Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel

This place has potential but something just doesn't work. Like other reviews, decor is old. Sitting for dinner - the dining room is bare and soulless. I asked for some music and they said that they wedding next door were doing speeches so no. We were not informed that there would be a wedding Food ok but one staff on his phone and 5 minutes later no one in the room and wanted salt - cellars were salt and pepper - went to another table, sat back down - salt was empty - surely a member of staff who has time to be on his mobile has time to check salt and pepper. Booked and had confirmed room for 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) and upon arrival even though the room as ready early (great) it didn't have the kids Z beds made up like it suggested would be the case on the booking confirmation. Calling down to the reception - pressing 'reception' on the phone does not work but pressing zero did - the lady said' we don't have any rooms for 4 people' so I had to explain that we had confirmation it was possible. Staff did set up on filthy looking Z bed mattresses. Bedding itself clean Best Western Signage is awful - this place needs Hotel Inspector because some of the staff are trying hard to make this place work but they don't have the tools to make it better. Thought we would have a before-dinner drink and the bar was freezing - the DJ was setting up for the evening part of the wedding but with doors wide open for equipment and we were huddled against a radiator. Zero atmosphere and the wedding completely took precedent We had a query for the manager and 2 came up to us to discuss. We said we already spoke to a manager and he said 'no - I am the manager tonight' at which point the second manager DID come out and HAD sorted our query out already. There just seems to be some sort of disconnect between all parts of this hotel and no-one taking control. Building itself is beautiful but needs a cash injection.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, staff went out their way during our 3 nights here. Rooms very clean and comfortable beds, food in the bar was lovely and reasonably priced. Car park large enough to always find a space which was great, beautiful views from the room, what more could you ask for!

Hotel was amazing would highly recommend, all staff friendly and helpful and made our stay great. Rooms spotless and spacious with everything we needed, bed was so comfortable we didn't want to leave. The views from the Hotel are stunning.

I have always liked best Western hotels for leisure stays, because they are usually full of character, and this was no disappointment. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony with fantastic views down to Bradford upon Avon. Staff, very friendly, dinner and breakfast good value for money, and nice, my only comment would be to do something about the hideous paint job in the main restaurant, NHS Brown, yuck, but that's not enough to keep us away!.

Pleasant elegant hotel in good location, with plenty of parking. Pretty main rooms for tea and the bar all with views over the area. Pleasant and helpful staff, efficient service at the self-service breakfast. Pleasant bedrooms, some with seating area in bay windows overlooking the valley.

Lovely picturesque surroundings. Nice hotel with good wide space for socialising. Very welcoming and friendly staff. In particular Chris, who looked after us in the restaurant, was really fun and friendly. Very easy to talk to and very kind. Wpuld recommend a visit!

Thank you for a wonderful experience. The food was lovely and filling. Chris the waiter was friendly and approachable and made the evening lovely. We were given time and not rushed.The rooms were large and warm. Limpley Stoke Hotel is beautiful and we shall be regular visitors.

Lovely countryside hotel just a few minutes from Bath City Centre. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Fantastic views from the room. Staff were friendly and a special mention must go to Chris. He really is an asset to the hotel. Plenty of parking and bar prices are very reasonable. We didn't eat from the restaurant but we did have a couple of sandwiches and chips from the bar menu. The food was plentiful and tasty. We stayed for one night as we were seeing a show at The Forum. Taxi was £18 each way.

The hotel stands proud on the side of the valley. We found ample parking on our arrival. The friendly staff were very welcoming and made our stay pleasant. The hotel is in need of some modernisation and repairs, but it was clean and comfortable. We will stay again, as it was good value and relaxing after a day at work.

We came to stay the first week of work in bath and honestly the only reason we decided to stay In the same hotel was because of the absolute class and sheer quality workmanship of Chris the scouse legend and Patrick and absolute geezar Canot wait to come back wether for work or holiday only back for the main guy Chris

Amazing hotel staff always there to help we had our wedding in 2023 my husband became ill and the staff really helped we had our wedding reception at the weekend and it was amazing thank you limply stoke hotel we will book again for our next anniversary

Very disappointed with the hotel, the place was tired and lacked any kind of soul or comfort. The room was very basic with a very cheap mattress and thin bedding, luckily I did bring my own pillow and our friends asked for another quilt to sleep on as the mattress was so uncomfortable. The water pressure was very low making a shower very difficult to control temperature. The breakfast was very basic and bought out at 7 and already going cold and would sit there for hours and not changed, despite having to say what time we would go for breakfast there was no freshly cooked items when we came at 8 or even for those arriving at 9. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful (especially Chris in the bar) and tried to sort the problems and improve our stay.

The food was lovely, staff friendly and available, especially Chris was the nicest waiter , so friendly and welcoming , and tendered to our every need without no delays . Would have no hesitation in recommending and such a warm welomomg vibe when you come.

A lovely old hotel set in beautiful well kept grounds with stunning scenery all around, this is a quiet location and has everything you could need for your stay. The location is near to Bath and has some lovely quaint villages on route.

Let me start by stating that each of the staff that we came across at Limpley Stoke Hotel, from the Deputy Manager to the Receptionist, went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. A big Thank you to each: without them, Great Western Hotels would be in even deeper trouble! We booked a night to cover a family reunion. Our first priority was to have either a ground floor room, or one serviced by a lift. We were allocated a second floor room, adjacent to the lift. On arrival we were eventually told the lift was broken, and had been since the day we booked. I do accept that the lift finally died after our booking rather than before, but had been ‘on the blink' for a while! It is often misquoted that ‘the camera never lies', but I have to say, comparing website images with the real thing, that the camera was certainly an outrageous flatterer! I assure you that no animals were harmed during the course of the experiment, but it was impossible to swing a cat in our ‘Double en-suite room'. We did have a shower, but this was in no sense easy access, and caused some anxiety on using. The Public rooms seemed grubby and uninviting - but I have to admit that the bar food we sampled in the evening, and the morning breakfast, was excellent, and this despite catering simultaneously for a large wedding. So I again thank the cheerful and very pleasant staff, who did their best under difficult conditions. We hope the Corporate Management will take note, realise that more needs to be done, especially for guests with disabilities, because at present, we sadly cannot recommend the Limpley Stoke Hotel!

Very Expensive for what it is. Rooms are dated, three couples booked three rooms, all three rooms had issues with bathrooms. Breakfast was very basic. Weddings most nights, so be prepared for noise and drunken load mouthed guests. The bar is shared between guests and the wedding party, so you will feel uncomfortable. The reception staff are methodical but very slow.

Looking at some of the negative reviews, I had feared our stay would not be great. In fact, overall it turned out to be quite decent. The hotel is situated in a truly lovely part of the country. The room was of a good size, and the bed was very large, and reasonable supportive. The bathroom was just OK, although the shower cubicle was a tight fit, and the water controls were rather temperamental. Food wise, breakfast was quite good, and there was the offer of eggs as you liked them in addition to the buffet offering of scrambled. We had dinner there, as the nearby pub was undergoing refurbishment and we didn't fancy driving somewhere else. The food was very plain and unimaginative— fine if that's what you like, but if you aspire to something a bit more fancy you'll be disappointed. The wine list was reasonably adequate; we tried a bottle of the Chilean Merlot, which was rather nice. Would we return? Certainly, but we might try to have dinner elsewhere.

Fantastic venue for our friends wedding. The staff were all amazing and every detail was to perfection. Special shout out to Chris the barman, so friendly and very professional and efficient with his bar duties. Thanks Chris

Stayed here with family, the building is beautiful on the outside. Inside it is very old and outdated and need of a lot of time and attention. Rooms smelled really bad. Outdated furniture in rooms and social areas. Amenities in rooms were old and felt like fire risks when in use. Old mattresses. Showers leaking to the room below, when the maintenance man came to check he pushed his finger to the floor outside the shower and his finger made a hole in the floor. No room service provided. Bad wifi signal. 1130pm bar closes and no other services provided after this time. Uneven floors. Main staircase and halls dirty and need a hoover and dusting. Stunning location but you can find a better hotel in the area for the prices that limpey ask for. It is not value for money. If you do stay ask for chris at the bar. He was the most friendly staff member and a lovely man!

Lovely staff, neat clean and tidy, beautiful grounds great views ,lots of different ages, children upto 74+. Also we notice they hold meetings there. Great for getting into Bath for a day out. Not far away from Longleat as well.

My first error was thinking that we would be staying with a well-known large chain of hotels. In actual fact Best Western is a membership organisation, each hotel being independently owned/managed. It has taken me a long time to submit this review, negativity doesn't come easily. Being disabled, I telephoned the Best Western sales team, rather than booking over the Internet, to guarantee an accessible room. The basics that I would expect (and need) being step-free access, walk-in shower and grab rails. I was informed that my first choice of hotel did not have a vacant accessible room on my required date, I was offered an accessible room in an hotel near by at BW Limpley Stoke Hotel. Reviews looked ok, so I booked, over 2 months in advance. Upon arrival we were allocated room 36 - but entering this room, we did not think that it was an accessible room at all, step-free being the only concession. My husband immediately queried this with Reception, but was assured that it was one of their accessible rooms. They did bring an anti-slip shower mat and 1 stick-on portable grab rail (apparently, they didn't have any more) but we felt that this was not enough to label this room as accessible. Following a difficult stay, followed up with a complaint, an email was received from management - admitting that their main "access" room was not available and that we were then allocated their next best room. Apparently if they had realised my needs prior to arrival, they may have advised that a stayover may have been impractical for us. There have been many good reviews for this hotel, sadly mine is not one of them. It is a bit tired but the staff are very friendly. If I had been allocated room 100 perhaps I would feel differently. As it is, I am left feeling cheated! I have learnt to ask more questions, photos would be appreciated and to book with a credit card, in order to claim back when things are not as expected. I have no idea what room 100 is actually like and I do not wish to re-visit to try and find out. A deeply unsatisfied disabled guest. No recommendation from me!

The hotel is set in the country considering its only a few miles outside Bath, its in a very quiet setting, the rooms are a good size, we stayed in a standard room with en-suite, which was spotless, the room doesn't get serviced every day, but the reception will ask you if you require it to be cleaned for the duration of your stay if you request it, the food is excellent, in both restaurants, the prices are competitive with some of the bars and restaurants in town the staff are very friendly, you can also book your table for breakfast and evening meal with reception at check in if required, during our stay we used the park and ride at Odd Town about 4 miles away , its signposted at the traffic lights at the main road, its a lot cheaper than paying for parking in bath coz it's very expensive, eg, £4.50 FOR 2 Hours stay we'll definitely come back to Limpley Stoke

Staff were amazing Chris evening barman amazing great fun excellent. Breakfast was amazing great selection. Chris again made our evening with his wit and humour. The bar wouldn't be the same without him.

Stayed for one night before the open day at Bath University as we wanted to arrive the day before and get to the campus early. We had a twin room on the first floor overlooking the carpark and the railway but could see our over the valley which was beautiful. A wedding reception was in full swing but we were able to sit outside on the terrace and enjoyed watching the festivities! The food was very tasty and the service from Chris at the bar was great. We had a good night's sleep and the breakfast really set us up for the day. The hotel is quite old but is full of character and we enjoyed our stay very much.

he hotel is in a fantastic location with lovely views from the terrace. On a warm evening it was just nice relaxing outside with a drink and enjoying the view. Our room however was a little sad but such a large and hotel must be difficult to maintain. The first night we ate in the hotel because it was our wedding anniversary. The food was deliceous and the service excellent. Well worth the money. We found the bar menu on the second night very limited and extremely average. Overall however it was an enjoyable stay.

Staff are all very warm and friendly. Chris at the bar happy to engage in small talk. The girls in the restaurant remember an old face. Reception was accommodating and happy to handle issues with ease.breakfast always quality local produce and it was clear from the taste. Sausages to die for.

Lovely hotel to the south of Bath. Easy to drive to Park and Ride to enjoy time in Bath. Hotel room was clean but needed updating and we looked out over the back of the hotel so upgrade your room if possible. Food was satisfactory overall very good. The views from the patio area were superb.

Needed somewhere to work for the day to break our long drive to the south coast for a holiday. Enabled us to miss most of the Friday bank holiday traffic. Lovely rural location as well. Even the public areas were quite enough for me to work undisturbed.

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely old hotel. The bedroom was well equipped, small but very comfortable. The restaurant was nice and the food was excellent, but our stay was made to feel more special because of the bar staff, Chris was friendly, funny and made us feel very welcome. The room was boiling hot, the provided portable evaporation cooling device didn't make any difference. we checked out two hours after checking in as it was unbearable to stay. We were not offered another room nor the reasonable compensation. Would never stay in that hotel again.

The pictures on the booking sites and websites gives you a different impression to what you see when you arrive, which gave a sense of disappointment when we arrived. The building is old on the exterior and the interior is equally tired. The bar was small and there wasn't really anywhere to sit to have drink with a relaxing atmosphere.

2 night stay at hotel, to visit Bath and Bristol. So pleased we chose this one instead of a city hotel. Canal walks close by with cycle paths to Trowbridge and Bath and beyond. Peaceful stay, relaxing in garden with drinks and the admiring views.

A lovely old hotel. House keeping excellent, our room was spotless. Plenty of tea and coffee and milk. Restaurant and Bar staff very pleasant. Front of house staff welcoming and cheerful. Everything worked in our room from plumbing to electricals, our view was lovely across the valley. Our bed was very comfortable, and bedding excellent. Food - we ate from bar menu, it was ok, don't expect amazing but perfectly ok. Garden has lovely peaceful view across valley. The only downside is the hotel really needs a refresh to bring it into 21st century, a USB plug in our room would have very handy. Decoration needs a refresh, but to be honest I'm not sure how to refresh the hotel without losing its charm of being an older hotel. Would we stay again? Yes we happily would.

It's the people that make it. They are operationally excellent, warm and good-humoured. Lovely location. One or two spots in the hotel that need decorative refreshment but that applies to so many after the difficult Covid experience and given current cost issues. Spent a while working in the hotel industry and am quite hard to please!

Yes! The hotel looked like a million from the photos on Booking.com. Yes! The view over the valley was magnificent. But also: It was old, and it showed. Worn hallways, carpets, lobby area, rooms. Finding the room was like going through as labyrinth, up stairs, down stairs, up again – interesting architecture form older times... All in all: Better looking from the outside then the inside. Huge dining room with a pleasant surprise: A very serviceminded and helpful server – she was there again for breakfast the next day. She was worth the stay – the personal touch is important!

We recently had our wedding here. From start to finish Karen the wedding coordinator was amazing. She explained everything and was always at the end of an email or call. We couldn't have asked for a better day. All of our guests were extremely happy too. The hotel staff were friendly and approachable. My only downfall would be the that some of the bedrooms do need some TLC but that is my only criticism. Would recommend for a quiet night away or even for a wedding!

The building could do with gutting and a complete re-furb. The use of rooms is utterly wrong - breakfast is held in a dark, dull soulless room, whilst the best room facing the valley view - characterful and with all the light - mostly sits empty. Needs a visit from The Hotel Inspector, who can advise on improvements. Sadly the train track cannot be moved - the location of this hotel will be appreciated by anyone who loves the sound of trains rushing by frequently. The staff, although mainly pleasant, were highly unprofessional upon checkout. It was not a good experience.

It was an amazing experience in the side of the beautiful Bath City, calm and relaxing area. Quiet easy to reach the bus to the city or an Uber "not all day long is as easy". Breakfast was good but for me I would like to have some cheese and cold cuts as well little of vegetables

The Bed was hard as a rock so much so I couldn't sleep. The bathroom taps were back to front. But the food was very good. The staff lovely. Was there for a wedding. The setting is glorious. When I booked the room I was not given an option.

Prompt, excellent service from friendly, well informed staff enable relaxation in the comfortable and well appointed and beautifully converted historic building. Elegant decor and excellent food, matched by welcoming and knowledgeable bar and dining staff all serve to make this an expierence that you would wish to repeat rather than forget. Excellent as a base for exploring the countryside, the nearby citites and sites or just for that wonderful peaceful weekend break

3 stays at this hotel with an issue every time with no apologies , I should have learnt my lesson but wanted to give the Hotel more than one chance thinking the first two were slight oversights , maybe not

Nikolas my waiter was amazing. He was kind, quick and passionate about what he was doing. It was great customer service from him, and made my experience 10 times better as most waiters usually are miserable and tired but he was not. And it was a good breath of fresh air to see it. Therefore i will also be rating this venue a 5 stars. Thank you Nik.

This is our third visit and we plan on returning again. The staff are lovely especially the Scouse bar man. We had such a great day and even though there was a wedding on there was plenty of space for us to find somewhere to enjoy the surroundings. We can't wait to return on our next adventure in Bath

We were at the hotel for my son's wedding. The staff were so attentive, especially Chris the barman from Liverpool. Our room was lovely with double aspect views over the Cotswold countryside. The food in the hotel was very good and a reasonable price. The whole day was magical.

Lovely hotel and very nice staff especially scouser Chris. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the views are great in the back of the hotel on the terrace. The bar meals are very good and the staff are very friendly and very helpful . I hope you stay there for a long time Chris you're doing a great job.

Great welcome from reception really friendly and informative. I have to give a special mention to Chris the scouse guy who was working the bar. Really welcoming and genuinely went out of his way to make me feel welcome. Top recommendation for the fish and chips and was always ensuring I was ready for my next drink. Really nice guy to talk to and is a credit to this hotel.

Brought my wife here for her birthday and really enjoyed our stay. Attentive staff, friendly and helpful. Good food, especially the breakfast which is absolutely superb. The house feels a little tired in places but it adds to the charm, far better than the identikit hotels built from scratch. Stairs creak, doors are wonky and something feels very cosy about the place.

This was a clean, cosy, peaceful place to arrive at after a long day in transit. Would highly recommend. The bar and restaurant were friendly, with lovely food and were very considerate about our arrival time.

Weekend away to meet with family in Bath. No room to stay at their flat. Whilst Limpley is south of Bath. It has easy access by public transport to Bath. Great example of a privately owned hotel under the best Western banner

Such a great find close to Bath. Take a local bus to the City centre. Perfect for a romantic break or business trip. We love this place. The staff are friendly and efficient and know and deliver great service for a small hotel.

Very hard and uncomfortable bed. Dirty bathroom. Old and dated. Bad smell. Ill fitting door and curtains. Noisy cleaner at 9am on a Sunday. Loads of stairs and no lift. All the furniture is very old as well.

Having stayed at quite a few different hotels in the Bath area I think this Hotel is one of the best for value and experience. In a cold and wet January the hotel was warm both in the bedroom and also the bar and lounge. Staff are very helpful and pleasant and I and a relative had good food at the bar and I enjoyed a hearty breakfast. The hotel has free parking and its location is very pleasant and quite. I would not look at booking any other hotel again when I next visit Bath. Having stayed here before in about 2017 and 2023.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was larger than expected and very clean. Towels lovely and white and soft. Excellent breakfast included in price. A la Carte dinner was very good value, good choice and presented well. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at this hotel for a short break between Christmas and New Year with friends. It was lovely. The rooms were clean and had great views and the total cleanliness was good. We had a plug outage on our floor, and the manager and staff were very quick to resolve this, getting an engineer out within the hour. The food was good, and the staff were excellent, right from check-in to check out and in between. It was an extremely pleasant stay and I would stay there again. The only one little criticism I have is that the hotel is tired and could do with a lift with a lick of paint and perhaps some new decor. Aside from that, we had a lovely stay.

On arrival at the hotel took quite a long time at reception. Went to the room and it was it was freezing cold tried to phone down to reception but the phone was engaged all the time eventually went down and asked him to put the heating on. Breakfast was good in the morning and there was lots of it

Windows full of condensation and mould which our daughters bed was next to. Radiator not warming up and making a hissing noise from vale had to turn it off. There was a wedding so extremely busy and at 12:30 at night there we arguments and guests running around using foul language. No one seemed to care.

Stayed here for one night for a business trip with colleagues. Hotel in a lovely situation and staff very friendly and helpful. Evening meal was excellent. Limited bar choice of beers (would have been good to have some real ale on tap rather than the ubiquitous over chilled Doom Bar). Rooms quite small and adequate but in need of some modernisation - bath in my room took 20 minutes to partially (about 1/4) fill and was quite tepid. Good value for the price.

Rooms were quite small but manageable for one night. Mattress you could feel body impressions in it, making it super uncomfortable, was also like sleeping on a slab of bricks. Pillows weren't much better. Water for the shower was lukewarm, disappointing given how cold it is outside. Breakfast was a huge disappointment for £10pp onto of the room, wish we had just gone somewhere in Bath to eat Couldn't fault the staff nor the beautiful location, just wish we had spent less money and stayed at the holiday inn instead

The staff I spoke to did not seem to care, first night the bar person seemed to value his talk with other staff over serving guests. Noise every morning about 7 loud from our room, I had to ask for a room spruce because I had a nose bleed but cleaners were in a group chatting, the day we left layer in bed and at about 11 thought to have a shower but no hot water, I said enough is enough and we left a day early, spoilt break.

Nice hotel, comfortable and clean. The location was ideal for us to visit Bath. Breakfast was a huge disappointment. The selection was good and tasted great but lukewarm at best and the tea was terrible.

The hotel is part of the Best Western family and situated in the village of Limpley Stoke on the outskirts of Bath. We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is a popular venue for weddings and such an event was being serviced on one of our evenings. The event was well manged and we did not experience any inconvenience. Of course there was a certain noise level but our evening rest was not affected. We had dinner in the hotel for convenience on the first evening. The staff are helpful and attentive although there were some minor competence issues in places. The hotel is a country house surrounded by lovely countryside. Parking is tight if the hotel is holding events such as weddings.

Good points about staying here, Staff really friendly, room nice and cosy, on second night we had food in the restaurant it was really nice, Bad points, Housekeeping does not come in to your room, On the first night we went in the bar for a drink it was so cold even though there was a fire lit, on the second night we went in the restaurant for dinner at least 5 people were sat with their coats on due to the room being so cold, one couple asked to be moved next to a radiator and they said it wasn't even turned on. We then went on the bar for a drink once again it was cold so went went up to our room just so we could get warm. This is such a shame as they are losing out on guest not spending money, we were going to have breakfast before we left but did not want to sit in the cold.

On our special day the receptionist was rude and unhelpful and refused to let my hair and make up and dress fitter up to my room despite showing her credentials and hair dryer etc . They had to call me, my then future husband was not allowed to know his own brothers room number which he had forgotten, fortunately he came down to reception which was lucky

The carpet in the room was badly stained in numerous places. The bathroom was exceptionally cold. No TV in room. On the plus side the breakfast had a good selection apart from the tea flask being broken.

The room did not look like the pictures shown, it was dated. The view outside our window was a creepy old cabin and there was condensation on the window as well. There was a loud wedding party going on right next to the reception while we were trying to check in so had to wait a while. The room provided for non wedding guests was next door to the wedding so it felt like we were still in the middle of it all, the room was also freezing cold, empty and boring. The staff were kind, but over all dissapointed.

Old but modernised hotel not the easiest to find Stayed two nights and the Heating was on (late November time and cold outside) good breakfast, bar, lounge, staff very helpful Rooms size ok but small bathroom and beware of bath and shower which was very slippery when wet as no grab holds, plus our bathroom floor has a 50mm step in it in the middle which was not good or safe and you have to get into bath first to turn on taps as the shower door will open only one way due to small wash basin next to it on one side Staff very helpful but also note that as no housekeeping you have to make your own bed! travelling worldwide in 50 years never had to do this??

We stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting the Bath Christmas Market. Our stay was enjoyable and the hotel ticked all our boxes. It was clean, the restaurant had a varied menu, great value for money and food was delicious, including the breakfast. Yes the hotel looks a little tired in places but for the money we really couldn't crumble. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would certainly stay here next time.

We stayed at this hotel on a Saturday evening for a quiet romantic getaway for my boyfriend‘s birthday on the website it seems to have a beautiful bar big open fire and grounds to walk around with two large car parks. However the hotel we booked a wedding in taken both car parks completely up and all of the facilities for guests when we went to use the bar downstairs we were told that we could sit in the lounge area that was absolutely freezing cold and covered in dirty plates and glassware we went over to the bar and said that it's freezing in there and there's play they said that we could join the wedding party in the bar unfortunately we were made to feel quite uncomfortable by the wedding party I'm sure as you can imagine they didn't want strangers joining them but sadly this was our only option as the local pub was closed and there was nowhere in walking distance to visit. When we arrive we plan to eat in the hotel however due to the wedding been in there and within 10 minutes feeling uncomfortable due to lack of parking and lack of communication between me and the staff at reception we decided to driving to Bath to find somewhere to eat bath itself was lovely and wasn't far and easy to get to from the hotel the hotel is beautiful sadly just very cold and the wedding party had taken over the whole hotel so there wasn't room for anybody else. The room cost £180 and I was quite upset actually on leaving and there was nobody to talk to a cold shower took 15 minutes to warm up to lukewarm temperature in the lounge when we went for a casual drink in the evening was filthy and covered in leftover food and plates and the bar area was made to feel uncomfortable by the fact that we were joining a wedding who we had no idea who were. Breakfast was also a shambles we took a seat in the first room as there was nobody to guide us way to set for us to be given dirty looks by people so we got up and moved to another area where I understand this is not the hotels fault of how being made to feel uncomfortable by other guests but I'm sure you can imagine it's a lot of money for one night we travel two hours to visit this beautiful hotel to be severely disappointed. We joined breakfast quite late and it's understandable we were probably the last guest to join for breakfast but half of breakfast was missing and nobody came round to refill apart from the orange juice we stay downstairs for approximately seven minutes due to feeling uncomfortable.

We stayed as part of a wedding party, our room was exactly what we needed, clean, spacious and welcoming. My husband is a wheelchair user and i must say the staff were very helpful, laying ramps if needed etc at the drop of a hat. Highly recommended, we will definitely return if we are ever in the area.

The Best western Limpley Stoke Hotel is around 5 miles outside Bath. Bus stop6 mins down road . Bus D1 hourly service into bath or drive , but be aware of clean air charge in city. Hotel has character and is old , shows on some parts of the outside and in. .Basic double room was good with a bath and was nice and warm. Breakfast was buffet , fair amount of choice ask if you cant see what you want they may well do for you, Weddings seem a theme so can be a bit noisy and hard for car parking. All staff were friendly, except for a cleaner who slammed every door and made as much noise as possible in the mornings. Nice place to stay and exploor in warmer months.

My mum and I spent two nights at this hotel for a weekend away in Bath. The hotel is secluded in a lovely location, however due to weddings being on both nights that we were there (and another guest informed us there had been weddings two nights before as well) it was a nightmare to park as it was filled with wedding guests. The bar, which we were told we could use, was also filled with the wedding parties both nights and so we felt we couldn't intrude. The - less than hospitable - lady at the front desk encouraged us to use the lounge in event of the bar being busy, however the lounge consisted of a few brown leather sofas, not a lot else and was cold to boot. The rooms themselves were okay, rather tired looking, and also quite cold. Although the chap on reception did supply us with a portable heater when I asked him how to turn the radiator on. To be honest the entire place seems as though it could do with some TLC. All in all, it wasn't a very hospitable experience, which is a shame considering how lovely the area is.

We stayed 1 night for a wedding :) the whole day went smoothly, the food was nice & it seemed so organised Lovely room, Lovely setting, Lovely breakfast & The staff were amazing throughout the whole day and night!!! Thank you so much , we will be back again another time for sure!

We stayed at the Limply Stoke Hotel for 2 nights , we travelled into Bath every day not far about 15mins in a car , beautiful surroundings , hotel staff lovely , the room we had , had a king-size bed very clean , decorated nice , bathroom lovely , all round very nice stay

Great location, close to Bath city centre. 10/15 mins drive and away from hustle & bustle. Beautiful setting, would definitely stay again. Real country hotel, the creaky stairs just add to the charm. Roaring fire in the lounge, was absolutely relaxing and just what the doctor ordered.

Far enough out to be quiet and surrounding countryside is great for walking, plenty to see within a few miles. Staff are very nice, and room and food we're very good for the money. Building has character so don't expect modern, but our room was perfectly adequate.

Me and my Mom stayed here when we went to see Anastacia. The building is beautiful and so are the grounds. It's very grand when you walk through the entrance but this isn't carried into the rooms. We had a twin room and I found the bed very uncomfortable. The room was stiflingly hot - we had to turn the radiator off and keep the window open at all times, slightly worrying as our first floor room window was accessible to anyone so we didn't feel particularly comfortable due to this insecurity. The rooms are dated and the bathroom was also quite poor. The extractor fan was so noisy we ended up not using the bathroom light at all. The taps in our room were loose and almost impossible to turn from the shower setting to the bath setting which meant it took FOREVER to fill. The floors in the hallways are very creaky and we were by steps which were so noisy whenever anyone walked up or down them they disturbed us. The kettle and TV etc were really old and dated. The WiFi is really poor, constantly dropping out, poor strength and slow speeds. The breakfast was great quality apart from very salty bacon but we HATE having to pre-book a time slot for breakfast - not what you want when you're on a city break. I have to say though that the staff are very good and it was decent value. The room and hotel was also impeccably clean. We wouldn't stay here again though.

Struggling with the age and condition of the building - otherwise fine - good location, good room, good staff, good parking. More detail of getting into Bath without using a taxi would be useful. Be aware that the breakfast costs £20 each - no continental option?

We booked for 3 nights bed and breakfast. Room was ready and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful.unfortunately The food was atrocious. Have eaten better in a motorway service station. They desperately need a new chief. We should have stayed for 3 nights but booked out on the second night This is such a shame as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel. We will never be going back there.

Stayed here when visiting Bath, about 10-15 minute drive away in a quiet location. On arrival the hotel looked grand from the outside - the hotel is dated but that goes with the style/decor of the site. Gentleman on reception was informative and booked us a table for dinner. Dinner was, strange. There was classical music playing through an iPod or something on a docking station. This stopped sbout 15 minutes after sitting down. There were 4 other tables occupied and when no music playing, it was silent, no atmosphere, smallest noise and everyone would have heard. Very uncomfortable. Food was not good at all. The layout was particularly odd, not a restaurant feel. Tables and chairs were in what seemed to be just a room. Only time staff came in was to take order and give food. Never experienced something quite like it. The room was lovely and spacious, big tv as well which was a added bonus. Our room had a small balcony that overlooked the back and the view. Downsides: Restaurant overall. Noisy corridors as squeaky floorboards and thin walls so can hear people talking. Would stay again, just not use the restaurant.

We had a BuyAgift voucher for a 2 night stay and we chose to visit Bath, and the This hotel. On arrival the building is Grand and beautiful, we had a friendly and efficient check in, quick and stress free. We were given a room card a menu incase we wished to dine at the hotel. When we entered our room on the 3rd floor, it was clean and fresh. The bed was Huge with bright white Crisp sheets. The bathroom was modern walk in shower and the room was nice and warm. Huge fluffy white towels. Tea and coffee making facilities and a big TV. The views from the terrace were stunning. We visited the bar one of the evening and thought £5 for a pint was very reasonable Location was about 5-10mins drive into Bath which was perfect for us. We had a comfortable stay and would Definatly stay again. Many thanks.

We stayed for the weekend as a community choir group of 70. All the Staff were very friendly and welcoming, rooms great, lovely location and grounds, dinner was fantastic especially as we were such a large group. Using the lounge for an evening singalong with other local choir groups was very special. Thank you to all for a great stay. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lets try to start positively. Interesting old building in an elevated position, and beautiful views down the valley from the terrace. And a couple of the staff were genuinely lovely. But that's it really. Otherwise this place is just a desperately tired old guest house. Tiny rooms, creaking floors, noisy plumbing, rooms to owarm (in October!!) and an air of tired desperation hang around the place. It needs Millions spent on it to bring it up to anything resembling modern standards. The public rooms stand empty, and the bar requires a phone to summon a staff member to serve a beer in the all-consuming silence. The breakfast room is huge and cold, (think about dining in a warehouse) and the breakfast itself is desperate - what do they put in those sausages!? That said, the car park was very full, so I guess it hits a spot for budget travellers, or those with low expectations! Such a shame, because with some flair (and a lot of money) it could be a very nice place.

My daughter booked this hotel for her wedding. Tue staff were so helpful and the wedding went without a hitch. We felt Confident that there would be no problems. The food was excellent and the rooms were spotless.

This was an excellent value 2 day retreat for our company of twelve - our package included rooms, three meals per day, teas and coffees, pastries and meeting room. We felt we got a lot for our money. Lovely location, especially the back garden with views down the valley. Attentive staff, shout out to Sebastian the waiter who handled our big table with good humour. One suggestion - the hotel could do more to make sure staff are well prepared to give information local walks along the canal and over the hill in to Monkton Combe. A few basic maps would do the trick.

We enjoyed the location as great base for some walking. The food was great and the bar area was a nice place to relax. Our room was basic but clean and had the essentials. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Gf food provision was fantastic, room had decaf coffee as well as regular and teabags, staff were friendly and polite and helpful. Lounge was comfortable (arrived far too early!) Bed was comfortable, and the scenery was stunning.

A lovely hotel in the country side, our room had great views. It was very clean as was the whole hotel the staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble, we ate in the restaurant each evening we were there and the food was excellent well done to the chef

Beautiful old building set in a lovely landscape. The inside was beautifully presented .The staff were all very helpful and professional, yet friendly. Food was of good quality , tasted great and were large servings. The grounds were beautiful. We would stay there again. Parking was available onsite.

Our wedding at the Limpley Stoke Hotel on Saturday 1st October '22 was fabulous! Karen, the events manager, was on hand throughout the entire process, answering any questions we had and helping to ensure our day ran smoothly. The duty manager, George, was excellent and deserves recognition for his work ethic and social skills. He again was on hand to ensure the day ran smoothly, but regularly checked all was OK and nothing seemed too much for him - for example, he offered to heat my nephews food (a one year old), going above and beyond. Hugo, one of the bartenders, also deserves a shout out and recognition! We had multiple guests compliment him - excellent service! All staff on hand to help with the day were lovely, including those available during breakfast the following morning. The only downsides we had were: the DJ assigned to us - poor/lack of communication and also informed us that we could request as many songs as we liked for the evening - he did not play many of these at all, yet continued to ask guests for song requests throughout the night, ignoring the bride and groom. The fact we did not have access to the bridal suite all day/at an earlier time - so had to book a separate, smaller room, the night before for the bridal party to get ready in, with belongings moved across later - we were unable to gain access to the bridal suite until a later time Food was excellent! And the rooms as expected with comfy beds and super views! Thank you

Delighted with wedding service received here with smooth event handling, friendly staff and great food. Duty manager went out of his way to make sure we were happy at all times. Lovely comfortable room too.

Waiting staff seemed to have massive lack of training. She seemed unprofessional and scruffy and mucky. Very disorganised evening meal. unimpressed, food ok. Room average. But after arrival, we wanted to relax and have a nice supper, and this was heavily let Down by the poor excuse of the service. Wont be returning due to this.

Let me tell you how awful this place is with four examples: 1. Breakfast - When the waiting staff tell you that the “Chef isn't going to be happy” when you ask for some “poach eggs” having been invited to ask for eggs any way we wanted them, you know things aren't going well. Especially when there's also no butter, no milk and no hot water…at a breakfast service?? 2. Whilst 15-18 guests were sat watching the Queens funeral in quiet respect in the bar area, the door was swung open by a staff member called Karen (ironically) who stormed into the silence, walked over to a group of us, demanded we move out of her way so she could walk out of a fire exit to show guests to the garden area, despite there being about 3 alternative exits. Our jaws were on the floor with her audacity and attitude during everyone's time of respect, this wasn't the end of it either, the plot thickened. Karen then returned with the family, walking through us all again, making no attempt to be quiet or respectful during this time of silence, stood outside the room and then began “selling” the hotel to the guests for all to head. After one of us got up and asked her politely to take her conversation down the hall she got up close in one of the guests personal space and, making no apology, stated “THIS IS A PUBLIC HOTEL AND I WILL CONTINUE TO BRING MY CLIENTS THROUGH HERE”. I've never seen such a show of disrespect. Oh and then she came back in for a second time and did exactly the same again, just for good measure. 3. One of the deputy managers told one of our party to “stop speaking sir” whilst we were asking a question about food? He then proceeded the following day to say “send tips my way” if we were going to eat in the restaurant. This is the duty manager…asking for tips? I yet again had to drag my jaw back off the floor. 4. The rooms were comfortable but freezing, similar to the rest of the hotel, in fact when we asked if the fire could be put on in the bar it was like we'd asked for more poached eggs?! The staff member was not happy. Overall, beautiful building, cold staff (and rooms), and a events manager named Karen who clearly needs some lessons in grace and decorum, and maybe a demonstration in customer service because I can categorically say I will never be returning or recommending this hotel on the basis of her behaviour.

We were due to stay at Best Western's Leigh Park but were transferred at the last minute to the Limpley Stoke due to staff shortages. When we arrived, the excellent staff (two charming Greek gentlemen) on reception kindly upgraded us to a lovely room (39) with a fabulous view and we completely forgot our earlier disappointment. An excellent dinner and good choice of buffet style breakfast made for a great start to our holiday. We wanted to stay longer and will certainly return. We have no hesitation in recommending the Limpley Stoke.

The hotel is set in a lovely valley handily placed for Bath and surrounding area. Quite location. Plenty of parking and a lovely terrace for meals and drinks with views. Staff very helpful. Room while spacious was let down by the bed. Too small, no headboard poor mattress and pillows. Need replacing to Premier Inn standard. Breakfast also poor quality and very 1970's delivery. Improve those two areas and Hotel would be much improved

The hotel was very majestic looking in stunning surrounding the whole place was very welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful the room was tidy and clean the hot water wasn't working in the bathroom but that could have been because of being on the 3rd floor but overall very enjoyable with excellent breakfast provided.

Excellent stay in this comfortable hotel in a lovely village. The reception is efficient and friendly. Our double room clean and well appointed. Shower adaptable and bath large. Altogether excellent value for money.

Stay was a disappointment. Upgraded room to executive suite with a view. Which resulted in the privilege of looking over a car park. Also wedding on whilst there, which resulted in me and wife on our 5th anniversary not being able to relax properly. Due to noise and use of facilities. Just think guests should be informed when booking if there's an event on. Staff were very pleasent and helpful but overall not the relaxing stay we had planned.

We finally got to celebrate our wedding, reception and evening do here on Saturday after having to postpone due to covid and it was soooo worth the wait!! The Venue is just beautiful and with the sun shining we were able to say our vows in the gazebo and make full use of the gardens and terrace. Many of our guests stayed over and all said how lovely the rooms were and the much needed breakfast the following morning! From the moment we met Karen we knew we were in very capable hands. She is so friendly & professional and nothing was ever too much trouble. Unfortunately she was unwell on the day but Diana and the rest of the management team were just fantastic and our day was better than we could of ever imagined. The food was amazing and we had alot of children which aren't always easy to please but we had empty plates and big smiles from all of them. I truly cannot thank all the staff enough for all their hard work and for making mine & my new husbands day just perfect. Would highly recommend Limpley Stoke as a wedding venue for any couple & look forward to returning soon. Thank you again ❤️

We booked for the holiday weekend, on arrival the hotel looked nice. We found out that the hotel had weddings on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Parking was a nightmare. They took over most of the hotel including the bar. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the food was just ok. Breakfast was disappointing and not very inspiring. Sunday we had a fantastic day in Bath (6 miles away) - the hotel had another wedding on, again the bar was packed with people from the wedding and very noisy. We didn't want to eat in the restaurant again, so packed up and went home early. Definitely won't stay here again!

Stunning views and beutiful location. Everything very clean, hand sanitizer dotted around. Excellent standard of food: vegetarian butternut squash served with salad was delicious; as well as sticky toffee pudding. Excellent customer service' on the reception desk including the waiting staff. Very friendly and hospitable staff.

A lovely stay in a peaceful historic mansion with a warm welcome. The staff were friendly and the mansion itself is quirky in a way that old houses often are, with old-fashioned sash windows in the bedrooms, and floors that aren't quite level - it all adds to the charm.

The hotel is set in lovely grounds and the building is very old fashioned which is really lovely, inside it does need some TLC such as new carpets in the corridors and a fresh lick of paint. The room itself was very clean and had everything you needed the only downside to the room was that it was extremely warm and uncomfortable to sleep in. The staff were really friendly and were happy to help with any questions we had. Really easy connections to the city, I would definitely stay here again in the cooler months.

We stayed here for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding nearby. Hotel is in a beautiful location and the building itself looks like it was originally a country mansion. Our room was on the top floor, not very big and was extremely warm. A small Aircon unit had been provided but didn't seem to do much. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was ok but the coffee was cold by the time you had added the milk. Choose this hotel if you like staying in old buildings.

Friend was staying there and I joined her for lunch and drinks and we spent 6 lovely hours on the terrace. There was a wedding going on and we had a lovely time listening to their violinist. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Sebastien the waiter was very helpful.

We had our wedding reception and evening at Limpley Stoke and it was amazing. The venue is lovely with great views as well as the rooms for the wedding breakfast and evening do. We had many guests stay over and the rooms were spacious and comfortable for all. The bar and garden are also really nice too. We have some amazing photos of the different parts of the grounds and of guests enjoying the day. Karen is the wedding coordinator, she is brilliant. Friendly, easy-going, professional and highly organised which we really valued. We trusted her fully with our wedding day and Limpley Stoke went above and beyond. It was perfect. Whatever question we had Karen answered promptly which put us at ease. On the day, all the staff were fantastic. George was great. He was organised and oversaw everything that happened. The day flowed perfectly, just how we wanted, and everyone enjoyed themselves. He was really helpful when we dropped everything off the day before too. Really nice bloke. Cannot fault the staff at all. Guests said check in was easy, the waiting staff were lovely and Hugo behind the bar looked after us all too. The food was lovely too and breakfast the following morning. My wife, me and all our guests we have spoken to have commented on how good the food and staff were. The set up of the day was perfect. My wife has her way when it comes to details of tables etc, but it was even better than she imagined. Honestly, we cannot thank Limpley Stoke and the staff enough. Please pass on a massive thank you from us and we look forward to returning to the hotel soon. Would highly recommend as a wedding venue to any couple, or even for a getaway.

Amazing views and historic site, close enough to Bath but far enough away to be so quiet, a £12 cab into town with great food and a busy bar, especially if there is a wedding like when we stayed but noise didn't last Into the night.

spent 2 nights here whilst visiting Bath. friendly staff . the breakfasts were good. the dining room could do with a little attention as it was a little bit bland with no character unlike the rest of the hotel.

I stayed at this venue for a family wedding. Overall it was a great experience with amazing staff who generally went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The only problem I noticed was that the buffet was taken away before everyone had a chance to enjoy it which was disappointing but it didn't ruin the stay. Great atmosphere.

I jave to be honest, this was one of the worst nights sleep I've had for a long time. We all agreed the beds and Pillows were uncomfortable. The water pressure in the shower was also incredibly low so it was difficult to get a great shower in the morning. At the bar, we asked for a Cuba Libre (rum, coke, lime). The barman told us they would charge double for a cocktail so it would be expensive. He didn't seem to know what a cuba libre was though as he was talking about using whiskey. He was sire of the price but didn't know the drink and didn't ask to clarify... that didn't feel right or honest. However, other staff at the hotel were great. We requested a second fan for our room and the man on reception obliged immediately and was very helpful. At breakfast I asked a waiter about vegetarian sausages and he checked for me, then brought out 2 sausages and a Hash brown for me which was great. Overall a mixed experience, hence the 3 star review. Not sure I'd recommend staying here but some of the staff made up for some of the poor facilities/lack of comfort at the hotel, so they deserve to be recognised for that.

Lovely old country hotel in a very peaceful village. We arrived an hour before check in but that was no issue for the reception team, the room was ready for us. There was a wedding taking place when we arrived but we would never have known in our room, we didn't hear a thing from them. The room was lovely, with a very powerful shower and comfortable bed. The breakfast was very nice, only downside was only scrambled egg on offer, and no hash brown or black pudding. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Excellent hotel tucked away in the Avon Valley south of Bath, out of the bustle of the busy city. Local regular bus service into Bath, 20 minutes journey time. Lovely staff, old fashioned but nice. Excellent choice at breakfast, evening meal a limited choice,maybe could be a bit more adventurous, but the quality was fine.

We loved out stay at the hotel, it was beautiful and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and hash browns were made and brought out upon request, while there was full english available in a buffet style with yoghurt and other things available.

Our daughters wedding day. Lovely venue, friendly, attentive and well organised staff. Many guests said best wedding they have been to, due mostly to the happy couple, but relaxed friendly venue made all the difference. Spacious bedrooms, food was lovely, complimented by many guests, breakfast food was hot, self serve buffet style . Relaxed atmosphere. Can't fault anything

The views around the hotel are excellent, The staff are friendly and courteous and very attentive unfortunately the hotel internally is in need of a little TLC the bed springs are evident the lounge seating has seen better days and the hotel is crying out for air con during the summer. Our stay was great no complaints at all. Food was amazing (there were 80 guest) the venue was kept tidy at all times. The views are pretty. And breakfast was great (hit plates and hot food lots choice)

In total we paid £277 for 2 nights plus breakfast, which was really poor value for money. The hotel looked old, drab and tired. The whole place needs a big refurbishment, not to modernise it as it's an old building, but to brighten and liven it up. Wooden windows were rotten, the lock on our room window didn't work and wasn't fixed while we were there, despite informing staff. Rooms were basic and just ok. Extremely poor views from the 2 rooms that we were offered (after complaining about the first one). Poor amenities. Breakfast, again just ok. Hot option was just about warm. Public areas, decor and furniture all in desperate need of updating.

A fantastic location and our second visit to this hotel. The location really does sell the place as unfortunately the accommodation itself now feels a little tired and there was one lady on reception that was particularly quite rude! However, good sized rooms, good choice at the bar and beautiful views

This hotel is situated overlooking the picturesque Limpley Stoke valley and is not far from Dundas Aqueduct, the 5-mile canal walk into Bath and various scenic footpaths. Our room was clean and cosy with a stunning view from our room over the valley. The staff were pleasant and attentive and we enjoyed our breakfasts in the mornings. We also has our evening meals here - I especially enjoyed both the chicken and the vegetable curry. The risotto on our final evening here was absolutely delicious. The gardens were a relaxing place to sit out for drinks whilst enjoying the view. Service was prompt even on the first evening when a wedding party was in attendance. All in all, a great experience which added to our enjoyment of exploring the beautiful city of Bath. We would recommend and return again.

Stay prior to heading over to Glastonbury. Clean, spacious rooms although may be a little dated still a comfortable stay! All things that we needed / expected for a stop off, overnight stay catered for!

Limpley Stoke was chosen by my client to accommodate me for a one day business visit to Bath , and then, based on its web presence and images I chose to extend my stay for the weekend and bring my partner along for a romantic weekend in a 'Stunning property with extensive gardens'. The 'elegant public rooms' seem to have been given over to weddings. There was a wedding being catered on each of the days we stayed (Thursday to Sunday), meaning the bar area was crowded and noisy. On arrival we were encouraged to use a 'lounge' on the first floor, but this was just a silent room with tables and chairs in it and no bar or staff - cold and unwelcoming, and certainly not relaxing. No guests were using it. We were kept awake on Saturday evening until almost midnight with children running around outside screaming and playing loudly. The service was indeed attentive, but the property looks tired, cheaply refurbished to a low standard, and the public spaces were grubby. Whoever thought unsealed vinyl faced MDF floor tiles are a good idea in a hotel bathroom, or that they suggest elegance and quality, needs to be enlightened. Our feet were stained by the vile brown water oozing from underneath them. The furniture is aged and mismatched - I'd perhaps expect this in a budget hotel catering for workmen, but not when being marketed as a quality hotel and charged almost £200 a night. The extensive grounds run to a car park, beer patio / garden, and a couple of grassy areas about the size of a large lawn. We were looking forward to a stroll in the gardens, but couldn't make it last more than ten minutes. The breakfast experience lacked choice. Only scrambled egg with no option for fried or poached, two types of pastry, and a less than 'full' English breakfast. Staying more than one night had us yearning for variety. And serving coffee and tea in urns never represents quality. On Sunday morning, we were surprised and disappointed to find we had to endure cold showers at 8:30 am as the hot water had run out. On departure, it's quite possibly a good thing that we weren't even asked if we'd enjoyed our stay on check out. Bath was lovely - the hotel, utterly disappointing.

A perfect setting for a wedding, from the venue, the views, amazing friendly staff the whole package was beyond perfect for my son's wedding. 5 stars is really not enough. There was nothing they wouldn't do to make the day special. It was an absolute pleasure to be there.

Every attention to detail was taken care of. The food was exceptional and the team of staff faultless. When I asked for a poached egg for breakfast it was perfect. Better coffee at breakfast though please!

A lovely location for a friend's wedding, beautiful grounds, high ceilings, chandeliers, lots of parking, nice grounds. Not so keen on the limited veggie options on the menu. The risotto is just too heavy. Staff trying hard to give customers a good service

We paid £150 a night for what was supposed to be a special birthday treat for my daughters 40th. We had a spa day booked on the Saturday for which we needed to leave early. No concession could be made to the breakfast timing so we had to mage do with a hurried coffee and pan au chocolate. We were amazed to find these were served in halves!! We returned to find that the rooms weren't serviced because they had a wedding. We were also strongly discouraged from using the bar and directed to what I can only describe as a furniture store. If you are not a guest at a wedding don't go here you will be treated as second class.

My husband booked this hotel as a surprise for my birthday as I've always wanted to visit Bath. The hotel is lovely, we had the Executive double room with a four poster bed and window seat overlooking the terrace and beautiful views. We had a bar meal on the day of arrival which was very tasty. The service here is excellent, the staff are so helpful. Breakfast is buffet style with plenty to choose from, scrambled eggs are on offer but if you prefer fried egg its a simple case of asking for one. I found the temperature of the shower quite difficult to control and the mattress on the bed a bit uncomfortable. But that certainly didn't spoil my stay here. We used the Park and Ride into Bath which is free with a senior citizen bus pass. Bath was everything I'd hoped for and we definitely want to visit again.

Lovely setting for this hotel but delay your visit until the rooms have had a major refurbishment. Rooms not serviced due to the covid excuse....wearing a bit thin now!! The food served in the bar was ok, but beware of the bar prices. A small bottle of Peroni £4.80...no fear of getting drunk!!

A comfortable stay in a double aspect room with wonderful views. Attentive staff with good breakfast and evening meal offer. No other eating places in walking distance. Bradford on Avon well worth a trip out. Not sure we needed the heating on in the morning and the broken sash cord on the window presented a minor challenge but overall a good experience and great value.

Wedding of my daughter on Easter Day - fantastic venue with olde world charm - food great , staff great - a weekend to remember for sure !!! Returned home from the Limpley Stoke Hotel yesterday afternoon following our 4 night stay for a wedding. The Hotel is set in a beautiful location, it is spotlessly clean, the Staff are exceptional, but it could do with updating. Also there is not much draw space in the room or shelving in the bathroom for toiletries. (Room 11). The food is plentiful and delicious. We found a lack of things to do on an evening, as we didn't find a pub close enough to walk to in the evening. There are lovely Canal walks into Bath & Bradford-On-Avon, which have some lovely scenery. The wedding meal and wedding reception was held at the Hotel and everything ran like clockwork. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.

Great out of town location for a visit to Bath. Breath taking views from the terrace made our Easter Weekend stay in Limpley Stoke. Friendly attentive staff, especially the receptionist who happily shared details of local bus services which only cost a couple of pounds and ran, ever hour, from the bottom of the lane straight into the centre of town. No trouble getting served at the bar even during a wedding that was taking place with a designated lounge area for residents. Good breakfast selection, great bar menu choices. Rooms were clean & beds were comfy. Highly recommended.

A perfect venue for our daughters wedding everything was incredibly well planned. Our family and guests were looked after so well. Lovely views from the room. Food excellent ..staff very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble.

Could be a fantastic place but the customer service is appalling. They really don't care. Even when we made a comment regarding some acid battery wine they served, they made no comment. Asked if we wanted our rooms servicing daily!!! And then the cleaner starts banging around by the door at 8am!!! No newspapers, no acknowledgement from reception when entering or checking out if the building- they just ignore you. The place lacks any atmosphere whatsoever. Shame as it's lovely location and could be so much more of an experience.

Limpley Stoke is a beautiful panoramic location. The hotel is in an old building and everything is a bit tired. Everything is very clean and everything worked. The hotel represents good value for money, it could just do with a bit of decorating / refurnishing. There is a railway that passes close to the front of the hotel, you scarcely see it or hear it and there are no trainbs through the night.

Quiet location and overall good value. A little “tired” fabric of the building. There is good parking. Satnav location poor: you would be better to input “Hop Pole Inn Limpley Stoke” to find the entrance.Breakfast was average rather than outstanding

Limpley Stock Hotel really is in a great place up on a hill overlooking the valley below,the river runs at the bottom of the hill,trains go by as well. Beautiful view,very quiet. Local bus runs at the bottom of the village, takes you right into the centre of bath.

Weekend break in a historic & quirky hotel with polite very helpful staff. Hotel at weekends seems to be dominated by weddings. Food good, evenng meal could have been warmer, served on verycold plate. Manager dealt with, seemed puzzled why plate warmers not used as agreed plate cold. Breakfast very good, well organised, good quality products, helpful staff. Somethings in room need updating/attention, heated towel rail in bathroom that does not. See photo of previously updated warning label updated by previous guest, who noticed this. More irritating/useless/dangerous are the idiotically placed (and useless) lamps over the bed. They produce no useful light to aid reading, are centrally placed over the bed at a height that you bang your head on when semi reclined on bed unless you twist uncomfortably round them (see photo). Just do not sit up quickly in bed forgetting they are there.

My girlfriend and I experienced a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and polite; the room, though on the small side and in need of an update, was pleasant enough with good views of surrounding countryside. The food was of excellent quality, served in the very pleasant dining room by friendly, attentive staff.

Poorly decorated room and was very cold, the walls are so think you could hear everything from next door. Woken by train at 5am every morning, bright light outside of bedroom window so found hard to sleep, made aware that noise would be up until midnight due to the fact of it being a wedding venue but woken at 3am by substantial noise, didn't help that we were at the front of the building, On the plus side food was nice, Order a Uber as half the price of the taxi firm that the hotel will order for you.

The hotel is set in lovely grounds. Parking spaces can be an issue if the hotel is hosting social events and guests park that aren't staying. The hotel looks lovely from the outside but inside is showing signs of age. The check in took longer than expected. There was only one member of staff doing this. They were very professional and thorough. There was a member of staff in a back office who kept poking their head out looked at the queue then disappeared. Perhaps they could help with lengthy queues or be trained to help out to avoid unnecessary wait times. The room we stayed in was very spacious with a lovely view. The bed was huge and very very comfy. What let the room down was the shower was really poor. There was instructions on making it full power but it never got very warm and was a let down. We had a meal as part of the Christmas packages. The Stilton tart was tasteless and appeared to be bought in frozen and heated on site. The main course beef was nice but the accompanying veg was limited and this left the feeling of a cheap care home meal. The lemon tart for dessert was nice but nothing special. The bar staff were amazing and really friendly. The only let down being their ability to clear glasses I'm an appropriate time. This led to a large number of empty glasses built up in the entertainment areas. The drinks were fairly priced and the disco was reasonable. Breakfast in the morning was a huge disappointment. The sausages were very chewy and tough and tasteless. The mushrooms were very very salty. There was only scrambled egg available. The coffee was poor and tasted like a cheap instant coffee. This end to the stay put a bit of a downer on what was a reasonable stay otherwise.

We visited the Limpley Stoke Hotel for a mid-week overnight stay whilst visiting relatives nearby. A search on an internet booking site turned up this one as the best deal for local accommodation. We drove here and there was ample parking for guests in the grounds though the car park did seem to get busier during the evening. The hotel is in what appears to be a former country house and is on a grand scale both as you approach it and on entry with its long reception corridor and high ceilinged reception rooms leading off this. Arriving around 16:30, check in was relatively simple, the lady on reception was very welcoming and helpful. We had a room on the second floor and this could be reached via either a staircase or elevator though we did note that as we passed around the hotel there were a series of short staircases on the same floor so if you have mobility problems then it is probably worth mentioning this when you book. Our room was quite spacious and comprised a large double bed, with a dressing table, chair and bedside cabinets. A wall mounted flat screen television and tea & coffee making facilities were also provided in the room and a hair dryer in the dressing table. The room and the bedding appeared to be clean and well maintained, the view from the window was not what you may consider picturesque but for us on our overnight stay this was not a concern. The bathroom was also rather spacious with bath and shower, basin and toilet well-spaced. The bath seemed to have some sort of residue around the sink hole but as we did not use this this was not a problem for us. The sink was a good size but I found it to be very low, having to stoop to use it to wash and shave in. Above the sink was a shaving socket and also a light should you need it and ample towels were provided. Overall, the bathroom was clean and well maintained. We decided to take our evening meal in the hotel and this was served in one of the large reception rooms leading off of the main reception corridor. The menu had a good choice, offering either a la carte or a bar menu. I had the chicken curry and my wife the vegetarian curry and both meals were very good, served in a good time and of a portion size likely to satisfy the average appetite. For dessert we both had the apple & blackberry crumble and again this dish was very good. The two waiters in the restaurant were excellent, very polite and helpful, checking back during the meal to ask if everything was alright. After dinner we took a coffee in the bar area situated in another reception room off of the main corridor. The bar area was set up with a ‘real' (we think a gas) fire, television and plenty of seating. The room was comfortable to sit in and had a nice ambience. Following a good night's sleep, we had breakfast in yet another reception room downstairs. The breakfast was set up as a buffet arrangement and was fairly comprehensive having cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurts, croissants, and a full English breakfast available to eat. Slices of bread and a toaster was provided if required. Teas, coffees and fruit juices were also available to drink. Check out was completed with no problems and we left the hotel to travel on. All in all a very enjoyable overnight stay at the Limpley Stoke Hotel, we would certainly consider staying here again if making a return visit to the area.

The hotel it self was a different experience to the hotels I would usually go to but this time we wanted to try something different. We stayed in the executive suite, the views are beautiful. It's like your on the top of a hill. The hotel it self is historic. The restaurant serves delicious food. Has a bar/lounge area. The staff are friendly and helpful. Some staff members exceed expectations, which may be why I would definitely go back again.

Fairly average hotel. Beautiful old house but in need of complete renovation. Very tired and old fashioned decor. The restaurant served very good food but as we were the only ones there it was rather lacking in ambience. The staff, however were great, very friendly and helpful. Our room was quite small with a small double bed. The shower was terrible and the toilet cistern was running constantly. Our room was one of the cheapest with a view aver a flat roof , which they had tried to look passable by putting down astroturf, unfortunately we could hear the constant noise of some sort of motor, don't know what it was. We turned off our radiator and opened the window but the heat was phenomenal for some reason, can't imagine they had anything as modern as underfloor heating. Stayed only one night and wouldn't rush back.

Having just returned from spending Christmas at the Limpley Stoke Hotel with a coach party, we would like to give the manager and the staff a big thank you for making the holiday such a success. All the customers in our group had a wonderful Christmas break and the staff were so friendly and welcoming to make us feel at home. Nothing was too much effort. The meals were excellent and enjoyed by all our group. It is in a great location for excursions to Bristol and Bath. We also thought the entertainment by the duo on Boxing Day night was lovely and we are pleased that so many of our customers were able to enjoy it before our trip home. We wish all the staff at the Limpley Stoke Hotel a very happy and successful year in 2022.

The building is of a quaint historic architectural design with nice features. We previously stayed about 12 years ago when we felt extremely pleased. We would NOT choose to stay again for various reasons, and also would NOT feel happy to recommend this hotel.

Booking into this hotel was easy and the staff friendly. The room was well lit, though it did get fairly warm but could open the window. Breakfast is good as it is a self service buffet layout. I thought the room was a bit pricey for what you got, but then you are also paying for the location.

Lovely restaurant but food not so good,vegetables overcooked complained but nothing came of it,supposed to have lamb wit jue but it was a gravy and cheese plate came out of the 80s ordered a bottle of wine which was put on table with the screw cap still on so I had to open it myself very unprofessional

Lovely hotel in quite a remote setting. Further from the city than we were led to believe. 15/20 drive no walking as no footpaths. Used park and ride which is great value for money 15 mins to get bus then 15 mins to city next visit will stay nearer to city. But hotel is in a beautiful place

I'm calling my review the above as everything I asked for was not fully carried out the TV was exactly the same and as bad as before anyone came to fix it and I was made to feel it my own fault the remote control wouldn't work properly and was made to feel I was hard if hearing when I couldn't hear the music I'd asked for in the restaurant

First the good things - welcoming receptionist, adequate parking are, large grand lounges, warm corridors, lift available to first and second floors, nice breakfast items, bar lounge had a nice fire going in fireplace In our room bedside lamps were on the wall to save space, nice pillows and it was clean. Unfortunately we were disappointed because it does need updating decor wise, we had to wait quite a while at reception as only one receptionist, the room itself-it was way too warm (no thermostat to alter it) and the radiators were noisy when they came on and off, the shower pressure was atrocious, the toilet roll holder was out of reach of the toilet!, wasteful bar of soap provided for handwashing instead of pump dispenser on sink, the digital clock made an intermittent buzzing noise, we couldn't use our Google chromecast on the TV as the hotel Internet network was blocked to it (there were only minimal free view channels available on it), and mattresses too hard. In the breakfast room the milk had run out, the vegan sausages were in the same hot plate as the meat ones and if the croissants cannot be put in the toasting machine would it not be a good idea to put them somewhere else other than near to the machine? Sorry for all the complaints but if we don't let the hotel know they won't know what to improve. We stayed there 10 years ago which is why we booked again but this was a wholly different experience, perhaps it wasn't Best Western back then, in any case we feel it has gone downhill somewhat.

I stayed for one night and from the moment I approached the reception I was greeted with a smile and welcome. I pre checked in which was very straightforward. I was wary of the reviews but I had no negative experience throughout my stay. The lift took me to the first floor, there are a few steps, not easy for me with my mobility issues but I took my time and walking through the passageway the heating was on so it was lovely and warm, on entering the lovely room the heating was also on so I was very happy as it was a very cold night outside. The bed was comfortable and I had a very good nights sleep. I opened the curtains to a beautiful country view. Breakfast for me was really great. I'd seen the reviews but was not put off. I had cereal and cooked breakfast and toast. The staff were really kind and asked if I needed help, they then served what I wished for and brought it to my seat - thank you. I asked if they had hot chocolate and they made one for me. I can't fault anything during my stay. Excellent staff. I used the D1 bus (20 mins from City) and walked to the Hotel from the bridge, although dark in places (phone light required) it was a pleasant walk. The steep part is the short walk from the entrance up to the Hotel, even walking with a stick I managed it without a struggle. Highly recommend the Hotel.

Met up with old friends for a 3 night stay. The whole place needs up dating, but we just loved everything about it. Staff were very helpful right from check-in to check-out. Lots of choice for breakfast, and could eat as much as you wanted. We also chose to eat in their restaurant on all the 3 evenings, because there was a very good choices on the menu and the food was well presented and tasty. Would stay again.

Nice hotel break The problem was both days we were there they had 2 weddings and the small bar area was very crowded with hotel guests and wedding party , no ideal could do with bigger bar. Our heating was not good and were given extra bedding so that was good. The receptionist was not friendly but the restaurant staff were very professional.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The building is beautiful and the location in the valley, surrounded by hills, green fields, woodland and the river is just stunning. I was awoken in the night by a hooting tawny owl which I thought was nice (different from traffic or drunken yobbos). The view from the room was perfect. Some of the best countryside I have ever seen. The hotel itself, the reception area is nice, helpful staff. We ate at the hotel the first night we were there and the food was nice. I do agree with some other comments that some of the hotel looks a bit tired. Carpets on the upper floors seem to be from the 70's and could do with modernisation. Our room was nice and it was clean. No real issues unless I was to be hyper critical. Bus stop nearby (5 to 10 minute walk under the railway bridge) to get the D1 into Bath. We bought the day ticket for around £4.50 each. Used it 4 times. We got a taxi back to the hotel after our night out in Bath which was only £13 (a similar distance was over £30 when we went to Oxford in May. Overall a nice time had by all

Stayed here a few weeks ago. For a start the floor is incredibly wonky which lots of people would say is charming but it meant the bed was at an awful angle meaning our heads were about 3-4 inches lower than our feet. The bed was also very very creaky. The windows had lots of condensation too. When we woke up we had to leave fairly early so we didn't have time to get the shower sorted with reception but the water was ice cold. We left it to run for a while but it never warmed up.

was at the hotel 1 day for a wedding. the staff were fantastic the entire day, extremly helpful and friendly. the hotel its self is really nice plenty of room for all parts of a wedding day from the reception its self to the bar/lounge space for people to stay in inbetween parts of the day. the wedding day catered food and breakfast the next morning were also very good. you couldnt ask for more!

Stayed for 2 nights, our room was very comfortable and very clean and a beautiful view of the surrounding country side. Free parking, which is a great bonus. Breakfast was delicious, good choices. Can get the D1 bus to Bath, it's only 5mins walk to the bus stop. A day pass only cost £4.30, but it's not always on time. Definitely will stay here again.

2 years ago we choose the limpley Stoke as our wedding venue. From then on all contact with Karen has been amazing building up to our day on Saturday. From start to finish staff were fantastic in every way nothing was too much trouble. Our day ran smoothly and was just perfect. Our food was outstanding, beautiful and super hot with all the guest complimenting it. So thank you to everyone who worked at the hotel this weekend and made our day so much more special.

Despite booking a room with large double bed, initially given a standard bed. After complaining given a room with comfortable 6 ft bed on 3rd floor. However the room and corridor were so hot we had to sleep with the windows wide open all night. Breakfast was self service and a good standard.

We spent 3 nights here, this was an excellent base to explore North Somerset. We had a room on the 3rd floor(54) with a King size bed with plenty of room. A good size bathroom with shower. A pleasant room. The decor was in keeping with the old house with a little modern twist. The bar and lounge area was perfect for chilling with a glass of wine. The breakfast was self serve hot and cold items available plenty too choose from. We took the train to Bath its 1 mile from the hotel walking and good value. Ample parking at the hotel for the car. We enjoyed our stay.

Just about to check out of this wonderful hotel. I was a bit dubious about staying after reading the reviews but was pleasantly surprised. Working in the travel industry I wanted to provide an honest review to my clients who wish to visit Bath and surrounding areas. We stayed for 3 days. Booked 2 rooms both with a review. The hotel is old and has been described as dated but I would stay it's more character features. There are different sized rooms and the only thing I wished we had a larger room but it was still more than adequate for our stay. The hotel sits on a hill with splendid views across the country side nestled in a small quaint village of Limpley. It's 3.5 miles from Bath city centre and 38 minutes from the Cotswolds. Breakfast is ample with a small selection of hot foods and small selection of cold food. Staff are friendly and helpful and it's probably the best covid restrictions policy being adhered to that I have saw recently in hotels which made it feel safe. Definitely will stay here again

Stayed with a group of friends in Bath for a hen do. The location, whilst hard to find is lovely and located right in the countryside. I will say the hotel gets very busy everyday with weddings (three during our stay) so you do feel a bit of an imposter using the bar amongst the guests and the reception gets busy at check in times but whilst we were worried about noise from the wedding parties they do have a cut off. Breakfast was good and the staff seemed friendly, if just a bit busy. Just as a warning, definitely pre book taxis if you are going anywhere outside of the hotel as it takes an age to get one. I would also say the hotel is nice, a bit quirky with slanted floors etc but it is a little dated and could do with a decent clean- particularly on the carpets going up to the bedrooms, they weren't done at all whilst we were there which was disappointing given they had some many weddings that people must have paid a lot for. And also be aware of trains starting from about 6am right near hotel. Would stay again.

Whilst everything was clean, the rooms (we were in room 26) are extremely outdated. It felt more like a school dormitory bathroom rather than an ensuite in a 3 star hotel. There was no heated towel rail so towels had to be dried over the radiator in the bedroom, and there was only one shelf for toiletries which was directly above the toilet - not really where you want to store your toothbrush! The shower enclosure was ridiculously small and dark to the extent that we had to keep the door open whilst showering. With some care and attention this hotel could be so much better than it currently is. The bed was comfortable but again the furniture was worn and tired and just needed some thought.

We stayed here in October 2021 as part of our anniversary weekend away. The hotel was beautifully located, albeit with slightly narrow roads - if you're using sat-nav stick to the main roads as ours took us down a back road that turned out to be closed! We arrived at the hotel which has ample parking, even with a wedding party present we were able to find a space and proceeded to reception to check in. Having pre-filled details on the hotel website the process was quick, easy and we were given our key card for our room within minutes. We had booked an executive room, and were allocated room 25 on the second floor. There is a beautiful grand staircase next to reception with beautiful stained glass windows on each floor. Having located our room, we presented the key card and had to give the door a hard shove to get it open. The hotel is a very old building and as such has some 'character' features such as uneven floors and slightly wonky door frames. Room itself was quite large, though the bed was 2 bases and mattresses zipped together to form a base that was wider than it was long! My partner was sleeping in a different time-zone to me! The decor was a little tired, windows mostly painted shut apart from one which could be fully opened to a 40 foot drop to the car park below - not recommend for any young children staying! The bathroom in comparison was tiny, broken toilet roll holder and oddly a shelf with plastic cups and soap above the toilet rather than the sink. On the plus side there were plenty of soft towels provided and shower gel in a pump dispenser. Tea and coffee making facilties were basic but functional, along with a 3 pack of oaty biscuits. Around 5:30 PM the heating system kicked in and made quite a lot of noise for about an hour. Possibly a boiler and flue located behind a panel in the bathroom. We got changed to go out, but unfortunately experienced a wardrobe malfunction. Reception to the rescue with a mini sewing kit which earned the hotel some brownie points! We got back around 9pm and the wedding party was in full swing, but could not be heard from our room. Thank goodness for the blackout curtains though as the front of the building was floodlit all night. Breakfast next morning was a buffet service, with tea and coffee brought to the table, food was reasonably varied with a selection of English breakfast choices that were well cooked and also croissants, fruit and toast making facilities. Oddly we had to request salt as there wasn't any on any tables and we were handed a couple of sachets from the kitchen. Check out was quick and easy. We mentioned the heater noise along with a couple of bulbs not working and the chap made a note of this. All in all a pleasant experience, but not sure that the 'executive' room really lived up to the name or was worth the £163 a night charge! Also needs a bit more attention when cleaning as there were cobwebs on the light fittings, marks on the walls that we could remove with a wet wipe and dusty TV stand. There were also a few stains on the carpet that could have easily been cleaned up.

Room was at a rate of £184 per night. 'Room 3 on first floor above the entrance to the hotel. On entering room found it cold - heating not on despite it being cosy in the corridor outside. Staff were not able to fix the problem. A plug in heater was brought in - took till early hours of the morning for room to warm up. Bathroom was cold did not take a shower as did not want to disrobe it was that cold. Partner did and said that shower was going from hot to cold. Lino on floor fine in a hotel for much less money but for the price we paid we were expecting a nicer environment. I had to sleep in my dressing gown due to cold room. We were in Room 3 which is situated directed above the front door to hotel where wedding guests congregate till the early hours to smoke and made lots of noise and revelry. Drunken guests being escorted back to their rooms by equally loud and raucous friends past midnight. Old fashioned TV in the room and with not enough sockets in room. Once eclectic heater was plugged in - there was a choice TV, Lamp or phone charger.......It was just awful. We booked dinner. Big mistake as we were shown to a large un-atmospheric room, plastic wood effect tables, a couple of other tables taken, Harsh overhead lighting, Nothing done to make the room appealing or to create any ambiance. Meal was unpleasant. My steak was curled up at edges and served with lackluster salad. My partner ordered a choritzio and chicken salad which had chicken bits from a packet and thin bits of presliced chortizo from a packet with some shredded iceburg lettuce and olive oil drizzled. It was just such a disappointment. This is the first hotel we have stayed in since Covd and we were looking forward to a nice weekend break but were bitterly disappointed. This was terrible value for money. Nothing wrong with staff - friendly and attentive. Its just the hotel - would never stay in a Best Western again after this.

This was a last minute booking to be closer to a work contract. What a great find, great room, delicious evening meal, and the breakfast in the morning, was quality, couldn't believe the price for the full array of food, tasty sausages, bacon, eggs, croissants, fruit cereals. Juices coffee.

We loved our stay here. The location is a little tricky to find so a few signs on the road would be helpful but once here, it is a beautiful place nestled amongst lovely scenery and very peaceful. Plenty of parking too. We couldn't check in on time so were offered a drinks voucher which was a nice touch. Everything needed was in the room and whilst mine didn't have a view, it was away from the wedding party that night so little to no noise experienced. The bar area is a little small and at times we found ourselves part of the wedding but it was a small group so not a problem. Possibly if it was a larger wedding party it may be an issue. There is a canal path just over the bridge that takes you to a really nice cafe about a 25 min walk in the Bath direction if you are looking for something to do. Otherwise close to Bath via bus or car. We'd love to come back to make more of the area.

Location is good only a 15min bus (hourly) from Bath, but the room was disappointing. Bed was ok, shower was weak - ok for a guy with short hair but not enough for long hair. Tea and coffee was present but was expecting more than a Nescafé sachet for the price! Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.

nice building set in lovely countryside but it needs a few tweaks. I think the rooms need an upgrade, ours was nice enough but mattress,bathroom, tv and coffee making facilities could be better . Bar service was odd, no one around but there was sign on the bar by a phone saying ring this number for service, this was a weds mid afternoon but hotel seemed to be fairly busy judging by the car park, anyway I rang the number and a person appeared from a room behind the bar and took my order ,when I went back in for another one there was no one there again, there was someone waiting at the bar who looked like he'd been there a while,I said have you tried the phone and when he said no I picked it up and started to dial the number at which point a voice from the room behind said "yes I'm coming" ,slightly Basil Fawltyesque! We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was very nice and good value but there was no salt and pepper on table, we asked for some were given a bowl of mixed sauces and condiments (still no pepper!) like you'd get in a so/so pub or cafe,that was ok but we felt it showed a lack of attention to detail considering they were going for a fine dining experience and with the quality of food and the nice dining room it could well be that. Overall though a nice stay

Had a lovely stay, only marred by the hooting trains, but otherwise great. Room was basic but clean with the normal tea and coffee supplies. Breakfast was well organised. Lovely friendly staff, very helpful.

From the time we arrived, staff calm, polite, attentive and easy to deal with. They made the stay very relaxed. The food was beautifully cooked, with great care and attention to detail...excet for the key lime cheesecake which had no lime flavout at all. Despite this, we ate well and nothing was too much trouble. Even with a big wedding due on the Friday, which clearly could have preoccupied them the sta never sidelined us for a second. We stayed Monday to Friday at the hotel. Good location, felt like you were miles from anywhere, but actually not far from Bath. We had an executive double room with views which was very comfortable and the views were stunning. We ate in the restaurant every night. A la carte and bar menus were available and the meals we chose were excellent. Breakfast was well organised with plenty of choices. We hope to make a return visit. .

An excellent hotel situated within easy reach of so many places, yet far enough away to be away from the hustle and bustle of the local cities. For those visiting Bath the park and ride is close by making it even better. There is a good choice of food in the restaurant so there's no need to head out to find somewhere to eat

The room was extremely dusty, 4 poster bed looked nice but mattress was laid on a piece of mdf board and wasn't comfortable to sleep on. Tv in poor position in room couldn't see it if laid on the right side of bed only left side. Breakfast was poor not enough choice for the money. Staff were rude in the bar area

Fantastic venue for a wedding! Karen and the team where absolutely amazing and took away any of the stress in planning a wedding and the preparations for the day. The Welcome canapes, Wedding Breakfast & evening buffet where to a high standard and guests totally enjoyed the food. Everything was presented to a high quality. The in-house pianist Michael was fantastic and added the personal touch. Also the in-house DJ played great tunes to keep the guest dancing. All the staff working on the day were friendly and helpful. The scenery alone will make fantastic photos. Thank you all for making our day stress free and memorable! Highly recommend this venue for a wedding & services. Mr & Mrs Bodman x

Quiet rural location but within a 15 minute drive to the centre of Bath. Our room had lovely views of surrounding hills. Occasional day time trains using a nearby railway line can disturb the peace when sounding their horns. We have stayed at hotel several times and have always found rooms to be keenly priced. Bar and lounge areas are welcoming and comfortable. Not really suited to those without a car.

Lovely and interesting hotel. Great place for young kids to run around and explore. Our wedding party was extremely well looked after and the prices were fair. It was well organised from arrival to departure. The staff were amazing. And the room was very clean. It was nice that all the rooms had individuality. And there are different areas downstairs so you can move about and not feel restricted. Nice garden area as well. And a good car park. Set in a lovely location.

Fantastic venue for a wedding, Karen the wedding coordinator was fantastic took all the stress away, we just took all our stuff over the night before and Karen and her team set it all up for us. The whole day from start to finish was fantastic. All the staff working there were fantastic and made you feel really welcomed. The wedding food was out of this world the canapés, wedding meal and buffet and even the breakfast. Some great back drops all around the hotel to get those best photos. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. Mr and Mrs Mill

Very nice hotel, with lovely rooms and views. I like that the double bed was not the usual size as always find hotels normally have smaller double beds but this was more a king size . Enjoyed the dinner. Would highly recommend

Room was small and in desperate need of fresh paint. Tiny shower and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable couldn't move with out waking partner and vice versa. Coffe facility's dated. Restaurant is more like eating in school dining hall, was looking foward to a romantic meal how ever was ver dark had pop music playing in the back ground and lacked atmospher very disappointed food served in dishes on a plate rather than just putting the food on to the plate food quality wasn't bad just a shame about the dining hall (sorry that's not a restaurant).

The overall experience staying at this property was satisfactory. It is an old property, so limited in what they can provide. The rooms were clean, a little dated, but perfectly functional. The duvet was much too heavy for the hot weather and although a fan was supplied, it was still an uncomfortable, hot sleepless night. The grounds were nice, but parking was an issue as when we arrived there was a wedding on and the parking space left was very tight to get in and out of. The location was about 7 miles from Bath and as we weren't familiar with the parking, chose to take the bus in. Last bus back on a Sunday was 6.40 and 7.00 or 10.20 weekdays. So a little restrictive. The positive of this property was the price was very reasonable, given what was on offer.

Read the reviews and thought it would be good….how mistaken!! The Executive room was tired, furniture dated as was the decoration. 4 poster bed had been repaired so many times it was looking past it! The bathroom was dirty, few hairs etc and we also had some clothing left on the bathroom floor from previous guests! Mistakenly we pre-booked dinner; Al la Carte was the ethos but oh my, it was awful. The starter was terrible but we held hope for the main. My steak came with packet chips, sauce tasted of flour and the oven ready onion rings. The other dish we ordered was the Seabass fillet which was tired…the accompanying sauce was ‘split' to oblivion. Our food bill was extortionate….totally ripped-off. NEVER AGAIN!!!

We were very impressed with the location,... Beautiful surroundings and only a 15 min bus journey from centre. The hotel and the standard of food and service were fabulous. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff, our only complaint was we wasn't told there would be a wedding there on our 2nd day when we checked in and wasnt told that the restaurant would be closed thst day, we found out we could eat in the bar, we chose to eat there as hotel is in middle of no where, so eating an A la carte meal on a coffee table was not good, if we had of known we would have eaten out on way back from our day trip out, plus they gave us a room directly above the wedding party and dance floor, it might be best to ask if any weddings are planned before you stay, we stayed on a wed and Thursday night thinking it would be nice and quiet

Stayed for a one night stay . All staff extremely friendly and worked well to welcome you . The bedrooms are very dated and tired but clean! No disturbances throughout the night , slept like a dream . Lovely to sit outside on the terrace with a wine or 2. Breakfast plentiful with plenty of choice . Wasn't keen on the hot selection as buffet style. Overall good for a short stay of a night or two

No complaints about the hotel or service at all. It was an unusually hot few days and the absence of air conditioning in the rooms was noticed, but generally this would not be required in our climate. There is some train noise every few minutes from the nearby line - trains do sound their horns, but this does stop between 11pm and 7am. Didn't bother us but some people may be disturbed by it. Gardens were lovely - sat outside watching shooting stars with cold beers until the early hours. Service was excellent and all of the staff were great. Food was good value. Overall a really nice place for a break.

Our booking was made with little to no experience of this particular hotel, but all looked ok from their website. I am pleased to report our stay was first class. Room was great complete with a lovely view. In the evening we also decided to eat in the hotel restaurant rather than travel back into Bath, our food and service were both excellent and at a reasonable price. All was good and a very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

From the outside the surroundings and Hotel appear remote. The hotel sits on a bank however there is a train line in close proximity which runs every 20 minutes and trains sound horns on every trip. The view is restricted from ground floor and the back of the hotel. Staff and food I cannot fault however for the price of the room booked I would have expected more than two beds pushed together and a grass bank as a view. The flood light also kept the room lit all night.

Staff were very accommodating, the property itself was very nice. We booked a double room with a view and our view was indeed exquisite. Dinner at the hotel was very good, with attentive staff both at the bar and the restaurant. Breakfast which we paid for with our booking was meager. We had the continental option, yoghurt, fresh juice, 2 half slices of toast, a croissant, an assortment of jams and we were offered porridge but declined. It would have been nice if fresh fruit and cheese were included. Other than that, our stay was very relaxing, we were able to walk around the property and chilled on the terrace garden. Internet connection was spotty at times but we went for a vacation to disconnect so we did not mind. Loads of handgel available everywhere. Checking-in and out was smooth.

Good service, attentive staff, in an excellent location with beautiful scenery. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Would be 5 star but the rooms are a bit dated. Nice products in the room though. Good value

We've just returned from a 5 night B&B stay at this great hotel. The hotel gives superb views of the valley with excellent grounds and car parking. However we didn't use our car once during our stay as there are interesting walks along the nearby canal towpath in both directions. The local hourly D1 bus from the bottom of the road goes to Bath and Bradford upon Avon: in fact it got from Bath bus station back in 18 minutes! Thank you for a super holiday in your hotel which has loads of character.

Stayed at this hotel the night before a friends wedding. A lovely peaceful hotel with very helpful staff, beautiful scenery too. You can check in online or at the front desk. There's a good selection of breakfast and meal options available too if you dont want to travel out for food. A little tricky to get too without a car.

We stayed here with some friends who we had been unable to see since last year due the C word. We all enjoyed it and although there as plenty of parts to such an old building that need work, it was still fab. The staff were extremely good and very friendly and helpful especially in the bar area where we spent 2 very enjoyable evenings. We met some lovely people and although drinks are not cheap they weren't too bad for a hotel. Food was very good. Breakfast was slow but worth the wait. Evening menu was limited probably due to the C word but the actual food and service was spot on. We like to eat out at least one night but there really isn't anywhere nearby that you can get to easily so we were happy the food here is so good. Grounds are nice and the view from our room was superb. The room itself was smaller than we would have liked . The Shower was quite modern but not very good and the bathroom tiny but fine. Glasses (even plastic ones) would have been nice for our water and a few more biscuits, but tea and coffee were adequate and reception provided a good top up when asked. All in all a very enjoyable stay and a delight to be back to some sort of normality. A big thank you to all of the staff for your efforts. The whole place is very C word safe with screens, floor markings and sanitiser and everyone wore masks where required.

Great staff and service throughout the hotel. Lovely (executive room) on the top floor overlooking the picturesque Avon valley, great facilities and wonderful views. The hotel is very special with a laid-back feel - thanks to the hard work of the hotel staff. Our evening meal was highly enjoyable - very good waiter, and my steak was cooked to perfection. Breakfast was a bit poorer and although the young staff were excellent, what was on offer was disappointing, i appreciate that with the current restrictions it is not easy but a continental breakfast of a croissant, and a couple of slices of ioast, plus weetabix is not something to write home about. How about some fruit and /or nuts, maybe even bran flakes ! That said, we really enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon. We would definitely recommend this hotel as a country hotel with a special city (Bath) nearby.

positive- the male receptionist that checked us in was friendly, professional and super helpful- an attribute to the hotel ! The grounds around the hotel were beautiful and looked after. we enjoyed drinks on the terrace overlooking the fields which was really lovely :) negatives.... We booked a room and paid extra for 'room with a view' - the view was a tree and a car park. The room was tiny, smelt damp & dirty, tiny window and was so uncomfortably hot. The placement of the room meant we had constant noise morning and night by people coming in and out of the lifts. Online it says there is a 24 hr concierge and there wasn't anyone in sight. The room had no glasses or water bottles available in the room. Upon check out the receptionist took our keys, but we were never asked out our stay was or if we enjoyed it.

We had arranged our wedding for April 2020 outside in the gazebo. Due to lockdowns, we had to postpone 5 times. Our wedding planner Karen was absolutely brilliant. Each time she rearranged our wedding celebrations whilst working from home. We finally arranged our date for 22nd May, the first wedding at the hotel after restrictions were lifted and our 5th attempt to get married. The scene was set and we hoped the weather would hold out. Karen was absolutely brilliant. I desperately wanted a gazebo wedding as the scenery was stunning. On the day the heavens opened and it poured down. We were due to get married at 1530. The guests informed us after that the staff brought the chairs out to the gazebo 3 times and kept taking them back in due to the weather. 45 minutes before our ceremony the sun came out and shone. We had our dream of getting married in the gazebo, and that was all down to Karen's planning and trying to make our wishes come true. We got married, had our reception in the beautiful tudor room and had the most away, beyond anything we imagined. The service from the staff was second to none and the manager Dave was so accommodating. I can rave about this Hotel until the cows come home but I won't. They made our day unforgettable, amazing, the service was first class and Karen and Dave did everything they could to make our wishes come true. I cannot rate the hotel or staff more highly. They made our day absolutely perfect and gave us the perfect start in our lives together. We stayed in the bridal sweet which was comfortable, private and had a private balcony with the most amazing views to die for. A huge thank you to Karen and the team. An amazing team in a beautiful location. I would recommend the Limpley stoke Hotel to everyone 100%

We came 5 years ago and the setting on a hill in a small village with beautiful views is what attracted me to the hotel. It is clean and the price is reasonable. I think once covid restrictions are lifted, the breakfast will offe rmore.

We booked through Booking.com and I don't know if that made a difference but our room was much smaller than expected. Why they had a desk with a chair when you couldn't even sit at it as there was no room, I don't understand. The bed was so uncomfortable could feel the springs! The whole place felt soul less, no atmosphere and felt like an old peoples home (with respect to the old peoples home). The waitresses had skirts that barely covered their bottoms which frankly I thought was inappropriate for serving. The food was overpriced and not very nice. The continental breakfast had no fruit and only 2 choices of cereal and 2 choices of yogurt. The coffee was awful. The waiter in the bar needs to learn to smile and not be so rude and bashful. Had a couple of drinks on the terrace and it seemed an inconvenience to him and slammed the drinks down which took us by surprise. As we were only using it as a base to visit Bath it was ok but definitely would not recommend or go back. Shame as the location is lovely. and quite frankly could be a gorgeous place. Needs updating and friendlier staff and a new chef!!!

Lovely location, very quiet and only 15 mins drive to centre of Bath. Everything was clean and staff were friendly. The only thing that let it down was the food. Cheap cafe food at 3 star prices. If they updated their menu and used fresh ingredients it would get 5 stars.

The hotel it self is a bit dated, however... the room that me and my partner had was very clean and the bed was super large and comfortable. Next time I wouldn't pay extra to get room with a view as there was not much view to be honest. The staff at the hotel are very friendly, helpful and professional. They're a great asset to the hotel.

Stayed at the Limpley Stoke as a stop-over on the way to the south coast. Lovely property if a little out of the way. Staff were very nice and attentive, I'd like to think this is the case all the time not just because the venue was very quiet. I'd recommend this property for anyone looking for an off the beaten track location, maybe after the pandemic rules end it may have a little more atmosphere. Nice place!

We stayed here after a day at Longleat and although not one of the closest hotels it is definitely worth driving the few extra miles. The whole place is spotless, the restaurant with its open fire is beautiful with gorgeous food at reasonable prices. George on reception was exceptional, friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The location is amazing looking out over the village, hopefully our next visit will be in summer so that we can sit out in the beautiful garden.

Arrive at this place for a wedding. We arrived and checked in with no issues. Booked the executive suit room 15. Now the room itself was big but very basic. Small springy bed and just very basic. Windows looked as if they had never been opened and once opened then wouldn't stay open and had to be held open by putting something underneath. Bath and shower in the room. We had another 6-7 rooms booked some cheaper rooms and had better rooms for the price. On to the wedding. Now staff were on you constantly trying to take plates and just constantly clock watching. Charged double for drinks and once asked about it said they would sort it but went to reception to sort and and nothing was done. Had our starter main and dessert in a matter of 20-30 minutes felt very rushed and pushy. All of us went upstairs to get dressed into different clothing came back down and all of our drinks had been taken. Drinks that had not been finished with. But they were replaced. Don't get me wrong it's a nice building and some of the staff are very nice. But for the money you pay to stay at this place then I wouldn't recommend. If this was my wedding then I wouldn't have been happy with how things went.

Visited here for one night. No heating in bathroom no one seemed to be able to sort it, offered to find us another room we declined. On closer look this morning found dust and dirty marks around door handles, bath panel breaking away. Yes the room was clean but concern over covud safe in bathroom evening meal was choice of three for each course ordered in advance, salmon overcooked and sauce disgusting. At least breakfast this morning was edible. Would I return I'm afraid not,I was disappointed as my late husband and I visited here a few years ago and it was lovely.

My wife & I recently stayed at the Best Western in Limpley Stoke on the outskirts of Bath. The hotel is lovely & set a beautiful area. The staff were all amazing & couldn't have been more friendly & attentive. They also ensured that we always felt safe & took all necessary precautions during these difficult times & ensured all safety protocols were adhered to. The room was a really good size & the bathroom was lovely. The only downside was that the lift did not go up to our floor, but that felt like a minor issue as it was just a wonderful time we both experienced. We would definitely stay again if we are ever in the area.

Recent visit as 2 couples for weekend visit to Bath. Quite frankly could not be faulted. The hotel is very welcoming with ever present staff. The hotel was clean and very comfortable. Covid friendly with everything explained. Our rooms were very comfortable nice and warm with good facilities. It's just a shame the weather was awful. Would definitely recommend.

We booked in as an overnight stay to break up a long journey. What a find. Stunning location with parking. The exterior of hotel is grand. All the staff we met were lovely, friendly and helpful. We booked for an evening meal which exceeded our expectations. All the food exceptionally cooked and good value for money. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The dining area and bar are comfy and designed nicely. Our room was clean with a extra large double bed. The view from the room was lovely. We could not have asked for a better place to stay.

Exterior building was lovely, along with easy access walks, and a short drive to Bath, taxis were under £15. Our bedroom was large and clean, the double bed was massive and very comfortable they also offered room service, which we enjoyed using when wanting a cosy night in front of the telly. Explanation of Covid secure measures from front of house staff was very reassuring and in place throughout the hotel. The hotel was very quiet, the staff were very nice however seemed quite shy when approaching us. One of the only negatives was the lack of gluten free options in their food, which was otherwise very tasty.

Lovely views, spacious room (nr 4) but very cold and the bathroom had a terrible smell (probably from the pipes) and we could hear the toilet flush from our neighbours rooms, so no sleep quality. The staff were friendly but the waitress on breakfast shift should not have her long hair loose so it will not end on the plate or food.

Hotel was tired, drab and in severe need of updating both inside and out. Booked an executive room which was uninviting, old fashioned and certainly not to executive standard you get in other hotels. Bathroom very dull and had one tiny bar of soap and two tiny shower gels. Mix and match carpet separated room with strange armchairs in front of a tv. Not a comfortable room. Lift only goes to 2nd floor and had to walk up random stairs to 3rd floor carrying heavy cases (two pensioners). At 3.15pm we were asked what we wanted for breakfast next morning and how we'd like our eggs cooked. If we did not order the night before we wouldn't get any. We decided not to stay and manager refunded our money without question. Surprised at the standard considering it's a Best Western.

Booked Hotel as veiws looked lovely. This was only plus point. Hotel is tired looking inside, room was freezing. Food was dire both evening meal and breakfast. The wait at bar was so long and if you dont like Bee Gees then choose somewhere else as this is only music they played. It reminded me of an old peoples home

Plenty of parking and good views from the rooms. Nothing palatial, no atmosphere, food was ok, but I was not aloud to set up a tab for an evening, let alone all week - which was inconvenient for me. Rooms were clean and warm, shower didn't go very hot Wouldn't stay again out of choice

We enjoyed a night away at this beautiful hotel last week, thank you to George & the team, who looked after us very well! We had a a lovely clean room with great views! Dinner & breakfast were good, and we enjoyed a few drinks in the cosy bar with the fire crackling nicely! Customer service is 5*, more so during these difficult times, and we look forward to returning soon!

Stayed on Saturday night package which was top price. Idyllic location but poor dated rooms and horrendous restaurant leaves this venue in need of some serious TLC. Better value at Travelodge some 5miles down the road.

Booked this hotel as it looked so idyllic, it stopped once we had passed reception. We went to our room and the ceiling was coming down in the bathroom and water dripping. Reception guy apologised said he would sort.That was the last I heard from him as I was then passed to the manager. This was a poor representation of what I have encountered in management . We have no executive rooms left for you, no upgraded room nor apology was offered, all I was told and shown was two inferior rooms which did not meet our needs. He suggested we move to another hotel in the Best Western group as they did have a room that he thought would meet our needs. He offered this at 20% discount and gave us a drink in the bar. We decided to cut our losses and decided to move to the other hotel. We then realised why he had given us the discount as this hotel was cheaper. He never once said sorry .Our three day stay which we were so looking forward to was tarnished by this managers attitude and total ignorance to a customers expectation when paying a high price for a stay at their hotel. Steer clear of room 3, but honestly I would not recommend a stay here just because of the managers unwillingness be sorry. In the end the hotel he sent us to was ok but not in such a nice setting and not really what we wanted, it cost us more to travel into Bath as it was further away, all in all a bad experience with Best Western. We are in hard times , but this should be even a bigger reason to look after customers

From the outside the Limpley Stoke Hotel looks great. Overlooking the valley it stands proud amidst the beautiful scenery. Inside, the hotel is very clean and decorated in what I think is an older style. Which works well for the bar area but I thought left the dining area a bit spartan. Parking is easy enough and we were welcomed by a very nice guy on reception. The room itself was comfortable, clean and had a good view of the valley, which was just as well because the TV wasn't working. The bathroom also had a bath too which whilst a little on the small side was a comfort after our day of shopping. We stayed for two nights and we had very restful nights sleep. Although there is a lift we did find ourselves going up and down a few passages with steps. We don't have any mobility issues so not a problem and assume if there are mobility needs then nearer rooms would have been made available. Breakfast was a mixed affair. The normal full English was as expected but my wife had a very different experience. Being vegetarian there were a few options including vegan scrambled egg. However I don't think that this was particularly tasty. The staff that were on shift at the time appeared to be young and new because they were not particularly attentive and didn't check if everything was ok with our meals. However the other breakfast option was to have a take away, and this proved to be much better with a take out bag. We preferred this approach. Overall the stay was pleasant and as stated before set in a lovely location. Would definitely visit again.

Not up to Best western expected standards. Description and photos very outdated. Food poor Staff appear disinterested I am aware we are in a pandemic however having visited a number of different establishments during our 4 day stay in the area this was the worst. I would not return or recommend.

Chose Hotel because of its location close to my wife's family home, which we last visited 17 years ago by canal boat. Booked Executive Room but furnishings limited, including only a 4'6"bed, the bathroom had an unpleasant odour and the floor covering very old and worn. Upon using the shower found it was impossible to stop the continuous drip which was causing the rot by the towel rail. Staff were obliging and pleasant. but the only alternative that could be offered was a family room which was no better than a "Travel Lodge", However it did have a comfortable bed and a bathroom we felt happy to use. Breakfast was adequate, but there was no additional cutlery or plates for the toast and preserves. We enjoyed 2 dinners which were good, and enjoyed revisiting the area.

It should be good. Its an old building in a wooded valley location only 15 minutes from central Bath. As soon as we arrived however, I knew we had made a mistake. The whole place screams out for refurbishment. Its probably not had suitable capital investment for decades. Probably surviving on coach tours, conferences and weddings, this income stream has dried up this year. But its the service quality that is the real shocker. Food is barely passable, and the policy of ordering your choice of breakfast the day before you eat it, is more suitable to a holiday camp. We paid, in advance, months before our stay so it was an unpleasant surprise to be told if we wanted additional food or drink, this had to be paid for at order, not added to our bill at checkout. What?? Are they that short of money or is it simply a very poor policy. In any event I refused to accept this. So very disappointing. Sadly I do not believe the owners have the funds to raise this old girl from an early grave, so in the meantime - Just dont go!

The hotel had put in place all measures to make it feel very COVID safe and was very clean. The reception staff were lovely . We stayed for dinner on one evening, which was enjoyable. Breakfast was included in our stay, which again was enjoyable and the staff were lovely . Room was nice & bright and the bed was huge !(& comfy) The hotel in general could perhaps do with a bit of TLC re the slight tiredness of it , but nothing to complain about. Just one disappointment was that after returning to the hotel one evening & looking forward to a latte and a few drinks in the bar area - the bar area was in darkness & we were told the coffee machine had been turned off - which I felt was unreasonable for a residents bar, as it was only 10pm !! However all in all we had a nice stay and I would recommend.

I recently stayed here for 2 nights. After reading the previous reviews wasn't looking forward to my stay however I like to make my own judgement on a stay. I could not fault this hotel for a short break. Made an error when booking and did not have the room I thought I had requested (my fault) however this was sorted no problem by George who was on duty the first evening and managed to accommodate me with a suitable room. The staff were all friendly and very helpful, you have to appreciated the difficult times they are working under but couldn't fault them. Had breakfast both days which was really good and one evening meal and that was really good especially my favourite sticky toffee pudding. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

We've stayed at the Limpley Stoke before, and with good recollections, so as we needed to be in nearby Freshford for a couple of days, it was the logical place to book for two nights. It has the advantage of being right out in some lovely riverside countryside, yet only some 10 minutes from the centre of Bath. Booking was easy on the website, and the reception welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean and well equipped, and the hotel itself, whilst looking a little tired, is well maintained, with no obvious building defects. The hotel's management have gone to considerable lengths to protect the health and well-being of its clients, and to comply with the current Covid requirements. The only complaint I have is over the size of the breakfasts. Having ordered a fairly expensive Full English, to be served one rasher, one sausage, one egg, half a tomato, one hash brown and a small spoonful of baked beans, and with no mushrooms, was frankly disappointing. That apart, it was a short but pleasant stay, and we will return, but only if htey can increase the size of the breakfasts.

Service and room OK - otherwise needs some TLC. Breakfast not value for money. A hotel that might do well with its proximity to Bath but needs a great deal of money spending on the fabric. Location and car parking good

I stayed here with my wife and son en route to the Lake District and despite the Covid restrictions the staff were as helpful as they could be but the fact remains that other than the entrance the rest of the hotel seemed stuck in the 1970's including the food. During the eat out to help out scheme we have eaten out a number of times from great gastro pubs to basic meaderys but no where were we greeted with the bleak surroundings and substandard food we were here. But you get what you pay for I guess???.....but then again we also are at The Seven Stars pub in Winsley which was not only superb food in a safe and cosy surrounding but also cheaper than the hotel! We should have guessed it when, whilst waiting for our meals in the restaurant we saw at least 4 guests go outside to collect their takeaways that were being delivered. There is no excuse in this day and age for this, I hope the leisure group that own this hotel realise that their only asset here is the staff who are doing what they can with poor investment.

We stayed here for 1 night before a marathon held in Bath the next day. Our Satnav struggled to find the hotel, and the roads can get very narrow for a large car. So do research the route before setting off. The mobile signal was poor so we struggled to contact our driver to pick us up for the Marathon in time. The hotel itself was fine, we felt although it was dated, for the price we didn't mind about this. We used the bar, the barman wasn't particularly cheerful, but the drinks were good! I would recommend for a convenient cheap stay.

I came here six years ago on a coach trip and had a fantastic experience so was really pleased to be having a one night stay here recently. My, how things have changed. First the positives - nice room, lovely views and Kit, our lovely waiter. Now the negatives. I knew check in would be different due to Covid but did not realise we would have to book our breakfast there and then. The Manager checked us in and confirmed our evening meal booking but when we went down at 7:30 there was no booking. There was only one waiter serving the dining rooms and outside and, for a 17 year old, he handled things very well but after waiting an hour for our main course my friend complained and the Manager came to see us - he said we should have ordered dinner on arrival, yet he booked us in and did not tell us - hmm. When the food finally arrived 1.25 hours after ordering it was very ordinary considering the wait - boiled potatoes, boiled cabbage, cauli and carrots and an overcooked, stuffed chicken breast - definitely not worth the wait. The Manager did reduce the bill for us but our evening had been spoiled. Breakfast the next morning was good although there was not the usual choice of cereals, fruit etc alongside the cooked breakfast. The cooked breakfast was lovely and with four waiters on, service was good. We appreciate the current situation means there are changes to the normal running of a hotel but management should still ensure that the guest has a good stay. Lack of staff resulted in a very poor experience - fortunately it was only for one night. Would definitely NOT recommend this hotel anymore.

Really enjoyed our stay here, our 1st trip away since lockdown, but felt completely safe. Staff were really helpful and friendly and we enjoyed the cooked breakfasts, would stay there again. The views from the grounds were stunning and were plenty of tables outside to sit and have a drink.

I stayed here last weekend with a friend for just one night as a means of breaking a long journey from Hampshire back home to Lancashire. The positives were that the hotel was in a lovely location, there was plenty of parking and the wifi was reasonably reliable. The room was of a reasonable size to accommodate twin beds and the bathroom had plentiful hot water. The negatives sadly outweigh the positives. The check in was interminably long, especially having to wait in temperatures of around 30 C. The check in staff were wearing visors and were behind a perspex screen so we struggled to hear what they were saying. We were told we would have to pre-order our breakfast and that no cash was accepted. We went to sit outside in early evening with drinks and then had to pay cash at the bar! Our meal was booked for 7.30 pm but when we arrived in the restaurant, the young waiter had no record of our reservation, even though the manager himself had confirmed this when we checked in. After an hour of waiting for food, I went to complain (twice) and eventually the manager came to apologise. With a little encouragement, he gave us a reduction on the food but I still stand by my comment to him that it was unfair to accept a 17/18 year old waiter to handle around a dozen tables in the restaurant plus the food orders at the outside tables on the terrace. There is no way I would ever want to stay here again

Wonderful building and spectacular views! Our stay was for one night only, checking in included having to make a decision about evening dinner right there and then and choosing off the menu Straight away. Room was oldie worldly and lots of light from the enormous windows. It unfortunately lacked what you would expect in all hotel rooms, there wasn't an iron, hair dryer, glasses for teeth rinsing and soap. One tiny shower gel and conditioner ( had to ask for more) Expected more. Dinner was bland and felt like you had to whisper at your table, could hear a pin drop! However, the staff were friendly and I guess doing their best under current circumstances.

Unable to pay for items on room bill - had to pay for dinner and drinks at the time - were even chased for payment once dinner was finished! What hotel even does this? Take a card imprint like any other hotel chain - we're here for a relaxing break and don;t need the hassle of paying for things as we go - ruined the experience for us. Steaks were over cooked, the rest of the plate was cold. Breakfast items obviously under a heat lamp for far too long... I could go on. It's a shame, the hotel is old and characterful and potentially really nice - let down by lack of action on light bulbs not be replaced, chasing you for money and food which I did not rate sadly.

Well, £177 for the above makes for excellent value for money. Menus were restricted due to virus but the staff did their best. In fact the staff were very pleasant. The views outside the hotel are worth going for alone. Now this is an old building with character which comes with a few downsides. The lift only goes to the second floor and due to the design you can encounter quite a few different staircases. The bed was very comfortable and with 6 pillows all was good. An excellent fan in the room which helped during daytime but probably too noisy at night. Having the window open was okay as generally very quiet. The train line is very close by. There must be unmanned crossings as the blasts from the horn started around 0615. The bathroom electric shower was a little weak on pressure. Overall we slept and ate well. The overall experience was better than average but not quite very good.

We booked a stay here last minute on our way back to London from Cornwall. The property looks lovely online, and was close enough for us to explore Bath, Bristol and Longleat area for a few days. We arrived and there was a small queue to check in. It took 30 mins! One person on reception slowly taking check-ins, taking orders for dinner by hand, taking orders for breakfast the next day. Only one person, and very painfully slow. Surely this could have been done in advance as most of the info they collected is already provided to booking.com when I booked. We finally checked in and went to the room. We had pre-arranged for 2 extra beds in the room for our kids. They weren't there. We'd checking in and made it clear we had two small kids. The room had no bath just a shower. So I rejoined then queue downstairs for another 30 mins. Lots of eye-rolling in the queue from other people similarly frustrated. They said they'd sort the beds while we were at dinner. We went for dinner. There are no kids meals. None?? I asked if they never had kids there! They said we had to order from the adult menu. Are kids are 6 and 3! Our daughter is coeliac, they had a sign on the wall that said they dealt with allergens, but had no gluten free options. Both kids had a baked potato. They even managed to mess that up. It came with about 5 beams and on a bed of an entire lettuce, just what young kids want!! I had the worst risotto I've ever had. Other tables are complaining too. It was a genuinely awful dinner. Breakfast was better. We were being forced into ordering the night before but didn't and ordered bespoke brekkie which was pretty good. They had a limited menu due to COVID. We left as a couple next to us we're complaining about the worst food they'd ever had! The waiter said “I just bring you the food I don't cook it”. We asked if they had gluten free cereals which they didn't which is fair enough. But they only had cornflakes, no other cereals. The shower was like running round in the rain. Really weak and took 5 mins to heat up. Overall this has the potential to be a nice hotel. A lovely building in a beautiful valley. But it is under-staffed, un-loved and felt like the staff were going through the motions, stressed, tired and bored of people complaining (there were a lot of people complaining!). Very busy no doubt, it lacked any kind of action to improve things. Needs drastic improvement. Plus side - great location, lovely quiet village, lovely building, decent enough rooms and cheap (but you get what you pay for!!).

A beautiful location, made better by being able to sit outside on the terrace and enjoy a drink. Standard hotel room - good size, clean and comfortable. Felt safe and well looked after. Stay super friendly at check in, breakfast and check out.

The room was fine, but the hotel overall felt tired and could have done with a redecorating. The security latch to our hotel room didn't work. The food was fine, but my partner described it as 'basic wedding reception style' where you got what you were given and it was nothing memorable (generic chicken, potato and vegetable for example). The COVID rules were a little contradictory and the staff that were working were rushed off their feet, which made it worse. For £230 for two nights bed and breakfast, we expected more considering there were very few amenities in the local area.

The exterior is very grand which leads you to expect something special but unfortunately the interior leaves a lot to be desired. I was put in room 60 which requires you to take a lift and then quite a few stairs which is not ideal when you have had back surgery. It is priced appropriately at the moment at about £50 a night but I would be disappointed if I had paid more

Our trip was over night for one night for business. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the building was lovely with a lot of history. The hotel is set in a hill side with wonderful views of the adjoining valley. Our room was comfortable, although too hot for me and my colleague. The heating was off and we had the window open, but it was a particularly warm evening so I cannot blame the hotel for this. The hotel inside has some wonderful period features and decor throughout the main downstairs lobby rooms, and looks grand upon entering. The corridors are decorated in a modern style with modern floral artwork and prints, and are perfectly lit. Unfortunately, the rooms do not follow suit and feel a little tired. Tea and coffee is supplied in the rooms, although we felt one tea bag each and one sachet of coffee each was a little tight and there could've been more supplied. Breakfast was lovely and tasty with a good quality sausage and a nice sharing pot of coffee. We both felt £12 each was on the expensive side for breakfast and perhaps around £8.50 would've been a fairer price for what we had. We felt £63 a night for a twin room was on the money and worth what we paid. All in all a good trip, and a hotel that id recommend for a stay in the bath area. More replenishments In the rooms, a fairer priced breakfast and a modern face lift would easily see a 5* review.

Which cup is the write way up folks n do you think there's enough shower gel for 2 people for 2 nights as been out for the day and there's no fresh towels after showering n no restock of coffee do you think that there is housekeeping here, my guess is no probably COVID

Best things about the hotel are the staff, the amount of parking available and the fact it's very COVID aware. No other positives at all for us. On arrival we thought it sad that was once such a beautiful building had been so poorly repaired and maintained, first impressions are everything and cement filled large cracks and rusty drain pipes are awful. On check in we had to pre book breakfast, both a time and what we wanted. It seemed that if you wanted hot food it was a full English breakfast, that was it, I did ask if I could just have two or three items but no, it's full English or a bap - that's it. We went to our room, which we had paid an additional charge for an upgrade to a “room with a view” - we obviously have different ideas of the word “view” as we overlooked the car park. When getting changed we had to close the curtains as we were in full view if anyone leaving or arriving. The room was small and bathroom tiny. There was also a very large gap under our door and the fact it's an old building is no excuse, a draught strip cut to size would solve the problem. Our room also urgently needed some TLC with chipped paintwork, marks on walls and carpet, and two totally disparate chairs which were the most uncomfortable things I'd ever sat on. We fully understand no housekeeping entering during the current situation, but supplies left for us were minimal, half a toilet roll was not going to last long so we had to ask for extra. Dinner in the restaurant was also disappointing, at best I'd call it plain pub grub which they tried to jazz up in the menu - “a melange of vegetables” ? Oh come on..... As said the staff were all pleasant and helpful but that's not enough. We certainly wouldn't stay here again, we've had far better, for considerably less in Premier Inns

The hotel is tucked away in a hillside & was quiet hard to find even with satnav, but eventually arrived. Plenty of parking outside which was great. Reception area along a long corridor. Check-in was easy & person who was at the desk very friendly. Our room was on the 1st floor, we had gone for an 'Executive Room' when booking & glad we did .Large 4 poster bed, great view from windows of the surrounding countryside. Bathroom had everything you needed ,including walk-in shower. The bed was extremely comfortable 7 had a very good nights sleep, no noise to disturb us by all night. Breakfast was good value & freshly cooked. We both had a' Full English' with plenty of toast @ jam @ tea/coffee etc. Checking out was very easy &once done we were on our way to Bath City Center which is only 5 miles away from the Hotel. Please remember that this stay was during Covid-19 Restrictions so some things were not as usual. You had to take your own luggage to & from your room.Breakfast had to be pre-booked the night bfore, including time slots. The staff would not come & make up your room unless requested. No hair dryers/mini bar/fridge & rooms stripped out of unecessary items so as to reduce contanimation.Al food delivered on a large tray to minimize contact. Did we feel safe at the Hotel...Yes

We stayed here last night and weren't very impressed. The property is a bit run down, which I'm ok with as it has character, and all staff members were polite. They were taking reasonable COVID precautions, which we appreciate. I can excuse old carpet, uneven floors, and outdated bathrooms because they don't affect one's sleep, but what we didn't like were the uncomfortable mattress (springs were digging in), the one thin pillow per person, the loud train that runs all day and night, the spotty Wi-fi, and the lack of water pressure in the shower. If you're tall, prepare to duck while you shower as well. There are no black-out blinds, just regular curtains, so in addition to earplugs, bring an eye mask if you want to sleep past sunrise. Dinner and breakfast were eatable, but nothing to write home about. The hotel should invest in some new comfortable mattresses -or at the very least comfortable mattress toppers- and some extra pillows, make sure their Wi-Fi is working, and increase their water pressure, for immediate and substantial improvements. The only reason I didn't rate it lower was because we got it at a reasonable price.

Found this great looking country hotel which i have to say just didn't meet up to the outside. I booked an executive room with a view and was given a room that overlooked the carpark and a bed that had been repaired by who i can only call an idiot, what a beautiful piece of furniture that had been repaired with a few L brackets and a bag full of screws. The manager was a real nice guy and did sort our problem out and was given a very nice room. Overall the hotel looks good and is just a run of the mill night away bolt hole.

Had my doubts about staying in such an “old” hotel. But was pleasantly surprised by a room decorated in quite a modern and fresh way. Very clean and looked after. The staff were the highlight with many helpful members helping us at every turn. The room we had, gave us a gorgeous view of the valley, river and surrounding green fields. Will definitely be returning sometime in the future. The breakfast was also fantastic. As much bacon and as many sausages as we wanted!

Hotel is tired but the staff are really nice. Check beforehand whether you get a bath - having a superior room doesn't guarantee it. Wifi a bit touch and go as is the phone signal Breakfast is ok but Dinner wasn't great

First room ,smelt like mould ,water running down window.Tiny room not like photos .Switched rooms very small bed this time but ok until I spotted a dirty pillow poking out from the pillow case.Decided to investigate the other pillows inside cases. All badly stained ,one with a large yellow stain ,others badly stained, well worn grubby pillows.Window mister up on inside ,felt very damp. We didn't stay ,we d seen enough.

My third stay here for business. Difficult to find set in stunning scenery down some incredible hills - be warned if driving! When you find it there's ample parking. The hotel seems out of time to today's modern world - very traditional almost Edwardian. Staff are friendly and attentive- again traditional. Rooms and furnishings are again traditional but the room is filled with little treats - again old school so I'm not in any way knocking it. Biscuits, hot choc, shoe shine, needle kit, ballpoint, shower caps lotions potions and soaps - I think they covered all bases. The bed was comfortable I slept straight through which is unusual. Let the shower run a minute or two for lashings of hot water. Buffet breakfast again ticks traditional boxes with uniformed staff. Plentiful and a wide choice of food available. Evening meal needs to be booked but I didn't need it on this occasion. Don't get to Bath often but will return again I'm sure.

Booked for just one night. Tricky to find with Sat Nav but nic enough place. Good service and room was fine. Didnt eat here but looked good enough. Breakfast was fine so all in all safe bet for quick stay.

Stayed for our anniversary. Had the bridal suite which is spacious with a balcony looking out over the hills, river and canal. Receptionist very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice bar area and restaurant. Had dinner which was priced as you'd expect. Food was ok service was a little disorganised. Also had breakfast which was of reasonable quality, though I would have preferred some plain yogurt, fresh fruit (not tinned) and honey as an option too. Room was lovely, though shower area could have been cleaner and I would have preferred a proper double rather than two singles joined together. (especially as it's the bridal suite)Difficult to get a consistent temperature with the heating so opened some windows! Due to the age of the property some floors uneven (not a problem for us though) and no real soundproofing of rooms. It's a quaint British style hotel with some real charm with walks from the doorstep and Bath close by. Also has some fantastic staff working there, which in my opinion decides if you want to go back. We will be going back!

Lovely surroundings, easy to find and great location for eating out, definitely going back, very clean room, especially the toilet, not a spec of dust, they take pride in their work. Next time will eat in the hotel. Thank you

We enjoyed our recent stay here whilst touring the southwest. This was the first hotel in the Best Western chain that we stayed at. Excellent staff with charming rooms and excellent views. Recommended.

Large historic hotel with lots of character that stands in an imposing position on the top of a hill yet it's in a village at the bottom of a valley. Look out for the red phone box in the village that has been turned into a library. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Very comfortable beds! The food was plentiful, varied and tasty. Large screened television. We had a fantastic view over the Limpley Stoke Valley (room number 29). This was on the second floor and there is a lift if you need it. Very close to Bath, the Kennet & Avon Canal, the Limpley Stoke Viaduct and lots of pretty Bath stone villages with interesting pubs. We had a great stay and I am missing it already. We will be back! Can you believe the plan was to demolish this building in1963 and replace it with 40 bungalows. Thank goodness they didn't!!

Would use again. Great service. Comfortable . Staff were very helpful. The hotel was set in quiet surroundings far enough away from the convenient main road. Lovely countryside location. Plenty of free parking.

We love this little area outside Bath. The hotel is in a quiet, rural location with fabulous views over the river and canal. There's a great pub with food nearby for a change of scene and it's a nice walk to it. Our room was big, comfortable, lots of hot water. Internet worked well. Very limited choice of TV channels (not a problem for us). We ate in the bar from the restaurant menu, which is fairly basic but covers all appetites and was nicely cooked. We got a good price for the night and will definitely return

Pleasant hotel in a good location, 15 minutes outside Bath. Stunning views across the valley. Very friendly and efficient staff. Decor a little tired and could do with a new mattress in the room we stayed in.

We hadn't been to this hotel in quite a few years and it was nice to visit again for New Year's Eve. From entering the hotel I could see it was much brighter and the dark colours have been replaced by a lighter brighter feel, still welcoming staff at reception and friendly during our stay. Our room was on the 3rd floor which you had to use the lift and stairs, so if you've got heavy bags be prepared to lift them or ask for help, our room was to a high standard and a great night's sleep. We very much enjoyed the New Year Party and had a great time dancing all night to 2am :-) Breakfast in the morning was a buffet and a full English is no problem (I'm Full!), checked out after breakfast and headed home. Thanks again and we'll be back.

on Monday 30th December 2019 my daughter was married . I was apprehensive as the package they choose was so reasonably priced . I need not have worried as it was a truly perfect day . The staff were superb, the venue was really beautiful, the food was good, and we had many compliments from our guests, we stayed the night before and the night of the wedding , i Don't know how they do it for the money, but for an inexpensive intimate perfectly organised occasion it is first class, and so why pay thousands when at Limply Stoke you can have such a memorable day, many thanks to all who made it so . The rooms are spacious, the breakfast excellent. The lounge area is not very cosy, although adequate, outside seating is good in the summer. But this is still my preferred place to stay for visits to the Bath area, because it is half the price of anything similar.

The property was very tired and dated, bordering on neglected. The communal areas were very uninviting despite the lovely staff. Breakfast the first morning was in a very dreary dining room, no Christmas Spirit at all. However, second morning, breakfast was served in the Tudor Room which was very pleasant. The bedrooms were pokey and very univiting, the decor dated and tardy. The furniture gave the appearance of cast offs and mud matched. However, the bed was comfortable. The radiator thermostat was broken although thankfully it was warm, the windows were incredibly drafty. The bathroom was badly arranged and I couldn't stand under the shower. The shower dribbled out and was either cold or scolding. Hardly what we expected from Best Western and definitely not good value, a local B&B would have been less expensive and more comfortable and inviting. On a positive note, The Staff were very pleasant, particularly George and the young man that greeted us for breakfast, Kit. The breakfast was fine but could have had a better selection and could have been presented better. Coffee was very good

The hotel itself is stunning, beautiful views and a large cosy room. The lady when we first arrived was a bit snooty. She looked offended when we declined breakfast and dinner. We had other arrangements in town. The man that gave us our key later that night was very welcoming and helpful. So I'm guessing this woman is just moody. The reception rooms are very cosy and clean. Lots of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room. Overall a very nice stay

Set in, and concealed by rolling countryside, it is a beautiful building. Our room had a beautiful morning view. Lounge woodburners, pleasant bar, and a great value and tasty menu. ample free parking.

I have stayed in a number of Best Western hotels always been happy with the room. This is the first time I was very disappointed and did spoil our break in Bath. On hotel website bedroom look spacious and well appointed. We booked a family room. Which was very small that had obviously been a double with a extra bed put in. There was no place to put your clothes only a coat rail. No shelves or sets of drawers.never mind stains on carpet. No shelves in bathroom on ledge to put bath bag, so everything is in your suitcase. Bed was a small double. I don't normally complain but I was very disappointed and would not recommend this hotel for family rooms..

This hotel is in a nice location although a bit remote about four miles from Bath. The views from the hotel are very pretty and it is a nice building. There is a local bus to Bath from a stop a few hundred yards from the hotel. Staff were pleasant and dining area quite good although a bit chilly in the evening,we usually managed to get a table near the radiator.Breakfasts were adequate,several cereals,some fruits and pastries. Usual things on hot buffet,egg variations from scrambled have to be ordered. Evening meals on the whole were also good,a lot of choice and reasonably priced,my only disappointment was the guinea fowl dish. Bedroom 29 very spacious with nice view and comfortable bed.

A great place for weekend break. A bit out of the way and a terrible turn into Woods Hill form main road if coming from top direction. (no advance signage) Not particularly good place to find in the dark. A bit tired but have had some refurbishments. Rooms comfortable, tea/coffee making facility, good size TV, great breakfast, lots of parking space and friendly bar/relaxing area. 20 minutes drive into Bath. Better to drive and pay high parking rates than rely on buses or /park & ride from here. Our room, not overlarge but adequate had a bathroom door with no catch-could only shut from inside! A simple ball catch would resolve this. Rear rooms have views of carpark and flat roofing of ground floor. If you have walking issues or a wheelchair then i would avoid the 1st floor as the floor is VERY uneven and slopes to one side badly.Great value.

Stayed here again while visiting our daughter who is at uni in Bath. We booked direct with the hotel - a standard double room and the rate was very competitive for Bath. Lovely room, clean and fresh and the bed was massive and so comfortable. Everything we needed was there, lots of towels, tea and coffee and the room was cozy, warm and very comfortable. We slept very well and found the hotel nice and quiet. We also had dinner there which was great. The service was excellent in the restaurant and the food was really good. I can recommend the smoked mackerel pate starter and the sausage and mash was delicious. The steaks were also good. We had ice cream and eton mess for dessert which was delicious too. Finished with a cup of tea on a lovely tray with two delicious chocolate mints. A few drinks at the bar, where the log fire was blazing was a lovely end to our day. We will definitely return when visiting our daughter again.

We booked ourselves a room to celebrate a birthday on Friday night. Arrived to find ample car parking outside the hotel. Hotel is well presented and looks lovely from the outside. The entrance leads to a wide corridor with wooden flooring. We were greeted by a lovely helpful receptionist who checked us in quickly and efficiently. We were given room 17, which to our surprise has a four poster bed and is the bridal suite. The room was beautiful and the bed very comfy. Views from the window are stunning. We ate in the restaurant in the evening. The menu choices were varied and the food and service super. The bar is great also. Many if the communal room have log burners which is a lovely touch on a cold day. Breakfast was included in the price and was also great. We had a fantastic stay and will return again. It's perfectly placed for visiting Bath but far enough out for some relaxation.

Myself and my partner took advantage of a Kwik-Fit promotion offering a free night stay at selected hotels and opted to stay at the Limpley Stoke Hotel to explore Bath. We had one night's free stay and paid for a second arriving on a Thursday afternoon and checking out Saturday morning. On arrival Thursday afternoon found a parking space directly outside the hotel and we were swiftly checked in by very helpful staff. On booking in we made a reservation in the hotel restaurant the same evening. We have gone to our room which on first glance made us laugh, the doorframe to the room was at a wonk hearing floorboards creaking underneath us we were not overly confident. The room itself was quaint and pleasant. It certainly maintained the character of the building. The bed was comfortable and the facilities adequate. We have quenched our thirst with a few drinks at the hotel bar opting to sit outside overlooking the hotel grounds and the surrounding valley with what I imagine to be breathtaking views on a summers day. The food from within the restaurant was delicious. I was tempted by the pork whilst my partner enjoyed the guinea-fowl. Service was unusual with one waiter serving the entire restaurant, proving it quite difficult to catch his attention if there are more than a few small tables eating. However, overall a pleasant dining experience. We followed this up with a few more drinks at the bar next to the fire place. The bar for all its positives certainly lacks any sort of atmosphere. The following day we have booked an early taxi into Bath costing us a little over £13 and have spent the day exploring, eating and drinking. On returning to the hotel we found some difficulty in finding a taxi which had not been booked in the City centre and following a quick phone call to a local taxi company we were back at the hotel without hassle. We have ordered room service that evening which proved to be whatever the night porter could grab from the bar, a little disappointing. On checking out, prior to leaving the room the England Vs New Zealand rugby match had kicked off and from out second floor room we could hear live running commentary from those watching in the bar. This was not an issue, however could imagine it being very loud during a wedding, even on the second floor. Overall, a very picturesque hotel in a wonderful setting. Both a hotel full of character and one requiring a little TLC. I certainly think that at the price you are left wanting more. I would recommend the hotel but think that if you are looking to explore Bath then there is cheaper / more conveniant options.

We booked in for one night on a Saturday to have a relaxing quiet night however upon arriving at the hotel could not find a single parking space as there was a wedding. we parked on a busy country lane in the dark and trekked up the hill to the hotel. the staff were kind and one gentleman moved his car however a bad start. there was a very loud wedding reception taking over majority of the hotel. we paid £150 for our one night stay and the room was tiny. we chose a double room with a view and the view was very average out of a tiny window. the bed was like laying on 5 horrible springs and the room was outdated, dirty and cramped. The wedding reception was blaring music. So did not get much sleep. called down to reception at midnight asking for the music to be turned down as we came to relax and they said there was nothing they could do. Not impressed at all. we stayed at a nearby hotel Homewood hotel and spa last time for similar price and the experience was miles better. Do not recommend!

Booked in, and was told by reception, that if we wanted to eat in the restaurant, we'd have to book a table, or we could eat in the bar, from the bar menu. We took our belongings up to our room, and 15 minutes later we went downstairs to book a table. Nope! If we wanted to wait until 20.30, they could reserve a table. If the man on reception had told us there were only a few tables left, we would have reserved one, but he couldn't be bothered to tell us. We declined, and went into the bar to see what the menu was like. I wouldn't mind eating in the bar if there were proper tables, but there were only low tables, which would mean that we were leaning over our food. Our room was nice, nothing special, 2 single mattresses pushed together to make a super king size bed. Bloody awful mattresses they were too! They were really old. The shower was pathetic, when the hot water finally came through and you got the desired temperature, when you put the shower head back in the holder, it went cold pretty quickly. Obviously the hot water pressure is very weak. I can piss faster than that shower.

Stayed here for three nights towards the end of October. This hotel is set in an old building and the rooms are set over various levels. The room I had was to the rear of the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. Good facilities with a restaurant and bar both serving food. Due to the location of the hotel I ate in the three nights I was staying. The food was good and reasonably priced. The staff were lovely and very efficient. My only complaints were the phone signal in my room was non existent though ok in the bar. The wifi was good with enough bandwidth to FaceTime. Some of the road routes from the hotel were a bit of a climb and and difficult to get good traction when the roads were wet.

A beautiful hotel and surrounding area very close to central Bath with a less hefty price tag. The customer service was excellent as the staff were charming and helpful at all times. The room was a little dated and tired looking but comfortable.

I absolutely love this hotel we always try and stay here when visiting Bath although it is a short drive into Bath it is well worth it. The building itself is lovely both inside and out and the views over the village are spectacular. We received a warm welcome from reception and this courtesy was consistent from the first class breakfast service to the bar and cleaning staff. The rooms are lovely and the level of cleanliness is superb there is sufficient lighting for applying makeup loads of coat hangers perfectly placed plug points I could go on and on praising this hotel the only negative which is personal preference is the buffet breakfast although it was checked and refilled constantly. The communal areas are very comfortable and tastefully decorated ideal for curling up with a good book and a glass of wine looking over the village.

Our daughter was married at Limpley Stoke Hotel on 5th October and we heartily recommend this venue as a wedding venue. The wedding coordinator, Karen, and her marvellous team, provided a professional and seemingly effortless unobtrusive service throughout the day. But we know that doesn't happen without immense careful preparation and attention to detail. You know you are in safe hands.

This hotel looks wonderful from the exterior and the staff provide good service however the interior is very dated and requires a significant refurbishment. The quality of food served is absolutely inadequate for a hotel.

Lovely old building, well presented inside and out, great views from the windows. We had an executive room which was extremely nice for a special occasion. Staff very friendly, food menu was outstanding, no faults whatsoever. Would definitely recommend.

Hotel was lovely, felt very welcoming, rooms where slightly too hot for us but we managed. Hot water wasnt hot so was a let down after a 4.5 hr drive. On the whole amazing stay, food in the restaurant was amazing, full of flavour and well presented. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Wanted to visit Bath for a 2 day break...all Hotels in Centre of Bath are extortionate. Found this little Hotel just 5 miles outside. It's 3 star and reasonably priced, ideal if want to spend days in Bath and just use it as a base. Ate in the resturant on the first night..it was fine with the usual fare..Rump Steak £15.95, Burger £12.95..etc Bar has is well stocked with a nice terrrace to sit on if the weather if fine. Breakfast was pretty basic and by the end of service they seemed to keep running out of bits...juice, bread..etc which guets had to keep asking for. On the Friday we ate in Bath, which was just as well as when we returned there was a Wedding on and the bar was full of the guests..I always feel a bit akward when this happens as you are not obviously invited. It maybe worth asking if stay on a FRi or Sat if there is a Wedding Booked.

What a brilliant find. Set in the lovely village of Limpley Stoke, we stayed here last Thursday. I chose an executive room including breakfast and we ot room 39 which was a spacious room with glorious views across the valley, and a balcony! Hotel had plenty of parking and check in was quick simple, and with a warm welcome. We chose to eat evening dinner and had a nice 3 course meal. Service was quick and food was lovely. Room was well equipped with large tv, hairdryer, bathroom was a good size with walk in shower. Hotel had a nice bar with open fire, although we didn't use the bar. Interior of the hotel was clean... decor was quaint period inkeeping with the property. We went down to breakfast towards end of the breakfast time but selection of hot and cold food was good and there were extra items to order all included in the room rate.... so ordered porridge which came out a few minutes later.... nice and creamy! Overall I was delighted with the hotel, which I have to say exceeded their star rating. If we are visiting the area again we will definitely book here again.... and you should too!

Unfortunately we did not have as much time as we would have liked to enjoy the area but the hotel looks absolutely stunning against the rural background. The Limpley Stoke Hotel is a gorgeous old building set in among rolling farms and streams. There was a very short commuter train that came by fairly often but stopped early in the evening. The view from our room was pure pastoral bliss.

Don't even this of staying here. Floors are slanted 10-15 degrees. Head of bed lower than food by same degree. Bathroom fixtures come off in your hands and hot water is limited. Toilet doesn't remove debris. Sink gurgles all night. Staff not available after 11. WiFi is a joke. Housekeeping comes in uninvited. Check in is Slow. Thanks

Stayed here one night during the August bank holiday. Standard of service was not really on a high level, especially for the breakfast which was not well conducted. The room was rather small and everything beyond the main hall and lobby was slightly run down. Housekeeping started hoovering the halls as early as 9 am, not waiting for the check-out time. Not all the staff spoke English very well. Even though there were not major problems, one would expect an overall better product.

For a three star hotel you get that for sure, always seems to be a wedding reception going on The roads are very narrow but you are rewarded with a great setting when you arrive Could do with a good full redecoration

Took my wife on a surprise short break to Limpley Stoke, she loved the building, huge old country house. The room was amazing and the bed was enormous. It's a little faded around the edge but this makes it all the better. Food and views are brilliant.

We visited at August Bank Holiday weekend & the place was packed. There was a wedding reception & of cause all the best rooms were all taken. We were relegated to the back of the hotel looking out to the bins area. Worse the car park was completely full & mostly with wedding guests that's not even staying at the hotel, we ended up having to park off streets in the village which was also crammed full with cars. Luckily as we were all the way on the top floor away from the front, we hardly hear any loud music or noise from the party. But lots of door banging through out the night with guests coming & going pass midnight. The breakfast was OK, buffet with plenty of choices and the waiting staffs were very efficient clearing table & sitting people down. But they only serve scramble eggs. On the Sunday after the wedding, the place seem to be taken over with hen parties instead. So again lots of doors banging into late nights & silly giggling girls (& not so young girls) running around the place. The other unfortunately issue was the nearest pub was closed for refurbishment. So in the evening there was absolutely nothing happening near by. The nearest pub was The Inn at Freshford about 1 mile away. Its a nice walk by the river to the next village, but a bit of a track to find your way back in the dark after dark. Over all, I would think the hotel would be nicer without the crowds, but without much happening there's really not much to recommend the place.

Limpley Stoke Hotel is a reasonable hotel that is equidistant from Bath/Bradford-on-Avon that gave my wife and i the opportunity to walk the towpaths. Bath, as always, is a hub of activity and friendly place to shop and while away the day. Bradford-on-Avon is a lovely picturesque town with relaxing parks, cafes.

Husband and I booked an executive room (#17) for our 3rd wedding anniversary. The hotel looks very impressive from outside and this feel continues inside. Very reasonable price for an executive room with breakfast, friendly staff and efficient housekeeping. Room #17 (with the 4 poster bed) on 1st floor had a lovely view of the garden (photo added), you will hear an occasional train and some movement upstairs but nothing too disruptive. Room and ensuite spacious and clean. Could do with a bit of a refresh decor wise but obviously didn't affect stay. Smart TV in the room was appreciated with Netflix and YouTube available. No air con but windows open and there's a fan in the room if needed. Breakfast was nice, hot buffet and option to order items from menu. Enjoyed the background music playing whilst we ate. Both check in and check out was simple. Not walking distance to Bath but enjoyed staying outside of the centre.

Our stay here was very good, there is a restaurant and bar. The room was fine and the staff very helpful. Pity the Hop Pole Inn was closed. There is a very good bus service from the bridge (5 mins walk), catch the D1 it runs every half hour. We got a group ticket for £9 allowing travel on any First bus all day for 5 people, perfect for getting in to Bath City.

Impressive building with lovely views. Nice terrace. Our room was comfortable. All the staff were pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast was good and so was the sandwich we had off their lunch menu in the bar.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the Limpley Stoke Hotel on 17th Aug 2019. Wedding planning was like a dream, Karen helped us making sure everything runs smoothly. Having her as a wedding coordinator allowed us to enjoy the day fully. She helped with planning, setting up decorations, ceremony, keeping the timing, she helped with absolutely everything and she accommodated all our random requests. Food - amazing. We ate at the restaurant the day before our wedding and everything was delicious. Our guests were really happy with the wedding meal and buffet. I can't find a single thing to complain. Limpley Stoke Hotel as a wedding venue - 5 stars! Our guests enjoyed the outdoor space. Everyone loved the disco - thank you Stan! We had one guest on gluten free diet and she was happy with her meal as well. Limpley Stoke Hotel as a place to stay - I agree that rooms need a bit of updating, also our shower drain cover was a bit chipped, but it did not affect the enjoyment of staying there. The rooms were clean and breakfast is going to be the highlight of your morning - great sausages and lovely pastries. You either find the rooms charming or you prefer newer buildings. I assume it depends on person. Overall, I would stay again while visiting Bath. The price is reasonable considering it is about 15 min taxi ride from the city centre and this hotel provides car park with no additional charge - parking in Bath in general is difficult so always look for a hotel with a car park. Taxi ride from Bath Spa costs about £11

Clean comfortable and welcoming. Staff were great, there was a wedding on the night we stayed but you wouldn't have known. No noise or issues that affected our stay! Food and drinks were well priced and very enjoyable. Staff were up of a laugh and assisted us where needed.

Came here as part of a reward from my car company, as I am from the city we thought it would be nice to go out into the country a little, Great location plenty things around there today not too far from Bath centre but also lovely pubs around from there. Rooms for cosy everything very clean great rustic feel and very kind staff, 10 out of 10 definitely recommend!

So glad we found this hotel. A bus or taxi ride outside Bath so a lovely country location! We would highly recommend this hotel. It is indeed very old but as a result is very charming. Also, good prices for peak season!

Lovely setting, interesting venue. We had a lovely day at a large family wedding. We were very well looked after with good food and drink. The grounds were a bonus and well used throughout. We didn't stay in the hotel but some of the family did.

I hate to leave a negative review as I've worked in hospitality for a number of years; however this means I know how to speak to guests and this hotel clearly doesn't. I made a separate complaint about the way I was spoken to by a certain member of staff at Breakfast in front of an entire room - which was in a manner that was degrading, patronising and rude. This was dealt with by saying that the staff member admitted that her tone could have been misinterpreted; but then was followed by guest blaming. No apology. £12 for lukewarm and tasteless breakfast is extortionate anyway. The hotel itself is stunning from the outside however on the inside is unwelcoming and claustrophobic- something out of fawlty towers. The rooms on the surface were clean enough it was only when I dropped something down the side of the sink I realised how filthy they were. The rooms were hot but they did give a fan for air conditioning. While there are a couple of members of staff who are great (the bar manager Reece and I think it was Manuel on reception) who couldn't of done enough for guests and always had a smile on their face. A lot of the staff acted like it was a hassle to serve guests; we asked for a taxi to be ordered to take us into bath as one group - reception ordered two taxis without telling us and expected us to split our party up - which defeated the purpose of us ordering a taxi in the first place. I also got post delivered to the hotel (I rang up to check I could do this) I ordered a twin room, and got a double - when I pointed out the error I was told the hotel was to busy to fix it that same day; they fixed it the next day - however why could they not fix it the same day and give me what I'd booked? Let's move into the restaurant - I ate in their twice and twice my order was wrong. The staff gave us a bill and said we had to pay it at reception -but didn't write down the prices of what we had - it took around 45 minutes to sort a bill out! Ridiculous! Overall it's a pretty location and the drinks are good in the bar; I think they need to maybe fix the parking a little- when we arrived there was a wedding and they were having photos outside the beautiful building- which meant they were having photos in the car park and there were guests and children running everywhere- not so safe; but it's great there was free parking. The location and village is stunning and next time I think I'd make the most of the location and go camping.

Lovely hotel in stunning setting. Staff friendly and very attentive and helpful. However, do not feel hotel is alive to needs of the disabled. Despite making my requirements clear when booking bathroom had very high step up into shower. Also steps into bar and dining room should have rails. Having said all this I had a very enjoyable stay.

Good service, room and breakfast. It's a very old building some parts dating back to the 1600 so the exterior of the building could do with a few million spending on it to bring it back to it's former glory. It's the sort of building Americans would love. We were there just over night for accommodation so it did what it said on the tin but for us was a bit pricey for 8 hours sleep and breakfast. Interesting location and an expedition to find it. It's old in the country with lots of history so certainly not a modern Prem Inn.

We stayed a few nights at the hotel and whilst we found the decor a little dated, the rest of the hotel was very good. Our rooms where very clean and tidy, having the usual tea and coffee facilities. The food in the restaurant was very nice and sensibly portioned. We encountered a problem with our room and it was fixed immediately, every member of staff was polite, friendly and the duty manager was brilliant, she made us welcome and we had a laugh. I found out the wrong way she as Lithuanian, she made a joke of it though. I believe the price we paid was good value, very easy to get to Bath by bus and the views were spectacular.

Stayed in this hotel as we were at a wedding nearby. Beautiful old building with great views of the Avon Valley. We got an accessible room which we reached around the back of the hotel. It was large and comfortable with a bath. We dined at the restaurant which was very enjoyable. I had the duck and my girlfriend had the lamb. Food allergens were catered for and the puddings were delicious. Overall a great place to stay. Would visit again.

A very friendly and efficient welcome. Comfortable beds and clean room. Quite an old building with some sloping floors but very well cared for. We were a bit worried when we could hear a train whistle and traffic late afternoon but it was a very quiet night apart from a thunderstorm. We didn't want to open the window but were kept cool by a large fan through the night. Very good selection for breakfast. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

Having stayed at this delightfully situated and attractive hotel several times before during 2019, we were very disappointed this time with our experience right from arrival. Staff, both on reception and in the bar (and some of them at breakfast) gave the impression they were disinterested in the guests and were poorly trained/managed. Our experience on reception was very poor. We had pre-booked two rooms for one night, with breakfast, and had had this confirmed at £101 each. We were presented with a bill for £109 for one of the rooms, and £119 for the other. On querying this, one of the rooms was reduced to £101. The other stayed at £119. An embarrassing queue formed behind us at reception whilst the receptionist attempted to sort the matter out. The room we were allocated was dark, fairly small and hot. There was no attempt to mitigate the heat. The lighting in the room was not conducive to reading - the main room light had to be on all the while and reading in bed was impossible due to lighting being provided by up-lighters.

Looks lovely in the photos but in reality stayting here felt like stepping back into the 1970s, the only good point was the beautiful location, otherwise I can't think of anything good to say. I couldn't recommend this hotel.

We booked our wedding under the package deal for this hotel we cannot fault anything on the day or leading up to our day with our wedding planner Karen Georgina went above and beyond in the reserving and sorting out our room reservations for ourselves family and guests The staff all worked hard and made our day special The meals were all very nice and lots of comments on how nice the breakfast was too Lovely location plenty of parking very nicely done out Would definitely recommend this venue if you are looking to have your wedding

I booked this hotel because I was supervising the renovation of my son's flat in Bath. Arrived and was allocated whose toilet did not flush. Went back to the reception to complain, and was told that I have to wait for some to come fix the toilet. I told the receptionist that that will not do, as I had arrived nearly midnight and the last thing I want to do is wait for someone to come fix my toilet. I asked for another room and was told I could only have the room for one night that because the hotel was fully booked the next day and am staying for 5 nights. Anyway, I informed that I will not be moving and she can jolly well give the new arrivals the room she had allocated me. The room I was allocated in the end was on the top floor of non descriptive part of the old and tired building. The room was like an oven, the shower did not function properly, the water was either too cold or too hot. When you greet the hotel employees in the morning they mainly just stare pass you. The decor was tired and dated but for the fact that I had prepaid for the room, I would have moved. I am glad to finish my son's renovation and check out. The only good point, is that the hotel was quite generous with the supply of the tea and coffee left in the room. They should dispose of the towels as they smell and past their usefulness.

Was happy with the hotel generally except one evening on our return to the hotel no one was available on reception or in the bar. After ringing the bell several times all staff on duty appeared from a room close to the reception and bar.

Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous setting! The hotel was clean and freshly decorated. It was comfortable and the food was superb! We stayed here on our way back from Glastonbury. The staff were very friendly.

Old tired rooms. Not informed of a wedding being held at the hotel until we arrived for our stay. We weren't happy with the room we were allocated due to the height of the bed and the instability of the bed also, we ended up having to take a standard double even though we had paid for an executive room with a view, the room we ended up in had a view of the top of a roof

Booked an exec room and room was terrible. Bed stood 3 ft off the floor and needed steps to get up on it. Tried 2 other rooms before one was ok. Check in was good, a really helpful lady on the desk. Check out however was the opposite just checked we hadn't added anything on our bill and said good bye. Drinks over priced and bar staff we not always present. Breakfast was disappointing with not a lot of choice. No way worth £12 a head.

Lovely location, but not the best stay I'm afraid. Attention to detail lacking in all areas, from allocation of room 1st floor direcltly above wedding event with disco until 1am (there must have been a better room choice for non wedding guests). Admittely I was informed that there was a wedding when I booked. Lack of attention within room, badly stained chair, newspapers left in room from previous guest and customer service form already filled out by previous guest. Breakfast , no table ready to accomodate our party. No crossaints or pastries available only half way through breakfast service. Waitress reply ALL GONE. Again such a wonderful location, but personally, would not stay here again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Amazing views, staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and had a lovely little balcony. We plan on coming back for our anniversary again next year.

This hotel is situated on the side of the valley overlooking the village of Limpley Stoke. It is a charming setting, but in the middle of nowhere. We chose it for its nearness to Bath and were under the impression that we could catch the train to Bath instead of driving. Unfortunately, the train doesn't stop there any more. We were unable to make dining reservations because this property seems to cater to large gatherings/weddings/large motor bus tours. There are no other eating establishments in the village so we had to drive on very narrow roads to get to the Freshford Inn and Pub. The rooms are adequate with a double bed. We had an amazing view of the village and Avon River. Would have appreciated complimentary body lotion as the water is very hard. We traveled from the US and did not bring many toiletries. There is a lounge and bar that is on the main floor. Service was sketchy and we had to use a phone at the bar to summon a bartender. There is the option of ordering from a bar menu if the restaurant is full, but the tables in the lounge are very low and impossible to eat a meal off of. The breakfast buffet offering is varied and fresh. My husband attempted to order an egg white omelet on our first 2 mornings, but the concept was beyond the wait staff, so he gave up and settled for the cold buffet. The hotel is in desperate need of updating, but given its rustic location, it fits in well with its surroundings. We spent 3 nights there, had an interesting experience and would honestly say we would not return. Just too far out of the was for tourists.

£114 for one night with breakfast, room is small and stuffy not decorated particularly well even the net curtain had a giant rip in it, trying to relax in afternoon and you can hear a train horn go off every 20 minutes. A wedding was held at the hotel so music was blasting out downstairs so couldnt even enjoy a drink in the bar.Wish i stayed a premier inn for half the price. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD

Picked this hotel as close enough to Bath to get into the city but still in the beautiful countryside. Staff very friendly, rooms are a bit dated but it adds to the charm of the hotel. Breakfast again is a little old fashioned but still very tasty.

Nice spacious room with comfortable bed and friendly check in . Sadly at 5am the noise of the neighbouring residents using their bathroom was extremely loud and the creaky floorboards was extra disturbance .

Lovely country hotel - wonderful view from a perfect bedroom - loaded with history and character. Arrived late tired and hungry but was provided with sandwiches in my room. The decor of the room was very pleasing and the carpet new. Bathroom well fitted out. Bed oh so comfy and for once the weight of the duvet was perfect. Even able to open the window! Loved every minute of it!

This is a good hotel. Staff were very accomodating. We had a family room a double and single bed and thankfully the single bed was just that, not a cot. The beds however were not comfortable. A double bed in this day and age is just too small. The beds just felt, old. Duvets were heavy, what one needs now the weather is generally warmer. openeing the window would have meant the person in the single bed would have got a draft as the bed was pressed against the window. We felt the bar costs were on the expensive side. Food was good and honest. beakfast at just over £5.00 head was well priced. Having said all that overall this hotel was good value for money, and we would stay again. 5 miles outside of Bath, you need your own transport.

Not the most impressive facade but when you walk inside you become totally engaged with the history of this lovely building. Limpley Stoke is a few miles out of Bath but worth the drive, it is a beautiful little village. Take the time to walk the streets and see the pretty little gardens and view the photo worthy viaduct. The hotel rooms are comfortable and clean and well equipped with the usual travelling essentials. The little pub at the end of the driveway was closed for renovations and as we did not want to take the car out we ate in house. The food was of good quality and my dad really enjoyed his mussels. After a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed we started the day with a good buffet breakfast.

Stayed here for a wedding , the room was very small and basic , bathroom so small I had to move to bedroom to dry after shower. This hotel needs seriously updating . Windows were filthy. The breakfast was very basic , tinned fruit etc. Such a shame as the setting was lovely , it could be such a lovely hotel with some updating. Wouldn't stay here again.

The hotel is OK. The area around the hotel is very beautiful. The hotel from outside looks impressive. The rooms are just ok. Clean room. I would stay again. It's a bit far from Bath. The check in was a bit late (after 15.00)

No tv signal. Couldn't get through to reception to report it . Ventilation system outside bedroom was very loud.shower boiling or freezing. Beds were so uncomfortable we asked for another duvet to be sent to cover the mattress . These photos are all of the same disgusting duvet that I was given . It was filthy . Revolting. Dated decor in room. Won't be back .

Beautiful location, lovely building but in need of some tlc. Weddings on both days that we weren't advised of when we booked meant that there was no chance of being able to relax in the bar in the evening. A shame as this place has real potential. All staff were excellent and deserve better support from Best Western.

Quite a tired looking hotel needs a lot of upgrade and the bridal sweet very old fashioned ,disappointing food and wedding coordinator needs to let the people who's wedding it is make more choices , also advise not have deliveries of food during wedding services held outside.

The hotel is an old building with very nice views. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and went out of their way to help. The food was excellent. However a couple of things marred our stay. 1. The hotel often hosts wedding venues and we had two during our stay. One night we could not sleep until 01 am because of guests talking loudly outside our bedroom, returning to their rooms rather noisily and banging on the floor above. As this was our last night it was too late to complain. We would have expected the hotel management to have put us on the other side of the hotel away from the wedding! 2. The duvet covers were shabby and had holes in them 3. Only the bottom half of the sash window could be opened

Me and my partner needed an escape from the hustle and bustle of life and wanted to get away somewhere far from all the crowd and spend some time on our own in peace, nature and serenity. So looked up on internet and found this hotel just outside of Bath city. Very peaceful, friendly staff, serene environment, excellent food , brilliant service . What more would we need than that. Thanks to all the member of staff and shout out to Paul. You made our day and our stay. Will be back at some point.

Loved this hotel. Great location as it was nice to stay outside of the city in the ‘real rural' part of bath, however it's best if you have a car to get around the area. This hotel is situated in an extremely beautiful, picturesque and peaceful location. All staff were extremely professional and approachable. Check in and check out was smooth and everything was explained well and the breakfast was great (nice bonus that fried food was also inclusive in the bed and breakfast price). The rooms were clean, cosy, nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Excellent value for money and certainly just the break I was looking for. Looking forward to my next visit already.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. Check-in and out was swift and easy. The hotel was simple and slightly dated. It was fine for the one night. Could do with an update and redecoration. The lounge was too cold so we sat in the bar area where there was a fire.

I had an enjoyable stay with the Limpley Stoke hotel over the early May bank holiday. Firstly, the positives: The location is brilliant, if you want to get away from the Hussle and bustle of city life then Limpley Stoke is the place to be. Although only 3 miles outside Bath it feels like its a lot further out, with the narrow country lanes and general quaintness of the village. I did find walking to the next village to be problematic mind you, as the pathway is overgrown with weeds and vegetation and is barely passable whereas the road route doesn't have a pavement for large parts of it, making the hotel seem like the only place in the village for socialising. The rooms were all to a good standard, very clean and tidy and there were no issues here. The breakfast was excellent and I liked the idea of being able to order different varieties of eggs, as not everyone liked the scrambled variety! We also had dinner on the first night (linked to my earlier point) and this was relatively pricey, but of a good standard. All of the staff members were very polite and helpful and you will get no complaints from me. The main negative to point out is the size of the car park. Initially it looks big enough for the guests however as we were staying over a weekend, there were wedding parties on the Friday and Saturday (not overly loud to be honest) however it does cause chaos in the car park, to the extent where we either walked or took public transport for the majority of our stay for fear of literally not having anywhere to park in the village. There isnt a lot that can be done about this due to the lack of space, however please bear it in mind if considering travelling here over a weekend. Overall it was an excellent stay and I will consider returning in the future (maybe midweek!)

We got married here in May 2019. The hotel was wonderful, couldn't accommodate us or our guests enough. The hotel was clean, inviting and warm. We had the bridal suite with the balcony, the room was spacious, bright and a very generous size. Absolutely stunning views. The staff couldn't do enough for us or our guests and the food was some of the best I've tasted. The price of the rooms / weddings is amazing for everything you get. We stayed in a “ 5*star hotel “ the following night and was no where near as nice as the Limpley Stoke hotel. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in bath.

An old country house in a hillside setting. You get amazing views of the River Avon, the Avon canal and a pretty valley. The house is tired but comfortable . There is a restaurant with a limited menu, most people eat in the bar area. The menu there is more acceptable. The food is delicious. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have had in a hotel.

We came here for a 2 night stay on some family business in Bath. The hotel looks great on the website etc but in reality it's very tired and in desperate need of updating. The hallways have threadbare, grubby carpeting, the room we stayed in needed some tlc and the public areas are also lacking (dining tables with rusty legs, dining chairs that have seen better days etc). The food was OK, but over priced, as was the very expensive bar. Staff are all friendly but for the most part absent. One of the most telling things for us was being told at reception, at check in, where the patio area was but that the furniture needs replacing - this is the staff view of the hotel! It's a real shame as this could be a lovely hotel - the location and setting are wonderful. For a business traveller the hotel is totally functional and adequate, but for anything more I'd think twice, certainly avoid if you want a romantic get-away.

We enjoyed our stay , staff friendly and helpful , the breakfast was good the food in the restaurant or bar was nice , the bar was very chilled and plenty of room and quite,just wise 2 chairs in room when its a double room

I stayed here for work recently. Overall it was ok but mixed. Good location and parking. A little quirky due to it's age but I prefer this to many modern hotels. Looks like most floors were serviced by the lift. The room was large, looked good and had a nice view across the valley. The bathroom had a decent shower and plenty of shampoo etc. Went for dinner, just 4 in the restaurant but told they were busy and would need to wait for 15 mins before going in. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful and the meal was good. Wifi included and reasonable strength throughout the hotel. Large bar with plenty of seating and outside terrace and again great views. Bed was a little lumpy and noise carried from the corridor, particularly when some very late arrival guests came past - you could hear every word. Buffet breakfast, which I prefer when in a hurry, just average and no offer of fried eggs. Overall needs some updating but I would I come back again if in the area.

The hotel was lovely, warm and comfortable. Food however was disapointing. They weren't busy but the food was expensive and not particularly inspiring. Chips were strangely dry, fish portion was small. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Nice building on the outside in a lovely quiet part of Wiltshire just fifteen minutes drive from Bath. The reception area is nothing to shout about but friendly courteous staff quickly see to your needs. The rooms are in need of some updating and maintenance. A big corner of the door was missing and the toilet pedestal was unstable along with a strip of rough sawn timber fixing the shower screen to the wall. What I was more alarmed at though was the red insulation tape wrapped around a block connector on the bed side lights flex. Im sure a more secure safe form of joining the cables could be used and Im sure it wouldn't pass a PAT test. The room was clean however and the bed was comfortable and slept soundly till woken by bottles being tipped into bins at the back of the hotel. The room definitely needs a makeover as its dated and if you've read my previous reviews you know I hate seeing cables running across the walls for TVs.

Found this stunning hotel by accident when looking go for acomodation in Bath .located about 5 miles outside bath in the Avon valley , very picturesque and peaceful village with excellent public transport links into bath and surrounding towns and villages

The Limpley Stoke Hotel was my first introduction to hospitality in Great Britain. Wow, the location was picturesque. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to serve. My travel partner and I had this hotel booked through Adeo Travel in Wales. This was a great beginning to a fourteen day self-driving journey of over 3,000 miles through England, Wales, and Scotland. I can say that I am completely satisfied with this hotel and the service provided by Adeo Travel. I do not believe it would be wise to attempt a self-driving tour such as this one without the assistance of such an agency that has knowledgeable consultants who are familiar with the ins and outs of their countries. Also, I would say a visit to Bath would not be complete without a stay in the Limpley Stoke Hotel.

Fantastic quiet beautiful location, staff were very friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, plenty if choice. Missing the view from our bedroom window. Ideal location for Bath and surrounding attractions

This was our second visit to this hotel. We were allocated a large double room on the second floor with a well appointed bathroom. Tea and coffee in the room with a nice extra being hot chocolate that we enjoyed after our night out. The bed was very comfortable and the shower easy to use. No rubber mat so we had to be careful while showering. Breakfast was good however lacked a variety of fresh fruit and plain yogurt. It was a buffet however and you could order porridge and your eggs straight from the kitchen. Made to order. A nice touch that other hotels would be wise to adopt. Would we stay again - yes and the staff were friendly and their approach was spot on.

Visited Bath for the Xmas markets and to include a show. Hotel is 3 miles outside the City Centre so chose to taxi in, rather than fight for the car parks. Lovely hotel, excellent breakfast and bar facilities. Room was comfortable and what you would expect from a Best Western.

Our room was clean and spacious with a large comfortable bed and comfy bedding. Very peaceful and with a beautiful countryside view. The hotel is in a lovely building and setting and with amazing potential but generally a bit run down in places. The biggest con for us was the food. We had dinner at the hotel, it was well presented but clearly cooked by someone with far less talent than the average home cook. Breakfast was also not great, things like tinned stewed prunes etc offer that few people eat nowadays. Our greatest sadness was that they only served instant coffee! My husband ordered a cappuccino to find it was not only instant coffee but also made with powdered milk!

Our son and his wife held their wedding reception here and many of the guests stayed too. It was a wonderful day, the hotel is in a beautiful setting and everyone had a great time. The wedding breakfast exceeded our expectations and the staff were all very attentive. Our thanks to Karen and the staff for making the day so special. Angie and Colin

This is a lovely old building in a stunning location. We stayed for 3 nights in a family room, which was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated with views over the valley; my only criticism is that it was very small for a family room. Breakfast was good as was dinner in the evening. All staff were friendly and helpful. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the decoration in the hotel is a little tired, but while we were there they were in the process of decorating a number of bedrooms and the bar. All in all a very pleasant stay and we hope to return in the near future.

This is a very old building and the inside keeps up that trend. Our room was basic but clean but some less able guests may find the upstairs corridors and floors difficult as subsidence has made some of them very uneven. The corridor to our room on the first floor was the most sloping floor I have ever come across and we had to walk down hill to the bath in our bathroom. We got a discounted price of £89 for a twin room including breakfast as we were staying 1 night for a wedding but at over £100 normally the is not cheap. However the staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. If you want character and setting and are not too concerned about price then this is for you.

Booked to stay not really expecting much as it is a 3 star hotel. Was pleasantly surprised. The hotel looks fantastic from the outside and our room was brilliant. There was a wedding going on and the bar was busy however we ordered food and ate in our room. Food was top notch.

We honeymooned here in 1984, next weekend AND it was my 60th birthday on the Monday. We did mention a couple of times that we were celebrating but there were no treats. The room was clean, the bathroom was good but the shower was either a dribble or was cold - however there was a shower screen and not a shower curtain (a personal hate of mine!) The food was not good - onion gravy had huge bits of raw onion in it, the curry was bland however the fish and chips my husband said was lovely. All the guests were put in the same area of the hotel which meant we were woken both mornings extremely early. We won't be coming back which is a shame.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel 2 nights ago, on a trip to visit family and had an awful experience there. We booked this hotel instead of our usual more budget chain hotels as we wanted a treat ourselves and make more of our mini break. On arrival, check-in was quick, although given little information and had to ask about breakfast times etc. At first glance, the room looked fine, but we soon discovered there was no hot water. We called reception and someone came up and said you just have to wait for the hot water to come through in the taps and shower (we had left it running and already been waiting for over 5 minutes at this point?!) However, the worst thing happened at night. At around midnight, I was woken by a sudden pain on my leg, which quickly turned itchy. We turned the light on to look, and as our eyes adjusted, to our horror we found lots of ladybirds crawling and flying around the bedside table and our bed?! I had a large bite on my leg, which had come up immediately, and since then a few more have come up. My partner got rid of the immediately obviously ladybirds, but more kept appearing and at one point there were about 15-20 crawling around. Horridied, we called reception immediately, to be put through to a man who said he was in bed and this number was only for emergencies?! When he finally came up to our room, he was also horrified and immediately moved us to another room. He was very apologetic and said we should get some sort of reimbursement from reception the following day on checkout for the horrible experience and inconvenience and that he would leave a note for them, to explain. However, the next morning, the lady at reception was extremely rude. She told us it was our fault for leaving the window open. When we explained we had never opened the window as it had been raining all day and night, she accused us of lying as the cleaners always thoroughly check the rooms and there had been nothing wrong before we went in there??!! When I said I had been bitten quite badly, she came back with ‘well what do you expect in the countryside?' No offer of any reimbursement or even an apology. She then told us we should be grateful they had managed to find us another room as if they'd have had an event on, we would have had to stay in the infested room?! We completely understand that sometimes these things can't be helped (although I've stayed in plenty of cheaper hotels and never experienced anything like that), but we were disgusted with how the staff dealt with it and seemed to blame us?! The only reason I'm giving this hotel any stars, is because the food at dinner and breakfast was lovely, as were the staff serving us in the restaurant. Absolutely appalled by the reception staff's attitude.

On arrival we thought the hotel looked a bit shabby. Curtains falling down at upper windows etc. The building itself is imposing and would look so much better in the sunshine. On entering, the reception area was welcoming and clean. Staff polite enough. The bar, is ok, though not manned and you have to phone someone to attend. The room we were given (23) was on the second floor. Each floor has a different patterned carpet! The room was very small, functional, but small! The bed I have to say was noisy, lumpy and very uncomfortable! Both of us hardly slept for the 2 nights, as every time we moved we woke the other up! The bathroom was clean but the water pressure in the shower was non existent! We paid for breakfast which was ok. Eggs cooked to order and the rest buffet. Cereals, pastries, toast etc and the makings of a full English. £12 per person. We didn't eat at the hotel either day other than breakfast but the food looked good! I highly recommend The Inn at Freshford for Sunday roast!! It's an idea to book. The pub opposite the hotel is closed until further notice. All in all I'd say you get what you pay for. We paid £114 for 2 nights B and B booking direct with Best Western. The same on Booking.com was £164. I would have felt cheated if I'd paid that!!! Great location for getting to Bath. We used Taxis at £12-15 Each way. Buses run but not at great times.

We stayed at the Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel, at the weekend as it is a convenient location for visiting Bath. Room rates were average for the area. Rooms were described in their advertising as being individually designed, styled and finished to a high standard. Rooms may have been styled to a high standard some time ago, possibly some years, but ours was in a 'tired' condition. Sound insulation between rooms/floors could also be improved. The dining room was well presented and the food was very good. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking was free, but space rather cramped.

The hotel was in a great loaction with amazing views. All the staff were very helpful & friendly. The food in the lobby area was great caluse and quality. Would 100% reccomd this hotel to anyone who is wanting a night away in the countryside!

The hotel is 10 minutes by car from Bath and is at the top of a steep hill with magnificent views. We stayed for 2 nights in a large family room with views over the valley. The room was pleasant, clean and with comfortable beds. The buffet style breakfast had good selection of pastries, fruit and cereals. You could request how you wanted your eggs cooked and the were brought to the table in a couple of minutes.We ate in the restaurant on the first night. The staff were helpful and polite. Its a lovely area with good walks along the canal. My only criticism is the closeness of the railway line. The first train of the morning to sound its horn was 6.10 and the last one we heard was after 10pm . Despite this we would stay here again

Paul, who is the night manager of the hotel (I believe) was very kind, courteous and a true gentleman! He couldn't do enough for us from printing out information about the history of the hotel to providing information about weddings. He made our stay memorable. Thank you!

Myself and my partner visited for one night. Please note that the directions took you on a trip of a lifetime, the hills are like slopes and the roads are very narrow so please be careful. The parking was fantastic and the actual hotel looks amazing from the outside. Once inside there is quite a grand entrance and although the decor looked dated we were quite impressed. The room was warm and comfortable with a limited view of the flat roof overlooking the dining room at the back of the building. The view however once in the car park was amazing, across the valley, you could see for miles. If you walk down to the right of the entrance there is a beautiful canal you can leisurely walk along which was idilic. The morning cooked breakfast was nice, the dining room was rather large! The coffee however was quite tepid which was unfortunate. Not to sure if I would use this hotel again but like I say, we were pleasantly pleased with the grandure of the building.

The hotel is set in a stunning location, it is an imposing and beautiful building. Our stay was very pleasant. The beds were comfortable and the room although a little tatty round the edges was a good size. We had breakfast in our room which was lovely. There was ample parking and I would be happy to stay there again.

We chose to stay here on our way back from Cardiff, so as to extend our weekend break. It turned out to be in an excellent location overlooking the Limpley Stoke valley. The hotel looks impressive from the outside. Inside it is a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Our room was comfortable with a huge bed and a modern bathroom. We had a very enjoyable meal in the restaurant, although you also have the choice of bar meals. In the morning breakfast was well presented. We were made to feel welcome by the staff. The hotel is only a short walk from the Kennet and Avon canal. As the weather was good we were able to walk the canal both ways to see the Dundas and Avoncliff aqueducts. If you have plenty of time you can walk the canal to Bath or Bradford on Avon. If the weather had not been so good we would have gone into Bath. We noted that there is a regular bus service into Bath, which we could use on another occasion. Over other Bath hotels this hotel has the advantage of being reasonable priced with free parking, although a short distance outside Bath.

A striking building set in a lovely location about 2.5 miles outside of Bath. Friendly lady on reception. Although the hotel needs some tlc it does has a certain charm, so don't go expecting it to be ultra modern. Bathroom tiles had been updated. Room almost at the end of a rambling corridor on the 2nd floor was quiet. A great deal via a booking.com genius deal meant the hotel rate was an absolute bargain. Nice tea and scones in the lounge and my friend enjoyed her egg mayo sandwich. There is a bus service into the centre Bath at the end of the road but we did get a taxi directly to the University of Bath which was under £8. Far better value staying at this Best Western rather than in the centre of Bath and you get free parking!

I stayed here for 2 nights while exploring Bath city. It was amazing experience from beginning until end of our stay in lovely hotel with great view. Hotel location is in breathtaking view, room were clean and big. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed. Moreover its really cheap and you get luxuries experience with small amount of money. And there is free parking which is another perk of this hotel.

If you like Premier Inns, maybe you should think twice about staying here. On the other hand, if you like an imposing hotel in an outstanding village with good food and service, it is highly recommended.

Stopped at this Hotel for the location as we were going to Bath for the Thermea Spa. The location was spot on as there is a regular bus service approximately 5 minutes walk away that takes you to the center of Bath, thus avoiding parking fees of any kind. The Hotel itself was great and were able to give us an upgrade as it was my 60th birthday, which I really appreciated. Had fiends come for one of the nights we stayed and had food in the restaurant which was well prepared and value for money, and they coped well for our vegetarian friend. A warm welcome and good service made our stay very pleasant and was greatly appreciated.

Stayed for 2 nights as I needed to be near to the outskirts of Bath and this was by far the best value 'proper' hotel. Plenty of parking and the room had a HUGE comfy bed. I didn't eat here but chose to eat at The Inn at Freshford as the Hop Pole (opposite) is closed for some reason. I would recommend the journey to Freshford and have reviewed that. The hotel is 'rambling' with corridors and stairways, but this makes it far more personable. The staff I met were both friendly and efficient. I would definitely come here again.

This hotel is in need of a bit of a refurb in some areas. Very clean it has to be said - our room was nice with a modern bathroom which was spotless. Heating wasn't great and though reported, it wasn't fixed but we were there just two nights and it wasn't freezing. I found the staff a little indifferent - breakfast service was a bit hit and miss in that you were seated quickly but not ‘followed up' to sort cooked food such as eggs which weren't on the buffet. Food was good but not the best on the whole. Be warned that Room 6 is directly over one of the rooms for the disco for any weddings and the noise is unbelievable. If you are looking for peace and quiet, best to check what's planned event-wise before booking and make sure you have a room away from this if it's likely to be lively. If you plan to go to Bath there is a station at Freshford a mile away which is walkable but be warned that there is a pretty steep hill to negotiate en route. Bath is ten minutes on the train which is a bonus.

Lovely looking country house hotel, bath stone maybe, than nice sand colour and picturesque setting. Comfortable bar and setting with access to patio overlooking surrounding countryside. Colleague had booked room, largest bed I've seen in UK hotel, bed was three pillows wide, wider than it was long, could have been executive room. Evening buffet was mixture of hot and cod food, all very tasty, drink prices as you'd expect for a hotel, but not excessive around £4 a pint

Our hotel room was very nice, The building is old but has character and you accept you are not expecting modern fictive and fittings. Our bed was comfortable and the room was of good size. The bathroom was functional, although a little on the small size. We had a great view from our two windows. We were on the corner of the building and could see a few houses, river and countryside. The ambiance of the hotel was good. The bar cosy with log fire (probably gas) and bar staff friendly. The bar has double doors leading into a large function room where the disco was. Restaurant along the corridor. Food was good considering large party tables to serve. The hotel is well organised and cater for weddings regularly so are well versed at coping with large numbers of people.

We stayed here for 1 night, the building is gorgeous set in lovely surroundings and gorgeous little River just down the lane with kingfishers first time I've seen one, the reception staff were friendly on arrival and now why the 2 stars, entry to the hotel is a pain a very steep gradient from a blind turn and only big enough for one car to pass through at a time, the pictures give the impression of a reasonable size grounds which are not there at all very small outside area, we went to our room where my very heavily pregnant wife was upset as we had rang and specifically booked a room with a bath which this did not have, we were moved to new room which was smaller but did have a bath which I wasn't happy about as we had not paid for the smaller room and were not offered any remuneration and assured that was the only room they had, when we were shown the room all the windows were open, we dropped our belongings closed the windows and went to greet my wife's mother who was also staying, we ordered a meal at the bar which was good quality and arrived promptly and reasonably priced, but it was not comfortable eating this on sofas, we went back to the room to change and realised why the windows were open it absolutely reeked I've never smelt anything like it, rang reception and told there was no other rooms as there was a prom being held in the hotel so basically had an awful nights sleep as the smell was making us feel ill, breakfast was not the best but not awful either pretty much as you would expect, what was annoying the staff were only starting to clean up from the prom as were finishing breakfast so the place looked a tip. Stunning building and my mother in law's room was fantastic but I wouldn't go back

Had a fantastic evening, room, food and entertainment were all excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful, represents very good value. Lovely old hotel in a nice setting, would definitely visit again.
