Nice 3* hotel. The staff was very friendly & helpful. We didn't eat breakfast here but went to a cafe for a delicious French breakfast. We were on the fourth floor,. Quiet room & comfortable bed. $12.00 fee per day to park your car. Decent size room & good bathroom. Only soap & no shampoo nor conditioner.

At best a 3 star hotel. Yes its been refurbished but its very basic....rooms are ok but location is in an industrial estate so nothing near it unless you walk 15 minutes to the centre of the town. Bar serves drinks but at 10 euro for a small glass of wine its expensive even by french standards. Breakfast was ok but there were not enough seats for everyone as hotel was busy. Staff are pleasant enough.

I have never stayed in a hotel built with such poor soundproofing. You can hear the cars on the street like there were no walks. The low voice tone of all the neighbours around can be hear like they are in the room with you. Every little tiny details from the surounding rooms can be heard as well as the people and cars outside. Never happened before in a hotel to not close an eye all night due to poor room soundproofing. When told the reception lady the next day, she wasn't moved at all, suggested to ask for a top floor room next time. I was with my wife and my 3 years old that also could not sleep at all due to the noise. The breakfast was nice, hotel clean, checkin staff very nice(altough I would have expected them to book the 2 rooms on the top floor when they saw a 3 years old)

A superbly run hotel with very efficient friendly staff. Very handy for the town and harbour front. Lots of restaurants nearby in this vibrant town. Excellent reservable garage parking. We will definitely return to this hotel in the future.

Perfect hotel in a perfect location. Service was excellent, breakfast very good, hotel is clean and all amenities provided. Also they were very understanding with a personal matter that forced us to checkout earlier than expected. Also hotel is very quiet considering how busy La Rochelle is on August.

This hotel is ideally located, close to the train station and within walking distance to all La Rochelle attractions but without the nuisances of the busy touristy city Center. The hotel has a car park which is a real perk during the high season when all car parks are full. Rooms are extremely comfortable. The breakfast is amazing with plenty of quality products. Definitely recommended !

Almost everything about this three star Best Western is as you would expect. Underground parking, a smart reception and cocktail bar area, spacious rooms with nice bathrooms (but sadly like most continental hotels no anti slip surface on the shower/bath) and a well appointed breakfast room with a delicious selection for anyone's taste in breakfast. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. However two serious issues really spoilt our two night stay. Firstly the air conditioning in our bedroom did not work. We reported the issue on the Saturday morning and the two people on reception said it would be dealt with. On our return at 18:00 nothing had been done and the window had been left open. The night manager said he would get it fixed and if that was not possible would move us to a room with working air con. On our return at 23:00 we were still in the room and still had no air conditioner. For me what was worse was that at 18:00 our room had not been serviced. We were told that this was BW policy and was for “ecological” reasons. We needed soap ( the dispenser had run out) and we needed an additional bath mat and hand towel. Fortunately the receptionist managed to supply us with these items. It is not policy in any BW hotel we have stayed in recently, to not service rooms. Like many hotels they ask you to put towels that need changing in the bath and do not launder the sheets every day. We also noticed that the reception area was being hoovered at breakfast time whilst people were checking out. The manager was very pleasant at check out and suggested that the room servicing policy was a hangover from covid. We were not told about this policy at any time at check in and it was not on the XTripAdvisor site or the Booking.com site At the next BW hotel we propose to stay in we will check their room servicing policy before booking.

Modern hotel in a district close to the old city/Port area and shops, cafes and restaurants. These are all about 10-15 minutes away by foot. Modern, well-equipped rooms with free wifi, fridge, A/C, Tea and Coffee making facilities. We took the lite breakfast in the bar area which came with juice, coffee, pastries and 1 fruit each at a reasonable price. It is worth noting that Sundays and Mondays in France can be a challenge to find places open (cafes, restaurants, shops and museums) The hotel has its own underground car park. It's not huge but great in hot weather. Note the entrance slope is tight but manageable. If you need this I'd recommend booking in advance, there is a charge. For those traveling by train the main "Gare" is just at the end of the road. BTW we can recommend the Aquarium, situated in the port area.

Convenient location for train centre and the quay - restaurants and shops are close by. Dog friendly and secure parking offered when availability - spaces a bit tight though. Helpful friendly staff. I wished we could have stayed longer!

Excellent stay at hotel, close to train station, 5 minute walk to tourist office, 5-10 minutes to harbor areas and restaruants with view of old harbor, less thanb 10 minutes from pedestrian areas. Comfortable rooms, lots of storage, nice bathroom with shower inside tub. Very good brekafast with oysters for breakfast as well as eggs, meats, cheese, etc. Friendly helpful staff.

First visit this year and first since covid restrictions have been lifted so it was great to be able to fully enjoy this hotel again. The renovated rooms are even better than before and the reception and bar area too.

Our party of 6 stayed for one evening so we could go and watch La Rochelle play rugby. The staff were attentive throughout. The room and bed were very comfortable. The location is a short walk from all amenities

I keep returning to this hotel each year during my business trips to La Rochelle. I enjoy just about everything in this hotel - hotel staff is always extremely friendly, breakfasts are plentiful, room and lobby decor is pleasant and intriguing. Looking forward to staying at Masq hotel during my next visit to La Rochelle!

Been to La Rochelle many times, had a great recent stay at Masqhotel. My experience seems to have been more positive than recent reviewers. + location near train station and accessible by car, in a quiet neighborhood about 5min walk from old port staff is English speaking, attentive and available without being intrusive room was spacious, comfortable, well-maintained bathroom was modern and functional (with a walk in shower) breakfast buffet is superb, with a wide variety of choice bar and room service available - have to walk to port (old town) or restaurants: not a detraction but keep in mind Great stay for work, for a week.

The rooms were well equipped, the bed was comfortable and thank you to the cleaning ladies for doing such a good job. The desk staff were welcoming enough and helpful. Parking was available and secure. However the room decor was, frankly, sombre and horrible! The carpet everywhere was a mottled dark grey with greige walls and lots of black finishes. We found the whole space depressing. All was freshly decorated but what a shame that they didn't use an interior designer with a bit of flair and taste.Only the bathroom was light and bright but be aware that the bath is set very high and difficult to access. The breakfast room might normally not have been a problem. But it was a bank holiday weekend and there was a scrum every morning and social distancing was impossible. The willing staff were run off their feet trying to keep everything topped up. In comparison, the rest of the public spaces were large and underused in comparison to the eating area.

We booked into the hotel for one night and ended up staying an extra night as we loved both the hotel and La Rochelle so much. The staff are really helpful and it was reassuring to be able to park our car somewhere so secure. We would definitely recommend staying at the hotel.

The hotel is well located, clean and comfortable. CAUTION!!! They don't ask anyone for their COVID certificates and the common areas are small and cramped. Be careful with the breakfast schedule since social distance is not respected and anyone can enter. The hotel parking lot is shared with another property and it is a real mess. People occupy more than 1 place when parking and nobody watches that the rules are followed. It is narrow, impractical and very poorly organized. The reception service has the classic French style ..... Don't expect a smile or a good deal, because they won't give it to you.

The hotel is located very close to the fort and all other attractions. Away from the noise and hustle bustle yet very close to all the attractions and key facilities like the Gare / forts, Restaurants etc. (within 10 min walking distance) Clean rooms with all amenities provided a very comfortable stay. Great for family stay. The staff are very helpful and English speaking. They provided suggestions for what to see / visit, where to eat, and activities that could be interesting for the children.

This is the first time that for breakfast there is salmon, it is an excellent full breakfast, lots of choice, quality fruit juice, bright room, view of the station, well located in the city, everything is done easily on foot, we enjoyed this hotel

This hotel is basic but located in a convenient and quiet place-within walking distance of the main city and with secured paid parking. It is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The communal areas are welcoming and comfortable.

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, housekeeping only came once, because of Coronavirus paper cups and wooden spoons by coffee machine, had to go to ask at reception for more cups and coffee, kettle leaked water ran out underneath on to unit and carpet, had to stand on a towel, reported it no better. Used coffee machine repeatedly asked for more coffee pods ( only drank coffee in a morning ) Because of lack of housekeeping had to ask for more toilet rolls. Hotel very clean, friendly staff, very central. But will not return.

5 minutes walk from the train station or a 25 euro taxi from the airport this hotel is well located. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful in planning day excursions eg to Ile de Re or the rugby match. Rooms are modern, clean and bright. Buffet Breakfast is well above average with everything from oysters, gravlax and artisan bread through to sausage, bacon and beans! Town centre and harbour with fabulous selection of bars and restaurants are less than a 10 minute walk. The walking tour of La Rochelle with John is fabulous for the first timers to this area.

Comfortable warm, friendly. Handy for the railway station and bus to the airport, yet a short walk to the historic area. The evening offering was a tray meal, but remarkably good, and no extra charge for the room-service

Good, modern hotel with covenient underground parking, an excellent breakfast and friendly staff. My only reason for 4, rather than 5, stars is the availability of food in the evening. Having arrived on an extremely wet day in late September, we tried finding a restaurant in the surrounding streets but found everything nearby either to be closed or unappealing (I suspect La Rochelle's summer season ends at the beginning of September). Given the weather we weren't keen to explore further so thought we'd try our luck in the hotel, only to be told that the only food available was a tofu stir fry or a quiche Lorraine! The latter was perfectly nice but the limited choice was surprising given the quality and array of items on offer at breakfast.

I would have said this hotel was 5* but for the traffic noise which disturbed my night's sleep. There isn't a steady stream of traffic, its just the odd irritating noisy scooter or motor bike in the middle of the night or early morning. So you may wish to ask for a room at the back - I will on my next visit. Everything else was 5*! The location is a short walk to the harbour with its cafes and restaurants. Very close to the Aquarium, Maritime Museum and station. Please book the hotel parking because we didn't find any on street parking in the vicinity. The room was so comfortable with everything you might need and everything worked perfectly. The receptionists were exceptionally helpful and spoke English very well. The breakfast is very good value for money - never seen oysters on a breakfast buffet before. Really enjoyed the local jams and honey.

We had an overnight stay here while visiting La Rochelle. A fabulous well equipped hotel with secure parking and within easy walking distance of the port. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. The room was spacious, well equipped, comfortable and quiet. We slept well. The only point to note is that the shower was not a walk in one so it's worth checking this if anyone has limited mobility. Other than that an exceptionally spacious and well equipped bathroom. We will definitely stay here again.

Phone did not work and was reported not fixed. Went (had to) go down to reception to order trays.Went back to room showered and dressed not trays. went to check out and met by an extreemly rude girl who definately in the wrong jub. The man ordered the trays with said as I was not the only person staying therefor delay should be accepted.....he forgot about no phone etc We spen 250+ nights a year in hotels so we know what can be expected........not here will not use best western again Also to sum up we asked them to get us into a restaurant but said was fully booked...we walked round and got straight in on a great table

Brilliant hotel. Service was fantastic and non-French speaker friendly (although it's always worth a punt speaking in the native language) Location just a short 5 minute walk to the port Great bedroom - well designed and quiet. I also enjoyed the gym here - small but has everything you require if you're a user on a short break

We stayed here one night. The room was clean and modern. Parking is underground - a little bit of a tight fit. Breakfast was good. The staff are very helpful. It is about a 10 minute walk from the main tow.

What a great hotel. The best king size bed and bedroom I have stayed in for years. Comfortable, clean, convenient and cheap parking. 100%! The best sleep I had in ages. Just a short walk to the old port.

This hotel is situated near the train station(gare). The staff are excellent and the rooms are spacious. Breakfast is not included and costs in excess of 16 euros per guest.enjoyed this place. Newspapers are provided close to the reception area. There is also a small bar.

This was the last of 5 hotels we stayed in on an 8 night tour round the area. I wanted it to be the best and it didn't disappoint. It's a 2 minute walk from the railway station and perhaps 10 minutes from the water and the old town. We were well received at check in by charming staff. Our room was excellent. Breakfast was great although on the 1st morning we were unlucky to arrive the same time as a large group of ‘locusts.'(a party of guests who all knew each other and devastated the supplies) The breakfast includes oysters and champagne but also nuts, seeds and dried fruit. My only criticism on the days we were there was that the hot dishes were not hot enough. We did point this out to a member of staff and we hope this will be rectified for future guests. Strangely La Rochelle has no airport bus on a Sunday, but the reception staff were diligent in ordering us a taxi from a trusted partner. Highly recommended.

Best Western hotels almost always offer an excellent combination of quality, individuality and value, and that applies to the Masq. The immediate surroundings of the hotel are a bit drab, but the neighborhood appears safe and they are a comfortable walk to the harbor and the old town as promised. Even closer to the main train station. We appreciated their secure underground parking garage, albeit it was quite tight for a full sized car. The hotel staff is cordial and they have most of the amenities you expect in a business hotel. The "executive" rooms are quite spacious. The bed is exceptionally comfortable. Three design flaws we found quite annoying. While the bathroom is fairly spacious and clean, track lighting in the ceiling creates a twilight effect at the sink. Who wants to shave or put on makeup in such dim illumination? While on the subject of the bathroom, be sure to leave the outside door open when using the shower. The ceiling exhaust fan is inadequate to keep the steam from clouding the mirror. While we appreciate that the clothes rack is mounted high enough to hang long coats and dresses, the positioning in a corner and perpendicular to the wall means that the hangars in the back are very awkward to access. Finally, the amount of lighting in the bedroom is marginal. During the day, opening the curtains proved adequate. With the curtains closed, again the lighting is pretty murky. Overall, a pleasant hotel with a convenient location and a good price/value. We would be happy to stay here again. Generally, I would agree that the breakfast is better than average, but on two mornings the scrambled eggs were sitting too long and were not very appetizing. While the cheeses, conserves, yogurt were all artisanal, the breads were not of the same quality.

Loved our stay at this Best Western Hotel. Friendly team, good location, very comfortable beds, choice of pillows, very nice room with tea/coffee facilities and last but not least....the most amazing breakfast of local & organic produce, homemade baking, free range eggs, lots of healthy items as nuts, seeds, fresh fruits & juices, jams, nut butters and sunflower honey (yummy) yoghurts, bacon eggs, hams, cheeses and lots more! Lucky it was my Birthday, we got a glass of champagne to celebrate for breakfast! We had such a lovely stay, Thank you, we'll be back!

If you are looking for a place to stay in the Charente-Maritime province area, stay in La Rochelle, 3 minute walk from the TGV station, 5 minute walk to the old port, bars and restaurants and about 10 minute walk to the old city.

I made my reservation using Best western masq hotel online reesrvation center They promised special offer breakfast free value 17 euros person which was a lot of value. When we arrived they offered me a small room which I could not accept and also they claimed that it does not include 34 euro breakfast for two.I could not get reimbursement so I started to talk about suitet. That was supposed to be 85 euros more. We driven from Spain for 8 hours so I accepted deal lousy deal. When we went in the morning for breakfast.breakfast table was empty.No bread, no croissants no hot buffet, no plates no forks no knives and rotten fruit and no personnel at the breakfast room.It took half an hour to get something served. internet system was failing all the time. Even this so alled suite was dirty and warn. In the hallways customerds had to turn lights manually on and many dis not no how to do. Elevator card from garage did not work and they were drilling in rhe evening to do some restoration work I will guarantee that i will never go back to be cheated. It was supposed to a 4 star hotel which is located in a slum

BW Masqhotel is ideally situated close to the railway station (2-3 minutes walk), to the old harbour in La Rochelle (5 minutes walk) and the city centre (10 minutes walk).I had a very good room, with a wonderful and comfortable bed. The room was spacious and well furnished. Insulation from outside noise was not perfect, but the area is quiet.The bathroom was also very good, with a spacious shower.Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was outstanding, with a lot of choices and several local products (there were even oysters for breakfast!). I also liked the idea of having honey from beehives kept on the top of the hotel!

This is the second time this year I was staying in this hotel. The hotel continues to please with its excellent services, friendliness of staff, cleanliness of rooms. Rich breakfasts with fresh salmon, oysters, champaign, variety of good cheeses to please any taste, freshly squeezed juice (carrots, oranges, other fruits of your choice), good coffee. Location is great - in the old city, but not too close to the touristic noise. Easy to catch 7 o'clock morning train, as breakfast starts at 6:30 and the railway station is 3 min walking distance from the hotel.

This a great modern hotel with well designed rooms and parking in the basement. Modern air conditioning system. Breakfast was by far the best of our whole trip with an extensive selection including oysters, smoked salmon and poached eggs ! It's only a 10 minute walk to the port area with all the bars and restaurants, Cannot recommend highly enough.

Some neat design touches from fixed steel bedside tables to a very clever clothes rail maximised the use of space. Clean hotel, with modern and interesting decor. The exposed air conditioning trunking and mood lighting add to the flavour. Our room was roomy enough for a three night stay, but any longer and I'm sure we'd start to feel a little cramped. Cannot fault the facilities. We were welcomed by very helpful staff. Although their cocktail making prowess could be improved. Location is better than we first thought, and although it's not in the authentic 'old port' it's just a 5 minute walk to the first row of cafés.

My wife and I drove to La Rochelle on 04.10.18 and tried to book in this Hotel for a couple of nights - it was full on the first night as were many others in the area. There was an event or conference on in the area it seems, so we set off towards the Mercure Hotel that is located on the marina - we had stayed there about 15 years ago and we were not very keen on doing so again - however we managed to get a room there at a rather hefty price but I will post my review on their thread. Now back to this Best Western Hotel, we booked in on the 5th October early, and we were able to leave our car there without charge until our check-in time, which was a bonus - the staff were first class. We returned around two in the afternoon and were very pleased to open the door to a modern clean room. After a relaxing half hour we ventured out again and returned much later that night after a nice meal in the town. We slept in peace on a comfortable bed, after the usual shower etc, we ventured down to breakfast - it was first class - nice surroundings, a good selection of food and nicely presented. All in all fair value. As others have said, it is well located, it is smart, clean and the staff are first class - all spoke perfect English - as we are the lazy ones that expect others to converse in English as our accents are terrible. We would recommend this Hotel without question.

I strongly recommend this hotel. It is well located, very close to the train station, to the old port and to the aquarium. The staff is very nice and professional. The room is big, comfortable and the bathroom is well equipped. I also appreciated the room service.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay at this cute little back street hotel. Close enough for a short stroll to the port but far away from any noise. First impression was that staff were exceptionally polite, accommodating and highly professional. Hotel room was good, with a comfy queen bed. I particularly liked the cute little touches,such as jars of sweets on the tables in the hotel bar and a water dispenser with fruit in it near the reception. If you like a good selection for breakfast then you will LOVE the Masqhotel. A delicious, most varied spread of culinary delights from oysters, right through to vanilla cheesecake and scrummy sausages, bacon, omelette and scrambled eggs somewhere in the middle. Plus a great selection of pure juices and smoothies. The list is endless!! And to top it off champagne! Or white wine even. Marvellous breakfast and such good value at 15 euros. Well done to Oliver too who provided great bar service to us and was very helpful with the wine selection. The wine is served at the perfect temperature through a machine. Not too bad prices for a hotel. I am awarding this hotel my first 5 star on TripAdvisor as I think it is highly deserved. I will be returning to this superb hotel. Good value for money, great staff and breakfast to die for. Thanks Great Western, please keep up the good work!

This is a super hotel, located in a quiet back street just minutes flat walk along to the old town and harbour - smart, chic hotel - very professional staff - comfortable rooms even had English-style 3 pin electric wall plug sockets - the restaurant is supposed to be extremely good, but we ate out each night at the many nearby restaurants. Secure underground parking is excellent, but space is limited, so I wouldn't want to be parking a big 4x4 down there, as spaces are tight !! Highly recommended and certainly not over-expensive !

Stayed here for two nights in March after booking a last minute couple's weekend away. Lovely hotel for the price, rooms were incredibly clean, modern and airy. The entire hotel was spotless in fact and the staff were polite and very helpful when we needed a taxi back to the airport. It's only about 5-10 minutes walk from the port and center of La Rochelle and yet it felt very quiet in the immediate area (though that may have been due to us visiting in the off season). About 2 minutes from the station, but no noticeable noise from trains. Breakfast was great value with an excellent continental and cooked buffet (with champagne included) for 15 Euro a head. Overall a top hotel with a very modern interior and friendly staff.

This hotel was easy to find and with secure underground parking it was an ideal choice for us. 10 minutes walking to the town with lots of bars and restaurants. I wish we had hired a push bike to get round La Rochelle as ther was so much to see. La Rochelle is amazing beaches to chill on, history to see stunning place.

Lovely hotel. 4 plus stars. Very friendly and helpful staff. Light, airy and very clean rooms. Just a couple of minutes walk from the Railway station. Secure parking for 8 euros a day (extremely good value). Good location for all amenities but very quiet. Just a few minutes walk to get to a host of restaurants. Fish dishes a speciality (Moules are superb). cycles can be hired to help you get around, also quad cycles for the family.

Reception staff very professional and spoke very good English. Secure car parking, every where was very clean and modern. Room a nice size with tea and coffee, free safe and English plug sockets. Short walk to harbour, bars and restaurants. Enjoyed the free jelly sweets in reception. Small minor was base of bath very slippy after showering. Will be booking again

We drove to La Rochelle after booking the hotel days earlier by phone which went well. Arriving we parked & checked in succesfully with the efficient reception. After unpacking things started to go wrong in the room. In room safe wouldn't open and TV was faulty. Reception tried very hard to fix but we're unsuccessful on both but said they would get the maintenance tech to look at it. Dont know if that happened but it never got fixed before we left which was dissapointing. Our first breakfast at €15 each was excellent with great customer service from the restaurant manager. Breakfast the next morning was the opposite with me having to knock on the kitchen door many times to get food topped up, some cutlery, drinks as the machine had packed up, and bread for toast. This was due to a different restaurant manager who spent all her time talking to staff in the kitchen. Needs sorting asap Going back in a few weeks to check it out. Watch this space

Did not expect much but was pleasantly surprised. Hotel was spotless. Room was clean & very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic & plentiful, catering for all tastes. Ideal position for sea front & harbour. Plenty of eating places near by. Parking car was easy and safe in hotel car park. Woold definitely stay again if in that area.

Lovely hotel with very good breakfast. Underground parking is available though only bookable with Best Western. Make sure to book as there are not many places. Also the places are very tight so be careful. Receptionists were not very helpful and actually quite rude on occasion. Breakfast was good and very varied and plentiful though breakfast room was quite small so often very full and a queue. Very good as a base to explore La Rochelle as clean and quiet.

We chose this Hotel as it was within walking distance of the town/ harbour, and so glad that we did. It is a lovely, modern Hotel, great reception staff, and bright, airy rooms. The breakfast is outstanding, so much choice, including champagne, hot and cold food, such variety. We loved the short walk into Town, so easy, and spent three lovely days exploring the Town. We would reccomend this Hotel, and would definetly book again if in the area.

Stayed over one night on our way south. Modern hotel, really spacious rooms and great bathroom. The breakfast buffet was excellent smoked salmon oysters sparkling wine what more could you ask for. A quick mention for La Rochelle what a lovely city wish we had more time to explore. Hotel had parking in site.

We stayed for two nights with our pet dog and were impressed with the overall quality and location of the accommodation /hotel. It is situated very close to the main port and a whole host of restaurants, bars and ice cream parlours, you will be spoilt for choice and I don't think you would need to book as their are so many. The hotel breakfast was exemplary considering the dining area was so small, the choice was varied and whatever your breakfast preference was they seemed to cater for it.

Cool design, good quiet location but still central. Train station and waterfront restaurant area 5 min walk away. Breakfast is a must, an amazing selection of fresh pastries, crepes, waffles etc. Also cereals, fruits, juices and smoothies. There's a hot food selection of eggs, sausage and bacon. Champagne and wine is also available if you wanted. Reception staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel has a car park whilst we didn't use it, it looked secure. If we return to La Rochelle we would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for a night en route from Spain to Calais, picked it off the internet and got a pre-booked deal through Hotels.com. We arrived mid-afternoon on a beautiful day in April, were made to feel welcome, parked our car and went to our room which was their least expensive category. The room was excellent, the wi-fi worked, the kettle worked, the bed was comfortable, the neighbourhood was quiet. The hotel was near enough to the port area for us to take a late afternoon stroll around the town, go back to the hotel, change and go back into town for dinner. Breakfast was all-encompassing and of excellent quality. The hotel, judging from the plate in the lift (!) was probably built c.2005. The manager reckons it's due for a "smarten-up" but we saw no evidence of any need for that. It was smart and stylish and it was immaculately clean. We paid slightly more than half the official room rate listed, that made it terrific value for money but, even at the full rate, I'd have to say it's a pretty good hotel. Would we stay again? Absolutely yes!!

Right from check in to the time we left our experience was underwhelming to say the least. We did arrive early for check in and did not expect that our room would be ready but the attitude of the front counter staff was just downright surly. When left our bags and returned later where we were able to access our room. We booked a King size room and this is supposed to be a four star hotel, but by comparison to other 4 star hotels the room is quite stark and the service just wasn't there. For a start there is no fridge in the room and when I enquired at the front desk, I was told that none of the rooms had a fridge and it is on their website. I couldn't find it. They will however store items in their bar fridge though this really isn't convenient. There is no wardrobe, just a place to hang coats. There is no shampoo or conditioner, just those hideous soap containers on the wall. The shower is located in a high bath, but it does have a handrail to haul yourself into the bath, a huge disadvantage for older guests. The air conditioning in our room was very noisy when it kept kicking in but when I enquired at the front desk, they checked it and said it was ok - it wasn't and made it hard to sleep. The internet dropped out at least 10 times on our first day and connection was slow, the second day it went down altogether for approximately 24 hrs and while there was an apology for the inconvenience when we enquired on how restoration of services was going, that was it. At one stage we even lost electricity, however this was only for a short time. On the plus side the hotel is a few minutes walk from the railway station, but just under 10 minutes walk from the city centre. The hotel staff, in my opinion, did little to make us feel welcome. Whilst the hotel is new I give it a fail.

Great position, within walking distance of the train station and Town and the Marina. It was clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary bottles of water. Bathroom and toiletries provided were good. It was a quiet hotel with good free Wi Fi and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't try breakfast as ate out so cannot comment, but certainly good choice and would use again if returning.

We booked a random stay online when we were driving from southern France up to Amboise. Had a few spare days and jagged 2 nice rooms at a reasonable price. Great bar for a pre dinner drink and nice waiter service as we sat in the lounge area each night. Many good restaurants nearby and very close to the famous aquarium. Beautiful harbour and great walking paths around the city.

We stayed here to break the journey from France to Spain. It's a bit off the beaten track but was a good experience. Rooms are lovely and clean. Unfortunately they don't serve evening meals but the buffet breakfast was amazing. There was salmon, oysters, bacon, sausage, all the hams, cheeses, pastry etc as well as champagne. Very good friendly staff who keep everything topped up regularly.

Chose this hotel via the tour group organising the weekend as our stay whilst visiting La Rochelle in order to support Wasps as they played La Rochelle on the Sunday. Hotel was superb. Double room was great and the bathroom spot on. But the highlight ... the buffet continental breakfast. OMG absolutely the best we've ever had, anywhere. So much choice and regularly stocked up which was needed as all us supporters descended from 9am on! Staff were excellent throughout. We'd certainly stay here again.

The hotel is located next at the edge of the very heart of La Rochelle - 200m away from the "busy" part of the city and only 100m away from a green area with vegetation and waterfront. Rooms feature complementary tea/coffee and still water and electric water kettle. Breakfast is exceptionally good, with fresh salmon, oysters, champaign and lots of local delicacies (cheeses, jams, fruits). Good for both short term and longer term stays!

The room was very modern all with amenities , very comfortable bed although room was hot and difficult to cool down. Told next day that can be controlled by reception, something to be aware of. Breakfast amazing - champagne , oysters as well as usual and other unusual fare.

This has a lot going for it: great location, lovely staff, good -sized rooms, parking, and notably good breakfast buffet. The mood is contemporary, with attention paid to environmental concerns. Nice bed linen and good big towels. My only reservation is that that shower screen ( in our room anyway) leaked so we had to shower cautiously to avoid a flood. That wouldn't stop me coming back.

We stayed three nights in October. We easily walked to it from the stately old train station. It is modern, clean, and has a wonderful "petit dejeuner" (breakfast) -- by far the best breakfast of the five hotels we stayed in on this trip. It also was an easy walk to numerous restaurants and the sights of the Old Port area. Our room was on the street side but did not seem noisy at night, especially with the window closed. We were very pleased with our stay here and would recommend it, and the Old Port area in general, to all.

We intended to stay at the Masqhotel in La Rochelle for 3 nights, but had such a lovely experience that we stayed for another 3 nights. Our room was modern and very comfortable. The parking is convenient.The breakfast was delicious, extensive and served in a pleasant dining room. But of all this, it is the staff that make this hotel so memorable. Every staff member we encountered was both friendly AND helpful. They offered excellent service and helpful advice. Of special note is Nassma who works at the front desk. She is a model of professionalism. She was patient when answering questions and her kind and efficient manner made it a pleasure to go to her for assistance. She is a star within an excellent staff. For anyone lucky enough to visit La Rochelle, we would highly recommend the Masquotel Best Western.

A modern clean hotel in a quiet location with helpful reception staff. At breakfast for the first morning there was not any bacon and on the second morning no sausages. After that breakfast seemed better organised. We do not walk that fast and the start of the port is about 10 minutes away and the restaurants and old town on the far side where we ate is about twenty minutes walk. There is an excellent selection of restaurants and the food was good. Just 5 minutes walk to the train station but beware, the queue for tickets at the station takes 20-30 minutes so leave plenty of time. There are automatic ticket machines if you are confident to use them. The trains are punctual and clean. Overall a very nice few days holiday.

Very good hotel within easy walking distance of the town, decent size rooms with good bathroom, reasonable priced breakfast well worth the €13 for the buffet selection supplied,If you are driving would recommend pre booking a space at the underground hotel car park as street parking is busy and needs paying every day would certainly book to stay here again and highly recommend to anyone thinking about it. Train station 2 mins walk from hotel, bikes can be hired at the hotel and the beach path ride is fantastic.

great hotel clean, friendly ,good location, helpful staff but the breakfast was cold even the egg bacon that should be hot ??? and when complained said they would look into it but offered no discount and there were 7 of us at 13 euros so disappointed.

Stayed here for 4 nights last week based on proximity to Station. Very impressed with this hotel as a base. Very helpful reception staff who spoke excellent English ( if you needed it) and were always charming. Modern rooms perfect for travelling with teenage children who demand sockets everywhere to charge all their gadgets. Bathrooms very clean and modern, however the shower was over the bath which was quite deep, so gettting in and out for a shower could be a bit perilous . Beware! Very well situated for exploring the town and further afield. No restaurant and the bar area is rather dead in the evening, so don't expect to spend your evening there unless you want a very quiet drink! However, would definitely use this hotel again I'd in La Rochelle.

Excellent hotel. It is within easy walking distance of the train station and is also close to the town center. We stayed for two nights at the end of June, 2017. The hotel is very clean and modern. Breakfast was included in our rate and was quite good. There are some nice sights to see in La Rochelle including the aquarium. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at this hotel again upon a return to La Rochelle!

This is a very good tourist style hotel. Within easy walking distance to the town center but far enough away from the nose of late night venues. The rooms are very clean, modern and functional, especially the bathroom. The Receptionists are most helpful regarding the local area and any extras needed for your room. There is a small dining room that serves breakfast, also a nice cocktail bar in the Receprion area.

We stayed here two nights in July on a mini-tour around France. The hotel is easy to get to, in a quiet part of town just south of the port area. It is just 5 minutes walk to the tourist office, but we found ourselves walking onwards around the basin as all the restaurants we ate in were on the other side of the port. The hotel car park is really good - easy access and large bays; most unlike most French car parks! The rooms are spacious clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was recently decorated, with all in working order. Sadly, there are soap dispensers on the wall rather than little bottles, which I really hate. The bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning unobtrusive, so we slept quite well both nights. The pillows were not great, but just passable. We did not eat breakfast, so I cannot comment on the food. The staff were very pleasant and efficient at checking/checkout. This is a good hotel, which loses its 5th star for the bathroom soap dispensers - if this does not bother you the. Consider it 5 stars!

Very good hotel.Clean and comfy. Friendly reception staff.Good underground car parking.It was extremely hot when we visited and we would have appreciated a taxi to our restaurant quite a way off but sadly no taxis round there. Breakfast OK and they do have oysters and champagne but one day the food wasn't replenished the other day it was.

This was my second visit to this wonderful hotel and I owe my good fortune to all the Trip Advisor reviews that guided my selection. The hotel location is excellent, a 5 minute walk to the SNCF train station convenient to your arrival and bus to the Ile de Re. It is also a five minute walk to the tourist center which is a stop to make just to see, and a beautiful 10 minute walk to the old port. The staff is very efficient and makes wonderful recommendations of where to go, eat, etc. But I think the breakfast was the hi point. For just a few more euros than an express breakfast at a cafe, I dined on freshly squeezed orange juice that I pressed myself, mixed with champagne I made the most delicious Mimosas ever. I had oysters and gravlax as well as the usual assortment of meats cheeses, crêpes and viennoiseries. In La Rochelle, its all about the oysters, fresh from the sea, from the Ile De Re. I highly recommend this hotel to you.

This is a fairly modern hotel and done in the minimalist way. The result is rooms that are fairly sparse but sleek and efficient. The hotel was clean and the service friendly. Breakfast was not bad, good if you like oysters, with a limited range but kept stocked and good quality. Reception staff very helpful at giving advice. The location is quiet but only a 10 min or so walk to the town centre where there are plenty of places to eat in the evening. The hotel has parking but it is limited and recommended you ask for a space when you book

This is a clean, spacious and modern hotel. The staff are friendly and the rooms a good size. There is secure underground parking with reasonable sized spaces at €8 a night. We had breakfast once. It's the same as any other hotel with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and a selection of bread, meats and cereals. It was OK but at €13 a bit on the high side. It's a good location for both the station and the town centre with only a 10 minute walk to the historic port. A good base to explore La Rochelle.

There's so much to like abut this hotel. The first aspect was the very warm and friendly welcome by the two guys on reception desk. That's always a good start! We had a query at the beginning which they dealt with in a timely manner with absolute professionalism. The senior management must be pleased to have such great staff. The hotel is up a side street but only a few minutes walk from the main hub of La Rochelle. There was a secure underground car park (although sadly this incurred extra cost of 8 Euros a day) But it was secure and great to keep the car out of the hot sun. This seems to be a new hotel. It is in such a great location and the price we paid was good value for the area. Its very very quiet yet very close proximity to all busy areas of La Rochelle. The room was spotlessly clean and I would say exceptional. There are excellent housekeeping staff who deserve high praise for their attention to detail. This hotel seems fresh and new. All aspects are new with modern pristine furnishings and a bright comfortable environment. The heating and air conditioning is easily controllable and the TV large with a few English speaking channels. The wifi is a bit of a pain. It has an excellent consistently strong signal in the room. However as most people have more than one device you will need more than one email account because when you try to use it on your phone as well as your computer it automatically logs you off one to allow you to log on to the other device. That means delay and not being able to use both devices on wifi at the same time. So you need to use separate email addresses for each wifi link. Further to this each time you leave the hotel and come back you have to log back in with each device where it should really just recognise you and do it automatically as it does normally in most places. The bed is firm but comfortable. The shower is in a bath and the bath is also raised which requires a little bit of gymnastics to navigate into.....and out of! This may not suit less mobile people. The shower head is on the side meaning the area of water flow is limited in space side on. Water flow is fine and temperature easy to adjust. Lots of room lamps and power points and even a UK power point! That is a great and unexpected detail. So helpful. Overall we were very very happy with this hotel and only the wifi password issue, raised high sided bath access for shower and being charged to park knocked it down from five to four stars but not enough to knock it down to three as it is very much better than average and we believe good/excellent. We personally liked it very much and will definitely return without a moments hesitation. We recommend it to you with confidence.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Masqhotel. We enjoyed Excellent breakfasts with daily regional treats. Our room was quiet and the housekeeping standards of cleaning are outstanding. Well fitted bathrooms with full sized baths. In room coffee and tea making facilities were very welcome. Our request for non allergenic bedding was adhered to stringently. The only slight fly in the ointment was that on arrival and for a couple of days afterwards, the room smelt heavily of cigarette smoke despite being clearly signed as a non smoking floor. Would suggest a room airing protocol for those rooms used by guests that cannot read the signs or be parted from their Gaulloises ! Otherwise the location is quiet but 2 minutes from the station for buses to Ile de Re and trains along the coast. A five minute walk for the old port and restaurants. The hotels taxi service uses cars which are very clean and the drivers considerate. The reception staff were all very helpful.

We chose the Best Western Masqhotel after reading other peoples reviews of it and boy what a find. The hotel is in a side street just of the main duel carriage way into La Rochelle and vertualy right opposite the other side of the carriage way is the Railway Station, so if your traveling by train its just perfect a 5 minute walk at the most. Well we were traveling as usual on our Motorcyle and we were looking for a hotel with parking preferably under cover, in La Rochelle for the week. There are many hotels but not many with parking let alone secure covered parking but the Best Western Masq has underground parking with a security gate which was just purfect for our need. We arrived late afternoon and were met by Pierre on the desk a happy smiling face and a guy that is so helpfull and informative he just makes your stay even better. Pierre checked us in and we had room 221 overlooking the street. The Hotel was built 10 years ago and is very modern inside it is one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in, clean, bright, and very very quiet. My wife and I had the best nights sleep the whole of our holiday just so quiet me being 67 I now need a good nights sleep to get me going the next day. The breakfast is the usual french help yourself to what you want which suits us just fine there was a vast range of breads, eggs, hot food yoghurts fruit meat etc etc, plus the usual fruit juce and coffee and you can eat as much or as little as you want in a nice modern surround. The lift in the Hotel goes to all the floors and also down to the underground car park which is a bonus when carrying luggage from your car or bike. There is a bar and a very modern lounge seating area and all the tables have sweet jars on them which are always topped up every so often. There is a kettle in the room and coffee replenished every day along with a bottle of drinking water which was a bonus if you want a cool drink in the night. The rooms are air conditioned and we needed it on as it was very warm the week we were there, the rooms are of a good size and have a small safe for your valuables etc while staying there. The staff are the most pleasant and helpfull that we have come across in our stays in france Pierre and Philipe and the girls on the desk go the extra mile to help you enjoy your stay at the hotel and are a credit to the Best Western chain of Hotels. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk into the centre of La Rochelle and the marina so the location is just perfect as there are plenty of good quality bars/cafes/resturants to eat at and drink. We had a great stay here and without a hesitation will book it again the next time we holiday in La Rochelle it was perfect in every respect.

Stayed for two nights and had an amazing time. The staff gave me such a warm and friendly welcome and they were so efficient in booking us in. A really prompt service. All of the staff we met were so professional and impeccably dressed. The hotel room was beautifully decorated really modern and I loved the little touches of providing British socket point a really clever idea. The bed was so comfortable. Toiletries and towels first class. The private parking excellent. I have stayed in a few best westerns along my travel routes and am never disappointed you always know you'll be treated well and this was even more so in La Rochelle. Great location. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Had an absolutely fantastic stay. Check in was smooth, and Pierre the receptionist did his outmost to help us throughout our stay. The location is great, a longer, but not exhausting walk from the bus stop, however the train station is just few minutes away. The hotel is modern and clean, with a nice lobby to have some drinks.

Room was bigger than the average hotel room (stayed at another Best Western just before going to La Rochelle). The rooms here are modern and facilities are good. Also tried their "light meal" (room service) for one night for 16 euros - wasn't bad at all. They have 3-4 choices for the starter (all soups) and main course. Actually it does feel a little like in-flight food service (e.g. canned soup taste and the main course was probably just reheated) but what can you expect. I was satisfied enough as it was a cold and rainy evening! All staff at the hotel were really friendly. I also purchased the aquarium ticket from the reception (although end up there was no queue at the aquarium anyway as it's low season) but it's good that the hotel has such service. Location is also good - within 5 minutes from the aquarium and the train station. The bus that goes to Ile de Re begins from the train station also, so everything was very convenient.There's also a small Carrefour City a few minutes away if you need water and fruits.

Stayed here along with Gloucester rugby supporters for two nights. Staff very friendly room very comfortable & champagne breakfast well presented. Well situated for easy access to the harbour front & the multitude of bars & restaurants in the beautiful city of La rochelle

We come here the sleeping beautiful french seashore town for a week to attend Ocean Conference. This morning I was in my room ,the living room. Maid came to clean, when she left, I ask her where is my daily 2 bottles water supply? She took me to the bedroom closet and show me under my clothes I've kept water bottle there. I was in total shock! So she deny my daily water supply to my room. I felt so violated, Do you see what's wrong here? What about privacy? Personal space? Dignity. They all gone because some waters OMG! Am I too sensitive? I sincerely hope not.

This is a great hotel, the room was really spacious, clean and a very comfortable bed. It was good to see there was plenty of places to plug my phone, computer etc. The breakfast was good and fresh, friendly receptionists and bar staff. My second visit and I am still very impressed and will definitely return.

This is a pleasant modern hotel and we got good service from reception and room staff. But it lacks character and the location, although close to the station and the centre, is amongst offices and businesses rather than other hotels or even residences. It felt a bit Travel Inn and there was a corporate party from Ikea whilst we were there, which added to the feel, We chose not to pay 13 euros each for breakfast and found it nicer to get a coffee and pain au raisin nearby, on the way to wherever we were going that day. That meant that we didn't interact with anyone in the hotel apart from reception, making it harder to feel at home there. The room was fine, wifi was good if you registered and it is only a short walk anywhere. But we loved La Rochelle and I doubt if we would come back here again. If you want a good quality room in a quieter area, I wouldn't put anyone off from visiting,

We stayed here recently , second time to beautiful La Rochelle and think there's better hotel options , location is grand right near train station about a ten minute stroll into centre , rooms very small and poor wifi , not enough hot water to have a bath at night & in mornings water warm not hot , the most disappointing had to be the breakfast I don't know how they can charge 13€ for this per person , mostly sweet treats in my opinion better breakfast options outside the hotel , definitely wouldn't see how it is no. one on trip advisor possibly down to the lovely staff as they were extremely friendly & helpful but definitely better options out there for the price as was very expensive for our stay .

Having arrived by car from the UK we were pleased that we had booked a garage slot for our short holiday. Having been welcomed at reception, we were given the code for the garage and swiftly found a vacant slot, had the luggage on a trolley and we're back in reception where all was explained to us. We had booked a suite for a little more than a standard room. We were on the top floor with a balcony and views over the town. It is a15 minute walk to the Vieux Port where there are many restaurants and a bright lively atmosphere. Our second day was started with an excellent breakfast and a walk around the shops in the old town. Followed by lunch in our room and relaxation reading our books. Marlene on reception has been incredibly helpful and we are pleased to have come here's. Please note the hotel does NOT provide meals in the evening

I was in this hotel in 2012 on business and I must say that is a great hotel with fully equipped rooms, in a very nice city. Then I realized the 'inconvenience that the goalkeeper on the evening before departure is wrong to make me the bill (paid more) and in the morning a very beautiful blonde lady apologized dell' happened and I did the 'credit card on the difference paid for more ... I really do not, I can tell. For the price I think it is normal then it depends on the seasons is part of a well-known hotel hull. I advise.

The hotel has a very friendly and well trained, multicultural staff; all of whom are proficient in English. The hotel itself, is clean, comfortable, and quiet. It is well located, not far at all from the many wonderful pubs and restaurants nearby. For business, I have to believe this is a very good choice. Thank you.

I have never in all my years as a single traveler had a room upgrade so I was delighted as a first time guest making my reservation thru Best Western to have been upgraded. And when my trip fell apart because of the Air France strike I just dialed the 800 number and was re-scheduled with ease. I really can't praise the team of guest managers enough. They were just chock full of information and brochures about my day trip to Ile de Re. The train station was only a five minute walk and its there that you catch the bus. I also arrived by train from Paris and returned to Paris and found the short walk with luggage very easy and I am 70. The walk to town was just as easy and fast. The room and bathroom was immaculate and I appreciated the espresso machine in the room.. I would unequivocally recommend this hotel to all. Je vous remercie pour votre gentilesse et patience. A bientôt.

Everything you can need. Very comfortable and quiet. Excellent breakfast. Free Wifi. Arrival welcome, at end of a long day, was as you would wish to find everywhere. Very pleasant 10 mins walk to centre. I left the safe open by mistake, and nothing was touched :):) Would happily stay again.

About a ten min walk from the port area and the old part of town, clean, modern (in case you are looking for something with a bit of history), room a good size with a large bathroom and good shower. Quiet. Attentive staff, language not an issue (we speak only english). Good internet. Good breakfast. You need to be aware that they have limited car parking on site, and you need to reserve this when you book. If it is not available, car parking in nearby streets is okay, free all sunday but for ever other day of the week it will cost you about 6 - 7 euro I think for 24 hrs

Clean, comfortable with a few thoughtful touches. Good quality bathroom fittings and a kettle just edged this hotel into a better league. 3 English tv channels during the Olympics also were a pleasant surprise. Quiet peaceful and safe part of town. Expensive breakfast though...just avoid that and it's a great place to stay.

I took a short break with my teenage daughter in La Rochelle. The Masqhotel is situated in a quiet area of La Rochelle, but only a 6-7 minute walk from the Old Port. The hotel is modern and bright, airy (windows can be opened) and very clean. The buffet breakfast has plenty of good quality food to choose from and costs 13 euros per person. Wi-fi is free, and the TV has a selection of English TV channels. It really is a lovely hotel, and I hope to return in the near future.

A smart, modern, clean hotel located very close to the old port. Rooms are generously proportioned. Staff helpful. We paid extra for secure underground parking which was well worth it as in La Rochelle it is difficult to park. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but it looked fine. There is no dining in the evening at the hotel but since you are only a very short stroll from loads of lovely bars and restaurants this is no problem. The reception staff kindly gave us a tourist map and suggested the best road to go for a wide choice of high quality restaurants.

We booked the Masqhotel at short notice after changing our travel plans. We knew it would be the right choice as we had stayed here last year and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is just a short stroll from the old port and restaurants but it's located in a quiet street. There is secure parking on site which we used last year but this time there were no spaces which wasn't a problem as we easily found a space on the street across the road which we could see from our room and just had to pay a couple of euros as parking is free between 6pm and 8am. The staff are really friendly and helpful and speak good English. Our room and bathroom were spacious and modern with a walk in shower and even a fold down seat so great for anyone with limited mobility. Good fast wifi, satellite TV with BBC, radio/sound dock, efficient A/C and lovely comfortable bed. Absolutely nothing to find fault with and we would thoroughly recommend it as the nicest place to stay in this beautiful city.

Well located hotel only five minutes from old port . Our room was quiet , clean ,spacious and modern with very efficient air conditioning. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant so were the breakfast staff. Good value for money . The underground parking was very tight for wide cars and can get full so should be reserved in advance

Very good location, right near the main train station. The towers and shopping area are just a short walk away. Safe area, and the front desk personnel fluent in both French and English. Room was big and very comfortable

Good location approximately five minutes walk from the harbour and train station. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive Rooms were clean and modern. There is a nice air conditioned bar area to relax in and chill out. The breakfast was varied and catered for all tastes. Overall a great base to stay

Beautiful rooms and bathrooms. Staff on reception friendly and helpful with every query. Not great for breakfast - expensive for what one got. Close to station and La Rochelle centre. Quiet location. As it is close to the station, it was easy to get the tour bus to the Ile de Rey and get a taxi where necessary.

This looked like a characterless modern concrete box of a hotel when we first booked. Our choice was driven by its good reviews, good value, on site parking and central location a few minutes walk from the harbour so despite its looks. It turned out to be an excellent choice. We spent a little more on an executive double room which was large and very comfortable as was the bed. Breakfast buffet was very good and with a 6.30am start allowed us to make an early start travelling south by car to Spain the dayvwe left. Pleasant staff too. Only 5 minutes walk from the harbour . Would definitely use again if in the area.

We stayed here for one night - the hotel was very comfortable with a great bathroom! Could not fault breakfast - best (healthy) breakfast options that I've ever had in a French hotel! Would definitely recommend - close to harbour and great restaurants.

The hotel is either new or feels as though it has been recently refurbished. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and a slightly longer walk to the old town. Staff in hotel are helpful and welcoming and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Would be even better if the rooms came with a fridge and a slightly larger room safe.

This is a modern hotel with comfortable rooms. The staff are very helpful and spoke good english. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel is also well situated to see so much of what is good about La Rochelle.

Stayed for 5 nights here to attend the Sunnyside@TheDoc event and this hotel is very convenient. Located within walking distance to the main thoroughfare and also the train station. Room quality is superb with very comfortable bed! Breakfast selection is good. Love this hotel too as it provides a parking space in the basement for your bicycle, and bicycles are aplenty in La Rochelle, which you can hire.

A couple of streets away from the train station in a quiet street locatioon, but only a short 5 min walk to the harbour area, this hotel is spotlessly clean, functional with good wifi connection in the room, and very friendly helpful staff. I have no complaints about this hotel at all.

Superb modern hotel located just back from main harbour front. With loads a restaurants just a five minute walk away. Secure parking, quiet bedrooms, nice breakfast. A very enjoyable two nights spent here. Excellent bathroom with robes. English channels and also English sockets so no need for adapters.

Hotel is in within walking distance to the port, where there are several good restaurants, and at night it's all lit up. They serve a good breakfast included in the price of the room. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms a good size, although it's best to get your own soap, since they provide a plastic dispenser that sometimes it's hard to squeeze and get the soap to bathe.

Good location, good car park... The bar never had anyone in it, we had a suite, but it was massively overpriced for what it is. Breakfast was not included in the room rate which was a shock considering we paid €260 for the room per night. Would not go back here in a hurry.

Nice clean hotel, no character at all, minimalistic. Good location near city and very bright decoration. Pleasant staff, but the breakfast was very poor indeed, not worth the cost. We went in the middle of breakfast time and noted very few other people, maybe they knew already! very little on offer, overcooked and tough. Breakfast staff provided reluctant slow service.

We booked for four nights in this hotel because of its proximity to the train station. The service is great. The first day when we arrive, a gentleman (sorry we forgot the name) helped us with all sort of local suggestions and we are very grateful because he helped us to reserve a table at the Michelin two stars restaurant the next night (with short notice)! And we want to thank Lea and Karla who are very helpful in suggesting us where to go in Island de Re and D'oleran, and helping us book a wine tour in cognac ! The room are neat and clean and the area is safe and 10mins walk to the centre of city. Would suggest this hotel!

Location OK, room spacious but we were upgraded and the price of E231 a night was over the top. Breakfast was expensive at E13 per person so we had a super breakfast in the market square at less than half the price. Three of the U.K. TV channels did't work even after the technician "fixed it". The tea tray was a nice touch but not enough sachets for more than one drink each - no spoons on the second day and the water glasses not washed or replaced. The underground parking was a bonus but cost E8 a day. Receptionists friendly and spoke English.

The Masqhotel is well located close to the 'Old Port', the train station and numerous restaurants. It is modern with comfortable rooms and facilities. The staff is helpful and pleasant. The price was right.

Very comfortable , clean, modern hotel. Very helpful staff especially Franck at reception. Staff spoke very good English. I especially loved the little touches like a british electric socket alongside the european ones and the champagne at breakfast. Only very tiny complaint was not very warm tea at breakfast. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

We booked a suite which gave us plenty of room for the crib (happily provided) for our 6 month old daughter. The room was freshly appointed with a couch and upholstered sitting area with King bed. We highly recommend the breakfast taken either in the room or in the dining room. The staff were very helpful and the location of the hotel was perfect for us as it is near the rail station and the shops/restaurants in the port.

Stayed there for 3 nights in November 2015. The check-in was simple and all the receptionists I spoke to were able to speak good English. The room was modern, very clean and comfortable. The TV picked up several British channels which was good, including BBC and ITV. There is a control for the heating which was simple to use and effective. The bathroom was very modern and spotlessly clean. I found the bed to be very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurts, breads, scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon and sausages. The hotel has a small bar in the lobby, which seems to stay open until about 2am depending on demand from residents. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to nearby restaurants, bars and a small supermarket and about a 15 minute walk to the centre of La Rochelle and the main shopping centre. It is about a 3 minute walk to the main railway station.

Had a one night stay in October 2015. End of high season and was a great choice if you are driving to LaRochelle. Parking on site underground with direct access elevator. Clean bright with modern look. Large bathroom. Breakfast available on site and was fair price for typical European breakfast buffet. Short 5 minute walk to harbor area and aquarium on well lite streets. Front desk was very friendly.

Very polite staff who spoke really good English, for reasons unbeknown to me they gave me a free upgrade to an executive sweet which was fantastic with a super king size bed, spotlessly clean, quiet and had great facilities. The staff also gave us a simple map of the area and recommended restaurants etc and felt like they were interested and wanted us to enjoy our stay in La Rochelle. Less than 2 mins walk from the aquarium/harbour and has secure parking. I will definitely stay again next time I visit La Rochelle

We can't claim credit for finding this place ourselves as it was part of a tour on which we were. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and as other reviewers have mentioned, the champagne for mimosas was a nice touch. It was a short walk to the main part of time, a supermarket, the Aquarium, the harbor, and cafes.

Champagne at breakfast! Wow, plus many nice choices (yogurts, fruits, wonderful pastries, including good croissants). Stylish lobby, nice, but small, bar. The rooms were nice and spacious enough. Good toiletries. Very good location.

We booked this hotel as it's only a short walk into La Rochelle plus it has a car park which we were able to book beforehand. Excellent hotel, very helpful staff who spoke good English. Our room was clean and pleasant, reliable wifi throughout the hotel, breakfast plentiful. Recommended

We didn't quite know what to expect when we booked this hotel, but we were very impressed from the start when we were welcomed by friendly staff who spoke english. We used the hotel car park and as others have said it is a bit tight if you have a large car, but convenient all the same. Our room had a large bed, a lovely bathroom and was very comfortable. Breakfast was great with lots to choose from and a previous poster has said, even some champagne. The hotel is in a quiet area of La Rochelle near the station, but it is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and the port area. Overall we were very happy with this hotel and would highly recommend it.

- Localisation : next to the train station, within walking distance from every attraction. Quite complicated to reach from the airport carrying heavy luggage : I would advise a taxi. - Staff : friendly, helpful, and spoke various languages - Rooms : very clean, spacious, comfortable. Maybe slightly noisy, but mostly quiet during night time. We got upgraded to a larger room with a larger bed. - Breakfast : delicious. Lots of fresh and local products, and even some champagne !

This is a very nice and modern hotel. The room was very spacious with a balcony. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were a cycling group and the hotel provided us with a secure area to store our bicycles.

This location is excellent for walking around La Rochelle and the harbour. Its just over a 5 minute walk to the harbour but is far enough away so that's its very peaceful at night. We didn't have breakfast so I cannot comment on that or their level of English as I was with a fluent French speaker but they initially engaged in English so they must be pretty comfortable. Staff always smiled and greeted you when you passed them. Parking available onsite also. Our room was a suite with its own balcony overlooking the sea which really was an added bonus.

Classy hotel; great room with modern fittings and lots of space. Also a good location; handy for the old port and restaurants. Two snags: 1. Room 405 suffered from huge wind noise which seemed to emanate from the hotel interior. I mentioned this to the hotel staff who didn't seem to take it terribly seriously. 2. beware the underground car park; it's OK if you have a small car but if not then make sure you find a space that allows you to extricate yourself easily. It took me about 10 minutes of manoeuvring to get my largish car out.

Good location, walking distance to shops and restaurants but far enough away to be quiet at night. Large spacious rooms and bathrooms very clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good value if you book in advance. Beds have very firm mattress if you're not used to firm you won't like the beds. I found them comfortable. Ate at the hotel one evening. Not a restaurant but meal at the bar area, was pleasantly surprised.

Stayed in this hotel for the third time now and always have a wonderful relaxing time. Breakfast is recommended with a great choice of fresh produce and excellent service. The staff make your stay a home fr home and nothing is too much trouble, we love staying here and will be back again, highly recommend this hotel for your trip to La Rochelle.

relatively new hotel close to the old city center (10 min. walk). it's located on a side road with very little traffic. at night pretty quiet for a city location. clean and nice rooms with excellent WIFI. very good breakfast and service. good underground parking. price wise not the cheapest, but worth it. i would book it again.

The hotel is easy to find in a relatively quite road but close to the railway station & a very short walk away from the harbour area. We stayed for one week, the rooms are very modern, clean & a good size. All the staff were very pleasant & helpful. Breakfast was on a buffet basis costing €13 & had a good selection, we ate just twice at the hotel because we preferred to find a little street cafe where you could get fresh croissant , bread ,jam , fresh orange juice, a coffee of your choice, bacon & fried tomatoes for just €8 just a short walk away. I would definitely recommend this hotel & I almost forgot the air conditioning is great.

This was by far our best experience of a french Best Western hotel. Whilst I had originally reserved an "executive" room (direct with the hotel), the room we were given for our 5 night stay was in fact a suite - up on the fourth floor with its own large private balcony with views over the town. The accommodation consisted of a large bedroom with a separate seating area, large screen television with several british channels, a dressing room and private, fully equipped bathroom with bigger than standard bath and shower. The super-king size bed was particularly comfortable. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the centre which meant that the hotel was very quiet as we were not right in the thick of the town. The hotel has its own private (payable) parking and offers a great breakfast. The staff were all very courteous, polite and helpful

My partner and I booked a budget flight to La Rochelle and found the Masqhotel on Trip Advisor. Rates were reasonable and the twin room well-equipped and a good size, too. The trip from airport to hotel was 15 minutes (apprx €15, tho €20 on way back). Staff all spoke English and were very helpful indeed. Overall, a modern looking space, with some odd decorative touches! That said, it was quiet, comfortable and only a short walk from the harbour and the train station (important if you want to get the bus to Il De Re). Enjoyed the whole trip.

Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in La Rochelle. Everything was perfect - the room size, the soundproofing, the parking, the location, the staff. A big thank you to the team for giving us a lovely experience!

Recently stayed at this hotel on our way to Bordeaux. I was pleasantly surprised at how bright and clean the hotel is kept. They are very "green" conscious and it shows in the planning and colors. I was in room 121 and was concerned at first that it would be noisy being on the street side, but because the hotel is located away from the water and bustling activity, it was very quiet. The room was bright and cheery and received afternoon sun. The free wifi worked very well and free bottles of water and little cookies are provided. It is only a five minute walk to the center of town with all of the shops and cafes. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

We had a week at the hotel in August and it was very good, better than we thought it would be. The rooms are quite large, minimal and modern large tv screen with BBC programmes, lovely big windows which we opened and could feel the sunshine where we sat - this made up for not having a balcony. The rooms were quiet. Most of the time they were very well cleaned but there were a couple of occasion when the cleaning wasn't quite what it should be. We were in room 101. We didn't have breakfast as we thought at 13 euros it was expensive. There are lots of café were you can get a very good breakfast for half the price - try Le Cap Nath just round the corner from the hotel towards the main sites. We would stay at this hotel again.

Nice hotel located about 5 mins walk from tourist sites. Have the breakfast plan as it is reasonable priced. Hotel staff were able to direct us to nice restauants in the area. We stayed here one night travelling. Bathroom is very nice and bed was comfortable. Standard for Best Western and good value.

A bit of a stab in the dark booking this hotel but was pleasantly surprised. Very minimal and modern but not uncomfortable at all. It's a great distance from all the hubub of the Vieux Port. Near...

Stayed with my partner one night in August 2014. the hotel is nice and clean, well located (only 5-7 minutes walking from the old city and the old port). The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The room was modern and clean , the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was ok (13€) although I think some fresh vegetables won't hurt ..... there's only 1 elevator ... so you might finding yourself waiting... In general we enjoyed our stay here and I would definitely considering staying here again.
