    « good experience »

Good location, Good clean room, Smiling helpful staff.Visited on a difficult time during the USA president visit and staff were updated and ready to give directions so that waste of moves would be avoided.

Service is very good as everything in Greece. The hotel feels old. The furniture was very outdated. Cleaning was ok. The bathroom was very small and a bit uncomfortable. Our room 101 was facing the main street, so we had a lot of noise. The price was good and the location was also good. A little walk (12min) to Plaka.

    « GOOD LOCATION »

Good hotel but rooms on street noisy at night needs a good cleaning OK but could use a update good location right near to all areas within walking distance close to metro station have walk a little distance for restaurants

    « Dangerous area. »

Stayed for a few days at the beginning of our trip. People injecting themselves with heroin outside of front entrance everyday. Hookers around the corner. I kid you not. Bad neighbourhood. Not safe at night. Now about the hotel itself. It was full. We had a room with a balcony at the front. Very noisy, needed earplugs to sleep. My mother add her own room. When we got there, the first room they gave her, someone was already in it when she walked in. The second room they gave her also had someone in it!!!!! Finally, third third was unoccupied. The rooms are basic but do the job well. The breakfast, which was included, was good but repetitive. Coffee was good. If you go, ask for an interior room. I don't recommend this place because of the neighbourhood. You've been warned.

    « Very nice »

We stayed at this hotel two different times during our time in Greece. They were very gracious hosts and we enjoyed our stay there. The rooms are clean and functional and the hotel is walking distance to omonia square which is quite handy for catching taxi bus etc. I would recommend this hotel.

    « Excellent »

A very nice hotel, not the most modern, very friendly reception Peron, very good cleaning (daily), breakfast was very good even though it was not very varied, good location. Very pleased with this hotel.

« Decent place to stay around Omonia »

We stayed here for 3 nights. Our room was on a 7th floor with a balcony and very nice views. Room was rather small, still enough for us not to complain. Beds were bit too soft though, fortunately not affecting quality of sleep. One minor issue we had was noise coming from adjoining rooms, could have been better isolated. All in all, very decent option around Omonia to spend few nights.

    4
    « Central Hotel »

We had a clean, largish room (paid for a double, there was a single bed in it also) with plenty of storage space, on the 5th floor. Balcony overlooking the main street; if you look towards the centre of Athens, you can see the top of Lykabettos hill in the distance. Good internet connection. The refrigerator was completely boxed in, so was unable to get cold. Friendly, helplful front desk. The buffet breakfast was good, and had the extra facility of freshly squeezed orange juice, albeit you had to learn to operate the electric juicer yourself. The street it's on is at least central, close to Omonia Square (5 minutes walk) where the metro station is served by two metro lines. Omonia Square is no longer the vibrant place it used to be, but that is outside the control of the hotel.

    « Holidays in Greece »

very sociable and friendly staff, the room clean and comfortable, safe, great breakfast, good value for money. Located in the center of the city. Greek breakfast menu, excellent WIFI in the room, next to the subway and bus stops.

    « Tourist friendly, but... »

Pythagorian is a 3-star property (or so it is advertised) located close to Omonia Square metro station. If you travel by the metro, it is easy to reach places of interest like the Acropolis or the historical neighborhood of Plaka which is full of nice bars and excellent restaurants. We stayed 4 nights at the hotel. The rooms are small and very basic and lack amenities like in-room tea/coffee maker. The bathrooms are equally small. But I guess, for the price you pay, it is value for money. The counter staff was extremely helpful and friendly, whether in suggesting a nearby place to eat or arranging an early morning taxi to the airport. This is an OK hotel if you are spending the whole day out sightseeing and using the room only to sleep!

    « Pleasantly surprised »

The location in a big city dictates the environment this hotel has and is out of their control of the hotel, even though they try to change it. Walking down the street, you wouldn't expect much from any hotel found here, but this hotel is a gem. You get five star service and attention from every staff member at a three star price or less. It easily outshines many Best Westerns I've stayed at in the US, and equals that of other chains that claim to be top of the line.(Marriott, Hilton, Ritz-Carlton) With this facility being very clean, looking new and well maintained, the prompt, courteous staff brings this package all together. Anyone complaining about the breakfast can't look at anything new in their life. This is Greece and when in Greece, you live like a Greek, only in this case, so much better. It's complete with a variety of fresh food, vegetables, breads, cereals, spreads, jams, hot eggs, breakfast meat, and a variety of coffees. I'm sure I've missed something, but maybe I'll find it tomorrow. I couldn't give any hotel a higher rating at any price. Kudos to all those involved at the Athens, Best Western Pythagorion Hotel.

« Small rooms but great for a good night's sleep »

I didn't know what to expect, but the rooms were clean and great to get caught up on rest. Area restaurants and shopping are within walking distance. Hop on hop off bus is near by too and can get you to any of the sights. We arranged a taxi pick up from the airport for through this hotel and would highly recommend.

    « Value for money »

A no frills hotel in the middle of the city with very helpful people. We stayed for a couple of days and then went to Delphi for a day and were allowed to keep our luggage there, till we returned to stay for another two days. There was a good breakfast and on the day we left, the breakfast room was opened half an hour earlier for us as we had to catch a flight . Very nice gesture

    5
« An elegant and quiet place close to the historical centre of Athens »

For me, the hotel was a very good choice for a 7 days-stay in Athens. It is very close to the Omonia Square, with access to the public transport stations, especially the metro/ underground network. Also, there are many shops, coffee shops, paastries, small restaurants and take-away restaurants in the neighbourhood, which is helpful if you are on a limited budget. The room was large and very clean, the bed - large and comfortable. The breakfast was very good, with traditional Greek products like Feta cheese, youghurt, honey and homemade jams, but also a wide variety of teas or coffee types. The entire staff was very kind and friendly, ready to help the guests with whatever problems they had, and giving good advice about the city and the sightseeing places. It is a very well managed hotel and I really appreciated it and all the staff members.

    3
    « Not the greatest »

Typical 4 star European hotel. It's about equivalent to a Motel 6 at the nicest. Hard beds, but the room was clean. Super tiny. No where to eat around the hotel and the places that are there require cash, so make sure to get Euros!

    4
    « Very Good Choice »

This hotel is in a good location and close to the Metro. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and very nice. We only stayed there one night but I thought overall it was a very good choice of a place to stay for a night (flying out of Athens the next morning).

    « Reservation »

Reservation whit mistakes. Put us on a rong room reservation. Rooms are in first floor to old. Rooms whit bad clining. Breakfast not so good. I don't recomender to stay. For me it's a two stars hotel.

    « Athens, Great Location »

The Best western Pythagorion Hotel is a great location for visitors. Close to Omonia Square, where you have metro, city sightseeing bus. Good Bakery and shops nearby. Staff are nice, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast also good. Room is a little bit old, hair drier is actually only a hot air tube. But the best is location.

    5
    « trip to Greece »

the hotel location is great because it is in the downtown area so it is a walking distance from cafes and stores. the price is reasonable for travelers and rooms are comfortable with enough space for guests

    « Athens, great location »

The Best Western Pythagorion Hotel is a convenient location for visiting Athens. Close to Omonia Square, 300m by foot, well conected with public transport. Great value for money, rich breakfast, friendly staff. I highly recommand it for a 2-3 nights staying in Athens.

    3
    « Athens!! »

Decent location, super close to subway which was very easy to navigate. Hotel was clean. I would stay in the Plaka district next time. The Acropolis museum was great. We went there prior to going to the Acropolis which was helpful & informative.

« Get a room facing the main street! »

This hotel is a pretty average Best Western I think. We stayed there twice, just for one night a piece. First night when arriving in Greece, and one night before leaving Greece. The rooms are clean, but small. The elevator is teeeeny tiny! and super slow. We were on the 5th floor and found it was easier to just walk up and down most of the time than wait. This hotel is really well located, not far from the metro station and walking or riding distance from pretty much everything. The first room we got (2 twin beds) was overlooking the main street and it was really pretty. The second room faced the wall (queen bed). This hotel was perfect for what we needed. A clean room to sleep in on arriving from airport day and heading back to airport day. P.S. > We did take a half day and go to the local beach. The front desk arranged us a taxi driver...who took the long way. We called our own taxi on the way back and he got us back in like 1/2 the time and for $10 euros less.

    3
    « Its a Average Hotel »

Its a very basic Hotel with limited facility ,very close to omania st where going to near by place like stygama square is jut 3.5 euro that the mim taxi fare, good bakery and food available just across the street ... over all exp average

    « Regular Hotel »

+ Helpful staff . early checkin was available .water and juice on arrival. tea kettle provided on request. a little walking distance from the metro omonia station. - Cleanliness not upto the mark. old bedcovers and curtains and busy street at night so little noisy . not bad for short stays.

    5
« Convenient and value for money »

The situation of the hotel couldn't be better. It's within walking distance of Syntagma Square and the Monastiraki Market. Plaki is a short taxi ride. The front of house staff are efficient and knowledgeable.

Great staff very friendly and accommodating even had my leftovers warmed for me. we arrived early in the morning after a cruise and the room was ready by 9:30 in the morning. excellent service very clean rooms good location in downtown Athens. Would come back.

    « Great location »

Fair Price for great breakfirst and central location we had 2x3 people bedrooms and Nice balcony plus bath tub. Nice breakfirst included With fresh orange juice and Nice fruits. Only omelets but great coffee. Near Omonia sq and easy and an interesting walk to Acropolis and Plaka Area. 24 hour Security. Good luggage storage and friendly staff. Wifi perfect free and without password.

    4
    « Very central »

Very helpful reception staff. Nice breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice. Large room with sufficient storage and safe and fridge. Balcony. Close to metro stations. Clean. Air con. Quiet but central location.

    4
« Clean and Conveniently Located »

This hotel was more than adequate. While it is not luxurious it was clean and comfortable. It is located a very short walk from a "Hop on Hop off" bus stop as well as the train (subway) station. It is an easy walk to the Plaka and the Agora. While the hotel is not in the most attractive part of Athens, it was fine. I traveled with two other women and never did we feel unsafe walking together to or from our hotel, day or night. The breakfast was more than adequate and the 6 euro price was appropriate. The hotel staff was helpful in giving walking directions and arranging taxi service. We were satisfied with the accommodations.

« Good choice for centrally located hotel »

I stayed there for a couple of days. I think it is very good choice for the price you pay. The rooms are spacious and clean. The furniture do not look old. We managed to sleep well at nights. The staff is friendly. It is very close (two minute walk) to Omonoia square. Omonoia is not a good neighbourhood. Try to avoid walking in that square or in little streets around, alone at night. But the hotel is in a central street and I felt no fear while I was walking there day and night. There is no parking but we found parking space easily in one of the little streets around the hotel. Although be aware about the dactylios because this hotel is inside the dactylios (basically during most months of the year, on the weekdays till 10pm there are restrictions regarding the cars in the centre of Athens. On even days (like the 2nd, 4th, 6th etc) you can use cars that their plate number ends in an even number. And in odd days (like the 3rd, 5th etc) you can use cars that their plate number ends in an odd number.

    3
    « Could be better »

Not what one could call a beautiful hotel. Rooms are pretty spacious but do not look very modern. Bathrooms look terrible and are small but functional. No tea or coffee making facilities available. Breakfast is not fine but could be so much better. Receptionists are very nice. One afternoon gun shots were heard and police were seen running arms in hand in the streets. Did not feel very safe.

    4
    « Enjoyable stay »

We stayed at this hotel twice within a span of a week. On both occassions we found a very welcoming atmosphere. The front office staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are quite spacious and well maintained. The breakfast is included in the room rent and is very substantial.

    5
    « Ideal »

Pythagorian is located very centrally, less than a 5 minute walk to Omonia Square, and approximately 20 minutes to Monastariki Square. The area itself is not one I would recommend walking around late at night, but we had no trouble. For the best prices and a comfortable stay including breakfast, this is the place l.

    5
« Nice hotel, excellent staff »

We stayed at this hotel on the 2/7/16 the hotel is well maintained clean and comfortable, We would definitely stay here again On the night we arrived I needed information from the local hospital , the young man on the desk was very helpful he and he went out of his way to make our stay as comfortable as possible!

    5
    « Would definitely recommend »

The place is kept very tidy and rooms are clean and comfortable. Great central location and metro station very close by. 24/7 reception availability makes this hotel ideal for anyone arriving late at night.

    3
    « An average 3* hotel »

It's difficult to identify anything particularly positive or negative about this hotel. An average 3* hotel in the city. WiFi was quite OK as well as breakfast. It's 30 mins of walking to Acropolis and 10 mins to the closest metro station.

    2
« Not Recommended for Couples or Late Risers. »

To start with the good, the hotel is pretty conveniently located near public transit and is a shirt jaunt from some of the more interesting ruins. The staff is friendly enough. The breakfast isn't great, but it is reasonably priced. Nice water pressure in the showers and the air conditioner keep the room cold. Now for the bad. It is my honeymoon and the hotel staff is either unwilling or unable to find a room with a bed big enough for me to sleep together with my wife. That is 100% unacceptable. The area around the hotel feels safe enough, but it is dirty and covered with graffiti (much like Las Ramblas in Barcelona, if you are familiar). If you want a quality meal, you have to venture pretty far from the hotel. There is a church across the street whose bells toll loudly every hour starting at seven in the morning. The WiFi network is only accessible in the bathroom or the bottom couple of floors. While not located far from the attractions, there are hotels that are much closer. Ultimately, this had been a subpar place to try and spend my honeymoon and I really wouldn't recommend it.

    1
    « Old, run down »

Very old and run down hotel. A little scary. Would not recommend or stay here again. Very outdated, extremely small and cramped. Don't stay here. Go somewhere else. Not comfortable. The pictures online must be very old.

    3
« Decent place to stay »

Decent place to stay, area not recommended. Rooms worn off, breakfast pretty ok. Easy to get a taxi in front of the hotel (price appr. 5-6 euros to top attractions from the hotel), no nice restaurants close to hotel.

  • 4
    « Best Western Pythagorion »

Quick trip to Athens, full of activities, so just needed a clean place to stay, preferably with breakfast. This hotel exceeded all our expectations. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful with regard to transportation, tourism tips, safety queries.

    5
    « Great location »

Excellent location, about a 15-20 mins walk from Acropolis and main attractions. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Rooms are comfy and spacious. Mini fridge in the room with complementary water bottles. Also, complementary fresh water and cold juice at the reception. Breakfast was not included but good price (6euros) and decent food.

    4
    « Very good »

Amazing staff, the reception staff was really helpful. Very well connected, comfortable room with air conditioning and tv, although a bit noisy as you can hear guests if they are noisy. Free orange juice and water close to the main entrance which is very nice when you come back very thirsty from outside.

    4
    « Convenient comfort »

A comfortable and clean hotel in a convenient central location. Nice friendly reception, good reasonably priced breakfast and left luggage facility all pluses. Not the best area of town but touristy sights are a walk away and the metro only 300 metres.

    3
    « Basic »

Location-wise it is in the Omonia square region, I found a good restaurant in Psarron which unfortunately in the shanty town area of Athens, but that is another story. Our hotel visit was ok on the whole with 2 exceptions. The first being that when I had asked one of the Best Western staff for a recommendation of a good restaurant, the quality of the restaurant really disappointing for a mixed grill. The second being there were other guests making a disturbance at 12 at night. Overall I can't complain regarding the value for money, and there is free air conditioning in the room. The good: The rooms are clean and you get a acceptable shower. The bed is basic but ok for a day or 2 to sleep without worries. Free wi fi in the room is quite good in this hotel. Secondly there is a computer and printer in the reception lobby area. The bad. The room views are not good. The breakfast offering needs some improvement. I did have some orange juice freshly squeezed via a machine, though nothing freshly cooked, just some omelette pieces and small sausages. Can't really justify paying 6 euros a person for breakfast, but in this part of Athens there is little alternative.

    5
    « Excelent people »

A friendly hotel, well located, with efficient and polite staff. large, clean and with all the expectations met room. A full breakfast and very good. Viagei with my husband and daughter. We were treated with efficiency and care.

    3
    « Clean, spacious »

Stayed here the night before catching flight homein morning. Rooms were spacious & clean. Fridge & safe available. Hairdryer in bathroom was very weak. Breakfast available but for added fee (6Euro). Location not as nice as closer to the Plaka. Could walk to Monastiraki area but stuck to main roads as some of the surrounding areas were a bit sketchy.

    4
« Stayed just one night »

    Location not so central as would have liked for touristy spots. Lovely helpful staff. Room clean and had everything needed. Breakfast was an extra and very nice. Expedia said airport shuttle service available on request; I requested by contacting the property by e-mail as did my travel agent; no response. Phoned hotel direct only to be told no service available and was given another phone number to call. In the end spent forty euro each way for transportation to and from the hotel which, I thought, expensive. Felt a little uneasy walking to the left of the hotel at night especially if took a wrong turn down a side street; was more comfortable sticking to the main roads. ;

    3
« only for one night »

Stayed here overnight before trip out of Athens. Little concern for safety in area made me glad it was only for one night. Wanted to go out into the more happening districts for dining and the front desk advised us not to walk but to take the subway. We ended up walking but certainly chose the wider streets as they seemed safer. There was an armed guard out front when we returned later that evening. Perhaps he was there for the protest which came up the street in the early morning hours. Not sure. Staff was pleasant and room was clean. Hairdryer a little weak. Was glad had stayed down near the Plaka district for early stay in Athens on this trip though.

    4
« Good home base in Athens »

We stayed here a total of 4 nights during our 10 night visit to Greece which included Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. Accommodations are basic and clean. Breakfast is served for 6 euro at the pleasant dining area on the H floor. Coffee is complementary though. The location is convenient with the metro stop about a block away on the same street. Be careful at the metro which is known for pick pocketing; my husband had his smart phone stolen while using the metro, which can be packed. Location is also very close to the Acropolis and neighboring neighborhoods with lots of food and shopping options. You can walk there in about 30 minutes or take the metro if you are not keen on walking. The metro ticket is good for the day and at less than 4 euro, a very good value for easy transportation. The staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. This is a good basic hotel , conveniently located near transportation and attractions, making it a good home base during your stay in Athens .

« 1st Visit to Europe and Athens, Greece »

This was my sons and I first trip to Europe and Athens, Greece. The Best Western Pythagorion Hotel was the first hotel we stayed in on our vacation. The staff was very nice and were always willing to help. Nicolas gave us information about where to go and talked to my sons (17 & 11 years old) about Greek culture and history! The directions and assistance he gave was invaluable to us as we navigated the streets and metro of Athens for the first time. Giorgos was also a big help. He arrange a taxi to the port to catch the sea jet to our next destination and he also called our next hotel to arrange for us to be picked up! We stayed in other hotels during the trip in Mykonos and Santorini, but I have to say the Pythagorion was the best.

    3
« Average, but the location makes up for it all! »

The room is nice (504) looking over the street, not noisy as I feared, and with a nice view. The bed is way to soft for my liking and seems a bit short (I am 1.8m or 5"11). The ac and the hot water works very well. The guys in the reception are nice and helpful. The breakfast is so so, but you can squeeze fresh OJ and we bought pastrami and cheese and strawberries, which made quite a difference. The bread, yoghurt and coffee is good. The location close to good restaurants and the Omonia Station is excellent. You can walk to Syntagma Sq. in less than 20 minutes without walking too fast. Wifi sucks most of the time.

    3
    « Family Trip »

We went to Athens Greece on a family trip and stayed four nights at the Best Western Pythagorion Hotel. The hotel was reasonably priced, included a nice traditional European breakfast, including fresh squeezed orange juice, (if not purchased with your package,is available for 6€), clean and centrally located near Omonia square. The staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. It was about a 10 minute walk from the central market, 20 -25 minutes to the Monastraki Square, And the entrance to the Agora Square and historical sites. Taxis were readily available outside the hotel front door. The room was spacious for a European hotel, beds were relatively comfortable and AC worked. The hairdryer was provided, but really a weird wand type thingy,so my hair left a little to be desired, but it still beat dragging one along me during traveling. The elevator was very small and accommodated only two people w luggage,so two trips were needed and that was a little slow. The downsides were: at night, the neighborhood was a little sketchy, and walking made us feel a little uneasy. We were totally fine, so maybe it was just us. Overall it was a relatively nice place, I would equate it to any Best Western in the US. The cost was very reasonable(60€ /night) so I really can't complain too loudly.

    4
    « Good central hotel »

Nothing fancy about the Pythagorion but very clean and welcoming. It is reasonably central so very convenient for seeing the sights. Very similar to Best Westerns elsewhere but you know what to expect so this didn't disappoint. Very reasonably priced too.

    4
« Clean and friendly staff »

Only stayed for one day on our way to the islands and one day on the way back. It's a no frills hotel but everything is clean and spacious. It doesn't feel too old and all the appliances worked - air conditioning, TV,mini fridge. Breakfast is extra but a very nice spread. Best of all, the staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. It's also located very close to the metro station. I would recommend. However, don't expect any kind of view in Athens.

    3
    « Centally Located »

Room was basic for 3 people. It was walking distance (about 20 min) from most of the sites you would want to see which is beneficial during a strike. The restaurant recommendations from them leave a lot to be desired.

    4
« Good value hotel with friendly staff »

The location of the hotel suited our needs for my conference - more affordable than the conference hotel, and just a few minutes walk through easy, main streets. The staff was friendly and knowledgable when asked about where, what, and how of things we needed...we did not need much, but they were ready when asked. Breakfast was very good (the women taking care of breakfasts were very nice) - something for everyone, plus a fresh orange juicer! We would stay there again...maybe not on the 7th floor as the lift was busy a lot (no problem for my husband who was counting his steps for exercise)...but i was in no hurry.

    5
« Excellent hotel and location »

Wonderful hotel with all the basics. Clean, free-wifi, and safe. The front desk was helpful in arranging taxis, and there was free printing (like for boarding passes) in the lobby. When we wanted a late night wine, they had some of that too! The location is perfect. Safe but not teeming with tourists. About a mile walk to the Acropolis. Very close to the metro and good eats, though for just getting around to the museum, market, and Acropolis, I recommend a nice walk if you are able. Easy to get to and safe to walk around. There is a super market off of Omonia square. Taxi ride to airport costs around 40 euros, the metro is 9 euros per person. It is a 30 min drive, a little longer in metro.

    4
    « great location »

This is not exactly in the heart of the shopping square, but it is so close to the Metro and easy walking to great restaurant! Really a perfect location near Omania square. The staff is most helpful with maps, computer access and knowledge! Rooms are very clean, comfortable, spacious but not luxurious. But we spent so little time in the room...Breakfast is available for reasonable price, but we were on the go and picked up food and coffee at corner shop, of which there are MANY. Nice lobby area with seating and tables. Sixth floor room was very quiet. you cannot go wrong staying here.

    4
    « Budget friendly ideal »

Couldn't ask for a better location, a short and very walkable distance to the metro with access to the two most popular lines in the city. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. You are paying for a reasonably priced room with convenient access to the great city of Athens. If you are looking for luxury, find another option. The morning "American" breakfast offered is reasonably priced and has decent variety. The walls are quite thin and you likely will hear your neighbor, this is manageable but you may want to be prepared for this. The rooms do not have a view and are very basic, all my needs were satisfactorily met so I have no complaints. Would recommend for the budget friendly traveller.

  • 4
« Great hotel and location »

The hotel is close to everything and they have a very friendly staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We only had the breakfast one day but it was good and well priced. Would definitely stay again! And they have free wifi!

    5
    « All OK »

Stayed for three nights. and all was OK. Service, cleanliness, value, rooms. Near to Omonia square, you feel safe and you can everywhere you want. The price was very reasonable and I recommend it to everyone who want to travel in Athens.

    5
« Excellent hotel reasonably priced in central location »

Staff were welcoming and friendly from check in to departure. Very knowledgeable about locality and modes of transport. Rooms were clean and comfortable with en suite bath and shower Breakfast buffet was generous and reasonably priced. Hotel easy to reach from Omonia station and within close range of other key Athens locations.

« Bathroon needs to be refurbised »

The room is ok, maybe oldfashioned, but correct for sleeping and clean at least. The safe box is just over the fridge, so if you leave something inside take into account the heat of the fridge motor. The worst of all is the bathroom, very old. It has no bath, only a shower. I don´t care about that as I never take bathes, but the problem is that it has a curtain instead of a screen, and I really don´t like that as it´s useless to keep the water inside the shower and as it moves towards you, at the end you have to put it away and don´t use it. I didn´t have any breakfast so can´t say anything. The lobby is not big, but enough to seat there and wait for others. A funny thing: the elevator has two different notices: in one it says the maximun capacity is 3 persons and on the other one it says 6. Regarding the internet access, another place in which they have it for free but you have to sign in using a Facebook account or giving your email address. It´s annoying this... I was given a room that had an splendid view to inside part of the building :-(, so I had to keep the curtains close all the time.

    « Nice hotel »

Everything was very good, staf, room, breakfast, location... It was our first travel to athens and we stayed for 4 nights in this hotel, and i can say that we will come back to this hotel in the next trip to athens..

« Nice hotel and very nice staff! »

Nice hotel, excellent location. Staff was very friendly and they will guide you with what to visit and all info. We are vegetarian so I was suggested very nice local restaurant just round the corner. All good. No much options for vegetarian in breakfast but it was OK! I had booked double room but I was given twin room, the room was situated in such a position that next room's bathroom pipe was making a lot of noise all night, we couldnt sleep at all! However, I got the double room next day and that room was quiet hence 5 star!! :) The jasmine trees outside the hotel smells amazing! In short - recommended!

« Good price for a short stay; hotel not renovated »

The price was good for a short city break but the hotel is not renovated. no carpets in the rooms, bad light in the bathroom, fridge & air conditioning was broken and very thin walls. I could hear the people talking in other rooms and could not sleep too good. The hotel is very close to the metro station and the service was nice. Wireless signal & breakfast was ok.

« very helpful staff specially at the reception »

Location was very convenient to Omonia metro station and all other cafes and restaurants breakfast is also available but as we wanted to try out Greek food we had meals from outside .Please take european plug outlets as that was the only thing missing

    3
« Good position but noisy »

We slept there 2 nights. The hotel is well situated, as the metro is very close + you can join the city center in 10min walk. We didn't find the area dangerous at all, just popular. The rooms were clean. The negative point is that you can hear everything from others rooms.

    « Convenient, helpful staff »

Convenient location, value for money, walking distance from 2 metro stations, helpful staff. Stayed for two nights on a business trip. Wi-fi was excelent. Not much to do at night in the area around the hotel.

    « veeeery bad »

It's location is good but very bad behaviour. Also the receptions except one of them. the AC wasn't work and it doesn't important for them. The OMONIO quarter is danger but is near Syntagma.by walk15min and by metro 2satation.but really recommended don't go this hotel in this street is many hotels that I go and is better than thsi

    « 4 days visit »

Excellent location on the main street, next to the metro railway, the square and shops. In 5 minutes you are in Monastiraki. Sometimes an odor comes from the bathroom while we are out but not always. Friendly and helpful staff. Do recommend this hotel!

    « Best for a short trip »

Staff very friendly and open to any problem. Breakfast according Best Western standards, good and varied. Rooms facing the street have generous balconies and beautiful view. The hotel is located between two metro stations Omonia and METAXOYRGEIOY at 300 m from each. If you have luggages or are tired you are best to get off at Omonia and descend directly to the hotel. From METAXOYRGEIOY you have to cross a crowded market and climb to the hotel. I arrived at the hotel after 23 pm and there was no problem, the area is clean and lighted. As in any European capital in a central square, at late hours there are "strange" people. From here you can walk to all the top attractions of Athens in 30 minutes or less, or if you are more comfortable, the best way is to take metro, and the airport tourist ticket for 3 days at 22 euros is ideal for a weekend.

    5
    « Great hospitality & location »

The hotel is well located. 300 meters from Omonia Square (metro station). 20 minutes' walk from Syntagma Square and Monastiraki. The hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, large size room (bathroom a bit smaller), good working wifi, big, comfortable bed. The only drawback of the hotel, and exactly rooms on the street side, is noise from the street around the clock. Especially loud are motocycles. But you can get used to it.

    4
    « Decent »

Nice hotel in decent neighborhood. Close to metro and easy to find. Surrounded by alot of restaurants and local shops. Much is accessible by walking. On a busy road but so is almost all of athens. Quiet at night good balcony and comfortable beds

    4
    « Comfortable »

The hotel was comfortable though somewhat tight quarters. The hotel staff was prompt and responsive. House keeping did a great job. There was a third bed in the room which was really uncomfortable which I wouldn't think would be a good experience if we had a third person. Overall a great experience. The area of the hotel wasn't lovely but very close to Omonia Square and in walking distance from the Gazi District.

« A "Grand Tour" with our grandchild »

A clean, light room, enough for three people, using it just for sleeping. Well done every day. Early and enough breakfast. Kind and forecoming reception. Near to Omonia Square with Metro and buses. We are very pleased.

« Staying at best western pythagorion »

I visit Athens last week And I was lucky to stay in one of the most beautiful hotels near omonoia square We stayed at the first floor in a very big cozy and spacious clean room With very clean and tidy linen and a good size bathroom The room was for smokers and it didn't have any smells of that The manager was very kind and the housekeeping as well I'm defitenely gonna visit again It worth all the money Plus it's cheap! Five stars!!

    3
    « One Night Stay »

Basic hotel, nothing suprising. Rooms were clean and there was enough space. I can recommend this hotel for night or two. It was quite easy to find the hotel from the metro station (we came from Piraues). Small kiosk / magazine stand front of the hotel, easy to buy some drinks and snacks :)

« Soundproofing leaves a lot to be desired »

on arrival desk clerk was very helpful and coulden't be more kind and helpful and allocated us our room 307 . On arrival we checked it out and were initially very pleased with it . Room has a window which faces out onto a derelict building but believe it or not this suited us as the alternative was to look out onto the front onto a street which is manic with traffic morning noon and night . Twin room which had a third bed in it too also a small refridgerator another bonus and air -con for which they give you the doo dah to operate it as you arrive and a safe too . Breakfast too was very nice with Continental or hot which was egg omelette and small frankfurter sausages or a hard boiled egg option too . Walls paper thin though with just a Plaster wall where you could hear your neighbour talking without effort and one "Guest" who put on something at 0530 in the morrning which sounded like a "Drill" but I suspect was actually a coffee grinder and they were making a brew then again at 0615 again they did this again which affects us through the wall and to the left and right and up and below them - I did report this to the Desk but dont know if it is acted upon or not . Rooms immaculate in cleanlieness Only thing that rankled us but if you are getting woken up is a lack of sleep . Another small thing is the tap in the toilet which when put on runs back as well as down and results in the water dripping onto the floor everytime you put the tap on - again I told the desk about this and I think that he already knew about this. Price very reasonable and I think that as it is on a noisy busy road . Metro at top of the road which serves everywhere is nearby in the Square

    3
    « It was ok »

We asked for 1 double bed, we received two single beds, we stayed for 3 nights, very uncomfortable for a couple. The room needed renovation, there was a lot of mold in the bathroom, parts of the fridge furniture was broken etc. Breakfast is not satisfying at all, very simple, lacked basic things, in general expensive for what it offers.

    5
    « Very good choice »

Very good choice. The hotel is on a main street in omonia only 2 minutes away from metro station. Staff is very helpful, rooms are clean. I had a room on the back site without view but it was really very quiet. The only negative thing was that there was only one elevator.

    4
    « Good location »

The room and bath were small, but clean. We had a balcony from which we could see the Acropolis, which was an unexpected pleasure. It was close to the bus and metro stops, but within walking distance of most of the sites in the city. The staff was very helpful.

    5
    « excellent overall choice »

hotel has good location, good helpful staff and clean facilities. always ready to help and make the stay memorable. Very close to the Omonia metro station and the commercial center of Athens and within walking distance of the Acropolis and Monastiraki areas. good restaurants located around the area and good meeting bars and cafes.

    « Friendly staff but... »

The staff of the hotel was friendly specially in the front desk ,Nicolas. The hotel is good for being a 3 star hotel. Except that the wifi signal in every part of the hotel is poor , i got online once during my 3 night stay. Moreover, you can hear people's conversation in the other rooms as if you were with them which is annoying if you wanna have some rest during the morning. The rooms were clean and neat. Beds are comfortable.

    5
« Very helpful and friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms »

We loved the hotel because as soon as we arrived we were welcomed by the smiley Nicolas who helped us especially on how to move around the city,he kindly explained us the central parts and places to be visited on the map by giving some sound suggestions. The hotel staff in general was very approachable. The hotel is nicely positioned so most of the places to be visited are at a walking distance. It is very close to the Omonia metro station from which you can travel to many places to be visited such as Acropolis Museum,Kerameikos, Monastiraki square (where you can find nice places to have lunch or dinner) Pireus where you can see the port. I feel the need to especially underline one point related to the Omonia square's being dangerous etc. On internet we had read some comments talking about how dangerous the area was etc, ,but honestly we had no problems even while we were on our way back to the hotel towards midnight .We also enjoyed the street view at night.

« Clean, near metro station, tasty breakfast and very friendly staff »

We are very happy with Pythagorion, staff was very helpful, fresh and good breakfast, rooms were clean, bed was comfortable - and good price. If we return to Athens (for sure we do!) we will choose this hotel once again.

« Budget option in central location »

The hotel is a five minute walk from Omonia Square, which makes it very convenient in terms of getting around and exploring the city. Basically you get what you pay for. The rooms are pretty small and the bathroom is tiny! It's not cozy at all but has everything you need - hot water, TV, cupboard space, desk, a/c which acts as heating too, a fridge, decent lighting. My room was on the top floor and had a balcony which was quite nice - ask for one of these if you can. Breakfast in the mornings was exactly the same thing every single day which got quite dull at times but again for the price, can't really complain. It was a nice touch that there was a machine for you to be able to make your own freshly squeezed orange juice. And Greek jams are delicious, they had a whole selection of them. The staff were really helpful and friendly in terms of giving tips about Athens and arranging a cab to the airport. There's no restaurant in this hotel (apart from breakfast time) so be prepared to eat all dinners out (i.e. no room service either). Good wifi that was free was a plus as I stayed in the hotel for 10 days on a work trip.

    2
« Nothing Special but did the job! »

Our room was designated no smoking but it smelt of cigarette smoke. The hotel was well equipped with TV, free wifi that worked (but at the same time offering a faster better wifi against a charge) I would sum this hotel up as nothing special but it did the job, we were looking for a non expensive hotel for a short night and thats what we got.

Location is near the city center and accessibile to all public transportation.the room is clean and the staffs are very hospitable.i will surely reccomend to my friends.in the lobby there is two computer where you can use to check in online and print your boarding pass free of charge with unlimited orange juice!!!

« Budget hotel with decent location »

Hotel looks old, but clean, although the bedding should be renewed. Rooms are small. Walk to central areas takes 20 minutes, walk to subway just 5 minutes. I read online after I booked the hotel that the location was "not good." It was certainly not "upscale", but I found nothing wrong, with choices of cafés and good bakeries nearby. Hotel website said free breakfast, but when we got there reception told me breakfast was €6 per person/day. (I booked it through Priceline/booking.com)

    3
    « Decent budget option »

I spent 3 nights at this Hotel in December 2015. This is a typical budget travel option in a good location, only 5 minutes walk from the subway station and 15-20 minutes walk from the Agora and Plaka. This is an older hotel but the room was clean and in good repair. The room was small and there was only one small window but good artificial lighting. It was equipped with an electronic safe and small refrigerator. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk of the hotel. My room rate did not include the breakfast, but I paid the 6 Euros for the breakfast on two mornings and felt it was almost a fair price for what was available. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable of the local area. The Free wifi worked good. My only complaint would be that the shower was postage stamp size, and the shower curtain rather unwieldy making showering a challenge. Other than that, this is a decent budget option.

« excellent breakfast and service »

The hotel is in the center the room very clean and warm nice balcony reception is always there to help you. Absolutely recommended for any occasion. The hotel is near buses and metro you can go by foot for shopping and is very quite area.

    « Clean and central »

It is a typical Best Western Hotel. Nice and kind staff. Clean rooms. Central location, just 2 minutes walk from Omonia metro station (one Metro stop to go to monastiraki which is the Athens Center). Metro tickets are really cheap (€1), or you can walk from the hotel to monastiraki about 8-10 minutes. There is a kiosk outside the hotel. There are also various bakeries by the corner of the street to find delecious sandwiches and coffee. The bath has nice water pressure. On the other hand, the hotel does not provide any luxury. Its is the best cheap solution if you are searching for a central/clean place to sleep. The beds are not soft enough. There is a smell in the bathroom. I had a room on the 3rd floor and the WIFI was poor. There is no soundproof in the room

« Great hotel for price paid »

I am happy to add one star to my review as I secured the hotel for a ridiculously competitive price. The hotel is centrally located close to Omonia metro station, on metro lines 1 and 2, and just two stops from the parliament and three stops from the Acropolis. Other reviewers have commented on the area, yes it is a little drab but at no point did I feel unsafe walking from the metro to the hotel after sunset. The room itself was perfectly acceptable if a little perfunctory. The hot water pressure was excellent and there were a decent sized television. Housekeeping was perfectly fine. Wi-Fi reception was generally good. The only main complaint was the rather mediocre buffet breakfast choice but again I got a great rate on the room so I'm probably being a little unfair. Staff were polite and helpful.

    4
« Good hotel for a good price »

The rooms are clean and the hotel is in the middle of Athens close to Plaka and to the metrostation Omonia. The staff is friendly. The breakfast is ok, not more. If you plan to do sightseeing then the breakfast is a good start in the hotel. It is a buffet with veggies, cereals, bread, coffee, eggs, cheese, ham, fresh juices etc. The elevator is really slow. It is on street with traffic but the rooms are quite. It is a cheap hotel and offers a good service for its price.

    4
    « I recommend it. »

Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast whether continental or american/english was very complete and well served. They offered a safe and a fridge at my room and both worked impeccably. So did the A/C.

    4
    « Pretty Good »

The Hotel location was pretty close to a metro stop. It was pretty easy to find. Inside the hotel was nice. The bathroom was a little old, but not too bad. The breakfast was ok. Not the best Greece Continental breakfast, very typical american style Continental. Check the website about if it's really complementary. There was contradictory information on the website in Oct.2015. The breakfast is not worth the 6 euros.

« Tired hotel in an OK location »

Positives: - Great location - 5 minute walk to Omonia (Metro connections and nice coffee shops/bakeries) - Good price - Clean - Free Wifi - Friendly front desk staff - Breakfast is ok -nothing special but does the job Not so positives: - Free Wifi - while offered as free, it is virtually unusable at peak times - Decor of rooms is tired and in need of a revamp (shower head was hanging off and fixed with some electrical tape) - Bathroom had no ventilation at all (I believe some rooms have a bathroom with an external window) - Back rooms looking out to yard can be very noisy at the weekend - on the Sunday evening a bar was blasting out live music until late - Lift is very, very, very slow and only has capacity for 3 people - not so great if you are on one of the higher floors and have difficulty walking Generally a great budget no frills hotel - I would definitely return.

« A very good hotel in a city centre »

Hotel is in a good location (between Omonia and Metaxourgio metro stations). There are some restaurants, shops, coffee shops around. There is a desk, TV satellite, phone, minibar, bathroom, wardrobe, sofa, big bed, chair in a room. I did have a room number 602 with a balcony on a six floor with a nice view of Athens. Breakfast is served on a H floor with choice of cold meats, cheeses, salads, cereals, toasts, all hot and cold drinks etc. The reception service was very good as well. I do recommend this hotel.

    2
« Why does nybody think this is good? »

I do not think i have written a bad review before... OK, so it is close to the Metro, but my Greek colleagues warned me not to walk down the hill or behind the hotel as they think it is a dangerous area. and it is Cheap. Booked on booking.com it said:- "In-room equipped includes stocked minibar". NO "Guests of the hotel Pythagorion are offered free welcome drink, while orange juice is free throughout their stay." NO - staff (asked twice at different times) say the welcome drink is the Orange juice. WOW thanks! it also says there is a bar - which is a fridge with a few overpriced drinks in. The guy on reception suggested going over the road to another hotel! or the kiosk right outside sells better beer at a fraction of the price. The a/c is on or off, no settings and not particularly good The showed is in the bath and highest setting was by my mouth. The decor of the bathroom is aged The breakfast was simple, not a lot on offer, but staff were nice The room smelled of lemon disinfectant and the balcony doors were open when I arrived, presumably to help remove a smell Reception is dark and small The landing, 5th Floor, smelled of breakfast in the mornings Pillows were bumpy Front of hotel, despite being on 5th Floor of rooms, was still noisy WiFi is slow so, I won't be going back there then - see my other reviews on Athens hotels.

    3
« Alright location, near tube and walking distance from city centre »

It was alright. The shower could do with proper door rather than too long curtain. The breakfast was nothing special. Overall, I would say it was not very BEST Western ;) The staff was friendly and there were computer and a printer available for the guests, if you need to print a boarding pass. The lift was so slow. The area a little run down.

    4
« Very good hotel for a short stay!!! »

very good hotel for short stay and close to everything and very helpful staff. The rooms were clean but it definitely could be better for the money he deserved our stay. Breakfast not tried it but it was descending for someone who wants to eat at the hotel.

    4
    « Friendly reception »

Although we didn't get to the hotel until 1am the reception was excellent with drinks provided. Our room on the 6th floor was clean and comfortable and there was hot water for the shower in the morning and evening. Breakfast had a fair selection. The wifi signal was weak on our floor. We walked to the acropolis through the market area in a leisurely 30 minutes and to the main square and shopping streets in thee same time. The metro station Omonia is a few minutes walk with good connections to the acropolis and square. Omonia is not the smartest area of the city but it has character and at no time did we feel threatened.

« Good location, fine if you just need a good bed. »

I have issues sleeping well in hotels. Mainly because of crappy beds, followed by heat and noise. Well, the beds are a pleasure! Luckily we were here after the hot summer, because the airco only has a ON/OFF button and hardly does anything. Although the hotel is on a big road, the closed windows block the noise well since I slept very well. Location is good, walking distance from 2 metro stations, and many bars and restaurants nearby. The lobby must be the most depressing ever.... Nobody there. But hey, we need a bed. The showers are small, old and badly maintained. For me, being 1.9 meter, all was very small. As said, if you need decent beds on a good location this will do.

    3
« Room nice, friendly staff, good breakfast but very small bathroom »

We stayed two nights there. At first we got a room that smelled really badly. We asked for another one which was perfectly fine. The bathroom, and especially the shower were really small. Especially annoying was the shower curtain using which implied two possibilities - putting it inside the shower basin and getting to touch it all the time or putting it outside and making a puddle in the bathroom. The staff was quite frienedly and the breakfast pretty good too, especially the fresh orange juice you could make yourself. However, the free wifi was really poor. All in all a rather good stay. The neighbourhood does not seem to be the best, we did not have any problems with that however.

    4
« Comfortable hotel in a poor setting »

The hotel was comfortable with good size rooms with very good spacious bathrooms (unlike the Best Western Museum which had tiny showers). Breakfast was ok, the selection on had was good but lacking fresh fruit and the coffee machine was frankly terrible. The biggest downside is the neighbourhood is quite dodgy especially late at night - recommend taking a tax if returning after 11:00 PM. The hotel itself is secure however. Wifi very poor in my room.
