Best Western Plus Tin Wis Resort

This hotel is in a lovely setting, close to the beach, with friendly staff, well looked after grounds and plenty of parking. We had a ground floor room with a small patio with table and chairs and a view of the beach. The beds were very comfortable, everything was very clean. The bathroom was on the small side, but functional, with shower over the bath which had a non-slip surface and a grab rail. There was a small drinks making area with coffee maker, microwave oven and fridge. Free tea, coffee and cookies were also available in the lobby. Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice from the a la carte menu. We also had two evening meals in the hotel and the food was excellent. The hotel also has a laundry room,a hot tub and a vending machine for drinks and snacks.

Our room, although a ground floor, had an excellent view of the ocean. The sound of the surf was soothing and the scenes amazing. This property is beautifully situated beach front and the grounds are very well maintained to provide a visual experience that rivals high-end resorts we've enjoyed in the past. We tried the restaurant for dinner - the service and the quality of the food were excellent and the decor was very nice west coast contemporary style. The room itself was comfortable but could use a refresh. It was very clean, however, which is more important from our point of view, The coffee pods for the keurig were very good and real cream for the coffee was provided in the mini fridge. This was a nice touch as hubby and I enjoyed good quality coffee while taking in the view. We'll endeavour for an upper floor room on our next visit so that I'm more at ease - the property was at capacity due to a wedding when we asked so we weren't able to move. It happens. This was our first time out so we'll do better on a return visit. Overall, the experience was fantastic.

Overall impression is good. The day we came at 1pm, they didn't have rooms ready yet, no restaurants were open, to we drove 7min to Tofino city and had lunch. Then we came back at 4pm and the room was not still ready. Check in was at 4pm. We waited half and hour - the room was not still ready, so as an excuse we got upgraded suit on the third floor. I have to say that the best views you got on the higher levels (3-4floor). You cannot see the sunrise, but it's a nice place to see the sunset. The restaurant must be booked in advance, the alcoholic beverages must be specified a few times: otherwise you'll get 1leter if wine instead of a glass.(probably the bartender misheard). We didn't book the table in advance, so we sat in the bar and the food came after an hour after the order (miscommunication probably too), the dinner with wine was about 115$. The balcony view was amazing. The cleanness of room, bathroom-100%. Shampoos are very small though, but refill every day. Free tasty drip Coffee in a room and lobby. Hairdryer, iron is in the room. King bad and mattress very comfy. Working table is comfortable too. Fridge, oven, glasses. Liquor store in a town has verity of international wines. The CoOP store has all food and pharmacy needed. Great place to rest.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The room was quite spacious, and the ocean view was awesome. The only two things that would make it better, would be if the gas fireplace worked (it was a grey and soggy day in Tofino!!), and if there was a complimentary breakfast. Otherwise, it was great!

Destiny and her partner at reception were friendly and helpful! Our room #204 was clean, quiet and nicely appointed. Klee-koo !! Restaurant looked nice, next time we'll attend. View was nice. Coffee in the lobby. Definitely a YES!!!!

We stayed as a family with our dog and had access right out of our patio to the ocean. The staff was fantastic, rooms clean and comfortable and they also supplied treats, food and water dish and blanket for our lab. The beach is literally out your window, and falling asleep to the amazing sounds of the ocean is incredible! Great rates!

What a location!! With its own beach area and plenty of open spaces. Very welcoming reception team - topped off by Rachel and her over and above service to assist confirm my local tour the following day. Rooms are a little dated but sufficient with comfortable bed. Bit isolated in terms of options for eating, but restaurant was fantastic on first evening but let down on the second when both options selected either run out or unable to be cooked(?)

This location is absolutely spectacular. It's located right on the beach and all room have an ocean view here which is a plus. The rooms were clean but dark and frankly a bit tired but they were comfortable at least. It was disappointing that the fire places had been decommissioned. Although I love dogs and am a full supporter of allowing animals to stay in hotels there were a lot of dogs in the hotel when we stayed and unfortunately the walls are thin. The guest next door to us clearly left their dog alone and the dog was barking incessantly after 10pm to the point where we had to call the front desk. When the people returned to their room the barking stopped but they were playing music and talking/ laughing loudly enough that it kept us awake. Overall we still very much enjoyed our stay and the Surf shop on site was a great addition that allowed us to rent a kayak without even leaving the hotel. Despite the hotel being pricier for what you get the beach location was certainly worth it.

We arrived after a 6 hour drive to find that booking.com had accidentally cancelled our booking along with others the previous day. The manager Maria was superb and on it straight away sorting it out and finding a room. This was all done with calm and ease making us feel less stressed out. A huge thank you for that. Our room was good, on the beach and clean. Tea and coffee facilities in room as well. A short walk to the restaurant. Free tea and coffee and cookies in reception for all guests which is a nice touch. Would recommend.

We have come to this resort three times before with no incident. However this time when we checked in we asked for the king size bed we normally get. We were told to come back in 45 min. We drove to town and waited the required time. On our return we were told the second floor room we were sent to would have the accommodations we asked for. When we opened the door we were met with two queen beds. We returned to the desk and the staff told us this was all they had. I returned the next morning to ask to switch to the correct room and they told me they were sold out and we were in this room for the duration of our stay. I checked the Best Westeren web page for this hotel and it says bring your concerns forward to our friendly staff. Well!!! Not the experience I had. I am a Best Westeren rewards member and I believe in loyalty. I was very disappointed. If we were going to be put in a double room, why were we sent away to town for 45 minutes? We came to the hotel at 3:45pm.

A timeless setting on the ocean and staff who are happy to help. While the decor is dated and the gold paint very tired the views and beach access incomparable. The restaurant is beautiful but the food that night mediocre. Perhaps take the complimentary shuttle 5 minutes into Tofino.

We have stayed here two years running - we really just love it. The rooms are practical and simple but beautifully clean and have everything you need. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as the view is worth the compromise on spec in the room. Well done TinWis we will continue to stay there. Just one point though the bar staff we're not as polished as would be expected. Thanks

Another perfect stay at Tin Wis. We stayed last year and had to come back to this very special location just outside Tofino. Gorgeous beach and sun sets. Lovely room from which to lay in bed and hear the sea - even on a grey day it's a very special place. Very clean. Lovely helpful staff. Good standard of food. Thank you again to all at Tin Wis.

Beautiful setting directly onto a long sandy beach in Tofino, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Nice rooms all looking onto the beach. Environmentally friendly facilities. About 10 minutes slow drive to Tofino which is a small but vibrant town at the end of the Pacific Rim Highway. First Nation history. Friendly and helpful staff. Menu doesn't change so you would need to go to Tofino's many restaurants for variety. All guests come by car.

This up market Motel style hotel seems typical of the area. It is very close to MacEnzie Beach with views across the bay from all rooms. The reception lady we dealt with was a bit morose but this is not typical of staff in the hotel who were otherwise very cheerful and helpful. The laundromat was very welcome after nearly 2 weeks of travelling, but one of the two washers was out of order. Tofino is a very laid back town! Dining in the hotel's restaurant was a good experience with good food and excellent service. The room was totally adequate, although the bathroom was a bit small....a feature of Canadian hotels it seems.

I had a lovely stay at the Tin Wis. All the staff were accommodating and helpful from front desk to the shuttle service. Their breakfasts were lovely, their coffee excellent, and their location beautiful. I would fully recommend staying there!

Set on a beautiful beach with great ocean views, We were a last minute booking and had to book a suite. This was spacious with soaker tub and shower and kitchenette. A bit of overkill for the couple of days we spent but for a longer stay would be very homey as you you could do your own meals. The breakfast buffet was included which was very typical but no complsaints

I would not stay here again. They were sanding the floors and making a huge racket in the hall and throwing dust everywhere. When we talked to them they offered to move us but we have already unpacked and not worth the effort. Nobody seemed to care about our complaints. They also put us in this room knowing they would be sanding. Hotel is very overpriced for a Best Western and not worth the money

This is very expensive for what it is. It has a lovely beach front location but the rooms and facilities are otherwise uninspiring and it is a little remote from the centre of Tofino which is a long walk. You can of course drive or there is a free shuttle bus which stops on the main highway not too far away. If you take the bus in the evening, be aware you will need a torch to guide you back along the unlit roads on your return. There is however lots to do in the area.

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2018 as part of our first ever trip to Tofino. We chose the Tin Wis based upon location, view from the rooms, competitive price and TA reviews. Despite our careful research we wound up getting a very mixed experience. If you've never done it before, the drive in from Victoria and Nanaimo is amazing. After 6 hours on the road, though, we were primed for an easy check-in but didn't get it. We had requested a room on an upper floor from a building with an elevator. We were told when we arrived that none was available. OK, fair enough. We had to sign off on a long list of things we wouldn't/couldn't do in the room and one of them was to have animals. No problem, we're both very allergic to cats and dogs anyhow. But when we get to our ground level room we notice a strange smell, as if there had been animals inside. We start to unpack and then notice a doggie bowl, some dog food, some doggy towels and instructions on how to take your pet outside at the resort. Hmmm, so we can't have animals in the room and yet we have everything we need to keep our dog comfortable. We return to the front desk and tell them we can't possibly stay in a pet room and that we moreover just signed a contract not to have pets in the room. Well, all of a sudden they actually do have a room on an upper floor in a building that does have an elevator. Very strange but we don't argue. We just wish we could have gotten that room the first time rather than vacate one room and move to another. So much for the smooth check-in. The room itself was wonderful, spacious and had all the amenities you ask for. The kitchenette was fully featured with dishes, a microwave, a full-sized fridge, a burner-top, kettle and Keurig coffeemaker (great coffee in the room too!) The king bed was comfy as were the couch and work desk. Internet speed was fine. The bathroom area was spacious, clean and inviting. Despite not working, the fireplace added to the room's ambience. The ocean view from our balcony was to die for (at least for us landlocked Albertans who don't get out to the sea very often.) The hotel grounds were well-maintained and interesting to explore. Staff members were genial and helpful. Although there was no included breakfast at this Best Western, the complimentary fruits and cookies served every afternoon in the reception area were yummy and well-received. All in all the place was really nice. What was not nice was the rowdy crowd of high school aged students who stayed at the hotel for 2 of the 3 nights we were there. To call them loud and disruptive is an understatement. Their teachers and chaperones appeared to have minimal control, it seemed no one wanted to risk offending these little darlings. I could deal, sort of, with the constant din of their partying during daylight hours and shortly after dark. Unfortunately for us, several of them were lodged in the room next to us and we could hear their shouting all night long, including lots of choice cuss words. I'm not a prude but I also don't like getting woken up with the F word all night long, I'm a senior and I like my sleep. This behaviour really put a damper on what could have been a lovely relaxing stay. I complained about it to the front desk as I was checking out and they told me I should have complained earlier. The young man on duty told me that if guests were disruptive at night they would be asked to leave immediately. I suppose I'll have to take his word on that (these guys never fib, do they?) but it seems inconsistent with the all the noise that we experienced for 2 straight days and nights throughout the hotel. I'll also call out the teachers and chaperones of whatever school stayed there on the nights on May 15-16, 2018: you did a lousy job and your reputation should suffer for it. I could live with the botched check-in but the ongoing disruption from rowdy guests was too much for me. Were it not for them I would rate the Tin Wis at 5 stars out of 5, but I'll generously give it a 3. Despite the many positives, I doubt I'll be back.

We stayed at the Tin Wis for two nights back in July. The room was very spacious and the king bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly, and the food in the dining room was very good for a hotel. We only ate breakfast there on one of our mornings, but they offer a full menu. The location on the beach is why we stayed here, and that did not disappoint. I would highly recommend the Tin Wis.

We stayed for 3 nights and did't want to leave! Beach walks were fantastic and views are magnifient. Restaurant had a very pleasant atmosphere and food was memorable. Staff were courteous and attentive, and always had a smile. Rooms were clean and smoke free. This is a good location to just explore the immediate beach areas or venture out to Tofino or other beach and forest walks. We will be back :-)

Nice views. Clean rooms. They seem to always be training new staff, but there is no lack in service. Everyone's friendly, ready to be of service. The morning breakfast is ok, a little more than most offer for free. They have a shuttle to get you around, or if your energetic, it a quick , scenic 3 k walk into Tofino on a paved walking path.

We stayed at the Best Western Tin Wis Resort in Tofino for two nights the long weekend in August for a special anniversary celebration. The resort is situated on a nice stretch of beach. We had a kitchenette which was connivence. The room had loads of towels which made us not need room service as we didn't need anything except coffee. The thing that bothered us was that there was no air conditioning or even a ceiling fan. A small fan was provided but with the hot weather British Columbia has been receiving, it just wasn't enough. This resort was not cheap and including tax the room was over $500 a night so we naturally assume it would come with air conditioning . We found the room very stuffy at night time even with the window opened! We probably would look elsewhere if returning to Tofino again.

Title says it all. It is our getaway place. Enjoy..Beech is sand and quite long. waves are surf-able--.lots of parking and close to Tofino BC. .we will be back in October for another anniversary. 53 years enjoying each other in one of our favorite places..

Room was amazing except there is no A/C. Room was hot to sleep in. Very friendly staff. Not far from town, very peaceful and quiet area. Beach is beautiful, even have the options to set up a camp fire along the beach. Breakfast was good. I definitely would come back again to spend another birthday with my family. Well worth the long three day drive to get to this place, our puppy was also happy with his welcoming treat.

Stayed here as part of a road trip for 1 night. Great little place to stay, 50 meters from the beach in one of the rooms, not in the main hotel. Fantastic mainly for the location, the rooms were basic but ideal. Great for the sunset photos !!!

If you only visit Tofino once, and you must, then stay at the Tin Wis. the rooms all have stunning views and are spacious and well-appointed. The gym is great with a good selection of kit, and you can hire surf boards, paddle boards and wetsuits from the site shop. The staff are genuinely friendly, and happy to advise or help. A regular shuttle bus operates if you can't be bothered to take the40 minute stroll into town, but it works more like a private taxi. The only fault was the restaurant- overpriced , lacking choice and clearly experiencing some problems, but even here the staff were working to make our meal a success. The history is fascinating and it's a bit leisure to see First Nations taking a piece of the tourist action, more strength to them.

We lucked out and had beautiful sunny skies for our time spent in Tofino. This is a great place to stay and relax. Love having morning coffee on the deck. Rooms were comfy and tastefully decorated. Appreciated the real wine glasses ;-) Walking on the beach was good for the soul and this would be the perfect place to do a little storm watching too! The food in the restaurant was topnotch and the staff was awesome. The cookies, fruit, tea and coffee in the lobby were a nice touch. Watched a six yr old Cookie Monster stealing the cookies... so cute! Definitely will come back. (and not just for the cookies!)

All rooms have a great view to the sea. Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. The Beach right outside is Big and sandy. The restaurant is beautiful, again with sea view, food is average but ok. Tip: you can do a small fire on the Beach in the evening (buy Wood in the reception). You Can take the tonquin trail close to the hotel to tofino. And dont miss the Wild Pacific trail from Ucluelet and to visit long Beach where surfers are ridning the waves!

I believe all rooms have ocean views and patios, and I loved mine -- just being there was good for the soul. It's about a 30-second walk onto the beach. The room was really comfortable as well, with a fridge, microwave, and Keurig, and nice linens. I pity the housekeepers who have to inevitably clean up so much sand, but it was spotless -- when I arrived, anyway!

We stayed two nigths and something was stolen in my luggage. It is a accessory that goes with my camera. The funy thing is this accessory was in two pieces and the people who took, wont be able to use because i have the other piece.

What a lovely setting. Loved our log cabin including the Murphy bed! Really well appointed rooms. Restaurant served us well for both breakfast and dinner. Staff nice and friendly. We left a teddy behind and drove back to find him safe and sounds with the hotel team ... now that's service. Free WiFi too. Loved our stay, would recommend.

What a beautiful location. Was completely blown away by the location. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms had a beautiful view and were super clean and comfortable. The restaurant service was quite slow but the food was good.

We stayed two nights with another family during peak season. The location is amazing, right on the beautiful sand beach. Rooms was nice and clean though one of the rooms was missing a screen door which wasn't replaced as requested because there was no handyman on site while we were there. One couple was only given one key because they "ran out" and the desk staff said they would run one to the room as soon as they had one. That never happened. We asked for more towels and a note was left saying they would bring more later as they were all in the wash. That never happened. The party in the room next to is went out the first morntleaving thier barking dog in their room that would not stop barking. These may seem like minor complaints, bit when you are paying over $400 per night I expect a bit better service and attention to detail. Nice location, just not worth the price.

Stayed here with my family of 5 in 2 rooms for 2 nights and we all very much enjoyed the resort, the beach, having evening bonfires in the beach side fire pits & the relaxing atmosphere surrounding the area! The ground floor rooms were very clean, comfortable and having access directly out to the grass and then to the beach area was great! The restaurant was nice for breakfast in the mornings although somewhat pricy as we don't normally pay $60 for breakfast for 3 omelettes anywhere else, but it was good all in all! The location of the resort is nice as it is close to everything one needs from Tofino to Ucluelet. Will definitely stay here again in the future!

Tolfino is a stunning location and the Tin Wis Resort is reasonably well located on the outskirts. All rooms face the beach and what a stunning spot it is. The on site restaurant is adequate but Tolfino is a foodie heaven if you like your seafood so go into town instead! Rooms are comfortable but our bathroom was tiny! Hot tub was nice but would have been better if it was outside to catch the awesome views!

Tofino Tin Wis Best Western Plus - view. My kind of hotel, it's great here, who knew? Rooms overlook the beach and the bay, Chairs and table outside for our stay To enjoy this special environment And the weather was good the days that we went. Location not central - beach, semi-rural, It's the kind of hotel that rations the loo roll. The restaurant seemed a bit overpriced But they did good take away for us. Twice We had fish and chips - very nice. For a northern temperate rain forrest, Tofino lacked the promised rain. I protest! It was sunny and warm, but who cares For rain so we went to watch bears. An age-old question was answered there Jamie's Tour delivered the goods. Yes they do! And not only in the woods. But they prefer to fertilize the shoreline. This tour was wonderful - very fine. For over two and a half hours of great Entertainment, hard to over-state.

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very pleased with everything from the reception that we received, the breakfasts, drinks and evening meals that we had. Although this is an activity location on the Island, we came here for the views and to enjoy more of Canada. We did several walks and also went out Whale watching on our third day. I would recommend this hotel to anybody visiting the area. Just out of town which appealed to us. Will miss the views from the restaurant and our balcony.

2 washers and 4 dryers but pay attention to which coin inserts operate which machine - very confusing with missing or worn out labels. Although machine signage is "brief" you do need $2.25 CAD or 9 quarters (CAD) for washer and $1.25 CAD for dryer - that's a $1.00 "loonie" coin and 1 quarter for $1.25 dryer coin insert. Although staff were a help it was a true mission and lots of time to pause from laundry detail to locate persons who would provide such coin change. Bring your own coins!

So pleased with great service, great view and good food. After spending a few days in this area, it was nice to find such a reasonable and economical facility with such a fabulous setting. A real bargain, setting is as good as it can get.

My wife and I recently visited the Tin Wis resort after finding it on line and being able to book using Air Miles points. We loved this place. The staff were friendly and engaging, the rooms were clean with spectacular views of MacKenzie Beach. The Bistro restaurant could be counted on to provide fresh, local food. The setting is spread over several acres with each room commanding a view of the beach and the ocean. It is an ideal spot to return to each day after exploring Tofino, Ucluelet and the Pacific Rim Park. Highly recommend this resort, we will return in the future.

Wow. Right on McKenzie Beach. We brought our golden retriever grand dog as pets allowed. For a fee. We were assigned a pet friendly room right at the end of the wing. Couldn't have been better located. Our patio view is spectacular. Accommodation super. Comfy beds and clean facilities. So nice we extended our stay for an extra night

Two-story upgraded and plus motel, an absolute gorgeous location on the beach, Closed-in terrace for drinks, delicious food at the restaurant with very big portions, local art work on walls and totem on the lawn. Rooms are very clean, fridge and microwave. Balcony or terrace. Tea, coffee and cookies in the lobby, all personnel very courteous. Perfect sunsets on the beach. Only 4 km. from Tofino. Laundromat on premises. A great place to go back to....definitely

We stay at the Tin Wis every year. This year we had family with us. The spot the hotel is built on is beautiful, We had 2 rooms, one a regular king size and the other was a deluxe suite, very nice. Tofino is a small place with a few interesting shops and some nice places to eat. We have been there in May and also in August. May can be a bit cold and possibly rainy, August has always been beautiful.

We really enjoyed our stay of 2 nights at this hotel. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Great view and beach when you walk out your back patio. Location is within 5 minutes of Tofino. We had breakfast and dinner twice there. The food and service were excellent. Actually all the staff at this resort were great! This is a very good place to stay that is not too expensive and offers all conveniences. If we go back to this beautiful part of our country this will be where we stay!

Had a very nice stay here....beds comfy and staff helpful and pleasant. Downside....food at hotel restaurant was just okay for supper though breakfast was very good. Really liked the option and size of the fresh fruit salad. Construction going on, which was only a problem due to the pile of concrete dust and hoses that were right at the foot of the stairs where we had to exit with suitcases. Would stay again - lovely to be right on the ocean and able to walk on the beach.

This hotel (motel) is very well located, overlooking the Pacific ocean and with direct access to the beach. Each room offers an unobstruct view to the seaside. Room are spacious and very confortable. We spent 3 nights there and we enjoyed each moment; walking on the beach and enjoying sunsets! Beautifull landscaping

Stayed here for 5 nights, lovely setting right on the beachfront, great views of the ocean. Staff all very friendly in the restaurant, food good but portions too big. Great to use hot tub and have laundry facilities. Housekeeping hit and miss, room not always cleaned and room seemed part of the old complex, musty smell and bathroom needs updating. Close to trails and Tofino, near a chocolate shop and Tacofino which were all good.

We stayed at this hotel before and it was great. We went back there again, service, staff and the facilities was excellent. Location was great, a minute walk to the beach, quiet and restaurant was also good.

The hotel faces the water so when arriving you are seeing the back of the buildings. The view from our room was amazing, the room was clean spacious and had a comfortable bed. The location can't be beat. ocean front . You are a 45 minute walk into town and a 15 min drive to Pacific Rim NP trails. Enjoyed the cookies, coffee and fruit at the front desk. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and the service and food was good. You also get a discount which makes the price reasonable. We are also grateful to the waitress for letting us know of the rare opportunity ti visit Stubbs Island, which we managed to get the last free boat ride out. I am very glad we picked this hotel and will stay again next time we are in the area.

For a native owned and operated business, the place sure doesn't show it. The people in the public's eye are non native and the natives seemed to be the house cleaners. There used to a lot of native art displayed I. The lobby but not anymore. Would be nice to have the natives in the forefront of their own business, last summer there was pretty much all native operating the restaurant and now nothing.

On Mckenzie beach this hotel has all ocean view rooms. A little fridge coffee maker and microwave make it easy to have breakfast or small meals in your room. The resteraunt on site was good. There is a hot tub as well. Clean and spacious rooms with a patio or balcony to relax and watch the view. You can have fires on the beach in fire pits out front. Picnic tables and barbecues as well. Good value for tofino if you book in advance.

We enjoyed our stay at the Tin Wis Best Western. It is a lovely facility over looking Mackenzie Beach. We were very happy with our stay and will go again. The food was delicious in the restaurant - it was overall delightful experience.

We booked 3 nights here in June 2017. Rooms were OK and we didn't really use any of the facilities as were seldom at the resort, preferring to drive out and see the surrounds. So cant comment on that. Reasonably clean room. The first one had a horrible odour and so we asked to be moved. the hotel arranged this reasonably quickly. Car parking is onsite and easy. the best part is really the stunning beach location. Rough waves but this is the location you are in. But beautiful. Can walk along the beach and explore. We saw lots of families having fun. Great location.

enjoyed our 3 night stay just steps away from the beach. We enjoyed one sunny day and 2 more typical misty days but the natural beauty of the area worked its healing magic. Room was comfortable and the resort provided towels, blanket food bowls and treats for our chihuahua. Staff was courteous and helpful. the location, just minutes from tofino, meant we could check out several places to eat and shop in the village. the only issue was the sound proofing both from the next room and the room above but it wasn't unbearable just noisy at times

We stayed here 3 nights and thought the experience was wonderful and would definitely stay here again. All of the rooms have great ocean views and patios. Our room had a sofa and king sized bed. There was a wide, sandy beach , arcing in front of the hotel. The lobby offered fresh fruit, freshly baked cookies, and coffee and tea. We ate in the on-site restaurant two of the three nights and it was quite good....especially the fresh seafood options. A third night we had happy hour and appetizer. Mattress, pillows, linens, and towels were all fine. Housekeeping was good. Not a 4 star for sure, but great for people who want a casual, comfortable, o ran front property with wonderful views and on-site eating and drinking options.

Very expensive for a old hotel. Put on a coat of paint and call it new. It's still an old building. Just about 200 a night a you don't even get hot water.no elevators, have to go outside to hot tubs. Not an impressive place

The hotel is conveniently located to the area allowing you to travel around the area. The room is very comfortable and there are great views of the property and the ocean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a great stay.

Stayed two nights at the hotel. All rooms have a million dollar view of the ocean. We slept with our patio door open, priceless! It is a calm bay. Great for paddle boarding. ( onsite rental shop) Camp fires at night. Nice walks along to surf.

This is an unexpected gem of a find. Stayed here two nights at a beachfront room on the first floor with an awesome view. Parking is easily available and it's just 5 mins drive into Tofino town itself. When the tide goes out, take the opportunity to do an amazing walk along the beach. Tried the Beachfront Bistro for breakfast and portions are huge - enough for 2 persons to share one order. Service was consistently prompt and friendly. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Spent one night here with my parents who had never been to Tofino before. Absolutely beautiful hotel, clean room, and amazing view. Would recommend to anyone. Keep it up! Beautiful balconies, and nice beach to walk in.

Enjoyed our stay. A perfect location. Great staff. Helpful and friendly. This includes the check in people, the gardener and the hot tub attendant. Restaurant menu needs to be reviewed for selection and quality.

Excellent clean rooms, no mobility obstructions, every room has a direct view of the ocean, great sandy beach. Looking forward to our return visit. Full service restaurant and bar on site. a great area for photography.

We couldn't have imagined bette - the location, the rooms, the staff it was all wonderful. Sitting out on the bedroom patio watching the sunsets, learning from the friendly staff about the place and the history of the area, enjoying long peaceful sleeps in a comfy bed and evening strolls of the beach. It was a week we wont forget!

A trip with family awesome stay, nice location, comfortable beds, friendly staff...! would love to come again in August hopefully. your paying for a reasonable & comfortable stay...! had fun with my family.

My husband and I stayed for four days at the resort. We found it well maintained and the location on the beach is stunning.The staff were all very polite and friendly. The only drawback is that their restaurant isn't open for lunch, but we just ate at one of the many other restaurants in town. Interestingly, you pay to use the machines in the laundry, but they provide free detergent and dryer sheets. The food served was simple but large and well cooked. All in all a good find.

We stayed at this resort as we knew we could trust it would be nice as it was a Best Western Plus. It was so much better than nice. Great location, great rooms, and even better staff. We would definitely stay here again.

First of all let me say that this was the third time we stayed at Tin Wis resort. A very fine place operated by aboriginals and they do a fine job. Clean rooms, good supplies etc. Fantastic location, right on the beaches of the west coast of Vancouver Island. We stayed here 6 nights in april. Every night we went to their restaurant for dinner. And this is where we ran into a problem on sunday night April 22. We came in at 5:00 pm and there were only a few people at the tables. The lady-greeter (a young girl) told us to stay at the check in counter because she said "I'm busy right now".....My reply was "No problem we'll just go to a table for two and sit down". Wrong move on my part, I guess, because she turned towards me, pointed to an area about 6 feet away from here counter and said: "YOU STAY RIGHT THERE!" Wow, we are in our 70's, and a teenage girls (well... maybe early 20's) tells us to STAY RIGHT THERE. People behind us were flabbergasted as well. So, we left the restaurant, took the car to a restaurant close by. I would have given Tin Wis again an "excellent" review, but I just can't do it this time around. Please be careful who you hire to welcome your guests.

We spent a couple of nights at the Tin Wis resort in have a great location on the ocean, with a beautiful beach and nicely landscaped grounds. The hotel staff was great and the room was clean and nicely appointed. The door to the room had a decent gap around it so on the windy nights it let in cold air and an audible whistle, but it was far enough for the beds as to not be disruptive or uncomfortable, and the bed was comfortable enough that we slept well. The only downside was the on-side restaurant, the food was poor and the service was worse. I would absolutely recommend the hotel, but would suggest eating elsewhere, there's a lot of great options in Tofino.

All rooms face the water and the hotel is right on the beach, so the view makes up for any minor lack of perfection in the room decor. Clearly decor updates have occurred recently, such as the bathroom and carpets. But views trump a bit of dated / basic decor. We loved the large bathtub for 2 with a water view in the executive suite. The soap/shampoo amenities were nice, and all the staff we met were friendly and helpful. We were disappointed that the fireplace in our unit had been decommissioned, and we also didn't have a great experience at the restaurant. Overall, we still had a great stay, and it is a worthwhile Best Western destination to experience.

A great location with a great view. Rooms are comfortable with elevator access. The dining room was lacking somewhat considering the five star prices. Selection was either not available or poorly prepared. That said, the hotel management did everything possible to fix the problem.

We went for a 3 night birthday getaway. Check in was efficient with coffee, cookies and fruit available in the lobby. The room was a good size with a king size bed and a sofa as well as small desk and chair. We had a ground floor room so we could walk out onto the small patio which had a table and two chairs. The view was a great part of the stay, unfortunately the weather did not cooperate but that's Tofino. The room was clean, there were 2 sinks in the bathroom, a fridge and microwave. The only downside was the corner fireplace was "decommissioned". This wasn't mentioned when we booked the room and would certainly have been a nice feature given the weather. We slept well with hardly any noise coming from other areas. We did not eat in the dinning room.

This Best Western just outside of Tofino is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are very clean and spacious and you have such a fantastic view of the ocean. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing I just can't say enough about this hotel if you ever get a chance you should stay at it.

My wife and I stay in Tofino twice a year and make it a habit of trying to stay in a new hotel or Airbnb each time. I have worked in hospitality for more than 15 years and enjoy seeking out new ideas that other hotels have to offer. This last trip was a quick overnighter and we decided on the Best Western Tinwis. Although there was not really a “wow” factor, we were not disappointed - It was great value! The room was kept clean and the front desk was fast and efficient. The overall service during check-in/check-out was good, but that's really all it was. It is what I came to expect from a 3 star Best Western Hotel. Our requests were met, but there was no engagement from the staff. A greeting and a smile goes a long way! The room was in good shape, beds were comfortable, and the shower had decent pressure. We were in a room that had a view of the ocean (I think most of their rooms face the ocean) and it was spectacular! I don't usually surf Mackenzie Beach because it's usually flat, but since there were 17 footers at most other beaches, I found the 5 footers at Mackenzie more manageable for my experience level. It was great because we were on ground level where you could literally walk out your patio and into the surf – amazing! They also have an outdoor shower to wash off the sand and salt water after you are finished at the beach. The restaurant in the hotel was nice. We went for breakfast and it was a great atmosphere with ocean views from almost every seat. The service and food was great in the restaurant – no complaints here! How could Tin-Wis improve? Really it's just going above and beyond with service in my personal opinion. If you are working the front desk or any position that requires you to interact with a guest, smile! Greet the guest and interact with them. Make a personal connection – it goes a long way in this industry. Oh, and I requested an additional 30 minutes to check-out as we were running late and the front desk agent allowed it, but said they usually only offer a maximum of 4 late checkouts per day. I totally understand the reasoning for this, but you don't need to tell the guest that you can only offer a maximum number of late checkouts. There is either a guest checking into your room or there's not. Even if you want to keep the 4 late checkout rule, that is fine, but you don't need to relay this information onto the guest. Just tell them that there is a guest checking into their room and the housekeeper needs sufficient time to clean it before the next guest checks in. Simple as that. Also, I found a lower price through a 3rd party website and called the front desk to price match. They told me that if I found a cheaper price online to just book it online… Yuck! As a hotel revenue manager I actually cringed at this comment. Whether you are working for a branded property or independent hotel, the agents need to be trained to price match no matter what. I not only booked the cheaper rate online, but now Best Western has to pay upwards of 25% commission on that cheaper rate. Your bottom line is going to look much more attractive in the long run by training your agents to price match. I also e-mailed reservations before I found this rate online to see if I was eligible for an industry rate, but did not hear back from anyone…

The first time to feel treated bad as in this hotel receptionist. I arrived early and the manager asked me to wait for 15 minutes to make the room ready, when it wasn't ready he took my phone # to call me when ready. I didn't get a phone after an hour of waiting. Then I checked with receptionist who got changed and she told me that the room is not ready and I'm supposed to come at 4:00 pm. she was very rude, I took her name Farrah to make a complain about her way of handling my upset feelings . I got very upset and left the hotel to come back at 4:00. No apology or feeling of the time that I wasted waiting. The cover sheet wasn't clean. I found finger nails cut on the sheets. So they spent 4 hours to clean the room and dirty at end. When I wanted to check out the was very rude asking me to leave at 12:00 Is there any hotel cleaning takes 4 hours and the room was very dirty!!!!

Traveling through the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, on the left side, tucked away is the Best Western Tin Wis Resort. All rooms overlook the Pacific Ocean so theres absolutely no room lacking views. Crack the patio door open to hear the crashing & rolling waves lap on the beach as you drift off to sleep. The restaurant has great food and amazing breakfast options. Take a walk along the beach or stroll into Tofino for an amazing day of relaxation

We have enjoyed good breakfasts at Tin Wis dining room in years gone by. Today's was very disappointing. There were only six tables occupied leaving the room about 20% occupied, the service (including a long wait for somebody to take our order) was unbelievably slow and the food, when it did eventually arrive was, at best lukewarm. Even the coffee was only warm. Hard to understand when there were five or six employees standing around doing apparently nothing. No more Tin Wis breakfasts.

Our family had a great time at the Tin Wis. The views from our room and access to the beach was excellent. The beds were comfortable. Loved the coffee in the rooms. I was surprised and impressed by the value and quality of the restaurant. We are looking forward to staying at the Tin Wis again soon.

From check in to check out it was simply amazing. The Bistro was great - wish it was open for lunch. Short walk to the beach. The jacuzzi tub in the bedroom made it extra special. Awesome stay. Highly recommend this place.

We booked in the Tin Wis the morning we left Nanaimo to go to Tofino. Great customer service on the phone taking our booking, check in was done by the same gentleman, Glenn, he remembered me and was very polite and professional. Our double queen room was clean and fresh. Had all the essential amenities you ask for in a hotel room. Close to the town of Tofino, walking distance a local surf junction and steps to the beach and Pacific ocean. We will return that is for sure.

Although the room was a bit dated it was really comfortable and the location more than makes up for it. The room itself opened out to a beach view and is in a beautiful quiet location. Watching the sunsets from the beach and grounds was one of the holiday highlights.

This is a great hotel: clean, pleasant rooms, good service, great beach with easy access and close enough to Tofino for many visits. Only drawback for us was the small, busy hot tub area with little changing area for a large family hotel. Loved the fruit and cookies in the lobby.

We had a great holiday at the Tin Wis. The staff was very friendly, the room was comfortable - especially the soft beds. We loved our amazing view of the ocean. We loved being on McKenzie beach, great for exploring at low tide! We didn't enjoy the adjoining restaurant, but the hotel is very close to other great places to eat. The rental shop in the hotel was perfect. My kids rented wetsuits for $20/day. I hope one day we can visit again!

Yes, it's a Best Western that recently moved up to a 'Plus' level. Truly breathtaking and sprawling property which happens when you choose one that is 25 year old. A big difference from some of the newish accommodation properties with little ocean front. We had the peak top floor loft which has commanding views although tiny for three people. There were two fantastic queen beds. There is a microwave, Keurig and bar fridge, and we managed to warm up a meal. Had happy hour in the restaurant and it was great value for apples and drinks. Staff are outstanding. Stand up paddle boards and kayaks available to rent onsite. Main attraction is the convenient walk-on beach and the outstanding view from your balcony. Lots to see and appeals to all family members.

Excellent room,clean very quiet, staff friendly and very polite, beautiful view of the ocean, just steps away for a nice walk on McKenzie beach, good restaurant, we would recommend Tin Wis, and we will be going back

We just returned from a quick 1 night stay - already wishing we had booked 2 nights. Room 607 on the second floor had an excellent view. Room: Beds were comfy, room was clean, ice machine near the elevator, mini fridge, microwave and Kuerig in the room. Wifi wasn't super strong and while I hope you don't come to Tofino to be online, I did have a bit of work to do. Bathrooms were clean, lots of towels and counter space! Restuarant - we ate here for dinner and breakfast. Prices were reasonable and food was great. Hot tubs - there are 2 small hot tubs - gets crowded pretty quickly Grounds - the resort grounds were immaculate - people were always working whether it was cutting the lawn, garbage you name it the grounds are in top shape. Beach - we checked out 3 beaches while we were there and this was our favorite - it's a bit quieter than the others. Perfect spot to watch the sunset!

The first thing we noticed was all the beautiful First Nations art in the lobby, and the home-baked cookies. The service was great and the staff was very nice. The restaurant was beautiful. The beach was spectacular! Our room was a nice size, spotlessly clean, but the fireplace didn't work. Very sad about that because the balcony of our room had an unhindered view of the ocean, and being there in early March, it would have been nice to have a fireplace going with the sound of the ocean... The Jacuzzi was clean, as was the exercise room. We were very pleased. This is a good destination choice if you want a nice hotel on the beach, but without paying out huge money. Very affordable.

The location is good, with nice beach out front and close to town. The rooms are dark and floors very cold. The room was very big with weird mask pictures on the wall. Overall ok but for the money thought rooms could be nicer and with working fireplaces. The reception building looks new and modern. We were in an off building.

Nice hotel on the beach but we stayed for two nights and they had a big party on which wasn't a problem but our room was right opposite it so we didn't sleep all night with the boom boom of the music! Why couldn't they of put us round the other side! Also was hard to find a parking space with this being on ! Location great !

Great hotel, great service, friendly staff, clean rooms, restaurant looked amazing but never ate there. The view from our room was amazing. Definitely will be back in the future. Its a very calm place and its a trip i won't ever forget. I will highly recommend this hotel to family and friends.

I like the Tin Wis. It is located close to downtown and is right at the beach. all rooms have a good view of the pacific as well as are accessible by stairs & elevator - but they are "motel" style so access to your room is from the outside. Rooms are dated but clean and well kept. Stayed there for the second time and will do so again. A good place to stay at - free wifi, clean, hot shower, comfy bed. See you next time.

We made a return visit again this year and I wanted to note a few things that went on. Check in and out was not smooth and overly time consuming in particular check out.I had signed up for a quick checkout program but to no avail. There were quite a few people in front of me checking out with only 1 person working the desk which made things quite slow they did the best they could but myself included everyone was having issues with improper billing so my suggestion would be to review your bill carefully. Also wanted to note that in the past they have had a nice little area for BBq that the hotel provided the BBq in 2 locations.That has now been discontinued with the line being that it is a fire hazard so no more bbq's avail. Other than those couple of things,the hotel is still a good choice for value and location. They are sprucing up the grounds with added gardening which appears that it will be nice when finished

A stay in off season right on the beach , quiet, comfortable, great view, a good walk on the beach, a pleasant restaurant, what more can you want? How about full moon for those who can't sleep? Very close to Tofino, Accommodating staff.

We have been to Tofino many times, but this was our first stay at Tin Wis. And we were impressed! Beautiful location right on McKenzie Beach. We had a first floor room with a lovely view and could walk out the door right to the beach. Room was very clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Great selection on the menu, including seafood options. Excellent preparation and generous portions.

Went here in may 2017. Had a walkout ocean front room. Beautiful view, close to town and affordable. Hot tub room was quite enjoyable with a view of the ocean. Easy checkin and check out. Would stay here again!

We stayed at this property on a recent trip to Tofino. For the past several visits we've chosen this hotel. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The beds are comfortable. There's not a lot of noise transfer through the walls. The view from the balconies in the annex building on the 2nd floor are nothing short of spectacular. Request this room location but note: there is no elevator!! You are literally steps from McKenzie beach and a great walk in both directions. This property is also dog friendly in some rooms. The staff are attentive and very helpful. The restaurant isn't gourmet but it's good wholesome food.

This was such a nice surprise - we had no other options the weekend we stayed in Tofino - and we were so happy! The room was clean, new, very well appointed and the view was stunning. We had great weather which was nice. Fires on the beach at night - so many things to see. You can also rent wetsuits and gear right from the hotel which was an added bonus. We played in the ocean for a couple of hours (you need a wetsuit!) and enjoyed it thoroughly. We also used the hot tubs and that was nice on a cool evening as well. Would definitely stay there again.

I absolutely loved my stay here. The ocean view from the room was so beautiful and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I love the free coffee and cookies by the front door!! ?? I have to say though that I thoroughly enjoyed the food here the most. I tried everything from the steak to the salads during my stay but I loved the seafood pasta the most. It came with 4 types of seafood - shrimp, scallops, salmon and I think cod or halibut and it was just amazing!! Cooked to perfection and tasted great! Great chefs in that kitchen! I will recommend to all friends and family that may come this way!

For wonderful staff, rooms, restaurant, cleanliness, atmosphere & fun..the Tin Wis is a must if traveling to Tofino! Pet friendly, laid back & you feel like your at home, not in a hotel! I'd give it a 10 star rating if I could!

We gasped when we entered the room and saw the view from our patio doors. We were lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves both nights. It was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was convenient and the food was good.

We recently stayed one night at the Tin Wis Best Western in Tofino and wish we had stayed longer. All the rooms overlook the ocean, and the beach is wonderful. And there's a good restaurant on the property too. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room. It was quite large, with a king bed (very comfortable and super clean), couch, tv, desk with chair, small station with microwave, fridge & coffee pot, and a nice bathroom with large countertop (which we love), and a good-sized balcony with small table & chairs. We can't say enough good things about the staff, especially Courteney at the front desk, who was very helpful when I enquired about some other rooms. We had dinner at the Beachfront Bistro, and it was delicious. Our waitress was excellent too. There are hot tubs, a small gym, surfboard rentals and a laundry facility. If we had any suggestions for improvement at all, it would be nice to have hot tubs outside. We definitely are making plans to go back, and are delighted with the variety of rooms there are to choose from and the rates, especially at this time of year.

Great hotel to stay in while wanting to stay in Tofino to surf or storm watch. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and all of the rooms have a view of the water! Reasonably priced and we enjoyed the hot tub before retiring for the night! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Love staying here. Fire places were decommissioned, I hope they are not taking them away, it's part of the reason we stay especially in the winter as it's much more cozy. Great views from all the rooms and the bistro has good food and friendly staff.

The location is stunning, and the hotel is very good value for the location. There are ocean views from everywhere, and what you see is never the same. The staff were very helpful and accomodating for non-standard requests. You can happily spend all our time just staying right there, walking the beaches, or you can easily drive to other walks and short hikes. And it's only a five-minute drive to Tofino for a change of scene.

Stayed many times. The rooms and staff are very pet friendly. provide a towel and blanket, dish and treats for the dog and the patio doors open right onto the garden. Good to have both a coffee maker and kettle in the room too.

We took a quick getaway and grabbed one of the only rooms left in town on Expedia. We weren't expecting much not knowing anything about Tofino or the location on the hotel. We were very surprised to have a beach view. The room was large, very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend the Best Western Tin Wis

Great ocean front location, right on the Mackenzie beach. We enjoyed the amazing new year eve fireworks right in front of our hotel, and was told it's their tradition to have fireworks on the beach on the new year eve. The hotel will start room renovation in January, and has been upgraded to Best Western Plus. My room tips: try to get the rooms in 500-700 wings, that's the only 3 floor building in the hotel, with no big tress blocking the ocean view. And the 700 wing is on the 3rd floor, which has the unbeatable view for the sunset.

This is a great place to stay in Tofino. Well located near Tofino and Ukee. Great beach. Fireworks on the beach on New Years. Hotel staff are great. Great ocean views from the rooms. Highly recommended

Some staff were friendly. Rooms were below average for cleanliness. Restaurant staff were great. Expressed our issues with staff they didn't seem to care. Would seek different lodging next time in the Tofino area.

I always stay in this hotel when in Tofino. Great staff, rooms,views, and convenience to the ocean. The food in the restaurant is great. It is always nice to relax in the hottub after a day out in the winter to warm you to the bones.

We came back to this hotel as we loved it last time it was amazing. This time we got placed very low down and next to the restaurant - we couldn't see the beach which is what we loved last time. Asked for a move and got moved to first floor - same position. That is what disappointed us. We had such a good spot last time. Great position. Ideal location and beach is brilliant. Food was lovely and we had a great time. Reception updated but witnessed staff gossiping about other staff and guests in reception. Not very professional. Housekeeping as usual were brilliant and their notes were lovely - thanks.

My daughter had never been to the west coast of the island even though she has been here to see us many times. Drive from Mill Bay to Tofino through rain & snow was uneventful & beautiful. Heavy wet snow through cathedral grove broke branches off large trees and caused short traffic delays but nothing major. Walks on beach & pacific coast trail were great & nothing beats the scenery. Hotel stay was flawless & the staff was extremely friendly.

The Tin Wis Resort is well situated on Mackenzie Beach of which most, if not all rooms have a great view and you can hear the waves lapping on the shore. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a dog friendly room and were surprised to find bowls, treats and a dog towel. The Resort acknowledges the Ingenious heritage of the site which we appreciated. We had a pleasant, peaceful stay.

By far one of the nicest hotel stays I have had. Clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, awesome waterfront view (from every room) right on the beach. General appearance and lobby were very clean and pleasantly decorated.

Great staff and very friendly. Excellent property and very well maintained. On a great beach for walking. There is always coffee and cookies in the lobby. We stayed on the main floor since we had our puppy with us and he loved the ability to look out at the scenery.

Me and a couple girlfriends came on a get away trip to Tofino. Tonight was our last night at the resort and we had an uncomfortable encounter with one of the staffs comments. We were going to enjoy the hot tub for our last night but unfortunately we had forgotten our bathing suits, so we planned to go in undergarments. We went to the hot tub and waited for the other couple in there to leave, as to not make them uncomfortable. When they left we proceeded to take the towels off and cover ourselves while entering the hot tub. Once in the hot tub, where the bubbles are on, we are fully submerged and nothing was showing, we got a call from the main desk telling us rudely, "you guys need to put your tops on. You are on camera." We understand the rule of no public nudity, but we were not making anyone else uncomfortable, we waited for others to leave, we covered ourselves while entering the hot tub and made sure that we were not provocative in any way. Men are freely allowed to show nipples and we were not even openly exposing ourselves. We found it quite demeaning how the staff handled the situation and we quite appalled. We were just trying to enjoy the facilities provided and were not in any way provocative or making anyone uncomfortable. Disappointed about how the staff handled the situation, they could have simply informed us that we were breaking their rules and asked us nicely to leave or put towels back in rather than rudely telling us we were on camera, making us feel very uncomfortable and unable to enjoy the rest of our time in the hot tub. Glad we are leaving tomorrow and will never be returning if that is what they call customer service.

Really enjoyed my stay here, I live close by, the room was nice and warm and cozy. the bed was very comfy. i would definitely stay here again, and recommend this place to others, staff very helpful and friendly.

My wife and I have visited this resort many times over the years. Tonight we checked in for four nights. It was unfortunate timing that there was a wedding function in the Conference building. It's now almost 1.30.am. and we've had to make three calls to reception regarding rowdiness in the rooms in this block. They claimed that they sent security down and that they could see nothing. How on earth they didn't see and hear the drunken women arguing and fighting outside baffles me. The noise is unbelievable and unacceptable. It's quite obvious that they booked none-wedding guests into the same block as the wedding group. We certainly will NOT be returning here unfortunately! How this establishment gets a 'Plus' rating is unbelievable.

Fantastic location - spectacular view of ocean - its on the beach. Great restaurant. Lovely rooms with beautiful First Nations art. Nice hot tub and gym. However, there was absolutely no cutlery or plates supplied even though there was basic cooking facilities ( microwave and fridge). The fireplace didn't work. The restaurant has two huge TV screens which reflect in the windows so you can't see anything outside at night

What a nice place to stay! You get out of the room and, there you go, you are on the beach! The room is big and clean with a nice sea view balcony. The only negative point was the noisy fridge in the night.

The Best Western Tin Wis Resort is situated on the east coast of Vancouver Island. All the rooms have a view of the water so it's a perfect place for storm watching. We had a ground floor room and were able to walk down to the beach from our room. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Loved hearing the sound of the surf from our room at night.

Very friendly and helpful staff. It was an extraordinary experience sharing and learning about the area and which beaches were the best for walking and watching. The hotel is very clean and the staff were really accommodating. You can tell that the staff were happy to be working there and helping visitors

Clean rooms with exceptional view. Nothing too fancy, but very nice. Great location and good guest service!! Although it was disappointing that the fireplace was not operational, the room was very clean and nicely decorated. Two hot tubs were nice although a bit out of the way to get to; but worth the hassle for a nice soak.

Very nice property, good size room, comfortable beds and all of that with a view that was spectacular. Right on the beach. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and it was excellent. Would recommend this place to anyone going to the area.

We liked our first night here so much, we stayed in the area and came back for a second night. Room was lovely, view beautiful. I would recommend avoiding the restaurant as it really isn't very good, food isn't great for the price and the staff don't seem very happy. We went into Tofino and ate at Shelter. Good food, good price and nice music.

Wonderful location - I will stay here again! They have pet friendly rooms and all rooms have a patio door facing the ocean. Make sure you plan to be around for sunset and sunrise! The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful.

...going trough heavy times after my wife's funeral I took our dog and myself to this peaceful place just to contemplate and breathe some clean air on our beloved beach... This naturally sensational place and wonderful people offered much more than I expected. My time, space and privacy were MASTERFULLY respected and I had no need to explain anything: I had all the time and the space for myself and my dog on a wonderful beach and in hotel's beautiful park. I'll be happily back any time!

Wonderful location, great staff. Loved that we could stay just one night and not have a two night minimum. Quiet setting with a fantastic beach. Would definitely go again. Restaurant was handy with friendly staff and good coffee

Our service was good, check in went well, nice room with a view although it did advertise a fire place and it was no longer in service. Room was average, liked having a fridge and real glass ware. Location was nice, nice view of the ocean and looked over the courtyard. There was nothing we didn't like other than the fireplace. Amenities were good and enjoyed our breakfast. Service in the restaurant was good but failed on the allergy front, asked for garlic, dairy and gluten free and the condiments served with my meal had garlic and one also had dairy. Over all a nice stay and would go back.

We had a great time staying at this hotel, very close to the beach, and close to the town of Tofino. There is an excellent restaurant for breakfast and dinner, with a great view of the beach. The only negative, was the cold tile floor in the bathroom.

Stayed as a couple, nice hotel on the beach but nothing to exciting it's what you would expect from any regular Best Western. Avoid the restraunt if at all possible tried it a couple times over our stay and we were both let down each time.

Nice hotel in a great setting. You don't have to leave the property to experience the beauty of the area. Very good hotel service for great value. Cleaning services not very well organized but( nothing to hang on the door that you want the service now or later) however the cleaning was well done. A bit older hotel that requires some minor repairs(tub water spout breaking off) Close to Tofino. Easy access to various local attractions. Restaurant service was atrocious. We went to the Bistro on the night of arrival, ordered food and did not get served for an hour so we walked out. Other guests had the same problem.

What a lovely hotel. Great staff, great rooms, great views, great location. The rooms had coffee makers and fresh creamers, which was soooo nice. Everything was wonderful, except the restaurant, which is sad, because there is so much potential to be great

Great time away to breathe ocean air and walk along the ocean . The room was comfortable and clean. Located on Mackenzie Beach. We will definitely come back next year. The beds were great but it would be helpful if there were an extra blanket in the closet.

We came to Tofino area to storm watch and were not disappointed. Opening our curtains in the morning brought us a wonderful view of the ocean. We walked the beaches when it wasn't raining, watched the surfers battle the waves and listened to the wind and rain when it came lashing in. Lovely room and beautiful setting for our wet West Coast adventure.

waited 1/2 hour after ordering drink and still didn't get it so left, the following night, ordered drink and meal and got our meal before our drinks. Didn't have clean glasses or mugs in our room and didn't leave clean towels for our pet - had to ask for clean towels after our 2nd day and we stayed 3 nights.

My wife and I stayed at this resort for four nights. We only planned on staying for three but had such a wonderful time, we extended our stay for one more night to enable us to do more sightseeing. The staff are courteous and helpful. Cora the receptionist at the front desk was extremely helpful, making various suggestions on sights to see and how to get there. Our room was neat, clean and well maintained. The ocean view from the is fantastic for storm watching and watching the surfers riding the waves. That is to be expected though as every room faces the ocean. I don't think there is a bad view anywhere. Look, I'm not a rich guy but I will tell you, for the money at this time of year (Nov) for storm watching. I don't think you can beat it. Treat yourself to a wonderful mini vacation here, you deserve it. I will go back and I tell my friends about this best kept secret. Life is what you make it...... Enjoy.

I think the hotel is certainly good value, it is a little dated but has all the basic comforts and is pet friendly. The staff are incredibly polite and that up's the experience that much more. Every room at the hotel has a view so you never miss out on what Tofino has to offer. The restaurant is average, I did not find the food appealing (maybe an off day) but it left me with the impression that I didn't want to eat there again. The room was acceptable, except it had its quirks i.e. The bathroom is kinda small, you can't close/open the door without shuffling beside the toilet there's about a foot between the door and the toilet bowl. The fridges are turned off likely to save energy, so wasn't planning on pulling the fridge out to get to the adjustment knob on the back. Overall I was happy with my stay. If you have reasonable expectations this resort will satisfy. M

For the third time, we have spent a couple of days walking Mackenzie Beach straight out from our room at the Best Western Tin Wis Resort in Tofino. We enjoyed breakfasts & dinner with a Pacific North West flavour, and wandered along the regional path into Tofino for coffee one morning. A very restful stay in a wonderful place.

My wife and I found this hotel was surprisingly nice given the room rate. The rooms were plain but the view of the ocean and the beach just steps away from the room made this place perfect. The only downside was calm weather during a storm season weekend.

Awesome hotel. Centrally located (between Tacofino and the brewery - what more could you want.) Great service. Free coffee and cookies at check in. Rooms were clean and big with good coffee selection and fantastic views. Right on the beach and lots of dogs roaming around - which was a major plus.

Stayed here 3 nights in mid October. All rooms look out on MacKensie Beach. The property is very well maintained and prettty to look out our balcony to the ocean. We really liked our Tofino stay best of the places we visited on Vancouver Island. The bed was very comfy and we slept well. Lobby always had coffee and cookies set out which my husband really liked. The Hotel is located very near Tofino town , which was a plus since most of our meals were in Tofino at great places. So it was a short 5 min drive to town. Yes, most of the hikes were farther south and required a drive of 20-30 minutes - but I prefer to be closer to town for dinner so its a short drive back to our hotel. Also, parking is free and very close to rooms. We were on 2nd floor and there are no elevators but two young men took our heavy bags up to our room for us. Nice! This was a nice place ... like a solid B and maybe even B+ for the location. Some things to mention though - (1) the restaurant is just not good. We had 1 dinner and 1 breakfast here. Both were mediocre. Staff didn't know what they were doing . Wait times for food seemed long. They burned the eggs in the omelete ... unforgivable. (2) we had a King room with Kitchenette (which we never used). Not sure if all rooms have the same layout, but in ours the bathroom was a SUPER TIGHT squeeze. The door shouldn't even be there. If you want to close the door you have to squeeze to side to close it. And you have to close it to use the shower. Just a very irritating aspect to the room. (3) Breakfast - usually breakfast of some kind is included at a Best Western. But not here. We had to pay for breakfast and it was not well done and was slow service. I'd probably try one of the other resorts before coming back here.

Tin Wis offers us an experience of the beauty of the wild West Coast and First Nations art, music and hospitality. I leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends.

Tin Wis is on McKenzie beach, we take our dogs and love to walk the beach when the surf is crashing. The sunsets are magnificent, hotel dining room very good, you don't need to leave the hotel. The staff is pleasant and friendly, close to shopping in Tofino for a drive in to sightsee the stores and restraunts

Very comfortable room (they all have views over the beach), bed was comfortable and good shower. Location is at the edge of town, @ 5 minutes drive to the centre. It was lovely to be able to walk on the beach in the early evening, great sunsets. Had a good meal in the restaurant one evening, attentive waiter.

The grounds are beautiful and the view from the balcony is superb. The room was very nice. Comfortable bed and nice amenities. Staff was friendly and helpful. One warning: If you can't climb stairs and tote your luggage up them, don't reserve a room in the separate building. There is no elevator. I'll review the restaurant separately but suffice it to say that it's best for breakfast.

My friend and I stayed here for one night in October and were blown away with everything about this hotel. From the stunning ocean views in every room, to the comfortable rooms and beds, to the prime location on Mackenzie beach, the hotel lived up to its expectations. We arrived a bit earlier than anticipated but were able to check in right away. Jade at the front desk was so down to earth and welcoming and selected a beautiful room for us on the top floor. After settling in, we took advantage of the hot tub room which was much needed after a rainy day of storm watching. The towels were getting low so we called the front desk and an employee arrived within minutes to replenish the supply. The staff at the hotel really went above and beyond in making our stay comfortable and relaxing and I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat to anyone travelling to Tofino.

We were lucky enough to stay for 2 nights at this amazing hotel. All the bedrooms have a spectacular beach view - very clean and comfortable with everything you need - the whole atmosphere at the hotel is unique from the tribal art all over the hotel to the mystic music playing in the restaurant with its wonderful terrace - stunning

Tofino is gorgeous and generally quite expensive. The hotel is right on the beach and the value is excellent. There is a surf shop on site. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. All of them! It's pet friendly and very clean for being a pet hotel.

The beach was amazing, other than that I would not recommend this hotel. The bed was awful. The restaurant was slow and the service was lacking. The front desk and house keeping staff were very poor when it came to us leaving somethung in the room. I'm very disappointed in my stay.

The beautiful lobby was the first thing I noticed upon our arrival. The check in process was smooth and the staff member was courteous, friendly and extremely professional. When we arrived in our room it was very clean and comfortable. The view from our balcony room was spectacular. Right on the beach. Perfect any time of year. It rained hard while we were there and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the storm from the comfort of our room. We didn't have a chance to use the hot tub. The kitchen, though small was very well equipped and clean. The shower head was standard and could be improved upon. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well, which is saying something for this insomniac. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning.

This resort is enveloped by nature. The ocean view is stunning - due to some islands to break up the ocean swells, the beach is almost always calm - hence the name, "Tin Wis" which means calm waters. Located on the traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation you are immersed in a warm cultural experience. The rooms are modernish with some corners cut on the updating side. Old tile has been painted instead of replaced, the mattress felt like it should have been replaced a few years ago and the lighting in the bathrooms was incredibly dim. Additionally, our shower whistled the entire time it was in use and the tub did not drain well, so after each shower, you were standing in ankle deep water.

Very nice room, comfortable beds. Pillows too soft & too small for king size bed. Rooms need soundproofing to block out noisy neighbours. Very nice restaurant. Beautiful view of Pacific Ocean. Very clean.

I am in Tofino regularly for business and always stay at the Tin Wis. You can't beat the value of the location; right on the beach, great views, beautiful landscaping. The hospitality of the front desk staff is very welcoming. The restaurant on the other hand requires some work. The chefs are not consistent, the food can't be counted on to be good. The chefs mess up orders regularly, putting the servers in an awkward position. Consider eating elsewhere

I first became acquainted with Long Beach and Tofino in the late 1970's. Accommodation at the time consisted of a pup tent and a sleeping bag, with food and beverage service provided through a Coleman stove and cooler. Rustic as it may have been, we found ourselves travelling to Tofino every long weekend from May through September. Simple pleasures… This many years later, Long Beach and Tofino (and Ucluelet in fairness) remain every bit as compelling. The only difference being the personal choice to seek something slightly more comfortable than a pup tent. And a menu that doesn't include Pop Tarts as a main course. Keeping an eye on social network shopping coupons, my wife noticed a travel opportunity offered by the Best Western Tin Wis Resort in Tofino. Purchasing three nights of accommodation we looked forward to a mini-break in the spectacular surroundings of Long Beach. Sadly, circumstances conspired that made it impossible to make the journey for nearly three years. In this situation the value of the travel vouchers reverts to the cash value paid at the time of purchase. The Fates having decided that it was now time to visit Long Beach, my wife called the Best Western Tin Wis to see what accommodation was available, and to see how the travel vouchers would be applied. The first call in the late evening was met with appropriate politeness and interest, but the reservation clerk admitted that the circumstances were outside their experience, and rather than provide us with information that may be incorrect, suggested we call the manager the next day. A more than reasonable approach to the conversation. The resort manager, John, quickly understood what we were trying to do, and made extraordinary effort to meet our needs. With his help we booked for three nights in the first week of October. After a journey under perfect early autumn conditions we arrived at Tin Wis. The resort representatives working at the check-in desk offered a warm welcome, fresh cookies, fruit, and quickly provided key-cards for our room. We had been booked into room 710- a King Suite. While there was every reason to think the room would be comfortable, we were both surprised and delighted upon entering the room. Spacious, light, and comfortable (terms which were never considered in relation to a pup tent) the suite was perfect in every respect. A large living room with a comfortable couch, a separate bedroom with a king size bed and soaker tub by the window, and a modern and stylish bathroom. A deck running the full-width of the living and bedrooms offered unobstructed views over Mackenzie Beach. Perfect. Among the many resort amenities is the Beachfront Bistro. Having spent the day travelling the decision was made to have dinner at the resort, rather than drive into Tofino. This proved a very good idea. Offering 180 degree views of the resort and beach, the restaurant is a splendid place to enjoy a drink while watching the sun set over the Pacific. The food was fresh and served in a timely manner- the seafood linguine being particularly noteworthy. We enjoyed two evenings at the Beachfront Bistro, which in of itself suggests that this is worth a visit. Thanks to Chloe and Chance for your kind help and suggestions- you made our time at the Bistro memorable for all the right reasons. Tin Wis is everything promised- comfortable accommodation set in spectacular surroundings, all with the benefits of friendly and engaged staff. The only reservations anyone should have about staying here are those confirming your room… And again, my thanks to John for your kind help- this was a holiday that was needed and completely enjoyed. Based in a bay a couple of miles outside Tofino, the Tin Wis has comfortable and clean rooms with views over the beach. The restaurant in the hotel is also good, useful as it is a long walk into Tofino.

We had an amazing time at this resort. Great rooms, wonderful food, fantastic views and professional and friendly staff. Thank you to John the manager and his staff for making our stay comfortable and excellent.

We had stayed at at 5 star resort the evening before, and found the staff at the BW better, more attentive and friendlier. Little touches from an evening call to see if you needed anything, to great front staff. The service and location were a 10.

Spectacular view, close to the beach. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. I wish we could have stayed longer! I hope to be able to stay again sometime. Close to Tofino, B.C. Friendly and professional staff!

We stopped here for one night, but could have stayed longer as it is idyllic. Fantastic view of the ocean, with BBQs set out along the beach. We even watched five or six whales feeding off the shore for about ten minutes. Brilliant! The first floor room had a balcony (room 405 - $356.62), gas log fire , sink, fridge, microwave, kettle (but no spoons), desk TV WiFi, large bed, desk light with USB charging ports. However, only shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom- no shower gel The evening meal was good, but tainted by the 3 quarter of an hour wait for the starter and then 3 quarter of an hour wait for the main! Ran out of avocados at breakfast

Checkin in and out were painless. The room was clean and every room had a view of the gorgeous beach. Not 5 minutes after checking in I received a call from the front desk asking if my room was okay. We were here for a wedding - Beautiful setting, great food and friendly staff. We will be back.

I continue to be impressed with the service and staff at the Tin Wis! I use this hotel exclusively when I travel through for work and will continue to. The gym is up to date, the views and rooms are spectacular and the staff are friendly, kind and attentive! This hotel is well worth the stop!

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last year. It is right on the beach and sunsets are spectacular. Everyone from front desk staff, restaurant and housekeeping are friendly, cheerful, helpful and efficient. The room décor is modern and comfortable, There is a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. If you have Air Miles or Avion points you can use them to stay here as well.

The location is perfect,just a short drive from town. The property is well maintained ,and the views from the rooms are truly spectacular. The magnificent beaches in the area are all very close. The check in process was excellent,and the very efficient front desk staff provided us with excellent suggestions on must do activities. It is not an inexpensive hotel,but it is worth the extra $.

We stayed 2 nights in the resort and had a groundfloor room in block 5. Room is comfortable and a good size. The food is good. The first evening service was very good. The second evening we had to wait for more than 30 minutes before drinks were served and another 30 minutes before the food was served, this while there were a lot less people occupying tables.

Since the hiking trails are spread somewhat far apart, the Tin Wis served as a nicely located base from which to venture out. The view from the ocean facing rooms (all rooms face the ocean) was terrific. The staff were all very helpful and the on site restaurant was a convenient and good place to eat. There are other restaurants in the Tofino area, but the convenience of the hotel restaurant frequently won out. Book through the BW reservation line to get the best deal.

We stayed for two nights at Tin Wis. I have rated it four star due to location but probably three star hotel. Room was comfortable and clean but dated (we were informed an update is scheduled). Kitchenette in our room was basic - microwave and kettle, no crockery other than cups so limited if you want to self- cater. All rooms have beautiful beach views. We didn't eat at the hotel so unable to rate the restaurant. Staff helpful, free on demand shuttle to and from Tofino - excellent. Tofino also runs a free shuttle bus service - we caught the last bus back after having dinner in Tofino. Beach is beautiful and we enjoyed walks along it. Would consider staying here again.

Ideal location near Tofino on Beautiful Vancouver Island. Sand Beach location with town, National Park. whale watching and surfing nearby. Restaurant was excellent and many more close by in town. Great for Winter Storm Watching

The hotel rooms face a long beach. The view from your balcony is lovely. The rooms are good. The staff are nice. Ample parking and good WiFi. Felt it was a bit expensive for what it offered overall. The lack of inclusive breakfast was a shame. The restaurant offered a breakfast menu but again it was rather expensive for our tastes. About two miles outside Tofino itself, so every visit to the town needed to be driven. If I returned to Tofino I would probably try to find a place in town. However, that is just me and the hotel was fine.

This hotel has a spectacular view every evening when the sun sets!! Nice rooms and the personnel is really nice and helpful. Hotel situated right at the beach, you can walk straight from your room into the sea.

Booked for three adults and got two double beds. Called front desk and got no care or concern as it's Friday night there full of course. I asked for a cot and they don't do cots she stated. Guess I'm sleeping in my Truck. Going to be a horrible two days !! Room is small with no desk. Three ppl are on top of each other. Can't move. I'm terribly disappointed. We left a room to get better rates. Price a bit cheaper but so is what you get.

Stayed here for 4 nights in early September and were blessed with great weather. The hotel has amazing views and McKenzie Beach is a family friendly place. Rooms are a little dated (in the annex where we stayed) but very clean. Staff were always polite and available. Breakfast was not included as it is at some Best Westerns but the dining room has a decent menu and service was good at a reasonable price. It is a little pricey but typical of Tofino, we really enjoyed our stay here.

The Best Western Tin Wis Resort in Tofino is a beautiful property, with all rooms facing the ocean. The staff were friendly and helpful, but get ready to relax; they are operating on "Island Time". It is a little pricey, but par for the course in the area. I would definitely stay there again.

No mention prior to booking that the pool, hot tub, sauna and in room fireplaces weren' t available all season. Insulting offer of 20% reduction on breakfast which just covered the tip and taxes. Only restaurants on site were very expensive. Not worth $380 per night

The location of Tin Wis is perfect since it is on the beach with rooms with views of the ocean, staff are friendly and helpful, especially at breakfast, which was huge and good value for money,. Our room was really clean, well appointed and had the advantage of a balcony. The fact that there was an inexpensive laundry made life easier than having to search for one in Torfino, and the machines were efficient but gentle on my clothes. I felt that the restaurant can't cope when there are large parties but apart from that I cannot fault the hotel and would stay again were I in the area.

This Best Western Tin Wis Resort is in an excellent location in Tofino BC, right on the beach. The add for this resort is attractive, hot tub, pull, restaurant and access to beach. The problem there is no AC in the rooms, we were there during their hot spell, the rooms face west meaning in the afternoon the room was well onver 100 degrees. They did provide a small fan that helped cool down the room. However, there was no water in the hot tub or pull because the whole area is on a water restriction even though they receive 200 inches of rain a year. In addition the dish washer was down in the restaurant providing drama over eating there. For the original price $479 CD this place was no bargain. The manager recognized the problem and dropped the price to $298 reasonable for high season. If you go just expect that this hotel does not meet BW standards.

It took us about 30 minutes for the front desk person to be free to check us in at~ 5pm. The overworked and very gracious woman was taking phone reservations, receiving new guests, answering all in coming calls as well as consierge duties. Too much. Then at dinner. Again short staffed. It took one hour to get our dinner. I ordered the special that I was assured did not have peppers (intolerance). Later I was told they were out. I ordered a pasta. When it finally came it smelled like it had peppers. I was told there were none but on eating found it was loaded. After waiting an hour for food I did not want to wait another hour. I picked them out as much as I could but ended up eating little and going hungry. The kindly waiter did not charge me- he overworked as everyone else. We were 4 women to a room but only 'allowed' 2 keys. For the price this place is not good value for the customer and likely the poor staff.

Spent a couple of days here and wished we could have stayed longer. Beautiful location on a wide bay with shallow sandy beach. Service was outstanding and a special mention to Cora at reception who was immensely helpful. Hotel name means Calm Water which sums it up for me.

As "resorts" go this is seriously disappointing. The beach setting is awesome but the hotel itself is in serious need of an upgrade. Room, a good size but basic. Bathroom a one person at time deal and that one person has to hug the basin to get the door closed. Bath/shower took 10 mins to drain due to hair clogging the drain. Shampoo etc not good, Large stain on floor of bedroom/living area an unappealing feature and no air conditioning a little tough with the summer heat . All rooms featured a deck to enjoy the redeeming feature, the ocean view, however it mirrored the rather shabby condition of the whole complex. The staff were lovely and the grounds were well maintained. Overall, take away the setting & this was a very average motel, certainly not worth the cost which rivalled some of the nicer hotels we have stayed in around the world.

Loved everything, would go back again and again More if price a bit lower , cannot beat the view or staff The beach is clean, water sparkles and the grounds well maintained. The staff is always ready to help. The front desk a pleasure!!

Awesome location, had some kitchen and staff issues which took away from what was expected . We had smoke from somewhere in the room each night and without air conditioning it was uncomfortable to sleep .

Let's get this over with first: Tofino is blinding expensive and the accommodation is at best 'good'. This resort is a short drive out of town on a private beach. Large rooms (two beds), free wifi, plenty of parking. Given my time over I would probably have chosen to stay somewhere in Ucluelet. It's only 45min drive away (at the other end of the park) and you'll probably want to visit there anyway to visit the light house.

Having started our holiday in Vancouver we took the ferry over the Vancouver Island and after two days in Victoria drove up to Tin Wis. Driving into the car park it looked like a pretty ordinary motel type hotel. However when we walked into our room on the first floor our view out of our window across our balcony was of a wonderful coastline and little islands. The rooms are well furnished and the restaurant and bar area was well appointed with friendly staff. Walking in the grounds and along the beach is a must.

We decided to visit tofino at the last minute and got there late we were not going to spend the night in Tofino as we heard it was really expensive, we stopped at a few hotels and found this one to be the least expensive, it cost us $ 199.00 plus tax in cdn funds. this hotel was oceanview,the room had two large beds, free wifi,coffee machine,fridge and much more, we had an outside patio with table and chairs and had an awesome view of the ocean, it was just amazing!!,people where swimming til 9pm at night, I wish we had more time to spend another night there. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want a great view of the ocean and awesome sunsets and sunrises, sometimes its better not to prebook, we got lucky as the people in the room next to us had pre-booked on a hotel site and they paid $ 500.00 a night to stay in the same room as ours? I guess if you want to make sure you have confirmed hotel its better to book in advance, but in our case we decided at the last minute to stay overnight that was not the plan but im glad we did...

The resort was very relaxing. The ocean views were amazing. We spent hours walking the gentle shoreline in low tide and paddleboarding during hightide. The rooms were clean and well furnished. Staff was polite and accommodating.

The hotel is beautifully located at one of the Tofino beaches. The view is simply stunning. The rooms are good and spacious. Unfortunately not all staff is as friendly as I would expect. Breakfast and dinner are served as a buffet and trays are often empty causing some waiting time.

We drove up the island and first impressions were hmm, but when we went to room which was less than 50m from beach all was well. The hotel is functional, clean and the staff were really friendly. Due to location we eat both nights of our stay, plenty of food cooked nicely, Good quality not that expensive. Good stop over hotel for couple nights.

Located on child-safe McKenzie Beach with great views of the Pacific Ocean. Friendly staff and very clean rooms. Electric vehicle chargers being installed when I was there. Hot tubs closed due to regional water restrictions - not the hotel's fault though.

Tin Wis Resort was in a beautiful location of Tofino but the resort itself really let us down. It was nothing special and HUGE expensive!! The kitchen was down during our stay and all hot tubs were not in use. They didn't compensate us at all. Huge disappointment

What a location one of the best I think I have seen, the Hotel is set right on the water front in Tofino, the rooms come with two comfy double beds, tea and coffee pods very nice but a small bathroom. The hotel in my opinion is starting to look a little tired but is still a good 3 star. breakfast was a little disappointing asked for Granola and just got a bowl of Granola no yoghurt or milk just the Granola thought that was a little strange also the evening meals were a little limited for us. Staff very happy and pleasant so no complaints maybe we were just expecting that bit more.

Just a quick thank you to the staff at the Tin Wis, who looked after us last week.Despite the kitchen being out of commission a complimentary breakfast and extended outside BBQ service were laid on to make up for the inconvenience. We also had an early whale watching trip one morning and the staff put together a breakfast goodie bag for both my wife and I. The friendly staff coupled with glorious Mckenzie beach location make the Tin Wis a wonderful hotel to stay at! Will hopefully be returning soon.

The location and the hotel amenities were excellent. A professional and courteous staff made the stay very enjoyable. Would stay again. The hotel made the best of a kitchen renovation by providing a complimentary breakfast for the duration of the issue. Very nice.

Nothing special about the rooms (standard Best Western) but the view from your patio is amazing. A big, beautiful, ever changing tableau of beach, ocean and forest. Walk the length of the beach, then walk via road a short way to the next giant expanse (McKenzie). Come back tired and hungry, buy some food from the shack near the beach, crack open a bottle of wine and sit on your patio enjoying the spectacle. Travel just doesn't get much better.

its difficult to fully review this hotel compared to the others we have stayed in. First we arrived and where really cold due to the fog, this was a big surprise to as it had been warm/ hot everywhere else. So we got to see very little of the fabulous views other travellers had talked about. It was like this for most of the 3 days we were here, understand the hotel cant control the weather but did get to feel like a wet weekend in the UK at times. Also the hot tub and restaurant where closed and with only a microwave fridge coffee maker and kettle made it a bit tricky to eat in. We did end up buying plastic cutlery and paper plates and buying hot chicken to eat in the room as if we wanted to eat out we had the to go into town and the shuttle bus from the hotel was very helpful but was just a member of staff running guessed around as and when in a mini bus. The room was good but a little dated. The was a bbq shake doing food but they only had a limited amount of food and not everything they had on the menus.

We stayed here 3 nights. Plus side is it's right on the beach. Typical hotel room, nothing fancy. The fireplace was "out of commission" and the restaurant was not operational, but they did have a free breakfast which was very nice! There was also a burger shack on the beach that was good, better than expected.

Loved our stay, the Oceanview from our balcony was beautiful! Long Beach is breathtaking and we enjoyed our evening strolling along the water. The staff was very helpful! We will definitely stay here again.

Brilliant hotel. Lovely location. Great service. Great staff. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is visiting Tofino. The staff are superb and the location of the hotel is just amazing, right on the beautiful beach.

We arrived in the evening after driving from Sun Peaks to Horseshoe Bay Vancouver, then after the ferry ride, from Nanaimo across the island - getting on for twelve hours. The hotel looked fairly ordinary outside, reception and staff much cheerier inside. Then we arrived at our room and looked out. WOW. Right on the beach, with views out of the wooded bay across the Pacific. This was the epitome of serendipity; my daughter's main criterion for hotels on our trip was "wifi", so the setting was a huge bonus. The room was not perfect - chipped paint etc, but nothing that was a problem, and we had to ask the staff to stop doing a full room service every day. The restaurant menu was actually the best - most varied - in the whole of our trip, and the service was as good as you would get anywhere. I think you would need a good reason to not choose this hotel. Compare the picture with the view from our room in the Pinnacle Waterfront Vancouver.

I stayed there for one night. The room had a smell which was acclimatised to. There are some permanent stains in the bath and scraps on various metal objects so this is not a luxury hotel if you were expecting one because of the steep room prices. I like the coffee maker, kettle, stove, pots and pans, ceramic mugs, and crockery in the room as I like to cook my own food and don't like feeling obligated to dine out while on holiday. I'd like to have seen more helpful front desk staff, and you can hear footfalls and mumbled conversations from the rooms around you.

This is an excellent hotel. Rooms are large and look out over the Pacific Ocean with a nice sandy beach. It is well run.Meals are a bit overpriced. Employees are friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable. Keurig coffee makers in the rooms with a wide range of options. We would go back to this hotel at any time.

Welcoming and comfortable accommodations in Tofino, right on Mackenzie Beach. Very dog friendly. Great staff and amazing food at the attached restaurant. I have stayed here several times and it is always the same.

Terrific spot with views of the great beach from your balcony. No big waves means its a super beach for kids. Soft sand and rocky edges to explore for star fish! Hotel is older but in good shape. Staff are terrific and do a great job. Restaurant is excellent. Tofino is expensive but you get your money's worth here.

not good at all, The check in was not good not clear . They told me it could be from 12 to 4 pm so I asked to be informed via text but no one did so half of my day was waisted and had to lug around my belongings from place to place . The room looked worn out , bath tub was old and scratched the steam would be around after shower for hours and no air-condition ,The curtains were holding up with screws that fell on my head while I closed them . I don't want to spend my time calling front desk for such useless things so I suffered and left with my partner who was visiting for the first time !!

it was a great spot to stay for relaxing. Vary friendly staff. with a great view from room. I would suggest the second or third story for better quiet stay. Third story is the newer part. Not the beach for surfing if thats your plan. no waves. Need to go to Cox bay down the road. But if you want to stand up paddle board or have young kids and don't want to worry about as much of an under towe its great. room was nice but a little crowded to have two adults and two teens. but can be done with a little patience. and really just threw to sleep and a few stops through the day.

Lovely hotel with all rooms overlooking the fantastic beach. Good restaurant but can get busy. Plenty of hiking in the area and some great beaches to walk/relax on. About 10 minutes drive from the centre of town. There is no lift to the upper floor and we were not offered porterage although probably available.

A lovely resort on expansive Mackenzie Beach just outside of Tofino, B.C. operated by the Tla-o-qui-aht band of First Nations people. Great staff and service. We enjoyed the beachside BBQ shack with good chicken and bison burgers. Peaceful but fun for families with young children, too.

Great location . Clean rooms. Super staff!!! Loved it. Was convenient to town . Easy to bike ( near paths ) . Great advice from front desk . We sound it to. W the best value of any place in or near tofino . We will definitely return soon.

This resort was nice, it wasn't fancy by any means, but clean and the folks were friendly. It was a perfect place for us. Room was basic, but had all the comforts you might need. We did not eat at this resort, but heard that the food is very good. Best thing about this resort was its location on the beach. We really enjoyed spending most of our time walking and exploring. If you don't mind a longer walk I believe it took us about 30 minutes to walk to the town center. Overall we had 3 great nights there and we will for sure be going back. We often stay at Best westerns all around the world and so far we have not been disappointed.

Beautiful views from every location at this hotel. Not far from town and all the hiking/sites. Bonfires on the beach. Onsite surfing and paddle board lessons (did not use). Restaurant was on site and staff was friendly. This is not an American style resort, it is more rustic but any family with kids visiting tofino will love it.

This is a really nice hotel in a beautiful setting right on the beach. We had a ground floor apartment with french doors that opened right out on to a lawn and then straight onto the beach. It would have been great if you could have locked the patio doors from outside and gone straight on to the beach but you had to lock them from inside and then walk round to the beach - but this was the only minor point. The rooms and the gardens are clean and well kept. The restaurant had lovely food and was not over-priced as it could have been for such a remote hotel. There are several gas bbqs and we cooked our own steaks one night. The restaurant provided us with tools and crockery. There is a lovely patio area with stone patio heaters which were great for a late night drink if the air gets cooler. There is free wifi and there were fresh cookies and fruit available each day in reception. It is only about 5 minutes by car into Tofino - which is also a lovely place.

The location is amazing, the view is spectacular, comfortable stay. Myself with the kids we enjoyed the friendly staff always smiling, proactively offered to help. I was advised that I'd be walking to the beach right from my porch but we had the upper suite so had a distance to walk but had a spectacular view nonetheless.

We enjoyed our stay, although expensive, the costs were inline with this area at this time of year. We would come back. It would have been nice to have hotter weather conditions but Tofino is not too hot at any time during the year. We attended a wedding and the area was spectacular for such an event.

This is a very nice hotel on Mackenzie beach... you will feel relaxed as soon as you arrive. The problem with the room that we booked via booking.com. We had a loft suite that apparently was double booked, even though we did get confirmation from the hotel after I made the booking a month earlier. I don't understand how it was double booked if we had a confirmation from the front desk, but they blamed Booking.com. We were disappointed since this was a special holiday and we came from Nova Scotia and Norway... but the staff gave us two rooms for the price of one and one had a kitchenette so we could make food for our kids. So what can you do when everything is booked in Tofino? :( Jeanna from front desk was very kind and I know she did her best to re-accommodate us. The food in the dining room was all very nice, lots of nice fresh fruit, big portions...but the staff are not very attentive, waiting for a long time for more water or coffee, it seems like a small thing but really it makes a difference in service. A couple of times we had to get more water for ourselves or our kids. We are there everyday and it just seemed like some of the waitstaff were uninterested and hanging back by the upper bar. The only thing that could make this place better is if they had a heated pool and a store with snack items/ beach toys/ frisbees. There is a small vending machine upstairs behind the front desk. Otherwise, a short walk down the road to a small store. They only have Pepsi products, so if you want a rum and coke, head out for a stroll ;) Wifi is super slow... so just get out and enjoy the beach!

We enjoyed our stay. Great location. We went to ever beach in the area. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I wish we could've stayed longer. We will be back. Combers beach was our favourite beach. Saw all kinds of things washed up along the shore.

Beautiful location with lovely green landscaping sloping gently right onto Mackenzie Beach. The hotel buildings are attractive. Our room was nicely appointed, in a quietly upscale manner. It was large with a comfortable bed, a terrace and a great view of the ocean. We enjoyed a good breakfast in the restaurant which is light and airy, also with lovely views of the ocean. The staff are very friendly and very efficient. You can rent boards and gear at Tofino Paddle Surf right next to the hotel. Mackenzie Beach is uncrowded and the calm waters perfect for kayaking, beginner surfing and SUP. The water is also extraordinarily clean and bracingly cold! Bring or rent a wetsuit. For other entertainment and activities, it's just a short drive into the center of Tofino. Our stay was all to brief but we shall certainly return to this delightful, peaceful place.

Tofino is out of the way but well worth the trip. The BW Tin Wis is a real gem. Located right on a beautiful beach with views of rolling surf it just does not get better than this. Highest marks to the hotel's excellent staff. Very comfortable and very relaxed. Come here to chill.

My 2 girlfriends and I arrived on a Monday at around 2.15 and enquired about an early check-in, if possible. We were advised that they were getting an uodste in five minites from housecleanimg. We happily waited in the lobby for about 20 minutes (no onr came to see us) and went up to check again. They told us that unfortunately we could not get in early, but there was a guaranteed 4 pm check-in. That was perfectly fine with us and we headed in to Tofino for a look around. We returned at 4.20 and our room wasn't ready. After several checks and apologies from the staff, we got in to our room at 5.20. I told the assistant manager thst this was unacceptable. They apologised again and gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. This was nice, but I did not feel ot was good enough. I asked for 3 complimentary breakfasts the next day and they were happily provided. This was the only downside of our stay. We had 4 pleasant nights At the Tin Wis and appreciated the friendliness and service. I would come back. It is a beautiful, serene location.

Nice native touch from location to decor and service. Beautiful beach, but don't even think about swimming at the height of summer. At list price of $339.00 per night it is over priced. It is about 4 to 5 five hour drive from Victoria Airport.

We stayed at the hotel 5 nights and had an incredible time. Beautiful views from all the rooms and nicely equipped. Great beach, nice to walk and not to far to walk into town. Great stay and I would highly recommend.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The views from the bedrooms are to die for. Looking out on the beach and the sea. Peaceful and calming atmosphere. The staff are generally helpful (will come on to that). The rooms are clean and comfortable with everything you need for your stay. But the views are amazing. We wish we had stayed for an extra night. The food was good in the restaurant but had 2 different experiences for breakfast and dinner. The servers at dinner were helpful, attentive and engaging. The food was served promptly and with a smile. Breakfast however ........servers were generally slow and at times we never saw ours until the bill came. Food was good but took to long to come. No enthusiasm was shown. Despite asking for more coffee none came, but other tables got theirs. We would stay here again without doubt, but they need to improve their breakfast service slot.

We had a wonderful time here. We were asked on arrival which room we would like and chose one on the second floor with great views over the garden and beach. Check-in and information at the restaurant was good, with free fruit, coffee and cookes. Laundry room was useful, and free detergent was supplied. Breakfast was good, and the salmon in the restaurant for our evening meal was fantastic. Highly recommended

Beds were comfortable.Beautiful ocean view with patio to sit out and enjoy the ocean view and breeze. 2 indoor hot tubs . Very clean and extra towels provided. Breakfast not included but a voucher for discount given. Keurig Coffee machine and kettle in the room. Enjoyed my 2 night stay very much.It was on a beautiful sandy beach,great for walking or swimming. Short distance from downtown Tofino.

Comfortable, scenic, quiet, pleasant - on the beach, historic, great view from room, great dining room - paddle boards surf boards available, very close to Tofino - 10 mins. and Ucluelet - 30 mins. Hiking trails, surfing, wind surfing, whale watching

Went to the Tin Wis in May and loved almost everything. Restaurant was very good.Rooms were dated but also good. People working there were all very friendly. Great views . Lots of trails to explore . My only complaint would be the 2 hot tubs were pretty filthy. We only went in the hot tub once so not a huge deal. Rooms were cleaned and restocked with coffee. Would go back to the Tin Wis in a heartbeat!

Location is perfect right at the beach. Very accessible from our hotel room. Closed to grocery, cafe and stores. Room is big enough for a family of 4 with two queen beds. Equipped with microwave and mini fridge. The balcony is a plus as you can enjoy your morning coffee with a nice view. Internet is good - no hiccups. Restaurant- served good dish but a little pricey. We were told at check in that they will offer discount for all hotel guest but was not offered by the server. We will definitely back and recommend this place to our family and friends.

Beautiful views, sounds of surf, safe beach, nice restaurant, nice room, great/helpful staff. What more could you ask for? I'd be back in a heartbeat. We had a campfire on the beach and made smores - wonderful. Their restaurant has good food and beautiful views. Nice little sitting area separate from the restaurant (but connected) with couches and gas fire pits. They did this one right - very impressed!

Note that this hotel is on a First Nations Reserve. The entrance to the hotel is not clearly marked as a Best Western. I walked into the lobby not knowing if it was the hotel or some sort of cultural building. I had to ask because there was not a single Best Western logo to be found. You approach the hotel rooms from behind, which has terrible curb appeal and made me extremely nervous. The flooring in the corridor to the rooms was pealing and not kept up. The seal on my room door was not tight and there was a large gap between the door and frame. The hotel is right on a beautiful beach but I really felt like on the off season there is no reason for such a small average hotel room to be $266. Definitely not what I was expecting. I got a much better value at a different hotel my second night in the area.

Quite nice BW right on the beach with a great ocean/islands view. The surf is heard all day and night with your slider or windows open, lulls you to sleep. Clean beach about 2 minutes walk out your slider door. despite quite a few campers in the neighbouring park. Lots of loose dogs, if that bothers you. Very hard packed dark sand, almost no loose white sand to navigate. Rocks to climb on to the far left of the beach where depending on the tide, you can perch on and watch the surf crash. Service was good, lobby open 24 hours with coffee, teas and cookies, and with some apples available. I did not eat at the pricey on-site restaurant. Choice of queen or king rooms, a few were kitchenettes. Bring your stocked wallet, prices are high. Early June was $1000 Canadian for 4 nights in a regular king. Easy walking to the overrated Tacofino truck a couple k's away (S off highway 4), but there are other choices (Wildwood Grill, chocolate/gelato/bakery) in the same location. Town is about 2 K's to the north, easy trip, plenty of food choices. You can rent surfboards, paddle boards and get lessons from the adjoining surf shop beside the lobby. There are other adjoining beachfront lodges but we like BW so stayed here. Can't go wrong, just not a budget place at all (if you are looking for "moderate"...).

A very good hotel (although a little dated) is in a great location. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely pleasant and always available to assist when needed. The food both in the restaurant and the Beach Bistro is extremely good. The view cannot be beat.....outstanding. Would recommend this hotel.

Wonderful stay at BW Tis Wis in Tofino. The views from the room of the beach and ocean are spectacular and the hotel is a wonderful place to chill out - the staff were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed visiting the Botanical Gardens - very close by and easy walk. The shuttle service to and from Tofino was much appreciated. Would suggest eating in Tofino rather than the hotel as the restaurant is quite pricey and the food is nothing to write home about.

Great hotel. From your room you walk directly on the beach. Rooms are well furnished and have lot of space. We were lucky: due to technical problems at tge neighbourroom, we have been offered another room for the second night. An executive suite. Inclufing a tub in the bedroom. Fantastic!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Tin Wis Best Western. We arrived with our small dog and were very pleased with how lovely the room was. There were no signs that it had pet visitors stay. It looked great, very clean, no door of animals and the view from the room was fantastic. We would stay again for sure.

It's so hard to choose a place you've never been to, but we are very happy we chose this one. Ground floor, could drive right up, small patio that looked right out to the ocean and close enough to walk out to the beach. Great bed, loved the pod coffee maker, good linens and very friendly people. It's not elegant, not old and run down, but well kept up. The town of Tofino has many eating places and lodges and B&Bs, Ucluelet has few eating but many places to stay. This is a good choice

Great experience and wonderful staff. The views on the beach were amazing and the grounds on the hotel are kept clean and tidy! Loved it! Our room was always cleaned, the staff are friendly and personable! We would highly recommend staying here! Nice and centrally located also!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience staying in best western hotel for second time. Best Western hotels are very clean, with friendly staff that makes you feel you are at your home/hometown. We really appreciate your excellent service and will never try any other hotels in our trips.

Gorgeous view of the ocean. Great staff and very clean rooms with comfortable beds. Wasn't sure if we wanted to stay on the main floor so they let us see a room first, glad we took that one. Lots of coffee (Keurig) and tea with creamer. They even had two wine glasses and opener. We arrived early and restaurant is not open for lunch but they have a wonderful little cook shack on the beach serving BBQ burgers and salmon burgers etc. Glad we didn't have to to go into town right then. We had a great stay.

I have been here many times and never disappointed. The rooms are big, all have a view of the ocean. A beach is right in front too. They have a laundry room for you to catch up on cleanliness and the soap is free. Amazing place all around.

First of all, we had difficulty finding the hotel. There is a Best Western sign on the highway and we made the turn. We drove for a bit and came across a motel (not a hotel). This motel did not have any signs; nothing to indicate that it was Tin Wis or a Best Western. We drove back to the sign thinking that we had made a mistake. Realizing that we must have been on the right track, we returned. I asked at the desk if it was the Best Western and it was. (I wonder why they don''t have any signs???) Second, the clerk does not understand about upgrading. The fellow in front of me received an upgrade when he stated that he had just applied for a membership the week before. When my turn came and I asked for an upgrade, there was nothing available (and I was a Platinum member). Third, the place needs to be upgraded The paint on the floor in the hallway is coming off in big pieces everywhere. Fourth, the Best Western icon is not used on the mugs in the room. (It seems as if they are trying to negate Best Western from their business.) Fifth, insulation is needed around the door. There was so much space that it let the cold wind in. Very unpleasant. Sixth, the restaurant was awful. I had ribs (which were the previously frozen kind with sauce, not chef made.) The other person in my party had a beef burger....which turned out to be disgusting. It did not have the consistency of hamburger. It was grey and mushy. It either wasn't beef or they had boiled it (our best guess). The coleslaw was also past its due date as it was really off. This was actually one of the worst Best Western's that I have stayed in. Oh, one more thing, where was the free breakfast???

Booked because of Best Western Affiliation - and we lucked out - terrific resort - great location on the beach - fabulous view all times of day --- really liked our room # 503 - main floor walkout with beach access - large comfortable room complete with a fireplace - pleasant in the evening enjoying a glass of wine - enjoyed the hot tub - and breakfast in the restaurant was very good with a 20 % discount for hotel guests - great stay - *** have to mention Mariah a staff member who found my wallet in the parking lot and returned it - this act of honesty was very much appreciated

The Tin Wis at Tofino was a wonderfully beautiful experience on the Victoria Day weekend. The friendly efficient staff only enhanced the view. Having free internet and really good Marley coffee in the room were the icing on the cake. Come and see it, sit on your patio and watch the sun go down!

We stayed for 2 nights just to have a holiday in tofino and do some hiking and touring. We were very impressed excellent hotel,wonderful staff we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.

Room was very nice although a bit disappointed the room fireplaces do not work. Beautiful beach and property. Rules are a bit overboard if you are a smoker- pretty much can't smoke anywhere on the property.

We stayed here as it is one of the mostly reasonably priced hotels in Tofino. We were very happy upon arrival as it was much nicer than we expected. The view from the balcony was amazing! There is a restaurant on site which makes it easy for a nice breakfast or dinner after a long day of exploring. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a waterfront hotel in Tofino without breaking the bank, this is the place to stay!

We have stayed here the last 4 times we've come into town. Friendly staff, nice walk out dog friendly rooms and close enough to town to let you enjoy what Tofino has to offer. The beds left us feeling a bit in shambles and our room smelt a bit funky upon arriva and throughout our stay on our last visit but every other time has been great.

We LOVED this resort! Easy to find, plenty of free parking, check in was a breeze, and our room was FAB! Our King Suite #407 was a large, spotlessly clean room with a couch, wide screen TV, Keurig coffee maker, cream in the mini-fridge, and a kitchenette with extras. The gas fireplace was lovely, our balcony was huge, and the Mackenzie Beach view was a MILLION dollars. Plenty of resort waterfront area to explore, beautiful art and totem, two indoor HOT tubs with full change rooms, and plenty of fresh white towels. Did I mention the bed was another 5 star experience, and the TV played music? We also dined that evening at the resort in BEACHFRONT BISTRO (reviewed separately) and loved our meal, ambiance and service! 100% recommended, and we hope to visit again soon. Cheers, Paul

We were heading out of Tofino and stumbled on this place for something to eat. The location is beautiful and the food was excellent. All of the staff were superb apart from the front of house a woman called Ruthie who was very rude, maybe she had had a bad day. It did not put us off our food and a must if you are visiting Tofino.

Very expensive to my tastes, but last minute decision to travel to Tofino didn't leave us many options. The room we were given was fantastic - large, with a kitchette and great bathroom. The view was spectacular. Friendly, helpful staff.

We planned a two night stay at the Tin Wis Resort, but added a 3rd night because we so wanted to enjoy more time at this beautiful setting. I am glad we started our one week road trip on Vancouver Island here. The relaxing, chill atmosphere set the tone for the rest of our vacation. Thank you Tin Wis & Staff!

This is an excellent resort with all rooms facing the ocean (some at an angle). The staff are excellent & very much want to please you. The beach is 100 metres away & the sunsets breathtaking! But it has been known to rain on occasion- remember it is on the west coast above the 49th!

The room faced the ocean, there was a beach, walkout from sliding glass doors , great indigenous decor in the lobby, a restaurant with a view on three sides, easy parking. Had a laundro mat as well., easy entry to bottom floor room. Grounds were spacious.

You cannot beat this hotel. Beautifully run. Great staff. Very clean. All needs anticipated. Right on beach. Heard the waves all night. Wonderful place. This is the best Best Western I have ever stayed at. I stay here once a year and the service never falters.

This place surprised the whole family. It is what you see in the website. You could see the ocean from our rooms and hear the waves. I always adore looking towards the ocean in the mornings and this is it. Here's the view from our room. We will definitely stay here again.

The Hotel was clean and had a wonderful view ot the water, The staff were very helpful and nice at all times, I would stay again , The restaurant was good and we were very impressed with our meals. We needed a quiet get away and it served its purpose very well, The Hot tubs were very clean and had a great view of the beach.

BW Tin Wis is outstanding. Rooms are clean and well maintained. All rooms have ocean views, and beachside. There is a mini fridge, coffee maker, kettle. Fresh fruit and delicious cookies are available in the lobby daily. Staff are courteous, helpful and professional. Hotel has a lovely restaurant. Loved our stay here and would definitely return on our next visit.

We did not want to bust the bank by renting a cabin but with a dog we needed a place that was pet friendly. We found it at the Tin Wis and it was excellent, a large room on the ground floor overlooking the beach at half the price. The room had a large fridge a microwave oven, a kettle (tea) and a coffee maker. We had two double beds although we only needed one! Being on the ground floor with a sliding patio door was great, just in case the dog needed to take a pee during the night. This was all we needed for a great week-end - a little sun would have been nice!!

To be honest, we were not huge fans of Tofino going in, but we were so very wrong. Tin Wis is beautiful, well maintained, clean and the staff is fantastic! The room was gorgeous and such a beautiful view!!! We truly did not want to leave and will most definitely be back. Thank you Tin Wis!!!

Beautiful hotel, extremely friendly front desk and staff. My only complaint was the hot tub was not in the main part of the hotel. It would also be helpful to have carts accessible to move luggage from the outside of the building to the upper floors. I travel with a lot of luggage for business and getting it up to my room was a challenge.

This resort is in a woody area that opens directly onto the beach. The view of the beach and ocean from our room was beautiful even in the windy and rainy weather. All of the staff were very helpful and provided us with information and directions for the rest of our trip. We had dinner and drinks and breakfast the next morning at the restaurant. Great food.

We stayed for four nights, the room was very comfortable, the view from our room was breathtaking, we were right on the beach. Fridge, coffee maker, fresh cream, Dining room was lovely, staff very helpful and friendly. Everything was perfect.

Very nice location right on the beach, one of the more affordable hotels in the area. Very friendly service and comfortable rooms. The resteraunt was good, and you get a 20% discount at breakfast if staying on the property. Would be nice if they extended the discount for dinnner too!!

When you enter your room at Tin Wis you will be greeted by one of the most stunning views the west coast has to offer. Chesterman Beach is at your doorstep offering up surf, beach combing and bird life. All the rooms face the ocean and have balconies or patios. We stayed four nights in early April in room 709. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed 2 breakfasts and one dinner in the attached restaurant. The food was very good especially our grilled salmon dinner with fresh vegetables. There is a 20% discount for breakfast and the portions are generous. Even on a rainy day this hotel and its location will not disappoint. Hearing the waves just outside our balcony reset our souls. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. They provide Bob Marley coffee pods for the keurig coffee maker and fresh cream in your fridge. There is also a microwave in the room. With this hotel's location, amenities, professional housekeeping, waiters, and front desk staff, they could easily charge what some neighbouring properties do. This was a terrific value we will be back.

I forgot we asked for a silly request - make a pillow fort in our room. We were overjoyed when we walked into our room (a walkout right to the beach by the way) and we had an awesome pillow fort to giggle about; something small and silly yet blown away by the customer service. Such an amazing place to stay! We also loved the comfy style of the hot tubs (individual comfy seats with the jet controls right at your finger tips - no need to get out to reset anything!)

This hotel was great, it was right on the beach, the airport shuttle picked me up from the airport, and made my entire stay great. The food in the restaurant was great. I ate breakfast their every morning and dinner once, and lunch once... As for the other restaurants in the area, you need to make reservations starting in may as they get slammed during the summer! This hotel is family friendly and even has a kids play set on site!

Driving through the forest was like being in a cathedral. Awesome. Tofino was wonderful. Went whale watching, saw a large group whales. How exciting. I loved the trip. I have a terrible, terrible time coming uo with 200 words. You just have to make the trip itself to see how wonderful the entire trip is. Also drive down to Uculet, another great place to visit. I hope that is 200 words now. Go see it, you won't be sorry. The last part of the drive is on very curvy roads, so drive slow. Enough already?

We had a great stay. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. Obviously a beautiful view. Dining Room decor was great. My friends enjoyed their breakfast, my french toast was a bit plain. We will be back.

Took a quick night away from home, good value for money, clean room, everything as expected from the description on expedia. Restaurant had good food and service. Front desk staff were not the friendliest but would still recommend to anyone visiting Tofino

We came for 2 nights during spring break. Excellent value for Tofino. Easy free parking and effortless check in. Friendly front desk staff. We are 2 Adults and 2 kids (both age 12). The hotel has a main building and then a side one. Just beautiful location and right on the beach. Our room was to the side building. Initially I was skeptical about the location but we actually preferred it because we were steps from the hot tub room. Wonderful ocean view from patio doors and just steps away from the beach. Sizeable room and very clean. Great layout and amenities. As you enter there is a kitchenette area with a huge sink, microwave, and mini fridge. Separate bar area with a Keurig coffee maker with great Marley Coffee and fresh cream in the fridge. Standard bathroom with bathtub. Main hotel room area is larger than a standard room, very comfy king bed and the kids said the pull-out couch was comfortable too. We tried to get the room gas fireplace to work and called front desk for help but they apologized that they are removing all of them. It's too bad I think the fireplaces are a nice touch. There are 2 hot tubs at the hotel. Very west coast room. Cedar and stone. Lots of seating. Very clean. Noticed they drained and cleaned EVERY night. View out to the ocean. We had breakfast at the restaurant. Average prices for Tofino. Food and service was excellent. Overall total thumbs up. We will be back!

After a 4 hour drive from Victoria, our hotel had a serene and peaceful view of the beautiful beach. We really enjoyed our balcony and spent most all of the afternoon there, when not on the beach or in town. The room was comfortable, but nothing fancy. There was a restaurant onsite that seemed pretty popular, but we did not eat there. Only wish from kids was there being a pool- the swing and slide on site was nice for them. Excellent value.

Nice location, great views. Hotel is dated. Beds are okay but should be upgraded. Didn't use whirlpool or sauna as was in an area way at the back of the building in a room closed off. Is not a safe area when your alone. This should be moved to. Nice open area facing the lake.

Arrived in Tofino without a reservation---worked okay in October but I wouldn't want to try it in July!!! Checked out a few places but when we got to Tin Wis we were sold----very nice property on a spacious piece of land and right on the beach. Views to die for. Low tide allowed for beach walking, bocce playing, dogs having a great time and their people an even better time. Sunset over the pacific after a lot of rain was the icing on the cake. Our room on the second floor was spacious and had a good size terrace. We spent two very content nights. Had breakfast in the restaurant both mornings and it was good--only downside was the coffee provided in the rooms was better than in the restaurant!! Oh, and depending where you are in your travels there are laundry facilities available to guests which we appreciated. When we checked in we weren't told there was an elevator in our building so we carried our luggage up to the second floor. Not the end of the world but when we discovered the elevator we certainly used it when we left. Would have been nice if we had been told in the beginning. Drive into Tofino is easy, even at night which we were a little concerned about. Tin Wis offers the best of everything----unbeatable location and easy access to the town.

This lodging is located right on the water with expansive, landscaped lawns leading down to the beach. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable with a great view of the beach. The hotel provides boxed lunches for an extra charge and they were tasty, filling and a good value for the money. Breakfast in the restaurant was good, but service was always a little slow. Nevertheless, we would definitely stay here again.

The king sized bed was super comfy, service is awesome, views are out of this world. Right on the beach with paths down to beach, would be great in summer - BBQ facilities & benches to use. I can hear the surf from my patio. Had the venison & wild mushroom stew - mmmm. My husband had the halibut which he enjoyed as well -Very reasonable with bottle of wine. Definitely recommend!

Came up to Tofino for a spur-of-the-moment getaway. Got a last minute deal at a Best Western for under $100.00; but hey! It's on the beach, right. So we are not expecting much, comfortable bed and clean would be nice. As we pulled in, it looked like a nice, well-kept complex, so far, so good. Lovely welcome at the front desk with fresh cookies and coffee. There's a small gym and a hot-tub. The room is immaculate with nice toiletries (toiletries are my litmus test for hotel quality lol). Awesome view over McKenzie Beach. Got into the comfy bed (with lots of extra pillows), watched a little tv on the flat screen, and then fell asleep to the sound of pounding surf. Haven't tried the breakfast yet but the bistro looks good and overlooks beach. Sweeeeeet!

Stayed in a 1brdrm suite, ocean view room, with a small kitchenette. The room was clean, check in & out was easy. We had a large deck with view to ocean. There is a large field in front on the hotel before the beach - excellent for kids to kick a ball etc. The beach was fantastic - not to rough (MacKenzie Beach). Free breakfast - was a decent buffet, eggs, bacon, cereal, toast etc . As a buffet - everything was self serve and we didn't eat in the restaurant otherwise. Downtown Tofino is not far and we enjoyed our stay. I would stay again

Went to Tofino sort of last minute and luckily Best Western Tin Wis had room! Pleasent staff, quick and efficient service. Room was clean, quiet and very reasonably priced. Every room has a view of the beach with a balcony/outdoor space. Easy beach access and has all amenities best western is known for. Staff were even willing to open the gym early for us! Didn't try the restaurant or Sauna merely because of time. We also apreciated that they did not require a 2 night minimum stay. Overall a nice spot!

My family of my wife and two young children stayed for two nights. Clean facilty. Well-designed and staff friendly and eager to please. We had a ground floor apartment so we had the patio door open. Nothing better than the Tofino beach and storm season. Noticing that there was not a single dog on a leash on the hotel property regardless of the sign and the hotel's efforts to accommodate the owners. A pit bull ran up to my preschooler and into our room and grabbed some pepperoni. The owner seemed not to care but was visible after a short while. The dog visited again but I gave a nice stare to the dog and owner and the dog was summond away. We did not bother informing the front desk but consider that if my child was attacked, it really would not have mattered in the momement. Health Care may not have been readily available in this remote area. Decide whether you are willing to put up with entitled, irresponsible guests of a nice hotel. Food was great but no real children's menu. I asked for a half-order of pasta (full price $24) but they said they would charge $16 for the half. Do the math. No room service there but not a big deal as it was just more convenient to not go into the town (and prices are just as high in town). Not a bad stay, just am glad to have my family intact.

We stayed there for 2 nights early october. Good hotel with a very nice location oceanfront. Room was pretty big and very clean. Plenty of plugs for charging, and a good free wifi. Food in the restaurant was very good, both for dinner and breakfast. The hot tub with ocean views was excellent. The only negatives were the lack of a safe deposit box, and the shower, which was pretty bad and very old. It made alot of noise with hot water. That's the only reason i didn't give 5 stars to the review. Overall it's a very good hotel, a bit old, but well maintained and clean. I recommend it to anyone going to Tofino.

Well I'm afraid our stay at the Tin Wis was marred somewhat by the initial fact on check in that the room we reserved, despite saying so on the confirmation from our travel agent, did not have the fireplace I had requested. You see, going to the Tofino area in November you can be kind of guaranteed of two things - rain and cool. We got them and in anticipation we asked for an ocean view room with a fireplace - which is reported on their website as being available. Well, on check in, and this had been reserved well over a month in advance, we learned that there were no 'fireplace rooms' available. I wasn't happy but after a long drive from Victoria on a cool and rainy afternoon what were our options. The delightful young lady at the desk did however arrange to discount our rate for both nights of our stay. Although we found the room quite clean and comfortable, the rooms are tired and the bathroom was sufficiently small that any thought of two of us using it at the same time was quickly abandoned. Ok, so much for the bad stuff, now on with the good. The grounds are excellent. The ocean was rolling in with some serious wave action and despite the single digit temperatures, the waves were alive with surfers (thank you wet suits). Our room had a balcony facing the ocean and (sweaters on) we enjoyed a glass of wine and a most enjoyable surfing exhibition. There are lots of places to eat in and around Tofino but the first night we decided to check out the Tin Wis dining room. To say we were delighted is an understatement. The food quality, presentation and service was outstanding. And again, meals taken during daylight hours can benefit from the ocean views from the dining room.

We booked a last minute deal and had low expectations given the 3 star rating. This is one of the nicest stays we have had in all of our world travels! You are 100m from the Pacific Ocean! We left the window open all night for the sound of the waves, nice touch with he pet bowl, bones and towel/blanket. Our dogs loved the beach out front. Room was clean and bed comfortable, staff very friendly. Would feel so lucky to return.

Nice stay with friendly, helpful staff. Our place was a bottom room facing the sea, so surf boards and landsailer had easy access. They take air miles and so that was the best part. Surf was great while there and so never had to hunt beaches. Beds were a little soft for my liking, but each to their own. all good, recommended.

Seldom have we arrived at a hotel after 3pm to be told 'room not available' but here it was pushing 5pm before we obtained a key (along with a $50 restaurant voucher as compensation for the wait. This location started as an Induan residential school (not the same buildings) and is now a low-rise motel style (outdoor corridors) resort operated by the local Indian Band with primarily well-trained tribal staff. Our king-bed room was well appointed, if a little crowded includind a hated K Cup coffee machine. Second floor views of Mackenzie beach from the balcony were stunning and the near-level access through natural landscaping including picnic tables and BBQ pits allowed daily walks on clean sand

While this location is great We were disappointed in a lot of details. When we reserved we did let them know we would have our dog with us and it was our anniversary. When we checked in the view from the room was fantastic, however I noticed a note from the hotel saying "No pets in this room" So I called the desk to say hey we have our dog and I was told "this is an overflow pet room we don't have anything else" There was no were to put our dog leash, towel. After a few hours I had to call and ask for a dog blanket and the girl at the desk said "oh the towel, bowl and blanket aren't in there?" No I had to go get those at front the desk. Housekeeping needs more training to details, when we go to the room we did find white dog hair (our dog is brown/black), the next day the floor into the room was clearly not cleaned it was filthy, the coffee not was replenished (again I had to go to the desk to pick up, the bed was not made they just tucked in the duvet and top sheet and when I pulled that off the bottom sheet was just as when we slept on it. The restaurant seemed overwhelmed to my surprised as it was not busy we asked for coffee 3 times during breakfast and NEVER got it. Finally I went to fill my coffee cup with the coffee they have in the lobby and that was empty too. Also asked for jam and never got that. I found none of the staff overly friendly, the hotel has a shuttle but it only runs till 8pm on Friday night which didn't help us any. I did mention all this to the staff before we checked out (no manager on site on Sunday morning) and to be honest they didn't seem to care. Cherry on top I was quoted an amount including our dog and at check out it was $45 more, but like I say at this point I could tell the staff could careless I didn't even bother mentioning it. I expected better service from a Best Western.

Amazing view and beach...... staff great allowing a early check in ...quiet and relaxing ...cant beat the location for swimming or just walking the beach ...close to town and long beach .... restaurant was a little disappointing but still a great stay .

Had dinner at the restaurant at the Tin Wis, I have many eating restrictions. The service from Ceara was exceptional, and Chef Carley even came out to ensure she got the dinner order right. It was delicious!

We had a wonderful room with a loft, so we had a great view of the beach and the bay. We were there during a series of storms so we had front row seats. Although there are wilder beaches down the highway, we were very happy to be warm and secure during those storms. The room was spacious, with two queen beds, a sofa bed and balconies on each level. There was the usual coffee maker, kettle, fridge and microwave, which meant that we could have breakfast in our room. A table with chairs would have been a nice addition, but we were able to use the sofa coffee table. The grounds are very well kept. There is direct access to Mackenzie beach. It's not a very long beach, but it is nice for a morning and evening stroll. For long walks, there are other beaches nearby. We were able to book this hotel using Airmiles and we were very pleased with our stay.

The best two days I've ever had in Tofino started with this hotel & the incredible views from our ground floor room. I found a great online rate for a last minute trip out to Tofino. I've been coming here for 30+ years and we landed some of the best weather I've ever experienced. This property takes advantage of both its location and the views provided. The staff here are top notch and it was seriously one of the best places I've ever stayed. We lucked out and got a ground room floor which meant we could walk out to the beach from our room. Each room has a patio with chairs and a table so you really can't lose, but a walkout - even better. I know where I'll stay next time we get back there.

Peaceful surroundings, great place to get "stuck" in a storm! Lucky for us, the ferries back to the mainland were "beached" during projected storm and we got to stay an extra night! The kitchenette was well stocked but I added a potato peeler and a small cutting board; would like to have had a sharper knife. The bed was superb, my husband thought he might trade his Temper Pedic.

This is my third stay on my annual October vacation at Tin Wis. I love the place and have always enjoyed our stay.. This time was not quite par. The last 2 times we have randomly needed to remove hair and debris from the shower drains when we get there. It wouldn't drain until removed. Our room was not like our last 2 stays either- 309- was ground floor at the end of the line. The concrete wall blocks your view unless your standing outside. A public picnic table is near the patio so there were people sitting there most the time making this room not private. I tried to upgrade upon looking at room but no upgrades were available. It was heartbreaking as since we book so far in advance yet got a lacking room. The food was not as amazing as our last 2 times either. My burger was very well cooked and our friends ribs were overlooked as well. The service is so nice that I couldn't bring myself to mention the well done food. The pasta dish the next night was delish ! Chicken chipotle - yum! The service by all staff was fantastic as always. We will probably give it one more try simply since we love the place so much- but hope that a regular room is offered.

Very impressed with the overall friendliness of all staff we encountered, from the registration desk, to the restaurant, to the room cleaning staff. The facility is clean and neat and the room we had was very comfortable with a good view of the beach. Definitely a place we will return to on our next trip to Tofino and the Long Beach area.

The staff, facility, and location are amazing. Zero complaints -- I'm loving this place! The restaurant has a GREAT dinner menu and the Bannock ERMUHGERD! SO GOOD! Can't beat the view from the rooms-- doesn't feel like I'm in Canada ??

All rooms face the ocean. Snd have a balcony. It was nice to leave door open a bit and here the ocean all night. Yes there's a gym - extremely small. Restaurant on site but we didn't try it. Our room was very clean and quiet. Satellite signal on TV would get lost sporadically. But all in all, a very nice resort on a great beach.

All rooms have an ocean view. We had a ground level so we're able to walk right out the patio doors, across the grass and there was the beach. It was beautiful. The beach is huge and sandy and the view incredible. Our room was clean and fresh.

Myself and my partner stayed here for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Bed comfortable and room was beautiful (lovely fireplace made it feel like a home from home). Room was a great size and came complete with fridge (with mini freezer inside), microwave and separate kitchen area sink. Only mini negatives (but not enough to downgrade from 5*) were no soap to wash up glasses and mugs and no cutlery provided. Our view from our balcony overlooked the beautiful beach. Great place to stay and would definitely stay again.

Despite the steep rates, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I was given an upgrade to a room with a fireplace (which, unfortunately, didn't work) and kitchenette which was very nice for my three-night stay. The view is awesome and the beach is just a few yards away. Employees were very nice, too. The only thing I would improve is to include breakfast in the room rates.

Never been more impressed with a venue. From the courtesy bus who picked us up when we were stuck in town late at night to the food & room itself... this place is amazing. Everything a traveller could ask for. The hosts and hostesses in the restaurant are true professionals and can not be faulted. Best chefs around too!

Stayed at this resort over Thanksgiving to celebrate our anniversary. The king one bedroom was clean and cozy and had a kitchenette. We walked the beach several times and watched the sunsets. All the staff were friendly, efficient and always had a smile. The restaurant also had a great view of the beach. We ate breakfast there where the food was fresh and hot. We also used to hot tub and really slept well after our soak. We went on a tour out of Tofino and the staff at the front desk offered to have the hotel shuttle drive us there and pick us up as parking in Tofino can be quite difficult. I would highly recommend staying at this resort.

We stayed in the 300 block, and loved our room that had easy access to the ocean through the patio door. Grounds were well maintained. Of course, we loved that it was dog friendly as well. Our one night stay cost over $300.00 in the off season. (October long weekend) I was impressed wth the Keurig in the room, but disappointed in the poor coffee selection (decaf and dark roast only, blech). We didn't try the restaurant because our friends, who did try it, said the service wasn't up to snuff.

Nice views of the ocean. Room was older but well cared for and clean. Had fantastic views of the ocean from our balcony and also was able to hear the ocean as well. I had the salmon at the restaurant there and it was fantastic.

We really enjoyed our stay here, we were lucky with the weather as we visited in October and enjoyed some spectacular sunsets. The hotel is right on the edge of the beach and every room has an ocean view. The staff were all friendly and polite and the onsite restaurant served good food and we had no problems with the service (as other reviewers seemed to have). I would recommend this hotel for the ocean views alone but it was a comfortable and friendly place too.

Highly recommend this wonderful resort. We have been coming to the Tin Wis for many years for our Anniversary on Thanksgiving weekend. The service is always exceptional from the welcoming and leaving, cleaning staff, restaurant and general happiness of the staff in daily encounters. We love it here. The king suite we had for our anniversary weekend was lovely, reasonably priced, full of all the special amenities that one would expect of a higher priced room. Cleaning done efficiently on a day-by-day basis. Gorgeous view of the ocean from the bedroom and living area. Only a few minutes out of Tofino. Wonderful experience. A pleasure to return to as often as we can.

The general presentation of the rooms and hotel main building are very good. The beach location is great and only a short drive to Tofino town, 30 minutes to Ucluelet. On the downside the restaurant evening meal was poor to very poor. Eat out! there are plenty of good eating spots in Tofino

Wonderful place to stay, but a bit pricey. Staff were extremely courteous and helpful. This is a great place to stay, but they could offer better discount during the off-season. Would consider staying there again.

The hotel was nicely located near the beach giving us a beautiful view. Lovely patio off our ground floor room. Excellent staff provided great service. Parking was very convenient for loading and unloading our vehicle.

My husband confirmed our room would have a fireplace when we booked our three day stay a few months ago. We tried to turn on the gas fireplace on the first night but it would not work. The following morning we spoke to the front desk to let them know. We were told that none of the fireplaces were working as they had made a corporate decision a while ago to discontinue their use. They offered no apology or compensation of any kind. And they are still listing fireplaces as an option on their website!! Lastly, the dining room was a major disappointment. It's such a shame as the location is fabulous!

love it and loved the feel there. Very close to the ocean and long beach but not the wide open ocean. We would recommend this hotel and the staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were clean. Fire place didn't turn on unless heat in room was a certain temp. so it was there just for looks.

This is a great location. Quiet generally I'm sure. Some party people on the beach last night. Room is clean Insuite coffee. Nice staff. They could not get us a taxi. So be prepared to stay local if you don't want to drive. Be sure to ask for a fireplace.

We spent two nights at the Tin Wis and would definitely go back. The staff were outstanding, very helpful and friendly. The view from our room was amazing especially at sunset. The Bistro's food was so good. I had an amazing Venison Stew,

We have been coming to Tofino for over 40 years and have always stayed at the Tin Wis since it opened. The staff are friendly, the rooms clean, the food great and then of course there is the beach and the view! Each time we come there have been small improvements to the buildings and the gardens. The beachfront snack shack is a nice addition. See you next year!

Without a doubt the best resort experience we have ever had. Not only was the scenery out of this world, the accommodations and staff were exceptional. We have travelled all over the world and have found our favourite place right here at home on Canada's west coast.

The location of the hotel is magical, and the service was friendly and helpful. The view from my room was stunning and the bed was very comfortable. I was disappointed by the mediocre decor, especially in the bathroom. To walk from a wilderness paradise into a dim fluorescently lit bathroom with generic tiles and a cheap tub took some luster off of the experience. Otherwise the room was quiet and clean.

Second time staying at this hotel. Perfect beach. Wonderful rooms - all facing the perfect beach. Great staff. Very tidy grounds. Restaurant is beautifully located on the grounds, but restaurant service and value is probably the only weak spot, in otherwise a fantastic facility. Next time will try the food shack on the beach - the aromas from there were very inviting. Will return for sure!

We arrived around 6pm after a long journey and the hotel reception staff told us that we were just in time for a lovely sunset - they weren't wrong! It's a fantastic location set on MacKenzie beach which is perfect! The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and helpful and each room has a wonderful view of the beach. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant which was great and we also ate from the beachside barbecue which was delicious!

The location is fabulous. If you want to be sure of a decent night's sleep then avoid the rooms opposite the “Conference facility”. We were treated to the noise of a rock band the first night and a wedding disco the night after. Most of the staff were helpful but the bistro was chaotic, Basil Fawlty could have managed it more efficiently!

All rooms look out to the bay and the views were wonderful, but it was just a basic Best Western. Not much ambiance or style for $300 a night. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise and the service was good. Hot tubs were nice, but nothing special. However, they tried to make the spa room look nice.

This hotel offers all rooms with stunning sea views and is set in pretty ornamental gardens. The rooms are spacious and well looked after and have a large balcony to enjoy the scenery. The shared spaces are well designed and inviting. Breakfast was a lovely meal which was well presented and tasty. Staff were helpful, friendly and tried to make our stay as memorable as possible.

We came to Tofino for the bear watching and despite a rain forecast had 2 very pleasant nearly dry days. The Tin Wis is in an idyllic location and all the rooms have a view over Mackenzie Beach and the first evening we were able to sit and watch the sun go down. Rooms are comfortable. The food at the hotel is very good and we were still able to get a full breakfast when we got back from the Bears at 11am. The service is a little quirky at times but does not detract from the overall experience. Also we had to leave early to catch the ferry back to West Vancouver but exchanged our breakfast vouchers for an excellent packed breakfast. A nice place to stay.

For the price we paid, over $300 per night, I'd expect more. The room was small and the same as any $100/nt hotel, except the bathroom is smaller. They don't change the glasses or mugs in the room. I wonder if they just rinsed them and put them back? Everyday something basic - bath mat, drinking glasses, etc. - was missing. The view of the beach is great and the beds were comfy. Surprisingly, the curtains actually kept the light out so the room was truly dark at night - thanks for that!

Great place. Comfortable beds and pillows. Flat screen TV. WIFI. Mini fridge. Plush towels. Patio doors to grass and view of the beach. Walking distance to beach. Restaurant. Close to town. Friendly staff.

You can't help but try to soak in the view, even when it's foggy it's beautiful. I was there for a small meeting and the front desk staff, cleaning staff, and meeting staff were all very helpful. Room was clean, and loved that it had a bar fridge and microwave. Would love to see maybe some individual microwave popcorn for sale somewhere on site. Other than that it was great. the meeting room was beautiful with all the art work.

room rate charged was not acceptable. we got a much lesser room than requested and expected as from previous visits. Having booked the reservation through a agency made the reconciliation very complicated. Next time must book directly with front desk only.

Went to this place after a nice walk on the beach, beautiful restaurant too bad the food wasn't! All the offered was buffet, terrible terrible! 28$ pp and not worth 8$! The theme was west coast Indian but where was the smoked fish? The shrimp? The food the west coast is famous for? The hotel was gorgoeus I just wish the food was as well!

The location of this hotel is fantastic, looking out across a bay, with sandy beaches yards from your doors. Unique architecture which is at one with the environment. Breakfast choice is incredible, and a very high standard as was the evening menu. Great facilities and superb location for families who love to spend time active on the beach. High standards and quiet for those who want to get away and get a feel of First Nation hospitality.

Great hotel. Private entrance. Quiet surroundings. And the beach - terrific access to the beach, which has clean sand and fun waves. Highly recommended place to stay for adults and for families with kids.

Good beds. Nice bathroom. Very clean. Beautiful view at the beach. Nice to be able to use bbq at the beach supplied by the hotel and the restaurant letting us use the cutlery ??. A very good place to stay in Tofino.

Location is great but i would try the long beach next time. Room was large and beds comphy. The sink tap had a huge leak as soon as we turned it. Breakfast selection and food was good but not the friendliest dining staff. Upon checkout my bill was quoted about 100 dollars more than the 350 we already were paying. No explanation given when I said that must be a mistake. Just a smile. Are you kidding me??? She corrected it and we left. The rooms for this price need updating in the kitchen with working appliances. The coffee maker was broken in addition to the tap.... Sorry but I expected more. Its pretty obvious that the 500 something I would have paid had i not spoken up with no explanation left me with a very bad impression.

We were there July 26th, and I left my wallet behind in the room as we checked out. While heading out to surf, I realized my mistake, called Tin Wis, and was assured my wallet had been found by staff, and was waiting for me, which it was when I went to pick it up! A huge relief that saved our day! Thanks so much Tin Wis! And supper the night before was fantastic, BTW, complete with a walk on the beach after!

The location on the beach is excellent. The view from the room was outstanding. From this point all goes down hill. The room is a normal $100 / $125 Best Western value. Location ... location seems to allow a 4 to 5 times mark-up. $500.00 per night sets an expectation level that was not met. The exterior balconies & elevators are dirty and truly require a little TLC. Room-Housekeeping was good. The staff are well trained and happy. Dinning room staff are not trained, not happy, do not work as a team, and the whole dinning experience is horrendous. I am pleased to see the employment of First Nation people, but please provide them with training. By 10.00 AM the breakfast area resembled a high school cafeteria, following a food fight. The breakfast is good, however, breakfast buffet is tucked into 90 degree corner creating mobility chaos. People like to graze, not stand in line. Dinner? Well, a 90 minute wait for two basic hamburgs is not acceptable. As a Canadian, I am embarrassed that we provide this level of hospitality We stayed Aug 12,13,14

A spectacular location, very restful and laid back resort , lovely flat beach for families to enjoy, kayakers , paddle boards, and casual atmosphere. One of the few beaches we believe you are allowed to have a fire on the beach at night, and what special place to watch a glorious sun set!

Our room was on the second floor... I thought it was going to be noisy but were were pleasantly surprised on how quiet... except for the bouncing little boy at 5 am. the view is perfect... but the front end staff are amazing. Very helpful and made us feel comfortable... even supplied firewood for the best beach campfire

the word is "waouh" when you discover that this hotel is located on the beach in front of the Pacific ocean. the view is unforgettable ! the room is small but clean. staff at the front desk very kind and helpful. restaurant offers you dinner "on the beach" you also have to possibility to make a BBQ on the beach. staff at the restaurant not awesome (not always very friendly and slow) but the place is so beautiful that we will come back anyway... for the location !

A very simple hotel but in a beautiful spot. Every room faces out to the pacific ocean and is only a very short walk from the beach. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. They were fitted with a fridge and microwave which is always useful. We would stay here again if ever in Tofino.

We stayed two nights here, in two different rooms (the hotel was fully booked). The location is idyllic, one of the most incredible views from a hotel room ever. Both rooms were on the 3rd floor, giving us stunning views of the beach. The first night we had a suite, which was the last word in luxury. The huge tub in the bathroom, with a view over the ocean, was amazing. Our balcony ran along both the bedroom and the lounge and there was lots of room to spread out, sit back and relax and soak up the view. We ate in the restaurant; I am surprised by the very negative reviews of this as we ate there both nights and for breakfast and ate well. Yes, the wait staff could do with an experienced maitre d' to oversee them and get them working more efficiently (one lad only seemed to be topping up water glasses and in spite of that being his sole job, he wasn't thoroughly checking tables and I had to ask our waiter twice for more water). The food was excellent though and our whole experience at this paradise on earth will live long in the memory, that's for sure.

This was literally the only available room at peak season, and now I understand why. A physically gorgeous spot, but the hotel has the quality one would expect of a $100 room, at almost five times that rate. Everything is cheap, the bed uncomfortable, the staff disinterested, the "free" breakfast worth its price. Don't be like us: plan ahead and stay in any of the many much better hotels in Tofino.

Every room at this hotel has a sea view and are literally yards from the Pacific. A quirky room with cooker, microwave, fridge and open fire. There was a continual wood smoke smell which is not particularly wanted in mid-summer, but the room was a great size, very comfortable and we always had the windows open when we were in the room. Staff were really pleasant and helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Tin Wis Resort and were immediately wowed by the views from our balcony of the sea and beach - only a few paces from the rooms. A comfortable and clean room with plenty of space to put suitcases. Coffee facilities, a fridge, a microwave - all the amenities you'd expect to have. Sadly the restaurant did not leave us as impressed. Although it does offer yet more spectacular views, the service is slow and lacking professionalism. As a lot of other reviewers have mentioned it is also very expensive for what you get. We hope to visit the Tin Wis Resort again but hope the restaurant is better next time.

I'm a Toronto city girl who doesn't love the outdoors, and this suite was perfect. It was clean, everything was easy, and the staff was excellent. The GM himself woke up early to make sure that I had a lift to the airport. Not sure it was worth the price point , one of the two wash machines was "out of service" so there was constantly a battle to use the laundry facilities, but they provided laundry supplies at reception which was nice. A safe bet for people looking for a more luxurious stay in Tofino.

In the middle of our stay here and the hotel is good. Rooms comfortable and have lovely sea view. Visited restaurant last night and ended up leaving after 30 mins of waiting when there were plenty of empty tables yet to be cleared. Staff seemed totally out of their depth and chaotic. To be fair to the receptionist when we left she gave us a discount voucher for a future visit but we'd have to be pretty desperate to go back there. Understand that temporary staff shortages can happen but for the high price we're paying to stay here, it's just not acceptable.

I didn't know what to expect from Tofino & the hotel and I was blown away by both. The Tin Wis is in a great location, with stunning beach views, spacious low-rise rooms, all with balconies and it makes for the most relaxing stay in one of the most beautiful places in the world. It's just a minute's walk to the wide beach, there's a barbecue area, the rooms have a microwave and probably the best in-room coffee I 've had (Marleys). There's also the same complimentary coffee available in the foyer, alongside fruit and very tasty cookies. We ate in the bistro in the evening, good food and the same fantastic views, catching great sunsets, the service was a little disorganised I thought, but that's a minor thing. Thoroughly loved staying here, we'll return one day!

This is Tofino at its best. Location can't be beat. All rooms are designed to provide a great view of the stunning beach scape. Not a new facility, but kept clean and definitely comfortable. Good service... Hotel restaurant I found was quite pricey. Hard to find any full meal under $20. Good food... But not realistically priced.

We visited the Bistro at Best Western Tin Wis Resort near Tofino on Tuesday evening, August 9th 2016. The sign near the road advertises with a Bistro on the premises, but it is actually an expensive restaurant. So, if you are looking for a more casual coffee house or something like that, do not go here. We liked the look of the restaurant and the premises outside, so we thought : let's have dinner here, and not only coffee and a desert as we initially planned. Like other reviewers already mentioned, the food simply is not worth the money. We payed 60 dollars (incl. tax) for a thin pizza like dish (what was that?), a wild salmon dish, drinks and 1 desert. The salmon was OK, but there was too little food along with it, like vegetables and rice; no choice of potatoes, fries, etc. was offered as with less expensive dishes; we payed 28 dollars excl. tax for the salmon dish. The desert, a creme brulee, came way too late, after almost 30 minutes, and was just something from the freezer, heated up poorly, probably in the microwave. We payed 9 dollars for it. The only reason resorts/hotels/restaurants can get away with bad quality food and service is because there are enough one time customers to stay in business. Apart from the above mentioned points, other visitors of the restaurant did not seem to feel comfortable, there was quite a stuffy admosphere. This restaurant is simply poorly run, and it shows. The part of the restaurant that actually looked like a sort of Bistro was completely empty; no customers (it was dinner time). There was a heap of cushions lying around in this area which made it look cheap and uninviting. Tin Wis, Offer a real, less expensive Bistro menu in this part of the restaurant, and it would attrackt more customers. We are locals and were looking for a place to visit more regularly, but this restaurant will not be that place, unfortunately.

Stunning view out of the room. All the rooms face the beach so each room has a fantastic view. The room was clean. The beds were on the small side - definitely not queen size. The sliding doors onto the balcony could do with an oil - conscious of opening late at night. We booked a table at the bistro restaurant for 8.30pm when we arrived at about 5.30pm. Unfortunately they hadn't made the table up for us when we got there at 8.30pm so we had to wait 15 mins whilst they cleaned one up and re set it. The food was nice but it didn't all come out at once and my wife and son had to wait at least 10 minutes whilst the rest of us ate our dinner. We ordered deserts which were really nice but got the impression they wanted us to leave when they started opening all the external doors making it really cold in the restaurant and then the waitresses and kitchen staff were eating food from the kitchen and sat with their bags at the bar which made us feel a little uncomfortable.

It's a typical Best Western and I am a big BW fan but the only thing I did not like was the pillows....it's time to change them out! Now the Positives....the staff are super friendly! The ocean view from out room was absolutely breath taking! This place alone is an experience in itself.....for the first time ever I feel absolutely relaxed!!!!!

Tofino is the definition of heaven on earth. This hotel and the view from the rooms were exceptional. I would defintely recommend it to anyone. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant prices were very modest with very good wines at about $30 per bottle and entrees priced in the $20 range. All in all, very good value considering where you are. It is the end of the road!

This was the second hotel we stayed at while in Tofino. I'm happy we decided to stay in two separate hotels to experience more of the area. We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The rooms are pretty standard. Each room has a balcony overlooking the water; an amazing view to wake up to every morning. Rooms were very clean, and the amenities were good. We made use of the hot tub while we were there. We found it surprising that the rooms were not loud, despite all the balconies - a welcome surprise! The beach is absolutely gorgeous. We took several strolls looking for tide pools. Spotted some starfish, eagles, a jelly fish, etc. We were VERY lucky on the last evening there, we were sitting on the balcony watching the sunset and we spotted a whale! We were told it's rare and they don't normally come so close to shore - but this made our entire trip. Phenomenal way to end our fantastic vacation! The restaurant is okay, the food is good, the service was very quick, no complaints. It looked like they were going to open a patio soon. For breakfasts they offer 20% off I think, which is an added bonus considering the room rates. Overall it was an enjoyable stay. I'd probably stay again. While you're in the area – you must eat at Tacofino. We went to The Wolf and the Fog for dinner one night - the food there was incredible.

It's quite expensive... But to be fair, it's Tofino. Everything in moderation is expensive. We're not wealthy, but we felt it was worth the 500.00 and some dollars..!! We had a hotel room on ground level with beach front access, it also happened to be accessible to someone in a wheelchair. The washroom doors and door to the beach were Fairly larger for easier access.. In and out of rooms. No complaints what so ever.. The hotel is owned by aboriginal people on he area.. So if you provide your treaty card, they will reduce tax, but you have to purchase it through the hotel or make your status aware to the website you are purchasing or reserving that you are status. Because the hotel is based on the Pacific Ocean, it's breezy and a bit chilly at night. No air conditioning in the hotel rooms. Large condo style windows facing the ocean, and small sitting area outside your hotel room. Beds are so comfortable. But for us.. The best part was the beach... It's our first time to the ocean, and at night.. (It was a Friday) people sat down at the beach and there were several people around fires. Loved the vibes. We shared stories with people we met on the beach. The hotel is kid friendly. And pet friendly.we seen dogs frolicking on the beach... We were very very impressed. Jade helped us at the front... was very, very helpful and professional. Think he needs a raise.. ???????????? we will definetly be coming back if the chance presents itself. Thank you so much. ??

The only room left was the Suite but as we needed somewhere to stay in Tofino so we paid the extra. This was fabulous but even the standard rooms all have sea views and large comfortable beds. This side of Vancouver island is expensive but the hotel restaurant was not excessive in our opinion and the chef was very good. The beach is beautiful and you have direct access. There are better surfing beaches further down as there are rocks and rips here. The staff are a bit hit and miss. Some were excellent but others not as proactive. Suspect they employ First Nation British Columbians and you have to accept you are long way (3-4 hours just from ferry) from the mainland. Going to sleep hearing the ocean is fantastic and did I mention the suites have a hot tub! Travelling across Vancouver island is so slow if you are used to British driving but this is a good base for the rainforest and walking the beaches. Tofino is quite hippy and laid back and there are lots of trips to see bears. Jamies Whaling is brilliant for the bear trip, informative and relaxed. Went to Uclelet which is more residential. The Black Rock is a modern spa hotel, more expensive and does not have direct beach access.

This hotel/motel was booked for us by our travel agent and glad really that we were only there for two nights although the location was excellent and a first for my wife and daughter to be on a beach so close to the Pacific Ocean for the first time. What really annoyed me was that we were surrounded each day by young people on surf boards and because of the hotel parking being so close to the surf shop we were surrounded by surfers. The hotel itself is in a good location close to Tofino (if you are not a surfer) and our room was pretty basic for a disabled room although none of us are disabled !!!! Could not understand why we had been booked into a disabled room at all but we were not allowed to use the disabled parking space adjacent to the room which seemed a bit odd. The room itself was clean but not brilliant and had no safe and no free water but did manage to have free wi-fi. If you are a surfer then this hotel is for you but if not then I would chose another location in Tofino as I am sure there are others that cater for Brits on holiday on Vancouver Island. The only one good thing about the hotel is how close you are to the beach and the Pacific Ocean and Tofino itself.

Stayed for two nights in a king room located on second floor. Rooms are rustic but equipped with everything you need. View is amazing and it was nice to sleep with the patio door open at night, listening to the waves. The service we received was good. At $330/ night we have stayed at way more luxurious places but prices tend to be steep all over in Tofino.

The person in the front desk, specifically named Lee was not as friendly as others, he is not willing to help us at all and just showed nothing but bad attitude. Seems not interested with the guests concern at all...

The resort is right on the beach. It is a great place to explore the beach when the tide rolls out. We stayed in the executive suite on the third floor. The view was amazing. We kept the door open during the night to hear the ocean. The bed was so comfortable. We didn't use the kitchen but that option is there if you don't want to eat out. It is minutes to downtown Tofino.

Fab room opened onto a garden with views of the beach. Can't get very far without a car so if you like to walk the beach will have to do. Loved it here and will definitely return. Clean and modern. Only annoyance was the room key kept wiping and had to be reprogrammed on a daily basis

The property was situated overlooking a protected beach and the rooms were clean and well appointed. We experienced problems with the key cards and the free wi-fi both of which were sorted out after a few visits to the reception area. The hot tub situated within the hotel seemed popular but more could have been made of the views.

A great place to relax with the family, with a quiet sandy beach, rock pools and plenty of nature nearby. Tofino is a 3 to 4 hour drive from the ferry at Nainamo, through a picturesque winding route that cuts across Vancouver Island. The hotel is comfortable without being deluxe. Check-in is a bit slow but polite. A great personal touch comes from two of the staff who cleaned the room, leaving cheerful greeting and other messages.

Homey but spectacular setting. If you don't have kids ask for a second or third floor room. Unique setting. Our second time staying there....it is an ideal place to stay for several days and to use as a home base for exploring Tofino and environs.

Large room with awesome view. Nice balconies for sitting, grills for cooking and a wonderful beach for exploring. While we were there, one washer was broken and it was inconvenient for a such a large property to only have one other working washer (with the requirement for multiple night bookings most people seemed to have the need to use laundry facilities.) The Staff was mostly helpful and I would definitely return to this property.

This is a good hotel, the staff were welcoming and friendly and although the buildings seem somewhat dated, the restaurant appears to be fairly new. We were in a separate building to the main hotel and the view from the balcony was magnificent, looking out to sea with all the islands and across the beach. The room was large and very clean and comfortable and with a welcoming tray of cold meats, cheese and crackers in the fridge. Every day we returned to a note from housekeeping hoping we had enjoyed our day. After a day out you can have an enjoyable walk along the beach before dinner and watch the tide coming in. The slight downsides are that there is no air-con but the sea breeze makes up for that, there was a connecting door to the next room and no complimentary breakfast. These slight irritations aside it is still a great place to stay and ideally situated for Tofino, different beach areas and Ucluelet

This Best Western is right on Mackenzie Beach in Tofino. They have several pet-friendly rooms, and these are popular with dog owners. In April, when we visited, the prices were reasonable, and we really enjoyed the views of the water and the direct access to the beach. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the bathroom well laid out. There is some kind of First Nations affiliation with the hotel (they may own it), and there is considerable tribal painting and woodwork around the hotel. We did not have lunch or dinner in the restaurant, but did eat breakfast there. The breakfast was good, but pricier than a similar breakfast would have been in town, which is only a couple of minutes drive away. There are fancier establishments nearby, but this is the best value in the mid-range. And in high season, it may be fairly pricey.

As part of our west coast experience I took my 2 sisters to this hotel for a one night stay. I had previously used it with my daughter and knew what to expect. We had a ground floor suite with kitchenette and separate bedroom. All rooms have a view of and easy walk out to MacKenzie Beach. Clean room, great location on the Pacific Rim highway close to Tofino. We used the restaurant for dinner when we arrived and also had breakfast there the next morning. Great breakfast, but check the offerings for dinner since it is a bit on the expensive side. We had a ton of fun, and were very pleased with the prompt service.

Loved the location. The view was gorgeous. The beach is full of tidal pools and great for swimming. There was a lot to love about this place. Dogs were able to run free. The hotel itself is dated. There is no AC which normally wouldn't be an issue but this was a hot summer and we had a room overlooking the beach but there's no cross draft so you had to open your door to get it. It did get cool at night but there is a large campground right next to the hotel and by dinner time you had to shut your windows or your room was full of smoke from multiple campfires. So, fabulous grounds, but not a great place to stay.

This hotel is in a beautiful location, fronting a long gently shelving sandy beach framed by wooded headlands, with small island outcrops completing the scene. Absolutely perfect for a relaxing time. Behind the beach, the hotel has pleasant (mainly lawned) grounds, and provides picnic tables, barbecue pits, and a small playground; whilst a paddle board school is also on site. This beach does not appear to be impacted by the big roller waves for which most of this coastline is popular. The hotel is built as a couple of two storey motel style accommodation blocks flanking a central airy reception and restaurant area. Internally the rooms are all fairly standard, and whilst clean and tidy could probably do with a refresh. The bedroom area is spacious, with two comfortable queen beds - it was lovely to fall asleep to the sound of the sea. The bathroom is relatively small, having sacrificed some space for a small kitchenette type area with a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. All have a patio/balcony with sea views, although on the balcony this was annoyingly partly obscured by a thick wooden safety rail running across the front, just at seated eye level. We were initially checked in to the block housing units numbered 301-310 and 401-410 but quickly realised that the balconies on this side receive very little sun. As we were staying 3 nights we moved to the block running parallel to the beach, which was much better. Despite its wonderful location the hotel is not without issues. The first of these will not be a problem if you have a car, as the hotel is about 3 kms out of town which, whilst walkable, becomes a chore after just one or two trips. There is a shuttle bus service run by the hotel, but in our experience this was a bit hit and miss - we had to chase up a driver more than once. However they did shuttle us to the local airport when we left, which was a great help. There is a bike hire place about 500 yards to the right along the main road - $30 for 4 hours. There is also a small shop and a coffee shop and shack style eatery here. We eat breakfast in the hotel each morning (charged separately) and it was fine. However we decided to have our evening meal in the dining room on the last of our 3 evenings and I encountered something entirely new to me. Having ordered, and in the middle of eating our first course, the waitress brought our main course along. When I asked for it to be taken away until we had finished the first course, she reacted as if this was an unheard of request, let alone good practice. We then had an entirely pleasant conversation about how the main course might be kept warm until we were ready for it. Bizarre! We paid around £105 (inc taxes) per night (room only) here and I have to say that at that price it was a bit of a bargain. We could have made more of our stay, and avoided some of the difficulties, if we had our own transport. I suspect that those arriving with a car will make much more of their stay. Lesson learned and passed on here.

The location of this hotel is amazing. But high season is $400/night for cheap 2 star room. The rooms leave much to be desired. Smells. The design of the rooms are odd...although they are ocean front, they are angled away from it so you miss out on the view. Even the head of the bed is towards the ocean so what you face the lodge on land. Frustrating. There are pictures of scary masks facing the bed at two angles looking directly at you-creepy. Bathroom, tiny, dinghy and smelly Carpet old, dark Old dark yellowish/ beige paint The size of the room is good, there is a sofa, but awkward placement Good size balcony with glass The beach and grass is huge and spectacular view No early check inn, cannot get in before 4pm-not even 3:30. Because its Tofino and books up fast, not a lot of options. Will not stay here again. If you can opt for Long Beach resort which is clean and amazing for close to same cost or Wik/ inn-luxury. Plan your stay around the hotel because it will make an enormous difference. For what it takes to get there. Nothing like reading in your clean cozy room watching the waves. Worth the extra $$. For what they charge they could invest in a major reno. They only made sure the lobby and grounds look good. The rest is neglected.

Stayed last week and had a wonderful room with a view on the third floor. Yes, there is an elevator. Lacey at the front desk was welcoming and professional. Our room was large with a kitchenette and we had a direct view of the beach. There is no air conditioning but it is not needed. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was as very good and the service was efficient. Good location minutes from downtown Tofino Many great walks on the beach and would not hesitate to go back.

Awesome location. Great access to shoreline. Excellent rooms. Clean. No issues at all. Restaurant great for family. We stayed with our two teenage sons aged 14 and 15. They enjoyed it a lot. Did stand up paddle boarding and many beach walks. Restaurant has a good menu with plenty of options for audiotape and children. Close access to Tofino itself. Quaint town/village. Lovely stay. Would stay again if I visit the area.

Beach view. Staff were very nice and tried to accommodate. Limited resources. Had requested folding lounge chairs to sit on the beach and they didn'have. Had 2 hot tubs which was great as someone was in one when I arrived in the room. Midway between the town and great hiking trails.

We came on a Wednesday and stayed through till Saturday (Canada day being on the Friday). Don't get me wrong the beaches are gorgeous there and if you love surfing or any water activity this is the way to go. However after staying at Tin Wis - I recommend looking for an Air B&B. This place was SO overpriced for what you get. We had an ocean-view room and the ocean as I said is beautiful. The rooms were basic and I was traveling with a baby. Asked for a crib - and upon entering the room no crib. So we asked for one - it turned out to be a play pen, and the workers didn't even know how to install it. It took two of them to kind of figure it out till they asked me to do because I have a kid. Um.... No?! I am on holidays figure this out yourself. On-top of this the front desk people (guest services, greeters, whatever you want to call them were horrible). The girl who checked us in sent us on a wild goose chase for our room telling us to go in a different direction. When we asked for restaurant recommendations they couldn't give any, and when I asked for Canada Day things to do or any events - the one guy said 'I don't know, go into town and look'. It was pathetic. The girl looked horrendous for being a greeter. Dirty uniform, hair a mess, and was super rude. The guy - ditto. Looked more professional but his attitude wow! You should know what's happening in your town and places to eat that guest may like. Its called customer service for a reason. The restaurant in at Tin Wis was so over priced and the food was sub-par. Definitely not worth it by any means. Just go into town and you'll have a much better time. So other then the beach being beautiful - the hotel was a complete joke. Overpriced, horrible staff, not good service, just a bad place to be.

The sheets are white and everything looked clean. Is not a pretentious hotel; however it has a gorgeous location and view. The bathroom is relatively new and all was neat when we arrived. I definitely recommend it, as a best value with comfort in town

Stayed here for Canada day weekend & while I can appreciate that prices go up for a busy weekend, what we paid was extortionate. We actually booked through TripAdvisor and made the mistake of booking before realising that the price was not the total for two nights (as all the other listings were!!! Thanks TripAdvisor!) but for each night! So annoyed at ourselves. The per night price was even expensive when we thought it was for two nights!!! We won't be making that mistake again. In any case, the hotel. It is very hard to identify as a best western and so we were confused coming there as to whether we were in the right place. The location is nice, right on the beach but a little far for a walk into town. The room was so basic though, nothing to warrant the extortionate price we paid. It looks like (is) a motel! Furthermore the staff at breakfast were so bad and left us waiting for way too long for everything. They gave us breakfast vouchers that made it seem like they were giving us a good deal, but the offerings were just a little too mean - no choice of how to cook the eggs, no options on the "healthy" breakfast etc. Piss poor in my opinion. Would not go back.

Was definitely not worth the expense of what we paid for it. Pretty basic rooms and decor pretty dated. The scenery was nice. The staff at breakfast were not attentive and we were left to wait for far too long.

My Husband and I had a wedding to attend at the Botanical Gardens in Tofino, so the Tin Wis Resort was the logical choice, as it is within walking distance of the gardens. We visited other resorts in the area and were very happy with our choice. Great location on the beach with a view of the ocean from every room. So relaxing to sit out on the balcony with our favourite drink or take a walk along the beach. Not all resorts have restaurants, so this was another plus for the Tin Wis. We didn't have the opportunity to eat dinner there, but the breakfasts were fantastic and the service was great. The veggie omelet is highly recommended. The rooms were well maintained, although, the first morning, my room cleaning request (as per the card left in the room) was ignored. The dirty towels were removed, but not replaced and the light bulb in the bathroom wasn't replaced. The rooms could use a bit of updating as well. I couldn't figure out what the black floor was....it almost looked like driveway sealer had been applied over ceramic tile? The grounds are very well maintained and every employee we came in contact with was very friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

This was our 4th stay at the TIn Wis since 2006 and things just get better. The hotel is run by the local First Nations community under the Best Western franchise and they have continually developed and improved the site over the years. Every room has an ocean view and it is stunning especially on a sunny, cloudless day and a walk along McKenzie beach is very therapeutic. The rooms are nicely maintained and have coffee/tea making facilities and the all important mini-fridge. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean with a glass (or two) of BC white wine is my favourite pastime. There is a self serve launderette on site which is useful for long term travellers. The whole staff from reception down to housekeeping are wonderfully welcoming, helpful and efficient. The restaurant, has recently been renovated and the breakfast and dinner choices are very favourable. The cooking is superb with local ingredients where possible. This was probably our last visit to Tofino and we shall treasure our memories at the Tin Wis forever

This is a nice hotel with most of the amenities. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the ocean. Well appointed but a bit over priced. It had the look that some folks were not taking care of the little things, especially the walkways to your room.

Beautiful location overlooking beach and islands on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Relaxing atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. close to Tofino from where a number of site seeing tours can be undertaken from Whale watching to walks on an uninhabited island.

Spent a weekend at this hotel. Had stayed before 20 years ago. The location can't be beat. Right on MacKenzie Beach. Super quiet location. No traffic noise. Only a couple of other resorts in the area, so beach was pretty secluded and sheltered. Every room faces the water with either a balcony or patio. We had a kitchenette, but found out the next morning the fridge was not working, so lost all our food. Housekeeping was very quick to respond when we asked for extra pillows and blankets. On-site restaurant had windows on three sides, so terrific views. Lots of dinner choices including fresh seafood, but server did not tell us of grilled halibut, which I would have ordered had I known it was available. Had breakfast buffet on our last morning, but was disappointed no fruit and limited veggies offered. Wifi signal was not very strong.

We spent three nights at the Tin Wis and enjoyed our stay. We were in a first floor room in an adjacent but separate accommodation block, overlooking the sea. The bed and bedding were supremely comfortable. The room was spotlessly clean and had a small fridge, a microwave, a coffee maker and a kettle. We also had a balcony with chairs and there was a seating area in the room itself. Wifi was free. There was a much appreciated laundry room downstairs. The first wee box of washing powder was free, obtained from reception. Another of the downstairs rooms had a soft drinks vending machine and an ice maker. There were gas BBQs for guest use. And a gym! Staff were welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed the wee notes the cleaning ladies left us each day. The restaurant served good food. Breakfast portions were especially generous. Tin Wis, though a Best Western branded establishment, is owned and run by First Nation people. There is an attached business offering paddle boarding tuition. Wildlife, especially the avian variety, abounds. We saw Ospreys, bald eagles and - highlight of my visit, a humming bird. Another first for us was the Tsunami warning information! I'm pretty sure this is a very rare occurrence. Tofino is a very relaxing place and we'd happily stay at the Tin Wis again.

If you want the ,"wow", factor of MacKenzie Beach, look no further. Great location for a short drive to the lovely hamlet of,Tofino, Long Beach and others. The finer details of Tin Wis need to be polished up. Paint chips along landings, rooms a little dated. If your looking for a place to eat, you would be well advised to eat off site. The Tin Wis restaurant was average at best. Service was very poor and value for money was best spent elsewhere. Sorry folks.

It is not possible to beat the view from your room and access to a lovely Pacific Ocean beach. The international staff including many First Nations people enrich the experience. The food in the restaurant is very good. Can't wait to go back.

Our group was very pleasantly surprised with our visit to the Tin Wis. The location and the rooms exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and the facility well maintained. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The view....stunning! The location is close to Tofino and provides easy access to the road for exploring the area. The restaurant is not an "excellent" but it is still very good and fairly reasonably priced with responsive staff.

This is a very nice resort. There seems to be an older part and a newer part. We were in the older part, ground floor, because we took our small dog. The location is incredible. We could lie in bed and look at the ocean and the beach. The beach there is spectacular but plan on wearing warmer clothing as even in summer it is rarely a sunbathing beach. Plan go for the scenery. The hotel was very clean, staff was very friendly, always smiling and acknowledging the guests. Check in was great. Grounds are kept up. It is off the main road so it is quiet, only the sound of the surf. The restaurant is very good. We ate at several places in Tofino but kept returning the the dining room at the hotel. Just an added note, it is fairly expensive to eat out in Tofino. No family style restaurants. In summary I recommend this hotel we will return.

Stayed here for 3 nights and were pleased with its location. The room overlooked a nice sandy beach and was convenient for both Tofino and walks in the national park (especially Long Beach). The room offered microwave, fridge, coffee maker and a kettle. This kitchen area was a little cramped as was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. There is an on-site bistro which we used one night but the meal was 'average' compared to some of the restaurants in Tofino.

amazing view, with very comfortable beds. Great service from all staff. Mackenzie beach is stunningly beautiful and Tin Wis fits in beautifully. Walks on the beach.....solving the worlds problems or yours is a must! It peaceful and the nature surrounding you calms the soul
