"Overnight in Tours"
tina01_7, 21 Août 2023

We stopped over for one night in Tours. Tours is lovely and has good restaurants and bars. We stayed at the Best Western - staff are great - really friendly and helpful. The hotel car park was full but they provided details of car parks a few minutes walk away. They also allowed us to store our bikes in their garage. Rooms are small but clean and it is an older hotel. We had a few drinks in the bar at the end of the evening - a good way to meet other travellers. Check out was swift.

"THEY STOLE 11 POLO RALPH LAUREN SHIRTS I GAVE THEM FOR LAUNDRY, THIEVES!!"
hernanmO9231DU, 17 Juillet 2023

The Hotel STOLE 11 pieces of clothing, 8 polo ralph lauren shirts and 3 tshirts i gave them for Laundry a the hotel , they agreed to pay me for my clothing but after i checked out they emailed saying i needed to file an insurance claim and go the police station to file a complaint, they are the worst thieves!! DONT EVER GO THERE, THEY STOLE MY 11 SHIRTS AND THEN SAID I NEEDED TO FILE CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE!!! DONT EVER GO THERE!!!

"Three nights in Tours"
ofallongirl, 18 Septembre 2022

My husband and I spent three days here on our recent trip. We chose this hotel for being close to the train station. Our room was relatively clean, we had some long dark hair in the shower. The air conditioning worked well enough. We enjoyed the laundromat and grocery store around the corner. It was easy enough to find the tourism office which was the meeting point for our tour. We had breakfast one day at their buffet. The breakfast had enough choices but I did not think it was worth the extra 15-18 euros. Best Westerns should build the price of breakfast into their room rates and just include it.

"Best Western? - Actually Worst Western"
BrockportFamily, 18 Juillet 2022

Stayed one night at this hotel as part of a group. I understand that hotels in this region of France may not have air conditioning. However this place was supposed to have air conditioning. The air conditioning in two rooms was broken and the temperature in the rooms was 31c / 88f. That is not a temperature where people can sleep. The two couples with the broken A/C relocated to a different hotel. The AC in our room barely worked. The big problem was that is dripped all night,. The carpet was soaked by morning. The hotel staff was unable to assist with those problems.

"Nice hotel in Tours"
888travelpro, 04 Mars 2020

Nice hotel, relatively clean compared to many other French hotels. The rooms are getting a bit older, owners should look at that, especially because this is a BW plus, but so far so good. Parking fine, breakfast very good for a French hotel. We stayed here with pleasure and will be back. Staff is very good English speaking.

"Best Western Artistes - Tours, France"
clairej54, 02 Janvier 2020

Easy check in and polite staff. The room was comfortable and clean. We had rooms connecting rooms. Good location with restaurants and retail close by. Easy walk to train station and into the central business area.

"Well located and well priced"
K2364IRpaulj, 22 Décembre 2019

Less than 5 minutes walk to the train station and 15 minutes to the tourist sites. We had a king suite for €100 for one night which had plenty of space for our party of three. Good secure parking under the hotel for €10 was a bonus as we had a car full of Christmas presents that we didn't want to have to unload for the night. Didn't have breakfast as there was a small supermarket just around the corner where we could get pastries and juices.

"Fine hotel in a non-descript little street"
Niels E, 28 Octobre 2019

We wanted to be close to the city centre for the obvious reason that Tours is one of overlooked gems in France. A marvellous medieaval centre, an impressive cathedral, a lovely atmosphere in a university city filled with young people everywhere. I knew the city quite well, having been there several times, but I wanted to show it to my wife. In selecting this hotel we thought we ended up in the middle of the city. That is not quite the case. You are within walking distance of everything, but there are hotels closer to the centre. This hotel sits in a small side street and not a very interesting one at that. The advantage is that you are in residential area with little traffic. Another advantage is that there is private parking under the hotel - note: Very steep driveway. We definitely liked the hotel, but found out that you need to go for a junior suite. The standard room is a bit to the small side. The rooms are in fine condition. The same goes for the bathrooms. The beds are good. Breakfast is good with a wide selection of everything. We did not have anything but breakfast at the hotel so we would not even be able to tell you if they serve dinner. Tours has so many fine restaurants that it would be a pity not to select some of those. This will be one of the occasions where you definitely will feel old. The majority of the other dinner guests will be around 25 years of age. As I said: This is a university city.

"Hotel in Easy Walking Distance to Restaurants"
elan3, 15 Septembre 2019

Overall, I would rate this hotel as 3.5 stars. It was an easy walk from the train station, to nearby restaurants, and a small market or grocery store. The downside was our room was very hot on the second floor and the AC did not work very well, which caused us to open the windows (normally a good thing) but listened to cars pass and wake us up at night. That said, the room was very clean and the breakfasts were great. Overall, the staff were friendly.

"Perfect base for overnight"
K9077OHchriss, 31 Juillet 2019

Superb hotel. Wonderful position and easily accessible from main routes. Small secure car park underground (10 euros). Range of cages, ships and restaurants nearby, as is train station. Friendly and helpful staff and excellent buffet breakfast. Had king size room for family of four; big enough, but slightly squeaky sofa bed. Excellent facilities, including coffee machine in room. Would stay again.

"Good location to train, service questionable"
Chloeh114, 24 Juin 2019

Stayed two nights. Location is good from train station , short walk. The room was small on the street , some noise . The sink drain was not working and we reported it three times the night we came in , the next morning and again that evening . Theysaid they would have it looked at but nothing was done . The elevtor went out , which we had to report to the front desk ,after that they did call to have fixed. We were worried , as we would be leaving the next morning and had luggage to deal with. Overall disappointed with this best western plus . I got the feeling the front desk was new and not sure what to do when there was a problem and honestly how to resolve items with their guests.

"Not deserving of the Plus rating"
Potlucktravel, 11 Juin 2019

The advertised resto use to exist... only breakfast now. The bar is operated by the desk clerk, who is unsure how and what to do with the very limited selection. Clerk was unsure about food availability within walking distance, but we literally walked around the corner to five eateries! Whist displaying my handicap pass in the car, we parked in the only blue spot in the garage. Upon attempting to leave in the morning, a staff member had wedged their car beside the drivers side of mine! Cute, 2 cars in one spot, until my wife needed to climb across seats to back the car out so I might enter. Upon complaining to the desk, I basically got a shrug! Not a Plus, not a bit classy

"Good accommodations"
Andre F, 04 Avril 2019

The accommodations are small but good. Nice Breakfast and good location. Tours is a nice base location for a Loire Valley trip, it is not that expensive city and it really close to the finnest castles in the area. Be aware the hotel staff is very moody.

"Very nice indeed!"
Kimberlee H, 07 Janvier 2019

This is a very well styled hotel with each room celebrating a different film star. We had Robert De Niro in our room! Very stylish and comfortable room with fridge. Covered balcony was a real bonus too. Hotel is easy to find, has a very quick check in and there is parking right outside in the street.Failing that, there is a public car park nearby. Hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from all the bars and restaurants, along with a large train and bus station. This is in a lively, exciting and beautiful city.

"EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE"
wcraft, 24 Septembre 2018

This hotel is located a few minutes walk from the main railway station in a quiet location. First impressions on arrival are excellent and the reception was very welcoming. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well-equipped. I had a minor problem with the lighting in my room and the response from the manager was quick and effective. The breakfast buffet was copious. All in all a great experience.

"Great location"
anthony s, 18 Septembre 2018

This hotel is 5 minutes walk from train station, trams and taxis. It is clean but basic all you need. One thing is the front desk is not very pleasant or all that helpful Besides that this hotel is passable.

"good stopover"
robtLoughborough, 17 Septembre 2018

Very good place for an overnight stop with interesting parking (our Renault Scenic squeezed round the bend in the entrance but the spaces are littered with pillars and other obstacles) , good air conditioning and excellent breakfast. We will return.

"Wonderful place to stay when in the Touraine"
Hudson S, 24 Août 2018

We loved our three-day stay here. The hotel is quiet, the bed very comfortable, the air conditioning is adjustable, quiet, heat-pump style and was the best during humid days, the breakfast offering was superb, include it when you book, with everything you could want to have, from eggs to fabulous croissants, fresh espresso coffee machine, fresh fruits, charcuterie, local cheeses, yoghurt, crepes, nice local jams and more. Our room was small but fine. We were happy to have one English Channel to watch, CNN international. The front desk and all personnel were extremely gracious and helpful. Highly recommend a stay here!

"Small hotel, great breakfast"
KathyxxIrishxxx, 14 Août 2018

We stayed for 4 nights here, central location a few minutes from the train station and the cathedral. The room was fine, not overly modern but not too dated either. Very clean. Aircon was great as it was particularly hot weather that week.Breakfast was an amazing selection , as good a s a 4 star hotel. Small outdoor area for drinks.

"Didn't Live Up to Expectations"
XStephen, 09 Août 2018

We had a frankly poor experience, all the more so because the hotel is over promoted on its website. The air con didn't work in the room, so we were helpfully moved to new room on the second night of our stay. The external space is very small and without shade so unusable in the afternoon. There were various niggles (no map of Tours available, teabags with a Nespresso machine, soap dispenser empty etc) and in the end we stopped asking for help sorting them out and felt we were the wrong sort of guests. Definitely think you could do better for a two or three star in Tours.

"Super sympa!"
Brighde9, 07 Août 2018

Stayed here for a visit to the Vitiloire wine festival. I wasn't sure what to expect because the last time I stayed in a Best Western was in Paris in the early 2000s and that wasn't a great experience but happy to report that my slightly pessimistic expectations were confounded! Very quiet and comfortable room that was totally non-smoking, window that opened, great breakfast, friendly staff. Slept perfectly and would definitely stay again.

"Well located, good staff"
PamAshe, 18 Juillet 2018

The hotel is comfortable, within walking distance of the old part of town and very near the train station. I would like to mention that the staff was very helpful. I broke a tooth and Alain, at the reception, went out of his way to help me find a dentist. As I was leaving that day and could not find someone to see me during the day he called our next destination and found a dentist for me. Thanks to Alain I had a comfortable end to our biking trip along the Loire.

"Comfortable and Good Location"
insomniac2, 07 Juillet 2018

We stayed at the Best Western L'Artist on our last night in the Loire Valley. We wanted a location close to the train station and close to Hertz car rental where we dropped off our car. This hotel was 5 minutes away from both. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was decent but nothing special.

"Good hotel, very helpful staff"
badgerbob490, 07 Juillet 2018

We stayed 2 nights while visiting sites of the Loire Valley. This property is well-located near everything visitors might want to explore in the centre of Tours, while being out of the mainstream of pedestrian and vehicle traffic. While some reviews mention the difficulty in parking a car in the underground garage, we parked our rental car (Peugeot 200) and had no problem. On arrival, the gentleman at the front desk let us walk down into the garage to ensure it would work for us. It was not as confined and challenging as some reviews have reported and definitely not as difficult as some garages we have used in the US. This same gentleman kindly provided us with dinner settings and a corkscrew when we returned later the first night with a take-away pizza and bottle of wine to enjoy in our room. We also were pleased with the customer service from the woman at the desk each morning, who helped us with suggestions for visiting chateaus and wineries in the area. Finally, we enjoyed an excellent continental breakfast served at the bar each morning, for under 5 euros/person. Our server was very kind and helpful as well.

"Ok, just average"
Raf19, 25 Mars 2018

Stayed for a few days as a base point to explore Loire Valley castles and wineries. Check in- I drove directly from CDG after a 12 hour flight, so yes I was tired. Check in was quick and efficient. Not very informative. Room - very small and with a light cigarette smell. Relatively dark. Wifi good. Just ok for a short stay, but manage your expectation. Parking – it is a small garage, challenging for larger cars, but at least it has a direct elevator. EUR 10 per day. Location – walking distance from shops and downtown life, near train station too, but not noisy at all. Good. Breakfast – did not try as there were many options in the area.

"Excellent stay each time"
reaz1, 18 Janvier 2018

Stayed here 2 times for 2 nights each time and I've always had a good stay. Quirky hotel whose rooms are named after famous people - no boring numbers here. Had a good welcome, nice room, nice toiletries, comfy bed, good breakfast. It's also quiet but close to the train station.

"Good hotel in a good location"
1954travelpro, 13 Janvier 2018

The hotel is easy to find and reach, In the heart of the City. Friendly staff, good parking facilities and a very good breakfast. For us, on our way to Portugal, it is a good stop for many years. Also on the way back. Price is fair.

"Nice convenient place to stay in Tours"
Don L, 15 Novembre 2017

Spent one week here. Conveniently located. Restaurants and shopping district is at walking distance. Well appointed rooms and staff is English speaking and always willing to help. They will organisemail sightseeing tours.

"Convenient to train station"
Pam R, 09 Novembre 2017

We found the hotel to be clean, the staff very friendly, and the breakfast had a lot of choice. We did not have any bad experiences with individuals close to the hotel or anywhere else. That being said, it is certainly scary that one of the reviewers had a horrible experience. I do not recommend parking in the underground garage. The drive down to the garage has a very sharp curve and unless you have a micro car, don't attempt it. I drive a VW Passat barely made down and up the ramp. I had literally had an inch on both sides and was petrified that I would scrape my car. Park at the train station and walk. It costs 12 E per day and the parking places are wide and plentiful. Well worth the additional money and short walk.

"Nice hotel but beware of area."
380berc, 24 Octobre 2017

Just returned home after weekend visit with my two friends. Nice hotel. Room small for 3 people but comfortable. Staff very nice. Unfortunately on our second night we were walking back short distance from restaurant near by when a man seemed to appear from nowhere and as he was passing us grabbed my friends leg and attempted to sexually assault her. My friend screamed and we ran. He jumped into his car that he appeared to have been waiting in earlier . We dread to think if it was a woman on her own what would have happened. We reported incident to staff in reception next morning as there was only very young guy on duty that night and my friend was too upset.receptionist said as its near train station there may be people like that unfortunately. She said it was a safe area usually but little or no street lighting around the hotel and no security cameras obviously makes it unsafe. This was also only 22.35 when it happened.apart from that tours has nice restaurants and shops. Good base for touring.

"What fun!"
groupleader45212, 28 Septembre 2017

This is a great hotel in the middle of downtown near the train station, cathedral and old town. Many, many ethnic restaurants in walking distance and both the Galleries Lafayette and Ks Printemps in the neighborhood. Rooms are compact with nice showers and I enjoyed the classic Hollywood film star photos. I had the roger Moore James Bond room.

"Nice budget hotel with Cinema ambience, good service, good location"
Marina L, 14 Septembre 2017

Friendly staff, clean room, excellent breakfast, close to the most tourist attractions. Elegant setting inspired by Film Noir...Parking is within the hotel premises, however small car is recommended. Building is nice and streets around are quiet. Old city is 10 minutes walk.

"Located in a quiet area near the train station"
nptp84, 24 Août 2017

We really appreciated the quiet area that this hotel is located in. The hotel is also located near the train station which makes it easy to use the city of Tours as a base when visiting the Loire Valley. The staff was very helpful and warm. The room was clean and comfortable. We would stay here in any future trips to this beautiful part of France.

"For a business trip: great"
Ironmaiden1973, 01 Août 2017

Not the maximum but a good rating. When I arrived on Sunday evening I did not find any parking. The hotel has its own parking for EUR 10.00 per day (underground and secure) but it was full. Anyhow, I would not use it as the entrance seems small and I'd worry I'd scratch my car. But don't worry about it: there is a big underground parking next to the IBIS. It will take you 4 minutes to walk back to the hotel - not that much hassle. On top of that you won't scratch your car and it is with EUR 12.00 for 24 hours only slightly more expensive. The hotel is nice and cozy, the rooms are of a decent size and the bathroom seems fairly new. The staff is friendly and welcomes you every evening with a warm smile. Roomservice is possible but every time she had to tell me first what is available and what isn't so on the 2nd night I actually ordered a Pizza as there was almost nothing left. But I can live on Pizza anyhow and the Croque-Monsieur was not all that good anyhow. Best Western is a safe bet for a good price, the hotel is central and seeing that I have a car it did not matter anyhow whether I am in the city centre or in the middle of nowhere. Good stay!

"5-star quality at an excellent price."
Larry K, 28 Juillet 2017

We chose this hotel because we're Best Western members and appreciate the discount, but we were wowed by the quality, way above what we expected for the price. The room decor, quality of the bedding, and amount of space are almost lavish. The staff were particularly helpful. The location is very near the TGV train station, which means that it's about a 20 minute walk to the older centre ville. On street parking is not difficult, but the hotel does have underground parking for €12 per night.

"Very nice stay, will be back again"
Robert D, 07 Juillet 2017

The location to the station and tram is excellent for travelers. The hotel staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. Rooms were decent size and were very clean with overall good housekeeping. The hotel is in a quiet area so room nice was never a problem. The breakfasts were not elaborate but were fine with ample coffee for us caffeine addicts.

"Great Location"
usfcharmed, 05 Juillet 2017

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We appreciated how close this hotel was to the train station (and car rental kiosk). This was a great midpoint to rent a car and tour the chateaux in the Loire Valley. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

"Comfort and close location"
Jirapak S, 02 Juillet 2017

I spent 2 nights here. I really happy and enjoy the services, room facility. new and comfortable. they have air condition it really proper for summer time like this. The staffs are very helpful and kind. all facility in the hotel quite new and well maintain. it great. for the location,it easy if you come to Tours by train only walking distance. of cause it so close to city center also. so lucky to select this hotel. if compare price and what we got it really extra for us.

"Friendly and convenient"
Phil R, 26 Juin 2017

This is a friendly and well appointed 3* hotel tucked in a back street near the centre of Tours and only a 5 min walk from the station. The reception and restaurant staff are very friendly. There is very limited parking however we were directed to secure underground parking under the nearby hotel Ibis. Just another 5 minute walk. Breakfast was OK and the rooms clean and well appointed, if a little small. The room had water and tea and coffee. We would stay here again.

"Quietest hotel ever"
Gary_Radley, 22 Mai 2017

The quietest hotel I have ever stayed at. Breakfast was very good, but no toaster. Room 210 was on end and had a bay window for extra room. Room and bathroom were furnished to a high standard, as were corridors, reception, breakfast room and exterior. Location was in quite residential area, but was only a five minute walk to both train station and tourist information center where we were meeting to go on tours. Overall a great hotel at a very reasonable price with included breakfast via hotel website.

"Very nice "
Andrea D, 23 Avril 2017

Not far from the centre of Tours. The room is very nice and well furnished; I like the style. I've been here during my visit of the Castles in the Loira region. I 've never been in a Best Western Hotel, but my first experience is good.

"High five for the service! "
tommypanhard, 20 Avril 2017

We stayed for two nights and two hotel was just two minute walk from station. It haf strong vintage decoration with movie posters and old photos of stars. Cozy waiting lounge. The room got the essentials nothing fancy but without loosing touch of retro. Super tidy. We got breakfast buffet deal for free and it was so delicious. Viennoiseries cheese ham tasted fresh just like home. All hotel team were constructive pitching ideas with big smiles while we had some questions. They allowed us to store our luggages before check in and took breakfast at 5h30 am before the train. Thus, strongly recommended.

"Overnight stay"
Liz C, 13 Mars 2017

Ideal location, super staff and very comfortable for a family of four. We were made to feel most welcome. Good recommendations for food at night. Clean and private. Good stay and ideal for a pit stop en route!

"Very reasonable hotel in Tours"
1954travelpro, 19 Décembre 2016

We use this hotel every winter on our way to Portugal. It is a friendly hotel in the centre of Tours, with a very good garage which is important for us. Breakfast is very well organized. Rooms are good, reasonably clean (apart of the dust against the ceiling) and beds are good. Still no idea how to use the safe in the room......

"Comfortable stay !"
sanjzz, 18 Novembre 2016

We stayed for three nights in nov 16. The hotel is located close to the rail station which is a big plus especially if one wants to explore the area around tours. The room was just about ok size but was very tidy. Bfast is provided at hotel, but there are enough restaurants close to the hotel. The ladies at the reception were very friendly and helpful. Overall a pleasant stay.

"Not too bad"
SandyWang, 11 Novembre 2016

Hotels in Tours are limited unless you go to some Chateau hotels in the country side. This is not a bad hotel, very close to the train station and central Tours. The balcony opens to the Tours and you can see the cathedral tower. The only thing I do not like is the shower. It is not completely enclosed, and you are risk of splashing water around in the bathroom. We only stayed for one night, and did not use all other facilities of the hotel.

"Big space, sofa bed"
Nattawob, 25 Octobre 2016

I stay for 2 night everything is fine Big space, sofa bed, clean, but did't clear garbage in bin for me Breakfast is ok Hotel parking full in first night but can parking around hotel for free Staff is ok, can advice for travel place, English is fine

"Good for a short break"
twirly82, 24 Octobre 2016

I stayed in a ground floor room which was clean, comfortable and freshly decorated. The staff were friendly sure check in and out, the bathroom had recently been refitted and the shower was excellent. I didn't enjoy the breakfast choice - but I don't eat bread of pastries of which there is plenty. However it wasn't included in my room ( via booking.com ) so I'd next time go somewhere else, I came alone for a business meeting - I'd stay again next time I'm in the area.

"A Lovely Stay"
barbaraanne56, 22 Octobre 2016

I booked 3 nights in a comfort Twin Room excluding breakfast. I wanted somewhere near the train station and it certainly is. It about 5 minutes walk. At the train station, go out the side entrance (oposite side to the trams) turn right and across the road you will see a little alleyway. Take that, follow it to the end and turn left. You will see the hotel. As we arrived before check in and our room was not ready so staff minded our luggage while we went to lunch. Upon our return, we received a warm welcome and was allocated room 208. There is a lift. Our room was lovely and it suited our needs well. Nice decor, plenty of room. The air con is whisper quiet, but the window is openable as well, if you prefer fresh air. Wifi is free and fast and there is tea/coffee making. A bottle of water is provided daily. There is a safe and a tv, although we did not turn it on. The beds are very comfortable and the room very quiet. The ensuite has a shower over the bath. Everything is spotlessly clean. Breakfast is served buffet style from 7-10 at a cost of €11:90/person. Great quality and plenty of choice. Both hot and cold dishes. The staff we encountered were friendly helpful and professional. We found the location excellent. Easy walk to the Cathedral area in 1 direction and Place Plumereau in another, plus the added bonus of the closeness to the train and bus station for our 2 day trips. We enjoyed our stay at l'Artist and recommend staying here, particularly if you need to be close to public transport

"Good for a couple of nights"
DaveNKent, 24 Septembre 2016

We had two ground floor rooms that seemed to have been fairly recently decorated and had very large, comfortable beds. The staff were friendly, helpful and spoke good English. Driving into the underground car park was a nightmare. The ramp down is steep and narrow (my Ford Mondeo only just fitted) and there is a very tight bend which I could not take without reversing part way round. Fortunately with others guiding back and front I was able to get in and out ok. The hotel is less than a five minute walk from the railway station and it's about fifteen minutes to the old town.

"Lack of parking not updated"
Leslie L, 18 Septembre 2016

Because I was renting a car when I toured the Loire Valley, parking was very important to me. This hotel lacks parking!! Do not believe the website. Getting into the parking beneath the hotel you have to navigate a very narrow driveway that could easily damage your vehicle. I saw many marks of paint and damage along the side of the parking tunnel. Do not park your car at this hotel, park on the street. Please note you have to pay the meter. The hotel has not be updated in a while at least 20 years. While the neighborhood is central, it is not a nice area.

"Great hotel!"
rf20132013, 31 Août 2016

This is a lovely hotel, which I would definitely recommend. The reception/lounge area and rooms are absolutely spotless and very nicely decorated. Our room had excellent air conditioning and all the usual things you would expect (tea/coffee making, safe etc) and a very comfortable bed. The rooms are all named after film stars, which is a nice little quirk. There was a little noise one night, but nothing much. The hotel is well located, very near the train/bus station, so if you are using Tours as a base for exploring the Loire Valley, you can be at the station in 2 minutes. Or the bar outside it! The hotel is 3-4 minutes walk from the tram stop, which takes you to/from the airport (albeit badly signposted). It is about a 10 minute walk to the main shops and 15-20 minutes to Place Plumereu, where all the main restaurants and bars are. The staff were lovely and helpful. The only minor problem was a breakfast was incorrectly charged to our bill, but that was immediately corrected once I spotted it. We didn't try breakfast, as there are some lovely places to get something in the morning (the briocherie opposite the station is great) or use the gym, so can't comment on those. All in all, I'd definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again.

"Lovely hotel and excellent value"
Peter G, 29 Août 2016

We stayed for 1 night in August as part of our drive across France and really enjoyed the relaxed approach and warm welcome. We stayed with our 2 dogs and were very well looked after, we also took advantage of the underground parking. We didn't have breakfast but it did look nice with a good selection. The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the cathedral and the local bars and restaurants. All in all excellent value for money!!!

"beginning of the journey"
mydellboy, 25 Août 2016

having driven down from st malo , our family of 5 were looking forward to our first overnight stop and first visit to tours. On arrrival to the hotel although seeming to be positioned in a small side street ,it was indeed found to be an ideal position and very convenient being so close to the town and main square. check in was a breeze, nice welcome. The hotel was quite small , but the rooms allocated were beautiful.on the top floor they were very fresh and clean with full working facilities...a lovely find, Down stairs the bar and dining area were again small but sufficient and the breakfast was lovely and very fresh. the only drawback was the underground parking....only can accomodate small cars and bikes....would i stay here again....most certainly

"Good hotel, great staff"
puvimana, 21 Août 2016

The BEST WESTERN L'Artist Hotel is a comfortable, pet-friendly hotel a few minutes from the Tours Railway station. The old town restaurants and shopping streets are about 7-10 minutes away. The hotel is clean, well maintained and provides a good breakfast. The bar is well stocked. Of note are its friendly and helpful staff. A special commendation to Olivier and Clare for ensuring our comfort and for even detailing the attractions of the Loire Valley. Olivier's gin & tonic was pretty good too. Thank you! Negatives - well, parking is limited and when available, manoeuvring your vehicle to the -1 parking bay could be challenging. John. Sri Lanka/Switzerland.

"Average hotel"
DublinCOL, 19 Août 2016

This hotel met our requirements perfectly well - clean and comfortable, with good wifi, shower and breakfast. It is very close to the train station, but over a ten minute walk to the old town restaurants- which was a nuisance for us, as it was raining on our way home. Unfortunately, it's location off a quiet side street made my wife uncomfortable, and takes away somewhat from the overall impression.

"Perfect little mid-range hotel"
pooroldpedro, 11 Août 2016

Good shower, fast wifi, comfortable bed, sufficient power sockets, efficient & friendly staff, aircon, ok sized rooms, ok breakfast, free secure bicycle parking, very close to the train station, short walk into town. Excellent for the money. The nearby Chien Jaune restaurant is good and reasonably priced.

"Average hotel within walking distance to the train station"
Sharon L, 04 Août 2016

We stayed here in Tours and used it as a base of operations for the Loire Valley. This hotel is on a side street just a short walk to the train station and the tourist information office, which is why we chose to stay here. The staff was pleasant, courteous, and helpful. As a big movie buff, I appreciated the movie themed decor.

"A good location in the city"
NicholasKeith, 29 Juillet 2016

We needed an hotel to stay the night on our way to the ferry. As we were loaded and on our way back from Spain we needed a secure car park. This was fine and underground. The rooms were clean and pleasant, well equipped and fine for a one or two day stay. Free Wi -Fi, We ate out but had a buffet breakfast in the hotel, no complaints, no huge stars either, you get what it says on the tin.

"Good Hotel on an unimpressive street"
FormerlyBCBoy3, 27 Juillet 2016

I was travelling to Paris on the train and decided to book a few days in Tours, just to check it out. I decided on Best Western L'Artist Hôtel because it is very close to the train station, it was reasonably priced, and because it reviewed well. On the location issue, I have a mixed review. It really is close to the train station, I'll give it that! If you nip out the side door by quai A, and cross the street you can get to the hotel by walking down a little alley in 1 minute! Walking along Rue du Rempart and then down Rue Frédéric Joliot Curie takes three or four minutes. Neither walk is remotely interesting. There is nothing in the immediate neighbourhood of any interest whatsoever. It turns out that Tours is really small, and the tram takes you from the train station downtown so really, lots of hotels in Tours are easy to get to from the train station. However, that said, because Tours is small a reasonably fit person could easily walk to the Cathedral, the Musée du Compagnonnage, and Place Plumereau from the hotel. So the location is not bad, just not on an interesting street. On the upside: no street noise. In terms of the hotel itself, I can recommend it. Breakfasts were well above average, the room, and bathroom was good, the whole hotel was very well maintained, the front desk people were excellent, basically no problems whatsoever. If you travelling by car you might find the underground parking a real advantage. In years past I have done a Loire Valley Châteaux tour, for which I rented a car, and the hotel would be an excellent base for a that activity. Here's a suggestion: If you are considering stopping in Tours find out when the St. Martin Festival is. I just happened upon it, and it was quite fun.

"Nice hotel close to city centre"
Ian James R, 09 Juillet 2016

Stayed here for one night enroute to Toulouse. Hotel is comfortable with well appointed rooms. The hotel has a small bar area which seems to be under used. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Would recommend staying here as it is comfortable and a great location.

"Very nice hotel"
Cass960, 06 Juillet 2016

We stayed 2 nights and found the hotel staff to be helpful and polite. The hotel is clean, tastefully decorated and the room was a good size with all the facilities we needed including tea/coffee and very clean, crisp bedding. The bathroom was spotless with plenty of towels, soap and hairdryer. We found the maid service to be very good. Breakfast was a buffet at an extra charge but lots to choose from including yoghurts, pastries, bread, cereals, cheese, juices, teas and coffee. It has everything you would expect from a hotel like this. We used the secure underground parking at a cost of 5 euros for motorbikes and 10 euros for cars. We found it perfectly safe with lift access to reception and the floors above which makes loading/ unloading luggage much easier. Sadly the hotel is situated down a side street so it feels like a sub-standard location but actually it's very convenient and the reception staff are happy to call a taxi upon request. On the positive, the area is very quiet at night. We were attending an event at Parc des Exposition, approx 3.8km away and had no problem getting to and from. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel.

"Holiday in the Loire Valley"
Willix, 04 Juillet 2016

I chose this hotel as a base for touring the chateaux of the Loire Valley. It is an excellent location for such a visit. The proximity of the hotel to the train station is a real advantage. The hotel is also situated in a quiet area, conducive to a restful night's sleep. The bedroom was impeccably clean as was the bathroom. Congratulations to the cleaning staff. Breakfast is comprehensive, but expensive and for this reason we chose to walk 1 km to a delightful boulangerie "Aux delices des Beaux Arts" where you will get a Formule Petit Dejeuner for 7 euros. Back to the hotel - shower in bathroom excellent, wi-fi good - a little intermittent. Tips for Management: an armchair in the room would be a real plus. Also, while the beds are very comfortable, the pillows most definitely are not.

"Great staff"
Curly916, 21 Juin 2016

The hotel is on a small street quite close to the train station and just a 10 minute walk to the cathedral and historic center of Tours. The room was clean and comfortable with a good wifi connection. We only spent one night here on our way to Paris so can't really say much. We really liked the young ladies working reception the night we checked in. They were very friendly and helpful. Warning; if you have a car there is underground parking, but the area is quite small and difficult to get in and out of most spaces.

"Pretty good"
Ken_Corum, 17 Juin 2016

We were part of a large student group from the United States, and we only stayed for one night. The hotel itself was actually pretty fun because it had a movie star theme. Every room is named after a movie star. It was kind of fun to say that instead of Room 301, that I was staying in the Ginger Rogers room. Since we were only there for less than a day, we didn't get to check out the hotel amenities, but the hotel itself is located close to many restaurants and businesses along with the train station. However, our group discovered that it's not the safest neighborhood with regards to pickpockets. Nobody in our group got pickpocketed, but make sure you watch yourself. One interesting thing was that each room has a safe, but the safe wasn't attached to the interior wall of the bureau, so someone could just walk off with the whole safe if your room was unknowingly entered. I had never seen that before. Lastly, the breakfast was pretty good with a good array of pastries and beverages. Overall, we enjoyed our time in the hotel.

"Comfortable hotel near train station"
Whiteline10, 07 Juin 2016

This hotel was an average hotel. Bed was comfortable, bathroom small. No fridge and the safe needed a key and a 50€ deposit. The air conditioning was not really cool despite being a split system. The front desk staff were helpful. My tour was cancelled when I arrived and they helped with finding a new one and booked it for me. Breakfast was quite nice. Selection of cold meats, breads, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, scrambled eggs and sausages and you could also boil your own egg. It was about 14€. It was about a 100m walk to the train station which was very handy and all sights in the town were walkable. So it was a good hotel for those using the TGV to see France.

"Convenient to Tours train station & town"
O8503AQkatherineb, 04 Juin 2016

We stayed a long time in an apartment in Tours, but needed a place for the last night before we took a train to Paris. This hotel is conveniently located. We paid an extra fee to use the parking garage, which made our loading and unloading of baggage very easy. The staff was helpful and courteous. We would use this hotel again for a short stay in Tours.

"Perfect choice while in Tours!"
alpendamon, 15 Mai 2016

The Best Western L'Artist is a great pick for a stay in Tours. I chose this hotel for our trip to the Loire Valley based on Tripadvisor reviews, and wasn't disappointed. The location is super convenient - a few minutes walk to the train station, tourist office, and the main attractions in Tours (a very nice city worth exploring, by the way). Plus, the neighborhood felt totally safe and the hotel is on a quiet side street. While the facilities and rooms were modern, sparkling clean, and very functional it was the hotel staff that made our stay fantastic. Everyone at L'Artist from the front desk to breakfast attendants were very professional and friendly. We ate breakfast in the hotel for the three mornings of our stay, and felt it was well worth the small fee (it wasn't part of our rate). It was a typical European buffet style affair with a wide assortment of breads, pastries, cheese, meats, yogurt, and eggs. The breakfast room itself was a very pleasant space to spend some time before a full day of castle touring. We also used the parking garage, and as others have noted the space is tight so leave plenty of time to get in and out - at least if you're used to North American sized parking structures. However, it's a nice amenity since parking in the neighborhood seems limited. Great hotel and staff, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the L'Artist Best Western!

"Efficient and welcoming"
John M, 14 Mai 2016

We chose this hotel having stayed before in Best Western hotels. Also the closeness to the centre as a stopover visiting friends in Tours. Check in was very efficient and friendly. We had a problem with opening the bedroom door which was resolved very quickly. The room was a larger privilege room with a sitting area. The furniture is a little dated but the bed was large and comfortable. We were on the first floor overlooking the road which is a quiet side street so no noise problems. The garage should be reserved beforehand and will not accommodate very large vehicles. It is very tight for standard saloons (VW Passatt) but we understand there is also parking in side streets for free until 9am. We returned late in the evening after attending a concert and had not eaten. The night porter served us a drink and a lovely plate of cheese and was very friendly and professional. Breakfast was an unrushed experience with plenty of choices for continental. Cooked selection is limited (sausages/scrambled egg/boiled eggs). Again, the breakfast team were friendly and accommodating. Check out was also efficient and professional.

"Not half as good as expected"
Emma R, 11 Mai 2016

We usually have great experiences with Best Western, but this did not live up to that standard. The bed was rock-hard (no mattress pad over the spring mattress), the bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned and the decorative pillows were downright dirty. It's an older building with thin walls and old plumbing, so noise from the other tenants and the elevator was a bit troublesome. The hotel itself is rather rundown and gloomy. I would not be comfortable recommending this hotel to anyone.

"A little gem not to be missed! Good location, friendly staff, great breakfast.”"
iris_kai_sin, 09 Mai 2016

Front desk staff, breakfast crew, basically everyone there. We travelled with a six-year old kid and his favourite line was always "should we head back to the hotel?" cause he felt so much at home with the staff there! The buffet breakfast was really good. Don't give it a miss! Highly recommended.

"Nice for the price"
Razasa, 09 Avril 2016

The hotel is well located and the facilities are good The rooms are large with bay window but there was a lot of dust on the furniture. The breakfast is excellent. The attendants don´t speak a fluent English, hard to understand Unstable wi-fi for rooms in the end os the hall I recommend for the price

"Highly Recommended"
Martin W, 27 Mars 2016

I was travelling on my own on this occasion and sought a hotel in Tours that was reasonably priced and close to the station. Best Western L'Artist exceeded my expectations. The buffet breakfast [which included scrambled eggs] was very good and relatively inexpensive. The snacks available were also good. The staff were first class and always friendly and helpful. I inadvertently left a document in my room on departure. The staff emailed me to alert me and the document was then posted to my desired destination. The room was comfortable and reasonably spacious. It did however lack a fridge and the hotel heating was rather too high for my liking. But these were my only concerns in this excellent hotel.

"Very good hotel, great staff"
Anne F, 24 Mars 2016

This hotel seems to have been recently refurbished and offers comfortable accommodation, very nice reception, bar and breakfast room, and is extremely clean. Excellent value for money as they also seem to have weekend deals. Good location in particular if you want to use Tours station as a base to visit the Loire castles. A good 25 minutes walk for the old quarters, but not a problem as it is a pleasant walk. Friendly staff, especially at reception, good breakfast spread.

"Good Best Western hotel in Tours"
JPJ88, 15 Décembre 2015

A bit hidden in the centre of Tours. Quite a deep garage. Good breakfast. Beds are good. Minibar in the room. No idea how to operate the safe, to dark and to deep in the cupboard. Small bathroom but practical and, for France, relatively clean. Friendly staff.

"Superb staff, comfortable stay"
Epices6, 14 Décembre 2015

I stayed here with my group of wine lovers in October and we could not have been happier with our stay! The hotel is well located (the main train station is near by but the area around the station (contrary to some other European cities) is lovely, full of small restaurants and shops. The staff of L'Artist is simply the best! No request we had was too big or too small and we really felt very comfortable in this well-run hotel. Thanks again to everyone there.

"Great Road Warrior Stop over"
LJG27, 11 Décembre 2015

We recently stayed at this hotel on our way through to Bordeaux and it was really comfortable. The hotel is well located and central. Secure parking which was good. Rooms including bathrooms have been refurbished and are quite well done. I really would like to see less bath tubs and more walk in showers, but that's just my preference. Beds are also comfortable.

"Good value, central location"
travelmicky, 08 Décembre 2015

We stayed here one night and found this hotel good value for money. The location is great, you walk to the sights in the city centre. The room wasn't super large but we didn't mind. Free wifi, which worked well. All in all we had a pleasant stay and didn't feel we paid too much.

"Review of stay in Tours including disabled travel facilities"
ChadHeswall, 02 Octobre 2015

My wife and myself recently stayed three nights at this hotel. We need to take a wheelchair with us so disabled facilities are very important for us. The hotel which is family run, was clean, smart and comfortable and the breakfast is very good.. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. The location of the hotel is good as it is close to the railway station and the tourist office and there are restaurants and shops close by. There is a secure underground car park which is a bit tight if you have a large car. From a disabled travellers point of view the only downside was that the grab rail in the bathroom was too short which could mean a disabled person might need assistance in the bathroom. For abled bodied travellers there is no problem and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and the city of Tours which is not just a really good base for touring the Loire region it is a fascinating place itself with lots of sights to see, plenty of restaurants and a vibrant old part of the city.

"QUIETLY CONVENIENT"
mike k, 30 Septembre 2015

This hotel is located in a quiet side street and only 2 minutes from the railway station. It is also 5 to 15 minutes from a selection of restuarants and the " must visit or see" historic parts of Tours. On arrival there was a warm welcome and a trouble free check in. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and all fittings were in god working order. The bed was comfortable. The hotel had an underground car park at a reasonable price, which was most convenient in a town with narrow streets and very limited car parking.

"Good hotel in a very nice city to visit the Loire Valley"
Dulcedeborita, 24 Septembre 2015

We choose Tours to stayed two days and visit the chateaux around. This is a comfortable boutique hotel, indoor parking, nice thematic rooms, each one with a great artist picture at your door, ours Marlene Dietrich. Good breakfast and free wiifi City town begins two blocks away; Tours surprised us, old city with historic building, and new town with elegant avenues, many restaurants, river, bridges, and the chateaux nearest. There are so many places to visit around,

"Good "Pied a Terre" for Visiting Tours and the Loire Chateaux"
Auwaiku, 20 Septembre 2015

We stayed here three nights and found it very convenient and comfortable. The hotel was recently refurbished and the decor and furnishings look very new. - Bed was very comfortable ... not too hard or soft. - Hot water was hot ... and the pressure was good. - Reliable wi-fi. - Very good breakfast. Some have commented that it is too expensive, but it is a great value for a really comprehensive spread: eggs, sausages, cheese, fruit, yogurt, cereals, croissants and pain chocolat! - People have commented that the parking garage is awful. Well, it isn't great, but it isn't too bad if you have a small car. The only problem I had with the garage is that the lights seem to be motion sensitive and shut themselves off if you take too long. I ended up trying to find things in the dark! - The hotel promotes itself as convenient to the train station ... and it is (kinda). If you go out of the train station through the main exit, you will end up in a warren of streets and the hotel will be difficult to find. We did this and dragged suitcases forever in search of the hotel. Later, we discovered that if you leave the station by a side exit (on the right as you face the main exit toward the street), the hotel is much easier to find (and there is a directional sign on the street). We had only intended to use the hotel as a base to see the chateaux in the Loire valley, but ended up spending a day sightseeing in Tours itself. I highly recommend this. Tours has a lot going for it - a beautiful cathedral, an old quarter, the Musee des Beaux Arts, cafes and shops. Rick Steve's travel guide for Loire trashed the city as "industrial" and not worthy of any time, but we totally disagree!

"Good Location"
ehpaul, 15 Septembre 2015

Very good location only a couple of minutes walk from the train station, ideal if you are exploring the local villages & chateaus. The rooms are very comfortable and the décor is good, and the staff friendly. some smaller bars and restaurants are very close and the main area is not too far away.

"2 day stay to see Tours"
Rob A, 13 Septembre 2015

Nice rooms , good breakfasts helpful staff Downside VERY DIFFICULT TO LOCATE AND FIND . But can be found IF you put in address and NOT postcode. When found the location is pretty good for the side of city near the Tourist Office main street and Staion but not for the Old City

"Great if arriving in Tours by train"
michelle09, 09 Septembre 2015

We were very happy with our four night stay at this hotel. Arriving and travelling around the Loire Valley by train, the location was great, just a few minutes' walk to the station. It's around a 10 minute walk to the cathedral and a quarter of an hour to the city centre shops/restaurants (the tram from the station takes you into the centre, €1.50). The twin room we had was very comfortable and had everything you need (coffee/tea tray, complimentary water, air con, extra pillows etc on request). The breakfast is very good, hot drinks and juices on tap, cereals, breads, yoghurts, dried and fresh fruit, cheeses, cold meats, pastries, eggs and sausage available. The staff are nice but not too much in your face. Very pleased overall.

"Good stopover hotel"
holidayfamilysurrey, 09 Septembre 2015

We stayed for one night in a family room to break up the drive south. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. Not a bad location, 10 mins walk to centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would probably use again in similar situation.

"A relaxing stay"
Peter D, 31 Août 2015

It was difficult to think of anything negative to say about this hotel. The breakfast, with its excellent coffee, was great value; the room was quiet and comfortable; staff were friendly and helpful. Perhaps the location - near the station but quite a walk away from the old town - was a bit inconvenient, but the abundance of buses and the tram from the station made it all very simple.

"Nice staff, clean, comfortable, ok location."
Vithiet L, 23 Août 2015

I picked the hotel because of its proximity to the train station on the map. If you travel like normal people with a normal amount of luggage, no problem. However if you travel with a million suitcases like we did, walking there will be annoying. If you drive there, street parking can be a challenge; they offer parking for 10 euros a night but spots are tiny. Other than that, everything was great! Breakfast is 10 Euros as well but very well worth it with plenty to choose from. Rooms are spacious enough and are very clean. I liked the size of the bathtub as well. And the staff is super nice and helpful. There was who was obviously new and was still trying to figure out a few things but her great attitude totally made up for it. The hotel is great but I think the staff is what would make me stay at this hotel again should I ever be in Tours again (hopefully they hire and train future staff members to be the same)!

"Good Place to break your journy to South of France"
Jon D, 10 Août 2015

Lovelly comfortable hotel, helpful staff, clean rooms and good breakfast . Ideal for a family overnight stay.. and very close to town center restaurants , train station etc etc. Underground car park is a bit tight if you have a large car...but its ok if you are careful.

"Ideally situated for train and Loire Valley tours"
JulienMike, 07 Août 2015

I booked this hotel as a home base for our Loire Valley day trip to see the chateaux. We arrived by train and easily walked to the hotel. Plenty of fast eateries around. You are around the corner from the Tourist Information Centre which made catching our tours a breeze. Also, this hotel has family rooms, actually two interconnected rooms, which made the kids happy, and us too. Clean, stylish, comfortable hotel and rooms! We didn't want to pay the full 10e each for the breakfast buffet so we opted for "express breakfast" at about 4e each for coffee/tea, juice and croissant. It was the perfect amount. I thought there was going to be laundry at this hotel, but there was not, however we found three "lavaries" within walking distance and did it ourselves one evening. Tours is a great town for visiting this area, we did not come across any other Americans (which was nice actually). There appeared to be a large, possibly German tour group at the hotel, but all was quiet and the hotel did not disappoint. The fitness room looked good, the spin bike amazing! For the management, the air conditioning could be improved, it was cooler outside then in the room most of the time. The street it's on appears sketchy at first glance, but it's fine, overall a very fine best western property.

"Central location"
Reese C, 05 Août 2015

comfortable room with a kettle. Paid parking is 10 euro per night in the hotel.also it has a small gym. Central location that allows you to walk to the center of Tours. Near the railway station and public transport.

"Great quiet hotel "
DiB143, 29 Juillet 2015

Very conveniently located hotel. Easy to find in a quiet street. The car park was secure but did require some carefully manoeuvring as a tight spaces. The hotel was very quiet with efficient air conditioning, clean and comfortable. It was a 10 minute walk to the main restaurant area. The staff were helpful and friendly. I would recommend.

"Very happy vacationer"
Araya O, 03 Juillet 2015

Hotel location is very convenience. Staffs were excellent and very helpful. We enjoyed staying at your hotel very much. Noted here there were none of "attitude" from staffs toward tourists. I highly recommend this hotel.

"A pearl in Tours"
Stephen K, 07 Octobre 2014

This hotel was so much better than I expected from what I expected with the internet search...their web site doesn't do justice to the hotel. I originally only chose this hotel because it was close to the train station but kept the reservation when our plans changed and we arrived by car. Good idea! Excellent accommodations, free parking and close to excellent restaurants along with a economical price. The hotel handles a lot more people than you might imagine from the compact exterior view. The breakfast buffet is of moderate size but we witnessed and amazing efficient performance of simultaneously servicing two tour groups and individuals on the morning we were there. The staff didn't miss a beat and provided a pleasant experience for everyone. Most hotels would have had a major problem...Bravo!
