    « Great »

We really enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is very clean. Right around the corner there is a market where you can do some shopping. It is very easy to go to the Central Station by bus. There is a park nearby if you want to have a walk.

    « Love staying here »

Ive stayed here couple of times. Such a great room with many features in the room, for a very cheap price. Good tv, nice bed, and even bath. I payed about 50 euros for a room, its hard to find such a room in Amsterdam. Also the room is not so small either. I Will visit again.

    « Disappointment »

We needed to first ask to change the room which we first got on the first floor which was cod and small. We got another room which was better but during this period there was a drunken man living on the same floor who banged in the middle of the night on doors and also on our door. Our sleep was totally destroyed. I called the reception for help but nobody answered. The result of the drunken mans activity we saw in the morning where he had destroyed one door. I think that the hotel, even though it was not the fault of the hotel should have, as a good gesture, given us a free dinner or something to show good service.

    2
    « Low level »

The receptionists are nice and helpful but the room was not up to a 4 star. Dated furniture, missing baseboards and then the walls were ruined. Even the location is inconvenient, 20 minutes by bus from the center. I would not recommend it.

« Tired and dated but very comfy beds! »

The hotel we had originally booked was being closed for renovations so our booking agent moved us to this hotel. The hotel is in a very handy location. Whilst not very central they were plenty of public transport links near by which take you straight into the centre (Anne Frank and Central Station) so it was no hassle at all to get around. The hotel itself is clean and tidy however the rooms were full of chunky, dark furniture which made the room feel cluttered and old fashioned. In our 1 standard double we had 2 chairs, 2 bedside tables, a large wardrobe, a large dressing table, a side table and 2 other chest of draws. The only thing we used was the wardrobe! The beds were very comfy and we had plenty of pillows. The bathroom was nice and big and the shower was lovely and powerful. Not all the plugs worked in the room and one of them was so faulty it tripped the electrics and we were sat in darkness for ages while the hotel staffed tried to re-set the fuse box. They are 2 big supermarkets next to the hotel so if you don't fancy paying €10.99 for breakfast at the hotel, you can pick up a croissant for €0.29 which we did everyday. Overall the hotel was OK. I don't think I'd stay there again, just because it was a bit dated and tired.

    « Travel »

Hotel was o.k.,nice room, clean and good enough size, but in my opinion it is too far from the centre. You need at least 30 minutes to reach the active area of the city but the public transport is near.

    « Good!! »

The hotel was easy to be found even isn t very central with a lot of transportation.Rooms were big and clean, very nice bathrooms. The two thing i did not like it it was the missing cooler(wich is very strange for a *stars hotel) and the fact that u could not open the window in any way

    « :) »

Everything was perfect. :) We liked our room, it was cosy and big. The view was wonderful (11th floor-if you are in the shower or in the bed its really nice to look outside and see the city at night, it's beautiful with the lights. Our bed was comfy and the cleaning was also great. After a long night, in the other day sleeping was magnificent, nobody disturbed us and there was no noise at all. We had coffees and tees in our room also. The reception crew was really friendly and helpful. They gave us maps and they helped with the parking also. ;) The city centre is not far away, because lots of trams and buses in the near. If somebody need a snack or get hungry, there's tons of places in the near. We will definitely go back. Perfect place, perfect stay.

« Very nice, a bit far from city centre »

Very nice, a bit far from city centre. Clean, very nice rooms good breakfast but in my opinion it is too far from the centre, it is far to reach the centre on foot and every time I had to take a taxi o bus. Very good hotel

    « Nothing special »

I was disappointed overall in this hotel. The location was grand and so was the lobby but the rest was lacking. The walls were badly scuffed and dirty and The carpet was stained. Our safe wouldn't work properly because the batteries kept falling out because there was no cover so staff kept having to come up and open it. After the fourth staff member visited we gave up and stopped using the safe. The bathroom was FREEZING. There was no heat source so showering was definitely not pleasant. The hotel is completely non smoking which is great but everyday our room smelled strongly of stale cigarettes. I mentioned this to staff twice but was told they couldn't smell it. Our keys stopped working the day before we went home so we were locked out for 45 mins. The cleaning lady did nothing but make the beds and wipe the bath. None of the bins were emptied, we left rubbish beside the bins because it wouldn't fit but it was still there when we checked out...overall, not very impressed. Beds were comfortable but not worth the money.

« Clean and reasonably priced »

I would defiantly stay at this place again ! Was clean and staff where friendly and helpful ! Didn't have alcohol in bar but I believe this is temporary I would definitely stay here again was about 10 min in to dam square

« Best western blue tower hotel »

Well what can I say, this hotel is about 15 minutes from schipol airport by taxi, it is in the northwest part of Amsterdam and within walking distance to the city although this may take up-to 1hr with a little bit of sightseeing on the way, however there are plenty of trams and buses, there is a metro card you can buy which covers metro / bus / tram and is 7.50 euros a day or cheaper if you purchase more days each day covers 24hr period as well the journey from the hotel to the city centre takes around 15-20 minutes and comfortable. Now then the hotel, it is rated 4 star and with the service we got I'd say it is about the right rating, everyone was polite and the rooms although not the best view on the lower floors are large and comfortable, the beds towels etc changed and cleaned daily, there was no noise from other holiday makers either, we only stayed as B&B so unsure what the meals were like but the breakfast was first class, all nice and hot as well as fresh, there is cereal as well as fruit all well-presented and nice to the pallet, my advice is be an early bird because if you arrive around 8.30 ? 9.00 then expect lots of people and trouble finding a seat as an early bird 07.00 ? 07.30 no issues at all. The area around the hotel appears to be predominantly of Turkish residence and there are plenty of Turkish restaurants locally as well, there is a supermarket directly below the hotel and there are shops and off licenses close by as well and if you drive to the hotel there is a car-park similar to an NCP car-park next door. The only issue with the hotel was on the first night when another couple opened our door with their key-card whilst we were in the room, this was a bit worrying and we went to the reception to clear it up and apparently the guy on reception didn't know the room had already been taken? Unsure if this was true or whether it was a scam?

« Best sex / drug pad. With close proximity to KFC. »

Was wicked. Maurice did a sick job of making sure the room was tidy. Reception were always polite regardless of sobriety or not. Only downside was we only had 1 mug and not enough tea bags. Looking forward to my next visit back!

    4
« Nice hotel, close to several tram stops, down side, it's a dry hotel! »

I stayed at this hotel with my Girlfriend on our visit to Amsterdam, we arrived at 10am and although check in wasn't until 2pm they let us check in straight away so we could freshen up and begin our sight seeing. The room we were given was a standard room but still nicer than some I've been in, in the past. It was spacious, always clean, with tea making facilities, TV and a large bathroom with fresh towels provided daily. The reception staff were really helpful and assisted us with what trams/buses we needed to get. The hotel it's self was outside of the city centre but it was right next to several bus and tram stops, on the tram it was only a 15 minute journey. There was a supermarket right next door which was always helpful. The only down side, this hotel is a dry hotel and doesn't serve alcohol.

    « Dutch stay »

Hotel in a good location for all the links to Amsterdam town center. Helpful reception staff if you require information on getting around. Room was quite large and very clean with everything you required for your stay. Hotel doesn't have an alcohol licence so soft drinks in the bar on level 1 not sure about restaurant though. Supermarket etc just around the corner and a KFC at the top of the road where you get the tram(14) into Amsterdam.

    4
« Clean, Basic and quiet »

Hotel was a 15 minutes journey on tram/bus to central with stops directly outside the hotel. The hotel had below a KFC and shop which we found very convenient. Room itself was very clean and good size.

    5
« Totally recommend this hotel »

Hotel was great, room was big, bathroom super modern and very clean. Reception desk staff very helpful also. Only stayed for 2 nights but would stay for longer and come back again. Very close to tram stops and train station only 10/15 min walk

    5
« Good experience nice hotel. Grand brakefast. Totally value for money »

All in all good always recommend. Restaurant is good , reception is full functional. Less price . Nice big clean rooms . Bathroom is very clean and good space. One thing that the location is little far from Dam central. But no problem for transport. All connected.

    3
« A column in the middle of the room »

I guess it was bad luck, but we had a column in the middle of the room, which wasn't nice at all. If we sat on the table we wouldn't be able to see if someone was on the bed or watch tv. The shower was broke and the hairdryers wouln't work for longer than a minute. The rooms were clean, but in the lifts and halls to go to the rooms there was a weird smell. Service was quite nice and breakfast was good.

    4
« Comfortable and very reasonable »

We travelled to Amsterdam and stayed in the Blue Tower. It was a comfortable hotel with a nice sized room and bathroom. The room décor was a little dated. The cost of the room was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the city. The hotel was about a 20 minute bus journey outside the city (to Central Station) and the bus and tram stop is very close to the hotel, which was very useful. We decided not to pay for breakfast in the hotel as it was expensive for our budget. Overall, we were very happy with our stay in the Blue Tower and we would stay there again.

« Great hotel not bad location »

This hotel was lovely. Room we was a little rough around the edges but they are currently updating all rooms. Staff all friendly couldn't fault it at all.very clean and tidy in all areas including the room.

    4
    « Good »

We really enjoyed our stay. Hotel room was nice and staff were friendly. Hotel was in a good location. Trams and buses are easily accessible into Amsterdam city centre. Would stay at this hotel again in future

    3
    « Comfortable stay. »

I stayed here with a friend to visit Amsterdam, our booking cancelled last minute so this was a last resort. We definitely would've wanted to be closer to the centre - although there is close tram stops (you can also get cheap travel tickets from reception) the surrounding area itself isnt the best it felt a bit dodgy. The hotel itself was very comfortable we have no complaints at all. The furniture might be a little dated but it was all clean and the rooms were good sizes. I would recommend if you don't mind travelling a little into the city it was about 15 minutes on the bus and the links were easy and regular. We didn't eat or drink here so can't comment on the food or bar!

    3
    « Disappointed »

Checked in at 6ish , looking forward to dinner and catch up with my daughter who is studying in Holland. My hubby headed down for a pint before dinner, and we followed down and met him on the way out of the restuarant. THIS HOTEL HAS NO LICENSE TO SERVE ALCOHOL. Thats incredible ,but its more incredible that we were not told on booking or checking in, so i feel ripped off, as i would have made other booking if i had known.

    3
    « Disappointing »

Arrived to catch with my daughter who is studying in Holland. Looking forward to family time . Arrived about 6ish . Booked in and to the room which was very acceptable, clean and comfortable. My Husband headed down to the restaurant on the first floor, Myself and daughter followed on, and met hubby on the way out of restaurant. This hotel has no license to serve drink. So that is how it was for the weekend looking for somewhere else to eat a have a drink and a catch up. We were not told this wen we booked or checked in. We certainly would have made other arrangements.

    « Solo trip »

Lovely clean hotel, close to city centre, bus and tram stops very close by, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, would recommend. Rooms, cosy and clean, Wi-Fi very good, will use this hotel again if visiting Amsterdam in the future.

    4
    « Large Quadruple Room »

Good sized family room. Air conditioned, quiet at night and very comfortable beds. Great transport link on tram into city centre (take 14 or 7). Breakfast consisted of a varied buffet with plenty of fresh fruit. Hotel area is not the nicest (lots of rubbish on the street outside) but then we didn't hang around as there's so much to do in central Amsterdam.

    2
    « Not as expected. »

Overall I was not very satisfied with many aspects of this hotel. The tired decor in the rooms, no alcohol and unfriendly staff. The rooms although clean enough looked very out of date and tired. The bathroom tho, looked modern in comparison. The hotel during my stay didn't have any alcohol, apparently due to licensing issues. How a hotel allows this situation to occur is beyond me! I found the staff to be rude and unhelpful. I even witnessed a heated discussion between a customer and hotel staff, I did not see this as very professional. When asking about the alcohol nobody mentioned there was a supermarket around the corner and neither does it state on any website that it is a dry hotel. Amsterdam itself was lovely and would recommend a visit. I would just avoid this hotel and quite possibly this area too.

    « Almost BEST Western »

Great Staff great lobby but the hotel rooms need a refresh. The staff could not do anymore for us they all were so nice and helpful with maps advice etc. Our room needed a bit of TLC tired wallpaper and few things that need a sparkle. It's a pricey hotel despite it bring out of town. However don't let the location out you off. The location have superb links for all travel. Getting from the airport and in to is really easy. We had three good nights here and the bed was lovely and clean. Our room was 105 and it does not have a view worth seeing as it backs in to a supermarket loading area. This was not an issue as you couldn't hear any noise it's just a bit unsightly

    4
« Clean warm and comfortable »

Easy reach to centre and cheap public transport. Room were clean even if furniture was a little tired. It was noisy with the window open as near major road. Staff on front desk were very helpful. We had a great stay.

« Enjoyable few days away »

Rooms were clean and comfortable . To be fair didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel , no bar unfortunately! Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment , Very easy to access central Amsterdam using 14 tram and 21 bus , took about 20 mins Also a nice little coffee shop called bagels and beans on the main road near the Hotel ,

    2
    « Poor »

The fact we had no electricity the first night and no explanation as to why was awful also in a rough area of amsterdam and a few of the things innthe bedroom were cracked or broken also people were allowed to play music throughout the night and party in the room next to us without being told to stop!!!

    1
    « Awful »

as soon as we walked in I knew we would not enjoy our stay as the lady on reception was extremely rude and arrogant, was not willing to help us at all! We were paying for hotel by card and the Machine was broke so we had to carry our luggage to the nearest cash machine to pay! When we finally got in the room I knew straight away I could not stay in that hotel, the room was so dark and dirty it had a bad smell! We complained and asked for our money back but they moved us to their sister hotel tulip inn which was also really bad and had mice in the corridor! Safe to say I will never Book any of the 2 hotels again!!!!

    4
« Nice clean hotel, lovely stay »

Myself and my partner stayed here December 15, Clean lovely hotel, Nice breakfast. Would recommend however hotel is further out of the centre than we expected. I believe you could get a tram however we struggled to find the correct tram therefore we had to get the bus everyday to the centre 15-20 minute bus ride. Although still lovely hotel.

    4
    « Good stay »

Stayed here for 3 nights room is quite large compared to where I've stayed before. Yes rooms do need a little up lift like change of curtains, but it was clean and spacious and we had everything we needed. The hotel is easy to get to just get directions from the hotel. Train tickets were 9euros for 2 single. And around 6euros for 2 bus tickets single. Make sure you get the entrance to the right platform for the train. Tickets are easy to obtain. We didn't eat at the hotel but there are plenty of shops and a KFC next door.

    3
    « Basic Hotel »

Hotel was in a good local and close to transport links. Really easy to get to from Amsterdam Centraal station. The room was clean but really dated. The finish of he room was basic and a little tatty. But if your just looking for somewhere to rest at the end of the day then this place is perfect. The staff are really friendly and so helpful but the hotel communal areas are in need of some attention but nothing massive.

    4
« Do not CALL from Hotel room »

Nice hotel with big and clean rooms. Located very near in A´dam centre. Rooms are not cleaned every day, if you want this you have to order it in reception. Also, there is only chinese food in the restaurant which by the way is closed on Sunday and Monday. Afortunately KFC is around the corner:)

« If you're going to Amsterdam- don't stay here »

I checked out of Blue Tower Hotel today and can honestly say I've never been so happy to leave a hotel. I wasn't expecting 5* luxury when I booked this hotel but they don't even get the basics right. I initially chose this hotel purely because there was 40% off so at only 95€ for a night it represented good value even if it was a little out of the centre, which isn't an issue for me (although to be completely honest this hotel is in a bit of a shady area, so maybe best to choose somewhere else). Please, do not even think about booking this hotel for more than €100. For hotels, all I expect is a comfortable bed and good night sleep, as I spend all of my days outside. Despite requesting a King Bed, I was provided with two doubles. Despite requesting a high floor, I was put on floor 3. The rooms themselves have many signs of wear; scratches on the walls, stains on the carpet, chips out of furniture.. Even the Do Not Disturb sign was bent and torn, I mean come on that costs maybe 10 cents to replace.. The pillows are solid, the towels are thin and frayed around the edges. My keycard stopped working when I returned during the evening, and the airconditioning was noisy and seemed to fluctuate between freezing cold and boiling hot, which woke me up twice during the night until I gave up and turned it off altogether. There was even one instance when I took the lift that one of the posters had fallen away from the wall and was lying on the floor- I think that pretty much summarises the lack of care at this property. This was my first stay at a Best Western, and although I wasn't expecting to be wowed I was very, very dissatisfied with this hotel. Avoid.

    3
« Functional hotel with good transport links »

A pleasant hotel with clean, comfortable rooms with toiletries and tea/coffee facilities. Good breakfast. Slightly off the beaten track but good transport links into the city centre. OK for a short stay e.g. two to three nights. The staff were helpful and spoke good English.

    4
« Very Clean and tidy, not quite 4 star. Bed very hard. »

Very polite staff, couldn't help more if they tried. the hotel was clean but very tired, probably not a 4 star but 3. The breakfast was ok, not the best presented but it was edible and not unpleasant.

    « Avoid. »

Old, shabby and dilapidated. Dirty rooms and various broken items in our room. Giant pillar in our room too which was odd. Far too expensive for the price we paid considering the place was a dump. KFC round the corner was delicious, wish I'd stayed there.,

    4
« Great place to stay close to Amsterdam central »

Very wecolming hotel with easy, and, close access to Amsterdam central. Nice size room with all the facilities you expect from a 4* hotel. Very comfy beds and good free internet access. Excellent breakfast.

    2
« Worn down hotel that badly need paint and maintance »

Dear manager Your need to make a proper cleaning of the room and get them up to best western standard again - go look in room 1109 in the selling ( need paint) - the heater didn't work - people has poor softdrink down the wall under the windows - stairway to 11 floor didn't get vacuum all 3 days we where there and someone did drop a lot of dirt there .....

    3
« Stayed there in october »

Some say the tower hotel is short distance from tram stop, when I booked in I could not find it until I asked in a shop were it was. I landed in central station and asked directions? not too many people knew were it was I finally got one person with help, they told me to get a number 21 bus and get off at bos en lommerplein. when you get of the bus look for K F C chicken place, then walk down the road keeping K F. C on your left hand side, at the bottom of the road take a left and you will find the hotel, Staff are very helpful but the room I had was not a 5 star, as it had a big pillar in the room ? ( just wonder if it was a store room ) before At reception if asked if want a breakfast ticket go for it, if not and you go for breakfast you have to pay 14.50 euro instead of 10 euro at reception Carpet laying was ongoing during my stay

    4
    « Very Reasonably Priced »

We stayed here in November 2015, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean, and we had no issues with noise. The hotel is about 15 minutes on the tram/ bus from central station, but very easy to find and close to the bus stop. Is good value for money.

    3
    « Spacious and clean »

Although a little out of town there is adequate transport at the end of the road (bus and tram) and walking distance to the metro station. The room was spacious and clean we had 4 beds and room to manoeuvre. We never sampled breakfast so can't comment on that. One thing that let it down was that it never had enough travel tickets when we wanted to purchase them other than that it served its purpose as a base for a busy few days in Amsterdam! Good value for money would reccomend!

    3
« Well worn, but worth the price »

I stayed in a room for pretty cheap. While the room was well worn, the staff were friendly and the local travel options were convenient. A short walk to the nearest tram line made it possible to get to the center of Amsterdam with a 20 minute ride. The hotel even sits on an easily accessible night bus route that runs after the trams shutdown for the night. My room showed signs of wear; a broken lampshade, screw holes from past light fixtures, and smudging on the walls indicate a history of heavy use, but otherwise the room seemed clean. For such an inexpensive stay, the room quality seems reasonable.

    3
    « Good value »

I've stayed at this hotel twice it doesn't disappoint its comfortable close to the trams so you can go into the center easily. I would have liked a hotel closer to the center but this hotel was great value.

    4
    « really good location »

nice clean hotel with warm welcoming staff. Lovely apt rooms and only 15 mins walk from the city centre or 5 mins on the tram. definitely would use again..maps and discount vouchers for museums and the tram available from reception.

    4
    « Week-end at Amsterdam »

Romantic week-end at Amsterdam. The hotel was nice. Good welcome, very limited food for breakfast however. Receptionist Peter was very helpful by guiding us with maps and tips about the bus and trains

  • 2
« Poor service and cleaning, good location »

    - Cleaning is really poor, we changed 3 rooms (1st wifi was not working and in the second the toilet was completely dirty!). no excuses at all from the staff, they've only changed the room. we opened a complaint on their website, service overall really poor. + close to TRAM and buses to reach the city center

    3
    « Not a four star hotel »

The hotel is very close to tram, bus and metro station. Our room was big and clean but there were a lot of old stains on the walls and on the carpet. The hallway was full of old and new door and there were construction works while we were there. The hair dryer was working poorly but at least the breakfast was good because there was a great choice of food. It's an okay hotel but definitely not four star.

    4
    « great 4 star hotel »

the hotel was a great, charming, clean 4star hotel. the location is not excellent, since it is a bit far from Dam square and center but close to Sloterdijk station which provides for easy access to the airport, nearby cities, and also other places and stations in the city. Furthermore, buses and trams are available just beside the hotel entrance. the so-called and wonderful shop Albert Heijn is just down the hotel. the rooms are so spacious and clean and pleasant for a great rest and stay. this is a Islamic hotel located in the Islamic neighborhood just mentioning this because of the avoidance of alcohol drink and cigarette smoking in the hotel, but nothing disturbing at all. the reception was so kind and helpful who I thank hugely.

    « Perfect Hotel »

Hello, I recommend this Hotel. Is like new, clean and have very confortable bed. Very good report price/quality. The housekeeping girls and gouvernant were very attentive to clean and put in order all the room. Stuff was exellent, specialy Fadi, the night front desk guy. Attentive in our requests, helpful and a very good person as well. People like him and everyone there are the people that hotel need. Unfortenly the naiberhood wasn't as we expected, but at the hotel we forgot everything. Big BRAVO for the stuff, just continue like this.

    « Dusty rooms, dirty walls-bad attitude »

This hotel "blue Tower" is shame for all Best western network! So bad disciplined staff-very slow passive and lazy, no roomservice at all, was only 1 person at the registration desc-when it was full booking- it was staying 10 people with luaggadges in a crowd! Wating when they serve spent lot of time staying there! Awful!!!! So bad!

    « Ia »

Very good hotel. located near the bus and tram station, just two min walk. Very good supermarket near the hotel . The perfect sing was that, tram was working whole night. There wasn't refrigerator in the room. except this, everything was perfect.

« Great hotel but away from the city center »

Loved the room and the view from our 7th floor room window! Would have given 5 straight but for the location. It is located away from the city center where most major attractions are. The connectivity is good though. Don't know about metro station but a tram station and bus stop is at about 2 mins walk. We specially loved the big spacious room and the triple sharing arrangement as we were traveling with our 3 yr old daughter.

    2
    « Dirty. »

Mold on the roof of the room, blankets and pillows had holes, and wifi wasn't always working. Service from the staff was great, great at explaining how to get to the city centre and how to use public transportation..

« This hotel should just be called Western »

I don't even know where to start. I was very apprehensive about staying here as I had read in the reviews that it wasn't like a best western and I could clearly see from the pictures it wasn't like a usual best western. Best western is known for its attention to detail with their rooms and staff, unfortunately this one fell short to my standards. I'l list positives first. I think check in is from 2pm. I arrived I believe just before noon. I was only expecting to leave my luggage and come back and check in later but the receptionist said there was rooms available if I would like to check in now. She didn't have to do that and me and my partner graciously accepted. The room she recommended was on the 11th floor and had a nice view of the city. Please note the lift only goes to the 10th floor and then you have to use the stairs the rest of the way, it gets tiring after a while but wasn't the end of the world. Every staff member I came into contact with was extremely helpful and polite and very well presented in their uniform. The location is ok, one bus ride from central station which takes 20-25 minutes, a KFC is located on the corner which was great and also a market and 2 supermarkets are just around the corner and they stay open until late which was very convenient. The double room was spacious, the bathroom was nice and had shampoo and soap. Good size wardrobe with enough hangers. Tv was ok. I got an iron from reception after giving a €10 deposit. Free WIFI. On arrival at the 10th floor straight away I noticed a moldy drain sort of smell. When I got to the 11th floor corridor the smell got worse. Our room door was open and there was a lady possibly some sort of manager in there looking at some ceiling stains. She advised us we could stay in this room but would have it cleaned while we went out. That was the least of my worries. There were holes in the ceiling where light bulbs should have been, the smell was worse in the bathroom and the carpet was stained I just wasn't impressed with it at all. My partner thought it was fine, he just loved the view. On the first morning after arriving a fire alarm went off about 5:30am. I was absolutely livid. Traveled all the way down stairs to be told it was a false alarm it was just someone smoking in their room. I had been told the same thing had happened the previous night. I felt this was unacceptable and there was no apology or any acknowledgement from the management, it was left up to the receptionist to deal with all of the disgruntled guests. On the first morning we were presented with a lovely buffet breakfast, a great selection to choose from, couldn't fault a thing. Second day came down for breakfast and there was literally nothing. They had the lady who usually works on the reception working in the restaurant and I spoke with her asking where is all the food, she apologised saying she was working alone and also she was not used to working in the restaurant. I had to eat continental in the end because there was nothing hot until we was about to leave, very disappointing. After the first night I also noticed 2 bed bugs in the bed and one walking in the bathroom, that just sealed the deal for me, I couldn't stay here again after seeing that. This hotel has great potential but some money needs to be spent fixing up things and buying new furniture.

    « HIGH RECOMMEND »

VERT CLEAN, GREAT LOCATION & GREAT STAFF, EXCELLENT BREAKFAST CHOICE! Location really good, TRAM OR BUS to the city Centre. Close to some attractions and a walk to others, The room was very clean and modern and also the bed was extremely comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful, also allowed us to leave luggage after checking out so that we could get away and enjoy the city without baggage as we had a late flight home. I can not say enough about this Hotel its fantastic, location perfect, staff very helpful, spotless, we were on the 9th floor, our room was very spacious overlooking the rooftops and canal. The interior of the hotel is stunning, I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

    « Staff uncooperative »

I stayed 3 nights in September. The hotel is in a good position to reach the city center, about 25 minutes with public transport. the hotel needs some renovation and curtains and window glasses need some more cleaning. The reception staff was not very efficient and kind. I asked for information about reaching airport (due to maintenance on the railway, trains didn't work), but nobody helped me. I had to take the luggage by myself from the luggace storage.

    « Quite Disappointing »

Poor receptionist service: at the counter, they expect you to move where they are standing instead of the contrary. No smiles at all. In the hall a sense of carelessness. The Best Western in Perugia, Italy, we had a totally different (positive) experience. And that was one of the reason we decided to choose this hotel in Amsterdam. For two consecutive days a false fire alarm woke up at 6 am and 8 am, causing us to leave the room, gather in the hall etc.

    2
    « Cheap price & Feeling »

The hotels furniture and appliances are outdated, and they have problems with fire alarm, which turns on every morning and wake you up. The receptionists don't care about that and haven't payed any attention. I don't recommend staying there.

    « Good one »

The hotel is very clean and good but the furniture is getting old and it's in very quiet place you have two supermarkets very close about 2 min walking and bunch of restaurants around all about 3 - 6 min but eventually it is a good experience

    « Good Budget Hotel »

Very clean and neat rooms. Good welcome and helpful staff and awell connected by transport - bus etc. Near the Bus and Train terminal. Breakfast was just ordinary not much of choice. Rooms overlooking the front are ok as you have a view of the park. Overall a decent hotel for a night's stay.

« Enjoyable stay at the Blue Tower hotel »

Room was very comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful. Had a problem with the lock on the door to the first room they gave me but they quickly assigned another room which was very neat and clean and the lock worked fine. Location is outside the main city centre but close to tram and bus routes to get around town.

    3
    « panorama »

very good view fro the room . great panorama - good breakfast - kind reception - good transport with bus no 21 - the district was a bit poor, but ok. It was good to have two gyms nearby. The lobby was a little bit retro style from the seventies. I can not write much more

    « too expensive »

The Best Western Blue Tower Hotel is located in the outskirts of Amsterdam. The surroundings are not so nice, hardly any restaurant or bar near the hotel. Quite a dead area in the evening. The hotel lies directly on the highway. There is no mini-bar, tea and instant coffee is not refilled daily (just once upon arrival) and the bikes to rent from the hotel are double as expensive as in a rent-a-bike shop. Breakfast is not worth 10 euro. All in all, the hotel is much too expensive for what it offers. It was a disappointment.

    5
« Away from centre but I was impressed! »

We walked to the hotel from the centre which was about 4 miles. I was pleasantly surprised by everything about this hotel. Extremely clean, great rooms. We were in a 3 bed room on the 10th floor and the view across the city was incredible. The reception staff were very informative and booked a taxi for me to the airport at 7am. They also helped us out with tram and bus times. Accessible by Tram and bus and also has some restaurants and shops in the immediate area. Recommended if you are driving or don;t mind travelling into the city centre.

    5
« Good option for someone traveling by car »

Great location with close by cafe, supermarkets, parking. We used tram 14 to get to/from downtown (around 15-20 min ride). It was convenient to leave a car in a parking garage (12 euro a day) and travel by tram. Hotel was clean and convenient.

« Got off to a rough start but ended well »

WIFI didn't work in our room and it took a while for the staff to believe us, they couldn't change our room til the morning but gave us a complimentary breakfast to compensate. The shower door in the first room didn't stop the water so the floor got wet. WE had a room that had a big pole by the bed. Second room had good wifi and better shower but same big beam in the room.

    3
    « No bar »

We arranged a weekend trip for 18 adults age from 40 to 65 after a confusion transfer we needed a drink. Asked where the bar was as it is advertised we were told no bar !!! False info I think. Notebook nothing special clean OK if you only want a base.

« An hotel with no beer »

Nice room, hotel being refurbished. Location 30-35minutes to Amsterdam on bus or tram. Continental breakfast , good. Only downside for us, was, that it did not have a bar which sold alcoholic drinks, this I found was a disadvantage especially if you have been out all day. Wanting to go back and have a meal, and finding only soft drinks available. Our room was on the back of the hotel , looking on to flats. This hotel near a ring road.

    5
    « City Break - Dam Nights »

Clean and a well manner hotel which was situated right on the outskirts of the city incase you wanted to be away from the tourist attraction. Access to the local tram which was a 10mins ride into the city.

    1
    « Bad service »

They have a bad service. No one has cleaned the room. There was a problem with the keys at the first day. Also the bathroom in our room was not working. And many other things. I don't think they deserve a 4 stars ranking.

    5
    « Good Hotel »

Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. They checked us in at 7 AM. Good breakfast and surrounded by all the needed restaurants and supermarkets. Close to the city center 15 mins using the Tram or the bus. The hotel few minutes away from the Tram station. We loved our stay.

    3
    « Not a great location »

Visited during summer of 2015 Very far from main attraction but close to public transportation. Shady characters roam around the hotel at night. Two grocery stores close by. Attendants were not very friendly. didnt try the breakfast but was relatively expensive. Rooms were okay. Wifi was slow and kept losing connection. It is a budget hotel good for business but not for vacation.

    « Short Business trip. »

Short and memorable stay. Excellent ambience, very helpful staff, wonderful service and value for money. I got a very big room with a splash of luxury. Metro station also close by for quick connections (7 minutes walk)

« Good location no alcohol »

Really good location rooms ok breakfast nice good choice but no alcohol in hotel would have been nice to have a drink and a chill. All shops around have a alcohol licence so why not this hotel in view of this wouldn't stay again

« Perfect. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay again. »

Reception staff was very helpful she guided me well about the transport and markets near by. As a solo traveller, I recommend this property. Breakfast was awesome. Sufficient toiletries in bathroom. Free Locker facility makes it an awesome deal.close to trams and bus stop.

« Hotel looking very tired in dire need of a makeover! »

Hotel was adequate for a short stay but needs some money spending on it, our room on the 10th floor was not the best and the location of the hotel isn't ideal but is manageable with the excellent tram and bus service.

    4
    « Very nice hotel »

Nice hotel, have just room & restaurant, the stuff helps us for all questions, tips, how to get away with transportation to all over the city and airport. They have service to hire a bicycle per day, and it's take 15 minutes to the city center.

    4
    « A perfect short-day »

I booked this hotel through Booking.com and everything went perfectly fine. I picked a room with double-bed and asked if it was possible to check in before 2pm as we were getting to Amsterdam earlier and wanted to leave our bags to visit the city freely. They gave us a room, around 11am, which was at the 11th floor with a very nice view, but the elevator brought us till the 10th floor; it wasn't a big deal though since we didn't have many bags. The room was clean and pretty big. The receptionists were very nice and available at all times of the day; ask them how to reach the city center and you'll be just fine - 20 minutes by tram/bus.

    5
« Excellent hotel within easy reach of the city centre »

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights at the end of August. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast buffet was very good and had a nice selection including lots of fresh fruit. The hotel is in a quiet suburb and is within easy reach of the city centre by bus or tram.

    4
    « I would recommend this hotel! »

The room is great! Comfortable, clean, and luxurious! You definitely get what you pay for! Room service is on point as well as customer service. We had many questions about transportation and they did their best to accommodate us. That definitely made our traveling much easier. Thumbs up!

« Excellent room. Terrible breakfast. »

We visited Amsterdam in early September 2016 and chose the Blue Tower because the room prices were much lower than in Centrum (the town centre) but it was only a 100 yard walk to trams to Dam Square (14) and the station (21). The trams are frequent, comfortable and fast and not too expensive. They catered well for my wife's wheelchair too. Also parking in the adjacent Q Park was only 12 euros for 24 hours compared with centrum parking at 50 euros for 24 hours. We chose an executive room which was only slightly dearer than the standard rooms but was excellent. They failed to get a 5 star rating for 2 reasons:- 1) We paid in advance for the breakfast as it was 30% cheaper. However, the food was abysmal. Fruit was poor quality and cooked breakfast had been standing in the buffet bar for far too long so was hard and discoloured. It was so bad that we decided not to eat breakfast at the hotel for our second morning even though we had already paid for it. I complained but was not offered any refund. If we had just changed our mind, we would not have expected a refund, but this was not the case. 2) Much less important, but on our last morning we asked reception what bus we needed to visit Anne Frank's house. They confirmed it was the 14 but failed to point out that you cannot visit Anne Frank's house before 15:30 unless you booked in advance on the internet. So we bought two bus tickets at 25 euros and could not get into the house. A bit more thought by the receptionist and she could have warned us before we wasted the bus fare. However, even given these issues we would still thoroughy recommend the Blue Tower executive rooms (without breakfast) for your time in Amsterdam.

    « Comfortable hotel along the A10-ringroad »

Modern hotel along the Amsterdam ringroad A10. P+R (park&ride) facilities next to the hotel. Good connections to the City center with bus or tram. Convenient room has boiler for coffee or tea. No mini-bar to keep fresh drinks.

    « Worth a stay »

Stayed here for 4 nights in early September , didn't spend much time in the hotel as I was out early - public transport is excellent with trams train and bus stops within 1/2 minutes walk from hotel , no issues with our room bed was super comfy had a great sleep every night will stay again on next visit :)

    « Nettel »

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in, Staff members were rude & unhelpful. This is meant to be a 4* hotel, not a chance! It's dirty and the rooms are shabby. The location appears to be in a rough side street which you would not want to be walking in at night. It is also advertised as close to the centre but would take at least an hour to walk there. I certainly won't be staying at a Best Western hotel again after this.

    4
    « Good rooms »

I have checked in the hotel today evening. I booked it online with 53% off. Best value deal for the amount paid. Wifi available. Easy to go to city area and easy food always available at the near by restaurants.

    4
« Nice and very comfortable hotel »

Interior is a little old fashioned but very clean. Good beds, everything you expect to be in a hotel room is available (except for a fridge). Breakfast for 10 € was very good, large choice. We rented bikes, very good quality. Noise of TV from the neighbor room could be heard through the wall till 2 am

    3
    « Family trip »

Average room very dated , quite pricy . Hand prints on wall and damp in bathroom , and lights pulled out of the ceiling . Very quite and beds comfy that's about it , and room seemed clean . Restaurant looked very pricy and not much on menu , overall a clean average hotel .

« Nice hotel with comfortable rooms »

A really nice hotel which although not in the centre, is within walking distance (around 30 - 40 minutes). We spent three nights here and overall we were very satisfied. The staff were friendly and very efficient - I reported a problem with the shower and within 15 minutes it had been repaired. The room was very spacious and comfortable but was looking worn and ready for refurbishing. The walls and furniture were very scuffed. The hotel was clean and the corridors and public areas appear to have been renovated recently. Hopefully the rooms will be done in the near future. Breakfast was very good and it was nice to be able to make a hot drink in the room. We would happily stay there again.

    3
« Bit out of the way »

Stayed for 2 nights after being transferred here after originally booked hotel closed for renovation, so probably wouldn't have booked here if given choice. Hotel itself is fine - staff friendly and room clean etc. Parking available in adjacent car park [ directly reachable from door in foyer - never seen that before ] for 12 euro per day. Just a bit out of the way, all sights etc a good bit away and hotel is off a main road in suburbs. For price paid [which didn't inc. breakfast] i think u can get better hotel in a better location for same kind of money.

    4
    « Nice hotel »

Lovely hotel staff were friendly and helpful and advice on how to navigate to the main parts of Amsterdam were given clearly. Clean hotel breakfast wasn't to my liking and let it down a little but we had a fantastic stay

    3
« Average for a couple of days stay »

We stayed here in March 2016. It is roughly a 20 to 30 minute walk to the centre of Amsterdam. It was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Other than that I can't really comment other than to say it was fine for a short stay.

    5
« very good hotel in good location on the outskirts »

We chose this hotel as wanted to be away from the city centre at night time due to having young children. We were advised at Central Station which tram to get which was number 14 from Dam square and it took 15 minutes to reach our hotel. We didn't mind this as it was our choice to stay out of the city centre. We enjoyed taking in the views of canals enroute. Friendly , helpful check - in desk. Super room for a family of 4 with very comfortable beds , and was impressed with the abundance of small amenities in the room. We didn't eat at the hotel as we bought breakfast goods from the supermarket 2 mins walk from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for families with its location away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

    5
    « Very good hotel »

the hotel was very nice ,We was stay there 3 nights its very clean room, every day room servis, comfortable beds the staff very friendly..location was good..only littelbit we have problem with wifi, for sure i will come back.

« Nice hotel, poor location »

The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly, but unfortunately for our circumstances the hotels location wasn't suitable, taxis home every night was an extra cost that we could have done without, if you were to be home at a decent time then the trams/buses were very easy to catch once used to the system

    2
    « Better another choice »

While taking a shower we got burned cause every 3 seconds you get super hot water and then cold and terrible hot again. Room is small ant the hotel its a bit old and far away from the hot spots. The receptionist was seemed that he dint want to work there either.

    3
« Thought it was better »

I have been in Best Western Hotels before and this one doesn't reflect their standard levels. A bit disappointing because the price is equally high. Not too far from the city centre though and the romm was clean. Easy to get public transports.

    3
    « I thought it was better »

I have stayed in Best Western Hotels before and this one doesn't seem to be at the same level of the others, although the prices are the same. The room was clean and well connected with the city centre.

    2
« The place of the Hotel is good not noisy snd it's far from the center. Their food is very good! »

I stayed with 2 other friends in 3 bed room. The room is dirty, the wall has many stains and the toillette door didn't close. We had to pay the room by check in which I thought the payment happen by checking out. The staff wasn't friendly!

    3
    « Warmest hotel ever »

Nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was great. Rooms were adequate, bathrooms great and bedroom well air conditioned. However, once you leave your room, the rest of the hotel is extremely humid!! Almost too much to be honest. Hotel reception sells tickets to excellent excursions, the Hop on hop off (boat and bus) tour is highly recommended at €25 pp. Shuttle bus seems overpriced judging by other reviews.. We did an uber at €20 or there's plenty of transport links (tram 14 or 7 in easy walking distance) for €2.90 for 1 hour. Also, not best pleased that it was a dry hotel... New legislation apparently... Saved us a fortune, I'm sure.. But booze is a necessary addition to any Brits holiday!!! Hope this helps!

    4
    « Holiday »

The Hotel very comportable there is public transport at the end of St. Train station round the corner. There many restaurant to buy food nearby there small groceries big groceries open until 10 pm. The hotel is 20 minutes by bus to Amsterdam Central. The hotel 20 minutes to airport. The reception very friendly. The buffet breakfast was good.

    2
    « Seriously? »

This place is nowhere near a 4 star hotel. The rooms are old and the furniture is outdated with scratches and marks everywhere, and the same goes for the walls. There is no refrigerator (but the reception offers to keep your drinks downstairs for you..) and the wifi has very poor signal in the room. The location is just fine, not in the best neighborhood (no bars, nothing to do after 9) but still only 15min by tram to the city centre. I was expecting a 4 star hotel, I barely got 2 and ½ and at high price.

    4
    « Brilliant stay »

Upon arrival the staff were great and very helpful. When we got up to our rooms we seen that they were quite outdated and needed a refurb but we're really spacious and beds were very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location with 2 supermarkets and places to eat about a 2 minute walk away. Also a 2 minute walk away where trams into the city centre which were always on time and very frequent. The only negative about the location was how far away from the city centre it was. There was also no option to take the stairs and elevators had to be used to reach all floors. We stayed in room 915 which i would highly recommend and had a lovely panoramic view of the Amsterdam you don't get to see. Overall, I would 100% stay here again.

    3
    « Modern/traditional »

From the outside the Blue Tower looks very modern, but inside it's all dark mahogany and rather dated. However, everything in the room was very functional and very comfortable. Although it's not in the bustling centre of Amsterdam, it's easy to get into town, and there are places to eat and drink within easy walking distance.

    « Very satisfied »

This is a very reliable and reasonably priced hotel. For our trip to Amsterdam, we had planned to book something on arrival. However, unknowingly it was the day of Europride 2016 and most hotels within our price range had been snatched up! After a moment of uncertainty, we found Best Western advertising available rooms on booking.com. It was situated a little out of the center but as we had a car, and they had a car park next door, it looked perfect. The receptionists were very helpful and soon we found ourselves in a spacious two person room with a big bathroom, lots of clean towels and all the nice extra things like shower gel and shampoo. The room was air-conditioned and spotless. We were extremely happy with our find and slept like babies in the comfy beds. We paid an extra 10€ for breakfast which was definitely worth it. Buffet galore! Mueslis, fruit, meat, cheeses, cooked breakfast, continental breakfast, lots of good coffee and much more. All in all this was a very satisfying stay.

« Monuments, museum, channels cruise, flower market etc. »

Good room but, too many pieces of furniture ! Very good TV with broadcasts in different languages ... Very nice and helpfully staff at the desk. A lot of public transport in the area (e.g.: No.7 and No.14 trams to the City Center, Museums, markets etc). We experienced some difficulties with Wi-fi in the daytime ( in the room) ...

    « Visit »

It's a nice hotel to stay. Nice and helping staff. Quick in check in. Rooms nicely made. Good outside scenery from the room. Nearby markets are cheaper than other places. As we were to stay only at night we don't use morning facilities.

    « Great »

Visited for four days with my boyfriend although outside city centre it's only a 20 minute bus/tram ride out hidden behind a market. Stayed in slotmeer twice and much prefer it away from the hustle and bustle of the main centre. Hotel is nice when you walk in large and open just like the pictures. I asked for a room on the 9th floor although not a nice view as not much to see at this end of the town apart from buildings and of the market but that didn't bother us. The bathroom was modern and lovely apart from you could see someone had knocked the hand rail off in the bath and they have stuck it back on but that's just being petty also smoke alarms and lights were hanging off the ceiling again being petty didn't really bother me. Enjoyed the bath and all the extras were topped up everyday like soap, shampoo etc. Maid service everyday who would clean the bed and change towels. The wifi was great we were able to watch Netflix on nights we stayed in on our fire stick and also had some English channels like bbc and mtv. The room itself has really old dated furniture and could do with an upgrade to some modern furniture as looks very dull. However bed comfy, clean, and staff very friendly!

    « Wonderful hotel »

Arrived home today having spent five nights here. I requested room 1007 it met all expectations , a big corner room, very clean and plenty of room for all three of us plus a wheelchair that the hotel arranged for me . The breakfast was adequate , the poor staff run off their feet but always had smiles on their faces and very welcoming. We had a brilliant break and will return .

« Great hôtel on the outskirts of Amsterdam! »

We stayed for à total of three nights and we found this hôtel to be quite nice and calm. The room size is ok and eventhough it is situated on the outskirts of Amsterdam, the public transport was very easily-accessed! We highly recommend it!

    3
« This is no hotel with 4 Stars! »

No minibar, dirty walls and a to high price of 130€ without breakfast. I had also a demage of the wardrobe and a bloody hurt and infromed the staff, but got no excuses and benefit! No usefull map of the gouverment transportation, there is a lot of "room for improvement"!

very nice hotel, good location, vibrant neighbourhood, excellent and healthy breakfast, Close to the amazing Westerpark and shops and busline to city-center. « Slightly out of city centre but easy enough to travel from »

Hotel was clean and twin room was spacious enough. Staff were polite and helpful. Good transport links into the city centre. Travel passes available to buy at reception which was very useful. Supermarkets and eateries within walking distance, particularly 'bos en lobster' which was absolutely fantastic for dinner!

« Great hotels for families »

We attended with our 2 girls who are 11 and 9. The room was spacious and the staff very friendly. You do need to pay 12 euro to park. The great thing is that it is out of the city but very close. About a 10 minute tram ride to most attractions. And the best part is that there is a grocery store beside the hotel to grab water and snacks for the day.

    4
« Great Base for an exploratory trip »

Currently staying at this hotel and it's great value for money. Entrance is perhaps a little more impressive than the rooms which are comfortable but perhaps a little tired. Breakfast is good value for money and all of the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Would visit again.

    4
« confortable room, hotel near cheap parking and near the tram »

The beds were very confortable, the room spacious and breakfast was very good, 10€ if you pay in advanced. You can buy the tram tickets in the reception. There is a parking car next to the hotel for 12€ for day. It can be dangerous driving in Amsterdam because of the bicicles, the tram and all the people.

    4
« Our 3rd stay at this hotel »

Our room , which had a double bed was very comfortable, clean and quiet. The close vicinity to public transportation is the main reason we stayed at this hotel. It only takes 15 to 20 minutes by bus or tram to reach the centre of the city and only five minutes to reach the nearby Sloterdijk railway station. It only takes 15 minutes to travel by train to Schiphol Airport from the Sloterdijk railway station. The only disappointment was that no alcoholic beverages are available in the hotel including the Saffron restaurant.

I would definitely stay here again given the price and comfort of the room; the spaciousness and cleanliness. Though the hotel is about 18 min tram or bus ride; the tram and bus stops are barely 3 min away offering more than 3 lines to key tourist destinations in Amsterdam. Moreover, the staff at the reception was polite and helpful which is not common in Europe hotel industry.

AC was not working..maintenance fixed it on the next day..I was not happy with that because my kids could not sleep the whole night Nobody apologized for what happened and no action was taken by the hotel

« Rude staff, bad neighborhood, good rooms »

The hotel is located in a not very nice neighborhood, if you are traveling with family or alone be aware that the surroundings of the hotel are not the best. It is quite far from the center, but there is public transportation available. Also, most businesses in the area (restaurants, including large fast food American chains DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS), which is quite strange. The hotel is large and the rooms are quite ample. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are also nice. The biggest problem with the hotel is the staff. I have never seen such rude, unhelpful and disrespectful people working in the tourism business. At the front desk they were completely discourteous with guests that requested any type of information about how to get to the center or an indication of a good restaurant in the area. One of them even rolled her eyes at me!!! I was quite shocked! The restaurant is also quite an experience! On the first day, we had payed or breakfast previously, and the hostess stopped my husband literally accusing him of being there without having paid. This was clearly their mistake and they solved it, however they didn't apologize and they were just plain disrespectful! At another moment one of the waiters reprehended me because I was making sandwiches for my kids to take with me! Really??? On a buffet breakfast??? He was terribly impolite and it was quite scene! Also I really didn't understand why he came at me, since there were other people leaving the restaurant with plates full of fruit and bread (quite normal on a buffet breakfast). I can only imagine it was because I was traveling with kids and THIS IS NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY HOTEL! What a shame! The hotel is good but it seems to be extremely poorly managed!

« The Blue Tower Hotel in Amsterdam »

A bargain in Amsterdam. Bedrooms are extremely comfortable and provide enjoyable territorial views. The bus and tram lines are within 1 1/2 blocks away which take you to the best of Amsterdam. Good parking lot. Very helpful and pleasant staff.

    « Reasonable place to stay .... »

Our party of three spent three nights at the BW Blue Tower. This hotel is located in the Bos en Lommer neighbourhood, which is some distance from the town. So, do not expect the big sights on your doorstep! We chose the place in part based on its distance from the airport and partly to be near the Hertz facility on Overtoom, where we had to pick up a car. Price, of course was important! It is an ethnically mixed area which gives it a somewhat exotic air and a greater variety of quick eating places (not necessarily fast food), but we did not see real restaurants. On the other hand, we saw most of the neighbourhood from the bus and did not explore it on foot. The triple room was furnished with three real beds, but this took away space for a sofa. However, there is a full desk, with storage space and so that we could spread out our things. There is adequate closet space. The furnishings look a bit dated (chipped in places, etc.), but everything was clean and comfortable. The bathroom is quite spacious and up to date. Towels and refreshments were set out for three persons when we checked in. The staff is very efficient and helpful and provided us with detailed maps and information on the use of the public transit system to visit the city centre. They also sell passes at the desk, making it easy to get on the transit system without having to hassle to change, etc. to buy the passes -- just use your credit card at the desk. Bicycle rentals are also available at the hotel. The bus stop is just around the corner and one can get direct buses to most of the attractions. We found that our 3 day pass could take us everywhere we needed to go without any trouble. There is a bar and a Asian fusion type bistro that seems to serve light fare, but there are alternatives outside -- Dutch and Turkish cafes. They tend to close early -- eating at the city centre is a good idea because of wider and deeper choices. There is a grocery store round the corner too, but the room we had lacked a fridge. All in all, a very reasonable stay and recommended if you do not mind having everything at your doorstep. Transport to the "hot" areas is quick and easy. The place is quiet and neat and serves a mixed clientele -- quite a few students, older people ... and families.

« Perfect hotel for those who want to stay only to sleep in clean and comfortable space. »

We really enjoyed our staying at best western blue tower hotel. It's perfect hotel for those who want to stay only to sleep in clean and comfortable space. The neighborhood despite some comments we've seen before travelling seemed really safe and quiet. The hotel was comfortable and very clean. Staff was helpful and nice. Things to improve: sheets and curtains with some holes because of too much use. Decor a bit outdated but fine. Breakfast was unfortunately not included but there were a supermarkets nearby if you need to get something to eat quickly. For a room without breakfast the price of the room was a bit too high,

    « No housekeeping »

Hotel is situated about 20 minutes from city center with public transportation. Room was clean and nice, but on the second day I hung out the "please make room" sign at 8 o'clock in the morning, but when I returned at 17:00 no-one had serviced the room - when I notified the front desk they just made an excuse that they where very busy and had not had time to do it :(

« Best Hotel for the Price »

I absolutely LOVED this place. We had a room on the 8th floor which had a spectacular view of the area. Really close to the 21 bus stop which will take you straight into the canal ring. We did not have any food at the hotel as it was rather expensive. But there are a bunch of affordable falafel type places just up the road. There is also an Albert Hein on the same block. The staff were really lovely. The wifi worked perfectly and their TV channels were in English. It is about a 10 min bus ride to the city but in a really nice quaint area. I really really loved it.

« Clean, friendly and affordable »

If you're thinking of coming to Amsterdam but like a nice quiet night sleep, this is the place to go. The hotel staff were more than happy to help every time we we asked a typical tourist question and even helped us with the tram! We didn't eat there in the evening but had breakfast every morning and you will be accommodated to whatever your needs or requirements are. Because of this great experience we will be coming back on a yearly basis.

« Great value for money. »

Having stayed at Best Western hotels before, we knew to expect high standards - and we weren't disappointed. The room was very well prepared, and from the dizzy heights of the 11th floor, the views far-ranging: of course, remember that this isn't a city-centre hotel, so the views were not picturesque! Still, the sunsets were fascinating. The room had plenty of storage space, not always the case. There were two chairs and a small table, again very useful. The beds were firm but comfortable, and the bathroom beautifully fitted out - it looked as if it had just been refitted. The one niggle with the room was that the aircon didn't function, and it was hot while we were there. Still, a fan was supplied and a different room offered - we decided to stay in our lofty perch, however, as the lack of aircon didn't prove to be a major problem. Breakfast is recommended - a good choice of fruit, juices, hot and cold items and drinks. This was, unusually, served from 6.30 until either 10.30 or 11, so equally suitable for early leavers and idle layabouts! (Tip - book breakfast in advance, as it's much more economical than deciding to buy it at the last minute.) The hotel is part of a 60s-built development, which includes an open market and a good selection of shops: there are three good-sized local supermarkets within 2-3 minutes walk, plus a KFC (Should you be desperate...) and an ATM. The bus and tram stop is a 2-minute walk, tram no. 14 taking you to the centre in about 15 minutes, every 10 minutes. You'll need a local travelcard if you stay here, covering buses, trams and the Metro, but you'd need that to get around anyway - despite what everyone says about being able to walk everywhere in Amsterdam, there's more to it then you might think - and, those ruddy millions of cyclists are a perpetual hazard, so use the trams and you'll come off best in any altercation! From Schiphol, it's easy to get to the hotel - another advantage. Simply take the frequent train service to Sloterdijk (journey time - 11 minutes), which is about a 20-minute walk away - but, it'd be easier to get the No 15 bus from Sloterdijk terminal to the tram/bus stop previously mentioned. (Roughly 5 minutes.) Easy! So, overall, we had a great time here and would recommend it thoroughly: friendly, helpful staff, everything spotless and a great breakfast - what more would you expect at the reasonable rates the Blue Tower charges?

    « *****Super hotel***** »

Stayed at this hotel with my 2 sisters, I work in a 5* holiday park and could not fault this hotel one bit. The hotel lobby was clean and modern with 3 lifts and sofas to sit on (our favourite spot for wifi and people watching) staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was super with lots of different choices. Our room was cleaned every day with fresh towels put out, our cleaner Michal was very friendly and helpful. Our beds were comfy and the bathroom was lovely with a view from the top floor. The hotel had everything for us so we only needed to take hand luggage so there was no waiting about at the airport for suitcases. About 20 minutes on bus/tram to dam square. I would 100% stay at this hotel again and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet base camp after a busy day in the centre of Amsterdam. :-)

« Great stay in Amsterdam! »

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights from 20th - 23rd June 2016 and found it to be fantastic for the price I paid (a very good price at that!). Breakfast each day was included, and you could choose from hot or continental. In my opinion there were no issues here - lots of choice and enough for everyone. I had no issues with Hotel staff at all - they were all brilliant and very polite and friendly, especially when I telephoned in a panic when I was lost after being given the wrong directions at Schipol! Nothing was too much for them and they made us feel welcome. The room was clean and tidy when I arrived, and the hotel provided free WiFi. Daily housekeeping was done and to a very high standard! The hotel itself was very clean. We were able to check in early due to there being a room ready - if there isn't and you want to explore the city they can hold your luggage for you without charge! They provide a bike rental service, and you can also rent an iron etc if you need to. When I got to Schipol airport (after getting your luggage etc) you come out to a train station area where you buy tickets - do not follow their instructions on how to get to the hotel - they are wrong (I ended up lost in the middle of Amsterdam!)! You need to get the train to Amsterdam Sloterdijk station then bus number 15 which will take you to Bos En Lommerplein. When you get to the hotel afterwards you can take the direct number 21 bus or 14 tram to Centraal station/ city centre and back again if your are going out. The 21 bus runs quite late. If you're there for 3+ days I recommend getting a travel pass - I got a 72hr travel pass for €25. You have to scan these each time you enter and exit a bus/tram/train and tram stop and train station. Also, if you have a very early flight like I did the best way to get to the airport from the hotel is taxi - it costs approx. €40 and the hotel can book it the day before. All in all I really liked this hotel and will definitely stay again! I can't remember the names of the staff but there were some very good ones, including the housekeeping and the young lads who worked the night shifts on reception.

« Good hotel, not expensive but still high standard »

We just visited Amsterdam and stayed 4 nights in the hotel. Very friendly staff and they know how to speak English well. Rooms clean and equipped with necessary things. Good wifi coverage too. Hotel not in the Centre so it's good to be away from the chaos found at the Centre after a long day. Still not far only 15 mins by tram. We chose this hotel because we visited other cities and needed it to be near train station. It is only 1 tram stop away to Sloterdijk train station which takes you anywhere. We also booked breakfast on arrival for 10pp. Very reasonable a good selection of cereals, coffees, English breakfast, variety of bread and fruit. Worth the price considering the price you have to pay for a coffee and snack in the Centre. I would recommend this hotel.

« Good and helpfull staff »

Stayed at this hotel in a room of 3 a few weeks ago with friends. Room was well equiped and clean with a turn down service everyday. Bathroom was mostly clean however there was mould on the blinds which was slightly dissappointing as everything else about the room was spotless. Reception staff were helpful and helped us wirh any queries we had. We had breakfast on our last morning, there was a large choice of continental items available and a fair amount of hot items, all of which were of good quality. The location of this hotel while far away from the city centre is not a problem as regular trams run from a stop 3 minutes away from the hotel straight into the city centre for a very reasonable price.

« A great place to stay when exploring Amsterdam! »

Just a quick walk away from the tram platform, grocery store right next door, excellent turkish pizza in a shopping plaza nearby, a very quiet room, good wifi, friendly staff. Only downside was the bed was ridiculously stiff. Otherwise I had an excellent stay, and the staff was nice enough to let me camp the lobby for about 3 hours before I headed to the airport.

    « Great »

Very clean rooms, me & 3 friends shared a quadruple room. We went as a school trip so we were not just in our own room. Bathroom was a decent size and mirror was an amazing size especially for 4 of us sharing and needing to do makeup etc, the beds were very comfortable to sleep in and I would definitely stay again :)

    « Shabby but adequate »

It's a bit rough around the edges but the staff were pleasant & the beds comfortable. Great location - 15 minutes from the airport in a taxi (€40-ish) & about the same from the centre of town on the 14 tram. Fairly quiet area with plenty of cafés & supermarkets if you're self-catering

« Remember to ask to use the microwave! »

A large multi-floor hotel. Rooms are large and have great views with all the facilities you would expect from a Best Western. But the furniture is dated and bulky and restricts movement in the room. The main disappointment was the breakfast. All the hot food - bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, beans was almost stone cold. Other items very uninteresting. Staff there look bored and were unfriendly. A great disappointment having visited Best Westerns in the UK and Germany.

« Great value for the money »

The hotel is spacious, updated, and clean. It is about 12 minute taxi ride from the airport what goes for about 40 euros. The tram line just behind the hotel will get you to central station in about 15min. The only concern we had is the direct environment the hotel in. It is located in the Muslim district of Amsterdam and I have to admit that it was messy. Trash on the streets everywhere, the hotel is facing a parking lot that is very dirty too. Not a place where you wanna go for a walk unless it's necessary.

« Decent hotel in my budget »

I stayed this hotel on last week of June 2016. The hotel is nice and place is very convenient to reach any parts of the city. Many retailers and brands are available in nearest place of the hotel. Only one think I don't like about this hotel is their receptionist's attitude. Their male receptionists are more cordial and professional than their female receptionists.

    4
    « Lovely »

Stayed here mid June. Lovely hotel, clean and well kept. To get to Dam Square you take a tram which is round the corner, opposite to KFC. We brought a 72hour ticket which cost 17Euros each. Don't get a taxi from the airport to hotel! Fell for it and ended up paying 50Euros! you can get a train to central station and then a tram to the hotel, the traim tickets covered a bus to the airport when we left. There is also a free safe to use in every room, which we found very useful as we didn't want to carry our passports around with us. Any questions you have ask at reception, they were happy enough to help.

    « It was nice »

We decided to use public transport to get to the hotel from the airport. It was really easy by a short train ride and the 2 stops on the bus to this hotel. Hotel doesn't look much from the outside but it was clean and staff were helpful enough. I had a room on the 10 floor over looking the motorway and even though the view was not spectacular, the higher the room the nicer it feels. even though it was a fair distance away from the town centre, the tram links were very convenient. There are plenty of supermarkets in the area which are really good. There is a market everyday behind the hotel which would be nice if it was self catering. Some convenient chains around like KFC and some Dutch ones. The Turkish restaurant in the corner behind the tram stop is also a good option for food. Furniture in the room was dated but clean. Bathroom was excellent. Only complaint I had was the lack of a fridge. All in all a nice stay at hotel A travel card is the most convenient. They are a bit costly but which city has cheap travel in Europe ?

    « Bad service »

We arrived at the hotel at about 19:30h and as we had dinner reservations, and we were late, we left the luggage of the 28 guests in your storage room. We came back at about 23:45 and when we went to get the luggage to take it to the rooms the recepcionist didn´t and wasn´t able to open the door to the storage room. His only answer was sorry. What is worse is that some of the 28 guests needed their medicine being the worst case a diabetic that needed his insulin shot. After arguing with the only person available someone from another hotel arrived at 01:30 AM and was able to open the door. After all this we got the keys to the rooms, and half of us had to come back because the room keys were not correctly programed, and in one of the rooms There wasn´t any toilet paper and the recepcionists solution was to give him a box of tissues half empty. No one called us to say sorry or give us ANY explication. The waitress at the breakfast was unfriendly, uncooperative and an attitude that made us think we where lucky she was there and that maybe we would get breakfast. After that we left the hotel and as it was raining we asked for umbrellas. We had to leave a 10 euro deposit which we did. When we came back the recepcionist said he didn't have the money to give us back for the deposit. After all this we asked for a complaint sheet, and we were informed it wasn´t available , that you don't have and that we should send an email to the manager. Is this a four star service? Needless to say this is the worst stay I´ve had and of course we will never consider using your hotel chain. And on top of this the lack of communication and unresponsiveness of the executive branch of the hotel is worrying.

    « It was okay! »

The hotel was okay. It's fairly far out, and took a while to get into the centre of town. But the staff were nice enough, and the room was great. Not sure i'd call it a 4 star hotel though. Wasn't exactly what we were expecting for the price we paid, but pleasant enough.

    « Family Holiday »

As I had already stayed here in February, I already had a love for this hotel, I came again 15-17 of June for a stag do. The staff was friendly upon arrival and was greeted by a receptionist I remember was working there the last time. I asked if there was any rooms available on the 10th floor as the room I had the last time 1010 was a reasonable size and the view was nice the floor was also quiet, which was perfect for me living in busy london. The Receptionist ever so kindly gave us room 1007. What an amazing room, it was spacious and having three beds, we only needed 2. The bathroom was to die for, with window all the way around it and you could see the sun rise/set, such an amazing view, just sitting in the bath or havin a shower or beeing on the loo and seeing such a beautiful place for as far as your eyes can see. I could not thank the receptionist enough for giving us that room. I dont think I would stay in an other room now that I have been in this one. The room also comes with a kettle and teas/herbal tea/sugar and milk, only downfall is no fridge to put your own stuff in and for the size of the room there is plenty space to do so. The beds are lovely to sleep in, large tv to watch a variety of channels, wifi in the room as well, the furniture could be more up to date however was in very good condition, When booking for this hotel we decided to have the breakfast option, which I thought was nice with the differecnt fruits, salads, breads that you could toast, cheeses, fruit juices, tea, coffees ect ect. However I wasnt too keen on the hot stuff, such as the bacon wasnt done too well had loads of fat on it, the beans had to much sauce, the eggs looked and tasted like powder eggs. Would have been better if there was more of a variety and better quality on the hot food. The area is totally safe, had no problems in going out and smoking in the middle of the night. Plenty of shops, restaurants, tanning shops, markets near by, it was like being home,Travelling to the Central is easy you can catch 21 or 7 and get there in 15-20 mins. If you want to get to Dam Square you can catch the 14 Tram. There is also a night bus 752 which you can catch by Amsterdam Central Station to take you back to this hotel. I would advise to get a travel card for the days you stay from when you arrive as it saves you so much on travel. This travel card will take you all over Amsterdam. There is also I beach which I would advise you to get to in the summer months with bars and clubs you can find easily. However you may find you have spend a little more on travel as the beach could be little outside of Amsterdam. I would recommened this hotel and stay again, espcially to get room 1007, hopefully there would be fridge in there next time and the food would be of slight better quality. staff are outstandingly exceptional everytime I have stayed here.

    « A trip to Amsterdam »

Nice staff and good room. Very noisy, we could hear everything outside and in the hallway. Location could be better. Breakfast was not that good, and the staff was very noisy when cleaning tabels and taking the plates to a open kitchen where they staked the plates with much noise. Otherwise fine hotel.

    4
    « A reasonable experience »

When we drew up outside this hotel my heart sank. For a four star hotel it had the look of a youth hostel. The entranceway was less than pleasing to the eye with a carpet stuck with bits of chewing gum and littered with cigarette ends (which remained there for the four days) and looked as though it had never seen a vacuum cleaner. The interior was more promising and the receptionists were helpful (except the rather flamboyant male we got lumbered with one night who asked in a diva-ish squeal, 'Where?' when we asked for a taxi to a particular restaurant and dramatically rolled his eyes when I said it was advertised on the hotel website. He went through the pretence of ordering us a taxi which, of course, never arrived and put us off asking reception to order transport for us again). The room we were in, 515, was large and airy, the bathroom was a good size but with burns on and in the bath and someone had covered the smoke alarm with a plastic shower cap, which we took off. Everything was clean, however and the chambermaid, Eva, seemed to be there from dawn until dusk, working her socks off. My husband thought that the tinted glass in the bathroom meant we could see out but others could not see in, however, that turned out, we later realised, not to be the case, so sorry to anyone in the flats opposite who got a fright :-) There were adequate places for putting clothes, we had tea and coffee making facilities, which reception was happy to top up if requested and a large television in the room but no fridge. We opted to have breakfast in the hotel each day and it was perfectly adequate - yoghurt and fruit; cold meat and cheese; rolls, croissants and bread which could be toasted; scrambled egg, bacon, mushrooms, cooked tomato, and on some days chicken chipolata sausages; jams, spreads and Dutch sprinkles plus tea, including herbal, and various types of coffee from a machine. Standard fare, self service and certainly set you up for the day. The hotel is located away from the city centre but the No 21 bus gets you to the Central Station area in about 15 minutes. There are a couple of supermarkets close by plus some bars and restaurants which have the feel of being where the locals would go. We ate in the Bos en Lobster which was a five minute walk away and well worth a visit if you like seafood. Whilst the hotel was not salubrious by any stretch of the imagination, and I do not think it warrants four stars, it was on the whole acceptable and the bed was comfy which is always important.

    « Maybe 4 stars 10 years ago »

Location: Firstly I want to address the negative comments about the location and start this review off with a positive. I've seen a lot of reviews here stating you shouldn't go out on your own at night etc. We found the complete opposite and suspect everyone is judging the locals on their appearance. There is a lovely Turkish cafe just round the corner which we walked to in the evening on the first night and we were the only white English couple in there and felt completely safe and locals were very friendly. We walked from the hotel to the city centre every morning (35-40 minute walk) and back in the evenings and it was a lovely walk. Hotel: On first appearances it does look like a 4 star hotel as you walk in, the staff were friendly to me (I've read some have experienced the opposite) and helpful on advice on where to eat locally etc. However when I walked into our room it was NOT representative of a 4 star establishment. The room was very tired - dirty walls which needed a paint/wipe down, nearly all fixtures (draws and wardrobes) had handles missing, main door and bathroom door both had holes in, the room hadn't been dusted in weeks and the sink was cracked and ceiling tiles had holes in. I've added photos of the problems below. Summary: The hotel location in relation to the city centre was fine if you don't mind long walks (which we don't). However if you're expecting a 4 star room you'll be disappointed.

« Average hotel - Rude and unorganised staff »

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in the first week of June. This is a basic but clean hotel. Bathroom door handle was broken which meant a party of 3 were unable to shut the door completely incase we got Locked in. Hotel key stopped working after the first night. I paid on arrival, however when checking out I was told I had not paid the right Amount and that there was 36 euros remaining. Absolutely outrageous. The manager then came out who was extremely rude stating " my colleague made a mistake - it happens, pay or I'm calling the police. I had gone over my card limit at the time, which resulted in my friend paying the remaining balance. The female manager failed to offer me anything for the inconvenience. Avoid staying here- there are nicer and cheaper hotels closer to dam square. Apart from the negatives, the transportation is very frequent and takes roughly 15 minutes to dam square which has plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and museums.

« Staff very rude but lovely hotel »

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is quite nice, the rooms could do with being updated but this didn't bother me at all. The rooms are clean on arrival and cleaned everyday. The hotel itself is a little way out from the city but again this didn't bother us, the tram / bus lines are literally around the corner and take you anywhere in the city. The number 21 bus takes you to the central station and the 14 tram takes you to Dam square. There is a supermarket around the corner from the hotel that we went to, you can buy anything you need there. We purchased travel cards from reception, best money we spent ( we saved lots doing this ). ** BAD POINTS ** The staff are so rude I was quite shocked. I rang reception and asked for milk. I was told I was rude .. What? I only asked for milk!! Anyway, the receptionist barked " you want milk you come to restaurant " and hung up the phone... Jesus, I felt I was being told off. Overall, I would stay there again.

« Comfortable, clean and friendly »

I found this hotel to be quite charming. The staff we came in to contact with were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable and clean and great. The location is very convenient also. There are lots of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance and the tram/bus lines into the main centre are just around the corner. I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it. I've seen mentioned that the area is not somewhere to walk through at night. This is a complete over reaction. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the area and it is very safe.

    4
    « Good hotel »

Comfortable and had an average price. Rooms are clean. Hotel might be located a little bit far from Amsterdam's center, but the tram stop are just a few meters away. There is also a supermarket near by where you can but thing that you need.

    « Second visit »

After a good firs visit, we followed it up. Reasonable prices in a location with halal turkish eating places. Quick ride to the centre. Staff are nice. Had breakfast here for the first time as there was an offer for €10 each. If you like donner Birtat1 is great!

« Clean but not at all like photos! »

Hotel is in a awful location not somewhere you would like to walk through late at night. The lobby and other areas are nice just like the pictures but the rooms are horrible totally stuck in the past! The room was clean and useable yes but they desperately need updating and neither us or the couple we was with had a room that looked anything remotely like the pictures. Worth paying extra for nicer room and better location!

« Great base for a city break. »

I visited with my friend for a short 3 day, mid week break (Tues-Fri). The hotel is a good 15min tram journey from the main attractions (Ann Frank house, Dam Square, Rembrandt Square, etc) but the trams run frequently and until late. We bought a 72 hour pass for trams and buses for €17 from the hotel reception. The public transport network at first appears confusing but you soon get the hang of it. I agree with other reviews in that the residential area in which the hotel is located is not the most attractive but it is easy to get to on public transport and quiet at night. €10 for breakfast (if you order the day before or €15 it you decide on the day) is very reasonably priced for what's on offer. If you decide to get breakfast whilst out in the city, be prepared to pay more for much less. It definitely sets you up for the day ahead and is served until 11am (11.30am at weekend). Our room was comfortable and clean. It was attended to each day we were there with clean towels provided. I would return to the Blue Tower as although it is a little bit out of the way, this was quite welcomed at the end of a busy day spent in the hustle and bustle of a busy city centre.

    « Great weekend »

Stayed at best western blue tower on 13/15 May , hotel is clean and tidy and well maintained and although a bit out of centre of Amsterdam transport is easily accessible , breakfast was really good with plenty of options hot and cold , a comfortable and pleasant stay for the price paid

    « Good Value »

Good value hotel, clean and quiet. Reception staff very friendly and helpfull. Rooms of a decent size. A little out of the way but easy transport links. My only negative would be that there is no bar!!

« Not bad this hotel, but in an unattractive neigborhood »

The hotel is situated in a part of town called "Bos en Lommer', which is certainly not the finest in Amsterdam. Parking is good as is shopping for food in the direct neighborhood. Beds are good, breakfast is ok, nothing special. Service is lousy and frontdesk made some serious mistakes at checking in and checking out. Prices are considerably lower than in the city center during the tourist season. Sometimes they have attractive deals and then you should consider to stay here. Best prices you will find at Bestwestern.com and not through other booking engines. Direct link with public transport (tram) to the city center. Takes about 15-20 mintes

    « Nice hotel »

We had a pleasant stay in this hotel during our short vacation in amsterdam. It is located outside the city center and it takes about 20-25 minutes to reach the city by tram. Checking in ang checking out went fast. Our room was in the third floor. It was clean and nice. We didnt have a remarkable view outside our room but it did not matter because we spent almost all of our time outside the hotel. Breakfast was included in our booking. The food was alright. They had both warm and cold breakfast. Frontdesk staff were helpful and polite. Did not have any problem during our entire stay.

    « Very dated »

Stayed here for 2 nights, hotel is not in the best location, not much going on around hotel. Rooms are very dated, with old dark furniture. No bar in hotel either which doesn't help. Would not stay here again while visiting Amsterdam. It's in a built up area, with 3 storey flats surrounding the entrance, not ideal if you want to go for a stroll. Breakfast was ok, nothing special, staff at breakfast could be more helpful.

    « Poor Room »

Room had a column in middle of the room! This was very akward. The staff did not inform us when we checked in.This made opening our luggage almost impossible. The column was right in front of the window. We could not change from the assigned room!

    « Great short break »

A late review! I chose here as I got a really cheap deal with booking.com and good easy jet flights we flew 5th Nov 2015 and stayed for 3 nights. When we checked in we were asked if we would like a room on the top floor (have to get lift to the top then walk up a flight of stairs - was absolutely fine), which we said yes, so glad we did as it was like a penthouse suite, massive room and great views! Not many rooms up there, so it was quiet too. Not in the centre, but there's a tram stop round the corner, which takes about 15 mins to get into Dam Square, the trams run all the time and it's a really easy system, get a 3 day ticket to save money. Also bus back to train station is easy for airport. Our room was clean and really big, so was the bed couldn't even find my partner! However, the reason I have given it a 3 is because of the smell of the room it REALLY smelt of smoke, but I did not mention it to the reception as I wanted to stay in that room because of the space and views - so apart from the smell of smoke it was really good, but we had to have our windows open all night, luckily we were on the top floor, so couldn't hear too much sound from below. Would I stay here again? YES, it's a really good price for what you get, hostels in the centre are twice the money and not half as good. You only sleep in the room on a city break anyway.

« Very good transport links to City »

Spent 2 nights at Bluetower, wasn't keen on the location at first but the transport links to city are very close and very reliable so very easy to get in & out of Dam. The hotel staff are very helpful but found decor of the rooms very dated and our room smelt of cigarette smoke although it's supposed to be a non smoking hotel... The hotel could do with a bit of a make over.. But no major problems ??

« The Tower of Disappointment! »

Booked for me as a surprise birthday trip, as always wanted to visit Amsterdam! Booked via British Airways Holidays and rated as 4*. Taxi from the airport was swift and then we arrived in what can only be described as a rather neglected housing estate, next to the motorway. The hotel is built within a concrete complex, comprising of a bank, coffee shop, supermarket, KFC and a raised shopping area, which you wouldn't wish to walk through after dark. Upon arrival at the airport, you had to buzz reception as the revolving door, no doubt due to security concerns was locked at all times. This is fine during the day when the reception is manned, but a little worrying waiting outside in a poorly lit street with countless hooded youths hanging around, when nobody is behind the reception desk! The door itself was strange, enormous and in sections able to house items. The hotel had chosen to throw tatty bits of fabric and cheap dusty vases in there for some reason, like this was a special feature of the hotel! In fact it was indeed an accurate assessment as to what to expect inside! Once inside we received a lovely welcome from the ladies at the reception and was allocated a room on the 5th floor. There are two lifts serving all the floors in this hotel, they are slow and small and as everyone is dependent on them, since the stairs available are fire escape stairs which are steep and with a small tread on each step, so not the easiest to climb or walk down. The corridor on floor 5 was stuffy and a bit shabby so we already had an idea as to what to expect. We threw open the door and was impressed with the amount of light in the room, we had been allocated a corner room which literally had windows running the full length of the room, this was also the case for the bathroom, which had poor fitting curtains (to narrow for the vast window), meaning you could be observed by residents in the row of flats opposite, washing your hands, taking a shower or anything else! Ridiculous that blinds had not been supplied. Not impressed, we did the usual inspection of cleanliness, opened the cupboard under the sink and the whole door fell off, it had just been rested in position, not fixed and potentially dangerous. The main room, although bright was boiling like a greenhouse, due to the vast windows, again with poorly fittied dusty curtains. Hardly a room with a view either, the vista consisting of the concrete shopping precinct next door and warehouse roofs. Oddly, for a contemporary looking building the rooms was furnished with big, dark and cheap repo antique furniture. Every unit, was scratched and/or chipped, the wardrobe next to the bathroom door had electrical wires hanging out of the top, the carpet was stained and hadn't seen a vacuum cleaner in days and the linen on the bed was dirty. We decided to go back to reception and ask for a room change, apparently there was only one other available room, two floors up on the 7th. We went to have a look, it was half the size, with the same ridiculously large furniture but it had less windows, a bathroom which was not on view to the world and most importantly cleaner! We took the room. After unpacking, we realised we needed an iron. back to wait for one of the two "speedy" lifts to reception (we has to let two lifts go as already full) we were then asked to pay 10euros for the iron and then had the pleasure of carting both the iron and ironing board through reception to wait in a queue again for one of the lifts back to the room, hardly a 4* experience! The city itself is terrific but this is not a good neighbourhood. That said, it has tram and bus connections close by to enable an escape from the misery for a few hours!! I think in 20+ Trip Advisor reviews that this is only my second negative review of anywhere. Please don't book this hotel, we've never stayed at a Best Western before and if this is an example of what they can offer, then I shall avoid this chain at all costs in the future! Have fun in the city, on the canals and at the amazing Heineken Experience, but stay at another hotel, in another part of town!!

« Loved the Hotel, Ideally Located »

Stayed here on my first visit to Amsterdam. I really enjoyed my stay here. It is located nearby a Tram stop which takes you to the centre of the city, as well as a number of bus stops. It was a long enough journey to get to Central Station, around 25 minutes each way, however this didn't bother us. We got to all the main attractions in the city without any difficulty and the Hotel staff were very helpful in giving directions or assistance when needed. Would highly recommend.

    « Week away holiday »

All Staff spoke English and were very helpful and friendly, only a 2 minute walk away from tram stop which takes you too all the main central areas, only downfalls were stains on our 'clean' towels and a double room is two single beds put together. Defiantly would visit again :)

    « Utterly dissatisfied »

Let me start off with a warning... Please read before signing the invoice! We booked it through Booking.com.. We paid the required amount on check-in...in Euros as reflected in our invoice.. About €369 for 2 nights.. After a whole day of travelling, we really did not check the invoice we were signing.. And it basically said we have agreed to pay in USD.. So, when we later check our card statement a few days..We find we've been charged €382 + €13 for the stay instead of the amount mentioned in our invoice.. Probably because they decided to conveniently forget to mention it verbally beforehand to tired travellers and charge a more profitable exchange rate... This was the most disgusting type of cheating I've faced ever! And I have stayed in other countries! Services too weren't really 4 star as they claim...The wifi turned off every night! The rooms weren't as clean as we are used to in a 4 star hotel.. No complimentary water ( we got this in a lower class hotel).. No microwave or fridge (again we got this for lower in a lower class hotel).. And a fair distance away from the center of the city.. Overall.. A very poor experience.. Glad we shifted to the Marriott after 2 nights..

« Quite a distance to central Amsterdam »

The hotel was approx 20 mins away from central station on bus. If you get a taxi it costs €18 so that will give you an idea of how far out it is. It was decent inside. Large corner room (907) with great view of the city especially from the bathroom. Room was quite dated. Very clean though. Restaurant looked ok but very busy at breakfast so we didn't bother. If you don't mind distance from the city centre, it's not a bad choice.

    « Excellent »

For the money I paid I was most impressed, my only criticism was that the hotel boasted a bar, to my surprise it was alcohol and free. Unusual, the food was based on Chinese style cuisine and was of an average of standard

    « A comfortable stay »

I came Amsterdam for the first time with my friend and we stayed at the Blue Tower. My first impression was it looked grand. We checked in and the receptionist was very friendly. Our rooms was clean comfortable and very nice although there was only two if us,we give a room with four single beds. The beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was amazing Breakfast was €10 extra per day if you booked in advance. There was a continental breakfast the food was average at best (if the wad beans there was no sausage and vise versa )it is what you would expect from a hotel breakfast, there was cereal breads croissants and a selection of cold cuts. Overall we had a nice stay the staff were friendly our room was clean and comfortable the hotel was located a short tran ride from the centre.

« FAB DON'T LISTEN TO BAD REVIEWS »

Me and my boyfriend came here Mid March for 3 nights. The hotel was very clean and reception staff were very helpful and polite. The beds were comfortable with a large plasma tv at the bottom of the bed. We were able to connect to the free wifi from the 7th floor and it was fast internet. Had to get a bus to Central but it was only 10 minutes on the 21 bus and the stop was right around the corner from the hotel. If I were to come to Amsterdam again I would happily go back to this hotel. Do not listen to the bad reviews because who goes on holiday to spend 24/7 in the hotel room anyway?

« The location suited us, but the hotel seems to have plenty of shortcomings »

We were looking for a sensibly priced hotel for three nights in Amsterdam; unfortunately, sensibly priced hotels in tourist areas come with snags. We were able (just) to cope with the ones we experienced here, but I fear many folks wouldn't. The location of the Blue Tower was fine for us ? a mile and a half west of the city centre (with trams and buses to get you there), shops and bars close by, within ten minutes' walk of the Metro at De Vlugtlaan, and walking distance from Westerpark and Museum het Schip (which I would thoroughly recommend). Problems at the Blue Tower became immediately apparent on arrival: they've obviously had security issues in the past, for you have to press a buzzer to gain admission through the revolving door. (They could reorganise reception to have the desk closer to the door, ready to challenge any undesirables, but it's right at the back of the entrance hall ? space in between being used as a waiting area. A bar does feature but it's out of use.) Our room was big enough ? but there was a pillar right in the middle making it almost impossible to see the TV from either of the two armchairs provided. The room had a great view of the west of the city, it was fun watching the planes going into Schipol at sunset ? but we were lucky, we were on the 7th floor. Up to about the 4th floor there would have been a window of an office block directly opposite ? sufficiently close to be able to see what was on their PC screens. Having said that, we had no noise issues at all, even though there was so much close by. In any event, the room had not been well prepared prior to our arrival. The safe was locked, a problem which they did sort out quickly, but there were other issues that really should have been fixed earlierl ? marks on the wall (especially on that pillar) which would have needed little more than a damp cloth and some bleach to remove, and there was no plug for the basin in the ensuite. We did ask for one but never got it ? it may be that they didn't understand. The only mirror in the bedroom was behind the tea and coffee making area; I'm not sure why, but it was rather cloudy, it looked as if it needed a good polish. I concluded that they don't have a standard checklist for room preparation which the housekeeping team members have to follow ? or, if they do, the team members aren't following it. The bed was big ? too big, in fact, for the duvet and sheets. The duvet was only just big enough to cover the mattress from one side to the other, and the mattress was exposed at the base of the bed where the sheets were too small to cover it. The duvet was exceptionally thin ? no more than an inch ? which, I have to say (as a one time proprietor of a four star establishment myself (in the UK)), is very poor. Lighting ? and the layout of the switches controlling it ? was also poor, I was glad I had brought a torch with me so that I might read in bed. The ensuite was quite large, but also poorly lit. The basin was inset into a large counter which actually made it difficult to see what I was doing when shaving ? the mirror was far too far away. Viv, my partner, is only 5 feet 4 inches tall, and struggled to reach the basin tap. The door to the ensuite didn't close properly ? it looked as if someone had broken the lock by kicking it hard from inside. It didn't matter to us but the exposed fragments of chipboard did rather add to the overall atmosphere of neglect. During the night I became aware of a steady ?drip, drip, drip' from the ensuite. A problem with the ball valve in the cistern, no doubt ? yet another piece of maintenance that needed attending to. Tea, coffee, sugar and whitener were provided, with mugs and a kettle, so we were able to enjoy a morning coffee before getting up. The coffee wasn't replenished on the first morning, perhaps an oversight. Fortunately I had some spares courtesy of the cabin in the Stena Ferry on which we had travelled over. New coffee sachets were provided on the second morning. On our first morning we were faced by a huge queue for lifts to go down, so we decided to take the stairs instead. These are perhaps not meant for guest use, being steep and uncarpeted. The stairs also exit directly to the street, where a couple of staff members were enjoying a cigarette ? the open back doors providing a route round that secure revolving door into reception. (The layout should surely be changed so that the stairs normally exit into reception, with a strict ?emergency only' door to the outside.) We didn't eat in the restaurant; it's only open Tuesdays ? Saturdays (not quite what we had expected) so we went out onto Bos en Lommerweg and ate at Café ?t Lommertje (about five minutes walk away, heading east) or Michelangelo ? an Italian restaurant ? about ten minutes walk away, again heading into town. (There didn't seem to be much by way of cafes or restaurants around Bos en Lommerplein, or towards De Vluglaan metro station). For breakfast, each morning we found somewhere for a quick croissant and coffee ? on our last day the baker over the road had three croissants for 2.10 Euros. I was also very surprised at a notice in reception advising that the hotel does not serve alcohol in its bar or restaurant (both on the first floor) ? it put this down to a ?technical issue' connected to licensing law changes in Amsterdam. From a quick perusal of Tripadvisor it's clear this has been the case for a few months, and it's very surprising that a franchise like Best Western haven't resolved the matter, for travellers from the UK, US and other Western countries will expect to be able to get a drink after a long journey, especially with a meal. We bought beer and wine in the supermarket next door, there were no signs saying we weren't allowed to take it to our room so I presume that was OK. (There wasn't any indication as to whether you would be able to take your own wine or beer into the restaurant: I'm not sure what Dutch law says about that, I'd strongly suggest anyone wanting to do this should check with the management first.) Overall, the Blue Tower hotel has the feel of a business that is struggling ? there seems to not be enough money, or the strength of management, to do things properly. On our way home we stopped off at the Premier Inn in Harwich, and, if nothing else, the management of the Blue Tower hotel could do worse than take themselves off there for a night or two to see how efficient a budget hotel can be, and still charge sensible prices. (£47 a night at the Harwich PI, compared to the 98 Euros (£80 sterling) we paid at the Blue Tower). Prior to this visit I wasn't aware that Best Western was a franchise, I had assumed it to be a chain with the consistent level of quality that would provide. Not only am I unlikely to ever stay at this hotel again, I don't think I'll stay at another Best Western, if I have the choice.

    « Would definitely reccomend »

Just returned from a 3 night Stay and would most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Was sceptical due to other reviews however we could not fault the cleanliness and standard of this hotel. Bedding and towels changed daily and room was clean and presentable on arrival. Bus stop is literally sound the corner and only a 15 min drive to central station (no 21). Would recommend to buy a travel card from reception. We paid €21 for 4 days and it gave us unlimited access on trams and buses. Just remember to scan your card when getting on and off the bus. We had an amazing time in Amsterdam and would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about it. One word of advice- take good shoes lots of walking about to do.

« Good location, good value for money »

I won't lie. I half expected a Van Gogh themed room in our Amsterdam hotel. And there it was! Fishing boats on one wall, Starry Nights on the other. But that's when you get inside. It's just 3 mins walk from the bus stop that takes you directly to the city center. Breakfast was minimal, but good. The room was neat. Right outside the hotel was kind of a local market square. I would recommend the hotel.

« Poor Restuarant for diner - Eat / drink at Cafe 't Lommerweg which is nearby at Bos en Lommerwegg 259. »

Reasonable hotel for accomodation with excellent and reasonably priced breakfast, but the dinner menu is pathetic and the hotel has no drinks licence!! However there are some very good alternative eating / drinking establishments in the area. Cafe 't Lommertje does great evening meals - their steak dinner at 14.5 Euro is absolutely superb and they will serve any variation of the lunch / dinner menu all through the day - just ask and tell them what you would like. Drinks are also very reasonably priced and the service is awsome! They only have a few inside tables so be early or prepared to wait a short time. There is also a Thai restuarant just up the road at 199 which is pretty good as well. Summing up, the hotel is OK for the price and the location is quite convenient for catching a tram / bus into the city centre - just a pity about the poor evening meals and non existent bar facilities, but fortunately there are plenty of alternatives in the locality. Some reviewers mention that they were intimidated by some of the people in the area, but as elderly pensioners we had no problems whatsoever even when out late in the evenings.

    « No Bar! »

Hotel was clean with spacious rooms, but there was no bar and no alcohol, so you couldn't have a drink with your meal in the restaurant, nor could you meet friends for an evening nightcap in the bar. I found this very strange for a Best Western 4 star and I usually choose 4 star Hotels because they provide life's little luxuries, which include alcohol. The nearest bar was quite a walk away and the area was a bit scruffy with lots of litter and chewing gum stuck to the pavements! Also the Breakfast room was small and cramped for the amount of quests, but the choice of food was good and the staff were very friendly.

    « Friendly staff »

I recently visited the Netherlands and was relatively happy with my stay at the Blue Tower Hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful with all other personal requests. The hotel is somewhat out of the way, but personally I found this suitable as it was just far away from the buzz but still close to all public transport points which made it easy enough to get around. Our room was a bit small, but comfortable. Food was great though... I just love AMSTERDAM, so it was very difficult for me to find anything unpleasant... see you soon!

« Comfortable but dated and out the way. Helpful staff though! »

Used this hotel with friends on a group holiday. Not as central as hoped and quickly got used to the tram system. Staff were helpful and spoke good english, making good recommendations and breakfast was standard continental buffet. The rooms were comfortable but out dated.

    « What a disappointing hotel »

Firstly we arrived 2 hours early for check in and was told that when the room was ready we would be told straight away, this did not happen we waited and waited and finally they let us in a VERY SMALL room that resembled the inside of a microwave. It was so small and so the temperature got very hot ,very quickly. Decor was something out of a cheap movie set on a budget a wet and wild movie too, you could not have a shower without generating a large puddle on the floor. Very quickly we learnt not to take the gorgeously designed hotel lobby as an example for the rest of the hotel. They wanted to charge hideous amounts of money for breakfast so we never ate there. We had a lovely view of the local supermarket goods receiving entrance so I became very used to seeing the same worker on his fag breaks and lorry's beeping. Our time in Amsterdam was lovely and very enjoyable, transport routes are simple and easy to navigate around so the location was not any issue. It came to leaving and we asked the hotel to ring us a taxi. The hotel being a 15 minute car journey away from the airport cost us 25 euros arriving however when the hotel organised our taxi they ordered what looked like a Chauffeur service which cost us a FORTUNE being 45 euros. I just assumed they would call the local taxi's that we saw everywhere but NO, seems like the staff must have really disliked us to stitch us up like that! Fairly disappointing, would find somewhere better to stay in future.

Very reasonably priced hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. A little out of the city centre, but there is an excellent transport system. So not a problem. The hotel sells travel cards which are a good buy.

    « Relaxing stay! »

Very helpful, lovely staff, both at reception and at Saffron restaurant located in the hotel. Our room was very basic, two separate beds put together, a TV and a bathroom, it didn't look very modern but it was all right for the price we paid. TV had English channels which was also a bonus. Room service wasn't the best but not awful, my other half managed to spill some coke on the sheets and they haven't changed it all week but other than that it wasn't too bad. Location of the hotel was fantastic, it was only about 15-20 mins on the tram to the centre and the tram stop was literally 2 mins away. There are small markets and a few shops a minute away from the hotel and KFC and Dominos nearby. We really enjoyed our stay with Best Western

    « Decent hotel »

Good hotel for a family stay. Stayed in a quad room, which had ample room for all four of us. Double bed for the parents, two single beds for the kids. On the plus side, the room was quite large. On the negative, it felt just a tad run down--scratches on the furniture, and saggy spring mattresses on the beds. Nothing that a quick furniture overhaul couldn't fix. Neighborhood was nothing remarkable (mixed apartment blocks and businesses, including a nearby grocery store), but with easy access to the tram, the trip into central Amsterdam was less than 20 minutes. Ate the buffet breakfast at the hotel each day (adults 10 euros, kids free). I would recommend it, as the selection and quality were quite good.

    « Lovely hotel! »

Came to this hotel for 3 nights 4 days with my boyfriend and we had a lovely stay! We had a standard double room on the first floor which had a clean modern bathroom with a huge shower!! The room was a nice size and the bed was so comfy but there was almost too much wardrobe space and furniture and if there was less the room may have looked bigger!! Staff were extremely helpful and helped make our stay a pleasant one! Was a bit disappointed that the restaurant was closed on a Sunday and Monday night as these covered 2 of the days we were there and would have loved to try there! Overall our stay was fab and would recommend it to all!

    « Don't Come Here »

We stayed at The Blue Tower Hotel Amsterdam for 2 nights with our two young children and I must say, we were appalled by this hotel. We arrived by car and on first impressions we were very concerned. First of all, the hotel is situated in a rundown part of town in the mix of domestic high rise tower blocks and I am sure crime is high in this part of town. So as you can imagine, I took advantage of the secure parking option at 12 euros per day. As we walked through the lobby it appeared to be nice, modern and clean despite our first impressions. The staff seemed friendly enough and quickly checked us in with little fuss. We were given a room on the 6th floor and this was where things started to take a turn for the worse. The room was so old fashioned and depressing with dark brown furniture and blue carpets. Okay, I can appreciate that we all might have different taste in decor. However, there was no excuse for the state of the room. The walls and ceiling were dirty, stained and clearly had not seen a lick of paint since they were painted when the hotel first opened. The heater did not work over 24 degrees as we were advised. The lighting was poor and dim and in the daytime, the windows let in very little light. For a 4 start hotel I would have expected a fridge in the room, guess what.. no fridge. The windowsill was dirty as when I ran my hand over it, it was covered in dust. In the roof, we had a hole from what looks like a speaker or something circular that had fallen out. The bathroom was slightly better and was much more modern than the rest of the room. After getting over the shock of the state of the room, we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. As mentioned above, we had travelled by car from the UK for many hours. The waitress showed us to our seats. We proceeded to place our drink orders to be told that they don't serve alcohol. I could not believe my ears, so I asked the waitress to repeat what she had said. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big drinker and I certainly wouldn't be drinking the bar dry with our car in the secure carpark. However, after 12 hours of travelling, we fancied a beer with our meal. The waitress explained that they did not renewal their alcohol license. But this is a 4 star hotel I said to her. She explained it was the owner's choice not to renew it. This probably explained why we were one of two guests eating in the restaurant at that time. On the plus side, the food was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals even though the prices were highly inflated. We won't be coming back here again and I would advise to stay clear of this place if you can help it. Amsterdam city centre is accessible via the number 14 tram which is about a 20 minutes tram ride. I would avoid walking back at night as there are some interesting characters hanging around the hotel. This hotel was so bad, we tried to stay out as late as possible with two young kids to avoid having to stay in our room any longer than we needed to.

    « Nice hotel ! »

We enjoyed Our stay at this hotel. The rooms were roomy and clean and there were a number of restaurants and grocery shops nearby. Busses and trams take you frequently in to the city center. It's a long walk from the center an back but it's really Nice to walk through the parks. Uber COSTs about 13 euro. The breakfast was good and tasty and 10 euro. There's a lot of Rabbits and parrots in the area :)

« Did what it said on the tin? »

When we first arrived our room was not ready, however, we were given the option of waiting or checking in to an available room. We had been travelling for about eight so took the first available room and were given the option of changing once the room became available. The first room was a small double which was clean and nice. It would have been fine if we were staying for one night. We were moved the following day to a more spacious room with a tub and an amazing view of the area. The décor was lovely, comfortable bed, free Wi-Fi (though we didn't use it), friendly very helpful staff, who were available to assist round the clock. Had dinner at the restaurant on the last night, which was sumptuous. Lovely décor, friendly staff. The hotel is in a very accessible location, with supermarkets, restaurants, shops, open air market all in close proximity. The transport links to Schiphol airport and the city centre are great - buses, trams, trains. Would definitely visit again?

« This is not 4 star hotel!!! »

We came to Amsterdam for 4 days and we wanted to stay in a good hotel and we looked for 4 star hotel,we found this one.The pictures are looking great but the reality is different. When we arrived the room was clean but the bed sheet was broken, the walls were very dirty with coffee stains and much more...For a 4 star hotel this is too much!!!We went to reception to solve the problem. They changed our room which is better but still not 4 star standard! For the future we are booking another hotel!

« Good value for the money »

It's my 3rd time at this hotel and for Amsterdam (although is far from city center) has a very good balance: price/services. The rooms are very big, it's a new construction and the rooms start at the 2nd floor (at 1st floor is the restaurant) so you wont be stresses about to posibility to receive an underground room

« good few nights stay »

The room was clean spacious and was ideal for resting after a long day touring amsterdam. The location is away from the centre if you dont mind using local transport this is great! You can access the airport via 1 bus stop ride to sloterdiyk train station then get a train to the airport it cost us 9euro for 2 the train takes about 10 min and drops you right inside the airport. To get to the local attractions we bought a tram/bus ticket we got from hotel reception this cost us 5euro each a day. The tram no 14 takes you to the local attractions like the dam square, van goth etc. The only advice I would give make sure you get it from the right side of the road. And dont worry if you wany tay out late as there is a night bus 752.

« Comfortable, very affordable and great service. »

I stayed here with a group of 8 girls in March 2016 for one night. We were in Amsterdam for a hen do and we were not disappointed!! The cost was approximately 45 Euros in a taxi from the airport to the hotel which between 8 of us was a steal! The location of the hotel at first glance is a bit of a dump.... however, this is the only slight downside - however you have to press a button to reception for them to let you in the hotel which I liked as it made me feel secure. There is a good market literally 2 minutes walk away, a supermarket which sells everything you could ever need and the tram/bus stop which will take you to Dam square in 15 minutes - and they actually run regularly (every 20 mins - ish)!!! The room itself was on the 4th floor and was huge! We had 2 quadruple rooms and they were both very well appointed, immaculately clean and quiet considering the location of the hotel. The bed (a huge kingsize) was so comfy I could have stayed there all day - but no - I had to go have breakfast in the hotel. The breakfast to set you up for the day cost us 14 euros each and can be booked on the morning. It was worth the money as locally there arn't many breakfast places, unless you go to the centre. Breakfast consisted of pretty much anything you could want; fruit, salad, meats and cheeses, croissants (jam, nutella, sprinkles!), breads, crackers (rice crackers etc), fried breakfast, coffee, teas, juices - I could go on!! Reception was very helpful with our luggage on our second day, due to us having a late flight back, we stored our luggage in a locked room free of charge for the whole day which was so convenient instead of lugging everything around. We also booked two discounted excursions at reception; one at an Ice bar for 17 euros (including 3 drinks) and a canal cruise for 11 euros. It was very easy to do and we had no problems with our tickets at the venues. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam - It can be very costly to stay in the city centre but this hotel just out of the centre is a real bargain. Our group have already decided to go back in the summer and also in January - and yes - we will be staying at the Blue Tower hotel!! Thanks for an amazing stay!!

    « Cheap and comfortable »

I stayed here with my fiancé for 2 nights in March, it was very reasonable rate and the room was clean, comfortable and relatively spacious. The staff were lovely and looked after our suitcases for us on the last day free of charge. There was also free Wi-fi which was VERY good, honestly the best free wi-fi I have ever used, we were both able to stream on our phones with no problem. It is a little bit out from the city centre but the public transport in Amsterdam is so good that it's not really a problem, the bus and tram stop "Bos en Lommerplein" is just around the corner from the hotel with a bus or tram every 10 mins going into the centre.

« Good value for City break »

Great value Hotel, Reception staff helpful and friendly. Room a good size and clean, didn't eat at the Hotel so unable to comment. 15 minute tram ride into City Centre with regular bus and tram links.

« Helpful staff, lovely rooms and breakfast for budget hotel »

Would recommend first time in Amsterdam and staff were so helpful telling us where to go and gave us directions. There's a bike hire available from the hotel the tram and bus stop is less than 5 mins away from the hotel and only 15-20min from city centre. Would go again

    « Surprised in a good way »

After reading recent reviews we had doubts and were quite suspicious. Nevertheless the room and service were great. Friendly staff and clean spacious room. The hotel itself is aprox 15 minutes far from the center but well located. I would recommend this place as a good value for money.

    4
    « Not very central »

Really clean nice hotel was on the 10 th floor underfloor heating in the spotless bath room shower gel etc provided.Nice size room plenty of space.Quite dismayed though that the rather nice lounge area only sold soft drinks. And the bar in foyer wasn't even open.Considering there is no night life in the immediate area I think the hotel is missing the boat on this one. Other than that not far from tram and bus stops .

    4
« Far from center close to tram »

Looking for a Hotel with a nearby car park ? This is it. With a P+R service, you have the chance to park your car and take the tram from this place. The hotel itself is like any other BW hotels, no need to tell much about it. For those looking for a Turkish cuisine, this is also a good alternative, as a variety of restaurants and groceries are close to this hotel.

    3
    « Pleasant »

No wow factor for this place but pleasant enough, clean and quiet. The hotel is well located with the tram very close and supermarket. The staff was friendly and chatty. The room was big enough and serviced every day. A very good hotel for its value.

    « Birthday celebrations »

Visited this hotel for 3 nights to celebrate a friend and mines birthday. Wasn't expecting much after some of the reviews but was pleasantly suprised. Hotel was clean and maintained throughout, the cleaners working all through the day. Everyday we put our maid service card on the door and left our towels on the floor as instructed hen dirty and our beds were made and the towels replaced. Toiletries such as shampoo, shower gel, soap and shower caps are supplied in the bathroom which was a nice extra. The room was spacious anough with adequate storage for 4. Being on the 7th floor we overlooked our neighbourhood and a motorway; but the motorway did not cause anough noise to keep us awake at night. Room was kept to our desired temperature helped by having our own central heating control in the bedroom. The staff at reception were friendly anough, they didn't go out of there way to engage with us (or even smile); but they answered our questions and dealt with our queries as needed. Didn't enjoy breakfast, but I am a fussy eater, there is variety of a cooked breakfast, breads, croissants and fruits so plenty of choice. Immediate area was definitely not touristy and we struggled at the supermarket to understand how the till systems worked due to many of the workers being non English speaking and no English signage to explain but as I say we wasn't in the city so thry probably don't need to cater for us non dutch speaking tourists here. A tram takes 20 minutes and we used to get the no 14 which was just down the road to us. Crossing the road however you take your life into your own hands as cyclists, mopeds cars and even the trams tend to ignore any pedestrian crossing signs. There was no where in the area to sit an have an alcoholic beverage as the hotel has a no alcohol sale policy and we was informed by the receptionist if we wanted to go to a pub we had to go into the city ( although you can bring alcohol back to your room). We did explore locally ourselves but only found a "normal" coffee shop, a couple of takeaways and a few local shops for conveniences. Overall I had no complaints with the hotel, it was comfortable, warm and I felt safe within tbe building. It functioned as stated and we was aware before arrival of the distance to the city and the no alcohol service. However if I was to visit Amsterdam again I would stay in the city as it would just make exploring a lot more convenient.

    4
« Good enough for us »

Clean, warm and comfy although twin beds for us wasn't ideal. Plenty of English channels when they actually did work. High floor is a must it was so quiet on a night. Abit out of the way for the centre but not too far for some people maybe just my opinion but in all we enjoyed our stay.

    1
    « Ice Cold »

The hotel was really badly isolated and really cold and when we asked for extra blankets they did not have spare ones. Furthermore the staff was really unfriendly and cared more about their phones than their customers. But it was clean and we could easily go to the city so that was a plus. But overall it is not a four stars hotel but rather two.

    4
« Good base for exploring »

We were given a room on the 6th floor which was comfortable and clean although decor could have done with a update I suppose. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Staff were helpful and polite. Public transport links to Amsterdam central are fantastic, we bought a 4day pass from reception for €22 which we used on buses and trams all over the city. Good base for sightseeing etc but if your coming to Amsterdam for the nightlife (although there is a night bus after 12.30am) you might prefer something more central. Not sure about 4 star but prices are cheap for Amsterdam so we were happy.

« Bad room service, smelly rooms, rude restaurant staff »

    1. They don't carry luggage to the rooms 2. Kalpana at the restaurant on the first floor is the most rude person you will ever meet. 3. The rooms are smelly. 4. Toilets stink. 5. Water is to be taken from toilet tap. 6. Reception staff was good. 7. Far away from Central Station. 8. Not at all recommended.

    4
    « Cheeky break »

Hotel was clean, staff were polite, rooms comfortable, we didn't use any of the facilities i.e. Bar restaurant etc as we had a heavy schedule while out in Amsterdam! But all looked very good! Very good transport services from near by to get in to dam square etc,

    3
    « Not a 4* »

Reception staff friendly and helpful ?? Rooms cleaned daily but bed sheets not actually changed; only made. This is not acceptable?? One of the 3 days we were staying we were told yes at the door for breakfast, and then after starting to get our food told that actually we didn't pay, then after explaining we have paid, being told actually yes you are on the list. - again not acceptable for a 4 star hotel to have this level of miss-communication?? Takes a while to wait and get a tram/bus into the city centre, not enjoyable in the winter ?? WIFI?? is free and accessible in the rooms but very slow, and must be reconnected (re-enter password etc) each time you use it ??

    « Bad. »

DO NOT GET A TAXI TO THE HOTEL FROM THE AIRPORT. we got caught out by a really 'nice' taxi man who then charged us €50 for a 10 minute drive to the hotel that's so easily accessible by bus or tram. This hotel is definitely a weird one. We stayed in February for 4 nights, I booked on booking.com and it wasn't the cheapest but I assumed it was good because of its 4 stars. It definitely doesn't deserve those stars, I've stayed at cleaner hostels. The bus stop was a 2 minute walk and the buses into town (21) were really interesting as they go through a lot of the city. There's a little super market right beside the hotel too.. The restaurant wasn't open on Sunday or Monday which was really odd. The opening hours for the restaurant were also odd like there's a few restaurants around but if you wanna eat well or you're a vegetarian do not stay here. Myself and my boyfriend (who would eat anything) went to bed hungry every night. We were given room 107 when we arrived and it was a dingy smelly little room with hairs in the bed and mould on the wall behind the curtains. The whole room smelled like urine or something and there was stains on the walls, even the surfaces were dirty and dusty. There wasnt even a window i could open. The kettle smelled like vinegar had been boiled in it and even tho requested, there was no bath. That really annoyed me as we live in an apartment and I was really looking forward to having one. I complained at reception about the bath and the girl said she could move us the following day. We were then moved to a room on the 7th floor which must be more recently renovated or something as it was like a different hotel. The view was gorgeous and it had a bath and clean sheets. The mattress was comfy but the pillows gave me a headache. No batteries in the remote, no milk and there was 1 teabag. Rang down for some and an hour later had to ring again because they 'forgot' I would stay again if I was desperate as I know Amsterdam is expensive but I'd have to be pretty desperate .

    « Disgrace »

I decided to stay in Amsterdam this time . As you know Amsterdam hotel prices are very expensive . I thought I found a bargain , a 4 star hotel close to the centre. Getting there was no problem good public transport options and only 20 minutes to the city centre . The hotel is a big bright blue tower hence the name , to get I is like a prison because the door is always locked even during the day . Staff were friendly , once you enter the room there's a bad smell , carpet is dirty with stains and the room looks old. Very noisy from others on my floor . The house keeper didn't even clean the room just made the bed and they were noisy too shouting at 7 am . This hotel is not a 4 star hotel more like a 2/3 star . Won't be staying there again .

    « Very disappointing »

Unfortunately, the hotel is very far from I expect from a four star hotel. At first sight the room looks quite impressive, but when you look just a little bit closer you realize the shortcomings. First of all, the furniture is very old, run down and partially broken. Particularly, in our case in bathroom the cupboard would not close. I was really upset about the fact that the curtains in the bathroom did not cover the whole window! So about 1/3 of the window could not be covered by curtains. And there are residential buildings just vis-a-vis, so their windows looking just into our bathroom. We were not able to take shower because of this! Also, it was also very cold in the bathroom (we did not find how to heat it). The worst part was the mould in the bathroom! The curtains and window frames had mould stains. The room itself was not very clean and you could wipe dust from the cupboard. The breakfast was OK, but really not impressive for a four star hotel. Very limited choice of cheese. Eggs not tasty, cold... Also the glasses and cups did not look very clean. One positive thing I have to say about this hotel - the reception and cleaning personnel is very friendly. Particularly the receptionist on the night shift was very friendly and helpful. Another thing is the bed was comfortable. I would not want to stay in this hotel again. However, I think if people travel on budget, or have other reasons to visit this particular area, then it is OK for a short visit. Maybe for some people this is just fine, but for me it was too dirty and by far not enough for what I expect from a four star hotel.

« Good place to stay for a few days »

good comfortable room. The breakfast is not expensive and is quite ok. The palace is not that central but you can reach the central station in about 20 min, there is a bus and a tram both of them near the hotel. There is also a night bus after 00:00 so is allways reachable

    « Dissapointed »

Hotel was booked as a gift so we had no input in deciding. Very clean tidy hotel and staff on check in pleasant and helpful. Bedroom was spacious and clean. Now the downside to hotel- location a good 15 minute bus/tram ride from central Amsterdam not easiest place to find when get off bus/tram. After a long day touring Amsterdam we thought go back to hotel have a relax in hotel and have an alcoholic drink or 2 whilst going through photo's Much to our surprise there is no alcohol available at hotel. The nearest place appart from supermarket below hotel was a 5-10 minute walk away so I was informed. So if you want an hotel away from central city and in a quiet residential location its fine

    « Lovely hotel »

If I'm being honest I wasn't expecting much when we booked this hotel. We just wanted a cheap hotel for a few nights away. Was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The reception staff were really friendly and it was a quick check in. We went up to our room and our room was lovely, bright and massive. The bed was really comfortable and huge. When we checked in we were offered breakfast the next day for 10 euros each but we declined as we thought we would rather go somewhere else for breakfast. But in the morning we changed our mind and went down to breakfast to be greater by a rude member of staff with a attitude problem. She then said breakfast was £15 euros each as we hadn't booked, which was fine we just accepted it. It was busy as it was a Sunday and it was buffet style so we went up to get some things but it had ran out of everything, no bread for toast no orange juice no bacon no sausages. We mentioned this to the girl was greeted us when we walked in and she just shrugged her shoulders and replied 'what do you want me to do about it'. So after this we left the restaurant and went else where for breakfast. Apart from the breakfast episode I would really recommend this hotel. At night we went to a really nice bar called the black tiger, would recommend this bar for those who want to sit at the window with drinks and do some people watching on the red light district, we found it very entertaining.

« UNDERRATED!! Don't judge a book (or front of hotel in this case!) »

Amazing hotel, totally exceeded our expectations as soon as we entered the lobby. Very Clean, very spacious, modern and very friendly staff who are happy to help you around the city! The bedroom double and 1 single had a huge king size "double" which was fab!! Many mirrors, big new tv, plenty of drawers and super clean and modern bathroom. Unaware of about a €10 city tax charge (per room) but wasn't much between us of course! Wifi was great and accessible in all areas of the hotel free of cost! We didn't try the food or drink here so can't comment but there was a range of both in some vending machines which was useful The hotel was located very close to tram stations, lovely cafes and many shops! Maybe unlikely that you can walk to hot areas like dam square, Anne frank and red light.. But the trams are very easy and only €3-8 (one trip to 24hr ticket). I would definitely return to this hotel I cannot fault it in any way!!

    « Would return »

Would recommend nice rooms comfy bed only thing was 2 single beds pushed togther, can get tramp pass from reception, there is a local supermarket near and a kfc and the tram stop it's not too far good value for money

« avoid at all costs »

very shabby and dirty hotel, had a broken safe which the staff were totally clueless how to fix and after ,and lets be honest in a n area that didn't look exactly crime free this was essential. Also had to repeatedly ask for clean towels also another major shock to the system was having a bar that not only did not serve alcohol ,but had staff who were rude and surly when you asked. Also walking back to the hotel at night can be a little fraught too.my advice keep well clear and avoid.

    « Blue tower hotel »

On our last night at our stay at Blue Tower, been a very good stay. The hotel is around 15 minutes on tram number 14 where the stop is just around the corner. Supermarket also situated 5 minute walk. We found a lovely Italian just down the road and a good local pub further down. The rooms are very nice and even have heated floors in the bathroom which is fantastic!!! Definitely would stay here again, although would benefit from staying closer to the city centre although it is very easy to catch the tram. But it is very quiet and genuinely a lovely hotel!

    2
« To avoid if possible »

Not a good hotel. Reception Staff unfriendly and without experience. Morning breakfast expensive based on the offer. No parking available from the hotel. Restaurant really poor quality and without having a single beer?? Not good and try to avoid if possible.

    « Nice hotel »

After a few days in Berlin, we arrived in Amsterdam. We were here for two nights but the hotel was excellent. The staff were polite and spoke brilliant English (I'm sure everyone in Amsterdam did?) Room and bathroom were very clean, TV had a lot of channels in English. Transport went directly to most points of interest. Dam Square was under 20 minutes on the 14 tram and the 21 bus straight to Amsterdam Central station. The hotel has a supermarket next door and a few fast food places nearby, will stay here again when I return as I didn't see all of Amsterdam in the short time I had here. Oh, and free fast Wi-Fi.

    3
« Not 4 star in a typical residential neighborhood »

More like 2 star hotel and definitely not 4 stars. Polite and professional front desk stuff. Big room with comfortable bed. They try to keep it clean with what's given but the hotel is on the older side. Keep in mind that 11th floor doesn't have elevator access in case you have heavy luggage and will need to carry it up the stairs. Location is far away from any tourist attractions, public transport and in not so very save residential neighborhood. Keep in mind that taxi is pricey in Amsterdam so what you'll save in hotel stay you'll pay in taxi and uber fares. From the airport to the hotel it's about $45 ride. Make sure you take "official taxi" with meter and not strangers offering taxi services.

« First visit to Amsterdam! »

This hotel was lovely and perfect for a few nights to stay while we visited the city. You do have to get a tram which takes about 20 minutes into the centre but they do come often so this was fine. Our room was big, nice bathroom and tv. We had breakfast one morning and it was ok, abit pricey we preferred to go out somewhere in the centre. Overall would recommended this hotel if your wanting a few nights away in Amsterdam!

    5
    « Great hotel! »

Great hotel, very nice room on 9th floor...thanks to the kind receptionist Obucha or something like that :) Helpful staff, rooms are clean, big enough and you get free coffee and tea in the room! We would definitvely come back again...and we will recommend it to friends!

    « Accommodating accommodation!! »

4 star hotel. Friendly staff. Free wifi. What more do you need?! We came early and they allowed us to leave cases in luggage room. Gave advice regarding which trams/ buses etc to get to central part of Amsterdam. Room was nice and clean. Only problem was one night the tv screen went blank and would not switch off but we were going out so it didn't matter too much. Oh, and one part of the dresser was broken. Beds made everyday and towels changed if needed. I liked the idea of the option to reuse or change your towels, very green!! View from room window was of an office building but that was no problem as we only slept there. Didn't expected fields of tulips! Didn't use the restaurant. Seemed a bit pricey in comparison to what you could get around the area. KFC just around the corner and loads of cafes and restaurants to choose from just a short tram ride away. On leaving they let us leave cases again in luggage room so we could whizz around the shops one last time without trailing them around which is ideal. And we stayed in the reception for a few hours using the free wifi before getting a taxi to the airport and that was no problem. The staff were OK with that. Nothing seemed to be a problem for them. Would defo stay here again.

    3
    « Standard »

Hotel was clean and staff are all friendly and helpful, only thing is I would stay closer to the dam square when I go again, as this was about 15/20 mins away by tram and buss but the stops were a stone throw away from the hotel. Taxis around about 25 euro. overall nothing was wrong with the hotel, you are hardly in the hotel anyway! it was a good base to stay.

  • 4
    « Nice hotel »

Nice clean hotel, friendly staff and good spacious rooms. Supermarket and various other shops are nearby. My only quibble is that the hotel is a bit out from the city centre and it wouldn't be feasible to walk in and out but public transport links are nearby. That being said, I've been here twice as it was so nice the first time.

    4
    « Very good!! »

Slight hiccup on arrival, managed to check in really early and was put in a standard room, I knew we had booked an executive room so went downstairs and checked. There wasn't really apology and then we was moved into a executive room. The bathroom wasn't as big and outstanding as I expected from photos but still a lovely room!! A male on the reception desk was staff member that stood out for being very helpful! Paid €26.50 for a 5 day travel pass which is worth it! A few complaints about being dirty but didn't find this a problem whatsoever, room cleanliness was outstanding, the cleaner (I think named Eve) was brilliant and nothing was a problem for her!! Thank you! ate in the restaurant, food was great although the menu could of been better and more known foods. But that may be just us being fussy! Only pain we found really was location of hotel, if you want somewhere quiet and don't mind travelling into centre then perfect but it is about a 15 min tram ride into centre! Also €10 an hour to have your room later on the day your leaving seemed very expensive. All said and done found a brilliant hotel, worth the money, if only was more central!

« one of the worst hotels ive stayed in »

How this is a four star hotel i have no idea ! upon arrival we was allowed to check -in early which was nice but after that it went down hill from there. The first room me and my friends were put in was on the 3rd floor at first glace it didn't see to bad apart from being old fashioned , upon closer inspection i found toenail clippings all over the floor and hairs in my bed , my friend also found reddish stains on her bedding. The room also had no safe all though stated there was a safe in each room. If you get put on the back of the hotel on the 3rd floor you look straight into offices and they can see into your bathroom as not all of the window in tinted so id suggest keeping the curtains closed in there at all times. we complained to reception who told us to move rooms which we took them up on there offer of but there was no real apology about the state of the room., we got moved to a room on the 5th floor in this room nothing improved there was a massive sick stain on the carpet. The next day after we had been out in the town center we came back into our room and my friend went into the bathroom to find the ceiling had started cracking and water was seeping through all over out floor , so we complained once again and got moved rooms again but still no real apology was made. This time we got moved up to the 7th floor and in this room the hairdryer didn't work nor did our safe. We had 3 rooms in this hotel and none of them were to a good standard. One night we also went down to another room which some of other other friends was in. we used the lift and there was a used sanitary towel in the lift !!! I have never been disgusted in my life. They had also found hairs and stains in there bed as well. This hotel is also not that close to the center so if your looking to be able to walk into the center i wouldn't choose this hotel. The evening meal prices in this hotel are also really expensive so id choose to try and find one in the center , which you can catch the number 14 tram or the 21 bus into town. Upon check out no apology was made and no refund was offered for the inconvenience of moving rooms twice in our 3 night stay here which i am appalled at. The staff done seem to be bothered about any complaints you have and its all most to much trouble for them to help you. Over all i wouldn't recommend this hotel at all its dirty and the staff are unhelpful.

    « Enjoyable Few Days »

Just come back from an enjoyable few days in Amsterdam at the Best Western Blue Tower hotel. For those, like myself, that like to know where they are heading here are my tips. When you get to Schiphol airport follow the signs for the station. You can either buy a ticket from the yellow ticket machines (pay by euro coins or chip and pin cards). The machines are easy to use and they have a translation button (to English). If you only have euro notes or want to know the times and platforms you can go to the ticket office and speak to an adviser. If you buy a ticket from the ticket office a €1 surcharge will be made. You can then either get a train to Amsterdam Sloterdijk or Amsterdam Central both tickets cost the same € 4.20. We went to Amsterdam Sloterdijk, came out of the station, turned right, walked across the bridge and down the steps to where the buses were. You need to get a number 15 (direction Zuid) and ask for stop Bos en Lommerplein. When you get off the bus turn right and you will see the top of the hotel in front and slightly to your right. You are actually looking at the back of the hotel so you need to cross the main road, cross the market square and then either go left (by the barrier and through the car park) then right. Or cross the square, turn right, down some steps and the left and left again. We found the hotel very adequate for our stay. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and the room clean, with tea and coffee making facilities and plenty of toiletries. If you haven't got breakfast included you can pay €10 per day (if booked in advance) I think it was €12 if not. There is a large and well stocked supermarket just around the corner should you have forgotten anything. We purchased the 2 day bus/tram pass from reception at €12.50 and found it a really good deal. It is activated the first time you swipe it as you get on the tram. Just remember to swipe when you get off the tram or it becomes obsolete and won't work. To get to the tram stop, come out of the hotel, turn right and then right again, walk up the road until you see the KFC on the corner, turn right again and the tram stop is in the middle of the road on you left. You need a number 14 tram for the Dam (Anne Frank's house is 2 stops before the Dam) or a number 21 to Central Station. The trams run every 10-15 minutes so not a lot of hanging around. There is a night bus from the city centre back to the hotel for those ?night owls' amongst you but I have no idea of its times or number. I will defiantly be returning to Amsterdam as there is so much to do and see.

    4
    « thumbs up »

Bos en Lommerplein (tram and bus station) a stones throw away, lots of restaurants located close by, a daily market set-up ( you will have to walk through it to get to the hotel. free wifi, comfortable room, well kept and clean

    « Average hotel »

Location was a bit far from main Amsterdam. As an English speaking westerner, you will get weird looks walking through the surrounding neighborhood. Transit was near enough to walk and get to the center of town. Room was decent size and comfortable. Staff was friendly but was unfamiliar with transit to the airport.

Great hotel with great transport links on the doorstep. Clean and spacious room, we had corner room and had panoramic Windows all across and in the bathroom. Supermarket within walking distance. Stored our luggage, great hotel, as expected for what we paid, would definitely stay here again.

    « Birthday Treat »

Our first trip to Dam & we would return in an instant. This hotel is only 10/15 mins by tram (10 stops) into Dam Square, so ideal if you want to be away from the hustle & bustle. It's clean & our room was nice. We had a panoramic view of streets & the market, so was very pleased with this upgrade. (Room 707) The staff were helpful, & I had managed to book a surprise 'breakfast in bed' Via email prior to our stay, for my husbands birthday. Once again, this seemed to be no effort. I did pay €48.50 for the privilege, & ordered it for 10.30am as we had lots booked on the 25/1. By 11am no breakfast, I called reception whilst trying to keep a secret from my (now impatient) husband, & I was told that the room number was written down incorrectly. They apologised & said breakfast would be with me in a few moments. 30 minutes later it arrived, after reception had called the room & spoken to my husband, who now knew that something wasn't right!! Surprise ruined, plans delayed! I was offered late check out, complimentary the next day, as an apology. Had the error not occurred, our stay would have been faultless. Clean, tidy, friendly & a convenient location for return flights home.

    « 4 star Hotel?????!!!!!!! »

My friend and I stayed in Best Western for 4 nights, the cleanning was terrible (they just did 4times our bed with the same sheets the entire stay), the kettle didn't work, we never had new and clean toals, there's no mini-bar at the room, recepcionists not that helpfull and definitively not the treinee. The breakfast was good.

    « Value for money. »

First of all I'm surprised at the poor and very poor reviews, unless the hotel has made dramatic changes! My friend and I stayed for 3 nights over the weekend. Room was very clean and actually quite classy. Tv in our room was big and the shower was good. The distance to Amsterdam was 15 mins max. on a tram. A ticket for trams/trains and buses for 24 hours cost 7.50 euros. The hotel staff were great especially the blond lady who was absolutely lovely. We were able to buy tickets for the Heineken experience and the ice bar at hotel. Staff were all helpful. I also felt security was good as staff have to buzz you in at all times. Overall very good and there is a KFC very close!

    « Not a 4 star hotel »

Stayed here with my boyfriend for his birthday and am not one bit impressed. This hotel is not for people who have came to Amsterdam to have a good time, never once have I seen anyone at the reception have a smile and I have been down enough considering that I had to go down twice within 2 days because my keys stopped working and couldn't get into my room and again because housekeeping took our spare key. Also this hotel does not serve alcohol at all which is not very clear before staying here as it is called a bar/restaurant and the professional photos show the likes of jack Daniels and wine? Also I know that not everyone can have a nice view when staying in such a busy city but they could atleast clean up all of the rubbish that is lying outside our first floor room things such as empty toilet rolls and 100's of cigarette butts aren't things that I am wanting to look at first thing in the morning so I have had the curtains pulled all of our stay. Also a lot of the furniture in the room is broken or badly marked, large hole in the grill/grid in our bathroom making it almost impossible to get to the bathroom discreetly the only savour for our room was that the restaurant bathroom was straight across the hall so we ended up using them most of the time. Also there has been an awful off smell coming from our toilet since arrival can't forget to put the toilet seat down or it will linger in the bathroom and into the room because of the broken grid. And the restaurant isn't open everyday and there are no other bars meaning that I had to go to the shop next door to get some juice. Don't feel like this is acceptable at all especially from a '4 star hotel' WILL NOT be staying here again. This hotel has ruined the mood of a happy birthday get away

    « It was ok »

Situated out of town but really easy public transport into the city centre. We chose to get a 4 day travel card for €21.50 which we brought from reception and we used trams and buses for it, well worth the money. The hotel is ok, welcome and information from reception could have been better, they didn't even explain to us how to get to our room. We chose to include breakfast when booking as it was €10 per person per day otherwise, and I'm glad we did include it as it wasn't worth €10! Not very many hot options, and the quality of the food wasn't very good. Staff were continuously on their mobile phones and talking loudly between themselves which isn't very professional. The room was of an ok standard, bit tired, but I've stayed in worse! The shower kept flooding so it was knee high and took a while to drain. You could only use the hairdryer on he lowest setting as it kept short cutting on the higher one, so it took me ten times as long to dry my hair. There were days when we the room wasn't services and we had to call down to get replacement tea and coffee. We decided to try the saffron restaurant at the hotel one night as we had a long day, the menu looked slightly expensive but nice. We expected to go in to the restaurant and with it be really busy but it was literally empty, with no-one else in there (this always makes me slightly anxious) the food was not worth the cost, the drinks order wasn't correct, and not all of the extras came with the meals. The entrance revolving door gets stopped at night time so you have to wait and press the buzzer for someone to let you in which is quite annoying when it's raining and freezing cold. Overall it was ok, I would stay again but only if it was cheap!

« Stay closer to the city center »

It was so dirty, I did not want to walk on the rug even with my shoes on. The bathtub had not been cleaned and it looked like someone had urinated in it. The staff was not very accommodating and made us feel like we were being too picky.

« Decent hotel for weekend away »

This hotel was booked as it was a reasonable price and fairly close to the city centre as well as being a trusted name in best western. The hotel is not bad, it has a nice clean bright lobby and friendly staff who issued us with a map showing us how to use the public transport to get into the city centre. The rooms were clean and had a good bathroom. It was in a good location in terms of public transport only a few min walk to both tram and bus stop stops. All in all I would recommend anyone to stay here it is basic but perfectly acceptable for a long weekend away.

    « Good Value Hotel »

Booked hotel + flight with British Airways. At the time of booking the hotel was a good deal. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bar does not serve alcohol and we did not use the restaurant. The hotel is not very close to the city centre, however there are good tram and bus services directly to the city centre area (bus 21 and tram 14). Our room was clean, and the tv had a good variety of channels.

    2
« Good but bad last day »

Hotel was nice and staff were good. However we were double charged for the room by mistake and only giving a refund on the last day but because it was card (takes 3-5 days for money to come back) we were left with a minus balance on our last day in Amsterdam. We were just told mistakes happen (because the staff member was a trainee) and offered a free lunch pack. After much debate I managed to get myself and my partner a taxi to the airport. The hotel was nice but this experience ruined our last day.

« Cant realistically fault it. »

Reception were expecting us on arrival, staff were fluent with English and very welcoming. Our rooms were very pleasant and if you have a corner room higher up, you get quite lovely city views spanning the length of the bath and bedrooms. Free wifi throughout the hotel and very comfortable beds. The hotel had very close transfer links to the city centre and a mini-supermarket around the corner. Would stay here again.

    « Poor matenaince »

The customer service is so good, breakfast good, the hotel rooms are dusty, ugly old furniture, Cigarretes everywhere, stain on the walls, dust everywhere, i think that they dont clean the rooms. Hairs in every part of the bathroom, discusting place.

« Only Blue on the outside Mk2. »

Stayed in this hotel for four nights in mid November 2015.Second time to stay here ,hence the review title. Before booking I read the Trip Advisor reviews(natch)and was struck by the amount of negative comments in these reviews .However ,the price was too good to pass up and as I already had experience of this hotel I decided to take a chance . I was not disappointed .fast and friendly check in, a room on the 6th floor ,happy days . Room was spacious ,adequate wardrobe space ,tea and coffee making facilities ,large flat screen TV,room safe (free),comfortable beds and pillows. Bathroom was large with some complimentary toiletries ,underfloor heating ,plenty of hot water and towels .The standard of cleaning was exemplary . If I may be allowed one negative ,the room furniture desk ,lockers etc were glass topped and at times the dusting was a little sub standard .Dont think this is going to spoil anyones stay in Amsterdam . There is a restaurant in the hotel which serves breakfast ,and dinner .I didnt use this but from reading the in-room menu ,prices were reasonable ,though breakfast at 10 euro may be a little steep .There are a number of cafes in the vicinity. All in all a very pleasant stay in this nice hotel .Reception staff gave us maps and advice on travel and were friendly and helpful . The hotel is on a number of tram and bus routes ,we used No,21 bus from area F opposite Centraal station and is convenient for bus routes to Rijksmuseum and Haarlem ,a small town well worth a visit . We enjoyed our stay here and would return.

« Good Hotel all round »

The location is great. The rooms are spacious and clean and don't look worn out at all. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. There really isn't a single bad point I could mention here. Wifi service was good throughout and free unlike many other hotels in Europe. No hesitation to recommend this Hotel..

    « Value of money »

We booked 3 room in total with very reasonable price, room is clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and speak well in English. 2 supermarket nearby, easy to buy anything you want. Even a bit far from city but is convenient to take tram or bus. The staff provide us guidance, no worry about which tram or bus we have to take to go some tourist attractions and return. Take the shuttle bus for airport transfer, not so costly. Will return for next future.

    « Excellent Hotel! »

Me and my Boyfriend visited The Blue Tower Hotel for a few nights December 2015, The staff were very welcoming and spoke perfect English. The rooms couldn't have been better, very clean, and a decent size, the ensuite was also in perfect condition! Perfect location, it was about an hours walk into the centre, but with all the scenery and shops along the way, it didn't feel that long! There was also a supermarket and bakery just next to the hotel. We would both stay at this hotel again, and would definitely recommend it!

    3
« Ok but bit disappointing »

Visited this hotel in Sept with 7 of my staff. Rooms are a bit out dated but adequate. We had 3 rooms booked in total and all were of similar standard. Reception staff were very friendly and offered help with directions etc. We found the bar and were disappointed to find it did not sell alcohol. There was no mention of this on the website so we were a bit disappointed. Breakfast was good with lots of choice. Hotel location is a bit out of town but the tram stop is just around the corner with excellent service to Dam Square etc. Overall if you are looking for luxury and somewhere to unwind after a day out sightseeing then this hotel is probably not for you. It is adequate for travellers on a budget but you need to factor the travelling in and out of the centre when trams stop running at midnight.

« Good value, clean, but restaurant needs a drinks licence! »

I am currently staying at the hotel. I have an executive room on the 8th floor. The room is fine, clean, and comfortable. The staff I have found to be polite and more than helpful. Adjoining rooms - why do I always attract noisy neighbours who insist on slamming doors at 4am? What would be a good nights sleep ruined by inconsiderate guests. Breakfast had a good choice, but things , mainly the cooked breakfast, could have been hotter. My main moan, was the evening meal restaurant. It's a very nice restaurant, but my wife and I were the only people in there! WHY - pay attention management. This may be a Muslim owned hotel, but why is it necessary for guests to be unfit to have alcohol? I expect, as an adult, not to be dictated to, or have imposed on me, the will of someone else, that I cannot even have a glass of wine with my meal!! I travel regularly to Egypt, and accept it, but this is a European hotel. Make the alcohol free conditions VERY clear in your website, if you wish this policy. Do you not wonder why your restaurant is almost empty every night? Why have a bar? Bottles are all alcohol free! Why does room information say you serve a fine glass of wine in the lounge? When is alcohol free wine fine by 99% of the population? What would be a pleasant place to stay, is blighted by such action. The hotel is situated well out of the city centre, but bus and tram access is excellent, just at the rear of the hotel. 16 euro for a three day unlimited pass. Airport to hotel by taxi, about 40 euro - not cheap. Overall, great value for money. Just a shame about the alcohol situation. There are one or two restaurants and bars around that make up for it - even on a rainy night.

    « Perfect for a quick trip »

If you want to see Amsterdam and not spend all of your holiday money on accommodation then this is a great place to stay. It is about 20 minutes from Dam Square but the local transport is reliable and the staff at the hotel are more than happy to help with directions. Rooms are big and some offer a good view of the city (depending on which floor you're on and which side) they could have been cleaned slightly better on arrival but it was such a small niggle that we over looked it. I would stay here again!

    5
« Brilliant value for money »

Yeah it's a bit out but that's not a bad thing as you get to see more on your travels. The number 21 bus goes from outside central station by the canal cruises to the stop Bos en Lommerplien (not the other Bos en Lommerwen 2 stops before) and the bus driver will direct you to the hotel about a minute walk away. Then to get to the centre take the 14 tram which goes to dam square, Ann Frank house and the red light district. The number 7 tram takes you to the museum's and Heineken experience. Rooms are fantastic, and the breakfast is exceptional,a choice of everything from cereals and yogurts, pastries to full cooked breakfast, plus an endless amount of real fresh coffee and tea. Stay here you won't be disappointed! We're definitely returning.

« Quite a way of of the City Centre »

Stayed here for 2 nights in December for a Xmas city break. We decided to walk from the station to the hotel and arrived after an hours March. Beautiful city with so much to do. Such a friendly city. The hotel was ok. Comfortable but a bit far out. Had to get a 24hr bus&tram pass which was good and got the number 21 to central station or a 14 to Dam Square. Approx 20 mins each way. Oh yeah. Nearly forgot! The lifts in the hotel take an age to arrive! Just incase you fancy breakfast there! Leave plenty of time

« Short break with friends »

Lovely clean hotel, staff helpful, room nice and quiet. Enjoyed a short break here in November, location out of town but no problem as buses/trams running 24 hours a day. Did not eat in hotel as we were out and about in city, also plenty of shops/coffee shops/KFC etc in close proximity including the market in the square.

    « good hotel »

We loved staying in this hotel, everything was clean, reception staff was ok, breakfast waiters nice. I just did not like the fruit given for breakfast, looked a bit rotten.i was surprised how the cucumber were cut, too thick (i worked for a 5 * hotel so maybe I am more demanding) ;) the only think which actually shocked me> in the bar they do not sell alcohol :)..otherwise nice stay

« Better than expected from reading the reviews on here »

Read reviews after booking and was dreading arriving at the hotel. We were late checking in as plane delayed but I emailed to say we would not be here for a few hours and the staff were fine about this. We were greeted with a warm welcome by reception staff, myself and my partner were hungry when we got here (1am) and the restaurant on site was closed the receptionist gave us menu to order fast food, he telephoned the order in for us and rang the phone in our room to tell us the delivery had arrived. The bed was very comfortable, clean fresh towels, toiletries, bedding a little dirty and surfaces a bit dusty but nothing to complain about as the holiday only cost us £238 for two nights inc flights so can't grumble really. Only need to get our heads down in the place for so wasn't fussed. Upon arrival we were offered breakfast in the mornings which we accepted at a price of ten euros each. Nothing exciting at all, would give it a swerve next time if we stay again. There's so much more places to eat locally and out in Amsterdam centre. The hotel does not serve alcohol but there is a supermarket next door that has a good range of spirits, wines and beers etc. Overall a pleasant enjoyable stay, very helpful staff, good public transport links on the doorstep! :-)

« Great hotel and lovely staff »

Was only here for a short stay but was made very welcomed and staff helped in every way possible, rooms were cleaned daily and a continental breakfast was available for 10 euros each which wasn't bad for the stuff that was available, I would recommend this hotel to both family and friends.

    3
« Comfortable clean hotel, not central »

The hotel itself is clean and comfortable with the usual facilities in the room such as kettle, tea, coffee and a hair dryer. You also get peace to sleep. The staff at reception are very helpful. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. The hotel itself is not close to Dam Sq or Central Station so you have to use the trams and buses all the time although they are very regular and the stop is close to the hotel. The reception staff will give you a map and it also tells you what tram and buses to get. Also ask for a pass for a few days as this is cheaper rather than paying for a single fare every time. Personally I wouldn't stay here as it's not very central for tourists.

    3
    « Average hotel »

Some of the furniture needs a bit of love- scratches, discoloration need to be looked at. Few stains on the carpet, linnen had a hole in it. Breakfast average, cooked items we're barely warm. Overall, not a bad stay, but next time would pick a different hotel.

    « Great visit »

We stayed at the Blue Tower Hotel for five nights. The hotel lobby is very well presented and we were speedily checked in. Our room was a good size and very clean, bathroom was spotless. Only complaint with the room was we had two single beds pushed together which was rather uncomfortable for us. I could have complained and moved but I was tired and wanted to lie down instead of complain. The breakfast was very good, lots of choices for the fussiest of people. The hotel is a 20 minute ride from the Amsterdam centre. I would recommend getting a ticket for as long as you are there as they can add up if you are travelling daily. The bus is number 21 and the tram which is slightly cheaper is number 14 that run till midnight but there is a night bus number 352 which runs through the night We didn't eat an evening meal at the hotel mainly because there was no bar as they have no licence to sell alcohol. I found this a little strange, I'm no big drinker but as I was on holiday it world have been nice. I'd definitely recommend the hotel it was ideal for us!

    « Overnight to catch a boat »

This hotel was perfect. after reading the reviews i was sceptical but it was very comfortable, lovely staff and the food in the restaurant of this hotel was amazing. I had a wonderful stay and i very much enjoyed it.

    « Value for money »

Good hotel, neat rooms, spacious bathroom with bath tub and shower. Only thing is the lobby appears congested or claustrophobic as compared with India hotels. Good connectivity by bus along with good continental breakfast even for vegetarians like many from india. Would recommend it for budget travel.

« Lovely stay!! Well recommended!! »

Well just got back from a long weekend in Amsterdam, and what can I Say? I thoroughly enjoyed it :) the best western blue tower hotel was a great choice, and I definitely recommend it if you visit Amsterdam. I booked this hotel last minute as it was the cheapest I could find near to the centre at such short notice, I was very impressed how I managed to book such a bargain 4 star hotel for the price I paid! On arrival I was pleasantly surprised by the great, friendly service behind the reception, and felt very welcomed into this hotel. On first glance it looks very modern and classy inside and is also kept very clean inside the lobby area. Once we got to the room, we were to find a very clean, spacious place to stop in for the weekend with no complaints at all. The bathroom was of decent size and was newly fitted, the beds were very comfortable and the sheets looked brand new and we also had cleaners visit every day to make up the beds, replace tea and coffee for us. The location of this hotel is not in the centre but ideally the tram that takes you right to the centre of Amsterdam is located just over the road fro. The hotel. We used to catch the number '21' bus every day for only €2.90 a trip, drops you right in the centre and runs till around midnight. Overall we loved our stay here and would definitely visit again! Thank you for making our trip and enjoyable one!

« What a lovely city lovely people »

Just returned from a short break in Amsterdam. Stayed in the Best Western Blue Tower, approximately 20 minutes from the city centre, though transport (trams) all seem to stop in the City centre. Lovely interesting city. So many shops I'm still trying to work out how they make their money. They even have C&A's. The Dutch are by far superior when it comes to transport housing design and urban development. Lovely helpful people always happy to help. A fun city!

Appaulled by the way we were treated, we came all the way from England and you told us our room had been cancelled because you double booked and we turnt up late. Then you gave us a double room for 4 people?? We also missed our flight because you told us our taxi was coming soon which it didn't and the lady behind the desk told us it took 10 minutes to get to the airport when it woes 25! Would never stay there again!

    « Very nice stay »

Our regular hotel was fully booked so we decided to stay at Blue Tower. We really enjoyed it. Nice staff, clean rooms, very close to shops, KFC, trams, buses(albo night bus). Its a little bit difficult to find entrance to the hotel and the reception doesn't look too nice but that's not really the most important. Next time where we go to Amsterdam, we definately will stay at this place

    4
« Great for the price but... »

The price of the hotel is great but... we got to the hotel at night and I have to say it is very difficult trying to find the hotel without a map in the dark. The area at night is a bit creepy but it's okay in the day. The only real food shop nearby open at night was KFC. The hotel staff had our room prepared but the decor of the room is a little outdated having said that the bathroom was very nice. The buffet breakfast was better than I expected so I would recommend it to anyone. There are not many shops around so I think it's best to have breakfast at the hotel before leaving for the day. It's very easy to get to Dam Square from the hotel. Just take the number 14 tram. I do think it's better to get a hotel in the city centre if you want to only explore the centre during your trip.

    3
    « Good »

The room was nice and clean. An reasonable size aswell. We had a nice bathroom very clean and big but i would suggest getting an air vent because it would get very hot and steamy while showering with no way to air it out so the bathroom was consistently hot. It was nice that the staff came to check on you to see if everything was alright but some days they would let themselves in which wasnt very nice for us but i guess that was our fault for not locking our door from the inside, but apart from that i had a lovely stay very friendly staff they helped us get around told us about the attractions how to get to places and even gave us discount cards on some of amsterdam biggest attractions. The breakfast was alright got a good variety of food, i feel like i got my money worth. Overall a good experience at The Best Western i would definitely book here again

    3
    « Basic but ok »

Far from the city centre which isn't bad as it's a mere 20 mins by tram outside the hotel. Big rooms, nice beds and plump pillows. Good facilities but in need of a makeover really as very old fashioned. Needs new carpets and paintwork. Lots of tea, coffee and toiletries. Restaurant stupidly over priced for breakfasts so outside the hotel door, turn right and a few short steps away is a wonderful bakery with croissants, pastries and bagels at a ridiculously cheap price, just 1 euro each. Overall not a bad budget base for exploring Amsterdam and Zaanstam with the Windmills etc.

    « excellent stay »

My husband and I didn't know what to expect as never been to Amsterdam! Last minute booking as we had booked to go to Venice and the travel agents messed up! Hotel was lovely, clean and very friendly helpful staff. We couldn't get our safe to work so they kept are valuables in there safe while we were out and then fixed the safe. Trams and buses run very frequently and found the people very helpful. No problems at all and felt safer than being in London! Would defently stay again :) staff even arranged taxi to airport.

    4
« Spacious room with great views. »

The hotel is a 10 min tram/bus ride from the city centre and a awkward 15 walk from a local train station. I arrived late in the evening to be given a spacious room with fabulous views of Amsterdam. The staff gave some good info about getting into town and it was still easy to get into the centre using public transport at 11pm. The rooms had all what you would expect from a 3/4 star hotel. Breakfast was In a spacious area which provided some great choices and was overall great value.

    5
    « Brilliant value »

Me and my partner stayed her and it's a nice clean friendly hotel! The staff were helpful there's a shop near by that sells everything so if you did fancy a night kap the shop is near by also so was kfc. The area it's self is a little out of the centre but it's not that bad tram right outside every 10mins or so me and my fiancé never found it difficult what so ever. If you want more central a lot of those places are hostels and I'm not sharing a bathroom with anyone. I would definitely stay here again it's brilliant value for money get a rail card like we did it cost £26 euros if not less to use the trams unlimited and if is worth it. The run all the time so when you think about it, it's cheaper to stay here then central Amsterdam plus the hotel is a chain do your not going to the ghetto they took very good care of us. Would deafo visit again x

« DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY »

I have just getting back from my stay at the best Western hotel and how this hotel has a 4 star rating is beyond me, our first night and check in was okay and then on our second night we went back to our rooms for showerd and got ready for the night out in the center left about 8 o'clock in the evening arrived back at the hotel at 00.50 so at 10 to 1 in the morning goes upto our room outs our card in to open the door as normal hoes to go into my locked suitcase and the locks had been CUT OFF BOTH MINE AND MY FRIENDS CASES AND HAD OVER 1.000 EUROS IN TOTAL STOLEN FROM OUR BAGS went down to the reception, baring in mind there is only 1 member of night staff present no security and anybody can just walk in off the street, we got the police and filed a report but as the hotel goes I got nothing but attitude and cheek, the incident happened on sat day night and THE MANAGER WOULDN'T EVEN COME INTO THE HOTEL TO LOOK AT THE CCTV UNTIL MONDAY GAVE US 2 FREE BREAKFAST WHICH WERE HORRIBLE I WOULD ADVISE TO ANY 1 THINKING OF BOOKING THIS HOTEL BEWARE PPL CAN GET INTO YOUR ROOMS AND IF YOU HAVE YOUR MONEY IN THE SAFE THE FACT THAT ANYBODY CAN JUST WALK IN A HOTEL KICK THE DOOR OPEN STEAL ALL YOUR MONEY AND THE HOTEL TO NOT DO A THING IS AN ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES BEWARE BEWARE, ALSO CHECKED OTHER DOORS AND LOCKS AND SEEMS LIKE IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS BEEN DONE PROBABLY GOES ON ALL THE TIME AND SOME POOR PPL WON'T EVEN REALISE

« Good hotel, but bad location »

We stayed in this hotel for three days, the hotel is far away from airport or Amsterdam city center, but you can take tram or bus to get to the city center or train to get to airport. The hotel staff was not so good at communicating with tourists. Rooms was dirty, but we had a hot tub in our bathroom and bed was comfy. There is nice pub near the hotel where you can feel like local. Near the hotel is supermarket, fast food snack bar. We used local transport to get to the city center, we bought i love Amsterdam city card, so we used local transport with this card for free.

    3
« No alcohol is served here »

Our rooms were clean, staff were friendly and helpful, but the restaurant does not serve alcohol. Its a bit of a way out of the city centre and we wanted to get a beer after we arrived back from a day of sightseeing. Also, there is nowhere else nearby to go for a drink.

  • 4
    « Good basic hotel »

About 30 min. from airport by Connexion hotel shuttle. In SW area. Quiet, clean, comfortable. Close to market, ATM, several restaurants, tram. Good buffet breakfast. Hotel restaurant closed Sun. dinner but staff recommended good Turkish restaurant nearby. Safe in room located on floor rather than a shelf which made it awkward to use. Easy to take tram to center of city. Good value for price.

    3
« Served us for a nights sleep »

bit date wouldn't stay there for more than one night, location is a bit for out of the center if you plan to still be out after midnight. Taxi was the only option which was quite expensive 50 euros on top. But is fine for a stop over other than that.

    3
« Nice hotel, but too far out! »

When we arrived at Amsterdam got a taxi to the hotel, the taxi driver told us that the hotel is far out town and we would need to use public transport to get in. The first trip into the city we got the tram, number 14 or 7. My advice would be to buy a 24 hour or 48 hour ticket to save money on the tram, rather than lots of 1 hour tickets. On the way back that night after a few drinks decided to get a taxi back because we were unsure as to where we were, however the taxi driver didn't know where our hotel was and spent around an hour driving around different suburbs of the city. By the second day we got the handle on the trams and public transport, however the money you save booking this hotel you spend on transport to and from the city. My advice get a more expensive hotel near the city centre.

« Clean and basic, enough for a city break! »

My friend and I decided we wanted to visit Amsterdam and the Blue Tower hotel came up on our search. We did have a read of previous reviews before booking but it didn't put us off too much but we had our reservations before arrival. Upon arrival we were surprised with the presentation of the lobby bar. The Reception staff were very attentive and check-in was very quick. We were allocated a room on the top floor of the hotel with views of the city in the distance. We knew we were staying outside the city centre but this didn't phase us. We quickly located tram and bus stops and purchased tickets for ?7.50 for 24 hours travel. We used the 21 service, which took us right into Centraal Station. The hotel room was more than sufficient for a two night stay as there were tea/coffee making facilities as well as a large flat screen TV. The beds were comfortable too. The bathroom was very big and there were toiletries included as well as clean towels each day. The safe was free to use in the room, which was an added benefit. The lifts do only go up to the 10th floor so be aware the stairs are steep up to the 11th floor. A pleasant stay and a hotel I would recommend if you like to get away from the hustle and bustle of a city centre. The area surrounding the hotel is mostly residential but there are a few restaurants as well as fast food chains too. Don't let reviews put you off, make up your own mind.

« Nice hotel in a handy but indifferent location »

This is a really nice hotel, with helpful and friendly staff, large and comfortable (double) rooms, and quite a good breakfast on offer (though quite stodgy bulk-prepared scrambled eggs), but unfortunately the hotel's location is rather nondescript. Nothing interesting in the area and only a few restaurants, but mostly of the fast-food type. But trams do pass nearby and the hotel is handy to/from the airport--only about 10 kms--and to the Sloterdijk railway station, minutes away on Tram #12.

« Most things below Standard »

The Hotel is in a very poor area. a considerable distance from Amsterdam. They failed to mention on booking that they had lost their liquor liscence, so no bar or wine with meals. Also they failed to say that on Sundays even their restaurant is closed, dispite all in house information saying that it is open 7 days a week. Because of the poor surrounding area there was no other good places the eat or drink. Thank heavens for a supermarket next door !!! Service in the restaunt for Breakfast was poor because there were insufficint staff. If you stayed in, the TV chanels were intermittent for british programmes. Rooms just acceptable, but not helped by a large pillar running throught the centre of the room. The staff however try hard to be helpfull and courteous. I would not under any circumstances use the hotel again. Pauline 2146

« You get what you pay for »

Pretty stock standard hotel - clean, and comfortable. Location is average - not in the nicest part of town, and about 15 mins to the centre of the city (by public transport). Funny smell in the corridors on the fifth floor (where we were). Thought this might have been a day one thing - but the smell remained for our entire stay. Smoke alarms also seemed to go off quite often (not in our room, but the ones around us). Hotel management assured us that this was from the steam from the shower.. Slightly annoying being woken up by a blaring alarm though. All in all, decent enough stay. Would recommend something closer to the city, however if you want to be a little removed from the noisy part of Amsterdam, for a reasonable price, it's the place to go.

« You get what you pay for... »

Prior to staying at the Blue Tower hotel I e-mailed to request for a high floor city view. Yaiza from front office very kindly replied & said our request would be subject to availability. Upon arrival, check-in was swift & we were allocated a room on the 11th floor, number 1106. First impressions of the room was it was a little dated but sufficient enough & certainly big enough for our 2 night stay in the city. The room had all the necessary amenities - tea & coffee making facilities, approximately 8-10 hangers, a safe & huge flat screen TV. The free Wi-Fi worked perfectly fine & was fast. We managed to get full signal right up on the 11th floor without problems. The bathroom - it's huge, no complaints of mould, it was very clean. Toiletries were provided & there is a hair dryer provided. Towels were changed daily. The shower is very powerful but the water temperature could quickly change & scald you. My only complaint about the bathroom was the smell of the drains overnight. It was repugnant! The hotel room walls are paper thin & I was loudly woken by our neighbours at 01:30 one night! Saffron restaurant/bar appeared to be closed on Sunday evening even though it was supposed to be open until 22:00/22:30. Breakfast on Monday was absolute bedlam. We went down for our complimentary breakfast at around 08:30 - there was a queue for tables with dirty dishes left lying around. I had to ask a staff member twice to replenish the glasses as we could not get a drink. After a 20 minute wait we were finally able to have a drink with our breakfast. Selection wise I couldn't fault the breakfast as there was something for everyone. Breakfast on Tuesday was a much more calm approach as we had a later breakfast around 10:00. There's a lot of improvement needed during peak times though. The lobby bar wasn't open during our 2 day stay which was surprising as the lobby area is a nice relaxing place with a lot of people passing through! Location wise we knew the hotel was a little out of town, this didn't phase us too much. Reception staff were happy to help tourists find their feet & there's plenty of maps around in reception too. You can hire bikes from reception for a daily fee. We located the bus/tram line one block behind the BTH. The 21 bus service took us directly to Centraal Station/Damrak, they're every 10 minutes & you can purchase a 24 hour ticket on board for around 7 euros. All in all the hotel was better than the reviews I'd read prior to travelling & I would suggest people form their own opinions, you really do get what you pay for & it's not half bad.

« Review Best Western Blue Tower Hotel »

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Reception was very helpful in everyway. Some small issues with room, (caused by a previous guest!), but sorted promptly by Hotel. Only had breakfasts at hotel but these were excellent value and all you could eat! A little way out but transport links very good. Would stay again.

« Comfortable but away from downtown »

The hotel in itself is comfortable if you don't except a lot. Plus: close to the tram and bus station and some restaurants and groceries. Free wifi (that rarely connects). Minus: Far from downtown. Staff not always friendly or helpful. Too much furniture in the small room. Bathroom too cramped up.

The room was nice. But we requested a twin size bed. And we had 2 single size beds instead. The beds kept moving apart during the night. Next to that we had a late checkout because we visited a ADE event until 8 in the morning. But the cleaning service disturbed our sleep from 13.30 to 16.00. The rest of the service was allright

    « Good hotel but.. »

The location is not so good it takes 20 minutes in the bike or train to get to the center area.I think the price are bit high for this location. Anyway the rooms are very good and the Staff are nice as well. Good place to stay if u find a good deal!

    « Unreliable »

I stayed at the hotel for 4 days during a big European congress. The first day we had ordered a taxi for 7:15am through reception but was late and had to ask the reception again to check and reorder a new taxi. By the time the taxi got there it was already 7:35 and therefore we were late to the congress. The receptionist didnt even apologize, behaving as if this was something usual to occur. The last day I left with the reception a ticket for my colleagues and a box of chocolates. When they went at the reception to pick up what i left for them, the reception only gave them the ticket! They NEVER gave the box of chocolates even after my colleagues explicitly asked for it! Which is completely unacceptable!

Pleasant enough neighborhood, though a bit hard to find. Good breakfast. Strange column in room. Rather expensive bike rental - though very convenient. Room was fine, but a bit expensive for a non-central location.

« Unclean and old fashioned »

Stayed at the hotel for two nights in october, waited in reception for hours for room to be cleaned. Eventually went into our room and wasn't impressed, dirty ladies underwear underneath the bed and other rubbish. Shower products given in the bathroom were empty so little bit pointless. Hotel staff are lovely however the old fashioned dirty room just wasn't good enough and wouldn't stay again

    « 3 night stay »

Good value for money, clean and tidy room. Great quality beds and very well sound proofed. Ideal for a short break. We didn't try the breakfast of food service, but it was available if required. Efficient check in service. This hotel is outside of the main tourist area, but the number 14 tram every ~10 minutes or so was very good. We brought a 72 hours rover ticket from the reception unlimited use for 3 days priced at 16 Euros. It took about 15 minutes from this hotel to get to DAM Square. The reception staff where very good and offered a good luggage storage service on the last day for free and secure.

    « Money stolen »

It was coins both sterling and euros which were taken so who puts coins in the safe??????? And mousetrap outside kfc around the corner with dead mouse stuck to it.

    « Average at a push »

Me and my friend (2x 25 year olds) stayed here for two days, as part of an easy jet holiday stay. Location - the hotel is located outside of the city centre. Approximately 15 minutes by tram or bus - there is a metro station near by but we were told not to use this as could become tricky. A 24 hour travel ticket costs about €7 and the stops are pointed out to you if you ask the hotel staff, they will give you a map with these laid out. This hotel is not ideal if you want to make your way backwards and forwards from city centre as can become quite time consuming and tiring - we wish we had stayed somewhere closer to the centre such as the ibis. Room - the room was pretty standard, especially for a four star. Furniture pretty shabby in areas and visible mould in corners - needs a bit of a re-vamp. Room was plenty big enough for the two of us and was equipped with shower, wardrobe space and plenty of mirrors that two twenty somethings need for standard selfies lol. Wifi - does not work, explained to staff who made no attempts to solve the issue. Staff - the two staff we encountered on our first day of the break, were rude and unhelpful. A smile and some service wouldn't have gone a miss at this point. As coming to a new city as newbies can be daunting, when your unsure where to go, etc. The man who works overnight and another girl whom we asked for help late evening, were of better help and at least greeted us. I have to praise the housekeeping staff, who were always smiling and greeted us when we came into contact with them, need to have a strong look at your training when your housekeeping staff show more customer service than the front of house. Transportation - as stated above the tram or bus are the easiest modes of transport to and fro from the city centre and take approximately 15 minutes. Be mindful though, as they do end at midnight and then you will need to get a taxi back - costs about €18. Ask the hotel to book you a taxi from and to airport as our taxi driver was lovely and costs about €40 but from airport the man charged us about €55 - total rip off. All in all, a very standard stay which did not leave any desire to return. Amsterdam is lovely, the hotel not so much.

« Value for Money if Location is not Critical »

Hotel offers value for money. Quality of rooms, housekeeping, breakfast and service are good. Location is not ideal if you want to be visiting the city centre often although you can hire bikes at the hotel or take a tram or bus that gets you into the city centre in 20 minutes.

great room, very quiet, staff friendly and excellent breakfast. Nearby to bus service to the centre or to the museum quartet. Able to but canal and bus tickets at reception. There is also a secure left luggage room.

    « Only right »

All was only fine. Nothing excellent. Location was good using public transport. Staff right but not friendly. Cleanliness was deficient. The worst was the noise during the night. If you go there, please be sure you get a quiet room.
