« Very central location, needs a bit of TLC »

We had three good nights in Amiens. The location of this hotel is great, although parking is a little awkward if you're not a confident driver as an ample underground car-park is a short walk away. The hotel is old and creaky but we liked it. The bathroom could do with a renovation but it was OK. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. We didn't eat in the hotel but found it difficult to get even a coffee and pastry before 10am.

« Great city centre hotel »

Charming city centre hotel. We got a good deal for one night. There is potentially free overnight parking if you can find an on street space, we were lucky! Otherwise there is a public underground car park near by Euro 7 per night. This is an old hotel (rare for this city). We enjoyed the quirky nature of the hotel and slightly sloping floor in the bedroom. Friendly welcome and a rare find for a chain

« Poor service and rooms »

We were there in mid July. Not hot outside but the room was roasting. No air conditioning or fans. When we mentioned it to the staff they were rather disinterested . The hear was so bad we cut our stay short ad to move to another hotel

    3
« To hot in summer. »

The hotel is very old and is the quintessential French hotel, but beware the rooms are not air conditioned and no fans are supplied in summer so you will be hot. The two windows we had in our room overlooked the nearby park and at night if you opened them all you could hear ALL night long is the drunk Africans arguing and talking. The rooms are small with basic facilities but it is a budget hotel, we almost expected Basil Fawlty to show up which was the running joke in our tour group. The hotel is centrally located in town which is great when you get about and if your staying only a short time and are on a budget i.e. Overnight then this place might be for you, if not then find somewhere with a more modern layout.

« Great position 5 minutes from Cathedral »

Parking - aim for the underground car park at the multiplex cinema, surface and head across the main road 5 minutes walk to the hotel - easy. The hotel is is perfectly situated for sightseeing and shopping . Great room on 3rd floor ( #36 ) corner room which in 35 degree heat is necessary to gain what little breeze you can through the open windows - NO air conditioning !!!!!! so swelteringly hot night ! Comfortable bed however as windows open , local revellers in adjacent park were annoying past midnight. Great room, bed and views but HOT.

« It is a small hotel, old but well appointed. »

The rooms are quite good, old but functioning. The location is the plus for the hotel. It is near malls, the train station and the cathedral. There are numerous restaurants. Amiens is a casual family orientated city. The staff are excellent very helpful. Breakfast is adequate. It is a small intimate hotel well worth staying in. Great value

« Way too hot in summer »

Hotel is in a great location, 100 metres from the train station and close to everything, but it is stinking hot in the rooms in summer. No air con, no fan, just an open window. On the brighter side the mini fridge is a great addition and there's a clothes line in the bathroom. Nice sized rooms but would pick elsewhere if I came back. It is near on impossible to get the tv working and when you finally get it going, it takes a genius to change the language from French to English. We finally gave up.

« Do NOT come in the Summer »

NOT a Happy Guest. Excellent location and a lovely building. Rooms are okay and the bathroom is better. BUT......not to have AC in the summer is deadly. It is so HOT day and night, sleep is nye on impossible. Not even a fan available to circulate the hot air or suck in cooler air at night. Sleep with the windows open and get eaten.........by the mozzies. Nice to have a fridge in the room....IF it worked. Not even a kettle for a cuppa tea or coffee. High price for below standard hotel. Go 100m towards the station and stay at the Holiday Inn Express as that is much better and we'll worth the money.

    « Perfect »

location was ideal near the shops and restaurants. Also near to the Cathedral. Almost of the staff friendly and helpful. Parking was a fair distance near to the train station. The room had a balcony and was very spacious. As in most French hotels no tea/coffee facilities in room but plenty of cafe, bars in near location. We didn't have breakfast as we had early departure 4.30 am (Thiepval memorial) so can't comment but the reception staff still tried to charge us for breakfast!

« Very Rude Staff & Attempted Overcharge (By 25%) »

Contacted the hotel twice to advise of late arrival. No reply being given told something. Arrived 11p.m., receptionist did not want to check-in, as he slammed down his phone in frustration and did not even bother to remove his earphones. Any response was by pointing and the fait accomplait was being shouted 'Ah!', when attempting to take the stairs to the room. Not told of room, given a key. (I guess the film was important on the phone.) Check out. Received a bill with 2 breakfasts on. Interesting that it was a single reservation. No breakfast was taken. On complaining the receptionist said, 'I will just make it one breakfast then?'. I said 'No breakfast'. It appeared that all guests are charged for breakfast regardless so keep a very close eye on the bill! The attitude is, 'Here today, gone tomorrow, we have got your money and get lost'. If you are on Battlefield tour, find alternative accommodation.

    « Wales on Tour »

I stayed here for a couple of nights as a base for the England v Wales football match in Lens in June. The Hotel's location is superb, right in the center of Ameins The rooms satisfactory and comfortable. We did not have breakfast so I cannot comment on food The staff were very helpful and always had a smile for us I would return with my wife to explore the area a little more than I did when I stayed this time

« GRAND HOTEL DE UNIVERSE, AMIENS »

A nice sized, nicely furnished, comfortable room with a view over the park. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The hotel is close to the rail station and a reasonable walk to the cathedral and restaurant area.

« Ok hotel in center of amiens »

Stayed 2 nights for business trip. The hotel is OK but I will probably not come back. Pluses -super close to train station - walking distance max 5 min -on the main street but still no noise from the outside -comfy bed Could be better... - no kettle in the room - the room 32 is very small. Good for one person not enough space for 2 - little bit dated indoor - breakfast is 12€ which is ridiculous - no restaurant - if you arrive late there is no option to eat - bottle of plastic water 3€ I paid almost 200€ for 2 nights - you can get better in Amiens

    « Not good!!! »

This was the first time we had stayed in Amiens and chose to stay at this hotel for an overnight stop on our way to the Black Forest. The location is excellent - hotel is based in the town centre and only a short walk from the fabulous cathedral and vibrant area on the quayside where the restaurants and bars are situated. We booked a superior double room located on the third floor and were surprised to find that the overall size and more importantly the quality of the room was sadly lacking. The decoration and furnishings were extremely dated and the bathroom /toilet had clearly had its day. In fact it looked as though the bath had actually been given a coat of paint to cover the worn enamel. We only had half a toilet roll in the loo! The room also smelt of cigarette smoke despite being a non-smoking establishment. I was also woken during the night by my wife complaining about a strange smell in the bed and this time I wasn't to blame!! A safe was present for our valuables but there were no other extras such as tea/coffee making facilities. Needless to say we did not stop to take breakfast in the morning and checked out as soon as possible. Overall the room was very grubby and certainly not worth the 110 euros we paid for it. We definitely will not be returning.

« Comfortable hotel in a great location »

We had a standard room which was a little small but adequate for our short stay. It had a nice shower room. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was adequate. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of the Cathedral, station and shops. Amiens is quite small so it's not far to walk to whatever you want to see. The tea/coffee kettle tray was not in the room, you have to ask for it at reception.

    « Anzac Day accommodation »

Another surprise. Truly decent hotel, recently renovated, clean, quiet, terrific staff in fact wonderful staff. Well located. Our only slight downside was that our room had previously had a smoker and that was grubby. Cleaners had left the window open to hopefully drive the stink away. New bathroom, safe for valuables. Petit dejeuner was ample or excessive. Parking 5 minutes walk. Good fun parking illegally in the square while we struggled with our baggage. Great empathy for Aussies given we arrived on 25th April.

« Do not stay here. »

We arrived and was greatd by a lovely girl who advised that breakfast was included. She advised us that breakfast was included. The room was adequate breakfast was stale and poor. When checking out we were advised that we needed to pay 25 euro each for breakfast. What a joke there was nothing there. We refused to pay and she reduced it to 6 euro. Totally ripped off.

    « Cheap and Cheerful »

Hotel location is second to none, literally 5 minutes walk from Amiens Station and located in nice area with a fantastic garden at its doorstep and a number of shops in the vicinity, Room was a little small and could do with a bit of modernisation, but other than that was very clean, had a comfortable bed and clean bathroom. No minibar / tea or coffee facilities in room. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, assisted in all requests and had a smile. Hotel does not offer dinner service but there are a number of restaurants nearby as well as a supermarket less than a minute away. Internet, although offered free in rooms, requires a code for each device and connection was intermittent - was quite frustrating waiting for a webpage to load. Overall was a very nice stay for 1 night with good value for money.

    « Location, location, location »

We had organised our accommodation before we left Australia as we were booked to do a battlefields tour, and this hotel did not disappoint. We had caught the train from Paris to Amiens and it was an easy 5 minute walk to the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. This is a vibrant university town and there were many students around with much chatter and laughter. There is a little supermarket just down the street which sells all the basics and provided dinner for us one night in the form of olives, sushi and cheese. I hope to return to Amiens and would definitely stay at this hotel. The Notre Dame Cathedral is a short walk away, this is a 'must see'. It is spectacular. There is a Jules Verne museum, which I did not have the chance to see, perhaps when I return to Amiens.

« A wonderful base to explore the Somme »

Conveniently located to the Gare d'Amies, the Hotel provides a wonderful base from which to explore Amies, the Somme including the World War 1 Battlefields. While the rooms are small, facilities including Breakfast were very good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Recommended.

« Don't stay here, you will regret it. »

The pictures do not represent the actuality of the rooms. The rooms are very small, no coffee, tea or refrigerator in the room. Customer service is horrific. I was one cent short for paying the 2.50 euros for an AM cup of coffee. They acutally insisted I pay the one penny, even after I had spent over 100 euros at their hotel. Overall the worst hotel and cusomter suervice that I spent in my travels in Europe.

« In the heart of beautiful Amiens »

This hotel was easy to find and though I had thought it would be difficult to find a parking space it was very easy. The staff was friendly and the rooms had everything we needed. The breakfast was a bit oversold but ok. The best part was that we could actually glimpse the cathedral from our room :-)

    2
    « Not great »

Nothing really wrong with this hotel but rather old and tired. Breakfast is not great and this is the first French hotel I have stayed in which served small pre packed cheese which was mainly Dutch or Swiss. Not a place I would stay at again.

    3
    « Adequate »

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights as part of a western front tour. My room was small but had a separate (tiny) shower and toilet (not for tall or overweight people as it was a tiny space). The staff were very pleasant and helpful and spoke good English and the breakfasts were excellent. My main problem was that the floors were wooden and squeaked terribly and as I was on the second floor and aware of people below me, I was leaping from spot to spot to avoid the creaks and squeaks. Must have looked a sight. Oh, and no tea or coffee facilities.

« Great service let down by poor facilities and basics »

We stayed here for two nights in September as we visited the area. First thing to say is that the service from the staff is absolutely fantastic they couldn't of been nicer and more helpful however what lets this hotel down is the lack of facilities especially in the rooms.. No tea and coffee machine towels not changed no soaps and shampoos all the basics you expect from a 3* hotel.. I cannot fault the staff or the service they gave just a shame it was let down by the standards of the rooms.

    « Avoid this dump! »

I wouldn't stay here again in a million years; the weather in the Somme has been cold and exceedingly wet today, yet the staff of this establishment refused to put the heating on, the receptionist informed us that there was another quilt for the bed in the wardrobe. Quite how that would dry your soaking wet clothes is beyond me. If I could have given this place minus stars, I would have done so. Avoid.

Another excellent Best Western French hotel. My partner, her parents and myself went to visit the Somme battlefields during Easter this year and Amiens is a perfect base for such a tour. The hotel, in common with every Best Western that we have stayed in in France was first class with informative multi-lingual helpful staff. If you plan a trip to the charming city of Amiens you could do a lot worse and spend much money that you would at the Best Western. Highly recommended !

« Small rooms, Good value, great location »

We stayed at the hotel for two nights whilst visiting the WWI battlefields on the Somme. The first positive was how close it is to the train station - about 300 metres, so an easy walk. The second floor room we had was very small but clean and well presented, and had a balcony overlooking the mall. Some sound filtered through through from other rooms and the outside, but it was not too intrusive. The shower and toilet were fine and storage space was limited but adequate. WIFI connection was good. Staff were very friendly and we didn't encounter any problems. The hotel is fantastically located for strolling around central Amiens - and what a delightful place to stroll around.

    « Central »

I hadn't stayed at a Best Western for a while.... The hotel was fine but no frills. Breakfast was only continental and small tables / space. Rooms a little dated but clean. The location is great if you're exploring Amiens and despite being in the centre it was very quiet.

« Nice hotel in center of Amiens. »

beautiful, comfy and friendly staff. booked two rooms for the family. We had balconies overlooking the adjencent streets and really enjoyed the views... The night manager was really friendly, I enjoyed chatting to him.

« Great hotel in perfect location »

An attractive hotel with character. The reception area is beautiful and a seating area on the first floor landing is lovely with a glass roof lighting it. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a a great location, easy walking distance to all city centre attractions and restaurants, but on a pedestrianised road so nice and quiet at night.

    « A faded hotel needing modernisation »

We were touring France using BW hotels as our base for each stop. This was the worst hotel (with the exception of the B/W PLUS Le Canard Sur le Toit near Toulouse) and whilst there was nothing serious enough to complain about it is not a hotel we would ever want to revisit. The décor was old and tired, there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room. There was no air conditioning and although a fan was provided this hardly compensates. The lighting was awkwardly positioned so that the bed side light was insufficient to read by. The breakfast room was very small, consisting of 6 tables and there were instances of people waiting for a table to become vacant. The choice of food was very limited with no cooked options. For a country which prides itself on its cheese, the cheese items were all sealed small pre-packed items and were mainly Swiss or Dutch, The coffee came in an open jug which meant it got cold very quickly. There was nothing serious enough to complain about but this is not hotel I would use again or recommend to anyone.

« A Nice Down to Earth Hotel »

We stayed at this hotel as a part of a WWI battleground tour through Cobbers Australian Battlefield Tours (out guide was Colin Gillard and is highly recommended), so we did not choose the hotel. The hotel is a very pleasant and old French hotel that has been recently refurbished. However we did have some issues with our room on the first night. Although it was very clean and quiet it was rather small and the floor had a marked slope so consequently the bed had a similar sideways slope which was not conducive to a good nights sleep. We mentioned this in the morning to Lauren at reception who was very sympathetic and immediately arranged a larger (and level) room for us. It was a lovely room overlooking the park next door. The reception staff were always polite, very helpful and spoke excellent English as Lauren should as she is a Brit. :-) Breakfast was fairly basic but certainly adequate. The hotel is very central and is a few minutes walk down the mall from the Amiens railway station and very close to shops, restaurants and the Amiens Notre Dame cathedral.

« Great hotel, great location. »

I really liked this hotel. Staff were very friendly and spoke good English. I booked a standard double bedroom and it was neat and tidy. The bed was so so comfortable but the only downside was the shower. The shower head kept over balancing and falling over and had very little pressure. The wifi worked well and had good range - you could connect from the street outside.

    « 2 cramped nights in October »

If you're offered room 22 refuse it - tiny, hot and tired - dark corridors, generally the hotel needs an update. Breakfast was good though and staff were fine - just a shame about the room. Great position which just about made up for it on a short stay.
