"Wonderful hotel"
Martie R, 26 Décembre 2023

Great location- walkable to wherever you want to go. Crisp linens, comfortable bed, great breakfast. We had a large balcony that was great to take a pot of coffee there. Next to Il River, beautifully decorated.

"No recommendation"
GoPlaces40443066873, 02 Octobre 2023

The hotel is not recommended. We had to unexpectedly leave early after one night because our dog got sick. The hotel was not accommodating and charged us the full amount for several days (room, garage, animal). Very bad and very unfriendly.

"Excellent Hotel througout"
Nigel H, 22 Septembre 2023

Excellent staff throughout the hotel. Wonderful breakfast. Great room with a balcony overlooking the river, comfortable bed and spacious room, perfect location 10 minutes from centre of Strasbourg. Quiet and peaceful. Couldn't have been bettered.

"Very good hotel for a city trip in Strasbourg !"
Laurence_DE_2011, 09 Juillet 2023

We enjoyed our overnight stay in this hotel. Everything went very well. I could not complain about anything : valet service for the car, friendly staff at check-in/out, clean and spacious rooms, very comfy beds, excellent breakfast buffet. Quiet location, close to the city center (max 10 walking minutes to the Cathedrale). I would certainly consider booking this hotel for another stay in Strasbourg.

"Reasonable stay"
jo1963, 02 Juillet 2023

Stayed here for 1 night only at the end of our Germany road trip on the way back to the tunnel Arrived at the hotel, porter took our car off to be parked nearly Check in was simple, we added breakfast to our stay mainly for convenience Room was nice, bathroom was down 4 steps which was ok for us but may have been a problem with someone with mobility issues. Good 15 minute walk into the city centre, hot footed it back to the hotel after dinner as rioting in the centre. Cocktails to die for in the bar - totally recommend them Breakfast was very disappointing, at £20 per person we expected a lot more, pastries were obviously shop bought, very small and unappetising Overall not a bad place to stay but i recommend going out and finding breakfast elsewhere if you can.

"Comfortable hotel in central location"
PennyW, 24 Juin 2023

First time to Strasbourg and impressed by boulevards of elegant buildings, one of which was our hotel! Husband parked outside, inside was nicely refurbished old style buildings with art on the walls etc. Our room was spacious and comfortable, tasteful and with a very comfy bed and everything we would expect except the shower was a bit awkward and the air con controls slightly weird and noisy. We were so close to everything! Out for a boat trip from nearby which was very well worth doing. We ate out (no restaurant) at a lovely restaurant nearby, Au Bistro du Quai which I would also recommend. Lovely breakfast in elegant breakfast room next morning and off before 9am when charging for parking would commence. We could well be back.

"Strausberg"
Amy M, 27 Mai 2023

I was very disappointed with our stay. We were brought back into the last room on the top floor and the elevator did not go to the fifth floor, without doorman we had to bring luggage up a full flight of stairs. The room smelled musty and the grout in the bathroom tile was dirty. I felt the carpet in the halls were dark and dirty. The room itself was a bit dusty and needed refreshing of upholstery. The manager assured us that it had been done recently, within the last five years. The staff was very sweet. Room service was fast and ok- not amazing, but the breakfast had lots of options. The location of the hotel was great, and the city itself is lovely. So beautiful and clean.

"Clean, comfortable and classic."
SouthwestSam, 12 Mai 2023

Gorgeous Hotel in a historic building with olde world charm. Our room overlooked a beautiful church. Very clean comfortable room. Bathroom also very clean. Very close to trams, shops and the old city. Highly recommend.

"Perfect Christmas Market stay"
Lucylaprof, 21 Décembre 2022

This is a beautiful hotel! We were recently here to visit Strasbourg and its Christmas markets, and this was an excellent choice. The location is too far to walk from the train station, but easy to reach on the tram, and once you are there it's an easy walk to the cathedral and the heart of all the action. The room was beautiful and large, the breakfast was plentiful in a beautiful breakfast room, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I totally intend to return to Strasbourg again at Christmastime, and this is where we'll stay.

"Grand Hotel in Strasbourg"
VicNicholas, 29 Octobre 2022

The Regent Contades is externally a sumptuous Belle Epoque era grand hotel with a regal facade. Internally, it is good, but not great. The room we were allotted was quite good, though smallish. Not a worry, it was perfectly fine. But, on our last night just after midnight, we noticed a smell of cigarette smoke. Someone was smoking on their room on our level and the smoke was getting into our room. I went down stairs and spoke to the desk clerk and he came upstairs to examine the situation, and agreed that there was smoke and offered to shift us to another room. But being nearly one AM, this was not a practical option as it it would take at least another hour or so to get dressed, pack up everything and move to another room. We expressed our concerns next day to the desk clerk on duty and to the manager, and despite their sympathetic words, nothing was resolved and we were sent on our way.

"Wonderful experience!"
Traveler824292, 01 Octobre 2022

We stayed at this charming hotel for one week. The room was very clean, the hotel staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We had room service bring breakfast each morning and the service was fast, with very fresh and tasty food. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely hotel. One thing to be aware of, is parking is 30e per night. Pricey, I think, but the parking situation in all of Strasbourg is untenable. Don't hesitate to book this hotel!

"Very good stay"
573feliciad, 01 Septembre 2022

First the not so good: the AC in my room was great as long as you stood under it, but it didn't flow to,the rest of the room. Maybe because I had a corner room. The AC was excellent in my bf's room. The shower water was either tepid or very hot, and not knowing when it would change when in use was a bit unnerving! The hotel states it's in the heart and it IS, BUT you have to walk about 15 mins to get to where all the action is. There is a Carrefour nearby. Now the good: the rooms were clean. Service was great! Very helpful making a massage appt for me and for getting our car (we used valet). You can park in front of the hotel and check in, then go find a place to park if you don't want to use valet. The person who made drinks for us was also the valet and was really helpful as I tried to figure out what I wanted. (No vodka, tho? Weird!) The rate is extremely reasonable. We didn't have breakfast here, so I can't comment on that. It seemed too expensive. I would definitely return!

"Good location but poor guest services and could use a deep clean."
N405CLdeniseh, 19 Août 2022

we stayed here for 3 days at the end of a bike trip along the Alsace wine route that featured charming hotels with extraordinary guest services. On day one, our shower, with a head like a microphone, was dysfunctional. Our request to change rooms the following morning was refused (and our request for instruction on the shower was met with a shrug) even though many in our group had checked out a few hours earlier. No apology. Our toilet broke in the middle of the next night. The next morning, we had to traipse down from the 4th floor (which the elevator did not reach) to the toilet in the lobby. Our request to change rooms was again refused. Again no apology. When i finally advised the same disdainful reception desk clerk more than an hour later that we were having breakfast and insisted that the toilet be fixed promptly, he scolded me for not being “gentle”. After all, it was a holiday and help was hard to find, but he didn't seem to be motivated to help. Thankfully, toilet was fixed when we returned from breakfast. The place reeked of cigarette smoke, the elevator was shabby and the carpets were peppered with stains. Eric the bartender could not have been more helpful and friendly. The cleaner Angela was also helpful with setting up our shower head. We did like the location and the breakfast was excellent.

"Lovely hotel, convenient location"
AmericanInParis2, 10 Juillet 2022

Beautiful building with an elegant façade and opulent interior - tastefully decorated with high ceilings, mirrors, and elaborate iron-wrought balustrades along the staircase. Clean, comfortable rooms - we had one with a view of the Church of St. Paul. Convenient location right next to the River Ill and just 10 minutes away from the cathedral of Strasbourg on foot. Parking is available in the hotel garage for 30 euros per night, or on streets nearby (careful with the meters).

"Recent Strasbourg stay"
Beth O, 04 Juillet 2022

We had a lovely 3 night stay recently. Our room was very nice. Large windows that you could open, tapestry curtains, view of St Paul and the river. Breakfast was included with plenty of options. The architecture is beautiful. It was close to bars on the river, close to the municipal baths (pools), restaurants near by on Marseille, near Gaulle and République tram stops and about a 15 min walk to the center of the historic district where the Notre Dame Cathedral is.

"Wonderful (with a few quirks)"
NMBLK, 09 Mai 2022

This is a beautiful, small hotel with great staff. The location is excellent - a block from a tram stop and a small grocery and just a bit further to the old part of town. There are several bakeries and restaurants within a few blocks. Our room had a lovely French balcony facing the river with a view of St. Paul's church. The room was really beautiful and the only one (of nine) on our trip with two chairs so that both of us could sit comfortably without being on the bed. The room was very clean and there were no noise issues. There were a few quirks about the room that we managed to work around. Others have disliked the cabinetry surrounding the bed because it impedes movement. I will add to that the "echo chamber" effect that it creates if someone isn't a "silent sleeper". The vertical space is utilized to the extent that it makes some things unusable. I am petite (5'2") and could not reach the safe, the upper hooks or the towel warmer controls, or the towel bar without climbing into the tub. The upper shelves of the cupboard would require a ladder. The combination tub / shower was very difficult to get in and out of. The tub with curved sides is slippery when wet and there is no safety bar - nothing to hold onto except the tub itself. The glass divider between the shower and vanity was actually designed to be a door and is not fixed in place. It also doesn't extend far or high enough to keep the floor from getting soaked when someone stands under the rain shower. All in all we were pleased with our choice and should we return to the beautiful city of Strasbourg we would not hesitate to stay again at the Regent Contades.

"Lovely stay"
Rosiedz37, 03 Avril 2022

My daughter and spent 3 nights at this hotel and had a very pleasurable stay. The staff was friendly and accomadating. It was clean and comfortable and only a 10 minute walk to the cathedral. I was especially grateful to the staff when we arrived before check-in time and they found us a room with 2 beds and a nice view. I only have one wish.... that there were a coffee maker or Keurig machine in the room (there is instant coffee and tea available). In closing, I wish to thank the staff for ensuring a lovely stay.

"Super! 5 stars!"
Sieffre, 30 Novembre 2021

I really loved everything about this small boutique hotel. Located just a few blocks outside the central tourist area it was nice to be away from all the crowds especially during the Christmas market season. The hotel has good sized rooms that are very quiet. The staff is wonderful.

"Very good hotel - clean, good location and breakfast "
Globtrotuar, 29 Septembre 2020

Strasbourg is a great city. In my opinion, being there, it is nice to match it with a nice accommodation. Regent Contades is a perfect choice for that. The hotel is located in a nice building. The rooms are clean and large (it's true that we had a junior suite). The breakfast is delicious (serving by staff is a bit annoying, but they are professional and this is the sign of the times). What is great is that they have a private parking if you need it (30 EUR). The hotel is walking distance from the city center, cathedral included.

"Short stay by car"
davidV6752GA, 19 Juin 2020

The location of the Hotel is within easy walking distance of the main areas so relatively central. The hotel was clean and rooms reasonable. No restaurant or bar area serving bar food and breakfast required queuing as too few tables for all guests but breakfast food reasonable. Parking is done by hotel staff who drove the new car into closed garage gates. The hotel accepted liability immediately. Sadly the hotel then took over six months to agree to pay and the car has only been repaired 10 months later. Hence a three rating must be reduced to two and would not stay if had a car.

"Very good"
ioanas821, 08 Février 2020

Nice hotel, located at one of the entrances in old city. Close to tram station and bus. Very very god breakfast. Expensive and limited on street parking next to the hotel (4h 32 euros). Across the bridge 3 times cheaper. Look for cheap deals on their website. Overall very good value to money.

"Well located and quiet"
xIshidax, 04 Janvier 2020

In my opinion a very good option if you want to stay in a nice hotel (old small palace) close to the old town and at the same time quiet. We got a "superior" room which was ok overall, the bath (as big as the room?¿) was really cold though, the heater did not work and the window appeared to not have any insulation but besides that it was fine. The bed was the best thing, really comfortable although this model of having the wardrobes attached to the sides of the header is simply a very bad idea,,, I hit my knee twice during the night... Price was fine as we got an offer but normal pricing is a bit high. Take note that if you have a big car (suv , 4x4,,,etc) it will not fit in the hotel, you will need to park outside (paying). I cannot comment on the breakfast as we had it outside in the city center.

"Comfortable Classic"
PinotNoir, 31 Décembre 2019

We stayed here three nights over Christmas as a conclusion to our Christmas Markets tour. Pleasant staff, beautiful hotel, and a good location for visiting Strasbourg. Ten minute walk to Notre Dame cathedral or a three minute walk to the tram which can take you anywhere. Added bonus was room service. Not that we usually use it on vacation but we needed an easy last night meal and we ordered dinner and it was excellent and reasonable. Don't know how they do it because they don't have a proper restaurant on site.

"Nice Hotel"
Korey79, 23 Décembre 2019

Staff was extremely courteous and went the extra mile to accommodate all of my traveling needs. Lucie and Claudio both greeted me with a warm smile and certainly is the reason I would visit this place again.

"Regret paying what we did"
sarahmurcampbell, 22 Décembre 2019

This hotel was 'ok' but nothing more. The pictures make the hotel look much better than it was. Maybe we didn't have renovated rooms. It felt like it was a budget hotel, but at 215 Euro for a weekday evening, it certainly wasn't.

"Charming hotel in the heart of the old town"
Terje S, 22 Novembre 2019

Regent Contades is a charming hotel in the heart of the old town. It is a lovely building on the top of a hill, close to the castle. There is no lift in the hotel so having a room on the 5th floor was a fight with the luggage. Very nice and home made hot and cold food. Excellent cappucino. Lovely room (suite) with a large bathroom and with a separate but tiny toilet. Very expensive given being off season.

"Room with a view"
DrJulianFreeman, 23 Octobre 2019

Stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. Small boutique hotel. Stayed in a suite on the fifth floor . Very nice. Very comfortable. A/C not great. Staff very helpful and friendly. Location great. Would recommend. Could improve the coffee making facilities- these days we are used to a Nespresso

"Hotel Gem in Strasbourg!"
DStuman, 17 Octobre 2019

After a week in Paris, we hit the road to see more of France and Strasbourg was our first stop and the Regent Contades was our hotel for two nights. Our room and bathroom was beautiful and spacious. While not in the center of old Strasbourg it was an easy 10-minute walk to everything you want to see and do while your there. The staff and service were very good and they helped recommend certain things we should see and eat dinner at and those recommendations were fantastic. The only negative is that the breakfast was too expensive compared to other places we stayed during our trip. We just found a nearby bakery and took advantage of those delicious bread and pastries instead. If you're going to Strasbourg, I would recommend staying here!

"Lovely Hotel in a lovely City!"
brownfellpony, 21 Août 2019

We walked from the train station to the hotel, which was easy to do. We arrived to find it situated beside the river and overlooking a pretty church. The room was clean and furnished with everything needed. The staff were all very pleasant ,helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. Thankyou Regent Contades!

"Great Stay"
maj0205, 08 Août 2019

We stayed for only one night as we passed through. Hotel is close to all the sites in Strasbourg. Very accommodating with an excellent breakfast. Wish we could have spent longer at this terrific boutique hotel.

"A great hotel in strasbourg"
Tova79, 06 Août 2019

A very good hotel with a great location in "petite france". Mostly we want to thank Claudio from reception for his help and a lot of excellent advices. We have not met many receptionists, who give such a perfect service, that made our stay very pleasant one.

"Nice hotel, central location"
Julie W, 12 Juillet 2019

Although there was work being done on the front entrance, it was still easily accessible. Spacious, comfortable rooms, with a breakfast included that offered a variety of options. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. For me, this hotel was so close to everything, and was within easy walking distance. A great location and a very pleasant stay.

"Quaint"
donaldg353, 22 Juin 2019

This is a well situated hotel for those visiting the city. It is close to a tram stop, and you can walk to the train station if you motivated(about 20 minutes). it is also an easy walk to central Strasbourg and Petite France. There are several good restaurants nearby, and a few shops to pick up provisions if you need to. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is not too big, so it is easy to navigate your way to your room. The rooms are not big, but they are not small either. I was not a fan of two twin beds to make a larger bed, but I was able to sleep. The air conditioning kept the room cool, but it was quite loud. I don't know how they would remedy that, the building is older. This may be an issue for light sleepers. The breakfast buffet is adequate. It is in a compact space, but there is enough selection for anyone. The staff were efficient and the buffet always stocked and tables clean. There are not a lot of amenities (gym, pool), but the location outweighs this. I will stay here again when i come back(and I will).

"The web page is true to reality!"
8thSamurai, 29 Mai 2019

Upon arrival we discovered our rental car was too large for the on-site parking we anticipated. However, the hotel staff went out of their way to assist us with parking. The room upgrade to a Southeast corner was beautiful, exquisitely furnished and supplied with quality toiletries. This room had a very romantic atmosphere. Had we not made other plans, we would have stayed longer. Great location and within walking distance to all sites. We did not have breakfast in the hotel, but chose to go into town.

"charming hotel nice location"
mariannekastrup2015, 26 Février 2019

A very classy hotel in a beautiful area of the city. Fine breakfast with a large display of food, nice room, very well equipped bathroom, coffee/teamaker, the bed was very narrow which was the only minus I hope to come back

"Beautiful French hotel within walking distance to the Grand Ile city center"
toriab082006, 06 Janvier 2019

Everything about this hotel was perfect! Fanny and everyone at the front desk could not have been more helpful and kind!! Our room overlooked the large Cathedral and was very comfortable and well-apportioned. It snowed one night during our stay, and the view with newly dusted buildings was so spectacular! Breakfast was served in this beautiful French saloon - the details from the crown molding to the artwork were stunning, and the food was delicious. The waitstaff was super attentive and it was the perfect way to start each day. Since it was the holidays, they left us a sturdy, jute bag for shopping and a small jar of French jam as Christmas treats in our room. There is a private shower / sauna room on the 5th floor which we used almost every night after a long day of sightseeing - no addt'l charge! All we had to do was call the front desk about 15 min. before we went up so they could pre-heat the sauna and make sure the room was stocked with clean towels. It was like having a mini-spa at the hotel! There is also a comfortable sitting room by the front desk with a full bar where we enjoyed warm drinks and snacks. I cannot say enough about this hotel, and it was the perfect start to our holidays in Alsace!

"Solid 4 star hotel - a very comfortable 3 night stay"
SapphireRose88, 27 Décembre 2018

We stayed here for 3 nights over Christmas. The hotel is located just outside the old town and is about 8 minutes walk to the Christmas markets beside the large Cathedral. It was really easy to reach from the main Strasbourg train station, just a 10 min tram ride. You stop at tram stop called Gallia and from there is just less than 5mins by foot. All in all the hotel is excellent base for exploring Strasbourg all town. Pros- * nice big room, we got a junior suite. Although, I must say in comparison to other hotel 'suites' this one seemed more of a normal average room. * nice bathroom, as what you would expect from a suite it was made of marble flooring and a bath. However the jacuzzi function in the bath was either out of order or we couldn't seem to work it. Not a bad range of toiletries as well, paraban free! * We used the sauna which was basically a single room near the Suites. It was quite nice that it's private so you can use it at your leisure. You have to make an advance reservation with the reception. * Nice touch that the hotel left some chocolates for us on the bed. * Room is impeccably clean. Comfy beds. Coffee making facilities provided. * Polite and attentive front desk. Cons- * Not much to say here really, we just basically used the room to sleep and spent a little more time in the room on 25th December as everything around strasbourg was closed! I have stayed in other 5 stars hotels around Europe before so if I were to compare, I would give this hotel a solid 4 star rating overall. I would choose this hotel to stay if I were to visit Strasbourg again in future. And certainly in their suite room which is much bigger than their classic room.

"Everytime a great Stay"
fb_trips, 20 Décembre 2018

The Hotel Regent Contades is located in Strasbourg city centre, next to the River Ill and a 10-minute walk from the Cathedral. The staff are great and the rooms are spaciouos ,well appointed, very comfortable and the bathroom was extremely comfortable and large. I have been there many time and everytime is great to be back. I definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers to Strasbourg.

"Solid Comfort in Strasbourg"
westcoaster49, 25 Octobre 2018

I was looking for a hotel that was quiet yet not too far from the Central Station.Found it at Regent Contades. My room was a reasonable size, clean, came with a mini-fridge (not always the case in Europe) and best of all a bathroom that didn't squeeze you like a toothpaste tube. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. Several nice restaurants within easy walking distance. And strolling along the nearby canal completed a very pleasant evening. The hotel is a block from a tram line that runs directly to (and from) the Central Station. Look for the C Line and get off at the Gallia stop. That'll save a 15 euro cab fare.

"Nice place for accommodation "
Franz186, 03 Octobre 2018

We did stay in Strasbourg for 3 days and had accommodation in this hotel. Near to old town. You can reach the old town in 5 minutes by foot. Rooms were clean and bathrooms modern / renewed. Breakfast was covering all kind of European food style. Service was friendly.

"Lovely stay"
Zara P, 30 Septembre 2018

We were very pleased to be upgraded in this lovely hotel. It's a brilliant location - just far away enough from the centre to be quiet and close enough that everything is in easy walking distance. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was great and the toiletries very good. The hotel is charming and nicely appointed and very reasonably priced. Would stay here again, happily.

"Great stay. Great staff."
al571, 14 Septembre 2018

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel in a great location. Arrived somewhat early and although room was not ready we did not have to wait very long. Room was spacious and clean with a great view of the church and canal. Parking available for smaller cars in an offsite garage for 33 Euros and they will park and retrieve your car. Staff were very helpful. Air conditioner was somewhat noisy but effective at cooling the room. Located close to Le Michel Cafe Brasserie which we enjoyed for breakfast and lunch.

"Lovely hotel in Strasbourg"
John T M, 05 Septembre 2018

We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful time. The hotel is perfectly located and the room was very large with a comfortable bed. Service was really good, especially the bartender who served us our late night champagne. Breakfast was good, but served in a room that is way too small. We were literally touch elbows with two other couples. Regardless, we were very happy with our stay at the hotel and will be back soon.

"Good hotel"
CristinaGongu, 01 Septembre 2018

Good location, very comfortable room, very bright, quite spacey, including double bed and couch. Decent bathroom, good bath cosmetics. Beautiful design of reception area and cigar bar. Decent breakfast, without vegetables however. We stayed for 3 nights and it was a welcoming destination after one day trip on route du vin. Highly recommended.

"Wonderful stay in a gorgeous city"
CocoDo5, 25 Juin 2018

Loved this hotel. Both rooms were ready when we arrived, and the service was exceptional. Perfect location to walk around Strasbourg, great staff and pretty rooms. Across the street from the Cathedral and the river, but feels very residential and quiet.

"Great Stay Just off the Ill River"
xicolopes, 21 Juin 2018

The Regents Contades Hotel is first rate, offering luxurious clean, comfortable accommodations at a very reasonable price. Our room was large, with a sitting area, a big screen TV, A/C, and large bath with shower and even toiletries (shampoo, body wash, etc.) in the event you forgot to bring your own. Breakfast, consisiting of scrambled and soft boiled eggs, ham, cold cuts, cereals, fruits and other early meal staples, was served in a beautifully decorated dining hall. The service was great and everyone was very helpful, answering our questions about how to get to certain attractions, even helping us with our luggage as we left to catch our taxi (which they called). The hotel has a very nice sitting area and a very cozy bar where we watched a World Cup match. We heartily recommend the Regent Contades for its location as well, just off the Ill River and about a twenty minute walk to the main square and the Notre Dame Cathedral, whose spires tower above the city. We'll stay there again upon a return to the city.

"Once a Noble House"
JustinaTucson, 06 Juin 2018

Once a fancy house of nobles, is now a hotel on the north side of town that is located in a quiet neighborhood not too far from the attractions. It is located right on the river that it makes it easy to always find. Unlike many tourists we like to split our time between two hotels in the same city to experience two neighborhoods. Maybe this travel hint will serve other tourist well in the future.

"Great location and breakfast "
Vicente R, 13 Mai 2018

Strasbourg was our favorite city during our 3 countries trip to Europe this Spring. The Regent Contades is locates right in the edge of Strasbourg's old town. A 10 min walk will take you to the cathedral and it's surroundings, with lots of shops and restaurants. This is an older classic European hotel, with tiny AKA cosy rooms with queen beds. The hotel offers a surprisingly good breakfast buffet that was included in our rate. We parked on a side street for the night and it was free from 7pm until 9am. The hotel's parking cost 30 Euros per night with limited availability.

"Perfect base for a visit to Strasbourg and Alsace. Elegant."
Terri S, 15 Avril 2018

I love this hotel. It's the best place we've stayed on our world tour. Perfectly located along the river and an easy walk to trams and the cathedral. Our Deluxe room was lovely. Plenty of space, a comfy sofa and chair. Huge windows opening to a lovely view of the river, trees and church. Seperate toilet and bathroom was handy. Elegant tap ware. Big comfortable bed with the most wonderful sheets and pillows. No traffic noise. We stayed four nights and loved it.

"Great place reasonably priced "
MelbLady, 14 Avril 2018

We had a large room which had a seperate bedroom and a lounge room with a pull out sofa. A great big bathroom with a spa. Our room was fantastic. Highly reccomend if staying in the area as it was well priced.

"Excellent Service"
JadasPet, 06 Avril 2018

This is an excellent very small (28 rooms) hotel in a central location. The staff is wonderful and their English is excellent. They really go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and happy. The rooms are nice, clean and well kept. The breakfast in the morning is nice and has healthy options. My only gripe. Even though there is room service, I really wish there was a full service restaurant. Also, I would have liked a gym.

"Good rooms bad smell in lobby"
minesingham, 01 Avril 2018

The hotel is nice a bit off the way of the historical town . About 10/15 min walk. Nor many restaurants in the area clse to hotel. You need yo walk into town .Rooms are comfortable and classic. Good beds. Try not to get a room on first floor , breakfast is there and a bit noisy. The only bad thing is that there was a disgusting smell of smoke at the lobby when one of the lobby staff was there .Please staff dont smoke inside the hotel! ! It was disgusting!!!

"excellent service"
dausaduo, 26 Février 2018

The staff could not have been more helpful and my wife and I had a lovely 3 nights here. The standard of the room was very good if a little small. Cleanliness and standard of decor throughout could not be faulted. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of all you could want. Definitely recommend

"Christmas Market trip"
Lucinda1969, 06 Janvier 2018

We spent a week going to Christmas markets with very good friends from Amsterdam. The hotel is grand and spectacular. Rooms are big and very comfortable. Well situated close to town. I spent my Birthday in the Hotel. A real Gem of a Hotel

"High comfort in a place of History"
Robbee C, 06 Janvier 2018

Gday All OK, we had just spend 4 nights in Paris and we headed home to Germany so we decided to stay at Strasbourg for a night (400+ kms from Paris). A great decision. The Regent Contades is beautifully positioned on a corner near the riverside and a beautiful cathedral. The Regent is stately and old and I was hopeful that the room we had booked was also full of character. No disappointment here. The room was large with a separate well decorated and appointed bathroom with large bath and separate toilet !!! The room was decorated classically and suited the building nicely. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was held in a redecorated state room painted white on white with high ceilings, cornices and ceiling roses. The room faced the street and so if we liked we could see the cathedral easily. Highly recommended hotel Cheers All Robbee

"Excellent location, good quality rooms and linens, fabulous breakfasts"
EuroCityWeekender, 03 Janvier 2018

We booked three rooms, two deluxe and one deluxe-plus, which had room for a sofa, and a small round table with easy chairs. The rooms were exactly what we had requested - near the top of the building (to avoid road noise - which needn't have worried about, as it was not on a main road anyway) away from lifts and stairwells, and not directly above reception. The staff were pleasant, the breakfast was exceptional .... just about everything you could want including lots of healthy options and lots of eggs and bacon! It was an easy 10 minute walk into the centre of Strasbourg and the local neighbourhood felt safe. We were there at Christmas and Strasbourg was fantastic - full on Christmas decorations everywhere, masses of Christmas stalls and plenty of Strasbourg-style street food (i.e. potatoes, ham, bacon, onions, sausage etc). Colmar on the journey between Basel Airport and Strasbourg was simply stunning - it almost felt like characters from Harry Potter would appear and buy a jug of butterbeer! The only issue with the Regent Contades that was not quite right was that one room suffered from very noisy people in the room next door - turned up drunk at Reception at 1 a.m. and woke our family members up with the incredible racket they made and Reception had to be called to deal with things. Given that the people had to come through Reception in that state I would have thought some kind management of the situation at that time would have been good. It was made worse by the fact that the same people did the same thing the next night - something that management at the Hotel should have handled much better, I think. Overall, a very positive experience.

"Cozy hotel"
sunflower1484, 01 Janvier 2018

As a first impression, I was a little surprised when the taxi stopped in fromt of the hotel since, as per photos, rating and price, I expected something more... luxury or impressive. The lobby is smaller than pics of course but cozy with a luxury touch. Anyway, the room was comfortable, very clean, and very warm which was a delight in the freezing weather. The bathroom is also very clean, only the shower was slow and needs a bit of renovation. Also at first, you might think that the hotel is not nicely located but on the contrary, steps from tram way and from Cathedral and you can access all sights on foot, place kleber, petite france... We didn't try breakfast since it was a little expensive for 21€ per person. As a summary, very good hotel with helpful staff to guide you and a nice location but a little overpriced.

"Comfortable and convenient"
Traveling_Fool_2011, 10 Décembre 2017

Hotel has a convenient location to the old town of Strasbourg. It was pricey -likely because we were there during the Christmas season, which is really something to see. The city is decorated beautifully with markets setup all over the island. I spent very little time in the hotel because I enjoyed walking around the old town so much. We drove and so used the hotel to park our car somewhere offsite. (was a little worried about that but turned out ok) Room was comfortable and a reasonable size. We also had a bathtub which was nice to relax in after many hours of walking. Linens were of high quality, too. Room was expensive - I think 233/ night but the trip to Strasbourg was definitely worth it.

"very good location"
ErolBrc, 02 Décembre 2017

Conveniently located away from the old city centre hassle but still at a distance of 10 mins walk to here. hotel is very close to Galia tram station which makes it very convenient to travel around the city by tram. Parking is not a problem, they usually have vacant spaces in front of the hotel. Very good staff and efficient check-in. breakfast was good. rooms a bit outdated. Housekeeping services need some improvement. Was a bit pricey maybe due to vacation season. I would recommend if you can find good rates.

"Very disappointing experience"
Maulov, 12 Novembre 2017

It has been a very disappointing experience for an hotel that claims to be a 4 stars. I booked a standard double bedroom, but I received a twin bedroom. The result? An annoying and very uncomfortable “canyon” in the middle of the bed. When I told the manager the issue, he simply (and quite rudely) said that he had no other rooms available. Nice! The room itself was quite old. Only one plug available, in the middle of the room, made charging our devices (phones and computer) quite interesting. And the bathtub had a very nice cultivation of mildew (please see pictures attached). Really far from a 4 stars standard. The final touch, at checkout, the receptionist didn't even bother to ask how the stay was and didn't even bother to say a routine “thank you” or even “goodbye” when we left. Frankly, the staff should learn basic education first, then how to run a “luxury” hotel. Maybe some training in a student hostel, just to begin with. Definitely not recommended.

"Beautiful room, limited service"
Matthew S, 08 Novembre 2017

Large room, comfortable, clean. The location is excellent, at edge of center yet still quiet with parking. The little bar/cafe is fine, however limited service without food. Many restaurants are close. I would definitely stay again.

"Strasbourg Gem"
JimLandArch, 29 Octobre 2017

This is a great little hotel for a stay in Strasbourg. The four star rating reflects it great location and comfort/ cleanliness. Close to the University or a short walk across the river to the university pub district and the main cathedral square. Far enough away from traditional tourist areas to provide a less crowded experience. Also about a 30 minute walk to the EU district.

"Overpriced "
danster48, 21 Octobre 2017

The rooms are ok they are a bit tired and could do with a refurb. Our main issue was the heat the aircon was blowing out when turned off. We eventually moved rooms yet this took reception 4 calls over a 2 hour period from us for this to finally happen.

"Simple"
Jerome T, 11 Octobre 2017

Stay there for 3 nights, old fashion hotel with a beautiful breakfast room. Bedrooms are nice very clean . Sink in the bathroom was blocked . The staff is very polite , welcoming and helpful. Thé carpets on the hall on our floor is old and very over used looks dirty and some of the walls too. Buffet breakfast with a lot of very good choices. Thé hôtel is super well located 10mn walk from the main old town attractions. This is a nice average place to stay over priced for sure considering the town and the season .... But overall it was a very pleasant stay .

"A Good Choice"
FunkReporter, 27 Septembre 2017

We stayed here for ten days and had an overall positive experience. The location is nice for most everything in the tourist district, but we found it to be a long walk to some of the sights in petite France. I appreciated that it is quieter at night than some of the hotels in the main tourist area. The staff are always friendly and ready to help, which was one of the best reasons to come here. The room was a decent size and clean. The air conditioner made a lot of noise but didn't seem to work. The best cafe in town is just around the block, called Cafe Michele. There is also a small grocery store around the corner and a post office. One drawback is there is no parking in front of the hotel so when you arrive you have to drive to a garage that is a few blocks away. The staff are always helpful to bring in your luggage and will park your car for you if you prefer. We rented from Avis which was about ten minutes away at the main train station, so it was easy to return the car on our way home. The breakfast was expensive, but it was quite good and I think it was worth the price.

"Wonderful Hotel in Strasbourg"
nptp84, 21 Août 2017

This hotel is a beautiful, old but well maintained hotel in Strasbourg. The room we had was on the 5th floor. It was big, by European standards. It had a separate water closet that was next to the bathroom. The beds were comfortable. The room was spotless. One word of warning, the elevator only goes to the 4th floor. Be prepared to take your luggage up another flight of steps if you are assigned a room on the 5th floor. The hotel is about a 7-10 minute easy walk from the Strasbourg Cathedral. The city is easy to navigate by foot. There is a tram stop very close to the hotel if you chose to get around by the efficient tram system. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay at this hotel when visiting Strasbourg again.

"Discrete excellence"
GloriousGrey, 23 Juillet 2017

This hotel is in a wonderful central location. It is over 100 years old but has been very tastefully and professionally renovated and modernised. The rooms are of an extremely high standard and are great value for money. Perhaps the most excellent aspect is the superb service received from all staff.

"Great Hotel"
D W, 21 Juillet 2017

Having looked at many hotels online within Strasbourg I was reading mixed messages on the locations and experiences. This hotel appeared to be a little out of the main area but in reality was in a perfect location. The hotel is bijou by comparison to larger hotels only the charm, stature and its location is in my opinion not to be underestimated. The staff are welcoming and friendly, helpful and accommodating. We booked two rooms which were large with excellent facilities and well serviced by the room staff. Buffet breakfast was also excellent within a bright airy room on the 1st floor. We weren't aware if the hotel catered for evening meals as we ate out in some of the hundreds of restaurants and cafes in Strasbourg centre. A steady 10 minute walk took you into the centre of the city next to the cathedral and all the attractions. 100m away at the end of the road from the hotel there is a tram stop and a small super market with an excellent sandwich shop around the corner. The hotel is surrounded by tree lined avenues and spectacular buildings. After a days trekking around the city there is a bar and seating area near the hotel reception area which was a great place to unwind and have a drink. This hotel is perfect, just minutes walk to the busy city yet located in a quiet and peaceful avenue next to the river. Looking forward to a return visit. An after thought for disabled is that the hotel reception and entrance leads down a number of steps and didn't recall if there was access for disabled you would need to ask the hotel only I'm sure they could accommodate.

"No Wow Factor"
Sobay5some, 16 Juillet 2017

The place has a classic facade appearance. We had a room on the 5th (top) floor. But the elevator only goes to the 4th floor. So we have to walk up another 20 steps or so to get to our floor. From street level you have about 10 steps down to reach lobby. Have to carry luggage bags, cannot roll them. Definitely not very convenient. Our friends had a room on the 1st floor and complained about noise in the morning from trash removal. So 2nd - 4th floor rooms maybe ideal. The room is a bit small but comfortable and clean. There is street parking available, free between the hours of 7pm - 9am. Walking distance to the university, cathedrals and La Petite France. An morning stroll from hotel along the river to La Petite France is the highlight, and a number of good restaurants along the way.

"Elegant interior, fun private spa, large and lavish rooms. Great sleep and stay!"
chickenoregg, 14 Juillet 2017

This was a wonderful hotel. The check-in process was swift and the staff very accommodating. Informed we were receiving a "smaller room" I was astounded - it was massive, with a split level: the bathroom was downstairs, the large bedroom and ample closet space upstairs!) The staff helped us ensure our driver was set for the morning - something they did not set up but offered to facilitate the call and pick up time. Despite every room being sold out, there was no noise or disruption - the rooms were sound-proof! The bed was extremely comfortable - I slept so soundly. The bathroom was very large and the shower worked nicely. A nice added bonus was the private spa. Although small, it contained a sauna and shower and all the amenities including robe, toiletries, slippers and multiple towels. One reserves it with the front desk - I was informed I would have to retrieve the key there. I was surprised by a visit by the bell hop bringing the key to me ten minutes early. How nice to have a private spa! I unfortunately did not get to enjoy the provided breakfast, nor did I get to enjoy the bar, but the rooms were both very nice. The hotel is a close walk to the city center, without being right in the fray. I'd happily stay here again.

"Perfect"
sket101, 14 Juillet 2017

The front desk staff at Regent Contades was friendly and helpful. We had to wait for our room to become available so we started exploring the lovely city of Strasbourg. When we returned our luggage had been placed in our room. We stayed in Room 307 which had lovely view of the river and of St. Paul's church. Our room was large with king bed, TV, small sitting area and a nice desk. The bathroom was large with a separate water closet. There was lots of storage space across from the bathroom. There also was a small fridge. The A/C worked very well and the room was exceptionally quiet. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Scrambled eggs, lots of meats and cheeses as well as smoked salmon, breads, yogurts, etc. The location of the hotel was perfect. Easy walk into town but far enough from the crowds and noise at night. The neighborhood is very nice and safe. We really enjoyed our 3 nights at Regent Contades and would recommend it to anyone traveling to Strasbourg.

"Nice rooms and corridors"
Malverns, 27 Juin 2017

This is a nicely situated hotel, walking trip to the centre and big institutions, University and COE and EU. The equipment of the room was very nice, but these days I like to have body lotion as well. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

"Good but room for improvement"
M S, 13 Juin 2017

Located in a quiet area but close to the historic centre and the restaurants. Unassuming entrance which you could easily miss. Our room was a fairly small size and a bit dated but had a shared balcony. Aircon (or fridge) was very noisy. Nice breakfast. Slight annoyance was the drinks we had in the bar whilst awaiting for our bike tour rep. It seems that our request for 2 gin and tonics was translated as being a cocktail, as the price was very high.

"Room with a view"
HarletteInLyon, 01 Juin 2017

Occupying a gorgeous Haussmannian building in an elegant neighbourhood, just off the old city centre, and away from the crowds. Our classic room was small, comfortable and clean although starting to look tired; bathroom was big, bright and beautiful. Splendid view of the Îlle river and promenade, as well as the St Paul church from our window. Located just 300m from the old city, it was a short walk to all the historical sites and about 1km from the cathedral. Not a lot going on in terms of F&B on the property although there is a smart but very quiet bar. Le Michel café brasserie a block away serves a lovely light breakfast for about €5, and good, unpretentious food all day at reasonable prices and a good vibe for a quick drink. With a lot of tourist traps in the old city, we found Le Michel to be our best bet close to the hotel. Public parking available on the main street, free on weekends and bank holidays. In a nutshell, the hotel has a great, quiet location, and satisfactory rooms in need of some updating. We would choose to stay here again.

"Good hotel but not great"
pmartinslux, 27 Mai 2017

I stayed in the Régent Contades for one night and I liked it. The room was excelent (although not quite the "suite" room announced on the walls of the fifth floor, as it was just a bedroom without an adjacent living room): clean, spacious and elegant, with the biggest TV I have ever seen in a hotel (Interesting the "occupied" light outside of each room that is activated when the guest lights up the room). The quality of the room was however contrasted with the poor condition of the corridors: an overall feeling of old and decrepit common areas, elevator going only to the 4th floor, not up to the 5th where my room was, corridor carpets full of stains. The exception was the breakfast room, with fabulous crown mouldings in excellent condition. The building is quite old and I understand the difficulty of bringing up to date such a building, but changing the carpets, curtains or the decor of the common areas is not so difficult.

"Good hotel"
Anna L, 23 Mai 2017

Nice friendly welcome when we arrived, however this would have been better if we'd been told some other information, for example, what time and where breakfast was and about parking. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good but the breakfast room was very hot and became a little uncomfortable. The location of the hotel is fantastic, only ten minutes walk to the centre and to all attractions. Overall, a very pleasant stay, would recommend!

"a wonderful experience"
katrijn775, 17 Mai 2017

The room was very comfortable and clean ! The location of the hotel is the ideal one to walk around the city, visit the historical city centre and have access to public transportation means. Breakfast was very delicious. The hotel staff were really kind and helpful !

"Excellent choice!"
Fabio_Madureira, 16 Mars 2017

That is a beautiful old building, a part of Center but 2 minutes walking to there as Strasbourg is small. Hotel has a nice room, excellent bathrooms, excellent (but quite expensive) breakfast, smiley and available staff and a nice bar near reception. We (me, my wife and my messy and noisy 14 month's old baby) stayed there two nights and all staff was very comprehensive. It was a great choice for us looking for some privacy with a little child.

"Hotel does not fully utilize its potential "
Duck T, 04 Mars 2017

To rate the hotel, it took me some time to decide whether I could grant it with 4 or 3 mark. So, lets go step by step Location is amazing. The building itself is to die for. Any sight is at walking distance. The neighborhood is quite fancy. Really - could not be better The room is a bit shabby as furniture calls for renovation. However, a modern and huge plasma shows the touch of modern age. And I was really surprised with a normal (not digital) key - it's charming but not convenient at all The bathroom is super modern, and I was glad to see Villeroy & Boch products that indicate real quality The only flaw I found was a dirty towel - it had red drains that made me rewash my hair. Still wondering what it was - and hoping it was not blood. I told the receptionist about this issue - and I received a complimentary breakfast. The attitude was good but the choices were not impressive for a 4* hotel. Speaking of staff, I should say that they are really welcoming. Many other hotels should take lessons from those guys - they are really considerate and friendly. To sum up, the hotel needs to be a bit renovated and to put more attentions to a cleaning vendor. After all, it could be one of the best and the most luxury hotels in Strasbourg

"Excellent location...but parking can be a problem"
gazza66, 08 Février 2017

The hotel is well located and only a 10 minute walk to the Cathedral and 20 minutes to La Petite France. There are numerous restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Public transport (trams) can also be boarded adjacent to the hotel. The rooms are a good size (we had an executive double room #102) with a large bath and the usual amenities including bathrobes. The breakfast is extensive with a full range of hot and cold food, breads, fruits etc. My wife loved the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The only downside is that on-street parking is extremely limited and as the hotel is on a one way system it can take a while to loop around the hotel again (as we found out). However you can pre-book parking. We did this but were told our car (Audi Q3) was too big for their underground parking. Fortunately, after we left the car on the kerb outside of the hotel, the reception were then able to offer us a place in the garage (the car was suddenly the correct size) so the car was valet parked . It is €21 per day so quite expensive. Other than issues with parking I highly recommend the hotel. Excellent for a weekend visit.

"Gorgeous building, wonderful location, great breakfast"
Jessica K, 30 Janvier 2017

The hotel is in a good location and has a great breakfast. The hotel room and bathroom were a great size. It was so easy to walk anywhere I needed to go, so the fact that there wasn't much directly next to the hotel was not a problem. A few issues: there wasn't a ramp, so if you have a lot of luggage or you're in a wheelchair, it'll be quite a challenge to get in. I could smell cigarette smoke in the bathroom the whole time I was there - I had to keep the bathroom door closed to keep me from getting a headache. I think that's just an issue because it's an old building and the vents might not be efficient.

"Lovely hotel in a great location"
kknwhome, 17 Janvier 2017

Our family stayed in two rooms on the top floor overlooking the river and a large church. The rooms were very clean, very quiet and the maids maintained them beautifully the week we were there. Breakfast offered a large choice of foods and the staff was most accommodating and attentive. We also found the front desk staff most accommodating any time of the day or night. They happily stored our double stroller each night and afternoon and were quick to answer all our questions and meet all our requests. We would stay again in this hotel and recommend it without reservation.

"Great location and friendly staff "
r_selman, 27 Novembre 2016

Friendly staff, nice rooms, easy access to Strasbourg markets. Staff helpful when a couple of small issues around hairdryers not working or noisy cleaning early in the morning. Try and get a first floor room.

"Lots of room to improve"
Holly C, 04 Novembre 2016

At our arrival, I sensed that booking this hotel was a mistake because unlike their high prices suggested the building and our room looked very dated. I think they DID have done some renovation on bathrooms, but still the room looked old and dingy.. Also like some other reviewer mentioned, I had some problems with some of the staff communicating in English so they failed to meet my requests in correct and timely fashion. They were friendly, though. Wouldn't stay here again.

"Good location, comfortable"
Damir S, 22 Octobre 2016

The hotel is OK, although it needs renovation. The breakfast is not included in room price and it is quite pricey. The personnel is helpful and kind but they have problem with English language. Location is excellent, you need 10 minutes to city center.

"A Geat Hotel in good Location"
Marco27657, 19 Octobre 2016

We stayed at the hotel for a few nights and had a large room with views of the river. The location and amenities are excellent. Bathroom and bed comfort were great. Breakfast is served on a first floor corner room and was good.

"character"
ontheroadsrl, 11 Octobre 2016

Beautiful old mansion turned into a hotel. Overall a bit dated, but the room was nice, the bed comfortable and the staff amazingly friendly. The breakfast failed to impress me and was rather minimal in variety. Lots of good vibes during my stay, which I enjoyed, thus my 4* rating which is based mostly on atmosphere than on any specific impressive aspect. It is also not the best located, you need 10-15 minutes of walk to the center. But on the other hand it is a quite location, without many tourists.

"Friendly helpful staff and good location"
Shailam S, 10 Octobre 2016

Nice location in the city centre, paid affordable parking, friendly staff, loads of restuarants to choose from. Plenty of good local wines to choose from. Many museums to visit. Recommend the river boats cruise to get a quick overview of the city.

"Could use a bit of freshening up"
Paul M, 25 Septembre 2016

For the price and its star rating, this place is looking a bit threadbare. Rooms are not large (no surprise there in a large French city) and ours seemed a bit drab. However, its prime location about 10 minute's walk from the cathedral and the very friendly staff go a long way to offset. Like other reviewers we had no problem finding street parking nearby and the hotel will sell you a city parking pass for eight euros a day (Sunday free). The desk clerk made a reservation on our behalf and despite the fact that I brought down the Michelin guide opened to the right page, he insisted on using the Internet and chose a hotel with an identical name in a town 25 km away. We didn't find out till we arrived at the "right" hotel. Other than that, the breakfast was excellent and included in the room if you book though on online source. Overall I would give it 3 1/2 stars if the system allowed.
