a poor view for a 4 night stay but this may have been something to do with a car club staying. Will definitely be staying again.

    4
    « Another lovely evening »

Once again we had a very comfortable evening. This time we stayed in a more modern room which actually I think I prefer. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Bedroom was a good size and nice and clean. Just don't understand why the mattress in a double room should have two beds pushed together with an obvious join down the middle. I would suggest different mattress toppers or keep twin rooms for just that. Dispite that we had a really good sleep. Staff again very helpful and friendly.

    5
    « Excellent short break »

We stayed here for a few days with friends and were very pleased with the accommodation and service. The room was delightful, very clean, fresh and comfortable. The hotel is on a busy road but our room faced away from the road and was quiet. We had evening meals and breakfasts in the hotel and all were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. Across the road from the hotel is the old village of Wroxton and Wroxton Abbey which provides access to the grounds and is well worth a visit.

    « Good value »

Friendly helpful staff. Good location. Our room was small but clean and comfortable although ventilation was poor. We were offered a bigger room but as we were only there for four nights we didn't change. Breakfast selection was good and quality of food very good.

« A very pleasant hotel with delightful staff »

We stayed here for a couple of nights while visiting friends. We had a room upgrade to superior and the room was right up in the eaves. It was a lovely room, spacious and airy, with windows that opened and kept it cool. Everything was as clean and comfortable as you would expect ? a delightful room that we both loved. There is a road that runs past the hotel which was a bit busy in the afternoon, but eased off at night, but probably still best if you can get a room away from the road. The staff were also lovely, friendly, helpful ? I couldn't fault them in any way. The only problem we had was the evening meal. It was quite expensive at £28.50 for two courses or £33 for three, so we chose from the bar menu, which we were able to eat in the restaurant. However, we felt that the portions were small, nice but not great, and still quite expensive ? a meal for 4, (aperitifs, no expensive wine, 3 pints each for the two men) came to just over £150 with a tip. There really aren't any other dining options without a car ride into Banbury so you are a bit stuck with it. However, apart from that I would recommend this hotel. Would we return? Not sure ? the restaurant would be a major sticking point.

« Friendly and telaxing place to stay »

Stayed here for one night while away for work. What a lovely hotel and staff to match. From the friendly welcome we had the minute we arrived, to the excellent food in the bar and the delicious breakfast, I can't fault it I have to admit that at first glance, the room seemed quite small and as I was above the reception I did worry that it might be noisy. It wasn't. This was a Monday night though, so I can't comment on what it might be like at weekends. However, the bed was so comfortable that I had no problem falling asleep and sleeping well. The food in the bar area was very tasty and the staff were friendly, asked how we were and answered any questions we had. The breakfast was substantial and freshly cooked and the coffee very very good. Everyone had a smile on their face and the gentleman on reception (Ryan I think) was efficient, friendly and again, helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay.

« Dining experience in hotel restaurant »

Visited the 1649 restaurant in this hotel with visiting family and had the best dining experience. From start to finish staff were friendly and attentive. The set 3 course menus were excellent and well thought out. Drinks were not overpriced, and the whole experience was most relaxing. I would certainly recommend this venue. There is also a very good bar and lounge menu available.

    « Like a family run hotel »

If you didn't know this lovely hotel is part of an enormo-chain you'd be forgiven for thinking it was family run given its attention to detail and the enthusiasm of its staff. The food is excellent and great value for money (though the wine list could be expanded a bit). Marc, who runs, the restaurant is a delight. They were having a large function whilst my wife and I were there on Saturday but we barely noticed it as the hotel is very well and fully staffed. Comfortable bed, pleasant room, pretty building - really couldn't fault it. We'll be back.

    « Fabulous hotel! »

I held a team meeting at the Wroxton House Hotel on the 20th of June, we all stayed the evening of the 19th. From the moment I walked in the staff could not do enough to help, they were fantastic and a credit to the hotel. My room was immaculate, luxurious and the bed easiness of the most comfortable I have slept in. We all ate in the restaurant which because of its layout was like having a private dining room, the food was excellent and the service superb! The meeting room was full of character, flooded with natural daylight and looked out on the stunning chocolate box village of Wroxton. Lunch was fantastic and we even had white chocolate cheesecake with afternoon coffee! This hotel should never be a 3*, it's 4 star plus! I would highly recommend staying for business or pleasure! Thank you to all the staff from all of the team, we loved it.

I will stay here again for sure. Excelent staff in reception - felt welcome. in fact good staff all around. Not the cheapest but money well spend. A good nights sleep. A quiet hotel. Limited range in restaurant, but good quality what was there. Easy access to parking and good wifi.

    « Lovely hotel »

I stayed at this Best Western for just one night on a cycling tour. Everything about the place was good. Nice spacious clean and up to date room, good wifi, all the staff were friendly and very helpful, and the breakfast (excellent selection including my favourite of smoked haddock and a poached egg) was just right - a pot of tea and a pot of hot water to go with it too. I would definitely stay there again if I'm in the area.

    « Ideal wedding venue »

Our daughter was lucky enough to hold her wedding at this wonderful hotel on Sunday the 29th of May. I cannot praise the staff enough, nothing was to much trouble and they made us feel so relaxed and confident in their ability to make things right. Charlotte was amazing, she was always smiling and she looked after us all weekend, and we must also thankyou to Sean, as the perfect master of ceremonies, he did a great job in making the reception flow without any hitches. The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms are clean, comfortable and I would recommend to anyone, if you need to stay in this area you must stay here. You will not regret it. Well done and thankyou again to everyone who made our day special.

« Great stay in an English Country Hotel »

A quintessential English Country Hotel, good rooms, great service, difficult to beat this little Gem. The only possible complaint is the shower could hold the title for renaming it to become a "Dribble" , difficult to get wet and needs updating.

« excellent food & service in a lovely location »

We enjoyed our stay in Wroxton and especially the food and service in the bar and restaurant. « Fantastic stay for a special occasion »

We stayed for one night as a group of 7 to celebrate an 80th birthday. We all arrived at about 3pm, checked in and settled down for an afternoon tea. We were allowed to bring in our own birthday cake, and the sandwiches provided by the hotel were delicious. The evening meal was also very nice, although I only recall seeing one choice for a vegetarian option. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and we all had a good nights sleep. Very firm mattresses, tea and coffe making facilities in rooms with decent sized mugs, TV and seating area all in the room. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice of both hot and cold. The staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful throughout, nothing was too much trouble and it really made the occasion very special. We shall definitely return.

    « Excellent hotel »

Stayed for one night in May. The staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. Our standard twin room was a bit on the small side but was clean, warm and had a couple of chairs and a small table. There was free wifi in the room and also a flatscreen tv with sky channels ( including all the sky sports channels) . The hotel has a lovely lounge area and a decent outdoor seating area. We ate dinner from the bar menu and the food was very good. Breakfast was eaten in the restaurant , a very pleasant room, and consisted of a continental buffet and a choice of cooked items served at the table along with filter coffee ( decaf available) served in a cafetière. Food was hot and well cooked. I would stay at this hotel again and can recommend it with confidence!

    « Zilch flexibility/consideration »

Booked 2 rooms for 2 nights on a cancel on the day basis . Unfortunately we got stuck on our way down with poor rail service & late feeder coaches hence could not reach finally. Since connectivity on the train was poor we could not inform them in time for the noon deadline but only later in the evening on the day. Ended up getting charged for both days for both rooms as we could inform them only after a few hours. Requested if they could charge a part penalty or let us come in on another day but all we got was a NO. So much for their consideration towards their customers. Will never book here again.

    « Simply Outstanding!! »

I write a lot of reviews. I stay in a lot of hotels around the world and im extremely picky! This hotel is simply outstanding, and one of the finest ive ever stayed in. Thats a big claim, let me explain why i feel so strongly about that statement. The hotel itself is in a lovely part of Banbury, out in to the country so has a village feel to it. Our room was very modern, but in a cottage style so was oozing character and charm. The facilities of the hotel, although advertised as a 3-star are certainly 3-star+ and should be seen as a very very good hotel for its category. As i was staying to attend a wedding for a couple of nights, I got to see a few of the rooms. The first night i was in a twin room (room 35). The bed was extremely comfortable and the room well decorated. The lounge where we met for a few drinks was also very comfortable. My second night was with my family, in room 15. This was the downstairs executive room which was kitted out to host my wife, my 3 kids and I. Despite our numbers the space was massive! We were all very comfortable after a day of partying. All i would say thought is watch your head when coming out of the door in room 15! I managed to hot my head on the door frame and the next thing i knew was looking up at the ceiling seeing stars! Finally, and probably the hotels biggest asset is the staff. First class, and i dont say that lightly. From reception, to restaurant and bar staff they were polite, attentive and keen to ensure that you having a great time! A special mention to the Assistant manager who made a point to learn all of my children's names and ensure they were also having fun. The hotel, the rooms and the staff. A gem in the countryside, and made our stay, and the weeding for my brother and his new wife absolutely amazing!

    « Friendly, welcoming hotel »

We recently stayed at this hotel with a group of friends - ten in total. Everyone enjoyed their stay; accommodation was very comfortable and clean, staff very welcoming and friendly at all times and the food was of a high standard. The location is excellent, with many National Trust and other properties within the locality. Our friends were reluctant to leave and we booked accommodation for next year's get together before departing.

    « Exceptional Sunday Lunch »

Wroxton House is a small country house hotel, in a little village outside of Banbury Oxon. Thatched House with large car par to side and rear of hotel. Inside, there are cosy Lounge areas, small Bar where we were greeted with a smile and welcome Drink order was taken at our comfy seats and menus were given. Dining room not overcrowded. Glass of House wine delivered promptly to our table in individual Carafes, and delicately poured out for us.I I Did not enjoy the taste of my wine, just personal taste I add, so was quickly offered something else to go with my lunch, and no charge. Food Exceptional, our roast beef done to perfection(large portions).Extra veg, gravy etc no problem here. Coffee included in the cost you can have at your table or back in those comfy chairs as we did.All the way through the service and attention to our needs is paramount. A wonderful, relaxing, Sunday lunch and Yes will go back and try an evening Meal. Asked to be shown around hotel and rooms etc, very obliging again, nothing is too much trouble and a friendly goodbye when we left.

    « Hotel with character »

This is a lovely hotel located on the edge of a quiet village. It consists of a series of interconnected buildings ranging from several hundred years old (complete with thatched roof) to contemporary buildings. The staff made us feel very welcome. Our room was comfortably furnished. The restaurant meals of evening dinner and breakfast were both good. It was a shame that we were only able to stay one night as this hotel merits longer.

« Great hotel in a lovely village »

I stayed three nights at Wroxton House Hotel while visiting Oxford and the upper Cotswolds. The location is fantastic. It's easy to get to larger cities (including Oxford and Stratford-Upon-Avon) as well small villages. There's a large Tesco just a few miles away, so you can pick up snacks or any items you might have forgotten at home. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making sure I had everything I needed when checking in. The room was rather large compared to other European hotels (very similar in size to an American hotel). I would definitely stay here again if I were visiting the area.

    « Pleasant surprise »

Was booked in to stay here by work. Had a pleasant surprise at how nice this place was. Nice rooms, high quality menu and food. Excellent service. Not full of TV screens in public areas which promotes relaxation and conversation. No gym. Situated in a lovely village that's well worth exploring. Would recommend for a meal even if you weren't staying there. Cooked Breakfast didn't live up to the same quality as the evening meals. Looking forward to working in Banbury again soon.

    « One night only... :-( »

We were able to stay at this wonderful hotel for one night only as it was a stopover for a wedding further north. It was enough, though, to ensure we'll be back. I 'd mentioned to the hotel that it was our wedding anniversary, prior to the wedding we were travelling to the next day. Not only was our request for a quiet room granted, the person I spoke with on booking couldn't have been more helpful in discussing and offering room options. Arriving at the hotel after an awful journey up - parked on the M25 for an hour and then through a rainstorm on the M40, we were almost a tad crabby, I'm sorry to say. The Receptionist (sorry I can't remember your name but hopefully, management at the hotel will know who was on duty) couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. 'Don't worry if you're not ready for your restaurant booking, just come and have a drink and relax beforehand' - wonderful! This hotel is plush, relaxed and elegant. We were told by another couple that it had been refurbished and, 'wasn't the same'. Sorry, we can only conclude that they were the ones who needed refurbishing ... Ignore! As others have said, guest areas, furnishings and service are wonderful. Our room, an executive double, was comfortable and smart. The bathroom was a tad narrow and I would agree with a previous reviewer that something weird is happening with the magnifying mirror (no, I couldn't see in it either) but, honestly, no real issue as there was also a large mirror. Coming down to the bar, we found that the hotel had provided us with a complimentary glass of Prosecco each, which was a lovely touch - thank you! Drinks from the bar come with mixed olives and popcorn. Sorry, did I mention that this hotel is 'only' a 3*...?! Dinner was excellent. From the amuse bouch of a pea veloute to the beef and lamb options (see menu), all our food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. We were so impressed, we asked our waitress if we could speak with Chef. We got the impression he was reluctant to come 'front of house' but he did and we were glad: an unassuming but knowledgeable and very likeable young man who was obviously proud of his food and achievements. Keep going but don't aim for that particular 5* restaurant we talked about - yours was most definitely better! So, apologies for the long review: this is a wonderful hotel that surely deserves more than its 3*. Don't want to say it too loud though because others will find it and we want to keep it a special secret! Thank you Wroxton House Hotel. You made our visit and anniversary very special and we will be back.

« Delightfully understated, a near faultless overnight accommodation offering. »

We chose this hotel for its proximity to an event that we were attending. It is situated in the N.Oxfordshire village of Wroxton, which has a classic Cotswold stone ambience. The staff were courteous, friendly and efficient. The open areas in the hotel were clean and tidy, without being 'sterile' and the furnishings and layout provided a 'home from home' feel. Our room was an 'executive' type and being at the end of a corridor had no passing traffic. The room itself was spotlessly clean, the furnishings of a good standard and the easy chairs comfortable. The bathroom had an 'in bath' shower facility which gave a powerful shower of even temperature and a curtain that did not try and grab you! The bath itself was a very comfortable, good quality steel item. Most importantly, the bath towels were very thick and of a generous size. There was also a magnifying mirror and plenty of bright light in the bathroom. The double bed was comfortable with nice bed linen and a duvet. There was a large flat screen TV in the room and WiFi throughout. The buffet breakfast had helpful staff in attendance and whilst choices were not overly comprehensive we had everything that we wanted. The food was all freshly prepared and again, of importance, tasted very good! Outside there was ample, screened, parking away from the road. The village environs provided a very pleasant walk and the impressive Wroxton House grounds were open to the public. Would we be happy to stay there again - absolutely!

    « A lovely hotel »

Used our Tesco points to book a two night stay and were very pleased with the hotel. The room was warm and cosy, the bed and linen great quality. The bathroom was well supplied and the shower hot and powerful. Breakfast was very good with the hot selection cooked to order (I hate hot buffets!). What more could you want?

    « A Fantastic Weekend!!! »

My daughter and her husband (he wasn't when they booked) decided to hold their wedding reception here, they could not have chosen a better venue. Various meetings took place to discuss food, music, decorations, etc., there was even a food tasting session to ensure they were happy with their selection. At all stages of the planning, the event organiser (Margaret) offered help and advice to make sure everything was okay on the day. On arrival we were greeted by Shaun and his team, who looked after us all from start to finish. The room looked fantastic, as was the food and the guy that did the disco got it just right. As for the service, well I just couldn't fault it and believe me, if I could I would! Quite a few of us stayed for the night. When my wife and I went for breakfast we were shown to a room that had been prepared for those attending the reception. Once again the room was beautifully laid out, with an excellent buffet breakfast provided. If you think I was impressed, you'd be right and the staff earned every bit of my praise. They gave us the sort of experience dreams are made of, thank you.

« A jewel in the Cotswold crown »

We're just coming to the end of a week's stay here. We didn't know the hotel at all but I saw it on one of the Best Western adverts on TV and thought it looked rather nice - so we booked. Just a short distance from Banbury, the little village of Wroxton is a stunning collection of thatched cottages around Wroxton Abbey. It's a good centre for exploring the Cotswolds, Oxford, Stratford, Warwick and that area south of Birmingham. The hotel itself has evolved from a collection of cottages with a modern wing and entrance area added. The welcome is warm! The friendly staff, never "in your face" but always on hand to help and always with a smile, are brilliant and professional to their finger tips. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure that your stay is comfortable, relaxed and happy. Our room was a superior one - number 2. There were quite a few stairs to reach it as it ran along the upper floor of what would have been three cottages. The staff insisted on dealing with our luggage so coping with the stairs was fine, though probably not for a couple with mobility issues. We had a large, well appointed bathroom, plenty of towels and toiletries and under floor heating. The dressing table, wardrobe and drinks station were between the bathroom and the sleeping area - plenty of coat hangers, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, room safe, good selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolate and biscuits by the kettle, bottled water replenished every day and bottled fruit juice, also replenished every day. The bed was very comfortable - good quality linen and pillows, bedside tables, club easy chairs and a large tv. A very comfortable room in every respect, beautifully furnished, appropriately heated and serviced well each day. There is a well stocked bar in a small lounge with a lovely wood burner. A larger lounge has plenty of comfortable, squishy sofas and chairs. There is a sort of conservatory at the entrance area with seating - good for a spot of Spring sunshine. Plenty of garden tables and chairs to catch the sun, too. The food was superb! Quality dining whether you chose the restaurant menu or the bar menu. The chef's little amuse bouche each evening was always a treat. The menu changes about every three months. If you are staying for a week (Mon to Sat) as we did you have a good selection. A two week stay might feel a little limited in choice but the dishes are so delicious that a second time time through the menu wouldn't be a trial at all. Wroxton House is a delightful place to stay and we had a wonderful week. A huge "thank you" to all the staff for their attentiveness and care. We really couldn't fault anything - and you even sorted good weather for us!

    « Afternoon Tea »

The 'ladies who lunch' decided to do afternoon tea instead and we enjoyed a great time here. The venue is lovely, plenty of parking and a pretty little outside area to enjoy weather permitting. The hotel interior is very pleasant and welcoming and the staff attentive. Our super fare was scrumptious especially the Devine cheesecake - about 5 inches deep! Tea and coffee was endless and we enjoyed (of course) a glass of prosecco. So the tea, the bubbly and tip worked out at £20 each. Value for money and lovely experience of a day spent with friends. Restaurant open evenings only except Sunday's. Must try the Sunday lunch soon.

« A lovely hotel and great stay »

All round - a lovely place to stay. All of the team are very professional - customer focused and friendly. My Wife & I stayed for a long weekend. We had a warm welcome at reception, who efficiently arranged for our cases to be delivered to our room. Our room was delightful - well equipped (super shower & separate bath), cosy and quiet. Down to the bar and then onto the restaurant - again - really great service and very nice dinner - each night. Great Breakfast too. Our stay could not have been better - the hotel fully lives up to all the compliments on Trip Advisor - our special weekend was all the better for staying here. Great and convenient location to, with ample car park. Thank you.

    « Lovely place »

Stayed for 1 night 12 April. The staff are really friendly and there service is much better than the 3 stars that the place is. Food was great. Definitely coming back to here for my next stay in Banbury.

    « Overall a very nice stay »

This is a hotel that would need to have a bad game to lose points as it's pretty much all there from the start. Nice location, albeit Wroxton is a one hotel & pub village (and church) so you can pretty much "do it" in half an hour, friendly staff, nice bar and restaurant area and clean/well kept room. We had a couple of restaurant issues which are out of keeping with previous reviews so I'll accept them as isolated and our gentle complaints were handled very well and the bill adjusted. The bathroom in our room, 21 I think, was a bit strange in that the shaving mirror was about 7ft up the wall and the toilet roll holder out of reach of the toilet. The water wasn't hot enough either. All in all a nice stay and I would recommend this hotel

« Very nice hotel with friendly staff »

Stopped here one night on business. The hotel is well presented and was immaculately clean. The staff from receptionist, bar and waitress were friendly and professional. I had a double room which was modern clean with comfy bed and powerful shower. I ate in the bar and the food was to a good standard. I would happily recommend this hotel and would return if in the area

« Very helpful staff, in a lovely country hotel »

We have stayed here a number of times, and have never been let down, and this time was no exception. We arrived to late for afternoon tea, but the assistant manager managed to rustle up some sandwiches, and a pot of tea which went well, after hours on the motorway. The evening meal was excellent. with very good service. Would I stay here again? Yes

    « Thoroughly enjoyable stay »

We recently spent three nights at this delightful hotel in the picturesque village of Wroxton. Our experience was a very warm, welcoming environment with extremely polite and helpful staff. The hotel is very well kept, with good attention to detail. We found the restaurant and food to be of a consistently high standard and thoroughly enjoyed eating in the hotel each evening. Thank you!

Wow, truly amazing hotel and fantastic staff. All so friendly, go above and beyond and really made our wedding day very special. So many great compliments from our guests. Margaret, Sean, Charlotte, Michelle and everyone else you really did us proud. We can't thank you all enough.

    « Really cosy »

I stayed here on a one night business trip as it was on my route home and I needed a place to stay... What a great find the Wroxton House Hotel was. Just 10 mins off the M40 through a typical surban/Commercial area you suddenly find yourself in a leafy hamblet with thatched cottages and green fields.. and the very pretty Wroxton House Hotel. A very friendly Hotel, staff were very friendly and attentive, rooms were very comfortable, the food was delicious and the décor and general ambience made for a very comfortable stay. I was passing through but if you need a quality hotel in the Banbury area at a very reasonable price look no further... If I'm in the area again I'd definitely choose to stay here.

    « Wedding »

We had our wedding here. We couldn't recommend it enough! Margaret, Sean, Charlotte, Marc and all the staff were so attentive and fabulous. Margaret was brilliant at helping us plan and answering, at times some what frantic, questions. Sean as our MC couldn't have been more attentive and helpful. As were the rest of the staff. The rooms were great and everyone said how comfortable they were. The food was delicious and even my very vegan 16 year old neice was catered for! Thank you Chef. The whole day ran smoothly and we at no point felt rushed or harried. A perfect day. Thank you!

    « Good-looking place »

Very likeable and well-established heritage hotel on the outskirts of Banbury; most convenient for the M40. It gets off to an immediate good start because it so externally attractive. Seems to be formed of a manor house connected to nearby cottages which are built in the local stone and with a thatched roof here or there, plus a more contemporary wing which doesn't look that much out of place at all. The gardens by the entrance have been carefully planned and maintained, and round the back is a capacious car park where space will never be a problem. I imagine the patio in the front is a bit of a magnet in Summer; might want to sort out that dog-end problem in the borders, though. Accessing the hotel by an ornate but cheerily modern porch (which, again, doesn't look that wrong) leads you into the public lobby area where the Reception, Bar and lounge can be found. We got a warm welcome when we arrived, which was consistent throughout our stay. All staff seem friendly, personable and keen to engage. The lady on reception took us on an epic and convoluted route march to our Superior Room which was situated in a rather characterful loft conversion at one of the furthest extremities of the hotel. As we went up stairs, down corridors, around corners and through fire doors it was quite noticeable that the whole place was pristinely spotless throughout and very well insulated against noise; good-condition fitted carpet everywhere helped. We were quite comfortable in our room, which, again, was reached by a flight of stairs once through the door, although space was fairly economic due to the gallery nature of the layout. I found the bed rather narrow for two but the ubiquitous duvet was not quite as intrusive as elsewhere. Plenty of wardrobe and desk space, and tea/coffee facilities are always appreciated. Making loft beams and trusses a feature of the room is also quite unusual. We had a large separate, very white but very clean, bathroom. Didn't get on very well with the pod style shower; the thermostat and mixer dial were quite counter-intuitive so initial use was somewhat of a jolt. The toilet had a markedly feeble flush and the heated towel rail leaked. The latter was reported and attended to commendably quickly, though. And the floor always seemed warm which was quite pleasant. Our room was close to the road just outside the hotel, but any external noise was barely noticeable We had two evening meals in the restaurant whilst staying at the Wroxton House, and this whole area is run very professionally. The room itself seemed to be series of separate chambers maximising the beam and stone effect and all very comfortable in a traditional way. Menus are an interesting twist on some old favourites and well complemented by a reliable and very reasonable wine list. Presentation of all courses was pleasingly artistic. Mrs EPR had a slight blip with her main course on the first night but this couldn't have been handled any more amicably. I have to say that on the second night my starter of pigeon breast followed by a sublime cut of beef was a truly superb meal for a fully paid-up carnivore. And the home made sticky toffee pudding to follow was equally enjoyable. We were back in the restaurant for breakfast, and absolutely nothing but praise. Very efficient with top quality components and a very generous full english - with fried bread that almost brought tears to my eyes. Also the best coffee that I've ever had from a cafetiere - contraptions which I just don't get at all. We spent a brief time in the bar area just outside the restaurant entrance and found it relaxing and comfortable in a non-flamboyant, civilised way. Plenty of room with several nooks and crannies around the multi-level lobby. And check out the cartoons in the nearby gents loo; I wonder what's in the ladies? Didn't spend a lot of time in Wroxton itself as other duties called, but it seemed like nice country village with a pub close by for any alternative food and beverage options. But on a two night offer, we certainly weren't desperate to leave the hotel. I'd be happy to stay again, and have my eye on the Superior Room with Sitting Area, which looks just the sort of suite I go for when travelling abroad. I'd also have no problem giving the Wroxton House a happy commendation on the basis of our visit.

    « Lunchtime visit »

My wife and I called in here for lunch, whilst we were a bit early, they sorted us out with drinks and gave us the menus to pick ready for when we could order. We choose to stay with the bar menu, a very good choice. With order placed the food was quick to come out and it was all very good and freshly cooked. I had the Shenington burger, and boy you can't beat a home made burger, it was huge! And plenty of chips. My wife had the Caesar salad starter as a main, and she enjoyed it. Staff were very attentive, friendly and made sure we were happy with everything. We then had a walk around the Abby grounds and went back for a coffee, again very nice and staff very good.

« Great hotel, escellent food, rooms and staff »

I would highly recommend this hotel, great base for exploring Oxford and the Cotswolds. As with all Best Western Hotels the breakfast is outstanding and at this particular hotel the evening meal is excellent

    « A Perfect Stay »

We always feel very welcome and relaxed when we stay here, 5 times now! The staff are wonderful and nothing is ever too much trouble. The rooms and beds are always spotless, well maintained by the housekeeping staff and very comfortable. The food and service from the restaurant is excellent as is the bar service. We spent Christmas here last year and are disappointed not to be able to do so again this year. However, New Year is looking a distinct possibility. Overall a fantastic place to stay, we'll just keep coming back.

Stayed overnight in Executive double. Lovely room - in old original part of building. Small, comfortable, friendly, easy to stay in hotel in beautiful village. Staff were exceptionally helpful, from reception to bar to waiting staff. Cleanliness of the highest standard. Would highly recommend. Definitely will revisit.

    « Wedding »

We attended a wedding at the Wroxton Hall Hotel. Quite often there can be a drop in quality of meals when you are in a large party but the 3-course meal was probably the best meal I've eaten in a long time. The staff around the hotel were helpful and attentive all day long. I have Coeliac Disease so need gluten free food and I had a member of staff proactively look after me the entire time to ensure I didn't miss out on the celebrations. That rarely happens when I'm socialising so it made the day even better for me that they made the effort. The layout of the hotel was ideal for relaxing and created a calm restful atmosphere. We are not from the local area but would definitely consider booking a break here to spend more time exploring. It was a perfect location for a very special wedding. The Wroxton Hall Hotel ticked all the boxes.

    « Wonderful again »

We rarely stay at the same hotel twice but we simply had to here at Wroxton. We were certainly not disappointed again. The staff simply make this hotel and create a wonderful atmosphere. We stayed in room 17 which was in the roof annexe near the road. We were concerned about the traffic noise which was quite loud in the day but at night it was perfectly OK. It was nice to see more or less the same staff as last time and Charlotte even recognised us. Breakfast was delicious and we ate twice at the restaurant which was delicious. Would totally recommend this hotel and we will no doubt stay again.

    « Great wedding venue. »

Just had our sons wedding and stayed the night. From start to finish it was superb. Lovely wedding service, reception meal was great, evening party and buffet marvelous, room was brilliant and breakfast was just what the doctor ordered. The staff were a delight and a credit to the hotel. I can highly recommend the Wroxton to stay at and as a wedding venue. Thanks for a great day.

The sevice was excellent with very attentive staff who were friendly and very helpful. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The food was very nice both evening meal and breakfast once again excellent service the staff ensure you don't have to lift a finger without being intrusive they maintain the carm relaxed feel to the hotel. A very relaxing stay We will be returning to best western wroxton this is a 3 star hotel but deserves 5 stars

    « Lovely little gem »

Such a lovely hotel and the staff really seemed friendly at reception, function and breakfast. The dinner menu though was not inspiring. There are a few places to visit and will be sure to come back. I would probably upgrade next time rather than having a standard room.

    5
« Continues to Exceed Expectations »

Our second stay at Wroxton House confirmed that they consistently exceed expectations. We cannot praise the staff enough - without exception they are friendly, professional and go above and beyond. Rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean. The restaurant was consistently excellent. We will definitely be returning.

    « Wonderful stay »

We recently had a two night stay at this lovely hotel. Our room was pristine (Deluxe Twin which meant a little more room than the standard). Food plentiful and tastefully presented. Would certainly stay again. Not too far from Blenheim Palace.

    « Friendly Hotel »

My stay at the Wroxton House Hotel was very comfortable. The staff friendly and helpful. I arrived late and was tired after an exhausting few days. As I was on my own I ordered a room service meal which arrived beautifully presented on a tray. The room and bathroom were spotless and only fault was room was too hot for my liking. Breakfast was cooked quickly. I have stayed here before and will certainly stay again if my budget permits. Can recommend.

    « Beautiful room »

This hotel is great value for money. The room was large with 2 TV's, lovely extras like fruit, bottled water, selection of teas, coffee, biscuits in room. Slippers bathrobes even a fan. It was quite luxurious. There isn't a great deal in Wroxton itself but plenty to see near by. The food in the restaurant was excellent and all staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. I couldn't fault this gem of a hotel. I'd definitely come back.

« Last minute night away »

I stayed at the hotel with my hubby in January 2016. We stayed in a superior room with breakfast and dinner. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. It had a balcony. This would likely be nice in summer although it is above the bar and quite a few people stand outside smoking. The bathroom had a claw-foot tub and separate shower. We enjoyed the bar area and the evening meal was very good. The service throughout the hotel is very good. Breakfast is buffet style but was very tasty and smoked salmon was available. We found the hotel relaxing and would return.

    « Valentines Lunch »

A surprise Sunday lunch on valentines day. First impressions were good, nice decor, warm atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. The food was well presented and delicious. The wine list was reasonably priced with a good selection. The dining area was small but it gave the room a cosy intimate feel. Will definitely visit here again.

« Lovely Hotel, friendly staff »

This is our 2nd visit to Wroxton House Hotel and we will be back again. It is a lovely hotel in one of our favourite places. We always upgrade to a superior room and it's like having your own little holiday cottage, Huge beds, comfy sofas, ensuite etc, etc. Our room was spotless and warm. The food was not 5 star Michelin, but tasty and well presented. Our evening dinner did not lack presentation, but did lack a little bit of that little something that would have lifted it from great to brilliant. My wife commented that ALL the staff were friendly, attentive and always ready to help. I'm not sure why this hotel is only 3 stars as we have stayed in a lot of 4 and 5 star hotels that cannot match Wroxton House Hotel. When there take a stroll around Wroxton Abbey, it's beautiful. We will be back sometime later this year to spoil ourselves again!

    5
    « Tranquil quality »

Another rare opportunity to stay at this lovely hotel, prior to visiting a trade show at the NEC the following day. As ever, superb welcome and service from the staff, delightful lounge with great bar food, clean, comfy room, and the main restaurant's fayre is superb: clearly the Wroxton's chef is both talented and imaginative. A bit pricey, but then this is really good dining. Large car park, easy to get to, looking forward to visiting again asap.

« The best hotel in the area of Banbury »

Having stayed in many hotels in Banbury and around, I can say with certainty that the Wroxton House is by far the best hotel around. Few miles away from the city centre the hotel is located in the countryside. Rooms are nice and quiet, tidy and clean. The service is good and professional. The breakfast is really correct too.

« What more could I ask for..... »

Having returned from an over night stay last night, I would highly recommend the Wroxton House Hotel. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the staff were extremely professional, very polite, very friendly and very accommodating. The hotel is immaculate, rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. Having coeliacs it is always a struggle to visit a hotel that caters for my dietary needs without prior notice, on my arrival I advised the receptionist, who informed me not to worry - any of the food could be made gluten free for me. The food was incredible and was not made to feel left out and enjoyed a dish from the menu. Breakfast was the same to, the staff even knew that I needed gluten free and provided cereal - toast without me requesting these items. Would recommend without hesitation.

    « A fine sunday lunch »

Arriving for lunch on a wet and windy day we were welcomed by a staff member as we came through the doors. Pre-lunch drinks arrived promptly along with menus as we sat by the fire, weather now forgotten. The Sunday lunch menu is not overlong, sensibly, but offers a good range including the traditional roasts. Orders were soon taken and we did not have to wait long before we were shown to our table in a comfortable dining room. Starters soon arrived. We enjoyed our food, tasty, good in quantity and well presented. We returned to the lounge for coffee. Service throughout was efficient, friendly and helpful. The hotel has a comfortable atmosphere. We would be happy to return.

    « Very Pleasant »

Staff were ultra polite, food was very good and good selection for breakfast. Bed was really comfy and the rooms were immaculately clean. Night porter was a little hard to find to get a late drink. Real good value for money but it was a Sunday night when we stopped.

    « Another fantastic weekend »

We are a Classic Car Club and for the 2nd year we have just had our Christmas Party and if anything it was even better than last year. Everything was spot on -we had a power cut on Sat evening but they just carried on. The barman was serving by torchlight. Didn't last long but they were so calm and just carried on. The food all arrived at the same time and was hot & tasty. The staff are amazing so friendly & helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Why only a 3* this Hotel is better than many 4* we have stayed at.

« Our Golden wedding Reception »

We chose this hotel for our Reception because of our previous experiences at a similar event and from dining out there as a couple on various occasions. Our expectations were therefore high, but they were surpassed and more so. Through the process of making the arrangements and throughout the event all the staff were superb and indeed even in retrospect we can find nothing that was other than of the highest quality. The attention to detail and unobtrusive but slick and thoughtful service made the difference between the good that we expected and the excellence that we experienced. A very happy occasion was certainly enhanced by the service we received. We would usually highlight one or two negatives in the reviews that we make, but in all honest can think of none, so thank you and well done Wroxton House Hotel!

« Our stay at Wroxton house hotel »

My wife and I stayed 3 nights in December 2015 at this hotel, all of the staff were very helpful and we were very well looked after, even though it was Xmas party season and very busy.we stayed in room 2 nice large room up in the Eve's,there were no adjoining rooms and it was very peaceful.it had a large bathroom with a bath and shower and was spotlessly clean. However it had only a standard bed in size and was past its sell by date it needs urgently replacing.so we would not book this room again unless it gets a new bed,it did spoil an otherwise perfect stay.(it makes us wonder if the beds in the other rooms are in the same poor condition.)

    « Xmas party »

Attended work Xmas party, food was good but I prefer Xmas event that are held in big open space. The tables were scattered about. The dance floor was by the bar (in the entrance) so if you prefer small parties then this is for you. Personally I prefer big parties with lots of people but the hotel is not big enough to cater for that size. It's not located in town so you will need a cab. The rooms are a bit pricey it's worth paying a cab ride to another hotel. I recommend premier inn. Then you can go out on the town too. Mind you Banbury has not got much to offer in terms of night life

Food was extremely bland - no condiments, dressings, sauces. Wouldn't eat there again but after meal disco was excellent - danced the evening away. The starter had no sauce to add to it. The main that I had was salmon served without hollandaise sauce, a block of white stuff which we think was a piece of potato, and my chips (as I don't like roast potatoes) were soggy. Again no condiments. The desert was crackers and cheese. Bland, tasteless dry crackers (no flavoured crackers) and three tiny triangles of cheese. Very poor meal. Extremely tasteless but, as I said, the disco made up for it.

    « Superb Short Break »

Very fortunate to have won a 2 night stay at Wroxton House. Just outside of Banbury, we arrived late afternoon and got a warm welcome on arrival. Quick and easy check in and shown to our room. We were in Room 8, executive room which was spacious, warm, and all the amenities you could need. Plenty of space and even though i found the room overly warm, i could open the windows and the shutters on the windows allowed a nice breeze to flow through. It was clear from the staff and the welcome pack that nothing was too much trouble. All amenities on offer 24/7 Had a nice drink in the lounge before our meal, time to choose food and drinks while nibbling on the complimentary olives and crackers. The dining area has many different areas and all very clean, cosy and very nice. The food was superb and the service attentive without being over bearing. Fresh and beautiful flavours from starter to desserts and the wine list very good and all very reasonably priced. Coffee and later drinks taken back in the lounge tex too the fire while we planned the next day The bed was a little soft for me but my partner LOVED it and she loved the size of the bath and complimentary products. Two big tis in the room, one in sitting area and one for the bed room plus a DAB radio and hub for apple products. Only has old connector but I'm sure if i asked they would have supplied adaptor for new iphone/mac products. Breakfast was covered for everyone. From fantastic full english to large selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts, cereals toes, nuts seeds etc etc 2nd night meal and drinks as good as first night, Faultless. It was my partners birthday and the gentleman serving that night gave us with a complimentary drink of our choice. I know some will say "SO they should" but we felt it a lovely touch and finished off a great day. Im a tall chap, 6ft 3 and i would say room 8 would suit most but having sloped ceiling did involve the odd bang of the head for me, hopefully no one heard the odd expletive that may have slipped out .. ;) We both could not fault our stay at The Wroxton House Hotel and would both like to thank the staff for making out stay so memorable and fun. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Great location to travel too many beautiful places within the Cotswolds and out of the way from any busy traffic. Nice local village pub if you want somewhere else to try a drink. Thanks again to all and wish you a Very Merry Christmas and looking forward to our next visit. Mike & Emma

« Nothing was too much trouble »

Our family had lunch here on Sunday. The food was excellent, the beef was cooked to perfection, the sea bass was good as was the turkey. The staff are a credit to the management, nothing was too much trouble.

« Worthy of the high ratings but just short of excellent »

From the reviews this is clearly a very well run hotel. It's comfortable and the staff are friendly; the price was reasonable. Only short of excellent as the room was a bit small and 'motel'-like. Breakfast a little ordinary. But definitely recommended.

    « Christmas Party & overnight stay »

This is the 3rd year that our club have held our annual Christmas Party at the Wroxton House Hotel. The staff are welcoming, helpful and pleasant, the hotel is clean, cosy and comfortable, the food is excellent - often hotels fall down on mass catering at these events, not the Wroxton! No doubt we'll see you again next year.

    « Exceptional »

There is nothing to fault at this hotel from the staff, décor, quality of food and overall service and experience. Although we only staying for 1 night we are booking to return in January, also later in 2016. THANK YOU!

    « Exceeded all expectations »

As a party of six attending a wedding at a local venue, Wroxton House exceeded all expectations which is largely due to the wonderful staff. The rooms are spotless, the food was very good, the ambience is wonderful, but the staff were exceptional. The hotel was catering to both a Xmas Party and a Wedding on site during our stay and it would have been easy for the focus to be the larger parties; however the staff went out of their way to make sure that we were happy and took a genuine interest in our plans. Nothing was too much trouble. You can find good facilities in a number of venues, but never have we been made to feel so welcome in a UK hotel. Highly recommended.

    « Comfortable »

Welcoming, comfortable hotel probably more suited to the middle and upper age range. First class staff and service. Clean, well maintained and thoroughly recommended for a quiet relaxing stay. A genuine effort to make your stay successful.

    « Check Your Bill »

I was at the Wroxton House last Sunday, with family, for a special birthday lunch. A lovely hotel in a quaint village with plenty of parking. The reception is off to the left - not that obvious to find. The meal and waiting staff were excellent - I couldn't fault it. Unfortunately, when it came to the bill and receptionist, that was another matter. A word of warning be sure to check your bill. There were 12 of us having two and three courses. I was charged for 12 x three courses and then 12 x two courses. Also, the deposit had not been taken off. I had also been charged for someone else's 'orange juice and splash'. I pointed this out to Amanda who went to the bar to get a new bill issued. No word of apology. She came back and I stated again the deposit had not been taken off and the 12 coffees we had ordered back in the lounge were not included. Her reply was "leave the coffees, I'm not getting up and going down the stairs again, it won't do my back any good". I was most surprised at this unprofessionalism. All this took a good 20 minutes and those of us travelling a distance wanted to get on the motorway before it became very dark. On Monday morning I rang the hotel and spoke to Betty, who had been most helpful on the telephone when final confirmations were made on Saturday. Betty (& Margaret) are both professional and friendly. I explained the situation and that I wished to pay for the coffees. I said I'd also pay for the orange juice and splash as I couldn't be bothered with it anymore, but Betty kindly removed that and we dealt with the second bill. At least I got a genuine apology then. Why do the youngsters have a 'couldn't care less attitude'? When I rang on the previous Thursday, the young girl hadn't a clue. All in all we had a lovely time, it's just a shame this issue overshadowed things, but all was sorted by helpful Betty in the end. I recommend this hotel, but do thoroughly check your bill at the end.

    « Another fantastic stay »

We got married here in November last year, fantastic hotel and wedding venue. For our first anniversary we returned and stayed the night again. Once again a fantastic experience, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and our meal in the restaurant was brilliant. Overall we love staying here and cant wait to find another excuse to stay the night again, you are never disappointed and always feel very welcoming. A little gem of a hotel.

    « What a great place! »

This was our second trip and it certainly won't be our last. The staff are the best we have come across and we do get about a lot. The rooms are comfortable with everything you need and everything works as it should - one of the best fixed over bath showers I have come across. The breakfast buffet has a good choice and the cooked breakfast was very good. We had a cream tea as part of our deal, next time we will ask for a cream tea for one on each day as it was very hard to resist and we could hardly move afterwards! The dinner menu gave plenty of choices and chef was very happy to make an alteration to a dish to suit me. The venison I had on the 2nd night was probably one of the best dinners I have had in many years. Congratulations to you all, our party of four were all very satisfied and we all agreed that we will be back soon.

    « Enjoyable stay »

This was a very positive stay in a good hotel. It deserves its high rating with tripadvisor. The rooms are comfortable, if a little small, and the beds excellent. The area is quiet and pleasant. Recommended.

    « Just Nice »

The staff were welcoming and the room lovely. I even inquired about a picture in the bar area and received an email after i had checked out about where I could find the artist's web site. That is what I call service.

    « so sad »

Enjoyed, but why would you reheat potatos.and its perfectley ok to use the lunch time lamb but it has to be cooked (or even reheated) proficiently. I am totally confused as you have always been good, is it just a one off or cost cutting ? No champagne by the glass but small bottles of proseca should have told me accountants may have taken over fron good hoteliars and good chefs. Always been one of my favourite places but ? Had a good night but sad.

« Charming hotel in quiet location »

We stayed two nights on the weekend of October 10th at this hotel in the quiet village of Wroxton, just outside Banbury. We could not have made a better choice. In addition to Banbury, it is well-located for short trips to Oxford, Coventry, Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding countryside. The large car park is free and there was never a problem with finding a space, even with a wedding celebration on the Saturday evening. The hotel is in a collection of adjoined buildings, some very old with thatched roofs, but all are very well-maintained. The interiors are all updated and modern. The bar, lounges and dining room are beautifully decorated, cozy and comfortable. We stayed in a very clean, spacious and well-equipped executive king room on the second floor with a large modern bathroom. One of the highlights of this hotel are its staff. Invariably friendly and professional, they cannot do enough for you to make sure your stay is enjoyable. From the front desk to the bar and dining room, every one has a great attitude and top-notch customer service skills. They are all prepared and eager to do that "little extra" that makes such a difference when travelling. The breakfasts are plentiful and delicious with a good assortment of hot and cold dishes. We also had dinner here on the Sunday evening. The menu offered an excellent selection. Our choices were well-prepared, well-presented and delicious. The service was impeccable. Finishing the evening off with coffee and liqueurs in the bar near the fireplace, chatting with other guests, was the perfect end to the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus Wroxton House and would not hesitate to return. We highly recommend it, if you are in the area.

    « Top Quality Hotel »

We have stayed in many Best Western and all types of Hotels and the Wroxton House Hotel is up there with the Top Hotels on our fairly short list.Rather than say how well they did in each area it's better to say it was virtually faultless. If you enjoy comfortable Hotels in the countryside where peace and quiet are important to you then this is for you.All the staff smile and offer there help to you.The Room we had was comfortable clean and had a very large comfortable Bed.Breakfasts are first class with everything you expect and then more. Well Done to all at the Hotel.

« Great place to stay »

We stayed here for a couple of nights to meet up with some friends. The accommodation, food and facilities are very good as are the very friendly staff. This was our second stay and we are planning another one in the not too distant future. The hotel is very well situated for a wide range of activities and places to visit and is set in a charming village location.

« Great Walking Holiday Base »

We regularly go with a walking party for four day stays around the country and voted our stay at Wroxton House the best yet. From start to finish, we were made to feel welcome and at home. Nothing seemed too much trouble, the organisation appeared to be seamless, the food was great and the hotel spotless. Without exception the staff were excellent, always friendly and helpful. Our party were totally enamoured with Wroxton and have all expressed a desire to return.

« Overnight stay near Banbury »

An excellent hotel based upon a string of (very old) cottages in this small village, fully and tastefully modernised within, with modern attached accommodation, and an excellent car park, Food very good, with a good and wide choice, a well stocked bar and varied lounge areas. All staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable.

    « Excellent Sunday lunch »

    « Delightful country hotel »

The Wroxton House hotel near Banbury is a delightful hotel. whilst the building and restaurant have old-world charm, the bedrooms are well appointed, comfortable and have the feeling of being recently refurbished. The staff are pleasant and efficient. The breakfast buffet had a modest selection and the delicious hot food was very quickly served.

    « Beautiful hotel »

Having stayed here for two nights we were very pleased with the overall service and friendliness of the staff here. The breakfast we could not fault and our room was lovely and fresh and clean looking with tea and coffee etc; replenished each day. We just wished we could have stayed longer, but do plan on returning again next year.

« Still as good as ever »

The problem is that when you visit a place time after time, you are by the law of averages going to have a less than good experience. Well, I am prepared to take that risk and I am hopeful this will never happen. Consistently excellent, spotlessly clean, friendly attentive staff, very comfortable. Whether for business or pleasure it is the ideal venue.
