"Wonderful place to stay in Zermatt"
Tridad101, 12 Mars 2024

Thank you Hotel Butterfly for an amazing week in Zermatt. Absolutely loved the hotel and I'm already booked there with a bunch of friends for next year. Great location, amazing staff, very clean rooms that are a good size, really nice breakfast buffet and excellent 4 PM tea/pastries. Location is perfect and everything else about the hotel just makes it the absolute right place to stay. We all had a very warm and welcomed feeling from everyone there. Can't wait to see everyone there next year. Thanks again for taking care of us this past week in a really special way.

"Poor receptionist"
Hlukco, 06 Mars 2024

I'm a top-producing travel advisor from the US & send clients to Switzerland regularly. This is not a hotel I will be recommending to any future clients solely based upon our experience with Doreen, the front desk receptionist. From the moment upon arrival, Doreen was less than helpful and unbelievably rude. She was especially rude to my husband, however we noticed she was friendly & helpful to a white couple next to us which leads me to believe she was racist towards African-Americans. My husband asked if the hotel had any hair conditioner for me & she had the audacity to tell him the pharmacy up the street has some and “you better hurry because they close at 6” while shooing him away. She also had an attitude when we asked for an iron and yet again when we requested a taxi for dinner. She didn't notify us when the taxi arrived and accused us of wasting their time while saying “they wanted us to pay for you because you weren't here & they were waiting”. When asked to call another, she huffed & puffed & slammed down the phone. She unfortunately was working the night shift each night so we avoided the front desk at all costs after this experience. Completely ruined the perception of the hotel overall. Raphael & each of the gentlemen in the bar/restaurant/breakfast area are a delight and very attentive/friendly. We loved our interactions with them. Service: 3stars- however Doreen gets -10. She needs customer service training and a lesson on manners/respect. If she were my employee-she would be fired IMMEDIATELY. Location: 5 stars Cleaning: 5 stars Breakfast: 5 stars Evening tea with dessert: 5 stars Train station is 2 to 4 minutes of walk which is a big plus & the hotel has an electric cart that will pick you up and drop you off w/luggage for free. They did not tell us that before arrival but they did take us to the train station at departure. Everything is in walking distance. Beds are a bit hard, only 2 pillows in the room. They do not refill the coffee & only provide instant, however there is an espresso machine in the lobby. Hot water pressure with small shower. Bathroom did smell of a strong moldy scent, however we purchased air freshner from the pharmacy per Doreen's only advice for the smell.

"Lovely and authentic alpine hotel"
HanneloreH777, 22 Février 2024

It's a lovely hotel with a very authentic alpine Swiss feel to it. Excellent location within a 3-min walk from the main train station, about 5-min to the Gornergrat train to get to the slopes and a ski bus stop to get to Sunnegga lift. Also located very centrally close to the shops, restaurants, and ski rental. Has a lovely sauna and a steam room too. Even a wood fire in the lobby in the evening. Breakfast buffet had enough variety of options for more traditional and healthier choices. Would highly recommend.

"Good hotel with slightly bad attitude from one receptionist. Luckily one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch:"
kp702019, 21 Février 2024

It was a good experience except for the departure from the hotel. We had some problems with our credit cards and we needed cash to pay the city tax. There is a very large womam wearing glasses at the reception area who instead of assisting us with our problem chose to behave in a hostile manner towards us. Only repeatedly saying “ I can do cash or card”. Thankfully another staff member assisted us in locating a bank.

"Great Location and comfortable stay"
48HTLee, 13 Janvier 2024

The hotel is conveniently located 5 min away from Zermatt station. Just 1 min to MacDonald. Rooms are a little dated frankly but clean and comfortable. We had 2 rooms for our family of 5. The breakfast spread was really good, quite a wide choice of selection of food and drinks too. Staff were polite and pleasant. Hotel is a good base to explore Zermatt and admire Matterhorn.

"Bad service"
Monz B, 09 Novembre 2023

The reception and the staff at restaurant is terrible. They are not hospitable. But the room is okay. I suggest to train your staff how to deal with people since you are in the hospitality business. Don't look down to others. You don't know who and what kind of people your dealing with. Love what you do and love your work. Smile is free and make engagement and memorable service to your guest.

"Terrible and Racist"
Dibyendu-Prasad, 03 Novembre 2023

I stayed three weeks in Switzerland this October and at six different places. I stayed with my wife there for two nights and have horrible experience in the cold winter nights. When I checked in around 6 in the evening, we were delighted with free pick up from Zermatt station. However during check in when I just asked about the type of room allotted, the receptionist rudely replied you will get what you booked. And after check in we were told about evening tea n Snacks, which were complimentary and was quite good. In the evening when I asked for an umbrella the receptionist simply denied rudely and said if you want a umbrella plz buy from outside. We don't have. This is despite they mentioned it in their notice board about availability of Umbrella. As the hotel doesn't have an air conditioning, we politely requested for fan if they are having it, again similar rude reply. It's winter if you need fresh air plz open the windows…. They have wonderful sauna facility, mentioned at their website. On the 2nd day of our stay, we asked for the same in the evening. Again rudely asked where were you during the whole day. I politely asked if any time limit is there for the same. The evening receptionist replied rudely , said they will take one hour to prepare the sauna as if we are making a crime and booked finally it for 8.00 PM. And the incident thereafter can't be thought of by a civilised person in this world. I wife politely asked at 7.50 PM whether the Sauna is ready , the receptionist rudely answered you booked it for 8.00, you will get it … And to my utter surprise she started shouting at us without any reason and immediately said if you come to the reception for a moment again she will kick us out and asked to find another hotel. That to in the middle of a Winter Night. And I found out her behaviour like this towards Indians only. For others she used to speak nicely with spending time to explain them everything…

"Good Hotel/Bad Bathroom"
JMK-Pittsburgh, 04 Octobre 2023

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. We liked the hotel but did not care for our room, primarily the bathroom. The hotel and its rooms are in good condition but dated looking (think 1970s or 80s). We stayed in a junior suite on the 5th floor (#510). The bedroom was fairly large and we had a nice balcony with two chairs. There wasn't much of a view, though, as we looked directly at another lodge. We had a large number of English tv channels which is always a plus. You only get one pillow person, though, and it's very thin and cheap. Our room was attic-like with sloped ceilings and wooden beams. It wasn't a problem in the bedroom although you could hit your head if you weren't paying attention. The beams were a huge problem in the bathroom, however. There was a beam over the toilet which is big problem for men. The bigger problem was in the shower. You had to be a contortionist to take a shower with a beam right over the shower. (See photo.) It rendered the shower semi-useless and was the worst shower I have ever had in a hotel. Aside from our bathroom the place was pretty nice. The location is ideal. It's a half-block from the main walkway and is only a 3-minute walk from the train station. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fairly ordinary but they have an afternoon tea with muffins and donuts. Their restaurant gets very good reviews although we didn't eat there, excluding breakfast. Absent the bathroom beams I would have given it a 4.

"Great location "
rupad2023, 22 Août 2023

Great location. Rooms was nice . Breakfast was good . Was nice hotel . Staff was friendly and welcoming. Near to the shoes and train station. Amazing location . Highly recommend this hotel to visitors

"Perfect in the heart of Zermatt"
Zoe82ski, 10 Août 2023

Excellent hotel and great value. The location is perfect. One street away from the Main Street, near enough yet it's peaceful. Complimentary tea and cakes served daily which is a lovely addition. Have already decided to return next year and will stay at this hote

"Best location in Zermatt"
dhc216, 10 Août 2023

"Nice and cozy stay"
Maps26738464150, 07 Juillet 2023

A comfortable stay at Zermatt. Clean and cozy room. Sky with full of stars are viewable from balcony. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. We can do self-laundry in the hotel. Breakfast is nice and location is optimum. It just 2-3 mins walk from train station. Definitely will stay at this hotel again if we make a visit to Zermatt.

"A good holiday and a good hotel - an excellent combination. "
Charles D, 01 Juillet 2023

A clean comfortable room. Excellent food, both breakfast & dinner. Attentive staff. So close to the centre of Zermatt, but quiet, and well placed for the station and the Gornergrat railway. Hope to return.

"Nice location and charming hotel"
Donna H, 20 Juin 2023

Hotel was nice and nearby to the train station, less than a five-minute walk. You are close to the main street. Loved that Zermatt is car free, so it made walking around enjoyable. You are right in the heart of everything. It seems like the hotel was being refurbished and upgraded. Our room had hardwood floors, the rooms across from us still had carpet. The rooms were spacious, beautiful, great bathroom and a rain shower. I felt like I was in a spa in my room. The view outside our balcony was other hotels, but you could still see the mountains. When people are out on their balcony, the noise does carry. We had to close our balcony door; it was still somewhat loud. Breakfast was included, along with teatime, but we were never around, too busy enjoying the town and hiking. With the hotel off the main street, it was quiet, so you probably will appreciate it. Although you can walk to the train station because it is that close, they are happy to provide shuttle service for your luggage on your departure. The staff was very helpful. I recommend the Hotel Butterfly, Zermatt.

"Superb stay"
Abhishek38, 25 Mai 2023

Amazing stay we had at the butterfly. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and the stay was very comfortable! The hotel has a good breakfast! Would highly recommend for someone coming to Zermatt to stay at Hotel Butterfly! They serve evening tea as well!

"Simply lovely hotel"
862maribeths, 27 Mars 2023

My daughter and I stayed at Hotel Butterfly for one night. We were sad we didn't stay longer! The minute you walk into the hotel you get a sense of quaintness and charm. It is a quick walk from the train station--maybe 3 minutes! The staff was welcoming and very helpful throughout our stay. The rooms are appointed well and the beds are incredibly comfortable. The morning breakfast was lovely as well. Recommend this hotel if you are traveling to Zermatt.

"Good affordable hotel in Zermatt"
lshioji, 07 Février 2023

Nice affordable hotel in Zermatt. Very clean rooms and good breakfast. The free afternoon tea was as huge plus. Very close to many train station and train up the mountain. Had nice sauna but no hot tub.

"Lovely charming hotel"
Fandiddlyaniel, 21 Janvier 2023

I visited Hotel Butterfly between the 14th-21st of January 2023. It was my first time travelling alone so I was anxious about visiting zermatt alone. From minute one from setting foot through the front door I felt welcomed by the staff. The staff were attentive, friendly. Knowledgable and most importantly warm. Anything I requested was provided immediately. I had great conversations with Ana in particular and the barmaid who I did not get their name. In terms of the facilities. The room I was allocated was lovely, spacious with a nice view from the balcony. The beds were very comfy with some of the best pillows I've had in a hotel. The bathroom featured a shower with incredible water pressure. The room felt modern and catered for my needs, as for the other facilities. The hotel has a large ski storage room that guests can use. Food: the food in the hotel was fantastic, I booked through a package deal on a half board basis and breakfasts were of a great standard. It was your standard European style continental breakfast but the quality was great. At dinner time I was provided with a set menu that included a buffet style starter or a various starter that changed each day. And then main dishes consisted of a choice of meats. I ate some of my best meals in recent memory during my stay, taste, presentation and portion sizes were all excellent. Location: Hotel Butterfly is located roughly 2 minutes walk from Zermatt train station, The gornergrat station is across the road from the train station so similar walking time. Walking time to Sunnegga station was roughly 10 minutes. And the Ski bus location is next to the gornergrat station which takes you to the Matterhorn glacier paradise. I can't fault the location. It made getting around zermatt very quick and effortless. Overall I loved my stay in Hotel Butterfly and should I return to Zermatt in the future, Hotel Butterfly would be the first place I would look into staying

"Great location, comfortable room, and fantastic service"
WCGood67, 13 Janvier 2023

We took an overnight trip from Zurich to Zermatt, so we prioritized proximity to the train station. The Butterfly turned out to be much more than just convenient to the train station and the main commercial area. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The included breakfast was fresh and offered a lot of options. Most importantly, the service was the best we received anywhere over the course of a full week in Switzerland. The front desk was always well-staffed, and the front desk team was friendly and professional. They offered recommendations to fill our time in Zermatt that proved to be perfect. Thanks to the Hotel Butterfly for making our overnight trip to Zermatt a great success!

"Good location! Clean and cosy room!"
yannislee, 13 Décembre 2022

Good location, just 3mins walk from the main zermatt train station. Staff was very helpful too, we need to check out at 6am to catch an early train, she had decided to pack our breakfast for us the day before so that we could eat it in our train ride. This hotel also provide free high tea between 4-530pm, which is very nice of them. Room was cosy and clean too. Definitely will recommend.

"Wonderful!! Excellent service"
CTC1992, 12 Décembre 2022

Great location! Such an easy walk from the train station. Super close to all the stores and shops! The staff was super friendly the room was amazing! Beds were cozy. So spacious so comfy and had all the essentials coffee tea and a huge balcony! The view from the balcony during the day and at night was excellent. Jaw dropping! There were a couple saunas and even a Turkish bath! We loved tea time that the hotels and the breakfast my boyfriend loved . Will absolutely be back and recommend! Thank you to the front desk too for decaf coffee and creamer!

"Best location."
kukaner, 08 Novembre 2022

We stayed for 2 nights in Nov 22. Excellent location right next to the hotel. Very close to town square. Hotel offers shuttle service from station and the hotel has a lift. Excellent b/f, spacious room with mountain views (we took a triple occupant for family). The hotel staff is attentive and warm. There are tons of restaurants near the hotel.

"Zermatt"
mikehD3403EQ, 12 Octobre 2022

The Butterfly was a wonderful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfasts were marvelous and had just about anything you would want. The bar was warm and cozy. The hotel is close to everything from the train station to the main street.

"Loved watching the hang gliders from our balcony"
sarahtQ1945GC, 26 Septembre 2022

The room was spacious and clean. The continental breakfast had a great variety and we honestly looked forward to it before the day's activities. We had a room with a balcony which was relaxing after a day of hiking. It was great watching hang gliders from the balcony too. Not a far walk up the street from the train station and lots of nearby restaurants!

"Well Located Property Close to Everything"
Rahul S, 03 Septembre 2022

Stayed here for 1 Night on 11th Aug 2022 and have no regrets at all. It was a perfect stay and same as what we had expected. The location is wonderful. Just 4-5 min walk from the railway station so basically you dont need any local transfer for this. Although if you have lot of luggage then you can hire a e-car to drop you to the hotel. The main street of Zermatt on which all the cafe / shops are located is just outside the hotel lane. Hardly any trouble. The base station of Gornergrat Railway is easily walkable. It is located just opposite to the main station. The gandola station for Matterhorn Glacier Paradise is connected by an e-bus (GREEN LINE). Nearest bus stop is opposite to the main station. Indian restaurant - Golden India is also and easy walk. Our room was good in size with a small semi-private terrace. Only thing missing was a refrigerator although the front desk personal allowed us to keep our stuff in the restaurant's refrigerator. Overall an excellent stay.

"Fantastic hotel, service and food"
Getaway47109, 29 Août 2022

Fantastic hotel room with good attentive service, and excellent food. High level of cleanliness, and staff very knowledgable and helpful. Hotel is in ideal position close to station and main street. Complimentary pickup from station.

"Well Located Hotel"
Amani10, 26 Août 2022

The Hotel Butterfly is just a few minutes' walk from the railway station (turn right after the McDonalds, pass the Icebreaker and Bose stores and the hotel is in front of you). It is also ideally placed for the Gornergrat rack railway station which is opposite the mainline railway station and gives access to the Gornergrat and Riffelsee areas. The funicular to Sunnegga, with onward cable cars to Blauherd and Rothorn, is about a 10 minute walk while the cable cars to Furi, the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise and the summer ski area are at the other end of Zermatt and are approximately a 20 minute walk. Our room at the Hotel Butterfly was quite spacious with a good sized balcony, plenty of storage, a good-sized safe, a kettle for making tea and coffee and a full length mirror. There was no fridge. The bathroom had a good shower and there was also a hairdryer and magnifying mirror. The room was cleaned on the days we requested although the balcony didn't appear to get swept and there was some rubbish left on the balcony by a previous occupant of the room. Breakfast was good with a range of breads, croissants, hams, cheeses and yoghurts together with hot foods such a scrambled eggs, beans and sausages and bacon on alternate days. Evening meals were varied with 4 courses; two starters, a choice of 3 mains and a dessert. The mains tended to consist of 2 meat dishes and a fish dish. The restaurant can accommodate personal preferences such as those with vegetarian diets. The food was to a good standard and, while the food combinations seemed a little strange at times, the combinations worked. Alcohol was reasonable for Switzerland, with a small glass of wine costing £5 – £6 and a large beer being £6. Soft drinks were about £4. Staff were very friendly and efficient especially Ana, Raphael and Antonio in the restaurant and Yurena on Reception. The one major negative was an encounter I had with a woman who identified herself as the Manager but who l later learned was the Manager's wife, who objected quite rudely when I attempted to take a croissant to my wife who was in bed as she felt unwell. It later transpired that we both had Covid. The Manager's wife did eventually help me to take some drinks and the croissant to the room and was personable enough on subsequent meetings with her but the experience did leave a bad impression and I thought her behaviour did let down the excellent work of the other staff at the hotel. Aside from this negative, the Butterfly is a reasonably priced option in Zermatt.

"Krista, the front desk staff is the reason for me to write this review"
jc-city-by-the-bay, 17 Juillet 2022

The hotel is just few minutes walk from the train station without the bustling traffic from the main street. Typical chalet style room and breakfast selections for Swiss mountain towns hotels. We arrived at the hotel around 2pm and our room was not ready at that moment. The first receptionist just said that we can put our luggages in the storage room and come back around 3pm. We went to Coop and came back to the hotel around 2:45pm. It was Krista this time that we talked to and she informed us that our room is still not ready yet. She called the housekeeping (I guess) then took us to the dinning room (which was closed at that time) and told us that we can help ourselves with coffee and tea while we were waiting for the room. Moments later she came back with our room key tag while we were still drinking our tea and espresso. Obviously, there was a difference between Krista and the first receptionist in term of customer service!

"Good location"
c0l88, 12 Juillet 2022

This hotel looks like a typical Swiss hotel. It's located very centrally near the station but slightly set back from the main road. I liked it more than my wife. A bit too much pinewood in the bedrooms. We had a room on the fourth floor in the eaves and it was very hot and there's no air conditioning. Service in reception on arrival wasn't great but it got better. We had an excellent evening meal in the restaurant.

"Good location. Clean hotel. Good view."
Socalbeachgal, 11 Juillet 2022

We stayed 2 nights in late May 2022. It's close to a 10min nice walk through main street. It's a block behind the main street so it's quiet but easy to walk to all shops and restaurants. The room is clean and has a comfortable bed. Our room was at top floor and the elevator went up to 5th floor only. We had to carry the luggage one floor through the stairs. It was worth it because the room has the balcony with the peek-a-boo view of Matterhorn. I recommend to ask for the top floor balcony room with overlooking the valley and mountains. The view is outstanding.

"Zermatt 60 years later"
nykwilkyins, 11 Juillet 2022

Zermatt was our first stop on a rail trip round Switzerland and the Butterfly was picked by our Agent Swiss Travel( recommended highly). A good pick, we were collected from the station, had a complimentary and comprehensive tea each day and a Matterhorn view room, very adequate. With a good breakfast, it was a pretty faultless stay, plus a charming receptionist and the hotel taxi back to the station, alles war sehr schon

"Ideal base for 23 memorable hours in Zermatt"
411katew, 03 Juillet 2022

We arrived early on train from Montreux via Visp at 11:15 and found our room was ready for us. It was a smallish double room, large patio doors led to a balcony with seats and mountain views, with the Rifflehaus 1853 perched above the town. The bed was comfortable with two single quilts. We grabbed a picnic lunch and caught the Gornergrat cog railway at noon. Back in time for the self service afternoon tea with its lovely cake selection from 4pm. This is indeed a great choice, clean, welcoming, good location, wide selection at breakfast. If you plan to go out early to photograph the Matterhorn, pay attention to the instructions on how to use the night entrance, this is also how to exit at dawn! I had no expectations of Zermatt apart from the Matterhorn. I found a charming, friendly place, easy to wander around with welcoming eateries and an informative museum. I also enjoyed gazing at tiny alpine flowers at Rotenboden, an impromptu outdoor performance by a local brass band and large flock of very cute, bell tinkling, black faced sheep munching through a field just beyond our balcony... So many precious memories from just 23 hours in Zermatt.

"Zermatt Gem!"
Carolyn_and_John_B, 21 Juin 2022

It is a given that Zermatt has expensive hotels, but the Butterfly is a real find. It is less than a five-minute walk from the train station and the Gornergrat railway. There is a nearby Coop food store for inexpensive eats (we got half a good roast chicken and a fresh pasta salad with delicious tomatoes) and wine. The hotel has been nicely modernized. There are two USB ports on each side of the bed AND two more by the desk. The bathroom is ultramodern. We had small, but nice balcony with a mountain view. There is plenty of storage and two pillows each. Even the toilet paper is nice! We enjoyed a really good breakfast with homemade cake, good sausages, fluffy croissants, jams, meats, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, and baked beans. Alas, there was no bacon. If in need, there is one washing machine and drier (for a price!) that require a little effort to use and appropriate timing if there are other potential users.

"Perfect Place to Stay"
mazzyking, 21 Juin 2022

We stayed for three nights at this small friendly hotel. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very tastefully furnished with an extremely comfortable bed. Our en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower was a good size too. The bar and restaurant area was light and airy and spacious and we enjoyed partaking of free coffee and cake every afternoon. We were on half board and the hot and cold buffet breakfast was very comprehensive. Our four course dinners were delicious with a choice of three main courses. We found all the staff at the hotel were friendly and extremely helpful and all spoke fluent English which to us Brits abroad is a big bonus! Our stay at the Butterfly was perfect and we would highly recommend this hotel.

"Very nice stay in an excellent location"
EBPandDSP, 20 Juin 2022

This hotel has a fantastic location - close to everything but on a side street so it isn't so noisy as ones on the main drag. All rooms have a patio or large balcony. Rooms are huge for European hotels. Really didn't interact with the staff, but they seemed nice. Breakfast could be improved, though: there's a real bottleneck at the coffee machines, which are too slow and the food is laid out in a U-shape so getting to it leads to crowded conditions. Also, why two plates? Everybody I saw ended up putting their food plate on top of or to the side of an emply plate. Confusing. But don't let these minor kinks bother you Overall, HB is excellent!

"Exceeded my expectations!"
MatchaMonkey, 09 Juin 2022

We had such a lovely stay at this property! Pros: - location is perfect. So close to the main train station and the Gornergrat railway - complementary tea time from 4:00-5:30pm - generous breakfast offering hot items (scrambled eggs, sausages, crepes) and cold items - our room and balcony!!! We booked an economy room and stayed in room 602. Perhaps it is called economy due to its small size, but it was perfect for us. We had a large balcony where we could see part of the Matterhorn as well as the sheep on the adjacent hill. The bed was extremely comfortable with good quality bed sheets and pillows. The whole room was nicely renovated and the water pressure in the shower was strong. Cons: - not the hotel's fault, but the breakfast area can sometimes be very busy if there's a tour group

"Quaint hotel minutes from train station"
Jedda1, 21 Avril 2022

Really nice property tucked back off main street and 2 minute walk from train station and Gornergrot train. Breakfast was plentiful as well as a nice tea time set up. Nice touch is the self laundry on site for 9francs.

"Another Great Stay"
akoosik, 07 Février 2022

Frank and his crew provide more than the basics. Expect friendly hospitality, delicious food selections, updated and clean common areas and rooms. After missing last year's visit due to the pandemic it was a welcome surprise to see that the Butterfly was as good as ever. Super location and reasonable cost. It's a winner.

"Lovely, friendly hotel in a great location "
waserhcc, 04 Février 2022

Visited Feb 22 for a family ski holiday. (5xadults, 3 rooms on the 3rd floor) Firstly, location: so close to the train station at the bottom of the high street. Excellent location, just behind shops, ni e and quiet but also good to be the first ones on the ski bus and so close to the gonergrat station. Hotel is a nice size, not too big, we had a nice view from our with, balcony, sofa, a decent size room. Meals: breakfast is ok, the hot options are very limited but the usual for European breakfast. Cake served from 4pm which was nice. Evening meals, mostly ok, heavy on the meat options, but the chef happy to make a starter a main if requested for a vegetarian option. Our server Ana was an absolute delight and an assest to the restaurant team. Not too much to do at the hotel, the lounge area is nice, there is a pool table and a sauna/steam room for facilities. Happy to recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to visit Zermatt

"Great Hotel and good Value for money"
mjreece2017, 27 Janvier 2022

I have stayed at the Butterfl;y for a number of years during the Ski season. The hotel is very well located just off the main Street and close to the main station and also The Gornergrat Station. The Hotel rooms are of a reasonable size and very comfortable and modern with a large flat screen TV. The variety of food in the restaurant is excellent and always very well presented. The restaurant staff are also excellent and especially Ana who is very hard working and attentive. Everyone is made to feel very welcome by Frank (Manager) who makes the time to speak to everyone. I have stayed in many hotels in Zermatt over the last 40 years as this one ticks all the boxes.

"Absolutely satisfied!"
979farzanam, 07 Janvier 2022

I am absolutely satisfied with the location, room size, food, customer service, wonderful shower, cleanliness of the room and more. Such a great enjoyable stay I had. Very close to the main street, shopping, restaurants and Zermatt station. Seriously close and I was very happy that I didn't have to drag my luggage a long.

"Fantastic holiday"
edwardtF1694KR, 04 Janvier 2022

Many thanks to the whole team at the butterfly. You made our trip to zermatt special with your brilliant service. Rooms excellent with a lovely friendly team supporting us for our stay. You also went out of your way to make Christmas and new year super special, despite us being exhausted from hard ski days. Well done. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

"Absolutely brilliant stay!"
Companion13797462965, 27 Décembre 2021

We have just returned from a week's stay with our two children aged 9 and 7 years. We actually had booked another hotel but it was cancelled and we managed to get a late availability at Hotel Butterfly. We are absolutely delighted we ended up here and couldn't fault anything. The staff were so welcoming, ensuring we had twin rooms next to each other (401 and 402 were fantastic modern rooms with good views). The food was absolutely delicious, lots of choice at all meals and my children could choose anything they wanted each evening depending on what they fancied. The waiting staff were so so lovely and went out of their way to make our stay special and fuss over the children. Excellent location right by the main station and the Gornergrat station and 2 minutes from the high street but in a quiet location. Would totally recommend for any age, whether travelling as a family, a couple, friends or solo. Thank you. Have stayed in several places in Zermatt but this ticked all the boxes.

"Don't stay here. No customer service at all. Very bad management and staffs."
judymU3203YF, 18 Décembre 2021

I have travelled around the world for more than one hundred countries and have not ever seen this kind of lousy service provided by a hotel/motel like this one. The owner was extremely rude and impolite to customers. Upon checking out I asked for her help to call the train station at Montreux (French speaking area in Switzerland) as I lost an expensive camera on the funicular. She responded by saying that their phones cannot reach outside world beyond their property. And in addition to that she said she cannot speak French either. When she personally made mistake by billing me wrong by 30 CHF less and wanted to bill me 30 CHF more. I said 'you need to refund me original bill amount she said she could not refund me and want me to pay her 30 CHF cash. I explained that I don't have cash in CHF with me she yelled at me saying that if I don't give her cash at that moment she is going to call police ... Her attitude was beyond my belief ... never encountered this kind of person in my life. Stay away this motel. They are located in a neighborhood with strong disgusting smell.

"Comfortable one night stay."
dvdand, 31 Octobre 2021

Arrived late at night to catch the Glacier express the next morning. Lovely , cosy modern room with good wifi. Hotel is less than 5 minutes from the station and next to main street with all the dining options. Woke to see the summit of the Matterhorn through the trees, despite reception telling us we would nt be able to see it. Breakfast buffet was very nice and served in a lovely spacious dining area on the ground floor. Very happy with our choice.

"Very happy with choice."
David J, 12 Octobre 2021

Lovely hotel in Zermatt , we could even see the very summit of the Matterhorn from our balcony despite reception saying there was no view at all. Clean , modern and very comfortable room with a safe and good wifi. Less than 5 minutes walk from the train station. We only stayed one night to catch the Glacier Express the next morning but would have been happy to stay longer. Friendly reception and easy check-in. Breakfast was very good in a lovely spacious relaxed dining area. Room was very quiet and the bed comfortable. Definitely recommended.

"A very nice hotel with friendly staff and central location"
Eop_Norway, 30 Septembre 2021

The hotel is within a short walking distance of the train station and two blocks from the main street. We had a practically furnished, clean and bright room. Several rooms have nice views. Decent breakfast (Covid19) and helpful and friendly staff

"Excellent"
texas5242, 09 Septembre 2021

Lovely suite on 5th floor, but if you are over six-feet tall, I suggest a room below the 5th floor, which has low spots due to roof. But the room 510 has a large bathroom (bath shower combo), a sitting area, a balcony, and a king bed. Room is stocked with coffee and has a safe. The restaurant serves an excellent breakfast (the best on our three-week European trip), and dinner was very good. Service was excellent. A female waiter was especially delightful and entertaining. You cannot see the Matterhorn from the hotel, but that is true for most hotels in Zermatt. A great view is less-than 10 minute walk--only slightly uphill. The rail station is less than 200 meters and slightly downhill. The bar might have been better stocked, but it was generally quite good. Lots of single malts but short on bourbons and rye. Zermatt can

"We love this hotel!"
Pascal P, 01 Août 2021

We really enjoyed our family stay. Really nice staff. Good location. Great breakfast and dinner. Nice complimentary teatime in the afternoon. Great bathroom. As our room was opposite the lift there was some noise sometimes. We will definitely come back!

"Highly Recommend"
115ddd, 17 Juillet 2021

The hotel is literally less than a two-minute walk from the train station, even though we took their cab pickup service that they provide. The stafff is very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast is included in the room rate, which is an added bonus since there were many choices, as well as gluten-free items. They also have an afternoon tea time, which was a great mid-afternoon snack. Would defnitely stay here again.

"Good modern room with excellent breakfast"
OW843, 30 Mai 2021

Well situated very close to the station. Nice modern room and bathroom but no view at all (room 200 on second floor is facing other buildings). Evening meals in the restaurant were rather average: on 5 dishes tasted, 1 was really good, the 4 others were pretty average for me. Highlight was the the breakfast and its butterkopf (a kind of traditional swiss brioche bread that is pleated, called tresse in french), probably the best I've ever tasted.

"Well appointed attic room a with a view."
jwalter622, 15 Mai 2021

The hotel is close to the station and easy to locate. The staff were approachable and professional enough although they could have been a bit more friendly. Our room was quaint, in the attic with a balcony with a view of The Matterhorn, superb. The room was very clean and tidy with great towels and a powerful shower, although the drains were a bit smelly. The breakfast was plentiful and good quality and the free afternoon coffee and cake went down a treat. Ov erall we were impressed by our stay.

"Overall good stay"
inkwave17, 09 Février 2021

In general we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It's in a convenient location very close to the station and Gornergratbahn but on a quiet street. Our room was recently renovated and comfortable, with plenty of storage and a big balcony (this however could be spruced up to look a bit more inviting). The bathroom had also been renovated and had a great rain shower. Wifi worked perfectly and we were also happy to have so many English-language TV channels to watch in the evening as entertainment options are limited at the moment! We also enjoyed the afternoon tea-time after being outdoors all morning. Due to the restaurant restrictions in Zermatt, we had half-board at the hotel. The food was mostly very good, although the set menus were quite meat-heavy. You could substitute for 'lighter' options if desired, but it would have been nice to have a dedicated vegetarian option already in the set menu. The service, although friendly, was a bit disorganized at times - waitstaff did not regularly check if we wanted more drinks and one night we had to wait 30 minutes between courses without explanation while the two tables nearest to us received the same dishes on time. Breakfast was good with many hot and cold options. The breakfast area could probably use a second coffee machine to reduce lines, but I was very happy to see large juice glasses available, instead of the tiny 'shot glasses' some hotels insist on using! The hotel was very clean and Covid precautions were in effect, although we would have appreciated better control of the guest flow at dinner (especially on Saturday evening) and more visible reminders about mask requirements and social distancing in the lobby and restaurant. A minority of the guests did not always stick to the dinner seating times or 'social distancing' in the restaurant and there did not seem to be anyone from the hotel put in charge to control this. However, in general, we felt the hotel took all regulations seriously and we appreciated the effort to provide a safe environment. We would definitely consider staying here again next time we visit Zermatt and are grateful we could enjoy a few days in the mountains at the Hotel Butterfly!

"Hidden gem! Fabulous stay, empty pistes, no crowds."
SaskiaFrans, 13 Janvier 2021

Even if Zermatterhof would be the same price as the Butterfly Hotel, we would still choose the latter. Managers Frank/Simone and all their staff are true angels, making you feel like you belong to the extended Butterfly family., doing their utmost to make you feel comfortable and giving you the holiday of a lifetime. We have been coming here for some 25 years and hope to continue this tradition for many more years to come. Covid adherence in the hotel is strict, we felt very safe. Butterfly team, we love you!

"Definitive recommendation"
NiciRedSox, 09 Janvier 2021

We spontaniously booked a room to extend our stay one more night and are now really happy we choose the Butterfly. The rooms are clean, modern and comfy. The staff is friendly and helpfull. We almost had a bad experience while having dinner (one of the staff took our order but didn't pass it to the kitchen, which was very questionable) but luckily Ana helped us out and turned our dinner into a wonderful, tasty experience. She is really a sunshine! All the best! Sarah and Nici

"Totally recommend it!"
641oanac, 27 Décembre 2020

The staff is extremely nice, the hotel looks great, the location is very good, next to the train station, next to the best restaurants. When we arrived we were straight told our room, no waiting around, no nonsense to wait in the lobby, the hotel has 2 lifts, which are cozy and silent, the view from the room was just perfect! The room was very beautiful. The breakfast was excellent. we also appreciate the advice of how to get around and what to do. I have to say thank you a thousand times to the front desk lady, who saw that is my birthday when checking in , and gave me a very "small" gift, of 100 francs voucher! wow! What a nice gesture! Thank you! if we are ever in Zermatt we are definitely coming back.

"Unfriendly reception "
jocf100, 10 Février 2020

This is our 4th visits to Zermatt and first time stay at Butterfly hotel due to many positive reviews here, but we were disappointed. Yes the hotel is located near the train station which most reviewed stated, however, there are many many other hotels in the same area so this is no special. We found the number of ladies at reception were very unfriendly, no help for arrange dinner or service getting to and from ski lift that most other Zermatt hotel included as standard guest service. They just told you to get a taxi while their 2 hotel shuttles waiting outside. We also found the hotel dated and mistaken been classic chalet style. Most rooms are next to the stair or lift which noise throughout the night and morning. It is cheap for a reason so for extra few hundred chf we would no doubt learn our lesson and stay elsewhere.

"Great hotel"
rdk1, 09 Février 2020

This is a great hotel and i really enjoyed a weeks stay here. Located very near the train station just off the main street, very convenient to arriving and departing. Very friendly and helpful staff, and lovely clean modern rooms. I was very pleased that the bar/lounge/restaurant area was much more cosy in winter than the pictures on the website seem. Really good value for Zermatt and I'd be happy to return.

"Nearly Perfect"
LuViPortland, 24 Janvier 2020

We hope to be able to return to this three-star property masquerading as a four-star. As another reviewer noted, Ana in the dining room is the employee who must have years of hospitality experience, perhaps at a high level hotel. She was even cheerful and helpful in the morning, when the breakfast people were generally cranky and close to unpleasant. In spite of the glum moods in the morning, breakfast runs as expected, and they offer the typical variety of everything you might like to have in the morning. Just one thing to note: One guest was clearly a wee bit different, mentally, than the rest of the guests. He was no threat to anybody, but he did like to be greeted, and one of the servers was unable to treat him kindly.

Overall we had a great time at this hotel, It is in a great location just off the main street close to the train station etc. The room was very clean, the food was good & the staff were all amazingly friendly & helpful.

"Perfect Hotel"
Tlyght, 22 Janvier 2020

We had originally booked a week at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhoff, but the reviews I had read on the Best Western Butterfly stayed with me. 24 Hours after booking GHZ, we called and made the switch and we were so glad we did. Nothing against GHZ. It's a beautiful hotel, but the Best Western Butterfly was a third of the price and was perfect for us. The money we saved by switching is taking us to Lisbon in April. Great location near the main train station and also the Gornergrat station. Very cozy. We had a large room on the top floor that was way more spacious than we needed, with sitting area and balcony. Delicious breakfast included each morning. Afternoon tea with numerous cakes and sweets. Friendly staff. This place is the right choice. If you like to travel a lot and want to save a few dollars for your next trip. Stay here. You won't regret it.

"Hotel stay for 5 nights in January 2020"
mikeroemhild, 19 Janvier 2020

this is an amazing Hotel, not just been so close to the railway station for arrival and departure, but mostly been so close to the train to the mountains, this is a perfect location. the hotel is very clean with amazing friendly staff, very personalized service where everyone remembers your routine and likes from the first moment. you feel like home away from home. the included breakfast buffet is plentiful and even your choice of egg will be prepared to order, any other possible request will be taken care of if possible. the management is available any time to make your stay is most pleasant and will help with any needs to make your stay most memorable. Overall 5* for this Hotel, all you need for the best ski vacation in this price range. Excellent job Hotel Butterfly Team and Management.

"Terrific location"
youmeandher, 14 Janvier 2020

We (my two adult daughters and I) recently had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Butterfly Hotel in Zermatt. The location is great. Right in the action of the village, but one street back from the main street. Close to walk to everything but you don't get the noise from the main street. It is down the end of the village where the trains arrive. They offer a free transfer/luggage transport to and from the train – although it is a very short walk also. We were lucky enough to stay in the one bedroom suite (Room 505). If you get the opportunity to book this room do so! It is well worth the money. To top it all off there was a very large balcony looking up toward the Matterhorn. All the hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. While the hotel looks older it is well kept and provides all the facilities you need for a wonderful stay. There is a complimentary buffet breakfast each morning. We really appreciated the free afternoon tea each day. They offered hot drinks and a few sweet treats – cake, donuts etc. There was biscotti, but nothing savoury as such on the days we were there. I thought it was a wonderful treat and used it as an opportunity to get to know the other guests staying at the hotel. The hotel also We work in the travel industry and we thoroughly recommend the Hotel Butterfly for any stay in Zermatt – year round! We were there at the end of summer and while it snowed on our last day there we are very jealous of everyone that is enjoying the winter ski season now! Try to stay in Room 505 if you can!

"Top Hotel and resort"
gilesdavies2020, 13 Janvier 2020

We have just returned from a fabulous week skiing in Zermatt an excellent resort and excellent skiing. This was all made even better by the wonderful Hotel Butterfly - staff were all really helpful and very friendly, hotel was spotlessly clean - well done to the housekeeping team, food was great and loads of it (had to miss dessert a few times as we couldn't eat it all and mine host Frank was great, with lots of information and advice as well as general conversation. We have to say a special mention about Franco as he was a star and very entertaining. All in all this has now become our preferred destination and we will be returning. Thank you all the staff of the Hotel Butterfly - you made our week even more enjoyable than just a great week skiing. See you soon. Giles Davies

"Great stay at Zermatt"
joel_f_usa, 09 Janvier 2020

This is not your typical Best Western, it is in an entirely different class. The authentic European breakfast was amazing. They had everything, even homemade crepes and great cheese. I wish we could've stayed more than one night.

"Wonderful one night stay"
alanthegreat, 30 Décembre 2019

Hotel is extremely near to Zermatt train station, and one just need to recognise McDonald's on the main road, and the hotel is located just behind it. Service was excellent, staff was helpful in both recommending nearby tourists spots and other general questions. Hotel room was okay. And rooms with balcony (like mine) will probably have some view of the quaint town and picturesque mountains of the Alpine region. Hotel breakfast was good. Eggs were done on request which I liked. No complains for this stay overall.

"Excellent Alpine stay"
oliverwestall, 28 Décembre 2019

It is probably the first time I find a hotel that is better than the current Tripadvisor Ratings - We are staying at a re-modelled room and my experience is great. Here is why. The Good: - Very close to the train station/ Zematt Bahnofstrasse. Easy to find with Google Maps. - Has USB power outlets for your gadgets - Excellent showers. For the shower freaks: Its a Hansgrohe Showertable (thermostatic controls), Raindance Select hand shower, and Raindance top rain shower. - Comes with free breakfast, and has a much wider selection than a typical continental breakfast - It has scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausages. - Has a large and excellent balcony. - Friendly reception - Receptionist taken great lengths to explain my travel up to see the Matterhorn and has taken the liberty to print off the Gornergrat Bahn for me without asking :) The Bad: - No fridge. Although I am visiting in Winter with 0 degrees celsius outside temperature hence it is not really a problem :) - No Zermatt view at property - but hey, you are more than welcome to walk a block or two to view the mountain :) - Would work best if there is a heated cabinet for the snow gear Overall, it has been a nice stay and thanks! Would return when visiting the region.

"Best hotel stay during our 2weeks Switzerland Trip"
vanessateoh, 26 Décembre 2019

Hotel has a nice and cosy ambience. Clean, nice and spacious room with luxurious toilet amenities. Very comfortable bed. Friendly staff, at the restaurant, especially Ana with excellent service and thoughtful gesture. Hotel Restaurant is a hidden gem, dinner was good. We dine there for 2nights. The middle age male waiter was very thoughtful and refill our water without us asking. Very friendly staff makes our meal enjoyable. Hotel provides complimentary afternoon tea and coffee with nice home baked cookies and cakes. Strongly recommended, will stay there if we visit Zermatt again.

"Close to Train station, Big rooms with balconies and very friendly staff"

this hotel is worth the price! they have sauna big bathroom bathub complimentary tea and coffee + candy too! and have afternoon tea ( for free of course) staff here is very kind and helpful they allow early check in couldn't ask for more the breakfast is also fantastic

"Near to Train station"
346zua, 09 Décembre 2019

We stayed here for 2 days. It's very near to train station and they provide free shuttle from train station. Note that this is very important if you have heavy luggage and the taxi fare is ridiculously expensive here in Zermatt. The hotel lobby is very nice and very warm. Our room is very spacious and sparkling clean! They provide smart tv with Netflix. There was a complimentary afternoon tea which really enjoy! Breakfast also there's alot of varieties and the coffee served was perfect! In terms of hospitality, overall was just ok. The thing is I always compare Switzerland and New Zealand hospitality. Thru my experience NZ is wayy better. However, special credit should be given to Ana, who is very polite and willing to help us with any request. We love her! I would like to also point out that one of the staff in the restaurant (a bit old, not so friendly look) was a bit rude. He doesn't smile and send us the wrong coffee. He looks like a grumpy old man when we asked for the right order. With this attitude I think he shouldn't be serving in the restaurant! All in all, I enjoy the experience here especially the location and the amenities.

"Great Location"
Taybeh, 05 Décembre 2019

We stayed here for two nights in December. An easy walk from the train station yet offset from the main street far enough to consider the location very quiet. We found the room spacious enough for our needs and very clean. The breakfast provided a good selection of items and dining room staff was always present to assist and refill. We found the staff at reception to be very friendly and helpful.

"one well spent night at Zermatt"
BryanSkywalker, 23 Novembre 2019

so close to station! no problem from bringing your own big luggage to the hotel. really love the ambiance inside. the ground (lobby and resto) is like big-old-house. so classic and so homey. but the room is really modern taste. the room is big, bright, and clean. bed and pillow so comfy. the elevator is small, old, and kind of shocking haha. check in and check out time is very strict. they provide a room to store the luggage while we go out, but help yourself with that, no staff will help. the reception is not 24 hours, be careful about this. if something wrong with the room make sure before she/he get home. some restaurants at Zermatt are quite far for walk (15-20 minutes), the hotel can help you to do reservation or make sure if the resto open or not. the reception is not 24 hours, be careful about this. if something wrong with the room make sure before she/he get home. the breakfast is really various although the taste is just average. but really big thanks that they served rice when i stay there (this is rare!)

"Perfect Hotel, Town & Stay!"
Vinit D, 04 Novembre 2019

Just 60 meters from the Train Station in Zermatt it is the most ideal location. On arriving the place has a very nice old world look and feel to it with the Reception next to a beautiful Fire place and restaurant! Check-in was swift and efficient and we were given 2 rooms on the same floor right next to each other which made it very convenient for us! They had complimentary Afternoon Tea and biscuits and it was heavenly! The restaurant was really nice to serve my wife her choice of coffee even though it was not in the complimentary serving and with a SMILE! The breakfast spread is good and the service is prompt and efficient. Our kids had a good time and they were taken care by the Breakfast staff very nicely and warmly. Thank you Hotel Butterfly and all its staff - we will surely visit again soon!

"Perfect Stay"
Alessandra C, 21 Octobre 2019

This hotel has outstanding service. I was very sick upon my arrival to Switzerland, specifically Zermatt. Betty (front desk staff) got me in contact with a doctor immediately and had the hotel porter bring me there. Betty was helpful with informing us of weather, what hikes were open/closed, where we should go and more. The continental breakfast had really nice variety for all diets. The location was a 30 second walk to the main road and less than 3 minutes to Zermatt's train station. The room was spotless with the most beautiful view. Highly recommend!

"Excellent location & rooms"

This hotel was superb! The staff were friendly and accomodating and it is located close to the train station. The rooms were clean and we even ate at the restaurant which was great! The manager reached out and was very pleasant.

"Nice Hotel"
LinLan8, 15 Octobre 2019

This is a nice property away from the fray. Beautiful hanging flowers from the window boxes. Nice size room with a common balcony, and a full-sized bathtub. Breakfast was above average. When our train was cancelled, they let us store our luggage so that we could tour Zermatt. Highly recommend.

"Location, comfortable room and good breakfast"
kitty1104, 10 Octobre 2019

Just about 2 minutes walk from the train station, located on a quiet street behind the main stretch. Check in is simple and fast. We arrived just after 1pm and our room is ready. We stayed at room 400, a recently renovated corner unit facing the back of the building with mountain view (not able to see Matterhorn but still very nice), it has its own corner balcony. The room is spacious by European standard, two twin bed combined into a King size, the bed is high and very comfortable. Bathroom is also newly renovated with a small window, big walk in shower with rain shower style and handheld wand available. It is hot and good pressure, the shower wand has a jet function that gives a good massage. The room is equipped with USB plugs (desk, and both sides of bed), Swiss plug and also Euro plug by the desk, very convenient for travellers. Good storage space, nice lighting. Room is spotless, stylish and well designed for travellers, big flat screen TV with different languages channels available, I am glad I can finally watch some BBC news and English speaking channels after visiting 3 different hotels in other parts of Switzerland in the past week. Buffet Breakfast has good choices, one of the best I've had throughout my trip in this country. It also offers afternoon tea between 3 to 5:30pm with tea, coffee and pastries. Very nice touch. We had a dinner in their restaurant on the second night, It has a regular menu and a daily special menu, we ordered a fillet of sole w/rice, and a veal with gravy over rice and peas on the daily special. I like the veal dinner very much. Staff are friendly, speak good English, price is moderate, can be a good choice to stay and eat in the hotel after a long cold day. Tripadvisor said it is only a 3 stars hotel, it is the best 3 stars I have stayed. It is the shoulder season and I've got a great rate. Would definitely come back if I ever visit Zermatt again.

"A comfortable and welcoming hotel."
BigLad1950, 06 Octobre 2019

I had booked this hotel using amoma. Three days before we were due to arrive I got “the” email from amoma. I sent an email to the hotel and the reply was very prompt in coming. Further email conversations ensued and in less than half an hour a room was booked for two nights. Christa was very helpful. The stress level was now back to nearly normal. On arriving at the hotel we got a very warm welcome which was much appreciated. Check in was completed swiftly. Unfortunately the room was not ready but luggage was left. We were told that the hotel provides afternoon tea for guests. Returning to the hotel we found the afternoon tea to be very nice. Our room was on the sixth floor of the hotel but the lift only goes to the fifth floor. Not a problem. The room itself had a balcony and from the window the peak of the Matterhorn could be seen. The room itself looked as if it had been recently refurbished. The bed was comfortable, tea and coffee were provided. Something we found was not always the case in Swiss hotels. The room was a decent size. Added bonus was the provision of USB ports. Breakfast was much more than adequate and the staff in the breakfast room were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The hotel is only a short walk from the main line and Gornergrat stations. Would I recommend Hotel Butterfly - most definitely.

"great location"
cornwall48, 27 Septembre 2019

the hotel was excellent. great location. 5 minutes from the railway station the room was fine plenty of space, with tea making facilities. some rooms are I. believe being refurbished.the breakfast could have more variety but on the whole, the food was good. the staff was brilliant..

"Ideally situated"
bobwarren, 21 Septembre 2019

The hotel is an easy walk from the train station ( and from where you go to catch the Matterhorn tour). The most friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are spotless. Open the window of your room or venture out onto the balcony. Silence at night. Peace and quiet. Sleep tight

"Neat and clean property with a scenic view"
Siddharth_198706, 20 Septembre 2019

We stayed at the property for a night in the month of May this year. Our overall experience of the hotel was good. The room was cozy and clean with a balcony as well. It is conveniently located near the train station and also very close to many restaurants. All in all, a standard 3 star hotel with which you cannot go wrong. The only downside would be the elevator which was very compact.

"Great rooms and location"
Chris L, 18 Septembre 2019

We had a very pleasant stay here. The hotel is located well for access to cog rail train station that takes you to the Matterhorn viewing area as well as the city's "old town." The hotel is clean and our room had all that was needed for a good stay. Topping the list is quiet and a bathroom with practical amenities like hooks and places to lay toiletries. Many (or most) rooms have balconies or a shared patio area. Very good breakfast is offered. Don't know about other hotels in Zermatt, but this one is quite good and one we would gladly use again.

"Cosy, clean and quiet room "
TsyYum, 17 Septembre 2019

BW Hotel Butterfly is really near the train station and easy to get to the main street of town too. The afternoon tea & snacks were good. We had a cosy and quiet room that had a nice view of town and tip of matterhorn. The room looks like it's been refurbished and so it was looking new and clean. We asked for a high floor quiet room and got the top floor which was nice. However, we had to walk up a flight of stairs as the lift goes only to the 2nd highest floor. So do take note of that if you need an accessible room or have heavy luggage. Had a good stay and quite worth the value considering that generally accommodation is not cheap in the area.

"Wonderful hotel with very friendly service and great location"
Crvan, 16 Septembre 2019

We arrived mid-day before our room was ready however the hotel conveniently offered luggage storage for us until we could go to our room. This way we could go out and discover the beautiful Zermatt area. The hotel is extremely well located and is only five minute walk (or less) from the train station and is set off from the main street so it is very quiet. The ambiance in the hotel lobby is great and is definitely heavily flavored in the regional decor and geography. The various staff member that assisted us throughout our two night stay were very friendly and helped us out with all our questions and concerns; five stars for sure for the staff. The breakfast each morning was good and more than adequate for us to start our days and the selection of food was quite broad. When we arrived, we were in the middle of our vacation and needed to do some laundry. The hotel has a washer and dryer that all the guests can use for a minimal charge. This was invaluable to us as we had packed with the intention of doing laundry in Zermatt and this hotel had the laundry facilities to do it. After two loads of laundry, we were all set for the remainder of our vacation. Our room was very clean and fairly large in size and the nice extra benefit was the balcony with its great view. Our room had a small private balcony overlooking the mountains in the Zermatt area. In less than a two minute walk, you can be on Zermatt's main street in the middle of all the action, restaurants, shops and attractions. We would highly recommend staying here at the hotel as its location, service, amenities and cleanliness are exemplary.

"Terrible front of house service"
56TravelBunny, 14 Septembre 2019

The receptionist is the first point of contact with any hotel. In the Case of the Hotel Butterfly, the afternoon receptionist was unhelpful, uninterested and rude, she preferenced phone calls over people waiting to be served, she offered no assistance in having noisy children outside of ground floor bedrooms removed, she showed no interest in trying to locate missing bags, she failed to notify me after my bag was delivered. To compound matters on complaining to the manager, he said he would “investigate” - still waiting for a response3 days latter. On the other hand facilities were clean and well presented although no air conditioning 2 big bonuses 1) English language TV - excellent after a week in the mountains 2) Franco, our dinner waiter - a true gem, witty, attentive, fantastic service - as was the food.

"3 Star Hotel at most"
CanuckOnHoliday, 08 Septembre 2019

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in Zermatt. I chose the hotel based on reviews I read here. The hotel is clean, and has what you need but a few things irritated me. The staff were not friendly and seemed very put out when asked simple favours such as extra towels. Breakfast was fine but I wouldn't say it was amazing, in fact we didn't take advantage of it the next day. The hotel is close to the train station (the main reason I chose this hotel).

"Best croissants and hot breakfast."
zinfulone, 07 Septembre 2019

A very comfortable hotel off the main street of Zermatt, but a convenient short walk from the train station and Gornergat rail. Very impressed with the breakfast, delicious baked goods, large buttery croissants, local jams. Hot eggs and meats available, along with a selection of cheeses and cereals and fruit. Quiet and comfortable, good hot showers too.

"Cozy hotel with a great character. "
FairFoodie71, 20 Août 2019

Very close to the zermat station. This hotel was a great find it's hot amazing character of a quaint charming hotel. Betty the front office staff was amazing and gave us one of the best rooms 504 with a view of the mountains. The room has been done up recently and refreshing. Great comfy beds and pillows. Amazing terrace and balcony. The washrooms all updated with thermostatic showers. Among the best quality shower hels used. I wish I could take a large bottle home. Yes it's a small little hotel and elevator can be a bit cramped. But that's the charm I guess . The breakfast was also extremely good. Good quality fruits and a superb coffee was a great highlight. Lovely flower arrangements in balcony was so awesome. Some rescue operations were also g oing behind the hotel. We saw a glimpse of it. It's most centrally located yet a bit inside that makes it quite. My suggestions would be that the washroom shower doors to be fixed as it was opening on both sides and it may break when it gets hot on the washbasin. Also they seem to have invested in a 46 inch tv.unfortunately I was unable to crack the code to see some of the channels. But that doesn't matter. Got a partial view of matterhorn. That's enough for us . Lovely relaxed stay. Keep up the good work guys.

"Comfortable 3 Star Hotel"
grahamjparr, 10 Août 2019

Location great :close to the main station, Gornergrat station and main street..'Classic' room excellent with walk in shower in bathroom. Breakfast and dinner with plentiful choice with excellent service from Anna, Raphael and the Thai/ British waiter. Restaurant missed their commander, Raphael, to organise things. However Franck was an attentive host and was always on hand..Good quality hotel and good value which we would return to..

"Recent excellent group stay"
upacginger, 02 Août 2019

The hotel was perfectly located in the town. the rooms were comfortable and clean. The waiters/waitresses and bar staff were superb, especially Ana in the restaurant and Franco behind the bar. The manager Frank was excellent with a great sense of humour. All our needs were catered for.

"Wonderful Hotel managed by wonderful people."
David H, 29 Juillet 2019

My wife and I had a six night stay at this hotel and could not complain about a thing. It is perfectly located near to the train station and main high street but tucked away from the noise and bustle of tourists. We have fallen in love with Zermatt and will definitely return one day (God willing). Hotel Butterfly is THE ONLY hotel we will look at when booking accommodation, surely that speaks for itself ?

"Lovely friendly hotel"
Sian E, 27 Juillet 2019

I stayed at the hotel as part of an organised group trip and was pleasantly surprised at the accommodation. The rooms are a decent size and very comfortable, the only thing that could improve this would be a fridge in the room.. The manager and staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help. Location is great and good food. Would recommend a stay here

"Turned lemons into lemonade (Swiss style)"
John E, 25 Juillet 2019

We had some significant initial challenges booking this night at Hotel Butterfly through another 3rd party booking site, and were worried when we arrived in Zermatt that something might still be messed up. However, the hotel was well aware of the challenges we faced and were prepared to treat us warmly upon arrival. We did receive what seemed to be a deliberate room upgrade and we were not disappointed. Our room had a lovely balcony with a great view of the Matterhorn. We made sure to take advantage of the balcony on the morning of our stay to enjoy the view with some coffee. The breakfast that morning was also very enjoyable.

"Excellent family holiday in Swiss Alps"
Magyarcsapat1975, 16 Juillet 2019

My family of three persons stayed in Best Western Hotel Butterfly for 3 days. The hotel is very much conveniently located to both Zermatt main train station and the one that takes you to Gornergrat observatory. You can walk from the station to the hotel, but when we arrived in Zermatt under a big shower (rain), the hotel shuttle electric car helped us to get to the hotel in no time. It is located on the edge of a quiet side street in very close proximity to Zermatt main street, so you can well rest peacefully to be only waked up in the morning by bird's songs : ). The generous buffet breakfast that is included in room rate provides you sufficient energy refill for outdoor daily activities and warm afternoon tea time (which is also free of charge) helps you re-energise after excursions before you head to evening ones and dining out.We enjoyed sitting on the balcony to watch the gliders over the mountain and enjoy fresh air which is so healthy for urban residents in polluted megapolises. A self-laundry service is a plus as well when you have travelled for some time and in dire need of changing your clothes. The hotel staff was very professional and helpful addressing all our queries and needs. We will definitely stay here in the future.

"Great hotel"
kimsatty, 14 Juillet 2019

Zermatt, Best Western Butterfly Hotel A lovely place to fall into after a glorious day on the Glacier Express. A two-block walk from the train station and remember there are no gas/diesel powered vehicles in the city. If needed, hotels have electric carts to move you around. Great view from the room and lovely flower boxes on the balcony. The desk clerk, Connie, was a hoot and had a great sense of humor, but all the while was interested in making sure we were happy. Two elevators in the hotel, but no more than 2 people and 2 bags permitted. Breakfast was a well-planned, wonderfully presented buffet and staffed by a very friendly wait staff who only wanted to be sure we were happy. Walking around the town was easy due the great location of the hotel in the city. Lots to do and we spent an entire day on the Gornergrat mountain. Don't miss it. Checkout was easy and the hotel electric shuttle took us directly to the train station.

"Great Place to Stay"
LyndellS_13, 09 Juillet 2019

We were in Zermatt for two nights. The Butterfly was so conveniently located as it was only about 200 metres from the train station. The room was very cosy with a big comfortable bed and a balcony. It was very quiet. Each afternoon the hotel provides afternoon tea. Barista made hot drinks and beautiful house made pastries and cakes - delicious. Breakfast buffet was amazing.

"Very nice hotel."
baysyd1, 08 Juillet 2019

Room was a good size with a balcony from which one could hear the tinkling bells of the sheep coming back in the evening. There was a well-equipped guest laundry. The receptionist was very helpful about our washing. We had breakfast and two dinners in the hotel and enjoyed the food. There was a large noisy tour group in the main dining room and we were considerately seated in a separate area.

"Underrated hotel"
phoenix1958, 07 Juillet 2019

I stayed here for 2 nights with my wife in June '19. I paid about $250/night for a room with a balcony. None of their rooms have Matterhorn views. The location is great as it is 5 minutes from the train station, the main street in Zermatt, and the Gornergrat train station. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful except for one waiter that didn't listen to what my wife was asking him. The rooms are clean and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast had good variety and was included in the room price. I was most excited to find out they have a self service laundry downstairs that they have installed in the last month. Cost is about $9 to wash and dry. On our 3 week trip thru Europe this was the first one we found and we really needed to wash clothes. The receptionist was very helpful and made 2 or 3 trips downstairs to help me figure everything out. They do have some laundries in Zermatt that will wash your clothes for you but we like to wash them ourselves. I initially booked this hotel mostly on location but actually found out it has a lot more to offer. I would definitely stay here again.

"A quiet location close to the Train Station, the main street of Zermatt and the Gornergratbahn"
DdraigGoch1948, 02 Juillet 2019

This hotel is centrally and conveniently located in Zermatt close to the Bahnhofstrasse, the Bahnhof and the Gronergratbahn and within easy walking distance of the Sunnegga funicular. The rooms are spotless and the food is delicious with afternoon tea being very welcome after a day's walking on the many trails around the town.

"Very good in almost every way"
Alan L, 01 Juillet 2019

The hotel is very well positioned for the station, and other access points to the surrounding mountains. The rooms are comfortable and very well appointed, with possibly the very best hotel shower I have used. The restaurant is decent, pretty good breakfast and a short dinner menu which changes daily. The staff are responsive and willing so I have no, problem in recommending this hotel.

"Great location"
Lamaree, 23 Juin 2019

The room was very nice and the balcony was wonderful to sit with a glass of wine and just relax. The breakfast was more than adequate, but unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open for lunch or dinner while we were there. The staff, other than one young lady at front desk, didn't seem to have any recommendations for dining. Yes, there were numerous places within walking distance though many, due to time of year, weren't open!

"Great hotel"
TNBetty, 14 Juin 2019

We loved staying at Best Western Hotel Butterfly. It was close to the train station and near many restaurants and shops. We were lucky enough to receive a free upgrade which gave us a nice, large suite. We had a tub and a shower. We also had a separate sitting room and a small kitchen which we did not use. They served complimentary tea every day at 4:00pm. The breakfast was included, was plentiful and had a large variety of items to suit everyone. The staff were all very friendly. We would definitely stay here again!

"Best hotel base in Zermatt, Suisse"
VictoriaMoonYen, 04 Juin 2019

I love and recommended best hotel/ Serving best delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room is amazing, clean, comfortable bed, Bathroom is spotless clean and wide. With awesome whimsical view of balcony overlooking the mountain ranges of Matterhorn. Zermatt is the base to hike Matterhorn Peak, The town itself is like a Fairytales place and lots of restaurants and shops to choose. To reach this place is through train ride only. No car allowed in this town. Visit Sept 2018

"Great location, modern rooms, great internet, great service!"
KathyLoby, 01 Juin 2019

We spent 3 nights. Very modern rooms. Smart tv. We could watch our own Netflix and Dish Anywhere. Strong internet. Large balcony with beautiful views. Quiet, comfortable, conveniently located near downtown and the train station. Great breakfast. We will stay there again...loved it!

"Wonderful place to stay"
1SandraD60, 30 Mai 2019

First time in Zermatt. Found this through BW and searching Trip Advisor. EXCELLENT !!! Buffet is outstanding. Sandrine was pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay here again. No Question. Rooms were so nice and big with a balcony

"Consistent service and care"
b3achbuddy, 29 Mai 2019

This hotel is a resort in a resort town, they have all the facilities of a Spa resort. Whenever I stay in a big Hotel company, I try to remember the service they have provided me from other branches, the standard should be world class level. And so far Best Western have consistent good service and care for their customers, I think that's what we're paying for. When we have arrived late in the afternoon, I feel at home and comfortable immediately. The room is clean and small but not cramp because every space has it's function. There's terrace which is a bonus! The breakfast included is simple but sufficient. There's a lot of shops, restaurants and cafes in the area that's just walk-able from the hotel. It's 5 minutes walk from Gonergratbahn and Zermatt station. I recommend this place if you'll be using their facilities and if you're staying longer inside the hotel. But if you only need a bed and a breakfast place, there's other places much cheaper in the area.

"Best location and wonderful breakfast"
vvraoca, 26 Mai 2019

We stayed in this hotel for two nights ,,,its location is just 2mins from the Zermatt station and beautiful rooms with a balcony.... view of the snow capped mountains .. we wished we had stayed for more days ,, The breakfast is excellent ,,and very helpful staff .. Walking distance about three minutes to the Gornergrat bahn ,,to take the ride up to the matterhorn mountain view ..

"Excellent location; distracted, unfriendly front desk people"
Iseeitnow, 26 Mai 2019

Close to train station and main street of town. I thought the breakfast was good. The room was a little noisy, but comfortable enough. But dealing with the front desk was as if I were speaking between people who were unaware of my presence. Picture one person sitting behind main desk and one standing over to the side. When I did get a response, it was an arrogant one. Awkward.

"Great location"
Cubfan613, 26 Mai 2019

Great location, just next to train station. Every room has a porch. Nice breakfast. Modern;y furnished. We left early in the morning and night before they packed us breakfast to go. That was above and beyond what was necessary.

"Fantastic hotel when spending time in Zermatt."
201greggm, 24 Mai 2019

My wife and I flew to Europe from Canada and drove throughout and stayed in five countries. The Best Western Butterfly Inn, in Zermatt Switzerland was hands down the best and nicest hotel to stay in that we had in Europe. The front desk staff were friendly, polite and very helpful. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The breakfast was great and had the most variety to choose from than any other place we stayed at. If your travels ever take you to Zermatt to see the beautiful Swiss Alps (the Matterhorn) we highly recommend this hotel to stay at.

"A very good location near the train station "
peakiek, 22 Mai 2019

Our room in the hotel was on the top floor .It was spacious and had a lot of character. The view from the balcony was lovely .There was a small table and chair outside..The one drawback to the room is the low beams in the sleeping area and bathroom. A tall person has to be careful!. The breakfast was good. The one drawback is that there is no one at the front desk between 11pm and 630 am.They do provide a phone number ,but life happens. We definitely enjoyed our stay .

"Yes a great comfortable place"
AceMurphyGolf, 21 Mai 2019

As I travel many places in Europe I find that the hotels rooms tend to be the afterthought in all of the other things that go on in the towns I visit. This is certainly not the case here. Recessed lighting and an actual large screen television are the start. Comfortable bedding and the best shower I've had are the completion of a room well done. The breakfast buffet in the morning was varied and delicious. Food that was appreciated by each of the five different taste profiles in our group. The hotel was warm and comfortable, the staff helpful and responsive. #Value

"Cute Hotel"
jillbean_tx, 08 Mai 2019

The hotel is cute and close to the train station. You do get views of the surrounding mountains. The room was nice and larger than we expected. However, the room was sooo HOT that we could not sleep. We had to open the windows even though it was snowing out and the room still would not cool off. We tried to adjust the thermostat but that didn't work and we didn't see any sort of air duct. The shower also was not the best to use. The bed was also two mattresses put together which we were not expecting. I would recommend making sure the temperature in your room is what you want when checking in or switch rooms. They have a computer and print to use but the printer was not working. The breakfast was decent but on the small side in terms of what they had available compared to other hotels we stayed at. The balcony was nice to sit out on and view the mountains.

"Holiday in the Alps- beautiful Zermatt"
Richarad, 04 Mai 2019

Enjoy four days in this majestic village with blue sky , full sun and snow covered alps . The hotel is modestly appointed unusually no fridge however there is an ice maker on the ground floor. This is a very busy time in Zermatt for building and Renovations after winter season and prior to the summer season , check out if the hotel is having any work during this period . Butterfly is well situated and good breakfast and happy staff . All good in a fabulous village in the sky

"Good for value"
914starlightp, 27 Avril 2019

The hotel is Just 5 mins to the main station. The breakfast is good with fruit and very delicious bread . The room has small open air balcony. Only one thing to complain is there is no refrigerator in the room. Room is spacious.

"Perfect"
swissiam, 13 Avril 2019

This hotel exceeded all of our expectations. It is close to the train station and Gornergrat bahn. The breakfast was yummy and the front end staff was so helpful! Our room was very spacious....more like an American sized hotel. I would stay here again!

"Very good"
grandoj, 06 Avril 2019

This is a lovely hotel right in the town centre of Zermatt, with easy access from the train station. Rooms are comfortable and nice, a combination of modern and vintage. Their restaurant is excellent. We'd like to congratulate the reception team for their service.

"Fantastic hotel with a amazing restaurant"
Cruiser61018594738, 02 Avril 2019

The hotel is just a block or so off the main road so it is very quiet. The best part of this hotel was the restaurant. Ana my sever was the sweetest and most helpful person. The food was amazing. Home cooked meals from scratch. I could eat there all of the time!!!!! Just wow.

"Welcoming atmosphere and helpful staff"
crabapple58, 01 Avril 2019

Conveniently situated 10 minutes walk from the town center, Hotel Butterfly, is a true find. It is quiet with many shared spaces to read, drink, relax, play pool, and visit. There is an easy access ski storage room, an electric shuttle with driver, and staffed front desk. Meals were good with plenty of choices. We paid for breakfast and dinner 1/2 board , so to avoid overpriced 'gourmet' establishments, which is the norm for Zermatt. Exceptional servers, Patricia, Anna and Antonio, were always ready to fill a water glass, bring coffee. or explain a menu item. After a long day on the slopes, complimentary hot tea and fresh pastries were available. The rooms were spotless. Sandrine at the front desk, always had a smile on her face and eager to answer any questions. She was able to help me with a ski glove loan as my ski tote had not arrived. The owner, Frank Schilling, routinely stops at the diners' tables to inquire about their day, offer suggestions, answer any questions.

"No refund for a cancelled stay"
audra924, 25 Mars 2019

I booked a one night stay and cancelled it within 3 days. The stay wasn't until another 2.5 months. The location charged me for the entire night's stay saying that it was a non-refundable cancellation. Having cancelled a stay months in advance, there should be no reason why I should have been charged. There is plenty of time for them to book that room again. I am very disappointed by the way this has been handled, and I would never recommend them.

"Lovely place with amazing service"
Kungshojd75, 04 Mars 2019

We stayed here again for the second time now. It was just as good as the last time, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the breakfast is really good, the atmosphere is really cozy and the afternoon tea (a wonderful selection of teas, coffee and cookies) is adding to the high level of feel-good. And last but not least - the staff is amazing :-)

"Great location"
beefmilk, 19 Février 2019

Except for great location, a view from my room was really nice too. Especially when it's snow. And one incredible things for me is an elevator. I've never see the elevator like this before. :) If I have a chance, I will stay here again for sure.

"Great location"
mi22787, 16 Février 2019

Zermatt is very cute town you don't see cars only tiny taxi. We love this hotel which is close train station. You don't need to pull your luggages to walk so long from station. It's so clean and warm, nice room. They provide very good breakfast in the morning and tea time afternoon. They have very good hot tea. And staffs and service are great. We really injoy there.

"great hotel in a perfect location"
txaggiegirl11, 25 Janvier 2019

Stayed here for three nights. The location of this hotel is VERY close and convenient to the train station that comes from Tasch. The pricing of the hotel is also very reasonable and affordable compared to the other hotels in the area. Spacious modern rooms and bathrooms. The front desk ladies were very hospitable as well as the rest of the staff. The breakfast that was included each morning was delicious. I believe this is the perfect location because it is in the middle of everything. Ski rentals and the bus that takes you to Rothorn, Gornergrat and Matterhorn is right across from train stations and about two minutes from the hotel. Definitely coming back to Zermatt and staying at this hotel again!

"Love This Hotel - Great Pricing and Location"
karbop1, 12 Janvier 2019

We stayed here in June 2018. We parked our rental car and took the train in. We got off the train and there was an electric van from the hotel waiting in front. We loaded our things and got on. I knew the hotel was close but it was embarrassingly close. Our room had a great balcony with a peek-a-boo view of the Matterhorn. Very friendly staff, the room was really nice with a fairly large bathroom. Really good breakfast each day. I love Zermatt and I would definitely stay here on my next visit. I highly recommend based on price, location and service.

"Loved Best Western Hotel Butterfly"
Leaf75, 29 Décembre 2018

Stayed two nights over Christmas, wished we could of stayed longer! Rooms were a good size, loved bathroom with large bath, shower & ceiling window. Beds were warm & comfortable, good choice of English channels on tv & fabulous view from our balcony. Staff were very welcoming, breakfast was fantastic & complimentary afternoon tea was also amazing, particularly after a cold day. Wifi in our room was terrible, but worked well in downstairs area. Would certainly stay again if I return to Zermatt!

"Very nice hotel in a great location"
toddp460, 13 Décembre 2018

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. This hotel is about a 2 minute walk from the train station. It is a great location in downtown Zermatt. The staff was very friendly especially the short blonde hair woman at the front desk (sorry I don't remember her name). The rooms were very spacious, clean, and beds were comfortable. We had a balcony overlooking the town which was a great view. The WIFI worked very well. Breakfast was included and was very good. The price of the room was very reasonable for Zermatt. I would stay there again if we go back - definitely recommend it.

"Super close to train station"
thomasdemaar, 04 Novembre 2018

A clean, friendly spot that is super short walk to train station which is nice if you are dragging baggage. Breakfast has nice variety. Balcony is a plus. I do not usually look for chain hotels but this one feels like a local Swiss establishment. Only down side was TV menu. There were news channels in over a dozen languages which is impressive but no entertainment: movies, programs etc. except in German. I tried to hack someone's Netflik account but stopped.

"Excellent rooms, staff, and location"
Bodie1975, 03 Novembre 2018

I traveled here with my 71 yr old father from the States. The hotel is close to the train station (he walked there with his backpack on as we were traveling by train from Paris). The hotel is better than any Best Western I've ever stayed at in the States. Rooms (including bathroom) are large for Europe, price is reasonable, staff is very friendly and staff speaks excellent English. They also gave us tips on things in town and on taking the train to the Matterhorn. The train to the Matterhorn is a short walk (across from the main train station) and the must-see attraction in Zermatt. Ask for a lower-level room (we stayed in 102) and you will have a nice back terrace to relax with a beautiful view.

"Great location, close to train"
bdweave02, 01 Novembre 2018

Highly recommended. Clean comfortable room, friendly staff and terrific breakfast. We had a balcony room which was spacious and we lacked for nothing. Candy dish in room and lobby, chocolate on pillow and apples available in lobby. Highly recommended!

"Wish we had stayed longer"
Mike T, 14 Octobre 2018

My wife and I stayed here overnight before catching the Glacier Express. The hotel is very well located to the train stations (the main bahn and the cog to Gornergrat), both are mere minutes walk. It is also seconds from the main street and a quick walk up the street gets you to viewing locations of the Matterhorm and all the shopping you could desire. The staff are very friendly and helpful. While waiting to speak to the front desk lady I am sure I heard her speak 3 languages before switching to English for me. The rooms are comfortable and the bed was great for us. The bathroom was immaculate and modern although the shower took me a minute or two to figure out. The tv was huge and the selection of channels was large (several were English) although we didn't spend much time watching it. Breakfast was typically European with cheese, pastries, fruit, yogurt, bread of various types and a selection of cereals. There was also a hot selection of eggs, baked beans and pancakes. We had to leave early the next morning to catch our train, next time we will stay longer to explore Zermatt a bit more, and we will definitely return to the BW Butterfly.

"Good experience"
Andreita_12, 12 Octobre 2018

From the person who greeted us at the front desk (Betty) to the waitress in the restaurant, one of the most appealing features of this hotel is the friendly staff. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, although a bit small. I don't love the 2 separate twin beds pushed together, but found out that this is common practice in Switzerland.

"Friendly and helpful staff."
tillydog401, 09 Octobre 2018

Rooms were cozy and clean. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. The complimentary afternoon tea and pastries were a real treat. The hotel was situated in the middle of the village with easy access to shopping and restaurants.

"Highly recommended"
terrirorycolours, 30 Septembre 2018

We visited 4 countries in Europe and even though the accommodation was more expensive in Zermatt (skiing & attractions), Best Western Butterfly was the best - they served the best tea, had happy hour with complimentary cakes, complimentary fruit, the breakfasts including bercher museli and creamy yogurt, eggs, ham and hot goods was delicious. Nothing was too difficult, all the staff were friendly. The comfort extended to the ensuite with lucious body wash and SOFT toilet paper!

"A surprise packet"
janicehmartin44, 21 Septembre 2018

This hotel is right in the middle of town. I was picked up at the station. I had arranged that by email as I could not ring. This is an older style hotel but nicely presented and staff very welcoming and helpful. Food was lovely and waitresses so friendly. They post your letters for you and gave me fresh towels each day even though I did not expect that. Flowers adorn the hotel which make it look lovely. Beds extremely comfortable and lovely and clean. Overall a nice place to stay.

"convenient stay"
Maqsud D, 09 Septembre 2018

I stayed here with my wife & mother. I have booked for 2 nights as I was in Zermatt for my trail race. The hotel was mot too huge but it was really nicely put up & crafted which gives you local feel of matterhorn. Service : 4 / 5 Services were good. Had a pool table, computer for internet excess in the lobby, tea – coffee & pastries plus ice tea & fruits complimentary for all guests, courteous staff at their reception, restau cum bar. They also have complimentary pick & drop facility from & to the Zermatt station. Breakfast : 3 / 5 Their spread was above average, both the days same things were served which was a disappointment. Food presentation good, varieties average, taste good. All together we were satisfied by food they served but recommend to change the menu daily. Room : 3.5 / 5 Room was specious & enough for a couple but little congested for 2 +. It also had a small balcony access to the main market plus a sofa cum bed with a nice spacious bathroom. Basic amenities in the room were complimentary. Just to inform that after opening of sofa cum bed hardly any space left in the room. Staff : 3.5 / 5 Staffs were good, polite & helpful. Overall : 4 / 5 I am satisfied by my stay at Best Western Hotel Butterfly, though it was an expensive affair but was worth the wonga spent as it was conveniently located & awesome weather. Surely recommend for people who prefers staying near main market.

"Cute classic in a busy town"
Ed Maier or Bar... M, 04 Septembre 2018

Shuttle from train, comfortable small room with balcony ciew of the mountains. Easy downhill walk to main shopping and dining street. Close to cograil up the mountain. Free basic Swiss breakfast and dinner menu at reasonable price.

"Prettiest hotel in Zermatt"
TheGoBird, 30 Août 2018

This hotel truly is the prettiest hotel in Zermatt - just like the photo in their advertisement. The hotel is perfectly situated close to the train station and center of town - yet tucked off on a quiet side street. They help wasn't friendly but they were efficient.

"Very good Hotel"
Maureen C, 30 Août 2018

This Hotel as others have stated is very convenient for the Station which is just round the corner, although the location is wonderfully quiet. It's off the busy main high street. Our room exceeded expectations. Was a 3rd floor room newly refurbished and a very modern Shower room, with big walk in shower. Wonderful lighting, large flat screen TV with English channels, very well designed, spacious with a big balcony and mountain views. Bed was comfortable and the room also had kettle with tea and coffee. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We were on a half board booking which included a packed lunch and afternoon tea and cakes. Breakfast quite good, packed lunch fairly poor so skipped this after 2 days. The afternoon tea was excellent and Dinner a mostly a very good 5 course meal. Appetisers were excellent, main course we found too large and not as tasty as starters and dessert very good. So overall I would rate Hotel very good and value for money. Would probably return.

"Excellent"
Terri C, 24 Août 2018

This is a lovely hotel, extremely close to station and the main street with lots of shops and eateries. Hotel staff very helpful and room was spacious, modern, clean and very comfortable. Lovely balcony to. Highly recommend.

"Gorgeous room"
jhille29, 20 Août 2018

Highly recommend this hotel!! The room we stayed in on the 5th floor was so beautiful with it's cute terrace overlooking the mountains. Good location too, it's so close to the train station. And they have free breakfast plus afternoon tea. Will stay here again.

"A great place to stay"
Liz B, 19 Août 2018

Very happy with this motel. Great location being only about 5 minutes walk from the train station. Front staff very friendly. Clean and quiet room however no fridge. I did ask for fresh milk for my room to make a cuppa and staff happy to arrange asap. Good tv reception and lovely bathroom. They offered free tea and cake between 4 & 5.30 which was really lovely at the end of the day. Breakfast was good and staff very polite and friendly

"Great location , very comfortable hotel "
ajlip, 14 Août 2018

Very close to the train station . Helpful staff . Lovely complimentary afternoon tea and very good breakfast included . Nice room with flower potted balcony and a super shower . Unfortunately our trip to Zermatt was marred by cloud and rain but the hotel was excellent.

"Excellent location near railway station"
J0hnJill_15, 13 Août 2018

Good room with coffee/tea making facilities, shared outside garden area and good bathroom. TV with good channel selection. Reception staff most helpful and only too happy to store our cases till the room was ready. Excellent breakfast included. Walking distance from railway station and just by the main street. Could not be a better location - no need to worry about a taxi. Nice and quiet.

"Great hotel in Zermatt"
bhargavipl, 10 Août 2018

Hotel was clean, No foul odors. Front desk staff were professional. Breakfast is great and the servers are very professional as well. Location is ideal. Very close to the train station and all the activities in Zermatt. Very good hotel for the price.

"A Good experience"
228linda, 06 Août 2018

This was a lovely hotel, to go with the very charming village, there was a complimentary shuttle to and from the train station which was not very far away. Was close to plenty of eating places and within walking distance of some amazing sights. Our room had a balcony and there was also a laundry and the hotel, staff were very helpful and service excellent.

"Great hotel"
Ces A, 04 Août 2018

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three days. The hotel is very close to the train station and yet it is far from the noise. Our room was newly remodeled and very modern with a balcony. The receptionist was friendly and helpful with all our needs. Breakfast was alright with me but my husband loves the variety of food that was served. I recommend this place.

"Great location."
Sweta A, 25 Juillet 2018

Clean Hotel with a great location. Big and clean bathrooms. Very close to the train station and main street. Walkable to so many cafes, souvenir shops and restaurants. Chocolate store is right across the street and so is the supermarket. Just loved the location.

"A real Swiss welcome"
PhotoD13, 25 Juillet 2018

A week long stay in the delightful Hotel Butterfly as part of an organised walking trip from the UK passed all too quickly. The entire team in this cosy hotel worked very hard to ensure that the guests were well cared for in a warm and homely environment. While my sister and I were privileged to have a particularly spacious room, each room appears to enjoy a flower festooned balcony. The Hotel Butterfly is just two minutes from the Station square, giving access to both the main Gotthard Matterhorn Railway to Brig and the Gornergrat Railway high up in the alpine peaks. The other two gondola services are also manageable distances away - perhaps ten minutes or less by foot. Butterfly Hotel offers complimentary tea and cakes every afternoon, while the rooms also have a kettle and tea/coffee. We enjoyed a half board arrangement and the five course dinners were varied and delicious, as were the breakfasts. Highly recommended.

"Exactly what we expected "
Jackthedog88, 13 Juillet 2018

Perfect location and better than fair price. I've room with large bed, shower, and tv. Excellent staff and free breakfast. Only downside is no AC but they brought us a fan. I was very happy with this hotel

"Great family retreat"
wilkinsona2015, 10 Juillet 2018

We have been regular visitors to the Butterfly for the last 15 years - and it only gets better! The staff rank as some of the best we have ever encountered. Nothing is any trouble to them. The refurbished rooms, especially the bathrooms and technology, have brought the hotel right into the 21st century. The New Year's Eve celebrations are always the highlight of our trip, with Frank and Simone the most welcoming and attentive hosts.

"Nice place to stay in Zermatt"
Anu N, 26 Juin 2018

Stayed in the Butterfly hotel last week , it's a lovely property , very close to station yet out of the hustle bustle of it . We took a room for 3, with a king size bed & a separate sofa bed. It was a very nicely done room with comfortable beds, a spacious bathroom with a good size bath tub and a small but lovely balcony with a picturesque Alpine view .Service was pretty good , all the housekeepers were really efficient , receptionists & waiters were friendly & welcoming . Breakfast was fabulous , with a really elaborate spread with both cooked & cold options & very good quality eggs , bacon , ham & cold meats , superb bread & cheese , fruits , tea , coffee , juices etc. they have a really good afternoon tea, with coffee , tea , doughnuts & cakes , served on the house . Another very useful feature is a self service launderette in the basement . Only small problem was the wifi...signal was quite weak in the room , but better in the reception .They have an electric vehicle also , & dropped us off to the station . We've spent two very peaceful days here & really want to come back again .

"Excellent location and nice room"
Yun Xuan W, 24 Juin 2018

We enjoyed our stay in hotel Butterfly when we visited zermatt in May. We were given the highest level and the view is nice. Can see the tip of Matterhorn if the sky is clear. We love sitting outside at the balcony with a glass of wine and just enjoying the scenery and the cool weather. Plenty of shops just walkable from the hotel and it's accessible to everywhere. It's about 5 mins walk from the train station hence you don't need to worry about walking too far to your hotel. The only down side is that we feel that the air in the room is quite still and a little dusty as we have sensitive nose. Other than that I Strongly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again when I visit zermatt.

"Excellent "
Avril60, 20 Juin 2018

This was my favourite hotel in my entire Switzerland tour with Cosmos. The hotel is conveniently located within 5 mins walk from train station. Zermatt is a very compact town and very walkable. So we kept going in and out of the hotel, taking short walks and back to rest and out again. Rooms are big, very clean, and modern with USB charging outlets in the room. Beds are incredibly comfortable. TV was high definition and reception was perfect. They placed some sweets in the room and has apples in the lobby which was a nice touch. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Food was well presented and delicious. Service staff was very professional. My friend enjoyed the soup and asked for a second helping and the staff gladly obliged although it was a set menu included in the tour package. There were no frowns or raised eyebrows. The cons: Due to the set up of the rooms, wifi reception from my room was not perfect. Also, the receptionist could learn to smile a little. Given all the positives I experienced in this hotel, I'm happy to give a pass on those.

"Staff and Incredible breakfast!"
emayi, 18 Juin 2018

Our experience at the Best Western Hotel Butterfly was superb! They were very accommodating, gracious and helpful in every way! The breakfast has plenty of options, I would stay here just for the breakfast alone!

"Amazing Stay"
lLinda2009, 18 Juin 2018

Had an amazing view from the room. Breakfast was really good and have a big selection. Great location near the train station and easy walk over the town. Only stated 1 night but I highly recommend a longer stay.

"Clean and convenient to train "
BBS1230, 17 Juin 2018

Clean. Walking distance from train station. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast included. Has hotel taxi if needed. Convenient to walking thru town. No air conditioning but t cooled off at night. Our bed not very comfortable but the couple with us had no complaints.

"Nice location, great views and nice room"

We had a fantastic stay here. The room was new, very clean with a very comfortable bed and a great shower The hotel is in a really good location just behind the main street, has s great breakfast and nice staff Would stay here again

"Quaint Hotel, Good Location"
Dale L, 15 Juin 2018

When I think about Zermatt, I will always remember the noice. Jackhammers, earth moving equipment, power saws, and even a helicopter flying continuously overhead. Fortunately the noice was only during the day. At night, quiet. The Hotel Butterfly, an easy walk from the train station, is a nice quaint hotel. The rooms are nice size and bed was comfortable. The room has a nice balcony with a view of the mountains. Nice breakfast was included. The elevators are a bit old and small.

"Great place to stay and close to the Railway Station"
courtresort, 07 Juin 2018

Stayed for two nights and found it to be excellent in every way. Close to the railway and close to everything, even the Gornegrat rail. Staff were helpful and friendly and the restaurant was excellent. Happy to re-visit as we just felt at home.

"Quaint"
Bing18Oct17, 26 Mai 2018

Friendly staff and quaint hotel. Good balcony view of the mountains. Fantastic breakfast. Dinner was recently priced. It was a 3 course dinner and food was good. The lifts are a bit old and small. Good thing my room was on the second floor!

"great hotel and wonderful staff"
seirnal, 19 Mai 2018

I'd like to thank Aurelia, the receptionist, who is very nice and caring, came up to the room to show us how to open the balcony door, which is a total new way to us. She also told us lots info about restaurants cake shops... to put on sunscreen, cause the sun there IS very strong. She even went out of her way to show us the mountain, very sweet. Bach, the manager staying late, is very friendly. A blonde long hair lady, receptionist, helped arranged the TV fixing guy; and another long brunette hair with eye glasses who usually sits in the office was very helpful too. Almost forgot to mention the breakfast servers, mainly three, a lady with glasses and pony tail, an older gentleman and a younger gentleman with glasses, very professional, polite and friendly. and great breakfast for us to ski 6 days on the mountain. They really made our 10 days in Zermatt more enjoyable and fun. Thank you!

"Good location "
Lonsgal, 01 Mai 2018

Chosen by our tour company for the proximity to the station. Room clean and well appointed and comfortable. Strange layout of rooms and the entire hotel and scary little lifts. Delicious dinner for our group and adequate breakfast buffet. Hard to get more coffee, though, as the one waiter must bring by the cup...no refill pot or self service. Staff were friendly, but not up to par....our room never got serviced today at all.

"good hotel with a very convenient location"
nandank, 01 Mai 2018

Great location near the railway station. the size of the rooms is reasonably large. Staff is very helpful and friendly. from some rooms one can see Matterhorn mountain , these are the rooms to stay in. good breakfast

"Great hotel with convenient location to Train shuttle!"
Paul B, 25 Avril 2018

Stayed two nights in April 2018. Rooms were a good size and very tidy with a view of the mountains. Breakfast was included and was an excellent selection. Has a relatively small lift but handles two people with ease. Would return to this hotel again without question. Service staff were also great.

"Reasonable price for good location, comfy bed, good breakfast, friendly staff"
Anak S, 22 Avril 2018

Located near main train station, reasonable price for this location, good breakfast, friendly staff, very comfy bed. Air con and heater switch in the room seems simple but didn't seem to operate well, our room was neither too hot or cold though.

"Great hotel - lovely stay"
Ann W, 02 Avril 2018

The hotel is in an excellent location only a few minutes walk from the station and the Gornergrat station. It is in the heart of the town with all its shops, cafes etc so is ideal for skiers and also for non skiers. As it is set back from the main street on a little side road the hotel is nice and quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The waiters could not be more attentive. All of them were excellent including Raphaelo and the unforgettable Franco. The food was very good indeed. The five course meal every night was a little too much for me as a non skiers but welcomed by the skiers. Some bedrooms have been refurbished and are very smart. We were in the accessible room which had not been refurbished but was a very good size and very comfortable.

"Very nice hotel, super friendly staff"
Marc E, 24 Mars 2018

Conveniently located within walking distance from the train station- nice spacious rooms, super friendly staff - great ski trip with the manager to Italy. The perfect Hotel for an uncomplicated Zermatt holiday.

"Fantastic "
Weejesssuecon, 22 Mars 2018

We spent a week at hotel Butterfly on a Skiing holiday and it was fabulous. The room was recently renovated with all mod cons and a comfy bed. All areas of the hotel were very clean. All the staff were very friendly nothing was too trouble. The food was excellent. The breakfast was a buffet style with a choice of hot and cold food. Tea and cake served late afternoon. Five course waiter served dinner with a changed menu each night. Great location would definitely return and recommend.

"Just spent a fantastic week in Zermatt"
Russell1966, 18 Mars 2018

We have just returned home from a fantastic week in the Swiss ski resort of Zermatt. My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Butterfly and we can honestly say it was the most welcoming hotel we have ever stayed in. The hotel is in an ideal location minutes away from the Gornergrat mountain railway, ski bus stop and the main railway station into the village. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout our stay. Our room was very spacious and although it had yet to be modernised, as part of the hotels revamp, it did not look tired and had everything needed, including a fabulous balcony over looking the mountains. The beds were the most comfortable of any hotel we have stayed at and the shower was amazing. The day started with a very extensive breakfast selection and ended with a varied five coarse dinner menu with a wine list to match, both of which were amazing for the entire week. The town, unlike some of the purpose built resorts has a lot of character and has bars and restaurants to suit everyone's tastes and moods, from lively apres ski to relaxed evening out. The town is nestled in the middle of some fantastic mountain scenery and of coarse is over looked by the mighty Matterhorn. The ski area of Zermatt is amazing, well linked, well maintained and more than enough to keep one busy for the entire week add the link over into Italy and it has convinced us that we need to go back and back and back. In short, Zermatt is fabulous and if you want to have a trip there, which we recommend, the Hotel Butterfly is the perfect base for your stay. We would like to take this opportunity the thank the Hotel Butterfly's Manager and staff, for making our ski holiday unforgettable. Russell and Suzanne

"Friendly hotel"
George F, 08 Mars 2018

Close to City centre, friendly staff, good food. What more can you wish for? We stayed for 5 nights with half board. The rooms are large and fairly modern, the breakfast consists of a large variety of food with a possibility of ordering omelettes etc. Dinner great. Very friendly staff. They've been there for ages, and many guests stay there year after year. For a good reason. Don't miss out Franco the bartender!

"A week in the snow"
mjoliver73, 05 Mars 2018

Travelling to perhaps the finest ski resort in Europe with your son does not come cheap but it is nice to offer a strong recommendation to this lovely hotel offering relatively good value. The hotel is very well positioned within a minute or two walk from both the main station and the Gornegrat mountain ski train. Added to that it also retains a fair amount of local Swiss charm as part of the Best Western chain. Staff were very friendly and efficient at check in. We had a bed and breakfast package with the breakfast room being very comfortable and the food very pleasant, served by very efficient staff. Our room was nice and the shower in particular was good which always helps in the perception of a quality hotel. The room was quiet and we were not disturbed. The hotel had a nice spa area which was very clean. There was no pool. All in all I can highly recommend well positioned hotel.

"Ok Hotel with poor heating system"
eurovisitor2012, 04 Mars 2018

Had a horrible experience at the hotel last week. Heating was not functioning at the hotel. It was extremely hot in our room and we could not control lower heating. Lady staffer at the reception was very rude. When we asked her to get the thermostat fixed, she checked the heating and said it cannot be fixed. She suggested that we open the windows and sleep and told us that that is how she sleeps at her home. Honestly we care a less of how she sleeps at her house. She made no attempt to call maintenance staff to fix the heating. I requested to speak to the manager and was told that he had gone home for the day. We feel that we have been cheated by this hotel and did not get the worth of our stay. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Great family stay for our 1 week ski trip"
Ming Y, 20 Février 2018

Frank the owner is very friendly and the staff is helpful. The hotel is in the lane right turn after McDonald's and before Sportina store off the main road. It is actually very close to the arrival train station. There are 2 supermarkets nearby and many stores around. It is in a very convenient location. It is nice to have breakfast included so we would eat and then head off the ski without worrying about finding breakfast every morning. I think that the breakfast is great. Simple staple breakfast food with 4 warm dishes everyday. Scrambled eggs , baked beans, hard boiled eggs, waffle/pancake/crepe and bacon/sausage. There are also the cold The ski room is very convenient. The rooms we had were the family rooms on the 4th floor. Newly renovated and fabulous. It worked out great for my 3 boys and myself. There is also complimentary tea time every day from 4-6pm. Very nice and easy going staff. There is a large iMac for guest use as well as a billard/pool room for my kids to entertain themselves. I would definitely come back again.

"Superb location. Great rooms. Awesome staff!"
pragatiojha, 03 Février 2018

Amazing hotel and staff! It is only a 5 minute walk from the the train station but the location might be tricky to find. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with all the facilities. The breakfast was the best we had during our trip. However, what really made our stay memorable was the extremely hospitable staff. They were very friendly and gave a lot of practical information about the area. Also, our camera memory was full and we needed to upload our pictures to free up the space. The hotel manager let us use his computer for high speed internet and we were able to get the work done. Interacting with these people was a great part of our cultural experience!

"Zermatt 2018"
John Roy S, 31 Janvier 2018

I stade in this hotel for a two week stay and could not fined fault. From room to food and all the staff, first class All rooms have balcony and good size bathrooms beds are comfortable and fissility's are good Diner, five courses of good food with nice wines Nice polite staff and good management all come together to make a good holiday I shall defiantly be returning at some point

"Good hotel, expensive wine"
IanK599, 28 Janvier 2018

Booked into this hotel as part of an Inghams ski package. Our arrival slightly delayed due to snow conditions but the hotel electric vehicle met our group of 6 at the station. Unfortunately for the return the hotel transport does not start work until 07.00 so for our 06.13 train we had to carry bags to station. Our room was a "Classic Twin" which had 2 single beds placed together and room for 2 small sofas. I had emailed the hotel to ask for a bath as not all rooms have one. The room was always warm. The hotel has a good-sized, warm ski/boot room with boot warmers. The hot breakfast was somewhat limited - scrambled egg & cheese sausage alternated with scrambled egg & bacon - although you can order fried eggs. The evening meals were varied but sometimes a bit bland. The hotel is about 100M walk to the Gornergrat station and ski bus stop. You have to accept that Switzerland is an expensive place for a ski holiday but 42 CHF for a basic bottle of Pinot Grigio is a bit excessive. However, have to agree that the hotel staff were all very friendly.

"Very nice and comfortable hotel, highly recommended!"
FaizPiperdy, 27 Janvier 2018

We had a very comfortable 2-night stay here while we were in Zermatt. Hotel is very nice, rooms are very comfortable and nicely furnished. The weather turned quite bad after our Gornegrat trip on the second day and we were happy to just stay in and enjoy the hotel and the room. Highly recommended!

"Wonderful Stay!"
erikasR3752GO, 04 Janvier 2018

The hotel accommodations and staff were fantastic. The price was very good especially considering the comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast and helpful staff. Perfect location too. We would recommend this to anyone traveling to Zermatt.

"Great Stay"
VJ-AD, 26 Décembre 2017

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was spacious, cozy and comfortable. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. We missed our breakfast as we reached late to the table, but the staff offered us whatever they could to assure we aren't leaving without having our breakfast. The room and restroom were neat and clean. No complaints. I certainly can say that my wife and I were very satisfied with Best Western Hotel Butterfly and would recommend it highly to all friends and visitors viewing this review.

"Great location and very nice."
MarkT29, 20 Décembre 2017

We stayed here and were very pleased with the room. The location made it easy to walk to town and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was really great and you must try the homemade yogurt and cheeses.

"Wonderful hotel!"
everwonder88, 10 Novembre 2017

This hotel was perfect! Position, cleanliness, amenities, the room, breakfast, the staff - were all wonderful. Thank you Frank for looking after us so well. We really enjoyed our stay. Hope to return someday to enjoy everything this place has to offer.

"Well Placed"
Damian G, 05 Novembre 2017

The hotel was situated close to the main station, COOP shopping and very central for those who wish to explore. Zermatt is by any stretch of the imagination, cheap. This hotel was of a good standard and good quality. Nothing to brag about, sufficient for the 4 nights we had here. The beds did the job, it was just a shame they were on roll in trundle style beds, with metal legs that folded away if need be. We had no issues with noise during the stay even though they were working on the building for the entire time we were there, it did not bother us at all as we did not plan on being in our room during the day, it was a place to sleep and that is all. Staff were ok, seemed to be wrapped up in their papers or computers when one walked past, didnt really say hi unless you said it first. Breakfast was sufficient, it was just a shame when the group that were staying there at the time we were, from Asia, that they took all the food from the hot bar and for the 30-45mins we were there, the staff never refilled the hot food at all. I guess they knew these folk would devour it all again, so they might have waited until they left before putting out food again, but it was just a shame for 2 of our 4 breakfasts we had to settle for yoghurts and cheeses and were unable to eat pancakes and bacon due to a few guests who felt they were the only ones allowed to eat warm meals for breakfast! All in all, i give this a 3 star rating, nothing to do with other guests, more to the fact that the staff were not really up for doing their jobs as much as one would have liked, shame though. Nice hotel, Nice location, average staff bringing the score down from a possible 4 to a 3.

"Short visit to Best Western Hotel Butterfly"
CherylinTampa, 04 Novembre 2017

We had been traveling for 26 hours and arrived at the Zermatt train station for our short walk to Hotel Butterfly. Must of been the long days of travel but had some difficulty locating the hotel. Called and the manager in charge went above and beyond and came out to get us. We were close but it was incredibly helpful that she did that. It was late at night and she let us know where the best place that was open was so we could eat. The rooms were nice with modernized bathrooms. Breakfast was wonderful. We will return to Zermatt and definitely stay here for a longer visit. Got up the next morning and took the Glacier Express to St. Moritz. Wonderful scenery and a great way to see Switzerland.

"Wonderful location and fantastic services!"
Renata D, 26 Octobre 2017

We traveled with friends. Both rooms were pleasant and had that alpine feel. Franco the barman is a great addition to the hotel. He speaks 4 languages and his personality is to make you feel like he is your friend We found out about not only the hotel and its services but also about the live and what to see there. If we go again I love to stay there and woul recommend it to others.

"Great location"
Ann H, 26 Octobre 2017

We stayed four nights at this hotel and really enjoyed it. The view from our balcony was down the valley over a nearby hotel, but still pretty. We were only a block from the train station and just off the main walkway. Everyday they had a free tea, with fresh pastries and lots of tea. We would sit in the bar with our tea and plan the next days events. The staff were very helpful and everyone spoke English. We had a great time here.

"Great visit to Hotel Butterfly!"
Anne C, 25 Octobre 2017

Hotel Butterfly was very comfortable and welcoming. It's off the main street and quiet. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and good and the service was great. It is very convenient to the train station and rail up to the Matterhorn views as well as the wonderful village!. We arrived on a rainy day, but the next day was clear and sunny for photos!

"Wonderful location and nice services"
Byung Moon L, 25 Octobre 2017

Hotel is located in a minute walking distance to all train bus stations and in the centre of shopping district. Hotel was quiet and staffs were very friendly. Food was good too. I would recommend this hotel to every travellers.

"A VERY LUCKY OVERNIGHT FIND!"
CAB54, 23 Octobre 2017

The only room in the village!!!! Phew, 9pm and we managed to get this very pleasant loft room in a beautiful and typical alpine hotel. Full of beams and character with a lovely receptionist, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was very nice and served by pleasant waiters. We left our luggage after checking out so that we could go catch the train (recommended by the receptionist) to view the Matterhorn.

"Great Stay!"
toomacks, 04 Octobre 2017

This is a chalet style hotel a quiet block and a half from the rail station. The registration area is comfortably small, well-staffed and has upholstered chairs in case of a wait. Close to registration and on the same ground floor are a meeting room with bar and a large restaurant. These public rooms are well appointed with comfortable furniture inviting gatherings. On a two-week tour of Switzerland, this was the nicest/best hotel on our itinerary. Many rooms have a balcony. Room 215 has a wraparound balcony with partial mountain views. The room was spacious, clean and had lots of closet space.

"Good Value"
GaryGramps, 04 Octobre 2017

I rate the Butterfly a five because it's a great value. iIt is an older hotel that has been renovated by Best Western in a very tasteful, warm manner. It is located just two blocks from the train station and is accessible to all activities. The staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent...you might also enjoy the complimentary tea and pastries in the afternoons, Rooms we cozy, clean and functional.

"Great location great bed"
John L, 03 Octobre 2017

Very nice hotel. Excellent service. Location is great. 5 minuets from train stations and only 15 minute walk to matterhorn gondola. Nice breakfast and a good restaurant too. I would recommend this if budget is not too big an issue

"11 days in Switzerland. ZERMATT Part 1"
GreenThumb331, 23 Septembre 2017

This hotel is very near the train station and the main street of Zermatt. We were fetched by the hotel's small jeep when we arrived. It saved us the effort of dragging our luggage and locating the back street where the hotel was situated. We took advantage of the hotel's complimentary afternoon snacks. The hotel exterior like most Zermatt hotels had an old lumber architecture design. The hotel room we had had an old local feel to it, but was comfortable. It had a foyer at the entrance which was a plus for extra space and a balcony. Breakfast was typical Swiss: bread, hams, cheese, eggs. We stayed 2 nights. We made the right choice.

"Ideal place to stay in Zermatt"
Boris09, 18 Septembre 2017

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the station and my Platinum membership. We were not disappointed. We got a newly renovated room with a comfortable bed and excellent shower. We ate both nights in the hotel restaurant as the service was excellent and the food good value for Switzerland. The fixed price menu varied each night. There was a minor issue with the hot water taking a long time to come through but it was fixed after we mentioned it. The hotel location it ideal with a short walk to the station and shops.

"Very nice hotel after a great train journey "
736markf, 17 Septembre 2017

We chose the Best Western Butterfly Hotel from TA reviews and we were very satisfied with our choice, for the following reasons: Convenient location from the Zermatt Bahnhof and the Main Street, Bahnhofstrasse. Courteous staff: front desk, room staff, restaurant staff Good wifi Generous rooms Quiet Tea and coffee Breakfast to our needs Good lifts Recommended to fellow travellers

"Very Central and wonderful hospitality"
Amanda W, 15 Septembre 2017

We stayed 3 nights here. Taxi refused to take us as was such a short walk around back of shops up the hill a little. Beautiful hotel. Great size rooms plenty if space, magnificent corner balcony, wonderful free afternoon tea every afternoon with what ever hit drink we desired made for us. Cakes included gluten free chocolate cake, donuts, biscotti, butter cake with apricot and jam donuts or what they call Berliners. Lovely bar area and great buffet breakfasts. Self service laundry, wash and dry your own clothes for 9 francs. Front desk staff fabulous hospitality.

"Average for hotels in Switzerland"
Kin Hung T, 06 Septembre 2017

I gave this hotel an average rating taking into account all 10 hotels we stayed in Switzerland. With light luggage in hand, it was about a 5 minute slightly up-slope cobble stone walk from the train station. It is located on a quiet side street at a fairly central tourist area in the old city. Check-in was okay albeit a bit business like. But the staff were quite friendly when we had to store our luggage the next day. There was no air-conditioning so the room certainly was a bit warm when it was 33 C outside. Opening the balcony door did not help too much as there is very little open space outside the hotel building itself. Thankfully temperature did cool down at night in Zermatt. There was construction at the hotel one floor above us during our one-night stay and noises did persist to around 7pm. The hotel exterior is nicely decorated with flowers but the room interior is a bit dated. There is a balcony which helped with no AC but little privacy with the neighbours. The WiFi is good and due to our travel schedule, we did not try their breakfast.

"Perfect"
Eddie D, 05 Septembre 2017

A beautiful hotel, staff friendly and helpful. Room was spacious with a nice bathroom. Balcony looked onto the Matterhorn. We had great weather whilst there which of course added to the experience. Hotel puts on afternoon tea every day for the guests. Great position, five minutes walk from railway station, in centre of Zermatt. Lovely walking trails close by. Ate at restaurant and the food and service were excellent. Good wifi. Do not hesitate to stay here.

"Comfortable and quite"
csobota, 17 Août 2017

Well located near the station and the main street, quite and clean. Staff is professional and helpfull. Nice breakfast. Zermatt is a nice place to stay even if there are a lot of tourists. Don't miss the Gornergrat funicular and the Matterhorn Museum.

"Delightful Swiss hotel"
leebee002, 16 Août 2017

The decor of this hotel has plenty of local character with timber furnishings, balconies laden with colourful flowers, and a cosy bar . It is not at all like a chain hotel. The bathrooms are well appointed with baths and showers, and kept spotlessly clean. The food in the restaurant is excellent and there is a comprehensive breakfast buffet including cereals, cooked English breakfast items, sliced cheeses and meats, toast or crunchy Swiss bread rolls, and excellent coffee. Each afternoon they serve free afternoon tea and cake. The staff are helpful and speak a variety of languages including English. There is free wi- fi. The hotel is conveniently located in the centre of the village, around the corner from the railway station and the scenic Gornergrat railway. They have an electric vehicle to take your luggage to the hotel on request, but for most people with a suitcase on wheels, it is a simple short flat walk to the hotel. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

"Comfortable hotel"
BrisBoyz, 05 Août 2017

Hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the railway station. It is set behind the main road so it is in a quite location. Hotel itself was great. Large rooms (for Europe), very friendly staff, ice available from a machine free of cost. They provide a simple afternoon tea free of cost in the bar area; cake, coffee and tea. Zermatt was unashamedly touristy but it was done very well; very cute and looked Swiss. Cable cars and funicular railways up the various mountains well worth the effort and cost.

"Comfortable and centrally located"
markypao, 03 Août 2017

We booked a triple classic room and were upgraded to the deluxe triple. Our friends had the classic triple room. So we're able to compare. I must say that the deluxe triple is much more spacious especially if traveling with kids. The spacious bathroom (room 215) was very well lit with nice tub. I would strongly recommend it. Front staff were very kind and professional and attentive. Breakfast had great coffee and the basic fare. Location is perfect base camp for hikes and restaurants. Views from hotel are not worth writing home about as you are in the town so if you need that breath of fresh air and mountain views from your balcony might want to look elsewhere. Still no regrets and do believe that it offered good value for money. Especially with the upgrade :)

"Very Nice !!"
Ron C, 02 Août 2017

We were in Zermatt for 4 days in June and stayed at Hotel Butterfly. It was very nice and comfortable. Staff were very helpful. The hotel is well located - 2 minute walk from the train station and one block back from the main road. Overall had a lovely time in Zermatt.

"A very nice and comfortable hotel"
suathong, 29 Juillet 2017

We previously visited Zermatt twice, both on a day-tour from Zurich and Lucerne. This time we stayed in the beautiful Hotel Butterfly for two nights. We chose this hotel mainly for its location, just about 150 meters from the railway station. The hotel exceeds our expectation. Firstly, the hotel is quiet as it is about 75 meters from the main street. Secondly, the room is quite spacious with plenty storage space. We had a corner room with a large balcony. It was really nice to sit in the balcony to enjoy the cool fresh air. There are many restaurants, shops and supermarkets (COOP and Migros) near the hotel. We had a enjoyable and memorable stay at Hotel Butterfly. We will definitely choose Hotel Butterfly if we have another chance to visit Zermatt. Our only regret is that we did not have a clear view of Matterhorn. We went to Sunnegga and Schwarzsee, but the Matterhorn was partly hidden by clouds on both days.

"Happy wid the !! "
sri harsha y, 18 Juillet 2017

V had stayed for 2 nights up here.. located very near to the railway station... Very friendly receptionist staff Room was clean but there was no fan so felt a bit suffocated.. "Home away from home, even for wheelchairpeople"
LouenStephan, 13 Juillet 2017

The whole staff in this hotel is so friendly for any guest. One is really a guest and a friend. Many people comes more than 1 time. This hotel has a wheelchair accessible room with a wheelchair adapted bathroom. Rooms are very clean, also the lobby, bar and restaurant. Room rate is included breakfast buffet. If one stay more days, it is well worth to stay on half board. In the daily 5-course menu, you can chose between 2 starters and between 3 main courses. Italian kitchen, Always very good The location is excellent, only a few minutes walk from the Railway station, the station of the Matterhorn Railway, the shopping street, the bus who brings you to the cable cars. Some rooms are now renovated.

"cosy, comfortable homely hotel"
PamNewall, 09 Juillet 2017

For once I had an excellent single room, double bed and all the facilities. The food was superb and plentiful. The whole hotel had a homely, family atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and most pleasant. I would love to go again

"Heavy constructions on going, avoid"
MaurizioBkk, 05 Juillet 2017

The hotel is having heavy construction on going. The room they gave us had part of the balcony blocked with constructors going up and down. The noise was just so loud, impossible to have some time to recover after a long trip. Once we complained they offered us rooms on the first floor which were obviously worst. Absolutlely bad solution offered and even shameful hiding evidences. Guess their idea was just speculate and pretend that we would accept. After all they just gave a similar room. Sad to see (our) Swiss hospitality getting worst, not even a word of apology nor a good gesture.

Linda M, 03 Juillet 2017

Lovely hotel, staff very helpful, great location. The staff picked us up at the train station in the little electric cart (without us having to call them!) The room had a nice balcony. We had lovely weather so it was good to be able to open the balcony door. I would highly recommend this hotel.

"I loved this place!"
IKIGAItravels, 01 Juillet 2017

Stayed based on so many positive reviews and mention of the good value. I was not disappointed and in fact I loved this place! It is a 4 minute walk from the train station and moments up a side street from the main street of shops and restuarants. (Turn at the corner where the Sportina clothing store is located and the hotel is steps away. If heading up the street from the train station you make a right turn). We booked a very basic room and found ourselves on the 4th floor with a beautiful high vaulted ceiling with wood beams and a nice balcony with hillside views. The room was spotless and comfortable for our two day stay. The lift is small but quick! The breakfast offering is basic but sufficient and the dining area is charming. We met a nice young hostess when we passed through the evening complimentary tea and coffee and she encouraged us to take some biscotti cookies, which were delicious. The value was outstanding and I am so glad I chose to stay at this fine gem.

"Excellent attention to the pratical needs of guests"
Cobbe, 25 Juin 2017

Loved this clean, comfortable, practical hotel. There are no fancy gimmicks, just a lot of careful thought about what guests need for a comfortable stay. To take a couple of examples, unlike most hotels in continental Europe a kettle and tea and coffee making supplies are provided in the room, as is a retractable washing line over the bath. The whole attitude is one of helpfulness, rather than trying to extract as much cash as possible by charging for extras. All the staff I dealt with spoke English and were pleasant and helpful. I had asked for a balcony room and was glad I had, since the weather was generally good and it was pleasant sitting out on an evening. The room was a good size. The location is within easy walking distance to the stations for both the railway down to Visp and the railway up the Gornergrat but, although just off the main street, the hotel itself was quiet. Breakfast was an excellent hot and cold buffet - it is hard to think of anything that wasn't provided. Warm options were generally scrambled eggs and bacon with a couple of changing extra choices - generally a pancake or waffle and baked beans or similar. Cold options were a wide range of cold meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, fruit salad, yoghurts, cakes and so on. There were a couple of nice touches - many of the options were labelled, very helpful if you don't know one cheese or cold meat from another, and tongs were provided for helping yourself to the bacon instead of the more common, and trickier, option of a spoon and fork. Generally I ate out in the evening, but eating in the hotel offers a cheaper option than many of the restaurants in town. When I was there in the off-season only a fixed menu was on offer, but at busier times they offer a wider choice. I paid CHF 78 for a three course meal for two people, with one glass of wine and one soft drink. I would definitely stay there again and would happily recommend it to my friends. The free wi-fi was perhaps a bit slow in my room and some people might be unhappy about not having a fridge in the room (I just put things out on the balcony overnight). My room wasn't air conditioned, but I'm not a fan of hotel air conditioning anyway as it is usually too noisy to sleep. My room was at one side of the floor and ceiling reduced in height in the shower area, but I'm not tall enough for this to be a problem. In my view these are all minor disadvantages, far outweighed by the benefits. I look forward to going back there.

"Very good hotel"
WTT1966, 24 Juin 2017

We had a very good sized room, and enjoyed sitting out on our balcony. The hotel was generally quiet, staff very helpful and excellent choice and quality at breakfast. Good location - close to the station and most of Zermatt.

"Good"
Jimmy S, 22 Juin 2017

Easy to find, really close from the railway station. Friendly staff and room is big enough and good view. And easy to go to supermarket. Little bit cold but that's fine. Maybe it is old building but clean and not noisy.

"Lovely stay"
User, 20 Juin 2017

Nice quaint hotel near the station. Location was very good and convenient for touring the town and nearby locations. Was picked up by an electric van from the station. Rooms was spacious and had a balcony. Could see ice topped mountain though not Matterhorn. Breakfast was good , continental with scrambled eggs etc. On the whole would rate it excellent value for the rates they charge. Would definitely recommend.

"Comfortable and friendly"
Heather B, 11 Juin 2017

We spent two nights at the Best Western Hotel Butterfly. Comfortable good sized rooms and great breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. The complimentary afternoon tea was very welcome after a day of walking - and tasty!

"Handy location"
NeilNelson, 11 Juin 2017

2-3 minutes walk from the station and the railway to Gornergrat, this is ideally situated. Good breakfast and evening meal, comfortable room with a balcony with views to the mountains. Handy for all the shops which are all within comfortable walking distance

"We stayed an extra night."
2fromsa, 10 Juin 2017

We enjoyed the Butterfly and Zermatt so much we stayed an extra night. The food was great at breakfast and at dinner. The front desk went to the trouble of tracking down our Best Western Rewards number for us so we'd get our points. The shuttle driver was helpful. No complaints at all!

"Close to Everything"
Bruce C, 04 Juin 2017

A short walk from the train station. Beautiful inside and out. Room was excellent. Very nice staff. Delicious and filling breakfast. Great value for the money. Also, around the corner from McDonald's with Swiss inspired menu. Easy to get to ski slopes.

"Beauty at its beast. Peaceful and Great location."
srnjeet, 28 Mai 2017

We loved the hotel room. Wooden finish inside and compact but very well managed. Had balcony too. No complains regarding the room facilities. Station is max 10 mnts walkable. All shops, restaurants and grocery shops within walkable reach. We like to walk a lot and we almost covered 70% of this village by walk. The village is so well maintained and very clean. The houses are like dream house. Must go to either Gornegrat or Matterhorn glacier paradise. We didn't do ski but Zermatt is truly paradise for Ski lovers. We would love to visit again.

"Beautiful hotel, beyond expectations"
Jill B, 25 Mai 2017

We only had one night in this lovely place before boarding the Glacier Express. So sorry we did not stay for a few more nights as we loved the hotel, and Zermatt itself. The Butterfly Hotel is exceptionally good, loved everything about it - the beautiful room with it's luxurious bed, superb breakfast, excellent staff and value for money.

"More than I expected"
Jan M, 23 Mai 2017

We had a two bedroom suite, so much room!! Large bathroom, balcony that was the length of the suite, great view of town and surrounding mountains, quiet at night, within steps of the train station, as we were travelling the Glacial Express the next morning. Everything was spotless and I would stay there again without hesitation. Staff was pleasant, dining room looked great, but we did not eat there, so can't comment.

"Fantastic Holiday for a family of mixed ability skiers"
suefaye, 22 Mai 2017

As my 50th birthday present I chose skiing in Switzerland and wasnt dissapointed. We arrived at Geneva airport and were told it was a 3 hour transfer to Zermatt. It went really quick and the scenery is amazing on the way. We arrived in Zermatt and jumped onto a train into the town as Zermatt is a car free zone. The village sadly had no snow on the ground as it has been a warm winter but we could see the snow on the mountains and were assured it was really thick up there. We walked around the corner to the Hotel Butterfly , its very pretty and your given such a lovely warm welcome. We had 2 rooms one large family room and 1 double both with mountaiin views. spacious, lovely large balcony spotlessly clean and perfect for our needs. The staff are lovely and so friendly they go above and beyond for you. The inclusive retaurants 5 course evening meal is outstanding and the staff are wonderful, The manager Frank is exceptional he comes around every evening making sure all is ok and is always on hand to answer any questions you may have and is very informative , In the hotel there is a spa room which is wonderful after a day skiing make sure you ask about it. This hotel is somewhere i would gladly return to again and again. Skiing.... Ski passes can be bought via your rep when you buy your ski hire if needed or in the village as all prices are the same. Buses are all free from outside the ski lift stations to get you to where you want to be. Please note if you have children make sure you ask for a safety hat as they are free, for adults they charge and its cheaper to buy one at home before you go. we were a mixed bunch of 1st timers to novice to experienced and the slopes cater for everyone . Wolli nursery slopes in sunnegga are perfect for beginners and get you going you can then move onto the next slope when you feel ready which is wide , open and safe so give it a go its great. . Our son was on the black slopes and said the skiing was fantastic. you get trains a shuttle or a gondela depending on how high you want to go. Gornergrat is the top and you can toboggan down as well as ski. Once you get your bearings its easy. We used all the gondelas, trains and walks, to do all the things Zermatt has to offer. The Matterhorn journey is unbelievable you travel up to the top and the views are just breathtaking everyone has to experience this adventure. We decided to go and see the igloos , we got off at the top and were shown the igloos and were we had to walk, it is all downhill and very very steep and slippy so no good for older people. we slid down on our bottoms which was quite funny but not so funny when we were told we had to retrace our steps and walk back up this hill. It was very very hard work. You can ski down to the igloos and then continue down the mountain but you need to be a good skier. The trains stop at all ski start off points and have cafes and restaurants so you can ski or sit and watch the world go by. Everyone goes to the bars when they have finished skiing so in the evenings the bars are quiet and most people choose to relax in the hotels or walk around the shops. The weather in April was beautiful so sitting having a drink or lunch is wonderful. Zermatt town is lovely the shops the bars and the lovely quaint restaurants. But it is extremely expensive so you will need a lot of money. It was a fantastic place from start to end and a place we would love to return to and the Hotel Butterfly would be our 1st choice everytime.

"Lovely homely hotel"
GCoulter, 14 Mai 2017

We stayed here for a couple of nights after travelling on the Glacier Express. It is literally just around the corner from the train station. They do offer you a shuttle service to and from the station, however it was so close we walked. The reception staff are great, very friendly and welcoming, as were any of the the staff we encountered. There was an excellent range of hot and cold food available for breakfast, and our room was spacious and had a very homely feel to it as did the hotel in general, it certainly didn't feel part of a hotel chain. Our bedroom had a balcony with a great view out over the mountains, and a little sofa, armchair and table in the room. If we are back in Zermatt again I wouldn't hesitate to book it again.

"Lovely Hotel"
Tracie Grace R, 10 Mai 2017

Very nice hotel located just a few minutes away from the train station. Atmosphere is cozy with tasteful decor that feels more like staying at a friend's house than a Best Western. Very friendly staff that helped recommend appropriate hiking trails based on our equipment and time (the views of the Alps were spectacular!!). One night we really wanted a burger and they were able recommend a good sports bar down the street. Our rooms were warm and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! Standard continental with fresh bread, rolls, crescents, jams and this delicious chocolate spread called Ovomaltine (made in Switzerland) that has malted pieces and cocoa. A must try! We would definitely stay here again.

"Great!"
redshoe13, 06 Mai 2017

Really nice , breakfast and dinner included(coffee and water in the evenings at a charge, and of course all alcohol at a charge). Close to everything including the train, stores etc etc. Would love to go back there. And of course the train to The Matterhorn is right there. Do not miss the Matterhorn museum!! It was wonderful!

"Absolutely Lovely Hotel"
Lisa S, 05 Mai 2017

Good Value, placed write in the heart of town, lovely, caring staff. I went twice and was not disappointed, room was cosy. Food was good. The location of it can't be beat. I went skiing in Zermatt alone and I never felt lonely. The people who stay in this place are from all over the world.

"Nice Hotel"
NOMAD070, 20 Avril 2017

The hotel was quite nice. It did feel a bit dated but is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was decent. Not a huge spread but good enough. The front desk girl was very kind and helpful.Walking distance from the train station but they do offer complimentary pick up and drop off in case you have a bit of luggage.

"Convieniently located"
Peter P, 10 Avril 2017

The hotel is 5 mins walk from the train. It offers a reasonable standard of room with adequate facilities. After the rooms of London and Paris the rooms are almost large by comparison. Our room was about 24 sq.m which is more than adequate for 2 people. The buffet breakfast was filling with lots of choices.

"nice atmosphere"
Roger D, 28 Mars 2017

a very nice hotel with a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff, close to the railway station. the breakfast buffet was good, variety of cheese unfortunately very small, not even a local cheese specialty. tha bar keeper was friendly and humorous, yet the bar musician should definitely be switched, this guy just bored us. the wellness area is nice, although the sauna is quite outdated. on friday night they have a bbq-special with wood/charcoal grill. we didn't eat there but our clothes stank of the smoke just because we walked through the entrance of building c - it seems that the chimney is not working at all...

"Great location"
csmith2507, 28 Mars 2017

Great location right near the train station, one street behind the main street in Zermatt. Really easy to find and walking distance to everything. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was exactly what you need before a day out. The rooms are a bit dated but nothing wrong with that! We would definitely stay here again if we are in Zermatt.

"Our go-to in Zermatt"
Pinki15, 20 Mars 2017

Very reasonably priced hotel with comfortable, spacious rooms, an excellent breakfast buffet, exceptional staff and great location. We have stayed here 3 times over the past few years and every stay has been a pleasure. I would highly recommend the Butterfly if you are looking for a reasonable, comfortable and fuss-free stay in Zermatt.

"Beautiful!"
Daniel S, 17 Mars 2017

Really nice modestly sized hotel a short distance from the village train station. Friendly staff, and an atmosphere with authentic Swiss charm. Great ski-in ski-out hotel & prices aren't too bad if you book early, (compared to other hotels.)

"Excellent all-around hotel"
Christine M, 27 Novembre 2016

We stayed here for a long weekend in November. The hotel is in an excellent location, a 5 minute walk from the train station. It's reasonably priced for Zermatt and has a great included breakfast. The rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious and the bathrooms are really comfortable as they have a wood shelving unit for all your toiletries and clothes. The staff is very helpful and friendly. When my husband injured himself, they found him a doctor on a Sunday morning and made sure we knew how to get there. I would definitely plan on returning to this hotel.

""Cozy and Nice""
Shanilka H, 11 Novembre 2016

Hotel butterfly is situated 2mins away from the train station and is very convenient. It was cozy and well spaced. Room was very clean and had a nice view! It was snowing and was absolutely breathtaking to watch from our balcony. Breakfast options could improve. Overall satisfied! =)

"Great place to stay in Zermatt"
ShobhaDalvi, 06 Novembre 2016

We stayed at Hotel Butterfly for two nights recently. It is very close to the railway station and this helps because everyone has to come to Zermatt by train (no cars a d buses). They arrange free pick up and drop off from and to Zermatt train station in their electric carts. The staff are friendly and helpful and the entire hotel is bright and cheerful. They provide a sumptuous breakfast. The hotel is a!so close to Zermatt town so it is easy to walk to the bars and restaurants. Our room was spacious with an ante room and a balcony. The view of snow capped mountains was a bonus. Tea/coffee making facilities are provided in the room. Pets are welcome and guests have complimentary use of the steam room and sauna.

"Really very good"
George D, 02 Novembre 2016

We decided to stay at this hotel based on reviews alone. We really had no idea as to what the accommodation options in Zermatt were, so our choice was a bit of a risk. Fortunately, the reviews were accurate...we had no complaints. The rooms are a reasonable size, each with balconies and great views of the surrounding mountains. Rooms have comfortable beds and very nice bathrooms. Breakfast was very good with a range of hot and cold foods. We found the WiFi a little flakey, but it worked most of the time. Location is close to transport and the many restaurants in Zermatt. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We liked the Hotel Butterfly very much. In an expensive place like Zermatt it is a reasonably priced option which certainly delivers.

"Close to Train Station and Gonnergrat Railway Station"
odysseusChicago, 01 Novembre 2016

This is a very convenient hotel if you plan to take the cog wheel railway up to see the Matterhorn and other nearby peaks. The rooms are very nice sand each has a balcony. The breakfast is very ample and good. The front desk is staffed by friendly people.

"Great place to stay for your mountain experience"
RRV65, 01 Novembre 2016

This hotel had great rooms with balconies, and felt like you where a great mountain chalet. It is in from the main street which gives you less traffic and a quite spot. It is a short walk from the train station. The hotel has restaurant and a bar with a nice seating area. And the staff were excellent.

"Lovely hotel"
mafgea2011, 27 Octobre 2016

I stayed here with my husband for a couple of nights in mid October. The room was very comfortable with a little balcony to soak up the gorgeous views around. Breakfast was continental but with scrambled eggs and a lot of variety, loved it! I was so surpeised with dinner here, probably one of the nicest (and best value!) dinners we had through our stay in switzerland. The front desk was always very helpful and the location was so handy!

"Great location, good value"
sheilamran, 23 Octobre 2016

From geneva, we took train to zermatt. The hotel is located just beside the train station, 2-3 minutes walk. From the train station, turn right, then take the first right and follow the route. The staff was welcoming. We had our room as we requested, higher floor with balcony. The view from our room was mesmerising. We took a train to gornergrat, it is a place to go if you are not planning to go for ski or any other activity. It is worth every penny. We got evening discount 56chf instead of 90 chf. Breakfast is included, and it was good. I like the cheesy sausage. I will definitely stay here again next time. Good service and good price.

"Great hotel"
trevelord, 11 Octobre 2016

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It is in walking distance from the train station and we couldn't have been happier with the service and accommodations. It was the nicest room on our entire trip. The bar area was welcoming and we chatted with the server while enjoying drinks before retiring. The breakfast was wonderful and had a huge selection of items and the dining area was spacious and comfortable. The flowers on the balconies were amazing and we wished we were going to stay here longer to enjoy sitting on our own balcony and enjoying the views.

"Overnight stay for the Gornegratbahn"
S0uC, 06 Octobre 2016

Quirky hotel from the outside but room has been modernised. Clean and comfortable room. 5 mins walk from Zermatt station. Gonergratbahn is opposite the Zermatt station. So a convenient location to go up Gronegrat to view the beautiful Matterhorn. Disappointed as there was no fridge in the room, therefore giving it 3 stars. Helpful reception and good spread for breakfast. Zermatt is a clean and beautiful town. Air is clean as cars are banned except for ceritified electric cars.

"Spacious room, but lighting could improve"
iMakoto, 05 Octobre 2016

It is a very attractive hotel close to the town's main street and railroad station. The room was well arranged and spacious, but lighting was rather dim. We would have liked a light for the desk area, especially. This is a "Best Western Plus" motel/hotel, but much better than those we stayed in the same category in the U.S.

"Convenient and comfortable hotel in Zermatt"
William E, 05 Octobre 2016

We had one of two rooms on the top floor, which gave us a view of the surrounding mountains and a peek at the Matterhorn, which was almost behind a closer mountain. The management were helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was excellent. And the location is most convenient to both the train station and town.

"The Butterfly has it all."
Larry V, 03 Octobre 2016

A block from the train station and the cog-rail to Gornergrat, and close to everything else, the location is perfect. It is a short walk to the gondola up to Klein Matterhorn. We enjoyed the large, comfortable bedroom and bathroom that were among the best of our Swiss trip. A great breakfast and a very good restaurant, with service to match. I hope that we get back to Zermatt before too long, and if we do we will surely stay at the Butterfly.

"High point of my Swiss vacation"
rickinaus, 03 Octobre 2016

I recently returned from a visit to several Swiss towns and villages, and on reflection, my stay in Zermatt at the Hotel Butterfly was the high point of my trip. When I arrived at the train station, the hotel's little electric cart was there to greet me and take me the short distance to the hotel. You can see from the picture I have posted the welcoming appearance of the hotel's main entrance. I noticed that all of the hotel's staff were friendly and helpful and always greeted me with a smile. I enjoyed the excellent breakfast buffet each morning. The lady who brought me coffee was always smiling. This hotel was a very good value, less than five minutes from the main square and train station. I look forward to returning one day. Thank you Hotel Butterfly.

"Super Pace To Stay"
CypressRidge, 01 Octobre 2016

Well-run operation with helpful, accommodating staff. Rooms larger than most on our trip through Switzerland. Very good breakfast, but if you get down there when they open, you may have to wait for the eggs! Great location a couple of blocks from the train station and situated away from the tourist street bustle. Very enjoyable.

"Charming Swiss chalet style hotel"
earlyretirement9, 30 Septembre 2016

The hotel is in a good position a few minutes walk from the train station (only way into Zermatt, no cars) and the main street with all the shops, bars and restaurants. We were given a suit on the 5th floor with large balcony and mountain views which was lovely. Hotel breakfast, staff and facilities were all excellent. Recommended.

""The perfect hotel location""
001dwb62, 23 Septembre 2016

My wife and I arrived August 31st in Zermatt to a very charming hotel setting that is The Hotell Butterfly. Only a block from the train station, on a quiet back street off the main streets through town. I can't express enough how friendly the whole hotel staff was upon arrival and throughout our stay. The rooms are charming, clean and quite. The breakfast was outstanding, the dinner even better! Onsite laundry facilities for those who need to refresh their clothing. Wi-fi service. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Zermatt. Thank you Hotel Butterfly staff for making our stay one that we will never forget, and are planning in the future to stay with you again!

"Clean, flexible and friendly"
Valerie M, 22 Septembre 2016

We were in Zermatt to climb the Matterhorn and our itinerary changed due to a wonderful opening in the weather. We had to suddenly change our reservation at The Hotel Butterfly. They were very willing to help us with our new itinerary and held our large travel bags for us the whole time we were away to climb the most famous mountain in the world. The rooms are spacious and well priced. The breakfast was the best we found on our whole trip and the menu is extensive. Very friendly staff. We will definitely stay here again!

"Hotel Butterfly Zermatt"
john-grandad, 21 Septembre 2016

Excellent 4 star hotel, rooms comfortable and spacious, food very good A La Carte menu is good and quite reasonable for a Zermatt hotel, close to Gornergrat Railway and Station [Matterhorn opposite Gornergrat peak[ and also Zermatt is an all electric taxis and horse and trap city, no cars, plenty of shops although it is busy.

"Sweet hotel"
Shubha R, 11 Septembre 2016

We stayed at this hotel for one day. The hotel is very comfortable with good interiors. Helpful staff, sumptuous breakfast and very convenient location. It is a good hotel for families and children. We highly recommend this hotel.

"Quaint Hotel"
richardpines, 07 Septembre 2016

Cute hotel; very comfortable, spacious rooms, centrally located. Evening group meal was just okay. Group breakfasts were satisfactory. Excellent service. Bartender had great stories and you could spend the evening listening to him talk while sipping one or two beers.

"Clean and Spacious Room"
Rajesh P, 31 Août 2016

Last minute holiday to Zermatt. The hotel is at walking distance from the station and is very clean and spacious. The provision to leave our bags at the hotel and then roam around Zermatt was an added advantage. The breakfast was also good and we really enjoyed our time in Zermatt with Butterfly hotel.

"charming, convenient"
Pete J, 30 Août 2016

This was a charming hotel with location convenient to train and shopping. I'd stay here if visiting Zermatt again. Room was very quiet. Check-in was quite good. Allowed us to stow our bags prior to check-in so we could ride the Gornergratbahn without our luggage. Woke up with the sound of the local church bells. Good start to a Swiss holiday.

"Fantastic holiday, exceptional staff!"
Claire A, 26 Août 2016

Back from a fantastic week at the Butterfly (affectionally known by us as the 'Flitterhof'!) All the staff were exceptionally helpful, accommodating and friendly but special mention must go to Franco and both Rafael's who looked after us so well. We loved the location - close to lifts and town, but quiet. Rooms big and staff were quick to help us with any requests. I celebrated my birthday during our stay and they really went the extra mile. We had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

"Brilliant Butterfly, Brilliant!"
JDLOA, 23 Août 2016

What a treat! An easy three minute walk from the station, the hotel greets visitors with basket after basket of flowers trailing over balconies. Stunning. Stunning. Stunning. The staff were exceptional. The rooms are especially generous in size with modern quality fittings in the bathroom and wooden fixtures in the entrance and room in true Swiss style. The private balcony with comfortable outdoor seating and a view over the mountains was an added bonus. All up magnificent. It was difficult to leave.

"excellent location & big room size"
VIKASJAIN5975, 22 Août 2016

I have visited the Zermatt in May 2016. i stayed in this hotel only for one night, but my experience was excellent about this hotel. Rooms are very big and having big balcony. My room is also having mountain view which was excellent. I used Sauna bath of the hotel which is open for all guests in evening. breakfast was excellent, although a small choice for vegetarians.

"A perfect location near the train station"
Marilyn H, 17 Août 2016

We have just returned from a lovely weekend in Zermatt for a wedding! This hotel was only a 3 minute stroll from the train station. It was very welcoming, and the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. It has a cozy bar area, good dining area with a cold or hot options for breakfast. Our room was on the back , with a balcony and large wardrobe area, a safe, and coffee/tea facility.. The shower was excellent. I certainly would stay here again.

"Average place"
Jonsy77, 14 Août 2016

Zermatt is a small village and this hotel can be termed as a good one in that location. The food was good. We faced major issues with the room A/Cs. The rooms gets a lot stuffy and then you end up opening the balcony door to let some air in(mind you, its freezing cold). Another strange thing i found is there is no house keeping in the night. Guess this goes for most of the places in Switzerland. The hotel picks you up from the train station.

"Excellent property"
Manan U, 07 Août 2016

Located barely at a distance of about 3-4 minutes from Zermatt train station, the hotel provided every facility required and was a dreamplace to stay.. Special mention of the staff - Nicholas (Receptionist) who was exceptional and very friendly and helped us a lot with reference to giving the room with the best view..!!!! A big thank you for that... The breakfast (Veg) was excellent... The room was very clean and had a balcony with excellent view!!!! Stayed for 2 nights... Highly and definitely recommended!!!!

"Wonderful staff, exceptional food."
ElaineMaryAinslie, 28 Juillet 2016

Our family have stayed at the Hotel Butterfly for many years. The staff have always been courteous and helpful. The restaurant serves great food and the staff are always greet you with a warm smile whether you arrive for breakfast or in the evening for dinner. Simply a great place to stay.

"Definitive 4* for 3* price"
Ole R, 28 Juillet 2016

The hotel is a gem and a bargain. Excellent location just a few mtrs from railway station and the Gornergrat bahn, but in a quiet side street. We had our own balcony and a very spacious room, nicely furnitured. Kind and nice service minded staff. The breakfast in a cosy restaurant with lots to choose between. This is a 3 star hotel - but better than many 4 stars. Will be back??????

"Wonderful hotel."
Hugh C, 26 Juillet 2016

This hotel is located just off the main street and very close to both rail stations. Spent 4 wonderful nights in this hotel in June 16. We were meet at the station and transported in this car free town the short distance in an electric vehicle. On booking in we were offered a suite of rooms for the same price. Room 505 was on the south side of the hotel, overlooking the town and mountains but without a view of the Matterhorn. This is a well run, nice friendly hotel with a restaurant offering good quality meals at a reasonable price. There is a licenced bar with very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

"Stunning Alpine Location"
aussie4854, 23 Juillet 2016

We enjoyed our two night stay at the Hotel Butterfly, in a large room that had a good sized bathroom. The room had a large balcony with a spectacular view of mountain scenery. The lift in the hotel was surprisingly fast and efficient, a rare treat. The hotel staff were very helpful, and the breakfast and dinner menu had many options. The hotel has free Wi-Fi in the room. This hotel is within walking distance of the train station, and central to the main shopping centre.

"Charming hotel "
lindsberg, 21 Juillet 2016

We loved our stay. It is a charming hotel. Not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Great breakfast buffet! Wifi was fast. Close to train station. I would be careful about using their laundry machine. It is in German, and no additional languages were given. No complaints about the stay, otherwise! I would stay here again in Zermatt!

"Nice Property"
RahulBhalla, 18 Juillet 2016

We were here for One Night only. The hotel is close to the railway station, main market. The hotel provides a free pick and drop service. The room sand hotel is decent enough. All hotels in Zermatt and decorated with flowers. The breakfast was nice with mnay options , free wifi. The best part of the hotel was a man named Nicolas at the front desk, he's a gem of a person helped us a lot as in what all thing s to do and what all things to visit. He made our stay in the hotel very comfortable. Thanks to him

"Perfect location for exploring Zermatt and surroundings"
ValeMagg, 16 Juillet 2016

We reserved the same day for a one night stay at the Best Western Hotel Butterfly. The double room was comfortable, though a bit old fashioned which did not bother us. Everything was perfectly clean and the hotel staff exeptionally friendly. My friend was not able to walk long distances thus the vicinity to the train station and the cable car station for the Gornergrat was perfect.

"Amazing Hotel - a Luxury gem at 3 stars with Amazing Service"
Mballerina, 16 Juillet 2016

We stayed here for a summer trip for two couples with half-board. The staff was amazing, everything from early checkin to meals was amazing. I asked for ice or a bucket since I had champagne for my anniversary, they went got a champagne bucket, filled it and gave me four flutes without me asking and with a smile! The meals were huge and luxurious, a bit heavy (which is not that great), but very well-done. The afternoon tea time is just magic, though fruits should be included with cakes. The bar prices are very reasonable, about 9 chf for a gin/tonic and your choice of gin (they have some high end stock in that bar). The staff is primarily italian but the waiters are really pro and so nice. The breakfast is just beyond amazing, and really includes everything with wonderful service. The rooms and bathrooms are great. Very clean, very roomy, have everything you could need and very cozy. The lunch bags at the end were really great and worth it. The location is fantastic, near the gare, and the grocery store and pharmacy. I would say that we are coming back in winter! For Zermatt this is a great price. One week with everything but lessons in winter (passes too) will run you 1450 chf about. That is compared to Club Med St. Mortiz at 1500 chf. Though Zermatt is way way nicer than St. Moritz.

"very friendly staff, good location"
LouenStephan, 14 Juillet 2016

Butterfly ies on 5 minutes wal from the Railway station. You dont need to climb in a street, you dont need to take a taxi. The time for a walk to the Gornergratbahn is even shorter, also the distance to the shopping streets. Rooms are big and good isolated. Staff is very friendly and speak different languages. Breakfast(buffet) is included. Everything is very clean. There is also a sauna. While Zermatt is auto-free, best is to go by train, by airplane and train. When you go by car, there is a big parkhouse in Täsh and a shuttletrain to Zermatt.

"Beautiful location and hotel"
Tarun J, 08 Juillet 2016

Just walking distance from train station. The room was spacious and with a great view. The restaurant was equally good. The bathroom was a bid odd with low roof but that compensated with the glass roof on it. we wish we had stayed longer.

"Very good experience of having fun together with the other guests"
Marianne K, 01 Juillet 2016

lovely atmosphere, the director understands it very well to make you feel like in a big family among guests and staff. You will find every year at the same time a lot of regulars again, which makes you feel like coming home. The "Butterfly Skiday" is one of the highlights.

"First rate hotel"
Bob A, 01 Juillet 2016

Very comfortable room lots of space for storage.Included evening meal 5 courses varied menu each evening and excellent quality.Friendly helpful staff.Located very close to the station and just off the main street.

"Exceeded our expectations"
maddensk, 30 Juin 2016

The hotel is located about 5minutes walk from the main station and the Gornegrat station and just off the main street. The room was spacious and although we had a limited view from the balcony it was nice to sit outside. The wifi was quite good and the room & bathroom were spotlessly clean, there was a good supply of hot water and an amazing amount of wardrobe space and a room safe. The breakfast was very good with a choice of both cooked and cold meats, cheese and fruit and cereal,in fact you were spoiled for choice. The evening meal was a fixed menu for our group but other guests had a choice of a la carte. The meals consisted of a starter, soup, salad, main course and a sweet and also with a vegetarian option, the food throughout our stay was of excellent quality and the service could not be faulted. The staff are very attentive and friendly and made our stay a memorable one, they were a credit to the hotel. We would certainly recommend staying here and the Best Western group are to be congratulated.

"Quality Hotel for a Nice Stay"
Marty B, 29 Juin 2016

Located in easy walking distance to the train station, Hotel Butterfly under the brand name of Best Western is a comfortable and friendly hotel. We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our stay immensely. A friendly staff member will greet you and quickly sign you in. You will find the weakness of this establishment with the small elevator. It can hold just a few people with their bags. The upside is that the elevator is fast. We requested a small refrigerator and received it in a few minutes. For European standards, the room was large enough. The bonus was the balcony. Even though our view was of other houses, it was nice nevertheless. We found the beds to be comfy with no back aches. There were no issues with sound, the Wi-Fi and the water pressure was just fine. The breakfasts at the Butterfly was one of the best we encountered in Switzerland. The sausages were extremely tasty and the scrambled eggs too. It was white table service with coffee being delivered. The only improvement I would make is that breakfast started at 6:30, but the hot eggs and sausages did not come out until 7:00AM. We recommend the Brown Cow for eating and walking the Zermatt trail to a 500 year old village called Zmutt. The trail is beautiful, and with our experience, the clouds around the Matterhorn lifted for a few minutes for an incredible view. "Convenient location"
Brian H, 28 Juin 2016

Only 2 minutes walk from the station or catch the little bus if you are encumbered with luggage. Located just off the main street of Zermatt so an easy walk to many of the attractions. Front desk staff were very friendly. Restaurant was nice with good breakfast. Plenty of waiting staff on hand. Room was good sized and well maintained.

"2 night stay in Zermatt"
Geoff B, 19 Juin 2016

The hotel was a bit difficult to find as it is tucked in behind two streets on the right hand side of the main 'road' as you walk away from the station. However a bit of trial by error and we found it. Only 5 minutes from the station, with lots of restaurants about it. The non smoking room was big enough for 2 persons and the bathroom clean and adequate. Our room gave us glimpses of the Matterhorn. Breakfast was very good with lots of items to select. We would stay there again.

"Charming hotel, excellent location!"
tdrf, 16 Juin 2016

Very friendly front desk staff. Room was very large and clean. Not terribly updated, but was adequate. Balcony view of the Matterhorn was spectacular. Quiet street below due to no vehicles permitted in the town. Complimentary breakfast was good. Wifi in my room was spotty at best. It was more frustrating to try to get it to work than the benefit it provided. Large and clean bathroom... and they had facecloths! This was my third hotel in Switzerland during a trip for work, and this was the only hotel which offered facecloths!

"Fantastic!!"
sinhasupriyo, 11 Juin 2016

Very nice hotel located at a 5min walk from the town centre. They organize for a station pickup by a battery operated cute little bus. The room was large with a big balcony and fantastic view! The hotel staff was very nice and cooperative. Breakfast spread was excellent. Absolutely worth a revisit and highly recommended.

"Very friendly staff"
Prasad M, 03 Juin 2016

My wife and I stayed at Best Western Butterfly and had amazing time. The location is apt as it is located at a 5 min walking distance from Zermatt station. The receptionist and the staff of the hotel are friendly and very helpful. The rooms were big and had a beautiful balcony overlooking mountains. Rooms had ipod dock for music which was surprising. Breakfast was pretty good and the high tea with cookies and pies made our day. Will definitely recommend to stay here.

"Spot on"
Marina258, 02 Juin 2016

Stayed for five nights skiing trip. We have visited Zermatt several times and this is by far one of the best locations on a budget. Great staff, lovely breakfast and clean spacious room. Added bonus of a sauna. Literally a minute from town and two mins from gornergrat and train station. Brilliant value for money. We will definitely return and would highly recommend.

"Perfect Hotel in the heart of Zermatt"
shankyt, 01 Juin 2016

This hotel is superbly located about 3 minute walk from the railway station, yet peaceful. Gornergrat railway is 2 minute walk and the Matterhorn Glacier station is about 10 minute walk. Excellent spacious room with balcony and comfortable beds. It provided free wifi and good buffet breakfast. It is just 100 mts from the main street, shopping centers and restaurants are nearby. Staff is courteous. Enjoyed our stay.

"cosy and comfort"
sgrech25, 21 Mai 2016

location is center, 5min walk from train station.room had a lovely wooden balcony . rooms were well equipped.bed was really comfortable. I would definitely stay in this hotel againthe staff were really helpful

"Totally was what we needed"
AlliGrace, 20 Mai 2016

This is a very good hotel to stay at. The reception staff was friendly and room was very clean and bed comfortable. Location to main part of town is awesome. The only reason why I didn't rate excellent was at breakfast the waiters and waitresses were not too friendly and helpful. They do let you leave your luggage there after checkout if you are not leaving town right away but it is not in locked room.

"Quaint and good location"
maevans70, 18 Mai 2016

Enjoyed our stay here as the hotel staff was very welcoming and helpful. Nice bar and dining area. Our room had a small deck with chairs facing the front of the hotel. Bath room even had a small stool plus also had wash clothes and a very deep bath tub. Room was large with two small love seats that made beds if needed. Very quiet area since there are no cars in Zermatt. Two tiny elevators are available, once you reach your floor, you must open the elevator door as it does not open once you arrive at your floor.

"One night stay."
Ki R, 18 Mai 2016

Clean and comfortable room - good size. Breakfast excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Location good and quiet - short distance from train station. Hotel shuttle to/from train station, if needed. Shops, restaurants, attractions very close. Good walk/hiking trails nearby. Beautiful walk/hike to Zmutt - can be challenging for some.

"Perfect location, lovely hotel."
Patricia W, 10 Mai 2016

Recently stayed for three nights at this lovely hotel. The hotel is perfectly situated a short walk from the stations, the old town & cable cars . The staff were very friendly & helpful, the bedroom was comfortable with large balcony with wonderful views & there was was an excellent choice of food at the buffet breakfasts . We had booked half board unfortunately the dining room was closed on the evening , but arrangements were in place for us to eat at a sister hotel a short walk away, transport was provided if required. Overall this was an exceptionally pleasant stay in a beautiful town.

"We wished our room temperature was as warm as their service"
CornCornz, 06 Mai 2016

The heater in the room must have been faulty. After the hotel staff had helped us crank it to the max setting, the room was still icy by night. Only the bathroom was decently warmed up. They had the old world charm with wooden wardrobe that comes with a cute metal key. We bought half-board for two nights to save trouble to going out at night for dinner. As the occupancy was low for our 1st night of stay, the hotel's restaurant was closed, the hotel sent us in their little car to a partnering hotel that is about 20min walk away for dinner. The return transfer was not covered so we had to walked in the rain and cold (-6 deg that night) since someone there stole the umbrella that Hotel Butterfly lent us for use on our way back. The 2nd night, Hotel Butterfly's restaurant was open. Alas the dinner menu was similar to the 1st night's menu at the partnering hotel. Beef Carpaccio, Roast Pork, and Ice Cream (Ice Cream or Tiramisu at the partnering hotel). It is still a decent traditional hotel to put up in for the service and price. Plus their breakfast buffet was lovely and the hotel is really within walking distance to the train station and the Gornergrat Banh. Probably a stroke of bad luck for us with the room heater and dinner arrangements then.

"Cosy and convenient hotel in Zermatt "
Aaron O, 06 Mai 2016

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and I really enjoyed my stay here! Here are some of the pros and cons: Pros: 1) very convenient location (3 mins walk from train station) 2) big rooms with nice wooden fittings (I had a big balcony as well on the first floor) 3) clean and well maintained 4) staff are friendly 5) free breakfast adequate n comes with hot food 6) good selection of channels (live champions league broadcast!) Cons: 1) heater not really working even after staff came to check 2) walls r not really sound proof (could hear noise from room around us) 3) no fridge provided 4) water heater not easy to control (sometimes too hot/ too cold) and shower head a bit spoiled Overall, I would still recommend my friends to stay at this place!

"Mind your belongings"
Erika Y, 02 Mai 2016

Had a short stay in this hotel during a trip in Switzerland and Zermatt is on the top of our fave destination. When we saw this hotel, we were happy. Clean room with balcony facing the alps. Large bed. Only a minute walk from the train station. Unfortunately, we lost a wedding ring in the next day. And it ruined all the first impression. My husband forgot the wedding ring when we took a walk around zermat. As we realized, we straight back to hotel and found the room already made up and the ring is gone. we reported to the reception but no help (reported twice to different staff) Should have a better control, especially with the cleaning service workers.

"Short but sweet!"
Janet H, 29 Avril 2016

Stayed at the Hotel Butterfly for two nights for a short visit to Zermatt. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast buffet was good with a nice selection including eggs, bacon, yogurt, breads and fruit. Choice of hot chocolate, tea or coffee. Orange juice available too. Room was nice size. Bed was 2 twins pushed together with separate twin bedding. Not very romantic!

"Zermatt Best Western"
Patricia B, 25 Avril 2016

We really appreciated the Zermatt Best Western. It was an easy walk from the train station - especially with bags. It has an excellent breakfast with a good selection of warm food as well as cereals and fruit. The staff are really nice. The facilities are clean and the beds comfortable. The view was quite good. As far as prices in Zermatt, we felt this hotel was reasonably priced.

"Nice hotel"
sabnara, 24 Avril 2016

We visited Zermatt in April for a day and we stayed at Best Western hotel Butterfly. This is a few minutes' walk from the train station, off the Bahnoffstrasse in a nice quiet location. From the balcony of our room, we had a view of the road approaching the hotel and a mountain peak. The room was warm. Breakfast was very good with lots of options. Definitely a very nice experience staying here.

"Reasonably Nice"
CJPMJP, 23 Avril 2016

When we arrived at 5pm after a long journey, we were notified by the junior ("trainee" badge) reception staff member that the hotel didn't have our booking! We had booked and paid for it four months beforehand, but the attitude was that there was nothing she could do and she said that the hotel was full! After pressing her that this wasn't our problem, she found a room for one night only of our two night stay, and said she couldn't help us with the second night!!!! We stood our ground and she muttered about trying to find a room for the second night and would let us know. Of course, she never did let us know and we had to check back. We found the hotel to be acceptable without being outstanding in any area. No issues with wifi nor the breakfast fare. To be fair, when we checked out the more senior lady staff member was very concerned over our check in issues and did her best to placate us. She was rather shocked by our experience, but I think it would have been better if she had been in the background to supervise the trainee when we arrived. Thankful also for the shuttle to the station; next time we will also take it from the station to the hotel as street signposts are lacking in Zermatt.

"The Best"
Stacey I, 23 Avril 2016

Location is great, very near the train station and about 10 minutes' walk to the cable car lift. The staff were great and the breakfast was magnificent, with a large range on offer and all freshly baked/prepared. We had a room with a balcony which privilege views of the mountains, well worth the little extra cost. Only thing that surprised us was that the "double" bed was in fact two singles pushed together with separate sheets and quilts, which made for a strange night sleeping as a couple. However on the upside you get a doona all to yourself! Would definitely stay here again! Real value for money, quiet location, clean, comfortable. 5 stars.

"Very good location , central yet not noisy .. rooms & WIFI require some improvement"
riri25, 07 Avril 2016

It is a very nice small hotel, very close to the mains street yet you don't hear all the noise. Close to the lift .The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is very good. The only drawback: - The heater in our room was not working - we felt sick in the morning - We told the mgt few times about the heater problem and they responded after 48 hrs by putting an electric heater in the room which wasn't enough (it was a big room and at the far corner of the hotel). -The amenities in the bathroom are very basic - the WIFI is extremely bad in the room, the staff told us because it is peak period... - We were not told that there is a sauna room/spa facilities to use, we learnt this after we left!

"Completely perfect!"
jlangt, 01 Avril 2016

We went here for the second time and it was better than ever. This is a hotel which pays attention to every detail. Breakfast was delicious every morning with a wide variety of choices. After a hard day's skiing there was a wonderful tea available with many different cakes, cookies and doughnuts. The evening meal was 5 courses and always alternatives. The wait staff checked every night to make sure we were happy with what was on offer. The room was spacious and the bath was enormous...always plenty of hot water. They also have a sauna and steam room. What a wonderful relaxing place to stay. And the staff are all welcoming and charming. Finally...it is 3 minutes walk from the train station.

"Amazing property"
suniljumala, 30 Mars 2016

We had some amazing time at this property last year. The place is ideally located and just perfect for holidayers. Almost everything that you want is closeby and te noise level at the hotel is down too which is what you seek at the end of a hectic day. The food and the staff is great too and what sets them apart is the amazing smile of the face. The vast breakfast menus sets the pace for the day. The room are clean and the facilities great.

"Good hotel in the center of Zermatt"
Alexander K, 30 Mars 2016

The location of the hotel is perfect - 3 min. walk from the train station. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Breakfast is adequate for a 3 star hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable (except for the pillows - way too soft for a good night sleep).

"The friendly staff sets it apart"
thebowl, 27 Mars 2016

If I rated it apart from the staff, I would probably give it four stars. Ideal location (near the action, but away from any noise); clean rooms (cooling ofof the room would be the only small demerit), a fine buffet breakfast, tea time, good set up for skiing. But it is the staff that earns it the fifth star. Every singly person was friendly and helpful. Special merit to the bartender Franco, who never lets a drink go empty.

"Five-star hospitality"
globetrotter0923, 13 Mars 2016

The friendliness and their helpfulness were simply top-class. They made sure that our toddler felt at ease at all times - at the reception, in the bar, and in the restaurant. The rooms are slightly outdated but it didn't matter. The restaurant serves good food and with exceptionally friendly service. Loved staying here so much that I wouldn't mind going back. The hotel is three minutes walking distance from the train station - another plus.

"Very friendly staff and great location"
Quaxie, 13 Mars 2016

We have stayed at the Butterfly hotel for the second time - our last stay was at Half Term Break in February 2016. The hotel is a great place to stay and the location is unbeatable given it's only a 3 minute stroll to the Gornergrad Bahn where the ski buses that take you to Sunegga and Matterhorn express also depart every 10 minutes. The rooms are a bit on the small side but it was absolutely fine for us and the room was very clean too. It's the cosy atmosphere (given the hotel is relatively small ) and the LOVELY and super friendly staff that makes all the difference. The hotel director personally greets all of the guests upon arrival and when we forgot our daughter's backpack when departing on the last day the team at the Butterfly were super helpful and mailed it to us in the UK (even free of charge). That's what I call a top guest service! We'll be back for sure.

"Wonderful"
54richard, 02 Février 2016

I have been coming to Zermatt for almost 40 years often more than once a year, and stayed at most of the hotels at some time or other. The most expensive hotels are of course wonderful but when you are looking for value for money, the Butterfly is the perfect place to stay. The staff are simply wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Franco the barman is particular is wonderful and makes everyone feel welcome. The other staff are also extremely professional and helpful. I am returning to Zermatt in March and I cancelled my reservation elsewhere to go back to the Butterfly. We sadly did not have a view of the Matterhorn, but given we saw it all day while skiing this was not a major hardship. Highly recommended.

"Fine but nothing special for the price"
Pinkpeonie, 01 Février 2016

I stayed here for 2 nights in December for a ski weekend. There is nothing really wrong with this hotel, actually its quite nice but thought that it was very expensive considering the rooms were quite average. Room was clean and bed comfy. Big bathroom as well. Breakfast was nice but not substantial. They were offering a late breakfast for the weekend which ran until 11am. So we decided to take advantage of it and had breakfast at 9.30am, but they had run out of bircher muesli and a few other things. I wasn't so impressed. Why have a late breakfast time and then not have food. It is not close to the ski lifts but then again not many hotels are. Last time i was in Zermatt (In Summer) at a different hotel and this was also not located near the lift. Zermatt is small though so it would be anywhere between 5-15min walk to the lift. The hotel is about 5 min walk to the centre of town where there are shops and restaurants in the evening. Not a bad hotel, but i would probably stay somewhere else next time.

"Skiing in Comfort"
Jonvom, 29 Janvier 2016

Comfortable, clean, great food and location. Frank, the owner, and all the staff can't be beaten. Had an excellent time and made new friends. Will certainly be back. The skiing in Zermatt is fantastic, albeit a little expensive as expected for the area.

"Can't say enough good things!"
SierraMtnsGuy, 19 Janvier 2016

We loved this hotel. The room was spacious, well located on a quiet street but very close to train station and restaurants the breakfast was the best we had anywhere during our trip. The view from the balcony was nice and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great wifi coverage. And the price was very reasonable. When we go back this is where we will stay!

"Five star service"
NDH53, 19 Janvier 2016

Frank & his team at the Butterfly offer five start service at three star prices. We'd thought Zermatt would be too expensive for us. But not at the Butterfly. We booked direct on their January deal. This included an all area (including Italy) ski pass, a brilliant day skiing with Frank & his team, including mid morning hot drink stop & a delicious lunch. A visit to the excellent museum in Zermatt & most important a huge & well appointed bedroom with lovely balcony. All served by the charming restaurant staff with the delicious breakfast, afternoon tea & cakes followed by a beautifully prepared and well balanced five course dinner each evening. Consequently we didn't need to spend large amounts on big expensive lunches while skiing. In fact we didn't need lunch at all but came back to the cosy fire & warm welcome at the hotel. Frank filmed our days skiing & now we have a great video to show our family & friends. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were so attentive & anticipated our every need. This really is a lovely family hotel professionally run with brilliant attention to ensuring all their guests have a lovely holiday.

"Friendly helpful staff"
Elizabeth & Dau... B, 19 Janvier 2016

Our 2 twin bed room was clean and sufficient for my daughter and me. We arrived and checked in at 4:30 pm. The room below us housed several college aged boys who at this time we're having a party. We asked to be moved , just in case the party raged all night. Betty, the front desk clerk, could not have been more apologetic and helpful. She moved us to a room that was just as pleasant. She also put an end to the party. The boys actually sent us chocolates- which in Switzerland are always good- and an apology note. Our only complaint is that in the middle of 2 out of our 3 nights we could hear a constant knocking and shuffling sound from somewhere near us. We think that it was the heating system, but never discovered what it was for sure. This may have only been audible from our room, but that is why the hotel received 4 stars instead of 5. Breakfast was free and it was a nice full buffet. As I said earlier , the staff was fabulous. I would return. The bar is quaint and friendly. Great location , off the Main Street , but very accessible to everything.

"Amazing hotel, even better location"
Kloebert, 16 Janvier 2016

Breakfast was to die for and the staff were super friendly! They treated our children like kings! Rooms were clean and comfortable, we had room 303 on the corner - couldn't have asked for anything more!

"Perfect"
KJH999, 16 Janvier 2016

Stayed for 5 days with some friends. Hotel is superbly located a short walk from the main train station and the train up the mountain to Gornergrat. Exceptionally friendly staff and fantastic service. Very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting the days skiing with limited lifts open. Particularly enjoyed Franco's (Italian barman) company in the bar. Clean rooms. Hot and cold breakfast buffet was perfect before a hard days skiing.

"Whole family loved Hotel Butterfly"
ehslenox, 14 Janvier 2016

Hotel Butterfly is located a few blocks from the train station and is convenient to everything Zermatt has to offer. The rooms were clean and comfortable (though, don't look for a Matterhorn view as only a few are available - but who cares, it's dark when we were in our rooms). The staff is friendly and hospitable and were enthusiastic about making our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was excellent and dinner was delicious and creative. The dining room staff were very helpful and friendly with our 8 children and the bartender of the lounge was wonderful with his stories and interaction with the kids when they were playing cards. I needed a doctor and they got an appointment for me (on the day before Christmas). Loved Hotel Butterfly and hope to get back again.

We always look at many small details but here we have made a selection for you guys: - You are all very pleasant people what is almost a kind of special nowadays. - The mix of Swiss/Italian/German nationality under one roof gives an additional value. - Nice wine glasses for nice wine to be served and always complimentary ice water. - To welcome the little ones everyday is something that helps to re-book again. They experience it as special. - The overview of the hotel itself with all well trained staff and cosy decoration brings you back in a very nice family mood. - The special Christmas decoration in the dining (Santa chocolates on the table) area and around the lobby is wonderful. - The music, Sonos system, with all amazing playlist is leading! Good music doesn't have an expiration date. - The Christmas playlist, the 80-ties playlist, the Italian playlist they are all so nice. Who made these lists? - The skiroom with heated air system for boots is definitely a special amenity. - The overall update information of Zermatt on touch flat screens is great. - The Ice Machine maker and snack supplier in the hall is an American (maybe Best Western) style that we use / love. - The rooms are comfortable, clean, well maintained and cosy with a nice balcony view. - The bar is an excellent meeting place for the evening, free peanuts and walnuts with always a warm service. - The lobby desk with never ending supply of candies. - The outside decoration is attracting as well in the night, nice to see it at the beginning of the street. It attracts! - Location is unbreakable for us. Near to the stations and meeting place of the ski-school.

"A very good stay in Zermatt"
HeatherMc29, 03 Janvier 2016

We arrived at a busy time in Zermatt i.e. Boxing Day and stayed to the following Saturday (2nd Jan). The hotel was warm, welcoming and very friendly. I was very impressed with the staff, they were helpful and all spoke English and other languages quite fluently. The food was excellent, we were staying half board. The hotel really went all out on New Year's Eve. There was a great party atmosphere with pre-dinner drinks, a super 6 course dinner and a magician. They then took us on a short walk to a hotel roof top to watch the fireworks, which were impressive, whilst enjoying music and drinks. I stayed with my 2 sons who had a very good time skiing whilst I relaxed, walked and enjoyed shopping in Zermatt. There were quite a few quests who seemed to return to the hotel year after year...which says it all.

"Butterfly in the city of the Matterhorn"
3valdo, 30 Décembre 2015

The hotel has good structure and it is beside of the train station (bahnhof). In spite of accessing quietly the hotel by walking, when I arrived by train there was a car (electric, as all the others vehicles in Zermatt) waiting at the train station. On my departure, the service was offered (no fees additional). The rooms are very spacious, the beds are comfortable, the staff is very friendly and the breakfast has many varieties. As Zermatt is very small, you can easily reach any place of the city by walking.

"Great Christmas Hotel...."
NikkiJ, 26 Décembre 2015

We spent just 4 nights over Christmas at this hotel. It's a wonderful small hotel in a perfect location, just a few minutes walk from the station and close to all the shops and bars and the train upto the slopes. We stayed in a classic double, good size room with a balcony. TV has UK channels I.e. BBC and ITV. Breakfast has a good choice and their set everything meal is excellent value compared to eating out. I loved the cosiness of the hotel. The staff were a credit to the hotel as well. Definitely will return. P.S. We also did clay pigeon shooting, this was definitely a good activity if you fancy a bit of time off from skiing. Hotel reception can help with that.

"Excellent standard"
Stephen S, 26 Décembre 2015

Great quiet position, in centre of town , close to shops, ski lifts and train station. Excellent spacious rooms with balconies. Beautiful view from the room. Very good quality breakfasts. Courteous and pleasant staff. The best in spa and sauna facilities. Bad wifi connection. Ask for a room facing south as no sun in rooms facing north.

"Breathe easy."
showbizandi, 21 Décembre 2015

I've never stayed in a Best Western before...you watch American movies and think that a Best Western is more 'motel than hotel'. Well in Zermatt it's not. This is a really nice hotel which is well run with a family feel. The staff are all friendly and welcome you into the hotel as if it were their home. Most of the rooms have a small balcony and unlike a lot of continental Europe a double bed is actually one bed and not two singles pushed together. The location is only minutes from the train station (no need to get a taxi, even with luggage, it's a three minute walk). Zermatt is a diesel/petrol free town, so all the cars are electric. It really does feel like you're breathing in unpolluted air...and the hotel was indeed a breath of fresh air.

"Pleasant experience"
WonderAweThrill, 17 Novembre 2015

The check in process was smooth, advise at the reception desk was very good including giving inputs on what can be done during the off season. Channel 1 shows cameras on top of gornergrat and other vantage points that you would want to visit. Breakfast can be better than what was laid out - probably it is due to the off season. The room was well equipped. Balcony didnt offer much of a view really since it just overlooked the neighboring hotels/buildings.

"NICE HOTEL......... go for it"
gotibaba, 16 Novembre 2015

stayed in this hotel 10th thru 14th November 2015. the location is excellent around 100 to 150 meters from the staion , main street and supermarkets like coop kiosk Mueller etc. if you have heavy baggage you can call them for a pick up or drop to the staion in an electric car. the staff is professional and polite and patiently answers questions. mr frank the manager is a fair man. the breakfast is far above average though not lavish,in fact it is pretty good with eggs , bacon, baked beans, fruits, cereals, juices , breads etc. the common areas of the hotel are very tastefully done up,i simply loved them (lot of old world charm) the rroms have everything u can ask for, minibar.coffee maker, airconditioning, safe etc. I was staying in a room with a balcony on the 2nd floor which had a lovely view of the mountains plus the road (not the matterhorn side) the wifi was perfect too was a bit apprehensive after reading earlier reviews but it worked fine. only one slight thing I didn't like was that I was given a room on the 2nd floor when I asked requested for the highest possible floor at the time of booking,im sure they could have given it to me if they wanted. but I still liked my room anyways, I realised that I had paid for a suite while booking but given a deluxe room due to oversight maybe , I brought it to the notice of mr frank who compensated me very fairly. will definetly stay here again but will call frank first and make sure he gives me a higher floor this time

"Excellent Choice"
24vacation, 13 Novembre 2015

The location, not far from the train station, makes this an excellent choice when hauling luggage. We only had backpacks but still appreciated the proximity. Within a short walking distance of the shops and the Gornergrat station, this hotel was ideal for us. We were only staying for one night and wanted to make the most of our time here. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious and even had a handy drying line in the tub. The breakfast the next morning was quite plentiful with many offerings and a dining area large enough to accommodate everyone. A real treat for us was to get up the next morning and be able to see the summit of the Matterhorn from our balcony. A perfect start to the day!

"Autumn in Zermatt"
hanval, 07 Novembre 2015

Spent one night here with visitors from England. My e-Mail to the hotel requesting 2 rooms on the same floor was answered immediately and we were indeed assigned rooms next to each other on the 2nd floor. They were spacious with a large balcony and bathroom with a tub. The alpine style furniture is battered in places and looks a little tired but doesn't detract from the room. A comfy bed and lots of storage space. In the afternoon free tea/coffee and cakes were offered, we seemed to be the only ones taking advantage of this which was a shame as the cakes were delicious and Franco so attentive to us in the lounge. Breakfast started early at 7am and the buffet was good & the breakfast room very pleasant. The reception staff were friendly, even lending us an adapter free of charge and the excellent location of the hotel just off the main street and close to the station means we would happily return.

"Comfortable base for Zermatt"
jdunns, 31 Octobre 2015

Clean, attractive hotel just a couple minutes from the train station. They have a friendly staff that speaks English well. The breakfast included with the room is good. They have very solid WiFi. They are willing to keep luggage during the day before checkin or after checkout. This hotel makes a great, affordable base for exploring the Zermatt area.

"We had a great time using Hotel Butterfly as a base for hiking towards the Matterhorn."
John B, 31 Octobre 2015

Great location (near the train station, but not too near), very friendly and helpful staff, room was very nice (we were upgraded in the quieter Fall season). Breakfast was excellent and there is a tea time from 4-5 pm with tea and coffee available plus the region's very good apricot cake. We would stay here again if visiting again.

"centrally located and best value"
Amnon O, 30 Octobre 2015

can't beat the location. 3 minutes from station - 1 minute to main street. very kind staff. we got upgrade to deluxe rooms - that has extra space for a sofa, chairs and big balcony. very nice bar and lobby (we didn't use), 3 minutes from coop supermarket - buying staff to the room.... standard rooms are also fine, don't hesitate to book. mattress a bit soft - we like the hard type - but it was ok.

"Comfort zone under Matterhorn"
vishwanathkarve, 23 Octobre 2015

Stayed in room 502 during our visit. Clean and comfortable room with all amenities required for a short stay provided for. The room was big ( compared to other room sizes we encountered in Europe ) and had a small balcony too. The heaters were functioning well and the staff was very friendly and efficient. Breakfast buffet had variety and small menu changes that were a welcome. Positive - 1. Competitive Rates. 2. Near to the train stations and 1.2 Km away from the cable car station. 3. Hot pot with ample supply of coffee and tea ( make it yourself ) in the room. 4. Friendly and courteous staff who replied patiently to all our queries and always greeted us when passing by. 5. Clean and comfortable room. 6. Excellent ambience, as the hotel is a little off the street, no noise. 7. Pleanty of restaurants nearby. 8. Good location basically. Negative - 1. Un-reliable and very slow WiFi connectivity in the room. Thats the only thing that we think should improve, otherwise we were very happy with our pleasant stay there.

"Charming hotel and what a view!"
Jeanne M, 15 Octobre 2015

What a charming hotel! The staff speak fine English, which was helpful and were so kind and knowledgeable . Our room was spacious and quite clean. Stepping onto our little balcony, which was furnished with 2 chairs, we could see the Matterhorn. Pretty hard to beat! We had ample outlets for recharging our phones, iPad, and e-readers. The included breakfast was very good. The location was great...a very short and easy walk from the train station.

"Excellent service"
Paradox111, 10 Octobre 2015

My wife and I booked into Hotel Butterfly for 1 night in October 2014 ..... I know ... it was a while ago .... but Trip Advisor just nagged me to add a review, and up until now I have just been too busy. I feel responsible for providing 'give-back', because Trip Advisor was a fantastic help planning our 100 day tour of Europe - we did not have one dud hotel. We did not actually stay Hotel Butterfly, because when we arrived there was a maintenance problem, so they transported us to their superior sister Best Western around the corner, and gave us a superior (very nice, large) room with a view of the Matterhorn at no extra charge. While we cannot comment on the facilities of the Hotel Butterfly itself, we can say that they will look after you very well if there are any issues.

"Good Value, Great Comfort"
Lun2Travel, 10 Octobre 2015

We had a very comfortable two night stay at The Butterfly. The rooms are larger than many we've experienced in Switzerland, and there are English language channels on the TV for those times you are not out scaling the nearly Matterhorn. The breakfast is typically Swiss. We had been advised to ring the hotel to be picked up in their electric car. We did that and were embarrassed to find the hotel is barely 50 metres from the railway station! The room was quiet, comfortable and all the staff we met were efficient, professional and friendly. My only issue would be that the wifi is intermittent and very frustrating - I found I was up at 5.00am to do some necessary banking as it was unreliable at other times.

"Nice, old hotel"
adlr99, 08 Octobre 2015

The Butterfly is less than a 5 minute walk from the train station. They sent an electric van to bring our luggage. The lobby area is small, but comfortable. The staff was pleasant and welcoming and helpful in suggesting restaurants nearby for dinner. My room was large and had a balcony, but it was supposed to be non-smoking and it smelled of cigarette smoke. I decided not to change rooms, but I did tell them at reception and they were very apologetic. The breakfast buffet was not extensive, but it was adequate. It was easy to walk around Zermatt from the hotel. There are no motorized vehicles, just a few electric vehicles for deliveries and workmen. I found Zermatt charming and the views of the Matterhorn gorgeous.

"Beautiful and comfortable stay"
7Abby1990, 07 Octobre 2015

Nice place with comfortable and big rooms. Very very friendly staff. The market is small but very close to the hotel. They gave us a free upgrade too. :) The station is at a walking distance. The room was cosy with hot water supply. Best for a maximum stay of 2 nights. The journey to Zermatt was also beautiful. Small town with no cars. Only battery cars were there. Zero population and sunny weather.

"another great stay"
swissmadStokeOnTrent, 06 Octobre 2015

stayed again at this hotel fantastic food and great friendly staff, you get a great welcome that makes you feel comfortable from the start of your holiday , checked in and was given an upgrade to a larger room , which was great as we where staying for 11nights. cant find anything negative to say really if you want a good location just five minutes from the station and close to everything yet lovely and quite this is the hotel for you.

"you fill like your home"

"Great hotel great service"
Heb2013, 04 Octobre 2015

We checked in here after a long drive. We left our car in Tasch. We were transported to the edge of town. The hotel vehicle was there to meet us and took us to the hotel. Everyone treated us very well, rooms were spotless and comfortable. Great location, close to everything. Only negative, it would have been nice to have a fridge. I would stay here again
