« Near the center and the leasure area »

Small rooms but price/performance is ok. Friendly staff. Good breakfast buffet. Parking area for loading and anloading the car with luggage should be more monitored because most of the time occupied. Clean rooms.

« Smallest room ever, but friendliest staff! »

Small room, we kept bumping into each other! Very uncomfortable bed which had a mattress topper which had a mind of its own. However the room was clean and warm and we only needed it to sleep in. It was nice to have complimentary iced water in reception also apples! Best of all about this hotel were the fantastic staff. Always happy to help, cheerful and friendly. We walked to the hotel from Central station. The Hard Rock restaurant is just over the road. Along with lots of different restaurants and bars nearby. All the big museums are round the corner so a good location.

    « Amazing, Amazing, Amazing.... »

Partner and I arrived about 10pm on 23rd November...we checked in with a lovely and helpful lady who noticed my partners birthday was on the 25th November and we were given room 711....the room was gorgeous huge comfy bed and the best hotel shower I have ever used...we had breakfast once which was gorgeous a typical continental style everything fresh and super tasty...the hotel is in an amazing location with everything in walking distance...Rijksmuseum and IAmsterdam a stones throw away...we used 197 bus from and to airport for €5 each...I was well aware of the security deposit and had zero problems at all...it was amazing and Amsterdam is soo beautiful we cannot wait to plan our next visit....?????

« Lived in a shoebox for two nights with a leaking shower »

If you enjoy living in a shoebox with barely enough room to turn around in, stay at the best western apollo! Stayed in a double room and booked because the rate was the best in the area, but soon found out exactly why...This place barely qualifies as a hotel as the rooms are so tiny, the shower edges are moldy, and attitude from one particular staff member extremely off-putting. The shower is so poorly designed that there is a gap between the bottom of the door and the floor, but nothing to stop water from flowing from the shower floor to the rest of the bathroom floor, which floods the entire bathroom. Obviously, this would not be an issue if you take 20 second showers, but i took a 5 minute shower and 40% of the entire bathroom was flooded. I had to place towels on the floor to soak up all the excess water, which was not only annoying but very uncomfortable to stand in. The next morning, I went to the front desk to tell them about this issue and a woman at the front desk gave me the oddest look when I told her the situation. She smirked as she assured me I would not be charged any extra fee for a flooded bathroom or wet room. Not surprised this level of service exists in what can only be described as a hotel in barely habitable conditions. My experience was among the worst I have had in a hotel and I would not recommend anyone to stay here unless you're traveling alone.

« Nice location and wonderful breakfast »

Bed singleroom not 100% comfortable. For the rest all was ok. The menu at night could be better. The breakfast is wonderfull. Wifi is complicated getti g access. But the service at the desk was very helpful.

    « Not meet expectations »

Excellent location, perfect breakfast. Good furniture, sleep quality. Room provided were not correspond to ordered. Basement location. Toilet smell at all basement floor. We requested room change. Price is not reasonable taken into account this hotel abilities

    « Brilliant »

Special request for balloons in the room on arrival for my boyfriends 21st and there was! Lovely staff, fab location, accessible and walking distance from everywhere. Transport to and from the airport was easy. Overall lovely experience. Would 100% recommend and will be back.

    4
    « Great location »

The location of a Hotel is excellent. Rooms are very small, but comfortable. But the Hotel is taking safeguard from the guest's account and guest have to wait more then a week to have those money back.

    4
« Central hotel of good quality »

Stayed here a few times while visiting an exhibition in the city. Rooms are small but clean and quiet. Situated alongside the Rijksmuseum and plenty of restaurants it is good value. No restaurant but a good buffet breakfast.d

    2
« Not up to Best Western standards »

The hotel is in a great location. Leidseplein, museum district and vondelpark are all within walking distance. But the inside of the hotel is a different story. The rooms and interior are rather old. The walls are very thin thus a front facing room will be very difficult to sleep in. You get slapped with an unexpected 50EUR deposit on arrival. Plus the staff really aren't that friendly. The bar tender also doubles as front office staff, thus when the FO is very busy you struggle to get served in the bar.

« Well located but expensive in relation to overall quality »

A well located hotel but a bit pricey for the room size which was very small. I am a regular business traveller (2nd stay at this hotel) and this hotel room size is definitely very compact (I booked a twin /double room). The sink hot water was frequently scalding hot, enough to cause burns. The hotel needs to address this. Overall the room was comfortable (despite the very tight space to open the bathroom door or get in or out of the shower) and did have most things you need. The communal hallway carpets have definitely seen better days and are frayed and ripped. The air conditioning is also very noisy and may keep you up. Reception staff were very efficient and nice. I will however spend a bit more time looking for somewhere else next time I return. My business colleagues stayed at much nicer places for the same money.

    1
« Snappy hotel: Poor value for money »

I stayed in one of the standard doubles in the basement. It was cramped, noisy, smelling of drains, and the fabric of the room was tatty. This hotel needs a total refurb fast. And to think they charged my employer EUR199! My recommendation is to look elsewhere.

    5
    « No complaints! »

Me and my boyfriend stayed here from the 9th - 14th. Although the room is very small, it's nice and cosey and doesn't matter if you're out every day any way! Fresh towels every day. The staff were always helpful and kind. Great location from the centre and museums! Breakfast every morning was lovely. They also took the time to put balloons and some little gifts on the bed for my birthday (we didn't mention my birthday!) No complaints at all unless we were to be picky, we'd definitely come back here again. Thank you for our lovely stay xxx

    3
    « A comfortable stay »

My room was very spacious, modern and clean. The hotel is in a perfect location; 2 minutes away from museums and 15 minutes from the city centre. Would definitely recommend, you get what you pay for. Only complaint is the loud roadworks outside, which is obviously out of the hotel's control

    3
« Good location, tiny room »

This hotel confused me??. It is in a lovely old building right next to the Rijksmuseum, the canals, good shops and restaurants. All good you might say- unfortunately although the staff were helpful and everything was clean there is zero ambience! We had a "superior room" which was tiny. The shower and toilet were squeezed into a corner of the room so you had to go sideways to get by! I'd hate to see the average room! The lobby and bar could be a comfortable place to hang out but unfortunately was just tables and banquettes for breakfasts. We didn't breakfast there but it looked ok. There are some nice cafes and restaurants nearby so we went out. Altogether an ok place for a city break but not a place to relax for an evening in!

    4
    « very good »

much preferable to get a room with street view next time. Next time still in Novemder 2016 will stay in Best Western Apollo Breda - hope it will be Ok as well. Nice to see the Best Western hotels net is nowadays a worldwide hotel system!

    1
    « I don't recommend »

The room was very small with a very small window with no view, the bed wan also small and not comfortable with one non comfortable cushion. Each time I took a shower the floor was completely wet and at the bathroom there is low bomber of Towels

    3
    « A few nights in a lovely city »

Amsterdam is lovely. The hotel is in a very good location and very easy to reach! The service could have been better and also the room could have been much cleaner. Do not stay on the lower ground floor as they have a smell.

    5
    « excellent »

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Best Western hotel for 4 nights. The location of the hotel is 10/10- it takes only 5 min to the centre by walking, breakfast in the hotel is also great, fresh ingredients, clean utilities. the staff at the breakfast is also very kind :-) Rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing luxurious but definitely enough for every normal/regular/avarage person!! I am definitely coming back! Thank you for the 4 amazing days, Xoxoxoxo

    5
    « A Fantastic 24 Hour Layover »

The hotel was in a perfect location. All the museums 1 block away. Canal boat tour across the street. Plenty of high end shopping down the block. The room was small but I stayed in a single. It was clean and efficient. The bathroom was a good size and very nice. The breakfast in the morning is hearty and good. The only negative was waiting for the off site valet parking to show up. If you have time thats fine but I was on a tight schedule and I thought by the website someone was local. Not the case. I would definitely stay again. In fact I hope to do that!

« Modern, comfortable and in a fantastic location!!! »

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Best Western Apollo in the Museum district. The 197 bus from the airport takes about 30-40 mins and drops you at the end of the street at the opposite end to the entrance to the hotel. €5 each way. 96 hr GVB tram pass is €21.40, purchased at the airport information desk. Reception staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. They helped with food delivery from local take outs and directions. The room was pleasant and clean, the beds were very comfortable but my pillow was not unfortunately. The bathroom was modern and very clean and there was a hairdryer. New towels provided every day. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room and TV where we could get some BBC channels. Air con in the room too. Breakfast was buffet style, usual continental choice such as cooked meats, eggs, yoghurts, fruit, cereal, breads and pastries. Tea/coffee and fruit juice. On check out we left our bags in reception for a few hours, no charge. There were some roadworks on the main road but this didn't disturb us. The location is great for all the Museums, it is short walk from the ?I Amsterdam' sign, Rijks Museum, Vondelpark and Van Gogh museum, Heineken Experience etc. Across the canal you can get trams and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in Max Euweplein square and the streets beyond. Hard Rock Café is there. The Aran Irish Bar on the square was great. Would definitely return to this hotel if I was visiting Amsterdam again.

    2
    « Disappointing »

Great location! Nothing else. The facilities in this hotel does not do justice to its great location. Rooms look old and tired, beds are terrible and plastic glasses and paper cups for tea and coffee in the rooms. Then there was a constant bad odor in the passage for the duration of my stay.

    5
    « Lovely Stay »

A central Hotel that was a perfect location and only took 25 minutes from airport on public bus which stops 3 mins from hotel. Would stay again as it catered exactly what we need a nice friendly clean comfortable hotel. The bed was just right and the shower was good also.

    2
    « unforgetable experience ... »

good location and good breakfast on the downside, the bed has to be replaced: I ended up sleeping on the floor !!... not bad considering I was charged 132 euros for one night ... double check or choose another hotel if you can. They are plenty of other offers in the neigbourhood

« My Amsterdam city hotel »

Excellent location, next to museums, music hall and fashion road, next to tram stops and canals. Clean & quiet hotel, nice and helpful staff (especially IPEK),. Excellent breakfast buffet. We really enjoyed our stay walking a lot around the beautiful city. Best Western Apollo Museum Htl Amsterdam City Ctr, will be my first choice at my next visit to Amsterdam.

    4
« Good location for museum district »

We reserved one of the bigger rooms and asked for a canal facing room which we got. This is worth the extra cost. Very central not only to museums but also to restaurants and very high end shops. I would stay there again. The lift when we arrived was very dirty which gave a slightly negative impression.

    2
    « Unclear charges »

50€ deposit taken per night, not mentioned in prior communication, city tax is not included in the bill but taken from the deposit upon checkout. Does not feel honest The location is great but found the staff standoffish and rude at times, like staying was an inconvenience.

    3
    « Ok »

Road works outside when we got here but asked for quiet room and we got it ....staff were very helpfull and polite .....had to wait ages to check in but that was because we got there at check out time so must expect it .......room was a bit on the small side .....but very clean and bed was loverly .....finking off booking again in jan 2017

    5
    « Unbelievable experience »

Locating is unbelievable.. Walking distance everywhere.. For example; Leidseplein, rijks museum, museum plain, Heineken experience atc... The rooms are very clean.. The beds are very big (for Frenchbed) :)

    3
    « Good location »

Good location for visiting the museums, quick access to downtown and boat trip next to the hotel. Small but modern room, watch the construction nearby or the elevator for noise. Good breakfast and nice espresso quality.

  • 3
    « Business hotel »

The Best Westeen Apollo Hotel is a nice calm hotel in the south of Amsterdam. It's not really in the center (15 min by foot) but its still close. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is good. Unfortunately we had construction work direct in front of the hotel

    3
    « Amsterdam »

Well the location is great. Close to upscale shopping and the museums. The rooms are small as well as the bathrooms. The bedding and pillows are awful. Breakfast was cold scrambled eggs and dried out cheeses. To top it off we never received our wake up calls.

    4
    « Good experience »

We generally enjoyed our stay at this hotel: the location was great and very convenient as far as access to all the museums is concerned. On the downside our room on the 4th floor was rather small and cramped.

    5
« Excellent Option in an strategic location. »

Excellent Option in an strategic location. The room was great, not to small not to big; very clean and the the bed very comfortable. The amenities in the room were good enough. The breakfast was included in the room cost and was delicious.

    5
    « Perfect For everything »

We took our two young teenage girls here for a week, they had a bedroom next door to us which was very handy, the rooms are small but have everything you need the beds are good and the shower is hot and strong which you need after a good days walking. We did not buy the breakfast deal as we all eat different things in the morning and there are plenty of food places nearby. The hotel is in the best part of town for doing all the museums.. It also close to all the good shopping streets and easy acsess to all of the tourist bits, we even walked to the maritime museum in twenty minetes. You are also next to the boat trips and bike hire. there are lots of restaurants nearby too. A great base to do a lot in Amsterdam.

    1
    « Not great !!! »

Poor service. Staff not emphatic at all We were Overcharged with no help to resolve the issues No staff at bar late evening Very noisy works going on Very Small rooms for the price Location ok not great

    4
« Very good experience, return with pleasure »

The staff were pollited, helpful, welcoming. We stayed in a large room, at the basement, without problem, a very good room (number 22 ad after 20). The only thing I should tell u, it was the taxi suggested to take us to the airport. I Thought was supposed to pay 39 euros, but the driver ask us to pay 49euros. He said, it was more expensive, cause he came with a big car ( ??? ). It happens at 03/11/2016, transfer hotel to airport at 05:00h By Antonio and Maria

    3
    « No drawers. »

Great location for museums & American restaurants. No space for your clothes & no drawers to put them in. Wake up call did not arrive at all. Waited 45 minutes for a massive check out to clear to do a 30 second check in. Outside is Beaux Arts, inside is space age modern. Great breakfast.

    5
    « Very good experience ! »

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Reading the comments on Booking we were afraid to be put on the basement so we requested a room on an upper floor, and we were given a larger room than expected, very good stay, we will come back.

    1
« Let down by really bad service »

Service and communication from staff when you could get hold of someone was really poor. There were issues with check-in, no-one at the bar, issues with the room, issues with the bill and issues with checkout, all handled really badly and unsatisfactorily. The rooms were 'OK' in so far as they are clean and functional, but the standard rooms are particularly small, and our room had very little natural light, in part due to a very small window The location could be OK, but with all the roadworks, transport to and from was heavily disrupted. They also generated a lot of noise very early in the morning over the weekend. On leaving, we had to queue more than 30 minutes to checkout. Overall, not a great experience and wouldn't recommend.

  • 4
    « Location strategy »

Very good location and cheap. Small room but nice and very clean. We don't utilized breakfast in the morning. There's boilers in the room to make coffe or a cup of tea. Bed new and comfortable. Staff gently and friendly

    4
« Great location, customer ignored »

Great location, but individual customer was totally ignored in the restaurant, what came to a specific complaint. They were ready to serve rancid ham for breakfast. The cold chain must have failed, at home I would have thrown out that product immediately. Here it was brought out day after day.

    1
    « Stay at hotel »

Lack of staff in reception area. Bar area was never staffed. Poor service at breakfast. Room was nice and clean and large enough. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was plentiful. Unfortunately would not recommend.

    2
« Special request about the room.. no action taken.. poor service »

i requested particular room since its my birthday.. but when we arrived 2 of my only request was not done... no one even came back to us to offer another room after complaining at the reception.. no attention to details were taken.. location is perfect but staff need to take any immediate action especially when someone complaint.. after all the main concern here is to make everyone ones happy and satisfied about the experience..

    5
« Well placed, well run »

The hotel is ideally located for the Rijksmuseum and convenient for the Van Gogh Museum but also within easy walking distance of the central area. There is a tram stop nearby and the express bus from the airport stops there too.

    5
    « Location location location »

This hotel is situated in an excellent area for the airport express bus. This is only 10€ return so excellent value. Tram service nearby is helpful too. When you get lost by following the signs for the Rjik Museum you will find yourself back ! Didn't sample breakfast but helpful coffee in the breakfast area at only 1€ is a bonus. There is coffee making facilities in the room too. Now the room is small there's no getting away from that but it is very clean and modern and has everything you need. We had a very warm welcome from Randy on the first evening (we stayed four nights ) we even had a complimentary cocktail given to us from Randy after hearing it was the second time we had visited and it was our silver wedding anniversary. Thankyou Randy. We felt very valued as customers. All the staff we met were very pleasant. It was a hectic check out with a long queue but was dealt with very patiently and cheerfully. There were three members of staff on duty and they were doing their best. Thankyou for having us and we will return.

    2
    « Great location, but that's it. »

I'll first start off by saying that it is a great location. Incredibly close to the museums, Heineken brewery, bus stop to the airport, etc. The hotel room was very small, different front desk workers told us different check in times, the room was incredibly dirty (especially the shower!). We only found that one front desk worker was helpful. Again the only redeeming quality was its location.

    3
« Great location, wonderful staff, terrible beds. »

The staff was extremely nice and helpful, good breakfast and fabulous location. However, the bed was terrible and the bathroom was small with a ridiculously tiny shower staff- this was the only bad point to the hotel.

    2
    « Anniversary »

The room was small It was not clean there was dust on the ledge above the bed. The basement smelt and the bed was not comfortable. Would not recommend The only good thing was the location of this hotel. the staff were friendly on the desk We did not have food here

    3
    « I expected a higher hotel level »

The location was good, with very good transportation facilities and near the downtown. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and did their best to satisfy our needs. However the room was small and poorly furnished, without refrigerator, and very small bath room with incredibly small basin.

  • 2
« Not for the Business Traveller »

I was happy to leave after very noisy neighbours and a very uncomfortable room. Okay for tourists but not for the business travellers who need a good nights sleep and a bit of comfort. Very poor service at the bar as it is manned by the check in staff !

    2
« Tourist Trap.... I'm not coming back »

Sorry to say but that Hotel has seen my for the first and last time. Location is fine Close to a lot of sights. Everything is small and constructed to get the most out. I had a room so small.... almost like a Cage. Not cozy at all and no comparision to other really good BW Hotels in the world. For me not worth the Price.

    4
    « A Good Choice »

I was looking (at fairly short notice) for somewhere to stay for the Amsterdam Dance Event that was fairly close to the events and wouldn't break the bank. Despite arriving at the hotel early (11.30am) I was checked in on arrival by friendly and efficient reception staff. The room (a standard double) was pretty much as advertised on the hotel's site - small but clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed, tv, tea making facilities, in fact everything you would need for a short stay where you just need the room to sleep, shower and take a quick rest in between activities. The breakfast was also very good. Best part was the location which being very close to the tram route 2 and 5 from Central Station meant that it was very easy to get into the centre without any fuss. All round, a good choice! Note the room was very small so not the best choice I would think for two particularly large and/or fussy people staying in the one room!

    3
« Amsterdam for the first time »

Enjoyed my trip although had little sleep the first night, more the second as removed mattresses. They went up at both ends when u laid on them! Too soft and need replacing, also not wide enough, definately not single beds, wished we had stayed in the noisy double room that I asked to be moved from.

    5
    « Great »

We stayed for 3 nights as for a city break. The room was nice, just what we needed for a few days. Great location! Just a short walk to Leidseplein which is very convenient. The staff were lovely, they didn't bother us and the hotel was perfect for what we wanted. Would recommend.

    4
    « Apollo amsterdam »

Perfect location, small room, but clean and good breakfast. Nice friendly people to help and advise. Good place to be in the neighberhood of the citycentre and museums. Near the Vondelpark and near HardRockCafe

    4
« The room is to small end only safe ! »

Nothing else ! The room needs refrigeretor , maybe one microwave, the coffe break is very god , the location is very good, next the Museum, Parks, food end comerce streets , tô esy walk, next everything you need !

    4
    « Price/Performance »

Place and quiteness is fine but could be less expensive. We had 2 different rooms. Stay away from ground level rooms, smells humid. Get prepared for compact space if you are planning to stay 2 people in the room. Otherwise it is Best Western standards and reputation

    3
« long time for check in .... »

very good position, but we had to wait a long time for check in with just one person before us ... so why we had to wait so long? And the staff was ignoring us totally.. The room was ok, but the bathroom was really too small....

    2
« Price is to high for what you get »

The room size is very small and the decoration of the room is poor. Hygiene can be better. The facilities and luxury in the hotel were absolutely not in relation with the high price. Staff was OK . The location however is very good and great for discovering the museum quarter of Amsterdam.

  • 4
    « amsterdam »

staff is very friendly and informative. Great location to transportation and visiting interesting places in the city. Breakfast was very good and well worth the extra cost. Hotel booked taxi to the airport at a reasonable cost.

    3
« Location is great - thats it »

You pay for the location not for the rooms because they are terrible. I never find such horrible beds in a hotel before. For all the guests in the future - you should wear shoes in the room. The staff is very friendly and helpfull.

    3
    « VERY small rooms »

Fantastic location and clean facilities, but VERY small rooms with narrow bed and min bathroom. Beliw average breakfast quality. Noisy air condition and noise from installation that sounds Luke you are on a boat.

    4
    « Nice place »

Near by Museumdistrict so very good for the visits. We got at no extra charge, a bigger double room but the bathroom is really too small ! I'm not fat but people who are are going to have problems in this !!!

    4
    « Great location »

Nice located hotel, was able to walk to Anne Frank's , Heineken experience and right next to museums, across the street from all the shops and pubs and down the st to Vondelpark . All said and drone was a nice hotel

    4
    « Amazing holiday »

Really nice hotel. The service was very good and the location was great, pleasant walking distance from the centre. The staff of the hotel was always smiling and happy to help with everything. Highly recommended

    4
« Great location, modern and clean »

This hotel is a little gem. Really lovely location next to the canal. The museum quarter is on the door step, and lovely restaurants and bars within walking distance for the evening. The tram and bus stops to take you into centre are a short walk, perfect! We had a great couple of days here. The rooms were on the small size, but completely acceptable. The only negative was the glass bathroom/ensuite door...fine for me as I was with my dad, but obviously might spoil the mood if you were on a romantic break! Ha ha! Hotel could do with updating webpage to include the direct 197 bus, that picks up direct from the airport and stops a few minutes from the hotel. Instructions on the hotel website are not the quickest or best way to get there. Would definitely stay again.

    4
    « Great location »

A clean and modern hotel excellently located; almost next door to Het Rijksmuseum and the Museumplein. Also near Amsterdam centre. Reasonable prices, very friendly staff, very good breakfast and a nice bar! However, the rooms are tiny! If the staff had not let us change our room into a somewhat bigger double room we would never return but after that we were happy and comfortable and will surely return on another occasion.

    3
« Good location and money value- small rooms »

Location is excellent and its value is very good, but rooms are terrible small bed is very uncomfortable. Not recommended if travelling with friends. Eithet couple or a small family but not friends!!!

    3
« Small rooms, but great location »

All the negative reviews we read turned out to be true. Don't stay here if you are claustophobic or a light sleeper. On the other hand, the location is great if you want to be close to museums, attractions, and the coffee shops! The trams to city sentre are close by.

« An embarrassment to Best Western »

Hotel rooms are so tiny, you can't even turn in the shower and is only suited to an HumperLumper. After breakfast returned to room to find builders at work, no one ask me or even apologised. The worst thing is that they charged me twice and after weeks of phone calls and emails I still don't have refund. Complained to hotel, complained to Best Western both UK and international and nothing, they just don't care. My colleague had the same double charge so I consider this to be intentional. Tomorrow I am making a statement to the police so they can investigate this fraudulent business. Do not give them your card details, better still don't stay there. You have been warned!

    « Good location »

We booked hotel the day before travel. We arrived at the hotel around 1pm and although check in was at 2, they were happy for us to check in early. Reception staff really friendly and helpful. Hotel is a couple of minutes walk away from the 'I Amsterdam' letters, close to Hard Rock Cafe, Heineken brewery and only about half hour (ish) walk from the station. Rooms are small but clean, we were out all day so wasnt an issue. Towels were changed and bathroom lovely and clean. No dinner options, however plenty of restuarants nearby. Had the option for breakfast which we felt was a little expensive but nice to know it was there. One slightly annoying (not even a major issue) was that if you wanted to order a drink from the bar, you had to get someone from reception. Staff happy to help straight away and even showed us to the garden. Enjoyed our stay, would stay again if we visit Amsterdam again.

« Good for a few days stay »

I stayed in a single room in the hotel and although single, found the room to be very small. It was however clean and had tea and coffee facilities which were replenished every day. The bathroom was also very nice and clean and modern with a nice shower. Check-in was a bit slow and I had an issue with my key card not working every time I came back of an evening, and had to get it re-activated each time. There was alot of noise from the street each morning from the dust cart - I was on the second floor, facing the canal. On the positive side it is in a great location for the museums - only a short walk away. I didn't have the breakfast as there are loads of restaurants nearby. Hard Rock Cafe is just 4-5mins walk. Good tram links to the city centre - I preferred to walk around and got to the main sights within 30mins. Canal boat tour 2 mins walk just opposite the hotel. Staff spoke fluent English and were very helpful. Overall this is what you would expect from a 3 star hotel, but in a very good location. It was certainly adequate for my 3 day stay.

    « Location! »

Steps away from the Rijks museum , Heineken building and many other tourist places. A wonderful Indonesian restaurant next door. Buffet breakfast available and there is a discount if you let them know the night before. Scenery is stunning along the canal.

    « Good stay »

Room was smaller than we are used to but overall it was more than adequate. Boiled egg was runny and not hard boiled which I didn't like but otherwise breakfast was good. Friendly staff and everyone spoke English...no language problems.

« Too expensive for what you get »

I wouldn't stay here again. Location ok, hotel clean, staff good but room 407 small and pokey. Bed awful - too spongy and top mattress didn't stay on bed. Bathroom very modern and shower good, albeit small

    « Great overall »

They did an awesome Job in keeping us happy and informed us about all the great things to do in Amsterdam. The workers had a professional apperance and seemed kompetent about there Job. Overall a great experiencing. V/R

« Perfect location, comfortable accommodation »

My friends and I had a very enjoyable break in Amsterdam. The location and comfort of our hotel made the experience even better. Just around the corner from museum square and the concertgebouw and within walking distance from all other major tourist sites this hotel is the ideal spot from which to see Amsterdam.

    5
    « Right Choice »

Excellent location. Walking distance to the museums. Canal cruise dock is just across the street. Could purchase tickets for museums, cruise trips, or combi with a discount at the hotel's reception desk. Really convenient. A nearby plaza with souvenir shops and restaurants with great choices. A morning jogging in the nearby beautiful beautiful Vondel Park was a gorgeous bonus to my pleasant stay at the Best Western Apollo!

    « Amsterdam short break »

Chose this hotel because of location, price & appearance on website. Was not disappointed! Perfect location for seeing the whole of Amsterdam on foot, hotel interior was modern, clean & very comfortable. Would definitely use Best Western again..

    « Good for 4 to 5 days »

Good stay, calm, quiet and central. Near very interesting locations. Very small room, even smaller beds, even smaller bath room. Request for a bigger room was rejected. Breakfast not taken, hence not reviewable.

    4
    « Short Amsterdam visit »

The hotel is perfectly situated near all attractions an especially the Museum district. The breakfast should be included in the price. Parking nearbay on a reasonable price is an issue. The staff is very heplful and polite.

    3
    « Excellent location - no frills. »

Located in a prominent area next to the Rjiksmuseum (acts as a landmark) near tram routes to the city centre and bus routes to the airport. Small room, decorated for efficiency - quiet. Staff is very helpful. Will come back.

    « Visiting Amsterdam Museums »

This hotel is perfect if you are visiting Rijksmuseum and/or Van Gogh Museum, they are both very close by. It is comfortable hotel with an excellent continental breakfast, pity it wasn't included in our price, I had asked for a quiet room but was put in 206 on the front of the hotel above the noisy road, we were moved the next day to 213, a rather cramped small room but much quieter.

    5
« Great location and great price! »

Been Amsterdam a few times but thought I'd try this hotel and I was not disappointed. Got there at 11am and I was able to check in straight away and drop my bag off in the room. Safe included in room. Nice location, can pretty much walk everywhere.

    1
    « Poor Security »

My bag was stolen in dining hall and security said is our fault despite of poor security they had. The waiter is much better response than reception & security. Reception shown no urgency when customer's lost the bag and direct the wrong police station. Room TV also malfunction.

    2
    « Poor »

They need to hire better and more help!!. The check in time is late past 4pm. The same with half cleaning of rooms. They give little bath towels and do not change them. The rooms of course are small with little pace for your luggage!!

« Best Western Apollo Amsterdam »

Ideal location in Amsterdam for everything. Good room rates and cleanliness. rooms are slightly smaller than anticipated. Located right next to the major Museums in Amsterdam, and within walking distance to all major attractions and shops in the city.

    « Perfect for a city break! »

My partner and I had a great time staying here, the hotel is lovely and clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It's close to all the museums as well as the city centre so the location was perfect! Our only complaint was that the shower was very weak and so took a long time to wash shampoo out of your hair properly etc. The room was also quite small but as we were out for the majority of the day and just coming back to sleep this didn't bother us. Overall great experience and would definitely recommend it if your just spending a couple of nights in Amsterdam!

    3
    « Anaversary »

Check in was a nightmare .Our room was not available and we were offered another room down the street with a very steep set of stairs .Our room became available after we told the manager that it was totally unacceptable as the alternative offered was not what we had paid for.Manager was polite and helpful.

« Great location and value for money »

I booked the hotel through the reviews and when we got there, to my surprise, the location was excellent. All the amenities are walking distance. Museums, restaurants, bars and shopping are just 10 to 20 minutes walk. But also you have the Tram, buses and taxi close by. I would le definitely go there again.

    3
« Last day in Amsterdam »

I booked this hotel for last night in Amsterdam since my flight was early morning. There is a bus station near by with connection to airport. The room is very small but clean. Perfect location for museums.

    4
    « Great Amsterdam option. »

Nice hotel to explore Amsterdam. Close to every main part of the city, easy way to rent bikes, go to boat rides, train and bus station. The hotel is close to the main museums and stores. Just 10 minutes from Red Light District by bike.

    4
    « Great location »

Great location next to Rjiksmuseum and tram stops. Easy walk to city centre. Airport shuttle bus 197 stops at end of the road. Clean hotel, stayed room only so can't comment on food/food value for money. Hotel clean and comfortable, bathrooms small but clean and well laid out. Professional, helpful staff and has left luggage facility.

    4
« Good location and price »

Like others hotels from Best Western, the quality is excellent. Good room, great location. The staff was very friendly and helped us with everything. The breakfast was a very good buffet with bread, croissants, cereals, fruits, eggs, sausages, differents jams and butters, thea, coffe, juices.

« NICE AND QUIET HOTEL IN A GOOD LOCATION »

    « Great location »

Stayed here with friends last weekend! Location is very good with loads of restaurants and barsnearby in the Leidseplein area! The hop on/off canal boat stop is outside the hotel. Our rooms were below street level and were rather small, but the decor and amenities were modern. Good air conditioning, nice bathrooms. Would stay here again

    5
« Excellent location. Value for money. »

Well placed for access to Centre and Airport by tam and bus. Plenty of shops, parks, restaurants and museums close by. We upgraded our room to a deluxe and it was well worth it - good size, light and airy and well positioned. It was very clean and comfortable. Hotel breakfast good value. a good selection of continental type food. Limited hot food. There is a hotel shuttle bus to the airport but public transport to the airport is very regular, close by and ccheap. We read on trip advisor about road works outside the hotel. Just to say that they are completed.

    4
« Nice and quiet hotel in a good location »

Hotel is nice, staff are professional and friendly Rooms are clean not that spacious but its ok view is nice and the location is great for people who want to visit museums and its not also far from the city center

« The best time ever spent in Amsterdam! »

This hotel is highly professional and extremely well organized. In spite of a huge and continuous flux of incoming people at the hotel, the workers at the desk are absolutely great, fast, kind, helpful, and UNDERSTANDING. Extremely clean elegant room, great view over Rijksmusem. Location is wonderful: clean nice area, elegant streets, silent night time, very well guarded, zero crime. You have there at your fingertips the great streets of art galleries and antiques, art museums, all best of Amsterdam, the canals, and so on. Staying at this hotel made my life and work easy and beautiful. Stay there!

« traffic noise and worst bed ever »

Loads of traffic noise throughout the night. The double bed was very small and worn, overall a very uncomfortable night! The quality of the coffee at the breakfast buffet wasn't good. For cappuccino they charged extra.

    5
    « Great place »

Great value and within distance of everything.clean and tidy and staff very welcoming.i would stay there again without a doubt.this hotel represents value for money.nice comfortable beds, rooms are small but you Gotta expect this with amsterdam.

« Ok hotel, needs management »

Hotel is fine to stay at. Location is fantastic. Rooms were ok. Could be better kept but ok. Yes, bathroom small as in many hotels in Europe. A/C worked great. Teapot and coffee in room. This place come down to the staff. Check in staff around 2:00 was fine, happy and nice. Bar staff is lazy and could care less if you were there. This happened all three nights. Night manager and staff, again seemingly could care less to help you. The sense of service that's lacking from half the staff hurts the half that is doing a great job.

    2
    « Hotel was disappointing. »

Room was very small and not in great condition. Bathroom renovated but faucet so long it ridiculously blocked sink making it difficult to wash and to brush teeth. Worse of all I had bug bites. Breakfast was good but didn't compensate for room. Don't recommend.

    4
« Great location and staff, room just so-so »

We stayed in this hotel in mid-September, 2016. The two key positives of this property is its excellent location and its very helpful staff at both the front desk and also in the breakfast bar area (they have only a limited buffet breakfast and serve no other meals). 1. Excellent location. This hotel, at the end-corner of the most expensive shopping street in Amsterdam, is within a 5-minute walk from the Rijksmuseum, a 10-minute walk from the Van Gogh museum, a 15 minute-walk from a large grocery store just past the Van Gogh museum. It is right across the street from the hop-on, hop-off canal cruise station. When turning the hotel's corner to the left on Stadhouderskade, a few houses away at Number 31 is the boutique Srikandi Indonesian restaurant. We had dinner there on two successive days. It is excellent food. In particular, Mr. Gerco at the front desk (perhaps its manager) and a red headed lady in working behind the counter at the breakfast bar deserve high praise for their outstanding customer service. 2. Marginal room. The room we stayed in on the second floor right across from the elevator was cramped and noisy late into the early morning hours due to guest-traffic. The small refrigerator in the room hardly cooled anything. When I advised the staff about it and asked that it either be repaired or replaced, neither happened. The hair dryer in the bathroom that we found when checking in was broken. It was promptly replaced The bathroom seems to have been recently re-done. Its bathtub has a nearly 4 foot-high side that one needs to step over and out onto the bathroom's floor. It is a rather hazardous task since there is no grab bar where it should be under the towel rack. The sink was a circular bowl not large enough for its intended use. There was neither any hand-soap nor body lotion supplied. The all-in-one shampoo cum body wash was provided by 2 metal dispensers. One was attached to the wall outside the reach of the circular bowl for a sink (which caused its contents to drip all over the tiny counter ledge when used). The second metal dispenser was fastened to the wall above the bathtub. These two dispensers were rather reluctant to dispense much of anything, thus requiring repeated vigorous pumping them with inadequate results each time. This room in the US would get only a 2 star rating at the best. By the way, the price of our room at the Apollo Museumhotel in Amsterdam compared to the price of the much better room in the also centrally located Novotel Danube Hotel in Budapest was nearly double. Overall, the excellent location and staff of the Apollo Museumhotel in Central Amsterdam outweighed for us the annoyances of the room, since we spent our days outside the hotel.

    4
    « Amsterdam hotel »

Good and the location is not that bad. Transportation is not too far. Museum and canal boat is also Near the area. Breakfast is also good but the room is super small but not that bad for vacation. Price is a bit high.

    3
    « good location »

Good location. Small room and bathroom. Could not open the windows. Expensive for what it is. Breakfast is good. But paying extra for orangejuice and espressocoffee is ridiculous. Cleaning the room after 4PM is a bit late.

    5
    « It was great »

Very nice hotel. Great location and clean room. Food was good, but it could be better :) wifi connection was great and it works really fast. Museums and city center were very close to the hotel. 15 min walk to Center.

    5
    « Excellent hotel »

We stayed here for three nights in September 2016. Room was tiny but if it's being used as a base only, is perfectly adaquate. The staff were very friendly and could not be more helpful. The hotel was situated centrally, and was perfect for accessing everywhere in central Amsterdam. One thing to be on the lookout for, is the thousands of cyclists everywhere. The motorists were very good and considerate, but the cyclists are blind to pedestrians, and ignore them as well as all traffic signals.

    5
« best location, helpful staff »

I only stay for a night in this place but if i could have known that Best western is in the right location for transport and attractions , i would really choose to stay here since the first night. The location is perfect , just two minutes to museum (lots of museums in this area) , get tram number 5 to square with 2.5-3 euro which is just in front of the hotel. the other side of the building is the canal that close to Hard rock cafe and some nice restaurants, a walking distance to town centre too. A reasonable price and very helpful staff. They are all lovely and smart. i recommend!

    « Our 6 night stay »

We knew nothing about this hotel beforehand which was picked for us by the Rijksmuseum. We were however very pleased by the accommodation (though the en suite was small). It was quiet and well-maintained. We would certainly come back here. It's location could not be bettered as it's a stone's throw from the Rijksmuseum, close to the Leidse Plein and the grachten and well served by trams.

    4
    « Adult family weekend »

Location is great for access to city, canal boats and buses, museums, fashion streets and park all in walking distance. Anne Franks house is 20 mins and station another 20. Rooms were good and clean with shower wet rooms. Breakfast had good choice of drinks and food. Hotel reception was busy and at night that meant almost no bar service..!?!? We did see a mouse in the eating area which was not dealt with at the time we reported it.

    4
« The hotel to see the Rijks Museum! »

The ideal place to stay to visit the Museum's Quarter, as it happened on the warmest days for decades and the air conditioning worked well. Very helpful and friendly staff. You could live all day on the breakfast easily, but no regular lunch/dining service, just bar snacks Avoid the basement rooms with no view, no opening windows, and quite small.

    2
    « Charge a week later »

I stayed in this hotel for three nights. After checking out and paying in cash, a week later I was charged additional tourist tax on my credit card, which I think is unacceptable. Also due to the construction work on the street the room was very noisy. I wouldn't visit again.

    5
    « Fabulous hotel »

Very friendly staff and so helpful. Gave lots of help with directions. Complimentary New York Times. Room have Windows that open, which is a bonus, as cooling settings can make hotel rooms too cold or too stuffy.

    « Won't be back »

Good points near to museums casino hard rock and staff are very nice Bad points sink was nasty dirty Shower plug full of hairs Tv very old Small rooms asked for high floor got ground I random strip wall paper on the wall Net curtains need a wash Photos added Must point out didn't contact reception but when I was at bar I waited 20mins for a drink no staff then every drink after had to to reception to get served then still waited 10mins or more so didn't bother complaining about the room . The sink and shower had not been used in photos I just went to fill sink up to wash didn't bother .

    1
    « Worst Western »

noisy, air con broken, had to move in middle of stay to quieter room - the second room had water flowing crazy loud through some pipe- all night long. they do not clearly explain up front that breakfast is 25eur each day- whether you have a muffin or eggs and meat! dont fill out the voucher- its how they track the breakfasts. the manager must put all the burden of handling complaints on the front desk staff who are very nice but must be very happy to leave at end of day. do NOT stay here

    2
« you can be stolen at the Apollo »

Don't go to the Bestwestern Apollo. Expensive and there's no security. The staff doesn't have the capacity of control the amount of people who arrives. There's no staff sufficient for make a adequate vigilance.

    3
    « Adequate »

Great location for the museums, and walking distance to some great parks and many sites. However..... If we had a Deluxe room, I pity anyone in a standard room. The room and bathroom combined were maybe 14'x14' total. The bathroom was too narrow it was impossible to shave over the sink without clunking an elbow into the shower enclosure. Beware the slippery granite floor in the shower! (and be prepared for water to pour out from under the shower door into the bathroom). Don't expect luxury bath products (you'll have a wall-mounted squeeze bottle of generic hand/face/hair cleanser). Also, the frosted glass door on the bathroom (which is necessary for an illusion of space) allows lots of light into the room at night, so if your partner is a light sleeper... Don't expect great air conditioning. Breakfast was primarily carbs., but there is a small plate of cold cuts and cheese, a large bowl of yogurt, and some scrambled and hard-boiled eggs. Plus a bowl of apples. Get a room on the canal side. Many 4th floor rooms have small windows (you may need to stand on the foot bench to see out the window, but the view is nice). If you can cross the street without getting killed by bicyclists, sit on a bench by the canal. It's lovely. As noted, the hotel is super close to the three major museums, and is also walking distance to many sites. The area was quite and seemed safe at night. For a 3-star hotel, it might be better than others

    4
    « Amazing »

Great Value for money. Perfect location Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Vondelpark all under a 5 minute walk from the hotel . Room was small but comfortable and clean. Staff were very pleasent . We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

    « Just okay »

Relatively ok, but was disappointed there was no fridge ( Very important in summer!) nor restaurant in the hotels where I could order dinner from. For the price paid, I was expecting a bit more. Though the location in the city centre was great. Next time I might go prepared with my cold drink and hot dinner!

    4
    « Better than expected!! »

When I booked this hotel the reviews were average so my expectations were not overly high. All we needed was a room to sleep in at night. However I was very pleasantly surprised at the location, accommodations staff and the hotel its self. We had a small but well appointed room with a king bed and a beautiful (but small) bathroom. The size was inline with European standards. We were located on the 3rd floor. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a lounge in the main foyer of the hotel that serves alcohol and food. Breakfast is optional for a fee if you want. The location is in the heart of the museum district and on the same street as all the high end shops and boutiques (Tiffany, Dior, Burberry...etc). The tram is close by and you can access all the local attractions either by walking or transit. I will stay here again. Please note that they are currently doing some construction on the street in front of the hotel that looks to be almost finished so it can be a bit noisy it did not bother us to much.

    2
« Great location, lousy hotel »

A raucous hotel full of noisy guests and featuring dank basement rooms. Poor value for money. Great location for museums, restaurants and local transit - but doesn't make up for a damp basement room. Would not recommend.

    3
    « All about location »

A very convenient location. Walk to museums, nearby restaurants and canal cruises nearby and also tram which takes you to most tourist spots. Room very very small, bed was comfortable but mattress kept slipping off which was annoying. Room noisy and because of construction work immediately outside worse. However staff were really helpful and overall likely value for money (seems rooms in Amsterdam can be small?)

    2
« Good Location but Improvements needed. »

I was a given a basement room as there was a large annual TV conference in Amsterdam so understandably rooms are at a premium. However my room had a smell of damp in the bathroom and the bath, the sink and the toilet basin were crawling with ants. Staff were nice and helpful but when you are brushing your teeth or about to shower and you need to wash away a few ants first then that is not good. They need to get the basement rooms checked and address the ant infestation to improve their score.

    2
« Very bad experience in Amsterdam »

They gave me a basement room and refuse to change it in addition to that very early check out and penalty for extra hours .staff at the reception area not cooperative .room amenities are very poor also no body help with our bags .one more thing no complementary water in the room .

« next to the centrum »

The good thing was that the hotel is very close to the City, Museum Coffee Shops . it was a Trip i Made with my daughter she like it also very well. In the future I will Visit amsterdam again. thanks and good bye

« Nice trip to Amsterdam »

Very good location, you can walk everywhere. In the front of the hotel you can take a cruise. Very good spot to eat near the hotel. Room very small, difficult to walk with two big luggage. The mattress is awful and there's no fridge in the room.

    4
    « Excellent location! »

The location of the hotel is very good. Close to everything you want to see and do. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. The internet is a bit slow , so if you are on a business trip that could be a problem for you. For a couple on holiday - A good experience!

    1
    « never again »

uninterested staff at check-in and check-out. Terrible rooms, very small and no warm water available, I asked hte reception but the answer was that this is normal in their hotel, no action from their site.

  • 4
    « Great location »

We stayed here as a group of 9 for a weekend. On arrival the reception staff were pleasant and helpful. There was some slight confusion at check in but that was partly my fault for not printing the confirmation details before we left home. The location of the hotel is just outside the heart of the action which for me was a good thing. It is a five minute walk to the casino, Planet Hollywood and other places of interest. Leidseplein square is a must place to either start your day or evening and this is a ten minutes walk away. The red light district which as we know you will go to out of curiosity is about 30 minutes away. The only negative thing possibly about the hotel rooms we stayed in was they were slightly small and the shower/ toilet had a frosted glass door. This means when my friend I was staying with was on the loo you could see him quite clearly, not a big thing when your with your mates but I did think if I was on a romantic break with my wife or a young couple on one of their first trips together this wouldn't be ideal. After all this though we did have agree at stay.

    4
    « Great location »

The location was perfect! Hotel definitely worth the money. Hotels in Amsterdam are very expensive and this one was among the cheapest I could find in this location. Only complaint would be that the room and bathroom were quite small and the bathroom door was see-through.

    3
« Nice hotel. Horrible receptionists »

We were ignored by receptionists when we arrived at the hotel. They just kept chatting to each other instead. The check in took several minutes and the check out too. The room was nice but the bathroom a little small.

    2
« Not clean and the staff was not nice »

You pay literally for the location, the room was not clean, spots on the sheets! De woman that serve the breakfast was not nice, al tables where full with dirty cups and plates! And for that price, you could be on a sunny place. The room was so small! Is was not what we expected.

    5
« First holiday to Amsterdam »

We travelled on the 5th of September for 3 nights and stayed here, the hotel was spotless with free internet throughout the hotel and in the rooms. We were offered a free upgrade to a larger room which put the icing on the cake. The hotel was a short walk from all the attractions like the Heineken experience the ice bar and dam square we had an amazing time here and would definitely would visit again

    3
    « City break weekend »

Good location for the musems and tram connections. Canals, cafes, bars and restaurants in walking distance. Rooms on the small side but expected for the price of a city centre location. Staff disinterested and generally difficult to engage with all seem preoccupied.

    2
    « Not what I expected »

Mouse running around bar and restaurant area, staff not too bothered as said its normal in an old building. Deluxe room don't bother small wouldn't describe it very disappointed thought best western were better than this.

    3
« Not for you if you have Mobility Issues »

No access from street level to the hotel if you have mobility problems and no staff dedicated to help you. Busy hotel with insufficient staff to cope with peak times. A luggage trolley was provided but could not be used at street level of the bedroom corridors as the laundry trollies were parked in them at all times and you couldn't get the two side by side.

    1
    « Dissapointed »

Staff not friendly Noisy building site outside Ruined trip Reasonably central location Room was tidy but very small Wouldn't recommend staying here to anybody else Had to pay a high safety deposit which wasn't clearly stated when booked

Very good location and excellent service. Bedrooms are a little bit small and the bathroom is not really intimate but clean. Staff very friendly and welcoming. The location of the hotel is perfect and close to museum, city center etc...

« Good hotel, nice location, rooms not good value for money »

Good location, helpful staff. Breakfast was not included. They gave us an underground room and small. Even after we complaint they said they were fully booked and did not give us a room upstairs until the next day. Even that day we had to empty the first room at 11:00 and leave our stuff at the reception until 14:00.When we came back 2 o clock the room was not ready yet and we had to wait again. The new room was small but very good.

    4
    « Small is beautiful »

Very nice looking hotel by the Rijksmuseum. Stairs to reception might be too steep for elderly people, The room with queen bed was large enough for one person. Bathroom recently renewed. Tea and coffee making machine is always nice to have. Fridge should be standard in this class of a hotel.

    2
« The worth part is the value for money. »

For the price we paid we expected much better! The room is tiny and the door to the toilet is of transparent glass - horrible with your girlfriend there. Not that close to the center. There were works on the street of the hotel, of which we were not informed n advance. The soap in the toilet is in a built-in machine and there was no conditioner for the hair. looked like they were trying to save money. The room was very noisy, we could hear the cleaning ladies outside early in the morning and when the room in front of us opened/closed their door it felt like they were opening ours. Overall the hotel was ok but only if you pay a very cheap rate, and not according to Best Western 3 star . Staff was friendly.

« Great base for exploring Amsterdam! »

As two students, we probably wouldn't have been able to afford to stay here if the roadworks outside the hotel hadn't resulted in lower prices, so for us this was a total bargain! A lovely and very clean hotel in an amazing location. Our twin room was spacious and everything was in full working order. It takes around 25 minutes to walk into the city centre (sort of Damrak/Centraal area) which is not a lot, plus en route you pass many gorgeous shops and the famous flower market! The staff were friendly and helpful and you are able to get discounted tickets into some Amsterdam attractions. I knew about the roadworks due to previously reading reviews on tripadvisor, so I cannot fault the hotel for this - plus they didn't start until 8am which is not early if you are trying to get the most out of your city break. Only two faults really, one was that there were no signs asking guests to be quiet at night time and on more than one occasion I was woken up by loud Americans coming back to their rooms at 4 am! The walls must be fairly thin and maybe some kind of rest time should have been encouraged as myself and my friend found this to be pretty annoying. Plus, the hot breakfast selection could have had a little more choice. However, for the price we paid and the overall experience, neither of those things were a huge problem!

    « Great location »

The location of this hotel is perfect, all the museums, restaurants and a huge park are right in front of the hotel. There is always water and apples in the lobby, friendly staff, however rooms and a bathroom are quite small.

    « Good location »

Only here two nights but enjoyed our stay. Judging by some other reviews we struck lucky with our room. Decent size nicely decorated though shower room/toilet a bit snug. What we appreciated was that there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Disposable cups good idea. I am always a bit concerned about the cup washing routine when rooms are seviced normally.Good wifi reception. Continental breakfast only but good variety. Rolls etc.all freshly baked and delicious. Convenient position but as it was such a short stay we were just about getting our bearings before we had to leave. Nice place. Would like a longer visit some time.

« Booking online was annoying »

We had to book through a 3rd party system. They charged us in Euros so I had an extra fee. Then when I went to check out at the front desk they said we didn't pay one of the hotel taxes and so we had to pay more money. Also the construction right outside our room was so loud we couldn't sleep in.

    2
    « Lack of information »

Location was great, we wasted 1 night because of the terrible circumstances had happened due to the construction in the area. no communication that was sent out despite we sent an email and made a call 2 days before we travel to Amsterdam.

    4
« Good Location, fair price »

Perfect location, very clean and modern room and bathroom, The space was enough for 2 people (the room was not so small as I saw comments in the other reviews) . I recommend this place if you want to see the downtown withouth using the public transport.

    « Business trip »

Excellent access to theatre, shopping and central amsterdam. One night stay for business but then only 15mins drive to the airport. Down side no hotel parking and the local parking was €68 overnight. Excellent Hotel.

    « Good location »

Acceptable price, next to Rijkmuseum, quiet area, basic hotel. They let you leave yout luggage the last day, you can take a glass of free fresh watee (or ice tea), what is remarkable. The price is not too cheap.

    « Great Location »

Room was small but adequate as we sent very little time in it. Breakfast very good continental only. Location was ideal 15 mins walk into centre 30 mins to railway central tram from behind the Rijksmuseum very easy to use 4 euros to station. water hop on off right outside hotel 22 euro for 24 hours. Hotel bar stayed open until 1am but we missed it every night so much to do Leidestraat great area for food and drink plenty bars and clubs til 5am Hard Rock cafe good food but busy eat in the bar area quiter and the Aussie waiter was very good. Irish bar good for food and drink great to finish off with a pint by the canal. Dont over do the cafe culture they are much stronger than at home and very easy to overdo it..Red light district very touristy but worth a look grab a beer and sit outside and watch the Hen and Stag parties great laugh. The Ice bar good value compared with London but we ended up there by accident by tickets from the hop on off boats cheaper than the front office 3 small drinks with price Chocolate vodka a must but cold on the feet in flip flops. Hilton Sky bar great to start the evening off views across the city. Going back again early next year..

    « Apollo museum Amsterdam »

Nice , great location, tiny rooms , not very clean, nice saff, street under public works, with dirt and noise, friendly people at the hotel. Internet OK. High prices for very small rooms. Amsterdam amazing city- compensates for all the small problems.

    2
    « Living in a box »

Poor room - very small - breakfast limited - anything that required staff to make i.e fried egg or omelette cost more. Crumbs on the floor - stains on side of bed. Why have green tea in rooms but English tea in breakfast area

    2
« Good location, keep your expectations low »

Room was just enough for what we needed (just clean enough, just comfortable enough), shower was ok, breakfast was ok. Always a line up at the front desk, expect to wait 40 min for service there and staff were often frustrated though they did manage to help resolve questions.

    4
    « Good option »

The hotel location is very good, and the price vs. location compared other hotels is very competitive ,also the cleanness of the hotel was very good, the breakfast buffet was fine, there were not that much of variety, however the quality of food was good. During my stay I booked a double room, which was almost enough for me, however I don't think it will be sufficient if two persons stayed there.

    5
    « A lovely hotel »

Good place, good hotel, and there is a car park ! At 5 min of the center of Amsterdam Next to a big park where you can eat or take a break Staff very nice No noise during the night ! I will recommend it

« Best Deal in Amsterdam »

An excellent location, friendly and very helpful staff, ample and spotless clean room, good food in a restaurant overlooking a canal, all at a very reasonable price. A short walk to almost everything a visitor would want to see and do in Amsterdam.

    4
    « Amsterdam Apollo »

Modern refurbishment of old hotel. Some minor annoyances (eg shower door too small) but overall good place to stay. Excellent location. Pleasant staff. Major roadworks made vehicle access a real problem. Not their fault and hopefully not for too long.

    5
    « Great location! »

This hotel is close to all the major museums, the casino, the street market, the Heinikan Experience, and lots of restaurants. It offers late check out until 5 pm for 10 euros an hour- this was great since our train did not leave until 20:30. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Hotel also offers a really good breakfast.

    « ond day stay »

The hotel location is very good; but, there is no parking for free. The hotel would need to improve the access and the avalablity of a wherl chair. The hotel needs to update his online information especially related accesses and avilablity of special needs services

    5
« A very nice place to stay in Amsterdam »

The hotel is very nice and everything is near to you. The personel is very kind and the breakfast is very good. The only problem was that the room is to small and we had asked a double bed and they gave us two single beds.

    3
« Summer trip to Amsterdam »

Very close to museums and public transportation. The airport shuttle under amenities is not free as one would assume. If you are trying to stay inexpensively stay further out from down town. Very comfortable beds.

    3
« Superb location, reasonably priced, poor check in/out »

The room was perfectly comfortable and clean and reasonably priced in comparison. Staff are genuinely helpful and friendly. Superb location in a fantastic city with easy access to trams, canal cruises, restaurants and bars! However, check in/out was excruciatingly painful with not enough staff available. Waiting half an hour to be checked in is unacceptable. Vending machine prices are extortionate with prices quadruple that of a local shop just round the corner.

    3
    « Short stay »

Spent a couple of days here in August 2016. Reception was very busy so it took a while to check in. Rooms are very small, but I already knew this from previous reviews, so cannot complain. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Location is excellent for museums & city centre is only a short tram ride away. No car parking on site, but valet parking is available for an extra charge. Fruit infused water & free apples on ground floor were a nice touch. My only criticism is the cost for such a tiny room. Also, €10:50 per person seems too much for the continental breakfast, and €9 for a single whiskey & lemonade at the bar.

    5
« Perfect hotel for Amsterdam getaway »

excellently located for a stay in Amsterdam, fantastic views from hotel room. Facilities and staff brilliant, couldn't of asked for more. Amsterdam museum, Vondel Park, Hotel L'Europe, Dam square, open boat canal trip and the flower market were great places to visit. Pancakes are a must. Highly recommend.

    4
    « Amsterdam »

Hotel very good centrally located with airport bus stop close. Yes the road outside was dug up but no work on this whilst we were there and not due to finish until end of October. There was a mouse in the hotel bar we saw 3 times. We did tell the staff who assured us they would set traps and they are next to the canal. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

    5
« Perfect location for a city trip »

Looking out of the window and seeing the Rijksmuseum in all it's glory. Walking distance to all the nice places. Also the weather was perfect during my stay. Very nice hotel. The street out turn right.

    3
« Get what you pay for »

Put in the basement and all through the night trolleys were being pushed from the service lift to the right past the door. There was also road works outside and as the room window was ground level the noise woke us up very early, we moved rooms at our request with no questions. The mouse in the dining area which ran into the kitchen was an added extra

    4
    « Amsterdam Break »

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel and found the rooms small but clean and tidy, the buffet breakfast was excellent and looked after one of our party who is a coeliac, all staff were very helpful, only down side was the noise from the road works being carried. Would suggest a visit to the Ice bar

  • 2
    « Um.... Really »

Look, place was nice but we got a cheap price for the room last minute, gave us a room below ground, people walking around, could look into the room from the street. At least we had curtains. But as if anyone wants to deal with that. Hilarious.

    5
    « Very good location »

The location is excellent however the street is under construction and this doesnt help with luggage Also the rooms are very small but very neat and confortable, i think is a really good option to stay in Amsterdam

    3
    « Expensive deposit »

Lovely clean hotel great helpful staff always free fresh fruit and water at main reception breakfast was quite poor for the price you pay no variety, but what was there was nice. The deposit was £50 per night to pay which I thought was very expensive, rooms were lovely furnished very clean !! And the hotel was brilliantly placed location for tourists

    « So so hotel....... »

Hotel location is great , very near museums, shops and restaurants Rooms have a nice size but there are some issues that can be improved When shower all small bathroom will be flooded Bed is not made properly every day, we have to do it again ourselves Mattresses are a little of and uncomfortable When I did check the staff member ask me to make a deposits of the total amount of my reservation , even after I pay it in advance, when in following days I saw other clients pay a deposit on credit card of only 90 euros ........ I rent 2 bicycle for 2 full days and was charge the full rate of course, but on third day I would like to you it only for go out for dinner and was told that the full rate will be charge, in my opinion there must be some flexibility to rent at hour also In the end was so so experience

    « Nice Hotel! »

Located in the center of Amsterdam, this hotel is at a very convenient location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The room itself had a nice bed and the room was very clean. We enjoyed our stay a lot! Thank you!

    4
« Great place with wonderful, helpful staff »

Great hotel. Unfortunately they had double-booked and we were told on arrival that our room was not available for the first night. Mistakes happen - they had arranged for us to stay at the 4-star Ramada for one night, complementary drink at the bar and free breakfast for our stay, so they really made up for the mistake. The staff were wonderful; the barman even went to the trouble of printing out an event guide for all the Gay Pride festivities for the weekend. Only gripe I had was the cost of bottles of water, snacks etc. at reception. Cannot say enough about the staff, they were really wonderful. Great location too, right next door to Vondel park, the Rijksmuseum and tram stops. Great place!

    3
    « Meh »

If you want close access to the art museums, and that's your main reason for visiting this beautiful city, then this is a very convenient option. If your interests are otherwise diverse, consider something closer to the city center.

    2
    « Rude »

Location was ok, room was ok. The problem arose with extremely noisy roadworks outside our room, we were woken up before 7 am. When we checked out I complained that we weren't warned about this ( had we known we wouldn't have booked) we were told " we don't have to inform people when it's outside of the hotel" there was no apology, we were then asked to pay Amsterdam a city tax for keeping us awake. The staffs attitude was quite frankly awful. Would certainly NOT recommend this hotel

    4
« Nice stay in Amsterdam »

Nice Hotel, welcoming and helpful staff, perfect location. I really appreciated the help from the Staff when we checke in, the first room we were given had a terrible smell and we were changed to a perfect, clean and spacious room in no time at all. I enjoyed my stay.

This hotel was a good place to stay for the price. It was near the Iamsterdam sign and just in a good location in general. Just didn't like paying 25E for two coffees and a croissant. Would recommend to young adults.

« Good location. Renovations underway. »

Great location for museums. Quite good for central area as well. Note that hotel is under renovation, but current prices seem to reflect this and it is a good deal for the location. Ask for a room on an upper floor (first is in need of reno in the rooms). A good budget-mid range hotel at this point, and likely to be higher after reno. Get breakfast elsewhere.

    3
    « A pleasant stay »

The hotel is very well situated in an attractive location close to the major museums and the cafes and bars of the Leidseplein. The rooms are quiet and clean although, on the 4th floor, our room and bathroom were rather small.

    5
« Quick stay in AMS »

For a quick stop in Amsterdam the accommodations were adequate. Central location for majority of the attractions I wanted to visit. Although the roadway was under construction I was still able to access the hole safely.

    4
    « Fantastic Location »

The hotel is fantastically located right next to the Rijksmuseum-I could see it from my bed! Our only issue was with the bathroom door which was glass, whoever was in the bathroom was visible from the room but not vice versa, possibly it was installed wrong? Transportation: the 2 and 5 trams go to the Rijksmuseum and it's a few steps to the hotel. If you're flying in or out of Amsterdam the 197 airport express bus also stopped right down the road at the museum.

    5
« Outstanding Service and Excellent Location »

We had a wonderful stay at Apollo Museum Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is also located in a lovely area next to Rijke Museum, Jordaan and the 9 Street Shopping district. We really enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam

« Awesome location and lovely hotel! »

Our room was upgraded free of charge to an awesome room! Was in the best location possible. So handy to be able to hire bikes from the hotel. Loved our stay in Amsterdam and would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

    3
« A hotel that boast good points and bad »

This hotel is in absolutely excellent location, two minutes from the Leidseplein, and tow minutes from the Rijksmuseum. Rooms are clean, spacious, and quiet, breakfast is good and ample and excellent value. We were offered an "upgrade" on check-in, but found ourselves in a basement room with a view on a "garden" filled with construction equipment. Also, it had two separate twin beds instead of the large bed we ordered. It had very slow or inexistant wifi. Valet service initially seemed excellent value, but this turned into a very expensive surprise following damage done to our car by the valet driver. We would not recommend this hotel.

    3
« Great location but noisy »

We had a great time in Amsterdam but wouldn't go back to this hotel. It was noisy as its on the main road and the double glazing isn't very good. The room was small and the ensuite was so small my husband struggled to sit on the loo.

    3
    « Amsterdam »

Overall holiday was great! Bit of a walk away to the main square (Dam). Very easy to get lost, and some pubs we found dirty. The hotel was clean and quiet but the room was tiny with the four walls nearly around you while in bed. We were also charged a city vat twice upon our stay once prior to booking and on our checkout! The hotel breakfast was lovely but not much hot food just bakery, eggs and fruit. Overall we enjoyed our holiday and seeing the sights with a few small complaints throughout!

    3
    « Average hotel »

The hotel was clean. Beds weren't overly comfortable and rooms are tiny which is normal for Amsterdam. Use the lifts - stairs are really steep and narrow. Staff weren't overly enthusiastic to assist you leaving us waiting to check in, buy a drink, make an enquiry etc... Good location. Boat ride right across the road.

    « Good Hotel »

The hotel is in a good location, next to the hotels and 15 mins away from dam. Friendly staff. The rooms was very clean and everything was new. The only bad thing: They were building a road next to the hotel, so it was pretty noisy. Bring earplugs just in case.

    5
    « Great hotel. »

Stayed here for three nights. Nice and clean hotel and the staff were very nice and helpful. Great bar too. The room was on the small side but we only needed it to sleep in and wash and dress, so it wasn't a problem for us. The hotel is on the same street as lots of designer shops like Dior, Louis Vuitton and Gucci to name a few. This hotel is in the museum quarter and close to lots of different restaurants. Would stay here again.

    4
    « weekend trip »

My 2nd stay at the Hotel already. Great loacation right next to the major museums. you'll reachLeidseplein within a 5-min walk. Friendly staff, small but comfy rooms. Right between the hotel and Leidseplein you'll find a small restaurant called "de vier pilaren" wich serves the best pancakes and poffertjes in town. I'd come again!

    2
    « Don't stay here »

This is an old hotel that they have tried to upgrade. The rooms were clean but small and there was no where to unpack. The bathroom was no larger than a small closet and the shower door would not open because it hit the toilet. If you opened it in, then you could not close it once you were in the shower. They gave is a room on the 2ed floor what was accessed by a circular stairway. I am 80 years old so that was a nonstarter. The street was under construction so there was no sidewalk, only rubber mats that were easy to trip on. Over all, it was not up to the Best Western standards.

    5
    « A pleasant stay in a beautiful area »

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights last week and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As other reviewers have pointed out,the rooms are quite small. However, this was not a problem for us and I thought the room was clean and comfortable. The staff at the front desk were always friendly and approachable. One morning I asked a staff member if he had a spare phone charger and he went out of his way to help me. The location was excellent. The museum area of Amsterdam is truly beautiful. It was about a 20 minute walk into the heart of the city centre. My boyfriend and I both agreed that we preferred where we were located, but spent a lot of time in the city also. We went elsewhere for breakfast and drinks so I can't comment on this. There didn't seem to be much atmosphere in the hotel for drinks. Still, the staff created some atmosphere by being friendly when we would enter the hotel. A very enjoyable stay :)

    4
    « good location »

The hotel is situated just next to the major museums. The rooms are rather small. We were three people but the first room they reserved was very small and there were no room to put an extra bed. We had to ask for a room change and the personnel tried their best to move us to a relatively larger room.

    3
« So tiny but good location for museums »

I don't think we will come back to this hotel again. First of all, the room is far too small that we found it difficult to reach anywhere in it. We are not too smalland the room doesn't even fit in two suitcases. Luckily, we only went to Amsterdam for a couple of museum trips, so we only brought one suitcase. However, we still found it very difficult to walk through the door. Don't even think about you could open the door if you don't place it properly. Secondly, the room hasn't been cleaned well for the four days we stayed. The second day we didn't have the cleaning service until after 5pm. After dinner, we came back to the room, only towels were changed but the toilet was not cleaned, the dirty pillow case was not changed and coffee was not filled up. Apart from the hotel location itself, nothing is worth our stay again.

    4
    « Good location »

Cool location, do not agree to be upgraded to the 600 rooms. No elevator. Make sure if summer that AC will be working properly. Staff general speaking is friendly and helpful. Buy some bread to eat with an omelett in the mornings. Omelett costs 3.50 euros if you get some bread they will charge a full breakfast buffet 22.50 euros. The cooker woman does not understand English and can be mad easily, beware.

    3
« Great location- no order at checkin/checkout »

I waited for min 15 minutes during check in and check out. People blatantly butted us in line and the desk agent didn't even care to correct it. This ruined my trip.. All your guest matter but it first come first served.

« Comfy, clean hotel for weekend escape to Amsterdam »

We stayed at this hotel from Thursday night to Sunday morning. It offered us very clean and comfy beds on the fourth floor that we accessed with one of its two modern elevators and we did not have any problems with street noise. The housekeepers do a great job, and every staff member in the hotel greets you with a smile. We upgraded our room for ten euro more per night (split between two people), and with that came free breakfast (so we ended up saving some money there). The breakfast they offer is fresh and has a lot of variety-- we looked forward to it every morning. To top it all off, the hotel is a ten-minute walk (max.) from the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedjlik (?) Museum, Heineken Experience, and countless other attractions. I definitely plan to book with this hotel next summer when I return to Amsterdam-- this time for at least one week! I fell in love with the city, and this hotel had a lot to do with it.

« Lovely room and location but Faulty air-con during the hottest days of summer so far, and roadworks »

Arrived at the hotel to see the road infront blocked off due to road works. Paid an extra €100 for deposit which was not noted in any emails/invoices before arrival. Air-con did not work at all. Load road works early hours of the morning

    « Nice modern hotel »

Clean, easy to get to from main parts of Amsterdam. Nice and friendly staff which are very helpful . Had breakfast once just basic continental type not much to choose from. Fried eggs or omerlets are charged for , no bacon nor sausage

    3
    « Disappointing Reception »

No flexibility for any changes / new requests. Whilst waiting, the staff gave another customer a free upgrade which took them totally by surprise. This was done in a manner making sure I got the message. A Check Mate situation was created forcing me to accept my situation. This is not on par with the usual Dutch hospitality I know.

    « Price/Quality not in balance »

We stayed here for three nights for business purposes, next time we will choose another hotel. On first look the rooms are ok, bathrooms small, colours on wall could be renewed, don't look too close! Breakfast very boring and overpriced, espresso, cappuccino, omelette only for extra price, this is for room prices up to 220€/night ABSOLUTELY not acceptable. Noisy street, fire alarm at 3 am in the night (somebody had a shower!!), no excuses on the next day. Staff is young, more or less unexperienced and can't decide anything. Will not come back

    4

We have booked this hotel due to its City Center location. From the hotel it is just a short walk to Shopping streets, Prinsengracht and also just a short ride to the Main Station. Our room was very small and could be more clean, but we had enjoied Our stay.

    « Great location! »

Unless I use airbnb, The Best Western Apollo is always the hotel I try to book when in Amsterdam. I love the location. It's a great departure point. The neighborhood is lively, somewhat touristy near Leidseplein, but the nearness to museums, canals and parks makes for a perfect hotel spot. The rooms are nice, the staff friendly, the breakfast somewhat unexciting. All in all, a solid hotel and a sure booking.

« Great location with comfortable room and walking distance from many must-sees! »

My husband and I loved our stay at the Best Western Apollo Museumhotel. First of all, it was reasonably priced. The rooms are small in the American point of view, but not compared to other European hotel rooms I've seen, and ours was very comfortable and well appointed. (Again, no washcloths! Do they not use these in Europe? This has been my experience in Italy and Greece as well. So...bring your own!) Our room faced a street that was undergoing construction, as did the front entrance of the hotel. This was a bit inconvenient, but I wouldn't rate the location lower for that, since this in no way the fault of the hotel! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. However, do no expect an early check in! We were hopeful, since our flight arrived at 6:00am, but we didn't feel entitled to it. The main issue I had was that there were no comfortable seats in the lobby for waiting. The only true option was to go out. The front desk staff did safely stow our luggage and gave us a city map. Though exhausted, early in the morning is a GREAT time to explore Amsterdam, before all the traffic begins. I would highly recommend that if you find yourself in this position that you go to the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh museum, which open at 9:00. After that, the excitement of Leidseplein is nearby. If you walk in the other direction from the museums, you walk straight into PC Hoofstraat, the uppermost-scale shopping area in Amsterdam, and then on to Vondelpark.

    « 4 days 3 nights stay »

We slept 3 nights at this hotel. The location is perfect. All the museums are a 5 minutes walk, the bus to the airport is next to you, and the boat trips start there. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean and quiet. We had a discount so it was really worth staying.

« Ok hotel in Amsterdam »

Good location, clean hotel and rooms alas we experienced a strong and reoccurring unpleasant smell in the room. Staff were very polite and friendly. I tried to book a Tesla taxi to return to the airport as I was looking forward to experiencing a drive in a Tesla. The receptionist checked with her colleague if this could be arranged and was told yes and she would arrange. When we left the taxi was a normal taxi from their preferred company and not a Tesla :-(, if it could not be arranged they should have just said so as I was really looking forward to it!

Nice, clean hotel near the city centre with more than nice staff :) The receptionists were always helpful with anything I needed, very good breakfasts, service room. Although in some rooms which have windows oriented to street & river it's a little bit noisy in the night.

Do not believe that the included breakfast when booking as you get charged at the end of your stay. Television did not work and after being told problem would be fixed it never was after a 4 day stay and complaint each day...lovely stay other than that

« Nice hotel in a good location »

I stayed here with work on an overnight trip to Holland, and found the hotel to be generally good. Best Western is a brand that I trust and the hotel didn't fail to deliver. Located on a side street behind the main Museum square, it's well located for trams and buses - taking about 15 minutes to the station. It's within easy reach of lots of amenities and some decent restaurants. My was on the 2nd floor and although not very big, was an ample size for me, and the bathroom had been recently modernised with a lovely big shower. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I had an excellent night sleep - which is unusual for a hotel stay! The down side for me was the service provided by staff. everyone I spoke to on reception was abrupt and seemed to want to be rid of you asap. Checking in took over 15 minutes which was disappointing after a long day travelling. I also wouldn't recommend breakfast. The options are limited and despite paying €12, there was nothing hot available. At 9am there were very few tables available and those that were free had not been cleaned. This was a bit disappointing. However, I would definitely stay here again. The rooms are smart and comfortable and the location made it really easy to get around. A good find!!

« Happy of my visit in the Best Western »

I'm happy of my stay in your comfortable hotel , located in a good quarter in the city of Amsterdam. There could be a better choice for the breakfast but it was good in the whole. The view in my room was very beautiful so thank you.

« Our nights at the Musuem. »

Great welcome on arrival! Room small but clean. The pride of the housekeeping staff was evident in the room preparation and daily service. We didn't eat or drink thére as there were lots of opportunities to eat close by. (steak or similar with a glass of wine for €10 or less). Spoilt for choices for eating and drinking, within 10 minutes walking distance. Only down side for hotel was roadworks out in the street which made ground floor rooms noisy if you wanted a sleep in past 0800 hrs. Not the hotels fault really.

    « Great location »

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The punjabi girl there was very helpful in giving me details of what to see around the hotel. The location is great as its near to the shopping areas, museums, as well as touring facilities. Room is ideal for a single person. Breakfast was good.

« Nice Room with quiet location »

1- Location is away from Dam Square. 2- So tiny bath room ; you have to move so carefully not to hurt your self :)). 3- Stuff is so helpful and it is so clean hotel with wide comfortable bed. 4- Coffee and Tea are available. 5- Breakfast is perfect and full of varieties. Perfect 2 nights stay.

« Okay hotel in a good location »

The rooms are small, but that's to be expected. The food was not good. You cannot beat the location (for the price). You are walking distance to the train and a lot of major attractions. We had one of the best meals at an Algerian restaurant near this hotel. It's very basic but clean, safe and great location.

    5
    « great travelling experience »

The hotel is placed perfectly related to the museum quarter and easily accessible by foot to the city of Amsterdam. We spent 6 days here and saw the old city on foot although public transport and canal tours/travel are readily at hand. The hotel itself is comfortable, clean and has friendly helpful staff. The cost is competitive but our decision to stay there was based on its excellent location combined with good value for the money.

    3
« Ideal situation but tiny room for the price »

The hotel is ideally situated, the room was clean but there were several small issues during our stay (noisy works outisde and workers that could see straight into our room; an horrible mattress; an accidental fire alarm at 7AM that they couldn't stop before 20 minutes...). Also the room was tiny for the price.

    4
« Good for business trip or city tourist »

Place of the hotel is almost perfect - practically "in the back yard" of Rijksmuseum - it is really "easy to find". Good public transportation to Schiphol airport (bus 197 has a stop in 100 m from hotel). Hotel is clean, staff is nice and helpfull. Typically for hotels in Western Europe - credit card is required for deposits. Breakfast - good, also typicall for WEuropean hotels. Rooms are small. Really small. I didnt saw a parcing - so hotel is good for business trips and city tourists, but probably not so good for families (with family I would need a own parcing and bigger room)

    « Definitely overpriced! »

The bathroom stinks, there is a horrible smell in the room. guest rooms are very small, unlike what you see in the photos. Location is perfect though, 5 minutes walking to Van Gogh museum and the same distance to the city center.

    « Great Area »

This hotel is located in a great location. Every type of restaurant at walking distance. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic, lots of choices. The hotel and rooms were clean.

    « Negative comment. »

Helas I am unsatisfied. The reason is the smell and noise because of tubes on terrace. Small expensive room. Number 111. Go and see ! I estimate to deserve the refund for one night. I asked it at reception and it was refused.

    « Good location »

Perferct location but not value for money.. Changed the room so we culd get a twinroom as we had requestioed for. Ended up at a small room in the back of the hotell up a steep narrow staircaise. Hard bed with worn out pillows. The room were bedly cleaned during our stey.

Location was great..4mins from iamsterdam sign..30min walk to amsterdam central station was quiet a long walk but plenty to see on your ventures. 8min walk to mcdonalds and febo is opposite. Dolphins coffe shop is quiet close by

« Great place to stay! »

We stayed here for three nights. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were spotlessly clean. Slightly on the small side, but perfectly adequate for just sleeping in as we were out all day and evening. The weather was glorious so the air con was a boon! Central for the trams and boat tour too! Walking distance to the Rijk Museum.

    3
« Great location but 50/50 on hotel/service. Small rooms! »

Travel agent booked this hotel for 3nts so not my choice on our first visit to Amsterdam. The location was great so I can see why it was selected so no complaints there. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff at check-in and decor of hotel appeared to be modern and clean. When we reached our room we very surprised at the size of the room being on the small side, very small side. We couldn't even figure out how we were going to access 2 large suite cases and where to put them without tripping over them, yes that small. We went back down to the front desk where the hotel was very accommodating without question to find us a larger room, which we did get a slightly bigger room that worked for our length of stay so that was nice. Late, late in the evening when we returned after a long day/night out, we went to relax to bed to find the TV was not working. We alerted the staff which the bartender so graciously tried to fix the problem but with no resolve. Unfortunately being so late there was no maintenance and completely understood. The next day we were told that maintenance would fix the TV while were out for the day. Upon returning once again late in the evening, we discovered that the TV was now working with sound/picture, but the color was distorted in like x-ray vision. I went to the front desk to alert the staff and was pretty much rudely brushed off. I told the girl behind the desk that it was still not right and she said she was told it was fixed. I politely explained that it was better than the day before but that no it was not fixed. She didn't seem to care or acknowledge my concern, moreover didn't seem to believe me. I asked her to come see for herself (room was right down the hall) and she stated she didn't need to see and "I trust my colleague when he told me he fixed it." Really? I then asked the bartender on duty that night (not same from night before) to come take a look. He confirmed it was still broken and we were told maintenance would replace the TV the next day (day 3). While we were out this was done and returned to a working TV for our final night. Upon check out I was not asked how my stay was, nor was I given an opportunity to voice my feedback of what transpired and my frustration with the staff and customer service. I also did not receive an apology for the inconvenience or compensated in any way not that I was seeking a discount or anything but that is not the point here. So to sum things up..... hotel is a good price and great location. Rooms are on the small side so beware of that, and staff hospitality could go either way.

« The right hotel at the right place »

So close to the museums and so close to the center, the Apollo Museum hotel is recommended for a stay in Amsterdam. Trams and busses to the center, walking distance to many interesting places. Excellent breakfast and a very available and pleasant staff!

    « great location »

right around corner from Rijks museum and that's really best thing about it - small rooms, adequate and clean (except when pigeons got in) - but i was not impressed by steep entrance staircase with no ramp for baggage - and irritation at my messages ahead - by phone and by fax, and via booking agency - not being transmitted. there are lawyers across the street, and perhaps next time i'll ask them to run across the road to give my message in person, verbally - it just meant i had to hang around a few hours of a very short trip waiting to get into the room. sigh. but all in all perfectly adequate - ideal for the location and that's why i'd stay there again - staff very, very nice ..

    4
« location and price both excellent »

when visiting downtown Amsterdam this hotel is located really well and staff is very helpful in advising best ways to go around Amsterdam. We made the booking really last minute which resulted in really low room fare / night. This hotel concern is globally known which also results in the way they treat their clients.

« Keep up the good work ! »

Had a realy nice stay, location is super and staf is so helpfull. They made me reservations and took all time to point out where to go, my room was ready early so early check in was ok. Thank you all.

    « Location was perfect! »

The room was extremely small but the location made up for this inconvenience. It was ideal for exploring the sights we wanted to see as tourists in Amsterdam. We only had one day where the room was not refreshed until very late in the afternoon. Our room was on the main floor and off the Main Street, so we didn't experience any noise at night. Location, location, location...

    4
« Super Location for seeing all the sights »

Loved the area De Pijp which is literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Very boho with great eateries, shops and bars. Also the area Jordan and the 9 bridges are all within walking distance. Great city.

    « Great hotel! »

My 6- night stay at the Apollo Museumhotel was excellent. My room & the hotel were impeccably clean and well maintained. The hotel is well located - 2 min walk from the Rijksmuseum & close to nice restaurant a grocery store and parks. It was also a 3 minute walk to Bus #197 which takes you directly to the Airport (30 min ride). I personally preferred the museum district as it is located a short walk away from the craziness of the Damrock / Rockum area which is overrun by cruise ship tourists by day and bar patrons, red-light-district pleasure-seekers & voyeurs by night. I skipped breakfast in favour of local bakeries so I can't comment upon that. I would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again.

    3
« Great location, terrible rooms »

The hotel is in a beautiful area close to museums, restaurants and coffee shops. However the standard rooms are about the size of a double bed with no space for suitcases or anything else. It is very poor value for money. I have been to Amsterdam previously and stayed right next to the central station in a suite for the same price.

    5
« Quick visit to Amsterdam »

Excellent location, comfortable room and very helpful staff. I arrived early expecting my room not to be ready but it was. I even had a partial canal view. I was also quite pleased that the airport express bus was only a short walk from the hotel when I had to leave for the airport on Sunday morning .Great savings at only EUR5 for thetrip.

    2
« Price Quality very expensive »

Bedroom too small and dark with the elevator nearby the window although we asked for a canal side room. It's very expensive for this service delivery. We do not recommend to our friends your hotel because we are highly disappointed

    « Just OK »

« Good location, terrible rooms and unfriendly staff »

Booked this hotel as it was on the same block as the Park hotel which I have stayed at previously. Unfortunately the Park hotel was booked out for this trip. I am a frequent business traveller to Amsterdam and have already advised my company to stay away from this hotel. On arrival I was booked into what I can only describe as a basement room, no lift to take you down there, maintenance work going on around you. Carpets dirty in the corridor. The room wasnt much better but with zero natural light, cracks in all the walls. The kettle didnt work for coffee, damp stains on the ceilings. Also, arrived back to the hotel just after midnight after a business meal and couldn't get access back into the hotel. The guy on the speakerphone said he couldnt understand my accent To add onto this, they request a deposit on arrival. I used my debit card for this which has still not been refunded.

    « 5th floor sucks »

I stayed in room no. 512. If someone wasn't paying for that I would be disappointed. The room costs more than 200€ per night, it is the upmost room, it has doors to neighboring rooms and I could hear everything people were doing there. The room was kind of small but as it comes to size - size of the bed and the size of the room were ok, but the toilet was so small that I couldn't sit on the toilet with. If it was 50€ cheaper I wouldn't complain.

    5
    « Very nice »

We chose this hotel specifically because it was in the museum sector of Amsterdam. The people on reception were excellent for our whole visit (3 nights). We stayed on the 5th floor in a huge bed - it was on a raised platform so would not be suitable for those with mobility issues, but fine for us. The price seemed very reasonable, and for the price the value was very good. The rooms were clean and quiet. I would recommend this hotel.

    3
« Amsterdam Hotel near museums »

The hotel is located within walking distance to museums, garden, and is within Amsterdam city. The staff at reception were nice and very helpful. The hotel main entrance is with several steps and baggages have to be hand carried up the stairs. The room that I stayed was found to be surprising very small and the bed was not comfortable, and while sleeping on the bed I felt like I was falling off the as the mattress was too soft and sunken down on one side.

    4
    « Amsterdam stay »

I chose this hotel because of it's location I wanted to be near all the restaurants and shops within walking distance and also have acces to public transportation. The value of the hotel is also excellent. The staff were very friendly professional and helpful at all times and the rooms were very clean and comfortable!

    « Deluxe or bust »

We were originally given a large room on the side of the hotel - overlooking the canal lovely,! but on the 2nd floor with a very steep narrow staircase - no lift in this part of the hotel and very noisy. Despite our request for highest, floor quietest room. We asked to move for a like for like room and as our original room was a deluxe, we expected something similar we could nt view it as it was still occupied. However we were assured it was a deluxe room slightly smaller with slightly smaller windows. The original room had three large windows. We returned from a long day out to find we had been put in a tiny room with what can only be described as a prison window that we had to stand on the bed to open, Ther was nothing deluxe about this room. On check out we were told rather abruptly that it was a deluxe room - i would hate to see the standard rooms. We were also charged more than our original bookings.com quotation. Breakfast not worth 12 euros - bathrooms tiny and no feeling of privacy - glass door etc, Unfriendly staff. Very good location - is all I can say

    « Apollo and vondelpark »

Good ambience, nice building besides hard rock cafe, vondelpark, unfortunatly we dont have any parking free, i liked very much and stayed 3 times arround 10 days total, some rooms are very small at the ground floor!

« Great location, small & soft beds, great but noisy location »

The location makes this hotel a good pick. Located right beside the Rijksmuseum, steps to the Tram lines, a few blocks to the Hard Rock and neighbouring entertainment district. Staff was VERY helpful although at times the language barrier was difficult. We gave up after two nights in asking for extra pillows. The front desk arranged a taxi pickup for us to get to the cruise port and allowed us to stay in our room an extra few hours at no additional cost. The breakfast every morning was amazing and well worth the 12.5 Euros charged per person. Fresh croissants, fruit, toast, yogurt and so much more. However the coffee could have been better. The rooms with a "Canal View" are very noisy from street noise, bikes and people walking on the side walks. Ask for the rooms further away from the street. Also our room was oddly shaped making it cramped. Construction was also taking place beside the front entrance directly below our room. The bed itself was extremely uncomfortable. Too soft. While small it was the mattress itself that made for sore backs when we woke up. Conversely we went on a 12 night cruise with a mattress of equal size and width and it felt perfect! I would not stay here again as we now know getting around the city is very easy if you have access to the tram system. The bed comfort was just too poor to return. The size of the small double bed was ok but the softness was terrible. There is no easy handicap access. The steps from the front street are steep and narrow so be careful.

« Wonderful break in Amsterdam »

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in June 2016. The hotel was in a great location right next to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum etc. The staff were very friendly we received a warm and efficient welcome at check in, no queues. It was about 15 mins walk to the centre. The standard room was comfortable the bed was huge, shower was great no issues at all. We didn't use public transport once and walked everywhere. We had a great stay!

    2
    « High price/average quality »

Even if the room on the ground floor, it was quiet. Unfortunately it was quite warm and the air conditioning was not working properly. I did not have breakfast at the hotel because I considered it was excessively expensive. And that is not the only part that I rate as expensive compared to quality: the room goes in the same basket.

    « Great location »

« Nice Stay !!Great Location »

Great Stay Overall Superb Location. You practically do not need any public transport as all major attractions are very closeby. Breakfast is great . Rooms are small and if you need big space them specifically request this . Overall highly recommended and I will definitely stay again.

« Great location, good value, but rude staff »

My overall experience was poor due to the staff at the front desk being rude, slow to respond and unprofessional. I was very distressed after it appeared that my luggage was lost in the back room. My friend and I had to track down the woman who put it in the back room who eventually found my luggage. No one apologized. I had to wait about ten minutes to check in because the front desk staff were doing other things and talking to each other instead of helping me.

    « really good hotel »

I was in standard room which is small other than that it was in a quiet part so I slept well, room was kept clean and staff were very helpful and friendly, all in all the hotel location is great very near to the service of the hop on hop off canal boat rides also right next door to the ruik museum and the hard rock cafe, short walk to shops and more cafes and restaurants. In the quieter part of Amsterdam than the hustle and bustle near the main train station, but that was fine for me trams and canal boats close by.i would recommend the hotel to my friends as I was told about this hotel by one of my work colleague, thank you for the lovely stay.

« Good experience at the hotel! »

Nice and clean hotel, very good location. Good and complete breackfast, but expensive. We only pay for it one day. Despite the room was small, it was very clean, silent and confortable to sleep. The tv had some channel repeated, few movies, but we could watch UCL final.

« Ok midrange hotel near museums »

Stayed for a couple of nights autumn/winter. The location is good if you plan on visiting a lot of museums, there is however quite a distance to walk regarding restaurants/nightlife. The breakfast was standard with no suprises. + Reasonably priced + Ok area of the city (outer canal) - Uncomfortable beds - A bit of noise from the main road outside - Bar closed early and the service was slow (even though practically empty) - Check-out at 11

    5
    « Amazing »

« Overall ok but the beds are very bad »

The room is small, the breakfast was ok. The only bad thing was that the bed was not so comfortable. The stuff is ok and the room is clean. Pay attention that a deposit needs to be payed and city tax is not included in the final price. Overall the experience was ok.

As a tourist the tour boat stops on the canal in front of the hotel and the bus 100m down the street. Helpful reception allowed us to book in early following a cruise to the Baltic. Good eateries are only 200m away and the side street leads to all the Designer shops. Breakfast was qute OK.

« Great hotel, in a central location with fantastic staff »

I stayed here with my partner from the 26th - 28th of May and cannot praise the hotel highly enough. I told the reception staff it was my partners birthday and when we returned they had decorated the bedroom with balloons, spa sets and champagne. The rooms were clean and had a excellence shower. Location was very central, 3 min walk away from the Amsterdam sign and very close to the Hard Rock Cafe. We also hired bikes from the hotel at €16 per day but it was by far the best way to see Amsterdam!

    « Booked a deluxe but got a standard. »

Great location and clean. Our AC did not work and we had booked a deluxe but found out we were in a standard. Room was very small. We got moved as we wanted a deluxe which comes with a fridge and one where the AC worked as it wat hot, but still only got a standard. We gave up the fight. They did give us free breakfast but I am really disappointed in the con game. We did not get what we booked and paid for. The response form the management to my complaint is we will get a complimentary upgrade on our next visit which may never happen as we may not return to Amsterdam. I have contacted best western head office but have not had a response in 10 days. Again disappointing as I stay about 60 to 80 nights a year in hotels amongst which in the best western as a preference in the past.

    3
    « Served the purpose »

« Clean, great location, nice bathrooms, wifi - what more could we need? »

Loved staying here. The room and bathroom were clean, the bathroom was renovated and very nice, we had a cute kettle, coffee and tea set in our room, they came to clean and organize every day. At first I was a bit shocked by how tiny the room is, but it has a closet, desk and side tables, and some drawers and a shelf in the bathroom, so we found that once we unpacked we were totally comfortable. The beds are narrow and I think too wide for their base, so you tend to feel like you're tipping off the bed. Despite that, we slept great. The location is truly fantastic. It's around the corner from the Rijksmuseum (one of the reasons for the hotel's ridiculously long name), around the corner from the stunning Vondelpark, and within walking distance of many sites, or a short tram ride from others. We didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on that. One drawback: to get into the hotel, you have to go up stairs. It's not so easy with luggage, and I'd say it's impossible for anyone who's not strong enough to lug their bags up the stairs, or has strollers or wheelchairs. Once you're in, there's an elevator. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again.

    2
    « Not a pleasant stay. »

We stayed 2 nights and were very disappointed that the room we were given was so tiny (even with European standards) that it was hard to get past the bed (which was hard & uncomfortable) & a bath that was the size of a small closet. True, it is a convient location, but that is the only positive. We had previously stayed at this hotel a couple years ago and had a much better room & experience.

    « Rm. 110 Along the Road-Can't sleep! »

Location is very ideal, just next to Rijksmuseum & No.2 & 5 Tram & the Vondelpark & Leidseplein. Room is clean, 1 bed, TV, free wifi small bathroom with shower, coffee maker & fridge. It's perfect but not if you want to sleep! I barely slept at all because I'm right into the main road & you can hear the cars noise the whole night up to morning. That's my only complain, otherwise it's ok! Buy the €10 breakfast because it's worth it with an array of selections. BTW coffee is good!

The real strength of this hotel is its location near museums and beside s lovely canal .The twin room was tiny and the beds very uncomfortable . The staff upon check-in didn't informed us anything about the breakfast. We booked via booking.com and was not aware that the breakfast is not included in our payment. The staff didn't mentioned to us about it nor offered us the discount for early breakfast reservation.

    « Weekend break »

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The dining room was nice and well laid out. Breakfast was very good, didn't stay for dinner. The room was a twin room. It had an ensuite. It was terribly small, the beds touched each other. The curtains covered the mirror so it couldn't be used. Although everything we wanted was in the room it just lacked space. If one was sat at the dressing table there was no room to walk past. Didn't spoil the weekend but wouldn't stay again

« Best western, Leidse square »

Had quite a good deal with this hotel, although reviews state a central hotel I wouldn't really class it as central, it's around 5-10 minute walk across a bust road to get to the team line, then it's about 10-15 minutes tram ride to centrum, myself and my partner loved the atmosphere at the red light district and All the pubs so after a good drink up there we had to cut it short to catchy the last trAm to Leidseplein, had a few more drinks there and then it's still another walk to hotel, after a busy road the. A really quiet side street ur there. Also our room was soooooo noisy, we had a leaky toilet which the cistern kept filling all night and the floorboards above squeked all night long, I think we must of been in the old cleaning cupboard it was so load, but staff were friendly And hotel was clean.

« Noisy, lack of security and very poor rooms & WC »

First of all the location - great place to visit and move around, as well as come from and to Schipol airport (bus 197 stop "Rijksmuseum" at less than 100m). By the way, coming in the hotel is not easy for less younger with heavy luggage - there are several abrupt steps (see picture) to the only entrance. From the door you can go directly to the elevator, outside the view of the front desk. And no, the elevator does not need a card key to work. The rooms has 3 sources of noise: the air conditioner, that hardly made some refreshment, made a terrible noise - but this one, you can turn it off - thats when I understood why almost all windows were open at 2 am. The second source of noise is the air extraction at the bathroom - a non stopping brruoooooom all night and day, impossible to turned off. And the third source of noise are the compressors outside (see picture) in the patio, below the windows - that you cannot turned off neither... The bathroom had some particularities, one already solved with a good quantity of glue (picture); another was the place to seat - try not have your elbows hurt the glass or the wall, there is nearly 56 cm in between (picture). By the way, if you are not particularly fond of body fluids of previous guests, better take a good look at the chair before use it (picture). Did I mention their notion of room decoration includes words written in blood color in dark grey walls? It's a matter of taste. By the way, breakfast is a small buffet, with 2 varieties of cheese, pork and turkey ham, and mortadella; 2 yoghurts, fruit salad, white and dark bread, tomato, cucumber, all-bran, oats with seeds, scrambled and boiled eggs. Butter, honey and two jams. Machine juices and coffee. And a choice of a few teas. Small croissants and rolls baked in the moment were the best. The problem was that every single day it was exactly the same stuff. Be aware that there are rooms (as n.120), where the bathroom door opens exactly 25 cm before hitting the bed ... that must be pulled against the window and be with the head removed!

« Great location; everything else was average »

In close proximity to the museums and the shopping area. Janik from reception was super helpful. So so shower, and shampoo was strangely placed above the sink while hand soap was inside the shower. Small rooms but clean and generous supply of coffee and tea.

    « Amazing location - uncomfortable rooms! »

This hotel is a great choice... if you don't need to be comfortable! The good value for money include a great location (close to the city centre, the museum quarter and the top-level shopping street in Amsterdam) but the very tiny rooms, with a design that cannot make you feel happy. So, my dear business travelers: I cannot recommend it to you!

The staff was very kind and helpul. Breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, we had to put on earplugs because of the noise of the air circulation system. Moreover, the exiguity of the bathroom is a problem and water flew off below the shower door.

« Good Hotel for Family with Young Kids in Amsterdam »

Awesome reception staff, all very helpful. Especially the one who checked us in. She saw that our child (supposedly free when extra bed not requested) is a big child so she went out her way to check if there will be available room that will offer comfort for the three of us! When she found us there is one triple room, she gave us the free upgrade! This means a HUGE deal. With one parent traveling with two children, she is God-send! Don't anyone just like it when hotel staff makes going away from home feels like home? Thank you! The room we had is great for three people with a good view of the canal. The hotel is literally less than fifty steps away from Rikjsmuseum. And few more steps from Museumplein and basically very near to all the places who wanted to visit in Amsterdam. Well, using the tram and metro, of course for some! It was very easy for us to go to and from the airport to this hotel. Less than hour even, with kids! The breakfast is really good. We stayed for five nights and had breakfast for four days, there are a lot of selection. Even the kids just enjoyed their start of the day. The tea selection is good, but no free bottled water. Few drinks, bottled water included, are available for purchase at the lobby for a really expensive price. Small bottled water costs 4 euros! The cons - There is very low WIFI signal at certain times of the day, early morning and late at night. The room smells like uncleaned toilet especially when we entered the room for the first time. There is also an incident of room not being cleaned during our first night. I put the housekeeping door sign and make sure it says clean the room but when we get back after a long first day of tour, the sign faces the "Do Not Disturb", and the room was not cleaned. Not sure how that happened. Overall, this hotel is a great option in Amsterdam for families!

« Great Service. Room Very Cold and Damp. »

Service was excellent. Our room was very cold and damp. We both have respiratory problems and started wheezing while staying there. Staff turned heating off while we were out. We wanted changes of towels as we knew they would not dry. One towel was damp and had lipstick marks on it. Neither of us were wearing lipstick. The staff did give us extra pillows and a duvet to share. Our room was a trin room in the basement. Avoid at all costs.

« Amazing hotel in the perfect location! »

Hotel was amazing. When we first arrived we were asked for €90 deposit on credit card with no choice for giving in cash which we weren't very happy about but couldn't fault the hotel apart from that, we stayed for 4 nights in February for my birthday and had a great time. The bed was massive and super comfy, only downside to the room was the rather see-through bathroom door but it didn't bother us too much. WIFI worked a treat and the password was supplied with the room key so I didn't have to ask for it which was very easy! Supermarket was 5 minutes round the corner so we could get our drinks and snacks from there to enjoy whilst watching tv in bed(TV channel list provided in room and plenty of English channels). The Hard Rock Cafe was just over the road and there were loads of restaurants and shops just 5/10 minutes walk away. We got the iAmsterdam card which I would definitely recommend as we had the option to just hop on the tram to city centre each day/night. The city was beautiful and we found so many amazing restaurants to eat in each night as well as the little bakery just round the corner that sold the best churros. Room was cleaned and fresh towels were given daily. Couldn't fault the hotel. Just a shame we didn't find the 'mini card' attraction cards until the day we were leaving, they were located downstairs by the reception toilets and the hotel didn't advertise them. I think this was an amazing selling point and each guest should be told about the cards cause they save money on Amsterdam experiences. Will definitely be looking to stay at the hotel again in the future.

« Amazing location, zero noise isolation »

If you are looking for a hotel right in the center, next to all the great places in Amsterdam, this will be it. It's a nice hotel, friendly staff, clean and spacious enough rooms. However (as in many other hotels) the noise isolation is really not existing. I could hear people speaking, phones ringing, TVs all night long. I really could not sleep.

    3
« Size of the room »

We were disappointed with the size of the room. Much too small. Although it was a double room. We anticipated something more large. It was difficult to move around. Apart from that no other problem, but this is an important issue!!

    « Avoid this Hotel »

First day arrive in Amsterdam, When checked in to this hotel, they informing their reservation system error and cannot locate my reservation which was made days before arrival, and the room is fully booked (but I saw a girl checking it after me and get a room), they move me to another BW Hotel in Wyhndam (which is its location is not the best for the first timer in Amsterdam) and promised we can move back to this hotel the day after. On Second day we request a room back in this hotel and they gave us, a smelly room on the basement, and with a very Rude answer that the only room can be given. a Very very disappointing experience, never go for Best Western Group hotel chain again, specially this hotel. My suggestion is find another hotel which know how to handle guests. This hotel really ruining my holiday in Amsterdam.

    « Excellent stay »

When me and my partner arrived we were glad that we could easily check in even though it had gotten a bit late in the evening. The service was great, and we could easily find our room. It was clean but a little small, and the bathroom didn't seem to be made for 2 people to occupy it at the same time. Nevertheless it was still a nice room and it provided us with everything we needed. Breakfast the next morning was good, and we got a discount on it since we ordered it at the front service when we checked in. We didn't encounter any problems and enjoyed our stay.

« Good hotel in excellent location for museums and concert hall »

Inside this was a modern-looking hotel in an older building. It is within a 5-minute walk of the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and also the Concert Hall. The bedroom (room 406) was good and quiet, although not large, but slightly larger than the Best Westen hotel in Berlin Mitte. The wash basin looked very modern, but because of the horizontal pipe through which water came out, it would be impossible for hair washing. Overall though a good hotel.

    « Nice, well-located hotel, BUT »

This was my second visit to the Apollo Museum Hotel as I stayed there in 2013. I love the location very near the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam's other art major museums as well. The staff are very friendly. The hotel is on good public transport routes with good trams and on the 197 busline to Schiphol Airport The main problem--and it is probably a problem for Amsterdam as a whole--is that the hotel is very expensive. Last time, owing to a mix-up by the booking agency, we got a very nice upgrade. This time, my initial single room was exceedingly small. When I returned after a day away, I was given an "upgrade" to a room with a double bed, but the room was still exceedingly small and there was barely room to put my suitcases. The bathrooms were really tiny. The costs for the room varied from Euros 189 plus tax during the week and Euros 339 plus tax on the Friday. These prices are really absurd. At such prices, one would expect both some space and some luxury. For example, a softer, more absorbent toilet paper would seem appropriate for rooms with such high prices. I really like this hotel and would stay there again, but something needs to be done with the prices! (I am now staying in a very nice New York hotel with about twenty times the space, many more facilities and the price is US$360, less than the weekend price for the Museum Hotel.)

    5
« The staff at Museumhotel is responsive and cares about the guest's experience »

After staying in several expensive hotels in Amsterdam, I chose to return to Museumhotel because of the most responsive team of hospitality professionals. It's a very well managed hotel in a great location!

« Clean, EXCELLENT LOCATION, Happy with our stay »

Got a good price for a weekend stay of Sat. & Sun. and after contemplating all the previous reviews (good, bad, and concerning), we decided to take a chance and go with it. We are happy with our experience. Arriving early in the morning after overnight flight, the front desk was happy to help us with luggage storage for the day until our room was available. They set us up with maps and information about the area. Upon return we were assigned a room on the first floor (main floor). It was small as most European rooms are, but the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was minimal noise for the weekend nights. We had breakfast included, and it was typical of any breakfast in a hotel. Fresh baked croissants, fruit, meat & cheese selection, eggs that Europeans just can't seem to get right (in my opinion), and juices, coffees, teas. The service was attentive and she was busy filling empty stations. One thing that we didn't care for was the bathroom. It was really, really tiny and essentially tucked into a corner of the room. I would compare it to the size of our RV bathroom! Because we know how to utilize that kind of space we managed for the weekend. The frosted glass door to the bathroom (not the shower stall) was virtually clear glass when the light was on, so showering, using the toilet, or washing is seen by anyone in the room. That was uncomfortable - even for a married couple of 26 years. Sometimes you just want privacy. They need to change those doors. We would return again as the positives outweighed the negatives.

    « Museumsvisit »

The hotel has an excellent location, but the rooms are of varying size and quality. Some are very small. We used the hotel breakfast which was of average quality. Was not tempted to have any other meals at the hotel. The room price was high and we felt that we could get more value for money at more upmarket hotel in the neighborhood.

    4
    « Good hotel »

We stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is well located. The rooms were nice and the shower good. Wasn't too keen on the frosted glass bathroom door. The cleaners were also very noisy in the morning and started cleaning very early!! The city tax payment is taken on check out which was strange as it would make more sense to do it at check in to aid a more seamless check out. But overall it was a good place to stay in Amsterdam. Only a two minute walk from the airport bus stop think it was the 192 and only €5 each way to airport.

    « Truely a blessing for me?? »

This hotel was a blessing to us since the apartment we booked was worst than a haunted house. On searching for a hotel in the central area we found this one. With the canal restaurants Heineken and other attractions at walking distance: this hotel is a perfect place to stay in. Since it was an on the spot booking for us we were allotted -1 level rooms. The rooms were pretty clean and well maintained. The staff was also very friendly unlike the people of amsterdam. Since we dint understand the local language of amsterdam & on asking the receptionist during check-in if we could park the car outside she said we could and the very next day our car got towed and had to pay a heavy fine a really heavy one(400€). Ps: the local language and the board says the parking is meant only for electric cars. The hotel needs to train its staff well so that the guests(tourists) dont face any problem. This being a personal experience the hotel is really good and worth staying in.

« Got to hotel to find there was no room! »

I have a very bad impression of this hotel - my room had been booked for two weeks yet when I arrived I was told 'there was a problem with the computer' and 'they didn't have a room' - having already charged me for the room! They arranged for a room in another hotel which was of a lower standard and not the sort of place I'd usually stay but at 11 pm I didn't really have much option. The one good thing to say was both were in a good location for the museums.

    3
    « our overnight stay »

The room was for a up-graded room very room and basic the bathroom no space, no electric next to the bed to charge for your i-phone. And the price was 190 dollar, so for us was this the last time. Now we understand the airbnb in Amsterdam More value for your money.

    3
    « Good location »

The hotel is well located. We the room would be small and it was. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was not comfortable and the breakfast was very bad. Hotel was clean and looked nice, but it is about time to update it a little bit.

    2
« Not worth such price »

There are rooms which are located in a -1 level (my view it's just a basement). The view is poor (patio) and the temperature is low (need for additional radiator). Even tough the room doesn't seems to be small, but the desk is badly located and really inconvenient to use. Having in mind that breakfast is charged additionally and the choice is limited I don't want to visit it again.

    3
« Only Stay Here if It's All that you can find »

My husband and I went on a last minute trip to Amsterdam, so we could only book our hotel about 2 weeks ahead. He was traveling for work and I decided to tag along. Here's the deal... Staying here for four nights has been fine, but not great. Stay somewhere else if you can find it, but at the last minute, if this is all you can find in Amsterdam, don't be too worried: Good things: location is easy for quick tram ride to old city and museums Room is clean Interior rooms are quiet Bad Things: avoid a basement room if you can - feels kinda dungeon-like. Small space, but if you're traveling light, you'll be fine Our shower drain is smelly!!! Probably because we are in the basement. The bed and pillows are TERRIBLE - OMG, I am usually not picky about a hotel bed, but I've never stayed in one this stiff and lumpy before. I'm pretty sure the hotel was originally built with shared hall bathrooms, but they recently squeezed in tiny bathrooms in the corner. Hotels are tough to find in Amsterdam! This one does the trick but you won't recommend it to others.

    3
    « Good Location »

Very good location for the museums and city is easily walkable. Canal boats are just over the road. The 197 airport bus stops just around the corner. Seems expensive for what you get. No lounge to sit in so have to sit in bedroom which is very small and only one chair.

Stayed with my sister for a two night mini break. The hotel is right next to the museum district and designer shopping street. Standard room over the entrance was quiet and comfortable. The room itself was not the most spacious but as we only used the room to sleep and shower was large enough for the both of us.

    « Finally....room with a view »

I reserved / prepaid in full, this hotel in January and expected the Upon arrival a decent roo. Got to desk from airport, at 5 pm the only room they had was in the lowest basement area. The high basement window caught smoke from " the guys" smoking outside. But last room?? So this aspect was pretty horrid when a hotel is welcoming tired cranky travelers. Promise of better room for the balance of our stay and got it. Still small room, but for big city that's still ok. Breakfast was decent included w our room. Location perfect for museum lovers. I'd come back but only with confirmed room number!!

« Very well located hotel, perfectly comfortable if small rooms »

This hotel exceeded our expectations as set by some of the Trip Advisor reviews. Yes, the rooms are rather small and the bathrooms even smaller. But they are perfectly well-equipped, the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly; when we arrived, with a friend who had booked a single room, we were all slightly dissatisfied with the rooms allocated - our friend because hers was a bit like a prison cell (!) and we because we had only a shower, no bath. Without any fuss, we were all upgraded to much better rooms, with baths, and indeed our friend who had booked a single room was given a double room instead. We finished up on the ground floor, with large floor-to-ceiling windows which we could open to give air and light in the rooms. There is a pleasant bar in the foyer which we used each evening either before or after going out for dinner; the breakfast was fine, nothing special but quite adequate; and the location cannot be faulted, right next door to the Rijksmuseum and very close to both the Van Gogh museum and the bus stop for the 197 bus direct from the airport. The reception was also always happy to book restaurants for us each evening.

« good location for visiting RAI and the old town of Amsterdam »

Apollo Museumhotel ist very good placed in the Museum Quarter, the old town can be reached by foot in a few minutes as well as RAI congress center (about 20 minutes walk). The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable and clean. It might be a little bit uncomfortable, that the shower sets the bathroom under water and you need all available towels to dry it.

« good location, horrible people »

The people working there were very rude and not helpful. Good location and it was nice getting fresh fruit every morning. Service was horrible and we were not told there was a late fee and that we had to pay tax. It would have been nice to be told this from the start. Hey we're very rude when we brought up the money, it was 50 dollars..... that's a lot to not warn us about. Not a place I would recommend if you have children or if you can't stand rude staff. It was clean and easy to get to.

« Adequater hotel - clean and warm, with nice staff »

I stayed here from 5th - 7th April 2016. I found the accommodation to be of a good standard. The room was small, but they upgraded me (for no extra charge) to another which had a second small room adjoining. It was fine. The ensuite is quite small, but spotlessly clean. All the essentials are here - nice, warm showers, clean towels and linen, good breakfast, and free Wi-Fi. The staff were very pleasant, and made a few calls for me (to the airline & for taxis). One tried to explain that he would charge extra to my credit card on arrival, and if I used extras I could use it to offset them. I didn't understand that, and it did not make sense - however it did not happen, and the check-out experience 2 days later was fine, efficient and professional. Location for me was poor, as I was attending an EU Council meeting in Kattensburgerstraat which is quite some distance away. However, that was a (poor) recommendation of the Dutch Presidency, and no fault of the hotel's. There are a few pubs and restaurants closeby, and a tram stop around the corner. So all is good with this hotel and its location & facilities. You could do a lot worse. My only crib was my room was at the front, and with a broken window hinge (in the adjoining room), light traffic noise at night was disturbing. However, I reported it and am confident they will attend to it as promptly as they attend to everything else. Thank you Best Western. This is a good hotel & it serves its purpose

The hotel is clean and staff are helpful. It is handy for bars and restaurants but quite a way from Dam Square and The Red Light District. The room was very small for a cost in excess of £200 per night. Okay for a couple but not for sharing friends. Breakfast is very good with a wide choice of food and drinks and everything is well stocked and fresh.

« Tiny room but excellent location »

Reception area smart and modern and staff polite. Breakfast cold buffet more than adequate. Location excellent for all attractions - not 'right' in the thick of things - but a short walk away. Room huge disappoint - we had booked a twin room and it was £200 per night. It was very small and single beds tiny and pushed right next to each other. Room clean and shower room - small but modern. Tv and drink making facilities in room and hairdryer too.

Our travel plans had changed at last minute and needed a place to stay. We found out about the Apollo Museumhotel through booking.com. The staff was very friendly and helpful and it was easily one of the most pleasant hotel experiences we've ever had. :)

« Next to the Museumplein »

Well located adjacent to the Museumplein, All facilities were up to scratch. However bedroom was cramped. A 10-15 minute walk into the centre, if you want the tourist thing, but a good area nearby with plenty of decent restaurants if you're not seeking the city lights.

« Best General Purpose Hotel in Amsterdam »

Amsterdam is a tough place to deal with hotels. There are lots of them but heavy partying takes its toll on them and others just aren't as nice as I would expect in North America. But the hardest thing is finding a decent Breakfast, and in that regard, this hotel excells. It has the best Breakfast spread in the city. The staff works double time to make your stay easy and even without a formal concierge, they find everything from the right car service to the most exotic meal requests. I love this place and the staff. And they are RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the RIJKS Museum! You just can't do better.

For a short travel very excellent. The Service of the staff is perfect and friendly. The rooms are small but the bed is very good. Also the bath room is suitable. Only the Television programmes are not well opposed and also the most are in dutch.

    « Take care, 200€ for a 7m2 room »

We received a room that had no more than 7 m2, paying 200€ per night. Of course, we complained and we were given another room, but for the next day, so we had to sleep 1 night of our 3 nights in this small, overprized room

« Lovely stay in the center of Amsterdam »

The location of the hotel is wonderful, with in a 3 minute walking distance from the leidsesquare. The hotel staff was very friendly and gave some nice pointers of things we could visit. The breakfast had a lot of variety and was delicious. We had a great time !

« Nice hotel great location »

Stayed here with my partner for a long weekend, friendly staff great location very clean and tidy and quiet away from any street noise We were upgraded on arrival to an out building which had 2 rooms and was like an apartment block. Wasn't too happy to be charged an unexpected 150 euro deposit for damages which I didn't know about. Was even less happy when I got he refund and it was £25 less than what I paid. Not everyone can just hand over that money so think it should have been informed when booking. Would stay here again if I come back to the dam which hopefully I will!

« Clean, modern and central hotel with small rooms »

Amsterdam isn't the cheapest place for hotels, so this one is pretty good for the cost. The rooms are pretty small. But they are clean, modern and well equipped. Location is very good, you can walk from Amsterdam Centraal station or jump on a tram. It is a good base for exploring the city, even if we wouldn't like to spend too long in the room. We would stay here again.

    4
    « Great location »

Great location next to the Rijksmuseum, convenient for the city centre and all attractions. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Our room, on the fourth floor, was smaller than I had expected with a very small window so high up that we had to stand on the bed to look out of it! But a good hotel overall.

« Well located and good hotel »

Nice hotel in a pleasant area. We stayed there for two days and the location was perfect to visit what we decided to see. The hotel is nice, the staff is friendly. We will stay there again when We Will come back in Amsterdam.

« Best Western You Should Be Embarrased »

The staff was generally not helpful, we had difficulty getting our room cleaned daily, the smallest bathroom we have ever had,an average breakfast at best, may have been OK for a single but too small for a couple. After not having our room touched by staff for three days, I went to the front desk and asked for fresh towels but was told that they were very busy and they would try to get us towels. About twenty minutes later and to her credit, the person at the desk brought us towels -- It was 9PM and I don't think there any cleaning staff on duty. The positive: great location

    2
« Last minute price and it showed »

I booked last minute via booking.com for £60 (no breakfast) and got the smallest room I've ever stayed in. We were on a road trip and this was the worst hotel room so far. My husband had to put his legs up on the bed whilst I tried to pass through to the bathroom (Would make a much better staff stayover room) We'd stayed in the Czech Republic, all across Germany and Belgium, and even though I love Amsterdam, I wouldn't choose this hotel last minute again, as there are obviously 'last minute' rooms they put you in! The site said the full price for a room was between £200-300 - they would have to be AMAZING for that.

    2
« Avoid This Place (Small Uncomfortable Rooms) »

I got stuck here as part of a tour package and the room (#30) feels like a prison cell. The beds are like a sofa with a thin matress topper. The room is near the street and is loud to the point you here every car and people talking. I'm so thankful we booked a different hotel for a couple of nights before coming here. I would not stay here again if the room was free and can't wait to leave this place. Please note most of my reviews are 4 or 5 so this is an exception. I will say the front desk people are very nice and helpful.

    « Excelente servicio »

The best hotel I have been, all the staff was very nice and attentive, the room and hotel facilities were in perfect condition. Also the location is perfect for visiting Amsterdam, near the trains, buses and museums. The breakfast was good.

    « Nice stay »

We went to Amsterdam for a couple of day we only booked this hotel when we got there so wasn't expecting much but it was very nice an clean.the room we stayed in was very small but it had everything that you needed. The hotel is also on a row of design shops good for the lady's.

    3
    « Tiny room »

Room was tiny. Location near the museums was very good. Amenities were okay, and the breakfast buffet was decent. Staff were not very helpful though, I I got a hang up once when I called the desk to complain that I did not received a wake up call two days in a row.

    4
    « Easter weekend »

Hotel is clean and has all essentials, staff are welcoming, excellent value hotel. Situated on the corner of the main designer road including the likes of Louis Vuitton, Chanel etc. Shoppers paradise.

« One night check out before bringing company to the city for a Conference »

Location is good but there was a mix bag of people on arrival. One bloke didn't have a reservation, a lady was complaining about not being able to find a Pharmacist but I thought the check in staff were really friendly and probably have to put up with a lot of crap from people. Rooms are clean but small. Breakfast is quick but busy as a bus load of American tourists were in the neighbourhood. Car parking NONE. 30 Euros a night for your car to be taken away.

    5
    « Nice, great location »

Nice hotel, everything that you need, excellent staff. The one process that should be reviewed is the checkout process, very long line ups to check out. Decent size rooms for Europe, nice views of the canal.

    « Could do better »

I chose Best Western because other BW hotels in the UK have made a good impression. This was cramped, basic, room lighting was poor and tea facilities were not acceptable - paper cups, nasty no-brand tea etc.

    4
    « Clean & quiet but a little basic. »

We stayed in one of the attached apartments a few yards down the road from reception. Room was rather small and quite basic but perfect for a short stay as we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. Price was relatively good when compared to the rest of central Amsterdam. Close (5 mins walk) ro a lot of the restaurants but a good half hour from red light district etc. The staff, at least the two or three we dealt with, were lovely. Overall nice place to stay.

    5
    « Great Location »

Good location and a Clean room. Gerco on reception was very helpful and friendly. We usually stay near to Dam Square for convenience but I was delighted to find The Hard Rock Cafe and Holland Casino across the Street. Also only a 10 minute tram to Dam Square anyway.

    4
« Short stay in comfortable hotel well priced »

Clean room with smal, but luxury bathroom and good bed. Near all attraction, but also near to theather, cinema, rockpalace Paradiso and casino. Pefect location in central Amsterdam. Good breakfast. I would book this hotel next time too.

« This hotel is not that good »

I booked for one week at this hotel and actually ended up staying at several other hotels due to how awful this place was. We had initially had a regular room and were upgraded to a deluxe. Thank God for this as I could only imagine how awful a regular room is. We were on the 4th floor. The room was small. It was so small my wife and I had to walk around one at a time. The bathroom was small. The hot water knob at the sink was broken and it took one day to get it repaired. The shower had almost zero water pressure. My wife could not wash her hair as it would have taken her an hour to do so. For two days we had no toilet paper and nose tissue. Like I said, we stayed at other hotels and when we got back, the paper was still empty. I had to go down to the front desk to finally get some. By the way, the staff in the morning is good. The staff at night is horrible. They question you on everything as if you do not know how to use a hot water knob, etc. Next off, the bed was awful. I could feel the springs in my back. The pillows are square and half the size of a regular pillow. They are also like rocks. I woke up the next day and had to take Tylenol because of the neck pain. Seriously, this was not a good hotel for the amount of money it cost. I am not sure how it has such a high rating. Also, one elevator for the entire hotel. Good luck getting to your room in less than 10 minutes, especially if there is a bus tour group staying there. I will admit, the view from our room was of the two museums next door and the canal. This was nice and I am glad the morning employee upgraded us to this. Also, the buffet ended up being free for us and it was good. I would not however have paid the 12,50 euro each day they were charging. So, it is good if you can get it for free. Also, pay the extra 1 euro for the espresso. It is very good. So really, stay elsewhere. There a tons of other hotels in the area that are the same cost and better. Look at my other reviews as I stayed at two other hotels in the Amsterdam area that were significantly better than this place.

    4
    « Perfect location! »

This hotel is really perfectly located. You are next to Rijksmuseum and 5 min from Leidseplein on foot. The hotel was nice and clean. I was disturbed by a few minor things though. The faucets in the bathroom are so long that it is impossible to wash your face without hitting your head to the faucet. And the pillows are like the sofa cushions, so small and not very comfortable for a night sleep. But still I'd suggest it for the location.

    5
« Super location and great staff! we will definitely return. »

From check-in till check-out service was great! We celebrated my brothers birthday with the Family, the staff decorated the room completely! there is no better location in Amsterdam, right across the Rijksmuseum! walking distance from shops and nightlife, we enjoyed our weekend and will definitely return to the Museumhotel.

    4
    « Good comfortable stay »

Stayed in June 2015 with a group. The hotel is nicely situated close to Vondelpark in the museum district. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area and public transport can easily get you anywhere in the city. The hotel was clean and the rooms were small but had everything you needed. The breakfast was good in the morning with a good choice. I would stay here again.

    2
« Great Location but clueless staff »

A lot of interactions with the front desk left us feeling exhausted and frustrated. A lot of key information was left out until it was time to pay. One example is with the hotel parking valet service. It is 6 EUR cheaper, yet they neglected to tell us that the company requires 2 hours notice on the time you would like to receive your car. The staff were greatly lacking in their customer service and transparency in their services.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

Good location, very reasonable price. I have spent hundreds of one night stays in Amsterdam and been in some terrible Hotels. However, this is not one of them. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely stay here again

« One night stay in Amsterdam for a business meeting »

Hotel OK; best possible location in that part of town. Room very small but then not too expensive. Internet very good + printing facilities. Reception OK and fast. Storage facility for luggage OK. Single bed could well be wider and shower floor unecessarily slippery.

    4
    « Perfect location »

It's was nice location perfect for Holliday , the room was clea but small , staff were very helpful all the time can talk about food Cus I did not try the hotel restaurant but it look ok in my pint of view and the price was excellent

« good trip to Amsterdam »

good location and staff very helpful but starting to look a little tired certainly in the room where I stayed. but clean. I was visiting with my granddaughter and the location was literally up her street as we were located on what appears to be one of the best shopping streets in Amsterdam.

    3
« smallest room ever, great location »

This was really the only hotel room that was available at the time as there was some conference going on so we had to book it. Location: great location, very central! Room: clean but very cramped! you can literally wash your hands and take a poop at the same time... very tiny washroom Internet: works fine in the lobby

    « Highly recommended »

I really enjoyed the stay in Best Western Apollo Museumhotel. I like the peaceful and convenient location of the hotel. At the same time, the guest room was very clean and cozy. I wlil choose this hotel next time I will be in Amsterdam.

« Fab hotel in amazing amsterdam »

Really good hotel, our room on floor two over looked the canal and was right in the middle of the museum area of Amsterdam. Nice room lovely comfortable bed. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the buffet style breakfast had loads of choice and really set you up for the day...

    « Birthday weekend »

Ideal location close to trams which give easy access to all attractions , we bought a 3 day pass at station and was a good idea . Staff very welcoming on arrival and although we were early our room was ready for us. Room was of average size but more than adequate for a weekend stay. Tv and wifi available. Tea and coffee in room which was good but had to ask for top up as was not replaced when room cleaned. Room cleaned each day and fresh towels. Shower worked well . Air con effective. The barman was very pleasant on the evenings we came back from town . Breakfast was good choice of continental offerings and plenty of it as well as scrambled eggs. We told reception the first night so got a discount, but forgot on the other two nights so charged the full €12.50 but that was our fault. On check out there were taxes added to bill which we didn't expect . Overall great location, great staff we had a fab time in Amsterdam will be back. We had already booked hotel and read reports after and it worried us slightly as to what we might find, but we were very satisfied. F&E London

    2
    « Poor bathroom »

It was a quick check in, obviously the manager does not check if the room is OK. It looks like the guest should do an assessment if all is well and up and running. I wish i could have a normal shower and i could

    2
« Very small room - not great price/quality ratio. »

Never seen such a small hotel room: we couldn't even walk around the bed as a piece of furniture was in the way, against the bed due to the size of the room. Not a good price/quality ratio. Very good location though (right next to the museums).

    4
    « Emergency hotel »

While the building is not 100% of what you'd expect from a hotel the personnel does a great job in solving any issues. The location is great and the surrounding fantastic. We need wheelchair access and that was via the goods elevator at a side entrance, so there was a need for one of us to go inside and get help from the staff to get the other in. Not very nice at all. Also as with most hotels there were some issues with cleaning, but then there almost always are.

    3
    « Standard chain hotel »

Location is deffo a bonus with this hotel in museum area and only a 10 minute walk to Leisplein Square, 20 mins to Rembrandt Square and around 30 mins to Dam Square. We were 2 hours early for check in but this wasn't a problem and we were in our room within 5 mins!! Be aware that they take between €40 and €50 per night off your card as a deposit. They refund you this when you leave but it could be a problem for people with limited spends. There is also a hotel tax that had to be paid before leaving but is only a few euros per night. Room was standard and fine - king size bed that was really comfy. Rooms could be very cold at times and the heat setting on aircon wasn't great!! Bathroom was very modern and nice with a good shower and lovely towels. There is only a continental breakfast on offer which was €12.50 but I'd recommend walking to the sports bar in Leidsplein Square for a huge full English with toast, brew and orange juice for only €11!! All in all was a good hotel for the price and had no real complaints.

« What we needed it to be »

The name "museumhotel" couldn't be better placed. You can see the Rijksmuseum from the breakfast hall as you eat in the morning and being so centrally located close to 4 tram lines makes getting to most of the major attractions really easy. Room wise, as we were staying a week we were upgraded to a "deluxe" room on checking in. I know some have complained about the size of the room but the deluxe room was pretty decent; tea/coffee facilities, nice bit of space with a sofa to sit on. There was an issue with the TV when we arrived where you would get sound but it took 15 minutes to get a picture. It took a bit of time but it was replaced, not that this was a big issue. You don't go on holiday to watch TV though it was appreciated. The bed (which was 2 singles pushed together) was actually very comfortable. Neither my wife or myself like really soft beds and getting a decent, firm bed made sleep much easier. Breakfast was OK rather than great. It certainly wasn't bad but there were a couple of tweaks I would make such as an increase in cereal options and more warm items than just eggs. That said I can't complain about the quality and taste of what was on offer which more than filled a hole every day. The coffee was also really lovely and strong. The one bit that does need changing with breakfast is the system where everyone has to fill out the breakfast voucher every day. Whilst I understand that this is a system that works, it's really tedious on holiday to have to fill one out every day. I do wonder if moving to a system where guests are checked off on a list might be better. The staff are friendly, polite and were quick to answer any questions that I had. One of the front desk staff was even handy at pulling a pint. Overall I'd recommend this hotel given the experience that my wife and I had. The location is brilliant, the room I had was nice, the one issue we had was taken care of quickly, the breakfast (despite my suggested improvements) was nice. My wife and I aren't ones for spending tons of time in our rooms, we only went there to chill out for a couple of hours before sleeping but it did everything we needed it to. We'd visit again.

    5
« Nice stay in Amsterdam »

Great for an private lovely trip, helpful staff. Recommend upgrading to the larger rooms as the standard rooms are quite small. Otherwise all great! was incredibly helpful. Always an enjoyable stay. We just missed an parking place near the hotel but the Solution with the parking service was acceptable even very expensive.

    1
« Good location, tiny rooms »

Rooms were just about big enough to fit a bed in, even the "upgrade to deluxe" option. Curtains in the bedroom had stains on them. Bottle of water is 4 euro. The hotel itself is poor but it is beside a boat stop for the jump on jump off tours, and is just around the corner from van Gogh and rijksmuseum

    3
    « Small rooms »

The only real downside is how small the rooms are. It's smaller than a stay in your usual budget hotel such as ibis. However, we spent most of our time out of the room and the location really made up for it. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The room was cleaned perfectly on the first day , not as good on the second. There's no room service and the bar has limited offerings. We didn't have breakfast included so can't comment on that. If you're a big couple or just like your space, ID probably avoid the regular rooms.

    3
    « Good location »

Good hotel though our double room was very small. Moving around in the room was difficult as the large bed took up most of the space. The bathroom was superb - very modern with a large shower Breakfast very good.

    1
    « Avoid »

I had the misfortune of staying here for 4 days. After the 2nd night I woke up to what looked like a mosquito bite, and then it all came out, allergic reaction to the bed bugs that were chomping on me. More than 10 bites on my upper body. I caught the one culprit much to my disgust. Hotel manager was not available so I had to wait more than an hour for him, I suppose he was nice enough, they gave me a new room and a bottle of wine to apologise but this was too little too late for me. He assured me the housekeeping manager would sort it out, however this should not have happened to begin with. The rooms are not clean, and I certainly have no intention of staying in this hotel again. The rooms are cramped, you can literally fall off the toilet into the shower. The kettle did not work. I think that housekeeping and maintenance has a lot to work on in this hotel to improve the standard that you pay for.

    3
    « Birthday week trip »

The hotel has given me mixed feelings, firstly the location is superb couldn't have been better - easy walking distance to the trams, parks, shops etc. What i found to be unrealistic was the room size for the price and the fact that as a 3 star not even soap was offered. We didn't even choose the breakfast option. The room it'self was not clean we found lots of dirt and dust and eventually ants in the minibar from one of our nights of takeaway. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's perfect for young people who are always out and about, however for couples it's not my recommended choice.

    3
    « Florent »

Hotel in a beautiful location. The hotel has an old and new part. The old part is average quality. The room was small but clean. The bathroom has a single format! The breakfast was more than average.Staff was friendly

    « Hotel review »

For the price and location great spot. Hotel staff are very nice. However room could have been bigger. As well first day the room near our room smell was really bad like garbage. But overall it was a good room.

    2
    « A real mixed bag »

This hotel proves to be a real mixed bag. It has quite a bit going for itself - the superb location and the gorgeous exterior of the building. But it doesn't live up to create a great experience. I had my third stay here last week, and by now am put off from staying here again. The rooms and bathrooms are very small to start off with, and have such tiny windows that one feels trapped inside. So many of the rooms don't seem to have any thing on the walls, not one bit of effort made to improve it aesthetically, and that's really quite depressing. The television remote was broken and hence the tv wouldn't function. The room was of course quite cold at night, and I had been sick through most of my stay anyway. They were kind enough to give me a radiator for the night, so I'm thankful for that. What I really did not appreciate is that when I requested 2 hours extra in the morning before I checked out (so at 13.00 instead of 11.00), stating that I was quite unwell, the receptionist said I must pay the extra charge per hour. The amount was not of concern, but just the fact that they could not be considerate enough towards a guest who had stayed so many nights and was sick more importantly, really put me off. Other hotels have always been accommodating and compassionate - but not Best Western Apollo Museum. Agreed, guests check in at 15.00 and you need the room to be ready in time for that. What's the deal with needing so many hours when there are only 3 things at most in the room to put in order? ESPECIALLY after I saw how the house keeping did the cleaning in my room the previous day. My bed was HALF MADE when I returned home in the evening (I'm attaching an image here too). I had a reservation here to return this week, but I've cancelled that already. And I probably won't be staying here again in the near future.

« good, price & location, small room »

We were quite happy with the stay in walking-distance to the city center and museums. The room was quite small, but very clean and absolutely fine for one night. With more luggage it could become too cosy. Overall good hotel for a weekend trip, since you do not waste any time for a commute to the city center.

    1
« Don't stay here, find somewhere else. »

Incredibly small and badly equipped standard rooms. Upgraded to deluxe, which was larger, but also of a poor standard. Tiny bathroom with smelly drainage. All lights operated from a single switch, so all on, or all off. Together with stark white walls with no decoration at all, it was difficult to relax in this room. No seating from which to view strangely located TV. Frankly, the overall standard is very poor. Staff were friendly, but of course unable to rectify these fundamental problems.

« Very nice hotel, value for money, easy transport »

Stayed here one night in Sep 2015. Very nice hotel, definitely value for money, love the room and toilet. Easy access to public transport. There are trams (forgot the numbers) that goes to central station.

    « Had a great stay »

This hotel was decent enough , it is about 15 minutes on the tram from the train centre station , rooms are decent and staff are super friendly you are asked for 60 Euro deposit when you arrive also. But you get this back within 7-10 working days. Alot of shopping near by and the I am Amsterdam sign just around the corner thank you for the great stay.

    1
« Find somewhere else to stay »

I could write of the cramped rooms with nowhere to place a bag but balanced on top of the tiny wardrobe; I could tell you about the broken windows; the lack of heating in room 301; wearing all my clothes to bed for the first time in my life; the constantly running extractor fan in the bathroom; the radio alarm left set for 0530; the unhelpful and rude staff (Nick being the sole exception); the non-existent management; the terrible coffee; the lack of local knowledge of the tram network (it comes to something when a hotel guest knows more about the tram across the road than the reception staff). I could tell you of this and more but it would be easier to tell you to find somewhere else to stay. At any cost.

    2
« I would definitely NOT come back again »

My first impressions were good. Then I got really disappointed. I stayed there for a week. I believe this place would have higher rating for a short stays. Things I didnt like: 1. Noisy rooms. Door were paper-thin. Every time someone was passing next to my door I could exactly tell you what are they talking about. When someone from different room was opening door it almost fell like yours were opened. 2. There were some toiletries provided at the beginning of my stay. None of them ever refilled during the week. Also, small lotion was filled up after someone else instead of giving a new one. I found it quite disgusting. 3. The cleaning crew does almost nothing. I found bugs in my room. On the daily basis they only make bed and supply fresh towels. No other cleaning really. 4. My window was facing glass elevator. I found it quite disturbing. In the evening guests going to their rooms had full view on what happens in my place. I had to have my curtains pulled all the time. The only good thing was location. I believe for that price there have to be some better choices out there.

    5

Our first impressions of the hotel were very good, it was easy to find and well presented. The staff were very accommodating and gave us a local insight into the best foods, clubs in Amsterdam. The location itself was very close to the team stops and 'the square' in Leidseplein. This was where we spend the majority of our visit as it was only a short 5 minute walk away and was full of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and had the main line of shops leading from it into central Amsterdam. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Amsterdam and the best western Apollo museumhotel and will definitely be returning! I would recommend buying an Iamsterdam card before travelling to Amsterdam, for €75 you have a free map, free metro travel, bus travel within Amsterdam city centre and also a discount of 25% in most attractions and free entry into others.

« Very nice hotel, great location »

I visited Amsterdam several times, and this is one of my favorite hotels. Its has really good location, there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. The staff is friendly and the rooms are nice. It is located on a quite street, so you can sleep well at night.

« Excellent location, reasonable priced »

Hotel is very good located, very near Rijksmuseum, van Gogh museum, the Hermitage, Concert Hall and centre Amsterdam. Rooms are very basic. Breakfast moderate. But price is reasonable. Therefore we will certainly come back again.

    « Great location »

Great location! The double-bed rooms are pretty small but enough for a short stay in Amsterdam! The beds are very comfy and room service good too...... The bathrooms are very small and our was not well ventilated . . .but the price and location make up for it!

« Can get better for your money »

Had to pay on arrival either 50 euros cash or 30 euros on card per night as a deposit we were not told this when booking with late rooms so left us short for our stay, small bottles of water were 4 euros at reception very expensive, never ate in the restaurant so couldn't comment on the food, bill at the end of the stay even charged us for using the hand wash, room looked clean upon arrival but did find ants on the bed the second night, bed was small and uncomfortable, room also very small couldn't of stayed there much longer ideal for a weekend stay, no bath but shower are was nice, room also had a hairdryer & tea/coffee making facilities, good area close to centre but would definitely stay somewhere else next time, wifi was free but never worked unless you paid an extra 8 euros per hour to have it faster but wouldn't bother most of the bars and cafes offered free wifi

    4
    « Great value »

We only needed a room for a night so didn't want to spend a lot. We chose the Apollo because it was only £50 for the night but it was also a great hotel. For such a clean and comfortable room, in one of the best locations, that's great value. Lovely staff too.

    3
« the room was a bit too small »

the location and staff is great, but the minibar was empty and the bathroom door literally touched the bed. the location is a few minutes from the main shopping street and the apple store which is nice.

« Good value for money »

2 night Business trip. Found parking space every time right in front of Hotel, which is great considering the downtown Location. Staff is friendly, room is clean enough. Location is brilliant. Single room is small (bathroom door open means you cannot enter bathroom from one side since the door hits your bed...consider it a morning exercise). Airco made noise, but could turn it off and open a window. Bathroom smelled like ist an old bathroom, but not to extent you rather take a bath in the Rijksmuseum fountain. TV channels all didnt work properly, but the free wifi was pretty good (paid wifi also available at higher Speed). Considering the Price and the Location i find this a good pick and would recommend this Hotel, especially to tourists!

    « 4 days in Amsterdam »

Amazing Reception. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is great! Next to the hotel there is a peacefull and clam place (Hard rock cafe, Casino Amsterdam and more). If you like the nightlife, in couple of minutes of walk you've got tha Leidzplain - a lot of pubs, coffeshops, fast food - Suitable for young people that want to fall in love in this city.

    3
    « Ants »

Ants in the rooms. Changed room, but that didn't help. Nice location though, easy to get to and from airport, was kind of cold in the room, blankets are very thin. But my room had four windows and it was very cold outside.Breakfast is typical, nothing exiting.

    « Apollo »

Very nice good location and was a very pleasant stay, would certainly come back again in the near future, girlfriend was unsure at the start but soon enough she was settling in. Was handy with the location as she studies history of art and we had the museums very close to hand, plus the bars and restaurants were close not to mention the trams too all in all enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone and everyone to stay, staff were polite and friendly and very helpful with accommodating our needs apon arrival

    « Bad stay »

I had to spend 2 nights. The only thing i've asked for, was to have a bed for 2. I've got 2 separated beds, the room has broken parts on the wall, in the shower. The tv was not working properly and when i've asked to have another bed, i had to wait the day after.. To expensive for the confort i got.

« BEST WESTERN Apollo Museumhotel Amsterdam City Centre »

Hotel was expensive for the Service offered. Room was small and nice but there was not cleaning Service everyday and staff was not very friendly. Location was a Highlight but I think you can find something better for the Price.

« Awful, not sure what else to say »

Whilst this hotel is a great location for those wanting to stay in the city, not much can be said for my stay. I was put in room 25 which is right next to reception. At first I was sent to the basement floor only to find that my room was on the ground floor, thanks! The room was tiny, the bed very squeaky and I was provided with one square pillow that resembled a sofa cushion - hardly adequate! I didn't sample the restaurant in the evening so cannot comment on that however the breakfast was very disappointing considering the additional €10 charge per day, providing you book in advance. Very little selection and they have the cheek to charge an extra €1 for a cappuccino or espresso and €4.50 if you would like fresh orange juice! Eggs are also an additional charge of around €3. I stuck to watered down fruit salad and some sort of yoghurt - I can't get on with cold plastic meat and cheese for breakfast. I was also confused why I had to fill out a small form every day at breakfast - why can't the staff just take my name and room number prior to sitting down like most normal hotels do?! To summarise - I wouldn't come back unless I was on a "lads weekend away", being intoxicated may actually make it half decent.

« Professional, comfortable, and good value for money »

I stayed here on a minicruise weekend with my partner for one night, and can't recommend it highly enough. The staff were welcoming and approachable, and knowledgeable on the area and the city. The hotel is well decorated, in a beautiful building, and the rooms as equally tasteful and comfy. The bathroom is luxurious with a large walk in shower, just remember to put a towel down an inch or 2 away from the shower screen on the outside incase the water leaks. Breakfast was ample and showcased both local and continental items in a self-service buffet style, and in our case was included in the price, as otherwise was a bit steep at €10.50. Have recommended this to friends and family already, and would do so to anyone looking for nice sized rooms in a very convenient, pleasant, and exclusive area. Great access to museumplein, Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, Leidseplein, and various bars and restaurants to accommodate all tastes.

« Bed bugs and ants!!!! »

Not clean, bug infestation!!!! I would never go there again, spent there the worst night in Amsterdam, or worst night in any hotel ever :( First I saw a few ants on my bed and then later when I went to sleep I was texting my friend and saw this grose bug near my face when the screen light got to her. The bug ran away and I couldnt sleep until I was to tired to stay awake. Now I have a rash and also headaches, nausea, sweating at one time and having chills on the other. Didnt know why I feel that way until I've read about those bed bugs online. As it turns out the best thing to do is go see a doctor because Im having an allergic reaction. Not to mention Ive read they can transmit some kinds of desease. Ruined my vacation!!!! Besides that room is not that nice and not so clean, bed and pillows uncomfortable. Neigbour next to us was wathing tv all night and it was so loud loke he turned it to the highest volume. :/

« Short break at short notice »

We booked the evening before arriving. Everything was fine and we were made to feel really wellcome Small room with big bed (almost larger than the room, but never mind that) and very nice en-suite bathroom with chique shower. Nice marble everywhere! Super view of lovely lit-up Rijksmuseum at night. Will return, don't know when, but once, surely...

    4
    « Pretty Good »

Just returned from a three night stay at the Apollo Museum Hotel. Service from all staff we encountered was very good, room was lovely, very clean, although the balcony was pretty dirty with a large pile of used cigarette butts & general dirty on the ledges. Location was great, just a few short minutes walk into the centre. Id most certainly return again

    1
    « Never again »

Manners from staff disgusting. Hidden charges everywhere. Obviously something is going wrong at the hotel. 90percent away from room. But I drank 138euros off beer. And another customer happened to him

    3
    « Sleeping? »

Location is good. It is close to premium brand shops and also night clubs. It takes average 20-30 mins to walk to Dam square. Beds were strange. Small actually. I felt i was going to fall down during my sleep. I woke up because of this emotion so many times. My friend fell down from the bed. She had the same feeling. In the bed before using I found lots of hair. It was disgusting. They do not have towel flip flops (slippers). Bring your own. I didn't have breakfast there, but I checked the bar. The breakfast is poor for me. it was like coffee and some snacks.

    « good hotel »

Its a good hotel for a very short stay, the rooms and bathrooms are way too small. good location near the museum quarter, staff was okay, didn't eat at the hotel but there were always people eating. okay for a quick stay.

« You pay for the location... »

I usually stay at best western due to their price/quality ratio so I gave this one a try. Honestly, this was VERY AVERAGE. Check in took forever, the front desk staff was very vague regarding parking, I asked the front desk for a cheaper nearby option and all he said was "DONT KNOW". Also, please do not pay for breakfast, it is extremely overpriced and mediocre, for that price you can get a feast at nearby McDonalds and it would still be better. Finally, they do not have double beds, they advertise as if they did but they do not. In the end you pay for the location, next to everything but too expensive.

    « Location location location »

Lovely visit. My next place when next I'm in town. I hope my experience will be better. There's always room for improvement. I liked the layout of the bathroom (maximising the space you've got.) maybe the carpets could do with some underlay as its was pretty hard.

« Shame, an old mentality of management »

Breakfast is very poor. Frozen croissant and bread are typical of a 2stars hotel. For the fantastic location this Hotel has, please ask 10 euro more for the room and not to ask extras for a fried egg or a fresh orange juice. Unfortunately this is an old mentality. No perspective of a good future. This means that they are only looking for numbers not guests. Furthermore the breakfast room is very cold, we were obliged to have breakfast with coats on.No way!!

« The best Location and price »

We have honeymoon stay during our euro trip in Amsterdam. Hotel staff greeted us very warm and check in was done in 5 minutes without any hassle. Room was specious and we discovered champagne in our room. So I think it is the hotel that is worth every single penny with its location and service that it offers.

    « Great location »

Great location and very central to several points of interest in Amsterdam. Transit is nearby, making the entire city easily accessible. Staff is very friendly and breakfast is THE BEST! Some of the best coffee I've had at any hotel. The team there did a great job cramming three of us into a small room, but it didn't feel too cramped. I'd definitely stay here again.

« Awful - we will never go back! »

My partner and I arrived and checked in for a 3 night stay however we ended up not staying at this hotel at all as we were so displeased with it. We went up to our room and as soon as we opened the door the smell of damp was overpowering. The curtain rail was hanging off the window frame and the bottom of the curtains was splattered with paint. There was some sort of dirt or black mould all around the bottom of the window and the "canal view" we had requested (in October 2015) was practically non existent - we had a view of several dirty rooftops and a tiny slice of canal in the distance. We continued to look around the room and found that the walls were splattered with something - perhaps tea or coffee?? My partner turned on the TV to find that it was fuzzy and unwatchable. The only decent part of the room was the bathroom which looked nice from a distance but when inspected up close was not as clean as I would expect from what is supposed to be a 3 star hotel. We went down to reception and asked a trainee (the only member of staff available) if she could have someone come up and at least sort out the curtain rail and TV. We waited for 2 hours and nobody appeared. We then went down to reception and asked to speak to someone in authority. We were directed to a supervisor who dealt with our complaint - he was polite and helpful and showed us a further three rooms, however all of these were of a similar unsatisfactory standard. One "Deluxe" room we were shown actually had its smoke detector wrapped in parcel tape! My partner is a fireman and knows how unsafe this is so that was the final straw. We told the supervisor that we would like a full refund, including our deposit. Our deposit was refunded to us straight away and we were told that we would get a full refund for our stay however he would have to do this by contacting the tour operator we booked with. After a very disappointing and stressful start to our holiday, we then had to go and find somewhere else to stay. Luckily, after a lot of walking around with suitcases and being turned away, we managed to find an alternative hotel however this of course meant that we had to fork out more money which left us short for the rest of our trip. The next day I received a call from the manager of the Apollo Museum Hotel who asked me for "my side of the story". I explained everything to him just as I have above and was practically accused of lying as "my story did not match up with the information he had been given from his staff". He then proceeded to tell me that he would not be issuing us with a refund as we had been shown four different rooms and we had not been happy with any of them. He did offer us one night's stay at a later date in "one of their best rooms" however after the experience we had we would not wish to ever go back to this hotel. Overall, we are extremely unhappy and disappointed with the experience we had at this hotel and feel that we are definitely due a refund. The rooms were nothing like the photos shown on the Best Western website - they were dull, damp and nowhere near the standard of cleanliness I would expect from a 3 star hotel, not to mention the facilities which didn't work. While the manager insisted that the photos on the website are not Photoshopped, I can't help but suspect that they are in some way edited to look brighter and better than they really are. This trip to Amsterdam was a Christmas present from me to my partner and it ended up being a very stressful and unhappy time as we had to deal with all of this at the very beginning of our trip, followed by the lack of money for the rest of the trip due to having to look for an alternative hotel. Also, they skin you for a 150 euro deposit on arrival which I think is way above the odds! Avoid this hotel at all costs!

« Couldnt do enough to help us! »

After our booking with a hostel had gone terribly wrong, and my reservation with late rooms didnt fully go through for this hotel, the receptionist calmed me down and let me use their free wifi despite not technically having a booked room. They let us use their computers to sort out our booking and directed us to some free chilled and flavored water in the reception. We finally got our room sorted with much help from them and our room was spotless (a lovely relief after the horrible hostel). The barman knew we had had a hectic afternoon so googled how to make my favourite cocktail so that my "amsterdam experience" was not ruined. I was so grateful for the amazing service and it did 100% save our little trip. They also looked after our bags the next morning for free while we did a little exploring before our bus came. It is around the corner from the Hard Rock Cafe and a canal tour point right outside. fantastic is an understatement

    4
    « Good Location »

nice location, near tram station (rijkmuseum), shops/museums nearby and across there's tourist boat for sightseeing. Museums just few minutes walk, supermarket also nearby (Albert Heijn). If you want to go sightseeing just take tram (3 minutes walk from hotel to station) to Leidseplein, Konigsplein even Amsterdam Centraal which ticket can be bought in hotel

« Worst hotel I have ever stayed at! No exaggeration. »

After reading the reviews about this hotel, I went ahead a made a reservation. The check in process for this hotel was extremely quick and faultless. Now this would be the only positives about this hotel and I mean only. The first problem I encountered here was Wi-Fi, the hotel states that the Wi-Fi works through out the hotel and in the rooms. Well this did not work for me, I could only manage to connect to Wi-Fi in the hotel lobby, I complained to reception they upgraded me for free to Business Wi-Fi and guess what? This did not work either. The lady at reception had a go connecting me to the Wi-fi in which she failed to do so. So I gave up, and just had just keep coming downstairs to use the Wi-fi you can imagine how much of a nuisance this was. Second problem,I went out as you do to explore the city and came back to my room with a fly in it, I didn't take much notice and buckled down to bed, then waking up with a few more flys in my room, I told house keeping she said she will let reception know and see what could be done. She cleaned my room up and I headed out, as I came back into my room, there were dead flies, dying flies and of course alive flies along side ants on my bed, in my bags, on my clothes, literally all over the place. I immediately came down to reception to tell them about this issue, did the cleaner tell reception about this issues of flies ? NO. The lady at reception offered me a upgrade saying ' it's the best room in the hotel ' I went to that room it was tiny and no different to my existing room and actually the bathroom was even smaller, as you sat on the toilet the bathroom door was 30cm in front of you. At this moment in time I checked the room for any insects as I did not want to unpack and have the same issue. So now the little room I was upgraded to had dirty pillows, hair on the bed, just generally wasn't very clean. I tried turning my heating on in the room it was broken it did not come on. Yet again had to let reception know. They come up pressed and prodded the same buttons I did to switch it on and said try again in 50mins meanwhile bought me extra blankets. I tried in 50mins it didn't work, so I rang again to tell them. They bought me a small heater and some new bedding to put on, because I paid to put my own bedding on (sarcasm). This heater I was given was not big enough to warm the room. Can you imagine taking a shower and your room is freezing cold? Is this is what I paid for at this hotel ? Unclean rooms, flies, ants, no heating, dirty bedding, no wifi, spending more time at reception then enjoying my stay at one of my favourite cities. The staff at this hotel did try there hardest by trying to make my stay as pleasant as they could, however the hotel itself is just not up to scratch at all! Very disappointed with my stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, unless you feel you want to keep ringing and coming down to reception with the problems that can't be resolved by staff that work there and have to wait till morning to speak to a manager for problems that require urgent sorting out! They will just make you soldier the cold. Quality does not reflect in this over priced hotel. I did speak to management about all of this, he refunded me a nights stay and allowed me to cancel my other nights for free. Which I still think I was entitled to a full refund!

Great location, excellent service - that's all about them. Best Western Hotels around the world is simply worth my every hard working dollar. Yep, after 10pm, their bar is not the place where you can eat.(( So, a kettle in the room can always fix the problem.

actually the rooms can be comfortable but also very tiny. a room of 3.5x3.5 including bathroom is just too small. beds were not good. they debit yr creditcard even when they say it is only an authorisation, which I think is wrong. my room was not made after my first night and only after my insistence it was cleaned. breakfast is 12.50eur which is decent. I left my jeans in my room when I left and called same day at 14.00 hours if they could take a look. reception refused and asked my to call back next day. next day they told me to send an email. which has been unanswered after 5 days. unpolite and bad service

« Amazing time in Amsterdam »

Great location for a very good hotel. Not cheap but definitely worth the money. Walking distance from museum square and the centre of Amsterdam, 5 minute walk to Leidesplein, served by many night buses.

« Excellent location, friendly staff, clean good rooms, value for money »

The hotel is spacious, has a good restaurant overlooking the canal, very close to the museums in the day and nightlife in the evening, clean good rooms, all you can ask for in Amsterdam for a very reasonable price. Always good to come back.

    « Great location »

This hotel the location is amazing yes the room is a little small but in Europe normally the hotels rooms a super small the room is clean and modern, The breakfast is good . this hotel is located one block from the museum and that IAmsterdam sign, two blocks from Vondelpark across the street from the hard rock, and on the same street from the heineken experience, they also have a hop on hop off canal boat across from the hotel that make so much easier. I do recommend this hotel and if I ever go back to Amsterdam I would definitely stay there because of the location and the clean it's clean I do recommend this hotel and if I ever go back to Amsterdam I would deathly is stay there because of the location and the cleanness.

« nice, clean, cheap hotel in the very center of Amsterdam »

The Apollo Museum Hotel is right next to the Rijksmuseum and on a short (400 m) distance from the Vondelpark and Paradiso. It is has clean, big enough rooms, a comfortable bed, convenient facilities and friendly and accommodating personnel.

« Small room but that's all I was looking for. »

I payed the lowest price I could for the location I wanted. The room would not meet everyone's standards due to its small size but I don't need more than was provided. Clean room and hotel staff helpful

    « Clean, good location »

Nice hotel. The hotel pillows are awful, i upgraded thinking i would get better pillows but the bed and pillows were worse. I have a neck ache. Other than that its very nice, great location and great staff. Would stay again

    « Apollo museum hotel »

Wonderful location for the museums. Easy walking distance to many resturants. The canal boats are right across the street so it made it easy for us to get around. The hotel doesn't have a resturant but the breakfast was nice with eggs and cold cuts young art and breads. The maid service wasn't very good we didn't get clean glasses unless we asked. The rooms are small and it is highly priced. We looked at other hotels that had more ammenities and we very clean and nice which were far cheaper with later check out times.

    4
    « Great Location »

The hotel rooms are average, even a bit cramped, but you won't be going to Amsterdam to stay indoors. This is where the value-for-money of Best Western comes into play: the location is excellent, right next door to the Rijksmuseum and the city center.

    4
« In Amsterdam. Good hotel to rest after long walks. »

A little time away from the business and financial center, facilitating movement and saving time for meetings. A little expensive, but small and comfortable. one good breakfast and great location, close to museums, restaurants like the Hard Rock Cafe for example, boat rides through the canals and the building of the Heineken experience. It is also a little walking time from several attractive points of the city like ice bar, other museums, etc.

    4
« Perfect for a break away clean and friendly »

The rooms are quite small but clean , the bathroom is lovely and the beds are comfy . Would defo recommend for a break away and would stay again . Great price and loving the detox water you get in reception !

« Nice hotel in the city »

Nice hotel, in the city. Many restaurant, cafe ,shopping, park, you can walk to every where. You easy park your car & the station is near by. Good service and nice breakfast. Room also nice and clean. So if you looking for a nice hotel in the city book this hotel.

Was on a business trip in this hotel for 8 nights. Room was big but old. Matras was not very good and heather didnt function well. Overall I would not recommend this hotel. There is better for less in Amsterdam.

Great hotel, great price and great location. Staff was friendly and helpful. Called a taxi to airport for us and it was there within minutes. Would definitely recommend to anybody looking to explore the heart of Amsterdam

    « I Loved this hotel. »

We loved this hotel. Great location, the room was bright & we got the "delux" so it was a wee bit bigger. A little noisy from the road, but other than that it was great. We would certainly recommend it and would stay there again. Thanks so much.

    4
« Very Nice and excellent location »

A very nice hotel with friendly staff on a great location. The rooms are little but they are good. The breakfast was standard but also very good. We also could put our bagage in a safety room during the day, after we already checked out, super!

    3
    « Fair Hotel »

Hotel is fair enough. I think its over priced for the experience you get in that hotel. Rooms are very small but very clean. The shower stream is very very weak. The location was ok, it close to couple of museums but was a bit far from the center it self where you have most of the stuff to do and see.

    3
    « Amesterdam stay »

The hotel is very well located, just next to the Rijksmuseum, but a bit overpriced considering the hotel aminities. The rooms are very small, but clean, and the bathroom is well equiped. We stayed in the first floor and the room had a nice view but it was very noisy. We could hear the streets noise like we had the windows opened. The free wifi sometimes went off.

    3
    « Surprised »

Had stayed here before and was a good experience but this time I felt like I was in a hostile, the room was not comfortable at all, the bed was a joke; with all and all staff was friendly and helpful.

    3
« Very good location, comfortable, rooms are minimal and small »

Apollo is located just a walking distance from several squares and museums, very comfortable if you think of your stay as a partygoer and if you would like to comb the city by foot/tram and then come back to the hotel at night. Rooms are comfortable but small and minimalistic, I had no place for anything but a narrow place near the bed, not to mention a working space - when I needed one I went down to the lobby/pub and worked from there.

    4
    « Road Trip »

European tour with my son, we stayed here and very nice too. Handy for Vondel Park, Canal Tours, and general sightseeing, recommend the trams to get about but walking is a must Hotel is clean, staff helpful, rooms are small but for a two day stay more than adequate. Nice wee bar at the back in garden. Oh and the main haute couture street - well you're on it, ladies turn right, gents left lol

    3
    « Good overnight stay »

I have stayed there a few times for one night each on a trip to amsterdam. The hotel is clean and the rooms are nice, if quite small. The staff is very friendly, although sometimes a little disorganized. On multiple occasions I had asked for late checkout the night before, but so far I was always woken up by the staff asking me to check out anyways (apparently, they typically forget to make a note of this).

    4
« Great Overnight Stay in Amsterdam »

Excellent location, clean large rooms, great check in and check out and fast friendly experience was great all the way around. WiFi works great. Would recommend for anyone that needs a great sold 3-4 star property in Amsterdam that is Centrally located right between the Red-light District and the Museum District. 1 block from The Hard Rock Cafe and next door to the Reich's Museum. walking distance pretty much to everything this wonderful city has to offer.

    4
    « From Rouen »

Excellent location in the museum area , easy to reach from the airport. Nice breakfast and helpful staff. Too small room for the price ! You should improve quality of bed( extremely small for one person ! )

    « Amstersam stay »

Great location and very friendly and helpful staff, I didn't like the room location in the basement but the rest of the hotel was great. The breakfast was tasty and you had plenty to eat. The free wifi was really handy.

« Good location but dissapointing customer orientation »

Nice location for this hotel. The customer service orientation of their employees has been dessapointing during our stay. They forgot asking us to pay the deposit during the check in and we have been asked to do so at 4am in the night. We have been threatened to block our rooms... No complain sheets were given after asking for them, incredible!

    1
    « Awful experience »

Poor quality mattress, tiny room. Tiny bathroom with low pressure water that temperature changes every second from cold to very hot! No space in the room for two people and no mini bar. Staff weren't friendly or helpful at all. The only good thing about this hotel was the reservation process as it was trough another booking company. Cancelation was allowed before the check in and I wish we've canceled this booking before we go there for check in. Awful experience overall

    4
    « Good value hotel »

Good location close to cafes bars restaurant view of canal . nice clean hotel staff helpful very polite professional and friendly room was small but clean and modern. Good for a city break easy access museums. would stay again.

    4
« Leisure staying at Best Western »

very good location, close to the city center, quiet enough to sleep. Bed a bit narrow (140 cm) and not restful. Very good breakfeast food quality. Overall very good value for money spent. Waiters friendly and eager to help you. Reception always crowdy and you have to wait 5 to 10 minutes on average to be served.

    4
« Small room, good location and price »

I was just staying for one night, so the small room didn't bother me much. For an extended stay or with two people staying, it would get crowded real quick real soon. Some scratches on the wall, but clean. Location and price are very good. The Leidseplein is close, so nightlife would have been close at hand, too

    3
« My review went down at night. »

I would totally have given this hotel 4 possibly even 5 stars until my evening experience. The breakfast was typical continental and just fine. The room was tiny but has everything I needed. It was clean and the bed, while small, was cosy as well. The price was fantastic and I booked it on hotels.com. 56 euros per night. All in all a great value justifying a solid 4 rating. Then they have a bar at night... we are so close to getting a 5 because of the convenience... if only there was better service. There were 5-6 people sitting at the bar with no one tending bar. At one point I went behind the counter and pulled a draft for myself and two other strangers. When the attendant returned we promptly told him advised him to put it on our tab. He obliged and left. He was gone for another 45 minutes so we helped ourselves again. Upon his return we told him to add one more to our tab. The dude got insolent and started talking to us like we were children. I told him if it wasn't okay he could have just said so nicely the first time. We paid for our drinks and went to bed. His treatment and attitude really put a wet blanket on the evening. Other than that... I would still recommend staying here. It is right next to the Rijksmuseum and close to the Heineken Experience.

    4
    « Great location! »

The room was close to an elevator and was not soundproofed so it was a little noisy. But other than that, it was clean, the staff were friendly and the location was great! I would recommend this hotel to others!

    3
« Great Location but rooms need updating »

Check in was very good. Front desk was good. The locaton is great. Close to many things. Rooms are old and need to be updated. Walls were dirty room not appealing, internet a bit slow, bathroom small. Bed was great

    2
    « Small, over expensive & loud »

Room very small. Very expensive for a 3 night stay. Not much sound proofing. Could hear people in hall way each night, all night. Doors slamming and staff were friendly... but then charged us when left not explaining why, just stating taxes. Both my partner and I have been to Amsterdam before just never charged taxes on our exit. Bed was very uncomfortable too.

  • 2
    « Not good »

Bed was really uncomfortable. Mattress only 3 inches thick. No food in mini bar and no room service. But great location and very helpful staff. Very good central location. Slight road noise but not too bad

    4
    « Great Location »

The hotel has a fantastic location, near the center of Amsterdam and close enough to several bus or tram stops. There is also a lot of restaurants in the area, so that is a big plus both for food and night life. The hotel itself is ok, not extremely expensive but not cheap either. The facilities are in good condition and the rooms are nice. The bed is a tad uncomfartable with low quality pillows. Apart from that it is fine.

    1
« Very unfriendly last minute cancellation. »

Got message 15.30 h that something was wrong with credit card. Room was cancelled at 18.00 h.... no support by sta ff to find alternative lodging by unfriendly desk employee. Got later mail message that I did not show up referring to a full cancellation fee. If you do check your email hourly, do NOT book Apollo Museum Hotel!

    « Essence of Amsterdam »

Our travel home to the U.S. was delayed resulting in an overnight at this property. It was booked through the helpful staff at the Amsterdam airport and, though tired and would have slept anywhere, we found this bright light in an otherwise dismal trip. While "Best Western" brings many connotations to American travelers, the Apollo Museumhotel Amsterdam City Centre was clean and inviting with a most helpful staff and service. I'm sure that our last minute reservation resulted in our staying in the smallest available room so I can't attest to the rest of the accommodations. However, we found our last minute, unexpected stay worth our consideration to stay here again when we plan a longer visit to Amsterdam.

    3
« Great location for trams and museums; large room, but tiny tiny bathroom; not accessible »

The wee size of the bathroom was a joke and a major annoyance (upon seeing it, I almost suggested that we find another place), but the bed was excellent; the room was large (perhaps more so than some others in the hotel); the storage space was minimal; the elevator was speedy; breakfast was good and efficient; housekeeping did a good job. There seemed to be mostly European guests for the almost-week we stayed there. We chose it because of its very close proximity to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. WiFi was fine. Nine steps up to the entrance makes it not accessible. Next time we'll stay closer to the center of downtown and the Central Station.

    2
« In terms oif value for money »

Expensive. Poor storage and desk space. Wasted space in a decent-sized room. Bathroom tiny. Steep staircase at entrance, nearly inaccessible for anyone with any disability or frailty. Mediocre breakfast for the money, no bacon or sausage with the scrambled eggs, and omelets are extra (as is almost everything else).

    5
    « great stay »

Recommended by friends; excellent experience from beginning to end. thanks you. Good location, quiet, breakfast was good, coffee ok; you should please note force the reviewer to fill this box as it takes too much time. I was tempted to delete the form except I had a good stay. Please redo this form to be user-friendly.

« Nice area but without an wow effect. »

Thinking of the general situation in Amsterdam (not easy finding a "value for money" room) it was ok. Maybe the room was a little bit smaller as it appears on the internet (even if they are example pictures). We found ants in the window. The sink in bath looks very elegant but doesn't help washing your face All in all it was ok for one night stay but for this room 240€ was too much. At the reception desk were only two persons sometimes three but not enough helping guests check in and out quickly.

    5
    « happy with service. »

« Worst hotel I ever stayed in.... »

Ok, this place got it ALL wrong. Totally.... Im not really this negative, but this time all the small things just added togheter. - Got a room on the Ground floor (one floor down from the entrace floor...). I would rather call it the cellar, as it was more or less under ground and felt like a cell. But someone has to get these rooms as well, so I was ok. But not a good start.... - The full ground floor smelled of sewer. It was not that strong to start with, but during the night I had to close the door to the toilet as a lot of smell came from there, and put a towel under the main door, as a lot of the smell came from the corridor... - People were running around in the hotel ALL night. For three nights in a row. There was no sound insulation at all, so you could hear steps form the room above, knocking on doors, people talking all night. Not all the time, so I probably fell alseep for 20 minutes, until someone slammed a door again.... Bad.... - I was asked to book breakfast in advance for the days I would need it, as I would have it 2 Euros cheeper if I did that. I did that. But was the 2 euros deducted once I paid. Of course not. Paid the 12.5 instead of the 10 I was promised.... Ok, I did not complain. I was just to tired to start a discussion... - Last day I got a note under the door that there would be a queue for the checkout the next day, so they asked me to check out the night before. I did that, and they asked me to just drop the key in the next day. Next morning, paid and ready just in time to get to the airport there was a long queue and I happily dropped the key of on the front desk, thankful I did not have to stand in the line. However... The front desk girl asked me if I was leaving when I left the key and I said yes. She then said, "you have to stand in the line!". I said "I checked out last night already", but she said in a much louder voice "you HAVE to stand in the line". At this point i was just so tired at the hotel so I just left, but I heard the front desk lady SCREAM at me "SIR, SIR!!! COME BACK HERE!!!". At this point in time I did not care if there was anything important she wanted. I had checked out and I was so tired about this place.... This was like Faulty Towers in real life....

« Clean, comfortable and stylish »

We stayed here for two nights in October. I think this hotel is ideal for couples and is very well located. The hotel is located in the Museum quarter in a nice area. Some people may prefer a hotel more centrally located however I think that this hotel gives you easy access to all areas of Amsterdam and is away from the seedier red light district, although it is close enough for those who wish to access this area of the city. Take tram number 2 or 5 from Central station and you are there in about 10 minutes. The walk into the centre of Amsterdam is very pleasant from this hotel. I would not hesitate in booking this hotel again. I can't comment upon breakfast as we chose to walk into the Gretchegordal for breakfast each day which was a wonderful pleasant walk. We got an excellent deal through Easyjet.

    2
« good place, terrible staff »

The hotel is in a good place but the hotel staff (especially the check-in/out people) were terrible. Really unhelpful and not kind at all. Really nice room with a ridicolous small bathroom without windows or ventilation.

« small room in basement »

room was on the zero floor which means we were in rooms in the basement . So, our view was watching peoples feet as they walked by. I found it very claustrophobic. I didn't like that there was no separation in the bathroom between the toilet and the shower and no shower door. So, when you took a shower the whole bathroom was wet. I slipped a few times. The breakfast was good but not included .

    4
« Decent place to stay »

The room was decent but very small. Breakfast was good and the location was a walking distance away from restaurants and shopping areas. The hotel staff speaked very good english and were very friendly.

    « good »

Rooms are on the smallish side....but very comfortable bedding .Nice efficient staff. Good breakfast ( 11?).free wifi in the room. Above all : great great location ! 2 mns from Rijks Museum and Van Gogh museum, tram stop, airport bus stop. 5 mns from busy pedestrian area of Leidse, with many restaurants and cafes. All good!

« Nice enough for a one night stay »

Me and my partner stayed here for 1 night in room 112 and wouldn't have really wanted to stay more! The rooms were quite small but just about big enough to manouvere around each other. The bathroom was lovely with a big shower however the toilet was positioned in a really funny place...in front of the sink! This made it very difficult to sit straight on the toilet and you found yourself having to sit to the side. The pillows on the bed were more like a small square decorative pillow than one to sleep on but the bed was comfortable enough. I wouldn't have wanted to stay here any more than one night without paying extra to upgrade to a deluxe room!

    3
    « It was good »

We booked the day before (2Interrail travellers, aged 16). It was pretty cheap and the location was very good. We had some problems to check in but this got sorted out by the very friendly, and as far as i experienced it, competent staff. The room wasn't the best (no view and and bath door couldn't be closed propperly) but I only stayed for one day and it's nothing to really complain about.

« Good location, appalling value for money »

This was our 51st wedding anniversary. The staff was nice and breakfast good, but: 1. The air conditioner was very noisy and never got to the set temperature during the night. 2. The room was cramped and the shower had a miserable flow of water. 3. The remote control for the TV had flat batteries and the replacement malfunctioned. 4.The reading lights by the bedside could not be switched individually. I would rate this hotel with 2 stars. Only the location does not justify the appalling value for money at ?400 per night.

    1
    « Best western apollo »

Terrible hotel, members of staff are rude and useless. Have not recieved my deposit back. Cleaners were always intruding and didnt take no notice of do not disturb signs and resolved in them walking in on my girlfriend nude.

    2
    « Poor »

Peeling paint in bathroom, dirty chipped bath. Window in room faced inside the building, directly at a glass lift, right next to the bed, so curtains have to say shut just to stop people seeing directly into room.

« Last minute, best choice »

Very polite staff and a excellent hotel for a 1 night stay. We went to the Amsterdam Dance Event, and this was a great location for that. We slept not that well because it was really noisey outside, but that is what you can expect in Amsterdam City. Big plus is the view on the Rijksmuseum.

« My stay at the Apollo »

The hotel is ideally placed for the rijksmuseum and sights at the west side/ centre. Right opposite a hop on, hop off boat tour. It is a good hotel but the room was tight, I could only just open the toilet door and the shower had a mind of its own on the temperature. other than those minor points, stay there

    4
« Hotel nicely located, friendly people »

Nice hotel to stay, near the museums, quiet area, nice park nearby. Small rooms, no elevators in the larger rooms in an area adjacent to the hotel. No restaurant at the hotel, but plenty of restaurants in the Leideseplein, very close to the hotel.

    3
    « Very good location »

Hotel has an excellent location, near the most important museums of the city and has excellent served by trasport. Rooms are slightly small but very very clean and equipped, and the bed is also very comfortable!!

« Great location, friendly staff and very adequate for a short stay »

Perfect location for exploring Amsterdam. Good breakfast and a good choice for a weekend break. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is not the most modern hotel but the facilities are perfectly adequate. Clean room and comfortable beds.

    « Excellent »

After the bad experience I had at the Hotel Espresso, I can only say good things about this hotel. Excellent service, excellent cleaning and a good breakfast. Good location, near the museums and the bus stop to/from the airport. Great bed!!! I recommend.

« worst hotel in years »

a rip off, I was quoted a price on the phone that was unexplainably increased on payment, as you do not confirm by email I had no proof. Nice cleaning staff, thin mattresses, sheets do not cover bed, duvets tucked in? and cushions instead of pillows

    4
« Good location and nice atmosphere »

Hotel is very well located, near park with easy access to tram. Famous city museums are within walking distance. Room was rather small, but very clean and well equipped. Hotel staff was very helpful. Area is quiet, excellent for business trips and private stays as well.

« Good location and Ok for one night »

We stayed for several days and had very mixed opinions. Positives first: excellent location for museums and easy to walk into the city. Bus 197 from airport stops round the corner, where the trams also stop. Book breakfast in advance for a discount. We really enjoyed the breakfast. Staff were helpful and did their best to fix things. Good wifi. Now the negatives: rooms are generally very small and the bathrooms even smaller. Bathrooms have frosted glass doors - bad! Some rooms are in a dingy basement. Housekeeping is terrible. Beds not made, plastic glasses from bathroom not replaced, things not cleaned. Worst hospitality tray ever - have never been offered paper cups to make hot drinks before. Asked for china ones and got them but had to hide them in the wardrobe! Awful powdered milk. No dining room for evening meal and the breakfast room is also the bar with all the ambiance you might expect. Bar is staffed by reception staff and this does not make for good service. Some guests do not behave well - had bad experience with drunken neighbours. Finally they got the bill wrong and we had to go back and challenge it. It was put right but this does not inspire confidence. 'Best' Western this is absolutely not.

    4
« No way as bad as other reviews! »

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights this week for a weekend get away. Reading the reviews on Trip Advisor before hand did make me a bit worried but I was pleasantly surprised once we arrived. The room was very small, however it was very clean, and had a nice bathroom! Breakfast was included in our rate and it was really nice. it is in the perfect location for all sight seeing with everything g within walking distance and there are canal tours right on your door step! for anyone going to Masterdam for a short trip it is a great hotel.-'and I am extremely fussy when it comes to hotels! nice!

    3
« Ok but need some improvements for business trips »

I was surprised that there was no in room dining at all, not even a small one with sandwiches. I tend to use it when I have some work to do and save some time by eating in my room. The TV reception was bad. It's the first time I prefer to switch it off instead of trying to find a news channel. The breakfast was good, plenty of choice and good quality.

« Close to Rijksmuseum, trams to centre »

Convenient, easy to access from central station - tram no.5 or 2 - typical best western; professional, clean, welcoming, comfortable. Quiet area at night, no restaurant at this hotel, but plenty nearby. Upgraded to twin on check-in, most welcome. Decent sized room, good bathroom, sleep quality excellent.

    2
« Rooms are very small and cramped »

I stayed here for 3 nights and was horrified how small the rooms were, to get 2 adults and 2 suitcases in meant you could not open the door to get out properly. The two single beds both had toppers on so that every time you moved they moved with you, it was most uncomfortable. The bathroom smelt stale as there was no ventilation in there at all. Plastic and cardboard cups were also awful to drink from. There are not enough people on reception as checking in and out can take up a lot of time. The staff were very polite and lovely. The hotel is centrally located but for the amount of money it is not worth it, having just come from a hotel where my bathroom was bigger than this bedroom I would not stay here again.

Good location in a very beautiful city with a very nice atmosphere. Room is not very big but eveything you needed was there. Good breakfast was okay and the staff very helpful and kind. Super location for Rijksmuseum or Paradiso.

« Good location teeny rooms »

We couldn't believe how small the rooms were in this hotel. Once our two suitcases were in the room, we couldn't move. The twin beds were ultra narrow and had a mattress topper that kept sliding from one side to the other. To get to the lobby there is a flight of steep stairs which were difficult when carrying luggage. The one good point is the location, right next to the Rujksmuseum and close to the canals. Also close to many good eateries.

We loved the location! Very polite staff!! We were dissappointed that this hotel displayed as having airport shuttle. When the shuttle was public transportation by bus. Not so convenient with luggage!!

I have stayed in many hotels in Amsterdam; "upscale"; "boutique" etc. During my first stay at the Best Western Apollo Museum Hotel, in 2014, it became clear that this was a well-managed Hotel. The can-do attitude and genuine care keeps bringing me back. Also location is unbeatable.

Excellent location near museums and canal boat stop. Attractive hotel with clean and tidy room. Pleasant breakfast in a nice setting. Reception staff were generally friendly and helpful but additional payments was a little confusing.

The room was far too small for the amount of money they charged, once in the room of two single beds it was impossible to walk round the room, the mattress had toppers that kept sliding off the bed in the night and the bathroom smelt very stale as there is no ventilation in it, it was cardboard cups for coffee and plastic cup in the bathroom for water. The only good point was where it was located in the centre of Amsterdam next to the museum and canal boats. Never enough staff on reception as there is always a queue

Good location for museums and short walking distances to city centre, also bus 197 just around corner takes you to shiphol for 5 euro what more do you want, rooms are a bit small but you only spent time there to sleep, only negative comment I would have is that breakfast is not included in the price.
