"Shambolic hotel with terrible customer service"
Mark H, 31 Juillet 2023

I booked the Sure Hotel by Best Western in Aberdeen via the booking.com website for Saturday the 24th of June 2023 as we were attending our first full family get together since before lockdown. On arrival at the hotel I was given the key by the receptionist and went up to my room. Imagine the surprise when I opened the door to find the bed covers in a mess, an open suitcase on the floor and somebody in the bathroom! I immediately closed the door and went back down to reception to let them know about this issue. The receptionist didn't really have a clue as to what was going on and just told me he was sorry but there weren't any other rooms. I asked him what he expected me to do as we were now stranded with nowhere to stay and told him to call his manager, which he eventually did. The manager ignored the multiple phone calls that he made so I suggested that he try other hotels within the chain. He tried the 2 other Best Western hotels in Aberdeen and was told that there were no rooms. I suggested that he contact the nearest hotel to arrange a room for us, a Premier Inn, which was just around the corner. He said he couldn't do that as he had no authority/knowledge of how to do that. Exasperated and dealing with an upset wife I then said to just give us a refund. He couldn't even do that so we left with nowhere to stay for the night and out of pocket. I then walked round to the Premier Inn and was able to secure a room at an additional cost. I took the receipt for this room round to the Sure Hotel and asked the receptionist to please hand it over to the manager along with my phone number and to get her to contact me on Monday when she was due back in as i expected them to pay for this room due to the massive inconvenience they had put us through. I waited until Wednesday (28/06) and as I had heard nothing from the hotel, contacted them and managed to get hold of the manager. She said that she'd been too busy to look into our issue but was aware of the receipt that I'd handed in and she would investigate it and get back to me later that day. I then waited until Friday before I called back after hearing nothing from them and she told me that she'd contacted booking.com to arrange my refund and had passed the receipt for the Premier Inn up to her manager as she couldn't authorise the payment. I then waited, once again with zero communication, until Monday (10/07) and called the hotel to find out what was going on. I was told that the manager had gone on holiday and no one else knew what was going on with my issue. At this point I decided to contact booking.com. They told me that no refund had been initiated by the hotel, however, they would take their own action to ensure that i get the refund but it may take a little while as they need to talk to the manager. After emailing Best western directly i received a reply, from a different manager, on 17th of July finally apologising and stating that i would definitely get my refund but refusing to give me any good will gesture towards the cost of the last minute hotel i had to book. It is now the 31st of July and I've still not received a refund, despite more promises and I am now at the stage of looking into legal action which i find unbelievable considering they've admitted fault!

"Clean and servicable"
Jane T, 20 Juin 2023

Clean room, comfortable bed, hot water (bit tempermental), fridge & extras including crisps and juice/water. Hotel doesn't have the best outlook and parking is limited to shopping area but a bonus is it's on main bus route, frequent services. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Didn't have breakfast this time as feel £6.95 is a lot to pay for a continental, which we can do ourselves - cooked breakfasts no longer an option since lockdown and feel hotel is looking a bit tired.

"Disgusting staff member and attitude!!"
U1498APam, 24 Mai 2023

Terrible!! Booked online, turn up at reception to then be told I had no booking, even though I had a confirmation number, due to it being a bank holiday I was told to phone the office in America, I asked the reception staff member if they could do it due to it clearly being a fault in there system and was told NO, I had to do it from my own device. America couldn't understand why the information wasn't passed to them, I was then suggested by the reception man to try somewhere else, I told him it's 3:30am in the morning and I have given my bank details for this so NO i won't go somewhere else, he also made rude comments to my partner suggesting she was “a bit on the side, etc etc” so unprofessional and was lucky I was on the phone when these were made! Eventually he decided to just give us a room, took myself and partner to it, room was freezing cold, there was a window that had been left open.. etc etc, ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES!! will never be back, and this staff member shouldn't be in this line of work… absolute creep!!

"Disappointing ! "
martinaaO2394KB, 20 Mai 2023

One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was to ensure secure car parking - whilst the hotel state that this is the case, the car park is actually by a bank of shops at the back of the hotel which has a Farm Foods, Papa John's & Chinese take away and has no security or guarantee that your vehicle will be safe during your stay. The room was basic, and no side lights worked so you could only have the main lights on. There was no thermostat in the room and the heating was uncomfortably high. There were several pigeons roosting directly outside the window (not just the room I was staying in but all along that side) and the mess outside the window was not pleasant, worst of all was the noise as they made noise most of the night and very early morning. Furniture was stained. There was a kitchen area and whilst there was no obligation to provide any breakfast food, it would have been preferable to packets of crisps.

"Accomodation for a theatre visit, not the best choice!"
Alan S, 11 Juin 2022

We bought an itison voucher for 2 nights with breakfast. On arrival, we were informed that there was no kitchen at the moment and it was a continental breakfast. The hotel is fine, clean and the room was adequate, we have stayed previously when it was the Summerhill and at that time we had a more spacious room. No complaints so far, but the continental breakfast was fine when we got it. First there was no milk for the cereal, which we needed to find a member of staff to replenish, next the coffee machine was empty, with the same task, next there was no bread for making toast. The member of staff made the excuse that she was very busy!

"Value for money stay."
Jeanette R, 09 Juin 2022

User friendly website and booking process with frequent informative emails in respect to upcoming stay. Although the hotel location was not particularly nice we did get free parking, a premium in Aberdeen, and this was reflected in the very reasonable room price. Staff were extremely friendly andwelcoming, and the receptionist,Lauren was fantastic with regards to helping with decorations for my pals 60th birthday. We were able to book a well equipped room for 3 adults. Room was very clean, comfortable and with some lovely touches such as complimentary branded freebies such as bottled water, Golden Wonder crisps, Border biscuits, and plenty of tea, coffee, milk and Cadburys hot chocolate. Beds were clean and comfortable, and plenty fresh towels available . A small leak behind the bathroom handbasin was attended to within 5 minutes of reporting it, excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and send thanks to the staff for all their hard work .

"Avoid."
Sycamore68, 20 Mai 2022

My wife and I were booked to stay for 2 nights bed and (continental) breakfast. Contrary to previous reviews I found the room and adjoining bathroom were spotless but my biggest issue was the traffic noise from the A944 dual carriageway which runs past the front of the hotel. This road is one of the busiest in Aberdeen and it's pretty constant. Even with the double glazing you can still hear the noise. With the window closed it meant the room temperature rose significantly resulting in bedding being discarded. It is also under the flight path to the airport so aircraft can be heard from around 6am. We had our continental breakfast which was excellent but decided we couldn't bear another night of torture so we cancelled the second night. There are far better and quieter places in Aberdeen to stay.

"Lovely clean hotel"
77lornak, 13 Mars 2022

What a lovely hotel for the money we paid. Now it may not look much from the outside but it certainly was welcoming and clean inside. Every staff member we came across was friendly and helpful. Very comfortable bed and a lovely welcome basket. Shower was so good We will definitely visit here again.

"Hotel outdated and basic"
mrsgunn1985, 18 Février 2022

We were due to attend a family function, arrived at hotel, was told no Cooked breakfast but said we got this when I booked, so got money back for that. Then goes to our room, opened door and room is badly flooded, water dripping down walls and a huge puddle on floor! Had to get moved to another hotel which was not ideal as we had 2 children to organise for the surprise party, management called round many hotels to get us in somewhere for the night, a but of a pain at last minute but eventually got a Premier inn and management paid towards this but still never got breakfast which takes the stress away in the morning with little ones.

"Won't be back"
202jennic, 31 Janvier 2022

We booked this hotel as it's close to the hospital, my aged mother had to be there for 10am and with Storm Corrie forecast, we figured best to drive through the day before and stay over. We were put into room 312 which was a suite with twin beds. As we were heading away from reception, a lady was complaining about her room being unclean (I see she has also written a review!). On arriving into our room it was plain that our room had not been cleaned. The beds were unmade, the floor had not been hoovered, the cushions were lying on the floor and the welcome hamper was pretty much empty. However, the bathroom had at least been cleaned, although the towels had not been changed. I returned to reception and requested clean linen and towels. The receptionist was very apologetic and offered to change them herself, but I said I would do it - she then had to visit about three different cupboards on different floors to get the various items - she also gave me a bag with crisps and water. Upon stripping the beds and remaking them I saw that I hadn't been given new mattress protectors. One of them was ok, but the other one had hairs and was dirty - back to reception, to be told that she didn't think they had spare ones as they were washed and reused??? I wasn't particularly happy with that, so she said she would try and contact housekeeping to find where they might be stored. In the end I was given a couple of extra normal sheets to use, as the only mattress protector she could find, although washed, appeared to be dirty so she wasn't happy giving it to me. The next issue was that Storm Corrie arrived. Which, obviously, was not something the hotel could have done anything about. However, there were some loose pieces of cladding which were being attacked by the wind and making a quite horrendous noise in addition to the general storm noise. So, not much sleep was had - I had to wake my mother at 6 as she had to have her breakfast eaten before 6.30am due to her hospital procedure. When I went to take my shower, the lever was not working as per the instructions (and appeared to be broken) although I was able to enjoy a decent shower. The shower screen however was broken, so the water escaped out into the bathroom. I reported the bathroom faults to the receptionist when checking out, whether they will be rectified, who knows! As we left the hotel, we looked up to where the room was and were fairly horrified to see that a large part of the cladding from above the room had been torn off in the storm. It's such a shame that the poor housekeeping and maintenance at this hotel has let down what was actually quite a nice room. The receptionist on duty when we arrived was really lovely too and I felt quite sorry for her having to cover for shoddy standards from her colleagues.

"3 rooms in 1 night."
imaac_, 30 Janvier 2022

Before I start, both receptionist were lovely and very apologetic. I booked myself into a double room due to work early hours the next morning. Upon arrival the room was insufficiently cleaned, hairs from previous guests on the bed and then delight my little stubbly ones and long curly ones in the sink, bath and toilet. Mentioned to receptionist and she was incredibly apologetic and got upgraded free of charge to a king size upstairs with a kitchenette, to my delight and the room appeared ideal for the night. An early night and awoken at 10pm to the wind for the storm, nothing unusually however the curtains were blowing wildly and the room was frozen. Turns out the window was broken, the handle was no longer there so there was no way of closing the window leaving a massive draft coming through. Tried to prop a towel up but it did very little to reluctantly have to go back downstairs and complain again, it was impossible to get back to sleep. So once again the only room they had available was a single bed small room, at this point anything would have done for a night sleep! So all in all, both the double and king rooms are a great size, avoid room 320 and make sure that the window has been fixed if you are allocated this room! And as for the cleaning standards, it seriously needs improvements… All in all, the receptionist team are incredible and tried their best considering none of which was their fault, but this is not a hotel I would recommend nor want to be staying in again….

"Comfortable night stay"
Treena1480, 30 Novembre 2021

I have stayed at the best Western hotel a few times now for work. It's a good location for my work. I always find the staff friendly. The rooms are clean, comfortable and warm. The shower is really good.

"Decent for price,"
Largy64, 16 Octobre 2021

If working awsy from home, perfect for you, kitchenette in room kettle, micro wave and fridge, hotel clean with good size bar and prices, right below hotel, 4 take aways 2 pizza places, chip shop and a chinese take away, farmfoods for easy microwave meals, theres also a convence store and a Polish shop, 100m round the corner a toby carvery buffet breakfast was lovely, myself and my wife had no complaints at all and we are away monthly, wouldnt say it was perfect but we had no complaints,

"Adequate"
castlefieldcanary, 11 Octobre 2021

Well the hotel most certainly is not dirty but could do with some tlc. The initial room I was allocated faced onto the main road was next to the lift and had the noisiest fridge ever. However the following morning I spoke to the receptionist who was lovely and without any additional cost was re allocated a room. It was very acceptable but the shower room was exceedingly small but the shower itself was lovely. Also be,aware the hotel is on the flight path for the airport. Just make sure u ask for a quiet room.

"A bit dated property but very nice staffs made it up for the shortfall."
ADTravelerUae, 07 Octobre 2021

I syed here in a studio with kitchenette in September 2021 while i went to drop my son for his 1st year Uni. The property need some makeover to improve some functional aspect like providing some towel rack in the toilet, well stuffed kitchenette, etc. staffes were excellent and caring. Few eateries and grocery shop is just next to the building. A Tesco Superstore is a 15 min walk. Overall a good value for money, especially for longer stays

"Stay away Very bad hotel"
bill7231, 01 Septembre 2021

We stayed in this hotel two year ago and it was lovely so decided to go back for four day, but unfortunately I had got cut it short. I have never stayed in a dirty hotel in all my life the room and bathroom was dirty and has not been cleaned. Then when we checked in we got told there no cooked breakfast you would get a bag with a bottle off water and warm water n apple. And in the room there was no milk or anything in the basket. Put it this way if it was in four in a bed program it would not win. If I had know that when we booked the hotel about the food and no kitchen I would off gone. After driving 8 hours all we wanted was a cup off coffee and something to eat and we could not get that we had to go out and get something. I have never felt so dirty in myself.

"Lovely leisurely stay"
DB9WCK, 26 Août 2021

Lovely hotel and staff most pleasant especially Monica whose help and thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. The rooms are exceptionally clean, beds comfortable. Due to COVID restrictions food was not served but a satisfactory continual breakfast was supplied. Will retain.

"Do not recommend"
pauldE1173QP, 21 Juillet 2021

After a 14 hour drive to this place we were put into a room we didn't book as they give the room we reserved to another couple, being tired we thought we could sort it next morning. Outside the room roadworks continued until 3am so no sleep, speaking to lady on main reception telling her this was our honeymoon she informed us to move rooms was gonna cost another£70 plus the breakfast which we also paid for was just an apple and yoghurt. The staff was not going to help our situation or even comprise. Their carpark is used by local shoppers and delivery vehicles so not even that is safe. This is the Worse hotel I've been in and will NEVER use it again. Would give a zero star but won't allow.

"Very disappointed"
Resort487191, 23 Mai 2021

The Sure hotel is not up to Great Western hotel standards badly needing a deep clean and painted the room was very cold and draughty toilet not nice in any way We were not informed when booking that they did not have cooked food available and the continental breakfast would be left on a table in reception in a paper bag it was terrible the croissant was not fresh there was no yogurt no fresh coffee's or cereal we were booked in for two nights but had to leave after the first night really bad

"Not what we expected"
FarAway160401, 04 Mai 2021

Having read the previous reviews we were quite positive about this hotel, However the lack of breakfast and having to ask for the extra's in our package let it down. (Bubbles & Chocolates) A carton of juice, a small prepacked croissant with a jam portion and an Alpen Bar with a plastic knife and teaspoon in a brown carrier bag isn't the breakfast you'd expect in any hotel. The room was ok nothing special .

"Horrible experience "
pjas1969, 12 Décembre 2020

I have stayed in many hotels during my current job. I am not precious, nor do I have exacting / unreasonable standards. However, from the moment I arrived at the unsecured, shared carpark, my heart began to sink. It continued its downward trajectory, when I learned that the restaurant was not available (omitted when I called prior to booking), and that the breakfast was a 'grab n go' variety. The room was a decent size, with a fridge, microwave and kitchen sink. However, some bulbs were broken and those that worked were very dim. There was also a broken 3-pin wall socket. It was a very unpleasant night's sleep, with noise carried from the nearby rooms. I was very glad to have checked out.

"Chaotic and tired but staff do their best."
187gillr, 16 Octobre 2020

No breakfast even when booked- had to ask for it both days- a few items came in a bag, hardly what you d expect. Sink tap was loose, room was adequate but mucky. Only half a loo roll supplied, had to ask for more. No pillows other than feathers which we are both allergic too, which caused problems. Staff tried to help but could do no more with what they had.

"Great Stay in Aberdeen"
jamescZ730RY, 06 Août 2020

I used the Best Western Summerhill multiple times when I was working in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Don't be off-put by the outside or the area. The staff are excellent and always willing to help. For the price the rooms are excellent! The breakfast was a buffet style and cooked fresh. Loved the local black pudding and bacon. Highly recommend but a bus ride from the city centre

"So pleased!"
M92K, 25 Juillet 2020

Honestly, if you're travelling with an infant on a budget - this hotel is for you! Having booked a one of their suites I can't imagine staying at any other hotel during covid-19 as many if not all do not allow you to access their microwaves/fridges (infant's food to be stored/heated). Other than that - everything was very clean, bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. All rooms had a lovely little complimentary hamper too! Breakfast was ‘grab & go' didn't really know what this meant until we opened our bedroom door in the morning to find cute little lunch bags waiting to be collected lol inside is your standard pastry, drink and a breakfast bar. Can't complain! Must give a special shoutout to the lovely Collin!! He was an absolute gem and more hotels should hire the likes of Collin! So friendly and helpful. He really helped me make the decision of even booking this hotel in the first place. If you're driving the hotel is situated in a good place where the castle and beach are only 15 mins away :-)

"Overnight stay"
GrannyAsp, 08 Mars 2020

Excellent service again at this hotel. We had a very early hospital appointment & this hotel is ideally situated for this. Don't let the outside appearance put you off, it is lovely inside. The evening meal & breakfast were excellent. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

"Great stay"
joannebrown3108, 13 Février 2020

Breakfast ok, advise going early to get the fresh stuff as was cold by 8.30 Room complimentary basket was nice Large room with lots of space Good shower and bath great for little ones. Room Could have been a little cleaner but wasn't dirty

"Warm"
inverbear, 28 Janvier 2020

This hotel exterior let's it down , it's very dated and dowdie , where as the inside is clean , warm and welcoming. All the staff we came I contact with were very friendly and helpful and the welcome basket in the room was a lovely touch. Transport links to both the hospitals and the city are reliable and regular. There are also a couple of shops close by in a small precicinct and the supermarket is within easy walking distance. Xs

"Avoid this Hotel - Very poor standards"
semperlegis, 19 Janvier 2020

This was one of the worst stays in Aberdeen. Broken WC, no room servicing, broken TV remote, poor lighting. It is sad to say bad things but this is one to dodge. Overall the reception staff were good. The entrance is next to a very poorly lit area next to a rough as hell seedy bar. Easy pickings for crime. Dodgy room enrance cards. There are far better places to stay. This was used as an emergency stop and the experience was good for one night. I decided to stay again and it was terrible with the bed not being made properly, when and if the room was serviced. When serviced you can expect dirty cups and spoons as they are clearly only given a quick rinse in the WC sink. The counter tops are NOT cleaned. The room was repeatedly NOT vacuumed and they only make the bed by tidying the duvet and not adjusting the base sheet back. Under the bed was FILTHY. Loose wall fittings. You have to climb about under a unit to try and plug the kettle in and it was to sit on the floor. Overall it was a terrible stay. Sorry but you must do better and as for the external dingy lighting, muggers paradise in that area.

"RIP off stay"
Jackie_Dick, 02 Janvier 2020

Hogmanay meal was a complete joke Inedible Main Course: 2 choices both pasta Lasagne or Tagliatelle with packet cheese Sauce and very congealed both inedible. Other guests ask for something else and they were given this, I saw this and asked for the same. I was then advised by the rude and nasty waitress that all these people ( around 20 )that they had special dietary need.. I checked with them and she had blatantly lied to me. There was also one Scampi dinner left over and when I ask for it she said no .. she was then overhead saying that “ She's not getting it, take it away “ Dessert: Apple crumble or sticky toffee pudding ... neither came with the custard or ice cream that was on the men So in the end we had nothing to eat and had to purchase Fish Supper outside the hotel. So that was our Special Hogmanay ruined as when returning from the Fireball Festival .. the hotel bar was closed and they would not serve us a drink. Happy New Year to us. On returning to the hotel at 3pm the bar was closed and they refused to open as the didn't have the staff. They did say we could drink in our room. We eventually got them to open but they cranked up the air con full blast to freeze us into going to our rooms Our dinner was supposed to be a Turkey dinner..Turkey Roll Slices I wouldn't feed to my cat . Our entertainment that night was a QUIZ and the bar shut at 10:45 pm as they didn't have staff ... not our problem they are in the hospitality trade and they are a hotel. Shortened version

"Lovely surprise! The outside is deceptive. "
Runningmum49, 28 Décembre 2019

We booked this at the last minute after staying in an “apartment” in the city centre. We wanted to stay an extra day and found this hotel and as everyone has said the outside does not do it justice! But once you are through the front doors it's truly a best western! Check in and out were quick and efficient. The room was lovely, the bed was so comfortable and the hamper an added bonus! I really wish I'd spent the whole week here instead of the city centre apartment

"Ideal for Woodend Hospital"
Moleslie, 08 Décembre 2019

Mum has just had hip surgery done. I stayed here for 5 nights it's was in easy walking distance from Woodend. Lovely welcome basket. There is Tesco's and Lidl not far from hotel. Restaurant is really reasonable and good meals. Friendly helpful staff. Very happy with our stay.

"Convenient location"
Soundtec, 29 Novembre 2019

Pleasant comfortable rooms. Great breakfast provided - continental or full. Parking round back. Tea & coffee available in rooms. Helpful staff. Check disabled access to rooms though. Not so easy on upper floors.

"Good overnight stay"
craig m, 20 Novembre 2019

have to agree with other comments regards the view from the outside and the immediate surroundings (thats not the hotels faults) but once inside we found the service to be first class, staff are very helpful and surprisingly, being next to a busy road, very quiet at night. the rooms were large and clean and we found the breakfast to be more than enough for us, indeed kept us going all day. no problem recommending this hotel..

"Basic, clean, good value. Poor breakfast"
janeylowthian, 04 Novembre 2019

A rather uninviting place from the outside but inside it is clean and fresh and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Continental breakfast not worth having although not expensive. Overall if you are looking for a cheap place to stay the night with decent rooms (especially the family room) then this will more than suffice. Everything you need in the room which is clean and pleasant staff at a very reasonable price.

"Quiet, clean, and affordable with wonderful staff"
stories-inthend, 31 Octobre 2019

My wife and I bookended our roadtrip through the highlands here. The first night, there was a bit of a hiccup in that the toilet didn't work in our first room. However, the staff was immediately responsive and got us into a new room within 20 minutes. They were incredibly gracious and helpful. The room was quiet and clean. The breakfast downstairs was decent for hotel fare. For first time UK travelers, the location was easy to find and get to. I would definitely stay here again.

"hotel with very good service"
Rault114, 25 Octobre 2019

For me this hotel was a very good choise to make ! hotel staff were professional and always smiling in particular Colin as you will see when you will book this hotel he is a waiter/Recepționist /Chef / and in one word he have customer service. Why Him ? Well from the moment I step in the hotel he was smiling. Yes smiling At 2 in the morning! My self i am a FB manager in 5 star hotel ,when I see people like Colin I feel welcome and well treated no matter how cheap people criticize this hotel For the management of the hotel I would recommend taking care of people like Colin because they are hard to find. For people who do not know how to appreciate the staff the best weapon for both sides is the( smile)

"Do Not Book Here"
Haile_Bolasie, 22 Octobre 2019

I was unfortunately booked into this place for a course from work for two nights. What can I say? This place is a dump. From the disgusting exterior and filthy entrance steps to the dirty interior and room that look like a 1970`s Butlins. It also looks now as if it is not just a hotel but it is being used as a hostel. I`ve stayed in some ropey hotels in my years in the oil and gas industry all over the world but this is as bad as they come. I had an evening meal allowance but if the state of the public areas you could see was anything to go by, goodness knows what the kitchens would be like. I chose to go out and paid for my own meals while there. If you have a car I`d advise what I did and park it well away from this place and keep it safe and walk back to the "hotel". I can`t actually believe that Best Western still put their name to this place as I have stayed at quite a few of their hotels in Europe and further afield but this must rank as their absolute worst. Book this place at your peril. You have been warned.

"Family Stay"
lynnhrattray, 13 Octobre 2019

Not a great outbuilding but nice inside. We had a family room that consisted of a double and two single beds, plenty of room for all of us. Breakfast however was abysmal to say the least. We went down at 9.30 on the Sunday and although breakfast finished at 10 there was not much left. When I asked the waiter if more food was coming out he laughed at me! Needless to say we skipped breakfast on the Monday although we had paid for it. There were American guests and Curling teams from Hungary at breakfast too so god knows what they thought if it. We got a family ticket for the bus for £8 return into the city centre which was good. £10 for a taxi each way the night before so well worth it.

"Oh dear!"
Cheryl095, 27 Septembre 2019

How much space do I have? Unattractive building (which it can't help), parking nearby a small parade of shops so you have to lug your luggage quite a way. . Staff friendly but when we tried to book in for dinner we were told "sorry, no restaurant open on a Sunday. There's a Toby restaurant nearby". We had not been told about its closure. Our room, classed as a "suite" consisted of beds a sink, fridge, microwave, minimal cutlery etc and en suite. Cutlery did not include a spoon for coffee as these apparently disappear constantly! Sudden phone call from reception - dinner was now being served both nights of our stay after all. Static shower head so my husband was unable to wash his hair as he has ear problems. No toiletries, just soap, and one hand towel for 2. Room had not been hoovered. Another phone call from reception - no, sorry, now couldn't get a chef after all. Second night, still no chef. Money refunded though we were unsure whether it was the correct amount. Breakfast was ok though no butter - it hadn't been delivered! This place needs a total refurbishment and currently really lets down the Best Western name which is a shame.

"Checked out on night 2"
Jacqueline K, 26 Septembre 2019

well what can i say???? Be aware there is no parking at this hotel. You have to park in the shopping centre below the hotel at your own risk. room was kind of ok but outside the window there were always a family or two of pidgeons pooping all over the place. Window was broken so always open a slight bit so you could hear the birds all day and all night . view from the window were theses birds, bird droppings all over the place and electric cables and pipes that we could have connected to the national gird on them. not only unsightly but a health hazzard with all the bird poop and cables . bar was limited as was the food, service was also limited as there was only one girl serving food and the bar , we ended up not using it. staff are hard to pick out amongst the public as they have no uniform. workmen sitting around outside gusts doors having their break. would not come back. we were supposed to stay three nights but ended up checking out on night 2 and went home. also beware the amstal beer they have a pump for in the bar they no longer sell .

"Did the job"
Zhukov, 24 Septembre 2019

I stayed at the Best Western as it was a convenient location for a funeral I was attending. Comfortable bed, clean room, good shower, and helpful staff. Parking at rear of the hotel where Scott's bar is located, nothing to do with the hotel and well worth avoiding as all the local worthies and characters hang out there.

"Pleasant stay"
replyf174ajgq2h02019, 21 Septembre 2019

The hotel suffers a little from an unattractive location and not very pretty architecture. However, inside was very nice, staff were pleasant and polite, and the interior does make up for the exterior. We had some noise issues from a 21st birthday and our room being adjacent to a noise ventilation system on the building next door. Room facilities were very good, and I would stay again.

Zhukov45, 16 Septembre 2019

Booked the Best Western due to location as I was attending a funeral. Room and staff fine, no probs. Parking at rear of hotel. There is a pub called Scott's bar accessible of the car park and nothing to do with the hotel. Avoid at all costs as it is full of the local worthies and life.

"Staff Excellent - Room Unclean"
Rachel T, 28 Août 2019

Booked here as always been handy for hospital visiting, and never had any problem before. Staff are excellent; friendly and helpful. Room was lovely, the microwave is a godsend for those of us who spend 12hrs+ at the hospital bedside of a family member - I didn't return while after 8pm but I'd bought a ping-ping meal and ate it in my room (not all of us can afford to dine out every night). My room had been cleaned, but not thoroughly. There were bits of sweet wrapper on the floor, which I didn't notice at first because I was in a rush to get back to the hospital, and tbh I didn't care about it when I returned late in the evening. However, when I came back at about 8pm the following day the paper was still there, so obviously no vacuuming had been done. Also, the shower hadn't been cleaned out, and the hamper was empty. I was too tired to make a fuss about it (and lets face it, there's more important things in life) - but really, when folk have paid for a hotel service, it's not fair, is it? There is no air-con in the rooms (why do UK hotels not install air-con?) - and with the windows open due to the late summer heat, the room was unavoidably noisy - the hotel is right next to a busy dual carriageway; can't be helped, unless air-con is put in! One final point, the shower tray is quite high off the floor - not a problem for me, but anyone elderly or with back/leg/knee problems may have trouble getting in and out safely and/or with ease.

"Give a Wide Berth"
TonyG1972, 27 Août 2019

This Hotel is an avoid at all costs, might look cheap but you get what you pay for. My mother who is a pensioner booked this hotel for the night before an operation at nearby hospital, the hospital cancelled her operation and even although she tried to cancel reservation 48 hrs in advance she was told it was non-refundable. When challenged, uncooperative staff only referred to Terms & Conditions instead of displaying any sort of Customer Service. The clue is in the name, CUSTOMER SERVICE. Awful People and from memory this hotel struggles to obtain mediocre status... Every time I would rather pay double and deal with people who knows how the Hospitality Industry works than have anything to do with this Brand...

"Long weekend with Urquhart Travel"
davidgrist47, 27 Août 2019

First the good points a)rooms with modern bathrooms b) lovely complimentary basket of rgoodies on arrival c) buffet breakfast very good except the partly cooked sausage and no porridge as advertised. Now the not so good points a) Hotel not suited for coach parties as no parking or pick up or drop off points b) The evening meals served were disgusting eg cold mince and tatties for one . Is carrots the only available vegetable available in Scotland. C,) Only one choice on the menu take it or leave it attitude d) No porterage -elderly customers with mobility issues had to struggle with their luggage to the second floor e) The entertainment promised ended up being a 25 question quiz and 2 games of bingo- not Highland entertainment as I know it f) It was plainly obvious we were only there to fill the rooms and no customer care or welcoming was evident. All in all we would not pay a second visit to this Hotel. David and Andrea Grist

"Lovely room, horrible loud noise in the evening."
Amy B, 24 Août 2019

We checked in on Friday and the room was clean and lovely. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Saturday we came back around 8pm to find the noise downstairs was so loud and unforgiving it kept us up for many hours

"Room with kitchenette close to Royal Infirmary Hospital"
rpbti2016, 07 Août 2019

The first impression is not really welcoming. The outside of the buidling is not great. The hotel has no own private parking, there is a free parking area behind the buiding, space which is shared for customers of 3 take-aways, 2 small supermarkets and a pharmacy. Well, sadly all these stores to not care about the rubbish and dirt of their parking area. Too sad. Howver, the inside of the hotel is nice. It is not a 5 Star, but we did not expect a 5 Star, but a spacious room, clean beds, free Wifi. We had a room with a small kitchenette which is a bit more spacious, and has a desk to work with your laptop. we liked the design of the furnitures and decor. In the room is a free hamper with crisps, biscuits, tee and coffee, same as water and juice. The price for the room was good. When you are looking for a spacious room close to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Hospital for a reasonable price it really o.k. - Due to nearby are take-aways and smaller supermarket, you can easy fill your fridge. However the management should have a more serious control over the housekeeping. Complains could be easy reduced with checking the rooms before the next guests check in. We would book this Best Western again.

"Really good for the price "
DrDorian, 26 Juillet 2019

It's not a modern glitzy hotel but it is clean, friendly and welcoming. Facilities are excellent, we had a kitchenette double ensuite, which was large and comfortable. Parking is fine, just at the back of the hotel and there's a walk way through to the hotel. There is ramp access from car to lobby and a lift to all floors. Wheelchair access is good. It's not the ritz, but facilities are better than Travelodge and Premier Inn The only difficult part was booking over the phone. The call centre staff seemed to have no idea about the Best Western best rate guarantee. I called up with a Booking.com price, they offered a rate that was 10p more! Why? I had to push quite hard to get them to acknowledge the best rate guarantee, and I'm not sure I'd bother in future, I'd call the hotel directly. Staff are so much nicer and customer friendly. Oh, and we'll informed too We will definitely be back

"Aberdeen was full !"
lessmith2019, 13 Juillet 2019

Found this hotel due to our regular hotel being fully booked due to adverse weather conditions causing many many offshore workers to fill up hotels like no one's business ! The outside appearance of the hotel is ok at the front but looks dark and dismal at the rear where the car park is. However upon entering the hotel, it was what I would expect of a Best Western. The check in and check out were spot on and the room again was as expected and clean. We had a twin apartment type room with a kitchen. Everything worked as it should and I would personally use this place again.

hgibb175295, 11 Juillet 2019

The front of this hotel sadly does the hotel no favours sadly that cant be helped but don't judge a book by its cove. Inside is nice and pleasant with nice tilting like square mosaics that really set of the décor also nice staircase to second floor with acorn newel posts. had a quick look in the function room very nice. Our bedroom was pleasant spacious as was the bathroom, nice welcome hamper with Scottish water and border biscuits which are good quality also fridge in room with juice cartons ok there should have been kit kat according to room info but a minor matter. Beds quite firm with good bedding It was nice not to have any complaints wish this happened more. Breakfast was nice although l didn't know I could have porridge. We arrived early flight from Manchester to meet friend who also was staying there and friend who lives round the corner she could not have been closer infact I have walk further in some hotels to my room. We asked about coffee and were told to just help ourselves to the machine which is also the one you use at breakfast there was no charge.

Yet to have a bad stay, food is always on point & any room I have stayed in has always been clean & well presented. I love the welcoming hamper, such a great addition to the rooms with no extra/additional charges.

"Good stay"
Adventure51018058891, 21 Mai 2019

Booked this hotel at last minute, as i had to travel from Inverness to Aberdeen to visit a family member in hospital. The hotel is a couple of minutes drive to the hospital. Room small but adequate for a 1 night stay. Reception staff very helpful. Breakfast was really nice Hamper in room was a lovely touch

"Housekeeping"
tokyScotland, 11 Mai 2019

Booked for one night, room not vacuumed and light dusty. Complimentary tray - part used water in it , yuk. Kettle had stale water in and blood splashing on net curtains which were also mouldy at top. Bed was clean and comfy. Receptionist on 10.519 was polite welcoming and receptive to our issues so that was a plus point.

"Handy, comfortable hotel at reasonable cost"
Dreamer21224894914, 06 Mai 2019

We stayed several nights at the hotel. The staff were incredibly helpful. The room was big, with a comfortable bed. The room had a kitchen too which was very handy. There are other facilities nearby. I would definitely stay again or recommend the hotel to other people.

"Worthwhile"
kenmacc1, 05 Mai 2019

Stayed for just the one night. Room was clean beds are a bit small but comfy. Staff all helpful and cheery. Breakfast wasn't the best food was a bit dry and we had finished the time the eggs got to us. Parking is not great really as it's in the middle of a bunch of shops but car was fine so it's not a complaint. Never going to be a top hotel but for the money it really is value. Would definitely use it again.

"Could do with a really good clean."
FlushGorden, 13 Mars 2019

While the hotel fulfilled all the needs for a night away and I can't fault the complimentary hamper of hot drinks, biscuits, and kit kats the room did have a layer of dust. That could have been overlooked till I got into the shower and found black mould and all round the edge of the bathroom was either white mould or just where a lot of dust had collected. The shower was also missing a knob which I'm assuming controlled the lower two nozzles. I'm not sure if its standard now but the complimentary toiletries consisted of a single little soap and a shower gel bolted to the shower wall. The room had also had the bathroom lock and the door chain removed so you had to rely on the "Do not Disturb" sign for your safety. I also think the staff should check the fridge when cleaning the room as I found half a tub of ice cream from a previous guest still in the freezer and their multipack of crisps in a cupboard. The bed was nice and comfy and you could get a good sleep if it wasn't for the pigeons outside the window that woke me at 6am. Breakfast was a good selection although the bacon was cold by the time I got to it. I would consider staying here again due to the price but would be very disappointed if my room was the standard of the whole hotel.

"Fantastic hotel"
Climber13179732762, 07 Mars 2019

Great hotel, really friendly and great food, service and value. Car Parking was free and round the back of the hotel. The staff were really friendly and very helpful, also I enjoyed the bar and restaurant.

can't fault the facilities or the stay at all would 100% recommend and will definitely be staying here again and Is in short distance from town with well priced taxi services if you are going out. under floor heating was a dream

"Excellent Hotel"
Sightsee38589264512, 28 Janvier 2019

The hotel looks nothing from the outside, but inside is clean, comfortable and has fantastic staff. There is good selection of complimentary items in the room - fresh orange and apple cartons, fizzy water and still water, kit kats, crisps, quality biscuits, and also the usual hot drink selections

"Excellent value"
HelenZA, 05 Janvier 2019

We stayed here as a base for visiting the castles and great houses in the area. Perfect for this. It is a little far out of town if you want to visit Aberdeen centre, though there is a bus stop just outside the hotel. The room was very spacious, with a sink, microwave and fridge as well as tea making facilities. There was also a welcome pack that was replenished every day. Juice in the fridge and hot chocolate as well as tea and coffee and snacks provided. Only place we came across this. Staff lovely. Breakfast by far the best we had anywhere, including the much more expensive Doubletree in Glasgow. You could order eggs any way you liked and get fresh pancakes. Wonderful. The only caveat is that there are no restaurants nearby. We had takeaway pizza the one night, and ate in a small Indian takeaway another night. The one night we ate in the hotel the soup was okay, with nice bread, but no choice. However, there is a good supermarket just next door, so you can stock up there.

"Don't judge a book....."
markeB1259KD, 26 Novembre 2018

This is a great hotel and we had a great trip. Don't be fooled by the concrete look to the building, inside wouldn't be out of place in the tourist parts of America that we've visited as its very modern and you shouldn't be put off that it's part of a local shopping place. Parking for the hotel is in the small car park, it is a bit odd but it's fine. Don't park at the back of the shops though as its labelled residents only, hotel staff say it's ok but I wouldn't. The hotel is hugely underused to the point of being ridiculous. Staff very kindly opened the bar to just the two of us to watch the rugby and the hotel doesn't open the restaraunt on a Friday or Saturday night as there's private functions on. Staff are only too happy to let you bring something in and will even give you cutlery! Staff are friendly and courteous in general and helpful for local knowledge. Our room was more of a suite than a room with sink, micro and a welcome hamper with kitkats lying in wait in the fridge! Comfortable hotel and staff made for an enjoyable stay. Check out was super fast in that we only had to hand over the key! Would recommend for value, comfort!

Stayed at this hotel as a budget stay , well all I can say puts all your low priced hotel groups to shame, excellent staff at reception, good quality breakfast and very clean rooms with a welcome basket of drinks and snacks water in fridge with orange and apple juice for me 5*****

"Great value"
Alan G, 20 Novembre 2018

Single room for £35 per night including breakfast is hard to beat. Admittedly there was an offer on so don't expect that price every time. Not much to do round about and the hotel bar was quite dead so be prepared for a night in front of the TV.My single room was poorly laid out. For example a 4 inch gap at the top of the bed because of the position of the radiator meant the pillows slipped down the gap. Or having to crawl under the desk to plug the kettle in. Silly mirror in the bathroom.

"Excellent Hotel - Parking, Great Rooms, Crisps/Biscuits and Kitkat and Fantastic Lady on Reception"
Martin W, 28 Août 2018

We arrived after driving up from Wakefield - some 368 miles. Car Park - no fees/no hassle. Check in the easiest ever. Lovely lady on reception and a great laugh. Lovely room. Room 101 - was a bit worried thinking I might get ejected by a big lever. I can't just can't believe that I am staying here for the price I am and have got what I have got. Talk about value for money. If I come to Aberdeen again I will make sure I stay here.

"Lovely small hotel - shame about the parking"
DaveBhoy72, 12 Août 2018

Stayed here as an overnight when visiting family in Aberdeen. Cost for a studio room was great value, and the room was very spacious and clean. Excessively warm though, and that was a bit of a problem through the night. Breakfast was very good - buffet style, but only a small quantity of each food put out at a time, so kept it fresh and warm. Good range too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Car parking really needs looked at, though - no spaces when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon, as it's shared with local shops. Very little alternative spaces locally. Did manage to get a space later in the evening when we returned, but it felt less than secure - no issues as it turned out, but proper secure parking is badly missed. Overall, a great option when visiting the city and we'll definitely consider this as an option for the next visit.

"GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY"
vanman2018, 12 Août 2018

Stopped overnight for business, room was a good size, clean and had all the facilities you require plus complimentary snacks. Well situated and attentive staff. Not picturesque surroundings but you're in the city and if its a business stay you're after then this hotel is fine.

"Best Western Summerhill Hotel and Suites."
annbbrooks, 02 Août 2018

Small hotel, excellent value. We had a suite, large room, and great to have a fridge. Clean and quiet with helpful friendly staff. Very handy location, buses stop outside the door take you to Union Street, Maggies, and all round the town. Close to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Woodend Hospital. Very hot weather when we stayed, a fan was supplied for our room, and we sat out on the cool terrace drinking beer and watching the world go by.

"Good hotel for the money"
06frankie, 31 Juillet 2018

We stayed in a family room which had a king-size bed and two singles. The room was huge and comfortable. We especially liked the added touch of kit kats, water, juice and crisps, all complimentary this was a nice thought. Breakfast was good and I thought for the price we paid, was well worth the money.

"Cheap and cheerful"
Cara C, 27 Juillet 2018

Staff were lovely, room was modern comfy and clean with lots of space! Having a fridge and kettle was fab! Thw room was really reasonably priced and good location for us as we were visiting family in the near by hospital! Walking distance. The only downside was the noise from the seagulls during the night! Think there is so many of them due to all the fast food outlets out the back! Have to say the chinese was really good and so cheap!

"A nice place.... to see out the zombie apocalypse"
jfleming123456, 18 Juin 2018

When my partner and I arrived we were greeted with passing neds jumping into the driver side window of a passing van. True, you can't judge a hotel on account of the locals or the area (well, much) but that set the tone for our stay - which we cut short to one night instead of two. The area: If you recall the TV show "The Scheme" you're pretty much there. There is no dedicated parking and you leave your car amidst a selection of pizza places, and a takeout chinese... very safe I'm sure on a saturday night. There is also a pub directly underneath the hotel. Then there is the underpass - a small section of the hotel building you walk underneath to get to the shops. Plenty of locals hanging about smoking whatever and despite previously living in a rough area of Glasgow, even we were considering phoning for food delivery to the hotel room. Then there was the room.... no prosecco waiting for us despite me phoning ahead and requesting this (it was our anniversary). The internet connection disconnects you every few minutes so netflix, our only solace for the evening, was useless for streaming. The microwave in the room seemed to switch on when you opened the door - essentially cooking fresh air. The shower temperature randomised meaning my partner ended with a cold shower while mine decided to burn the skin off me, then there was morning breakfast... where the table wobbled so much eating was an adventure. But the real killer for me was that when we checked out early we weren't even asked "how was everything for you?" The staff on the desk seemed resigned to the place being the worst hotel I've ever stayed in - and I used to travel and stay in UK hotels every week. The only positive was that the stay inspired me to book elsewhere - so we made the drive to Oban for an infinitely better stay. If your choice is between sleeping in your car or staying here.... choose your car.

"My experience"
Collins0118, 27 Mai 2018

When I arrived at the hotel, I was not sure about the location. But I found I was wrong. People were very kind in the surrounding restraints and neighbourhood. The room was large and comfortable. Also the breakfast was good.

"Attending a family party "
daphne06, 13 Mai 2018

Been originally from Aberdeen but moved away over 9 yrs ago, we knew of the hotel and wasn't sure about staying here but I would definitely recommend. From the outside it still looks quite old and no change, but once inside, well what a transformation. Lovely welcome but was surprised to be told they didn't serve meals on a fri or sat night but there are a few takeaways in the area which we were told we could take back to our room, which we did. We booked into a family room which was very clean, spacious, beds comfortable and I thought the complimentary goodies were such a lovely touch (my daughter loved it). Lovely decor all around the hotel, very nice indeed and function room where party was held was also very nice. Only negative was trying to find a car park space at back of hotel which is shared with other businesses but we finally found one. Thanks for a lovely stay.

"Hidden gem!"
Ann I, 08 Mai 2018

Second stay here and was not disappointed. Booked a suite and had the benefit of a fridge, sink and microwave (although even the standard rooms have a fridge). A lovely basket of goodies (water, crisps, shortbread and the usual tea/coffee etc, and also juice and kitkats in the fridge). Comfortable bed, and clean room. The breakfast was nice, and buffet style to help yourself. Staff friendly and helpful. What more do you need?

"what sort of hotel doesnt serve evening meals on a Friday or Saturday"
wallerholiday8, 03 Avril 2018

From the outside this hotel looked run down and the public car park at the rear made me nervous to park my car there as there was a rough looking pub on the car park...however we did leave our car there and to be fair it was fine. Inside the hotel was very modern and we were met with a warm welcome. The room was spotless with a microwave , fridge & sink. A little hamper with fresh bottles of water, crisps and kit kats was also in the room ....which was a good job because when we asked for a menu so we could have some food we were told that they didnt serve food on a Friday or a Saturdayevening as there wasnt much call for it,(we wernt told this at check in or at booking) the Manager did say we could bring food in and eat it in the bar area but the choice in the area was Dominoes, Papa Johns or a Chinese takeaway.. we also had to ask for drinks to be served in the bar as it was shut but they did open it for us on request to be fair. Breakfast was ok and staff friendly but all in all if you ccant get a meal in a hotel on a Saturday evening would you return? not sure we would.

"Awful Hotel"
Annielou11, 21 Mars 2018

Sleep quality was awful, noise outside very loud until late at night then early in morning with deliveries to shops at rear of hotel. the window would not close to filter this out. Not the cleanest either. No actual car park but free public car park at rear, did not feel especially safe. Breakfast was good but evening meal basic. Bar staff very efficient and friendly.

"Great place to stay"
Susan G, 21 Mars 2018

I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions over the last three years whilst visiting my daughter who was studying in Aberdeen. The rooms are spotless and spacious. I like the personal touch of the welcome snacks in the room. Staff are so welcoming and helpful from booking in to departure. the breakfast is good value, as are the bar meals.

"Never again"
Kenny M, 17 Mars 2018

I stayed in this Hotel for a few weeks while working in Aberdeen ,I was assured the car park would be safe as it had cameras although it was a shared car park with some shops ,my car was badly vandalised and asked the staff to check the cameras ,I was told it would have to be a manager who would view them and get in contact with me as I was checking out that day ,after several phones calls to the Hotel I never got a response,I also went to the restaurant on a few occasions to be told the chef is not taking any more orders as he was to busy ,,6 people in restraunt ? .and would not be serving again for a other hour ,I was suppose to be booking back into Hotel for several more weeks ,the booking was cancelled

"Very nice and big room. "
Richymcguigan, 18 Février 2018

Stayed here for an overnight. Close enough to City centre in a taxi although taxi's in Aberdeen are expensive “£10” from hotel to centre only a few minutes away. Restaurant and bar was closed but pub below was open and very cheap - not exactly a nice pub but ok. Room was large and had fridge, microwave and a hamper with crisps, cookies and juice etc. Would recommend for couples.

"Nice room, food okay"
Paul L, 22 Janvier 2018

The room was a suite, very nice and tidy with everything you might need for a short stay. Breakfast was nice, but dinner was let down by an odd smell in the bar area (I stayed for four nights and the smell was there each night), and the food was just okay. Not a great choice of meals on the menu but I believe there was a change of staff in the kitchen around that time. I would prefer more of a choice than the usual scampi/fish/steak/chilli as a main course. This wouldn't stop me going back though, and staff were always friendly and helpful.

"New Year Stay"
stevenstrother, 03 Janvier 2018

The hotel is a 1970s brutalist building and, consequently, a bit grim from from the outside. However, the interior is modern, light and welcoming, as were all of the staff. The hotel was spotless and very quiet. I am very happy with my stay.

"Our Stay"
Jan B, 23 Décembre 2017

We stayed in a family room, the room was a good size and with good freebies included, crisps, chocolate, biscuits, juices and water. Also plenty tea and coffee. The staff are great and Hotel is nice and clean.

"Not a hotel. "
Richard M, 22 Décembre 2017

Strangest hotel I've stayed in. Room comfortable enough but restaurant closed as it was on our previous stay. There is a nice enough restaurant but only opened for breakfast. For a Best Western not their usual type of hotel

"Aberdeen site Visit"
johnoF8932KK, 18 Décembre 2017

During a recent business trip I had the pleasure of staying in the Summerhill Hotel in Aberdeen. The hotel is clean and cheerful and the staff were very helpful. This hotel is suitable for anyone who is working or is looking for a break in Aberdeen it is fairly central and close to the ring road. The hotel offers value for money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean and economical place to stay.

"Disappointed"
linda110599, 11 Décembre 2017

This is the 3rd time staying there and totally disappointed. Was -4 outside and no heating on in the room, took few hours to heat up. Heater in bathroom was broken. I am a larger lady but definitely larger than me out there and i squeezed through the door of the shower just. Shower door was hanging of its hinge and leaking somewhere as floor was flooded. Stood on an earring that hadnt been picked up from previous guests and a hair bobble also. This was the first time getting a long lie as my partners check in time for offshore usually 6am, i was woken at 6.45 am with nxt doors alarm going off, then toilet flushing then running water. Managed to dose iff again till a constant chap at door at 8.45am which was housekeeping wanting in to do the room. Worst experience ever

"Walk welcome"
D6151QJemmab, 09 Décembre 2017

Arrived in Aberdeen during a bad storm and had a few reservations about the hotel, it's not the prettiest! As soon as I walked into reception I felt at ease and the staff were really welcoming and professional .Decor is nice and my single room was spacious and cosy. I was staying on my own but the staff were so friendly and helpful that I really felt at home, I've stayed in many hotels while working away over the last few years and this was definatley one of my better experiences.

"Favoured Hotel"

This is still by far my favorite place when visiting Aberdeen, with a wee welcome hamper, comfortable room, good food within the restaurant & not to mention the warm & welcoming staff from reception through to the bar.

"Business stay"

"Better in than out!"
L2837RXgrahamc, 09 Novembre 2017

The outside looks dreadful and quite uninviting. The inside is considerably better. Used two suites on this stay and both were OK but not stunning. The staff are really friendly and go a long way to making the customer happy. hence better in than out!

"Base for exploring Aberdeen "
backpacker31, 26 Octobre 2017

I must admit, when the bus (#23) dropped me off in front of the hotel I was a bit turned off. The immediate area is not the prettiest (a housing estate/apartment complex with several small shops and car dealerships). Also, the outside of the hotel could use a good scrubbing and/or paint job. However, any anxieties were quickly put to rest upon entering. The lobby is bright and updated. I was greeted and checked in by the very personable and exceptionally professional Karen. Throughout my four night stay she always made the time to greet me by name and chat about my day's exploring. I had a single room which provided me with a most comfortable and functional space. Along with a single bed, my room had a microwave, fridge, sink, cutlery/dishes and a kettle. I also had a writing desk area, flat panel TV and large wardrobe. The bathroom was bright, modern and spotless. One morning I availed myself to the hotel breakfast (£8.95). I must say there is room for improvement when it came to the hot foods. The eggs (made to order) were not great and there were not enough hot vegetarian options. The cold items were much better - cereals, yogurts, cheeses, fresh fruit and breads. While the hotel location is not in the city center, it is only a 10-15 minute bus ride with frequent stops during the week. There is a supermarket (Lidl) located just up the street (5 minute walk), a Cocket Hat carvery restaurant around the corner and two take away chain pizza shops in the same complex as the hotel. Overall, a very good value.

"Good stay in nice hotel"
gbmontreal, 25 Septembre 2017

The hotel rooms are spacious and of good standard. The bed was comfortable and a nice bathroom. Staff were very helpful and were very happy to help and provide information. Hotel restaurant was good and prices good. Breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety and made to order eggs. Parking is in the back of the hotel and is shared parking for a couple of shops. No dedicated parking. There is not much in the area around the hotel.

"Great for a short visit to Aberdeen"
Garry C, 22 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for a one night break and found ourselves in the most friendly and welcoming hotel. Having arrived early the receptionist suggested we bring in our bags and she would look after them. We were directed to the bus stop across the street and the number 23 took us into the centre of town to take to the shops and for some lunch. An easy trip back later we were checked in by another member of staff who was equally friendly. She advised us that there was a coach party in so we might want to watch what time we came in for dinner. As it was pouring with rain we decided to stay in and were served by again very friendly and efficient staff. The food was freshly prepared and very good quality and the prices for food and drink were quite reasonable. The room was the star here. We were very comfortable. There is a nice small kitchette with fridge, microwave and basic cutlery. Also plenty supplies of teas and coffee plus kitkats in the fridge and crisps plus bottled water, all complimentary. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom a bit small but well supplied with soap, shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast the next morning was a very nicely cooked buffet and again friendly staff. Well done and thank you to Best Western and all employees at the Summerhill!

"Fantastic hotel and restaurant!"
Jennymia52, 07 Septembre 2017

Stayed here on business this week and received top class service, from the outside the hotel doesn't look much however when you step in side it's a complete contrast, check in was fast and friendly room was spotless with nice little nibbles, the restaurant and food was excellent my Brie to start with delicious and my steak with stacked chips was cooked to perfection I would highly recommend this accompanied by their whiskey sauce. All management and staff I encountered were extremely friendly and are a asset to the hotel. Will definitely stay again.

"Hotel stay"
traceyrhodes20, 15 Août 2017

I have stayed at this hotel before, which is located within Aberdeen and is easily accessible to main routes both to further north and south. The hotel itself is lovely and the rooms are immaculate. The customer service is excellent, and tend to any requests that I have had. And on the who,e the hotel is a very quiet place so allows me to relax after a hard days work. My room although facing the main road can be noisy at times If the windows open you could hear traffic, when they are shut this is reduced. The area itself is not overly pleasing but the local people appear to be nice enough, so I would recommend that the area doesn't put people off coming to stay. There is car parking next to the hotel, and the food is great, along with having a fridge and serving area(sink and cutlery and utensil) located in my room, which allowed me a choice of eating in or getting food in to eat in.

"Dont judge a book by its cover"
Antony G, 01 Août 2017

My wife recently stayed here for one night whilst i was in ARI. Obviously it was a very tense and anxious time for us both and all i wanted for my wife was a safe & clean hotel which was as close to ARI as possible. We use other hotels in Aberdeen quite regularly and to be totally honest we have never thought about this hotel and this is 100% down to the way it looks from outside, the parking, dim walkway and unimpressive entrance. Well; It's the norm for people to go online to moan or complain and only the minority of people ever have anything good or honest to say. Yes it's very dated from the outside but after reading all reviews and actually taking the time to look at pictures from within the hotel we thought it looked clean with good facilities. My wife's room was very clean and comfortable and her welcome was polite and appreciated. Although she never ate inside the hotel she could smell the food from the restaurant and the menu was good. The car park was well lit and she had no concerns leaving the vehicle parked there. Around the back of the hotel where you park there is a cafe and a number of take away restaurants . No noisey pub! The walkway through to the front entrance of the hotel was a bit "dingey" and could do with a clean up with fresh paint but my wife never once felt unsafe and she was returning at differing times. So all in all I'd have to say it's well worth it's bargain pricing and the rooms are clean and welcoming! Now that we have used this hotel, I can guarantee we will return in the future.

Went here for breakfast at the weekend on Sunday after hearing good reviews... I'm not sure what people are seeing as all i seen was an empty buffet counter. Very unorganised for such a busy day. I waited over 20 minutes for just sausages. When I asked the waitress how long it takes to fry some sausages she just grunted at me and said soon. This lady just huffed and puffed during our time there it was very strange to see someone that is providing a service be so rude and unhelpful. Not even a chef in sight at this time just a waiter in and out with some foods but still no sausages. Juice - empty Bread - empty, everything was just empty. To be fair the waiter was apologetic and was trying to get food out as fast as possible but it was just too long to wait. Once I eventual got some breakfast everything was either dry or burnt (no bacon is better than burnt bacon) I then looked over to the counter and I see the chef very sweaty and not even a hat on and this man had a lot of hair. This put me right off and we headed to pay at reception. I know its only £3.90 for breakfast but that is not the point we still should not have been charged. We will not be returning even if it was the only option.

Party of five, four of us had fish and chips, the fish batter was very poor, wet and soggy on the bottom, horrible greasy meal. Desert wasn't much better, my daughters ice-cream was melted. The whole place appeared to be short staffed with no-one even on the reception. Waitress asked if we enjoyed the meal - she was told about the fish batter, the response was "I'll pass that on", heard nothing more. Very disappointing, won't be going back. Funnily enough the restaurant was totally empty apart from us - Friday night.

Firstly we have been here a few times for year's and has been OK and value for money with the groupon voucher, Even when they done the Sunday roasts But I must say it is getting worse firstly with the groupon you also get 2 drinks 1 each prosecco but i always ask to change mine for a small glass of wine so i asked for wine instead and was told by i think we a manger who was serving us we can't do this !! I pointed out i always change it when we come here and his answer was That's because likely we had no procecco ??? So I though not worth the hassle... So he came back with my drink saying we don't have a procecco glass so had to give me a wine glass !!! My first course was soup in which it was good my husband asked for his starter and was told they don't have it!! But they made him mushrooms instead.. the girl in the kitchen (chef) was very good .. Main course now I got pasta which I left as it was like pasta and a sauce from a jar ..again I asked the manager for Parmesan cheese he went to the kitchen and walked by and I seen him tell a waiter to tell me they also have none? The waiter lifted our plate's and mine was full not touched and he said everything OK I said no its like a plate of pasta with a jar of tomatoe sauce he lifted it up and just said would you like the bill now ? Not even a manager to come and ask about why I never ate the food?.. We would never go back here Manager a joke ... The young waiter is very nice also the girl in the kitchen very nice but customer service in management should be addressed

"Good hotel"
User, 13 Juin 2017

Stayed here recently. Hotel was nice and clean. Exterior isn't the most appealing but as soon as you are through the door then that completely changes. Room was excellent and was always quiet even while facing a main road. The food was unbelievably brilliant especially the breakfast. Would recommend this hotel

"Noisey, outdated exterior...fag ends everywhere"

Exterior outdated...first impression...cigarette ends everywhere and staff at every fire exit smoking... once inside staff were friendly enough. Room was clean but very noisey as there was an inch gap under the door.

"Awful experience to stay here "
hazuko r, 03 Juin 2017

We visited Aberdeen very often and have been stayed in different hotels every time we visited. This hotel is really the worst experience we had experienced. 1. Unsafe car park: it shares car park with the stores behind it. Unfortunately there is a bar and full of drunk and anti social people hanging around. 2.very noisy: we were not informed there would be a function all night till 1200 midnight!!!! When we all settled and showered and ready to have rest, the loud music started and we asked to changed rooms, then the lady said she can't do anything about it because they are fully booked and then I was unhappy and 10 mins later they said they had room now all of a suddent!! unfortunately, with two babies we can't move now as we had finally settled them and placed them in cot. We really didn't want them to get disturbed anymore! They then said it was our choice not to change room!!! 3.moulded bath towel and checked in with 2 adults, they only gave us 1 set of bath towel. Empty shower gel bottle. 4.bad staff training... definitely awful! Everything is customers fault! 5.terrible breakfast too!! DON'T stay in this hotel! Stay in the premier inn right next to it with the same price and better service and room!!!

"Inside, the Hotel is clean, tidy and what you would expect from a BW Hotel...."
JohnnyRehctub, 29 Mai 2017

I stayed here for just one night. On this Trip Advisor site several reviewers have commented on the outside appearance of the Hotel but comment favourably about the interior. This is exactly what I found. Outside, it's a bit grim, but if the location not important for you, apart from maybe being close to the Hospital and not in the centre of Town and at a very reasonable cost, you will not be disappointed. Inside, the Hotel is clean, tidy and what you would expect at a Best Western Hotel. My room was large with a small kitchen area with microwave, sink, fridge, plates, cups etc. There was a hamper with complimentary Kit Kats, Crisps, bottled water and the usual tea & coffee. The Breakfast was good with eggs cooked to order in the style of your choice and a good selection of fruit & cereal and traditional breakfast items. If you are just looking for a clean room and bed for the night and a good breakfast at a good price, look no further. My B&B under £50! Not a Hotel to impress a girlfriend or client however, nothing fancy, just polite staff from a small team.

"Short and sweet, convenient for hospital"
the_real_whitehouse, 26 Mai 2017

Friendly staff, really cheap. Brilliantly placed for visiting the hospital. I stayed in a small single room that had everything I could need, including a sweet welcome hamper. Not quite the location for a romantic weekend away, but perfectly efficient and clean.

"Don't judge by the exterior. Excellent hotel"
lica312, 25 Mai 2017

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel in May 2017 while a family member was in ARI. The hotel is lovely inside. It is clean, modern and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room has everything you could ask for, kettle, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, fridge, microwave and free wi fi. There is also a complimentary hamper with 2 bottles of water (still & sparkling), crisps, biscuits with tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The fridge has milk, juice and kit Kat biscuits, all of which was replenished on a daily basis. The toilet has complimentary shampoo, conditioner, facecloth and shower cap. This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel and have recommended it to friends and family. I would have no hesitation staying here again. The outside doesn't give a very good impression but as soon as you walk through the front door you are in a lovely hotel. Excellent value for money.

"Fawlty Towers"
rosmac644, 17 Mai 2017

Went to this hotel tonight for dinner, with my husband. Had already booked a table but as we were early we went to the bar for a drink. A lady acknowledged us and said she would be there in a moment. After ten minutes of standing at the bar, my husband spoke to a passing waitress who said someone would be with him. After five minutes a young lad appeared and asked if anyone was needing serving! Instead of having a relaxing drink before our meal we had 5 minutes. Husband went to the dining room to ask about our table, lady went through to the kitchen to find out then appeared with plates of food for a table. She then came back and asked if she could help him!!!!! Goldfish memory springs to mind! She showed us to our table and eventually I asked a passing waitress if we could have some menus. We looked at the menus, made our choices, then the waitress came back and said there was no prawn cocktail scampi or steak. My husband had chosen prawn cocktail and steak and I had chosen scampi! We made different choices and the food was alright, although the chicken was a bit dry. We ordered 2 glasses of prosecco and jokingly my husband said " bet they don't have any". I said " dont be silly" but you guessed it.... no prosecco! Ended up with red wine. No tip given this evening and won't be going back.

"Great hotel"
Macgilchrist, 02 Mai 2017

Room was great, very comfortable bed and good shower. There was a basket of all you need, including tea, coffee, decaf coffee, hot chocolate, there was also crisps and biscuits. The best was having a fridge and a kettle (often there is only either). There was a microwave in which we heated some soup for lunch bought in the nearby Lidl. There seemed to be a shortage of staff at breakfast, however we had all we needed.

"Dont judge hotel by the exerior"
smokieFalkirk, 01 Mai 2017

We stayed here over easter for two nights. We checked in fine and our room was spacious and clean. We loved the hamper idea and the treats it included well thought of. The area around the hotel may put some people off but the rooms are great. We had kitchen facilities in our room which comes in handy. Comfortable sleep and easy access or 25min walk to Aberdeen City Centre. Had a lovely stay and will return

Fantastic value for money. Super hotel inside, don't be put off by the exterior. Great service. Rooms.were superb. Clean, well maintained and comfortable. Stayed two nights and would not think twice about returning again.

"Better on the inside than it is on the out."
Neil B, 15 Avril 2017

Situated about 2 miles out from the city centre of Aberdeen this building has the look and feel of being built in the 70's. However, don't let looks decive you as inside is comfortable, clean and warm and is very popular. I stayed here for a couple of nights at the start of April 2017 as I was up visiting Brewdog etc. On entering I was warmly greeted by a member of staff and given my room number (206). This was a small compact room but it had everything required and was very clean and tidy. Plus free wi-fi was included and that was quite fast. The real nice touch was the hamper left for guests which contained 2 bottles of water (still & sparkling), crisps, biscuits with tea, coffee and hot chocolate. All of which was replenished on a daily basis. The hotel is situated on a main road but you'd never know because it was so well insulated and I slept very well both nights of my stay. There is also a major bus route the #23 which runs directly into the city centre (Union Street) and runs every 10 minutes and costs £2.30 one way. Or if you want to catch a taxi this will set you back around £7.80. Although this was to the train station, so might cost less to some where else. If you're going to see a concert at the AECC then the bus can be caught from Raeden Avenue which is about 12 minutes to walk. This will be the X40 and will set you back £2.60 one way. I didn't eat at the hotel so I cannot comment on the food, but the restaurant looked very busy in the morning so it must be good. I managed to get the room only for £68 for 2 nights and this for me was a bargain, I'd of happily paid more. It's definitely worth booking this hotel if you find that all the usual hotels are booked up.

"Clark wedding "
Derek C, 14 Avril 2017

Stayed here with my with for 3 nights got a great rate cause of wedding package. Very clean hotel staff really nice never tried the food as I thought it was a wee bit expensive but I heard food was great. Didn't like that the bar shut at 11pm on s Thursday night as we were residents I thought there would be a residents bar till late. There needs to be more draught beer as there was only one and that wasn't that nice.

"Dont judge a book by its cover!!"
stevenroy1992, 04 Avril 2017

This hotel doesnt look to convincing from the outside but when your inside its very nice!! Me and my girlfriend had a very enjoyable 5 night stay recently, and we were welcomed by pleasant and helpful staff. The whole place was clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed and a very good shower in our room. Included in our room was a fridge with kit kat bars, small cartons of juice, crisps, biscuits and bottles of water which were replaced every morning and were all included in a very good room price. Highly recommend this hotel if your visiting Aberdeen.

"Don't judge a book by it's cover."
eddienicholson, 31 Mars 2017

We had a very enjoyable two night stay recently - the welcome by pleasant and helpful staff more than made up for having to park in an untidy community car park. There is no designated Hotel Car park. The whole place was clean and tidy - with comfy beds and a very good shower in our standard room. Included in the room was a fridge with kitecat bars and small cartons of juice, these plus crisps, biscuits and bottles of water were all included in a very good room price. The meals were reasonably priced and of good quality. Alas the restaurant was closed on one night so had a very good meal from Plaza Pizza just 50 yds from the hotel. The breakfast contained a good variety of cold and hot food - but alas the presentation was spoilt by having cold plates to eat the hot food off. There is a lift in the hotel but to get to 2nd floor , once you leave the lift you have to climb about twelve stairs. I am told there were rooms available direct from the lift, with no stairs, so ask when you book.

"Bowling weekend"
maryWestlothian, 26 Mars 2017

Stayed for the weekend as my husband was playing in a bowling tournament. Firstly the location was ideal as the Bowling club was just around the corner. The receptionist who booked us in was lovely, so friendly and welcoming. The hotel room was amazing, immaculate.. there was a complimentary picnic basket with crisps, water, cookies and tea, coffee and sugar.. there were kitkats in the fridge and cartons of milk and juice. I had brought shampoo conditioner etc.. this was already in the bathroom.. there was also a new face cloth in a sealed bag and fresh white towels... In the wardrobe there was an iron ironing board.. hairdryer (I'd also brought my own) Sewing kit..shoe shine pack.. They had thought of everything.. this is just a little gem of a hotel. We had actually drank the water and biscuits and they replaced them next morning!! There's a wee bar underneath the hotel doesn't look much but really friendly... Need a taxi if going into city centre or there's a bus stop right outside. We will certainly return to this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. Thankyou once again for making our first time in Aberdeen a pleasant one. Mary & Kenny Martin..

"Look beyond the exterior "
addictedt0travelling, 19 Mars 2017

We stayed at this hotel for a last minute visit to Aberdeen. The exterior of the hotel is not the best but you forget about that when you enter the lovely modern, clean and welcoming interior. We parked our car at the hotel and used the frequent bus service into the centre of Aberdeen. The bus stop is just outside the hotel. Our room was lovely, modern, clean with a great bed and all the comforts you would get with a more expensive 4 star hotel. Great cooked breakfast as well, all included in the price. I would recommend this hotel. We will be back on our next visit to the area.

"Family Night out"

"Wonderful stay"
Joanna H, 16 Novembre 2016

Booked last minute to be with a friend attending ARI, which is very close by. The double room was above expectation, very comfortable and slept well despite being road side. The toiletries and hamper of snacks and drinks were a wonderful touch. The dinner in the restaurant was of excellent quality and price and all staff, reception, dining room etc were friendly and helpful. Would recommend staying here.

"Never been a 4 star"
ParkerManther, 02 Novembre 2016

Im not one to normally complain but i feel i need to share the poor experience i had in this establishment. The room smelt of spanish drains. there were scum marks around the bath and seamen stains on the upholstery. the heating was uncontrollable and on full blast to make it feel even more like been in hell. The restaurant fine dining was more like microwave meal city at the best and the breakfast was dried up slop. I know ive been a bad lad in my time but this has to be a life changing experience as i dont want to go to hell after a visit over the last 24 hours Parker Manther will not be stopping here again

"Excellent. Value for Money"
Ram S, 02 Octobre 2016

Nice Facility. Enjoyed Staying. Excellent Food. Very Good Wi-Fi speed. Neat and clean room. Enough fruit juice, Mineral water and snacks available free in the room. Courtesy and Hospitality of staff is remarkable. Felt like staying at home.

caroline f, 27 Septembre 2016

Went this hotel as going to a wedding nearby. Excellent location. Very clean. Lovely hamper in room on arrival. Staff very helpful. Did not have breakfast but was offered one. Tea and coffee in the room. Got an early check in to get ready for wedding

"Great Value for Money"
James B, 25 Septembre 2016

My Mum and I weren't sure about the hotel at first as we parked in the somewhat sketchy and crowded car park behind the hotel, but the rooms were clean and comfy and the staff were super friendly. You get a lot for your money considering the cost and there's a lot included in your stay. It would have been nice to know what breakfast cost before agreeing to have it charged to the room, but it wasn't ridiculously expensive or anything.

"Friendly Staff & wonderful rooms"
L R, 20 Septembre 2016

Booked a family room for Saturday night. We were warned that due to a function the hotel might be slightly noisy, this was not our experience & corridors ensure no noise. Family room is spacious, beds really comfortable & the welcome hamper was filled with thoughtful extras; hot chocolate, biscuits, water, crisps & chocolate. Staff were all very friendly & helpful.

"Excellent Hotel but dodgy area"
Rickdekikkerfanclub, 15 Septembre 2016

I cannot fault the hotel, the staff were great, the rooms well equipped and the beds really comfortable. You even get a mars bar, packet of crisps, 2 packets of biscuits, 2 kitkats, carton of orange and apple juice plus bottled water every day - truly excellent. The food in the restaurant was very good but to not have cheesecake that is on the menu for 3 days on the trot was a bit lazy. The only real downside to this hotel is the area it is in. The car park is a retail car park in a run down area and the walk from car park to hotel can be intimidating. I would certainly not recommend this hotel to single females and would definitely not venture out at night. If you can live with the car parking a truly excellent hotel.

"Lovely experience"
topsy2, 03 Septembre 2016

Very comfortable hotel. Spotless room/bathroom, super comfy bed, lots of lovely snacks! Very pleasant, polite and helpful staff. Very convenient location for ARI, only two bus stops along the road.Would def stay again.

"Problems with breakfast!"
Dawn G, 28 Août 2016

We stayed at this hotel because we had a family celebration. The room was fantastic with a complimentary basket of goodies, the function room was amazing, even though the Bar Manager didn't t know and had never heard of Bombay Sapphire Gin! We arrived for breakfast at a reasonable time, but had to wait for ages for bacon , sausages etc and some of the guests didn't even get any breakfast. Don't know what kind of chef they had but it wasn't a very good one as when the bacon did arrive it wasn't cooked properly and still awaiting the sausages!!! We had been told by a guest that the breakfasts were very good. It's a shame that the breakfast serving let this hotel down otherwise they would have been given full marks!

"Very good"
Merlin W, 24 Août 2016

For a short stay, on business, this is a solid option. Basic, as is to be expected from the price, but really good value for money and pushed well above average thanks to the quality of service and general attitude of the staff.

"Honest review "
Ally Nicoya M, 21 Août 2016

We checked in at 10pm, receptionist very helpful, advised us of a function which was happening in hotel - no noise was heard during our stay. Room was perfect for what we needed, double bed and 2 single beds for a family of 4 - all of us slept very well. Nice little complementary hamper of water, crisps, biscuit and a sweet - nice touch. Breakfast was basic but more than enough choice, waitress was very friendly. Would stay here again, and recommend to friends and family. Good location for anyone visiting ARI, only a 5 minute drive away.

"essential stay"
Donald G, 20 Août 2016

Fine for what it was but location and breakfast let it down. Breakfast food was poor. Location was close to where I needed to be but it is not a part of Aberdeen I would normally choose to visit. I went Airbnb for the further 3 nights I was in he city which was a better experience

"first impressions can be deceptive"
lunnys, 17 Août 2016

As many people have said the look of the outside of this hotel is not the best or its location however i couldn't fault this hotel at all. I arrives late due to train delays but the front staff were very pleasant and had already asked for a quiet room which was given 210 at end of corridor very clean room and large bathroom. Added bonus of a snack basket and bottled water. Breakfast in the morning was very busy as they had a tour in but i sat in the adjacent room with a couple of other people and this wasn't a problem. Breakfast was served hot by happy staff. Overall great hotel and will use again when i up in Aberdeen

"Good value, helpful staff"
RJT102, 14 Août 2016

Staying for a course on campus, good location for that, easily walkable. Early flight, staff were very helpful and allowed early check in. Small room, but comfortable and clean. Bit unsightly from the outside.

"Very good"
David R, 10 Août 2016

We were a bit put off by the parking area, to the rear of the hotel. However, the interior more than made up for it. It was immaculately clean and the staff were very good. Special mention for Debbie who poured us drinks at 9pm and was there for breakfast the next morning! Breakfast was good. Room was very comfortable and the freebies most welcome. Bathroom was immaculate.

"Surprising Oasis of Calm"
K S, 02 Août 2016

My initial impression of this property wasn't good; I took the last spot in the parking lot and heard a disturbance going on with loud voices. I watched for a while and decided it was harmless enough, gestures and insults but no punches being thrown, so I decided to keep a low profile while making my way through the short tunnel to the door. Once inside, I was relieved to find a deluxe business class hotel with uniformed, well mannered staff. I was shown to a clean, spacious and quiet room with a modern bathroom, and it faced away from the car park and onto Lang Stracht, which suited me. There was a kettle and basket of treats in the room, very welcoming. There is a lift, but it stops at the mezzanine level where there is a ballroom. When I was there, an event was taking place with well dressed people of all ages, i.e. families. From the mezzanine, one then walks up the stairs to where the rooms are. My sense of the outside area is that is may be a neighborhood on the upswing. If the vacant stores below the hotel find tenants then the area will be better kept and vibrant. If it weren't for the area immediately around the hotel, I would have rated it excellent as it was a very good value.

"Excellent"
Panda-moniam, 30 Juillet 2016

First visit was I stayed 3 nights with a friends engagement party on the Saturday night Tho they were really busy booking in was no problems, the room was ready. Spotlessly clean, the bathroom was ideal, the room spot on and the bed comfortable Although there were events on the room was quiet and there was no trouble The staff were superb My second stay a month later the receptionist remembered me, and the restaurant served excellent food Breakfast both stays were good, and I can't find one negative thing to say

"Mostly enjoyable."
AberdeenFalkirk, 20 Juillet 2016

The room was lovely and the basket of goodies very welcome. However..... The car park is scruffy and having to walk through a dark tunnel past drinkers standing outside a pub to smoke was daunting. The entrance outside could do with a good clean as the ramp was slippery .When I booked I explained that one of the party had mobility problems but was told that would be alright as there was a lift. Yes there was, but we still had to walk up a flight of stairs to get to our rooms. Although assisted by a staff member this made it difficult for our elderly lady to go to and from her room. When booking in I asked why I had been informed wrongly the receptionist just shrugged and gave a most insincere apology which I took to mean ...so what.

"Much better than expected"
Hilary F, 15 Juillet 2016

Well. I was very anxious to find I had been booked in here after reading the reviews. Please don't take them all at face value. OK the parking area is grim and the walkway to the front of the hotel makes you fear the worst. Once inside I was greeted warmly at reception. Check in was quick and easy. The room was large and the bathroom was fine. The hamper is lovely with lots of goodies. The best I have come across. There is a fridge in the room along with a hairdryer and lots of toiletries. I had a reasonably priced tasty meal in the lounge in the evening served by courteous and friendly staff. I slept well, it was very quiet - some road noise but not anything to worry about. TV worked perfectly, lots of hot water for the shower. Breakfast was great - fresh fruit salad and eggs cooked to order. No issues at all.

"Looks do deceive"
iantoes, 03 Juillet 2016

Booked here as I have been a BW customer for many years. Received an email a few days before saying that due to functions a couple of nights would be nosier than usual. Asked for a room out of the noise we must have had one as didn't here a pin drop. Don't let surroundings worry you easy taxi to town, staff were great room very comfortable.

"Don't judge a book by its cover."
Tony S, 26 Juin 2016

I was here for a period of 2 nights while in the area for business. Lets start off with the obvious drawback which is the outside and location. The hotel is not in the best area and the carpark is a shared one with local shops, takeaways and a Heron Frozen food. The car park is VERY busy on my 2nd night I had to park on the road away from the hotel as I couldn't find a space. Under the hotel is a pub that when speaking to locals describe as the place you go when you are barred from everywhere else. Location wise it doesn't feel very safe or secure at all I have to say. However on the inside things are better. The hotel is nice with some lovely touches like a basket on arrival in room which I have stayed in ALOT of hotels and never had this. The room was nice enough, with a decent bathroom and staff seemed nice. Bed was pretty comfy and a nice temp in the room too. The wifi was good and the actual cost of the hotel is really good for the Aberdeen area. However sound proofing between rooms was terrible I decided to stop an extra night instead of going home and I was kept up all night by someone with the TV on SO LOUD instantly regretted that decision. Food wise the bar was nice, decent value and the foot was pretty nice, and the service was really good too. One of the let downs was breakfast which was very cheap I didn't even eat the sausages as they tasted so bad. Overall I wouldn't say I had the best experience here, but its not too bad for Aberdeen, the hamper was a nice touch and if it was in a bit of a better location it would have scored higher.

"Don't judge it by the exterior... "
Robert R, 21 Juin 2016

I have to concur with other reviews regarding the setting, exterior... From front or rear it looks like a set from Mad Max/dystopian drama. At my first glance of where I had been booked into my heart sank - BUT, and it's a big but, I cannot lie... The inside, staff and service are great. Forget the bland, dark brown cardboard box exterior and revel in warm friendly service, and a clean, well-appointed interior (though a bit rough and faded in places - what do you expect, it's not the Ritz, nor is it pretending to be). That said however the "welcome basket" and goodies in the mini fridge were well above what some fancier chains supply. If want a warm, bright, friendly, unpretentious place to crash for a few days in Aberdeen could do a lot worse than here... Their own restaurant was shut when I stayed but as a bonus there is a Dominoes pizza outlet a few doors down.

"overnight stay"
Ann S, 20 Juin 2016

The hotel itself is fine, rooms are perfectly adequate and has a hamper with a few goodies in it that we have never had in a hotel before. The reception staff were very nice as well and helped you if required. The down side was the breakfast, very cheap ingredients not nice atall. The staff at breakfast wasnt very pleasant either,if you asked for anything it was done grudgingly. The car park at the back leaves a lot to be desired as well, didnt seem very safe atall

"Excellent Value"
brendamV5177KF, 12 Juin 2016

My partner and I spent 2 nights in a a double room in this , excellent value hotel. The hotel is modern and our room was well equipped with a lovely impressive complimentary hamper filled with snacks and drinks and a fridge to cool your drinks which was a nice touch , the bed was comfortable and the room immaculate . Food and drinks in the bar and restaurant was lovely and good value . The hotel was a 10 minute car ride to the city centre , with a bus stop also outside .We will certainly book this hotel again the next time we are in Aberdeen .

"Don't judge a book by its cover. "
Ian C, 07 Juin 2016

Don't judge a book by its cover or in this case by impressions from the outside. I mean that as no disrespect to the people who work here but we all do it at times. Inside is fresh, clean and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are well equipped with free bottled water and snacks, comfy bed and a brilliant shower in the bathroom. Breakfast is in a light and spacious public area. Good well cooked and presented choice and eggs cooked to order! Overall, if you're in Aberdeen and looking for a quality hotel with out pretensions this certainly delivers.

"Excellent staff, friendly and accomodating"
Katy M, 06 Juin 2016

Don't be fooled by the exterior of this hotel. This is a gem, and it's mainly due to the excellence of the staff. Friendly, accomodating, and efficient. Add to this a very good quality of interior, comfy beds and everything you'd expect in a guest room. Don't hesitate to book.

"Don't let the exterior put you off"
Anthony S, 30 Mai 2016

Lovely modern hotel on the inside. Outside not so good but don't let that put you off. Nice welcome hamper in your room which is replenished everyday. Clean room, lovely comfy bed, fridge in the room which was a bonus. Good priced bar downstairs serving good valued food. Excellent staff.

"Great Value"
Norma R, 27 Mai 2016

We spent two nights here in a twin suite. Found it very useful to have the kitchen facilities as there was a hospital visit involved. Handy for ARI as its only about a twenty minute walk. Staff were excellent very cheerful and helpful..

"Great base for aberdeen"
Douglas from Gl... Y, 20 Mai 2016

Couple of miles from centre, but good value, great staff in reception and bar dining area. Excellent supplies of sweeties in rooms. Rooms clean and well appointed. Wifi connection not as good as could be, poor reception. Parkin at rear of hotel.

"Worst hotel ever"
Sirrel1509, 11 Mai 2016

I was staying last Tuesday and ended up with severe food poison, the food was horrible and I was ill with severe stomach pains with the diahrea and being sick every 2 minutes, I had a couple of pints of tennents lager, it was flat and the glasses were filthy, the restaurant manager was just an ignorant woman, there were never no waiting staff around to get me a drink, my room must of had water damage as the smell of mould was overwhelming, I stay in hotels all the time and never saw nothing like it in the UK before, one to stay away from guys!!!

"Ignore the Outside - Inside is GREAT!"
loobay, 29 Avril 2016

Drove up in sleet and snow - outside of the hotel and the carpark and looked really depressing. BUT - Walked in very early for check in and was allowed to a room early after they checked it had been fully serviced. Friendly on reception - Didn't really understand why the restaurant wasn't serving dinner that night - but was notified of it at check in and wasn't planning on it anyway. Got to room - really pleasantly surprised! Welcome letter and a Mars Bar on the Bed, Clean, modern room, with a wicker hamper of goodies and more in the fridge! Oreos, biscuits, crisps, juices, kit kats - above and beyond in a really unpretentious manner! Lovely clean bathroom - Gilchrist and Soames toiletries! - Shower has a good heavy flow of water that heated to a reasonable temperature (I could have handled hotter... but I like mine nigh scalding!) given reasonable couple of minutes Excellent Value - especially as a single person in a double room.

"A very nice, friendly hotel"
Carocgb, 25 Avril 2016

I stayed here several times over a period of two weeks, because of a family event. From the outside, the hotel is a tribute to the worst of 1970s architecture, but inside it is a great little hotel. I stayed in a single and a suite. Each room was clean and well-appointed. I was expecting a decent 3-star stay, yet each room had a wicker basket of cookies, crisps, bottled water and coffee/tea/hot chocolate sachets and all was free!! The single room needed a few housekeeping touches (curtain needed to be hooked up, etc), but these were really minot points (I am trying to be fair). The bathrooms in both rooms here spotless and, while there is a nice Dove soap dispenser in the shower, they also set out little bottles of toiletries. I did not feel that they were pinching pennies. The buffet breakfasts were very nice: cold and hot food, and they changed enough every day, so i was never bored. Rather than the usual hotel warming-dish of tepid scambled eggs, they cooked each egg order fresh, and that made all the difference. The staff were, to a man and woman, cheerful, helpful, and really nice. I should add that I had a peek at their function room while it was being set up for a party and it is a great space. They were decorating it beautifully. I'd be happy to have a recption or celebration there! My room was just down the hall and I did not hear a peep. You can park by the tiny shopping area behind the hotel for free. This is not a great shopping area, and some might feel it a bit rough, but i liked being able to get a pizza (choose the independnt pizza place!) and pharmacy. This hotel is very close to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. You can walk there is you can walk a mile. It is on two major roads and so is not in quaint Old Aberdeen, but as a comfortable place with fast access out to the countryside, you can't beat it. I intend to stay there again. What is lacks in outer beauty, it makes up with a warm heart.

"Clean, spacious room"
Stephanie M, 25 Avril 2016

Don't be put off by the peculiar architecture! Have stayed here 4 times and every time it is very clean with lots of complimentary goodies and an excellent breakfast buffet with eggs cooked to order. Staff are professional, friendly and very helpful.

"Excellent"
John M, 23 Avril 2016

Excellent place to stay. Doesn't look good from the outside but staff are great and the service provided is excellent. Hamper in room on arrival is a great touch. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The new breakfast layout is great too.

"Disabled friendly... Nope!"
Android2015, 23 Avril 2016

So I booked this hotel with advice when calling my room would be disabled friendly with walk in shower.... Car park would be easily accessible to main entrance Car park was not easy at all to get to hotel. The ramp too was extremely tight and the turns not suitable for a solo wheelchair user or mobility scooter. The doors don't have electronic opening. So if alone, you can get in or through any doors as they are all heavy The bathroom was a step up shower despite checking on phone before coming. Staff are lovely which I experienced but my uncle last night was greeted by a staff member coming from the bar to ask what he wanted whilst holding his pint! Great! Will be interesting how rest of stay goes but so far it's not ideal.

"Best Hotel to Stay"
Faisal S, 16 Avril 2016

This was my one of best experience in any Hotel. I really like the room, Kitchen and customer service. They have provided everything in a room. In the middle of aberdeen. parking was free. shops are close. It has everything that you wish for and it has a free wifi. lovely staff. Just a one word. Excellent

"overnight stay in Aberdeen"
K7247PTpatriciap, 11 Avril 2016

Found this hotel to be extremely clean and comfortable, staff very well mannered and welcoming, very helpful and went out of their way to make sure my stay was a good one. Breakfast has a large selection of choice to suit anyone, fresh fruit, yogurt, jams and honey, toast , full breakfast and more, could not fault this hotel.

"Extras Galore / Fantastic room"
Colin H, 10 Avril 2016

I was awed by the room I was put in whilst on Business in Aberdeen - compared to may it was massive and had a near Kitchen Area to boot! Cupboards with Cutlery & Crockery, a Microwave, work surface & Sink and a Fridge. The welcome basket housed Crisps, choc bars, biscuits and both Sparkling & Still Water. There were more chocolates in the Fridge along with more bottles of water, Apple Juice & Orange Juice - amazing freebies! The room was spotlessly clean and the only one issue was the Microwave was out of service - not that I was going to use it. Evening meal in the restaurant was average, breakfast was much better and I gorged on it! Staff were also very friendly and helpful.

"weekend break"
Gerrard T, 08 Avril 2016

very enjoyable stay at beautiful hotel. amazing breakfast. fantastic value for money. a little bit out of town but regular bus service right outside hotel door and can get a day ticket for only £4 for unlimited use on bus

"Staff are excellent"
ScotlandNicky7, 06 Avril 2016

This is our 3rd stay here. I must say disappointed this time. This was the worst room we have stayed in it was smaller than the last two and the shower tray was badly chipped and it had ground in dirt. We also discovered under the sink the bin in the cupboard hadn't been emptied and by the smell of it not for a few days!! We had no warning that their was a 18th birthday party on the same night we stayed even when we checked in we were not told. We discovered it by ourselves when we went down the stairs and saw the banners on the function room doors. It didn't really matter to us much as we were going out anyway. But we arrived back to a lot of young people hanging around smoking, spitting outside the door we had our child with us so he felt a bit wary walking past them. When my husband went down a bit later to go outside for a smoke he got insulted by one of the young people he was wearing his Help for Heroes top on and they insulted him for being a soldier. But the good thing about the room is that we didn't hear the music from the party or any of the outside noise as our room faced the back of the hotel. So we got to sleep alright and I was woken up by someone or some people shouting in the corridor outside our room in the early hours. We complained to reception about the shouting and my husband getting insulted when we checked out, the receptionist was very apologetic and took note of our complaint. When we arrived home we got an email from the manager apologising again. I was really impressed with the way the staff dealt with the complaint.

"FISHY CROUTONS!!!"
pete0912, 30 Mars 2016

The food in this hotel is bordering on illegal . I have been staying here for around 3 weeks now through the my choice of my company logistics team (not me) My first night I ordered a Caesar salad as a I thought I'd go for the only "healthy option" on the menu . When it arrived the lettuce was brown edged and saggy, the chicken was dry and the croutons seemed to have been deeped fried in the same frier they done the fish as they tasted like haddock . This ain't masterchef, I know, but I spent the rest of my night contemplating what John and Greg would've made of all this. The food hasn't got any better, between me and my workmates we have not been fed one decent meal in 3 weeks. Last night was the final straw , my friend , who used to be in the navy and was basically served sawdust for 10 years, was given a house burger with bacon. The burger was served cold and pink in the middle and the bacon was completely raw. He complained which doesn't seem to make any difference here. We are now speaking to our logistics manager to tell him we don't want booked into the Summerhill again as the food is an absolute disgrace . We are workmen and easily pleased, my dogs wouldn't be pleased by this food.

"Thoughtful extras"
L R, 23 Mars 2016

I stayed in this hotel overnight on the 22nd March. We were allocated a suite and it had everything that you would need for a longer stay; good storage, fridge, microwave and very comfortable beds. Lovely complimentary extras; bottled water, biscuits, crisps, good selection of tea and coffee. Free wifi and tv with free view. The reception is very welcoming and good selection of newspapers available. The early morning call was a human voice which is preferable to the automated message given in so many hotels. A great choice of breakfast items. All staff very friendly. I definitely recommend this hotel

"Not picturesque but decent honest & reasonably priced."
Angus D, 21 Mars 2016

Nothing particularly redeeming about the hotel externally as next to busy A944 & a depressing social housing estate with hotel car park part of a dodgy looking mini-shopping precinct. Nevertheless the hotel inside is welcoming comfortable & clean with bedrooms modern & of reasonable size. Enjoyed a thoroughly decent evening meal, breakfast was absolutely fine as well. Other than being almost put-off from what's outside the hotel is decent honest & reasonably priced.

"Nice hotel with good reception staff"
ukguyz, 18 Mars 2016

Stayed here during a recent trip to Aberdeen for family function. This hotel looks better on the inside than the outside. Check in was super fast and friendly. Room was a decent size with a comfortable double bed. What let it down was the lack of finishing touches. No bed side lights only super bright ceiling lights. TV remote did not work. No soap or shower gel in bathroom. The general finish of the bathroom was very poor with patched holes in tiled floor and a badly marked bath. And if you are good to use the bath to shower supply a shower mat as I almost fell over when showering on the slippy bath. In general found housekeeping standards to be a hit or miss in this hotel. Would we stay here again probably yes.

"Great Value for money"
lurv2travel, 14 Mars 2016

Friendly helpful staff and a great hotel with a regular bus service outside the door and free parking. I was also emailed in advance as the hotel had a function on during our stay. Free wi-fi is great. Shame that there was no soap supplied during our 2 day stay and no shower gel until our second day. Breakfast has a fair variety of cereals and some fruit. Toast available and eggs cooked fresh and whichever way you like them. Good variety of cooked food and tea/coffees or apple/orange juice.

"Best for Comfort"
Loreen D, 06 Mars 2016

I stayed here for two nights this week and was pleasantly surprised to find it more than lived up to the excellent reviews I'd read beforehand.Receptionists were welcoming and helpful, the hotel was very fresh and clean inside. Corridors were tiled, with a central carpet. This looked very attractive. The room had everything we needed, and more. It was spacious, with so much more storage space than is normal. The carpet was very clean, the windows double glazed, the bed large and comfortable. The mini kitchen was a pleasant bonus, with microwave, fridge, sink and additional cupboards ( cutlery and china provided). The complimentary hamper had an assortment of biscuits, bottles of water ( and more chilling in the fridge), Mars bar, crisps, KitKats.Three chairs, a desk, a table, at least seven lights and a modern flat screen TV, iron and board, hairdryer and kettle. Excellent provision. The buffet breakfast was of a good quality and again, the staff were pleasant. Both the breakfast and the evening menus appeared to offer very good value for money. The shower room was very clean. The extractor fan worked! A minor quibble, Room 318 had a very narrow shower and was quite high off the ground. Being on the small side made movement difficult. I also encountered a very friendly and helpful housekeeper. Certainly an hotel I'd be very happy to use again.I find its three star rating very misleading and can't see why it isn't four star.

"Business trip"
Nick A, 23 Février 2016

Good hotel, staff lovely. Food good and let lot read wine nice and also not expensive. Parking in public car park. Rooms nice size and fitted out with kitchenette facilities. Decent double bed, firm and comfortable, plenty of space to spread out. Nice to see iron and ironing board available in the room and if you rang reception they would bring fresh milk which made the a cup of tea that bit better. Showers both body and over head. Slow wifi but usable.

"Cozy"
simon j, 23 Février 2016

Stayed here in January while there was gale force winds. Fine and warm inside. The fridge was stocked with sweets and drinks, no alcohol. Mini kitchen in my room. Freeview TV and free WiFi. Outside there is a Dominos Pizza, a takeaway and a few shops. I ate in the hotel, food was excellent, it all came to about £22. That was starter, main and desert with a coke. Breakfast was a buffet style, really good.

"Our Weekend Stay"
Jan B, 21 Février 2016

What a great place, the rooms were tastefully decorated, clean and there great complimentary snack and drinks. The staff were very pleasant and nothing was a problem for them. Overall great place with great staff. Well done and we will be back.

"Let down"
alyaudbod, 17 Février 2016

Lovely decorated rooms with excellent facilities but I'm afraid let down by restaurant which was extremely cold. The staff were huddled around a radiator to stay warm shame guests couldn't do the same. Food was also well below an acceptable standard. You could break your teeth on the mushrooms, the fish was swimming in grease so much that it should really have been served on a bath towel to soak it up! Lasagne looked a week old!

"Was impressed "
Bryan G, 09 Février 2016

Don't let the location of this hotel put you off. Inside its clean tidy, comfortable with some nice touches. It puts other more expensive hotels to shame. Food in the restaurant was good, staff were friendly and the place had a nice atmosphere. Rooms were spacious clean with good showers and other amenities. The complimentary baskets in the room also a nice touch.

"Great Budget Hotel"
Karen B, 27 Janvier 2016

Do not be put off by the location and exterior of the hotel. This was a great value stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and clean. There was an event going on when we stayed and did not hear a thing. There is a complimentary basket with free drinks (non-alcoholic!), chocolate and crsips. I have never stayed in a hotel which provides these type of freebies. I would not hesitate to stay here again. Just one thing to be aware of, if you get the bus into the city centre, you need exact change. We weren't aware of this, so caused us a bit of a problem.

"Puts others to shame"
paulwN3360TF, 26 Janvier 2016

The value for money is fantastic and the service on the frequent occasions ive been a guest at this hotel is second to none if only others were more like it as i travel frequently for business i know full well its a cut above the rest many mucch more expensive places.

"Breath of fresh air"
mark w, 11 Janvier 2016

Hats off to the summerhill hotel and staff. I can't fault my stay here. Having stayed in various hotels around aberdeen and enjoyed none as most staff and hotels don't care in Aberdeen as the hotels are busy anyway. I found my stay here first class. I will be recommending to my boss that in future I wish to use this hotel each time I stay in Aberdeen. Check in staff was great ensuring I had all information. Breakfast and evening meals have been fantastic. And the restaurant staff are very pleasant and helpful nothing was to much trouble. The room was fantastic clean tidy and even a power socket next to bed side which you can't get in Aberdeen hotels. Spacious car park where I found it no problem to park. Truly the best stay I have had in Aberdeen. Thanks. Mark

"Booked at the last minute."
Osso59, 05 Janvier 2016

Having booked at the last minute the hotel was not a choice I would not normally make as it is in Aberdeen itself. When visiting the area I would normally stay further out of the city by choice. On arrival I was highly impressed with the greeting and that my room was upgraded without my request. This level of service continued through out my stay. This extended to the individually cooked breakfast on Christmas morning. The rooms are of a high standard and housekeeping over the holiday period maintained this. My room was set out as a mini suite with very generous facilities. The complementary items are numerous and reflect the generosity of the hotel and the staff's attitude. I am highly impressed by this hotel and the facilities it offers. I will be booking the hotel in the future.

"very good value for money"
K7247PTpatriciap, 04 Janvier 2016

this hotel and its staff cannot be faulted for comfort , value for money and good manners of the staff who go out of their way to help., the rooms are spacious, clean and have added complimentary baskets with numerous snacks for people who get the munchies, fridge to keep your bottles of water in and anything else you want to keep cool.

"Great value and service in Aberdeen"
OurmaninHK, 03 Janvier 2016

Booked a last minute stay and couldn't have asked for a better value hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful, room well appointed. Complimentary snacks were a nice touch. Free in-room internet worked well. Breakfast was excellent. Would certainly stay here again.

"Quiet Hotel best sleep I have had in ages."
ScotlandNicky7, 01 Janvier 2016

We stayed a family room and I must say it is a very spacious family room and the bathroom has a bath & shower. When I saw that the room faced onto the road I needed of worried as it didn't effect us you hardly heard any of the traffic noise. My little boy slept like a log the best he has slept in a hotel ever. The beds were comfy as I slept pretty well too and the hotel was quite quiet. The double bed was tucked in round the corner from the door so I didn't hear any corridor noise. The only thing disappointing was the cleanliness of the floor and the bathroom floor somebody must have had a party in the room as it was full of glitter and sequins. Also the bath had small hairs in it so that put me off having a shower. Only other drawback from being in a family room is when you come out of the lift you still have some stairs to climb to get to your room which wouldn't be good if you have heavy luggage and kids. I was a bit disappointed in the breakfast we have stayed in other Best Western's and the breakfast was far better in other ones. I don't eat a cooked breakfast so the options for Continental were limited and it was tinned fruit that was out. No Wheat Free option at all either I noticed. The milk was not labelled either so you didn't know if it was full milk or semi skimmed etc. The staff that took the orders for eggs etc weren't exactly cheery and I felt like we they were watching us all the time. Very nice touch having the hamper in the room and the goodies that were in it were very welcome especially by my little boy. You also have a fridge in the room which is very handy too. The only thing that I would change is the soap in the bathroom should be a liquid soap not a bar of soap.

"Hogmany party "
Sonya C, 31 Décembre 2015

We got married here 5 years ago and organised a new years eve party to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. It's a great hotel and so stylish inside compared to the outside. Lauren the events organiser was great and very helpful. The staff that was on were also great. The rooms are large and very clean a day come with bathrobes and toiletries. A lovely food/drink basket is in the room which is great for a midnight snack. The breakfast is good and also a great choice. Highly recommend this hotel for functions or a stop over.

"suprising"
Bigai, 12 Décembre 2015

Booked into this hotel by the work, Arrived at about 1900hrs and had an absolute nightmare getting parked, You have to try to get into a public car park at the side/back of the hotel so is very limited. The hotel /rooms and food is very nice and the staff helpful once they get off the phone. Got a pleasant suprise in the room there is a hamper with snacks and drinks and a fridge with the same which I was not charged for,

"Very nice room"
WALADD, 11 Décembre 2015

I arrived just before 9pm, having flown into Aberdeen. Unfortunately the restaurant had stopped serving food so was a little disappointed as starving, there was a pizza place next door so got food from there. The bar area was still serving but not the best service. The room however was lovely, large with a kitchenette area - had I known I could have bought something to put in the microwave. There was a fridge with water in and a nice little hamper with other goodies. The bathroom was adequate, shower only no bath, robes and toiletries available. Breakfast was ok, eggs cooked to order, fresh coffee.

"Receptionist awfully moody"
susanmac74, 08 Décembre 2015

I was up staying a few days ago it's a really horrible building out side but in side it's rather nice, but a member of staff that was on the reception desk (becca) was rather rude I never got greated by a smile from her at all nor did she say hi to me she pretty much just gave me my room key and told me my room number, but the room was clean and the house keeping staff where so friendly I'd probably come back again hoping I get greeted better as I arrive

"Restaurant review only - not the hotel"
Anne C, 29 Novembre 2015

Six Ladies had a get together for a catch-up and decided to try the restaurant here, fortunately for this restaurant 4 of us were driving so the fact that they had run out of red wine since Saturday (this was Wed.) only affected 1 of us, we all chose a main, 2 of our party chose the fajitas and when they came they lacked the usual bright colour as they were missing peppers!!! The dishes were returned to the kitchen, quite some time later the Waitress returned to inform us they had run out of peppers so the dishes were returned to the diners as they didn't want to wait any longer, the rest of the party had enjoyed their meals and we even managed a sweet but grilled the waitress to see what each of our chosen dishes were and if they were available before ordering. We were given a fairly good discount for the inconvenience when our bill came without being asked. This is a reasonably priced restaurant, average meal around £10 and would be worth a try as long as they have ample provisions. Ironically I was taking a call the next day from a customer who had been in the restaurant the same time as us as he was staying in the hotel, he also had the fajitas and did not have a good word for them, at breakfast the next day he had asked for a poached egg but they had run out of eggs!!!!!

"Fabulous value, a real gem!!!"
Paula I, 01 Novembre 2015

We booked this for a Saturday night and it was £35 for a double room!! We have passed the hotel frequently and it is not very pretty from the outside. However, the room was modern, clean had lots of nice extras e.g. Crisps biscuits water, fabulous selection. You can request fresh milk which I did and would have been much better in a jug, pouring from a glass was a bit tricky. Although we did not eat here the restaurant and bar area looked nicely set out. Their High tea deal is £7.50 for a main then cakes scones and a pot of tea or coffee, would like to try that. Hotel staff were very friendly. They contacted us prior to our stay to warn us of a function being held which did not affect us but great customer service. Highly recommended.

"Value for Money"
Amy M, 14 Octobre 2015

My husband and I stayed here as it was my friends 40th party (also at the hotel). I had heard a few things about the hotel that were pretty negative before we stayed and to be honest wasn't particularly looking forward to the stay. However when we got arrived we were so surprised at how nicely decorated the hotel was, the receptionist was friendly and check in was very quick. Our room was clean, fresh and modern with a hamper packed with complimentary goodies such as water, coffee and crisps (a very nice touch). There was also plenty of amenities in the room including a microwave. The party was in a great room and the bar staff did a great job. Breakfast the next day was also great, plenty of choice. Most importantly the price was great too, especially for Aberdeen. Will stay again. Thank you

"Don't judge a book by its cover"
Danny C, 09 Octobre 2015

As others have said already first impressions aren't always to be believed. I have stayed here on a couple of occasions and have no complaints. Let's start with the rooms Very clean Well decorated Large rooms Complimentary basket in your room (crisps, chocolate, biscuits, bottled water etc) Bar Like all hotels in Aberdeen the bar area tends to be predominately single guys having a last supper and a beer before heading off shore. (This is not in any way rowdy) The bar Is normally empty by 930 unless there is a big game on. The food is of a decent standard and reasonable priced. Ok let's talk about the exterior...... The car parking is surrounding by a less than salubrious shopping area but I have never seen or heard of and intimidation or crime on any of my visits. I have even left my car with large cardboard boxes on display and all has been ok. Chill out it'll be fine!!! This is my hotel of choice for staying in Aberdeen.

"Poor Location and most staff need training"
tudan, 07 Octobre 2015

As other reviews have said, This hotel looks like a dump from the outside. Inside its very different, rooms are small but recently furnished, Shower in bathroom is a joke - Twiggy would toil to get between the doors for a shower. Room very small and bed very uncomfortable. Had dinner in hotel, ordered prawn cocktail - surly polish waiter came back and said sorry but out of prawn cocktail ,how do you run out of prawn cocktail? who doesnt have frozen prawns and mayonaise! . Ordrered Pate instead - served slab of cheap nasty bought in pate with 3 scabby oatcakes. Presentation was a laugh. and waiting staff are so dour and unfriendly. Same waiter at breakfast along with another cheerless eastern european member of staff. The manager was very professional and she was trying to get them to smile as she was the only well trained member of staff. This is the hospitality business but felt more like a prison with their moody staff. All in Very average. only reason it does not get a terrible rating is that rooms are recently decorated. apart from that it was not a pleasant stay. Wont be back plenty of other far better hotels in Aberdeen to stay in . On checkout I was not asked how my stay was at hotel by short blond haired receptionist, this is basic stuff best western Please train your staff properly!

"Excellent Location, very pleasant hotel"
mousiecefor, 30 Septembre 2015

Very well kept hotel, offering ample parking, good size rooms, superb bathroom facilities with power showers that do exactly what they say. Breakfast has a very good selection of hot, cold, , pastries, bread etc, really good quality. Dinner, a little disappointed, very standard, would have expected a trawlers platter to have some salad to accompany. Staff all friendly and helpful, internet connection very good. Will certainly stay at the hotel in the future

"Stay at the Sumerhill Hotel & Suites"
Raymond S, 30 Septembre 2015

We stayed at this hotel as we were attending a wedding in the area. The hotel hasn't got kerb appeal also next to a run down shopping centre which was the car park you had to use. We also found the staff with no welcoming hospitality. The staff seem to wear what they wanted which looks so shabby. The service at breakfast was very poor ran out of items half an hour before end of service and lacked hospitality..Chef should have known the day before the head count for next morning and catered accordingly. The rooms were clean and comfortable which is the only thing going for this hotel.

"Good Value For Money"

Overall an excellent stay in a very nice hotel. Staff were excellent and friendly. Room was of a high standard of cleanliness and comfort. High tea order was incomplete - i.e. no egg or pineapple or bread and butter as displayed on menu. Otherwise excellent service.

"Location leaves a bit to be desired"

The hotel offers reasonable value for money. The staff were quite friendly and helpful. As mentioned by other reviewers, an excellent high tea is available. The negatives are the location of the hotel, which is on a main road quite a distance from the center of Aberdeen so if you don't have a car you will have rely on public transport or get a cab to the city. The bus costs £2.60p each way and a Taxi is about £10 each way. The single room was quite pleasant and had a hamper stocked with all sorts of goodies in addition to the usual tea and coffee. There was a shortage of accessible power sockets. in the room in which I stayed connect so there was nowhere I could easily connect my laptop or mobile phone charger, Wi Fi was adequate and the TV ok. The bathroom although small was well stocked and had some nice touches with thing like the vanity bag, i.e. nail file cotton buds etc. Stayed September 2015, travelled solo
