Description

Special Protection, our commitment to ensuring a safe stay with strict cleaning and sanitization protocols. Technologies to support the interaction with the staff to promote social distancing. Protective equipment and safety procedures for staff and guests. The Best Western Hotel Moderno Verdi is housed within a beautiful historic building, which has been carefully renovated in the Liberty Style. This architectural style was so congenial to Genoa that the Florentine architect Gino Coppede spent a long time in the city to develop his own style taking inspiration from the Liberty and Art Deco Styles. The hotel design is characterized by elegance and attention to detail. The layout of the interiors and furnishings; the elegant fabrics and curtains; the exquisite burl wood paneling; and the clever play of indirect lighting; all combine to convey the warmth and hospitality of a private dwelling. The hotel is located close to the Genova Brignole Railway Station, the airport, and the International Fair. Reach the main theaters, the Palazzo Ducale, the aquarium, the convention center, the Porto Antico di Genova, the historic center, the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, and the motorway within a few minutes. The Bandaranaike International Airport is just eight kilometers away. Since December 2012, the new Genoa Brignole Metro Station, right next to the hotel, allows you to quickly travel to the main points of interest of the city. The hotel is the ideal starting point for a business trip or for tourism and culture. The professionalism and courtesy of our staff will make guests feel right at home. Each of the 87 well-appointed rooms are furnished with care and elegance and equipped with amenities like high-speed broadband access, mini-bar, electronic safe box, air-conditioning, LCD televisions with Mediaset Italia cinema and foreign satellite channels and Premium Calcio Football Coverage, a hair dryer, telephones in the room and the bathroom.

"Very Pleasant Staying"
Danilo D, 10 Février 2024

I was a guest at the Best Western Hotel Moderno Verdi for two nights and I had a very good time, both for the service and the location. I would strongly recommend the choice to anyone who wants to be in an elegant hotel that is very convenient to both transportation and points of interest in the city.

"No help upon arrival"
Compass470770, 30 Janvier 2024

We arrived with a car and a parking spot reserved. The hotel had no place to park/let idle a car upon arrival. There were no instructions sent out ahead of time about what to do with the car during check in. We got a 60 euro ticket parking for 2 minutes next to the hotel. The man at the front desk directed us to the parking garage and then, for whatever reason, did not open the door of the garage for us. We wondered if we were in the right spot because the door of the garage is not obvious until it's open. I had to call and go through the on hold message/music to ask him to open the garage door for us. He opened it and then closed it behind us. Then the only spot available could only be parked in with the door to the garage open. He finally opened it again. He mentioned at some point that he could see all of this on video, making me wonder even more while he didn't have it open when we pulled up. Anyway, the lack of information about what to do with a car at check in and the general incompetence of the man at the front desk made this a negative experience. The hotel room itself was clean and had all of the amenities advertised. Just watch out if you are arriving by car, I guess

"acceptable breakfast, faulty internet"
ydutta, 28 Janvier 2024

I was not the only one whose internet did not work. An older professor could not find their way around since they did not have a smartphone with data connection and maps will not load on their computer. What a shame. Breakfast was very unhealthy. Low quality of food. Not many vegan options.

"Great hotel, great staff"
t0nyder0sa, 18 Octobre 2023

Excellent hotel, close to the old city area and across the street from the Genova Brignole train station. Between the convenient location and the great staff, your stay will be a great one. Despite being across the street from the train station, the train traffic was not noticed and did not disturb my sleep.

"Great hotel near the train station"
Bazilu25, 18 Septembre 2023

If you're looking for a nice hotel near the train station, cannot get much better than this. Perfect location, clean, safe, and nice staff: (1) hotel is literally right across the the Genova Brignole train station. You come out of the train station, look right (west) and there it is; (2) Area is safe and easy to walk to some of the major sites as they aren't that far away; (3) Good breakfast for 8 € (wasn't included with our room). Well worth the money; (4) Room was clean, quiet, safe; and (5) Staff was great.

"An excellent place to stay in Genova"
MapperBob, 16 Août 2023

We loved its proximity to the bus depot, metro and Brignole train stain. It was an easy walk to attractions like the old city and we even walked to the downtown twice. The staff were very welcoming and professional. The buffet breakfast was excellent and great value, highly recommended.

"Super close to train station!"
dpalumbo25_gmail_com, 18 Juin 2023

If going to Genoa, this is a great place to be as it is directly outside the Brignole train station. Easy to get around as the metro is Free to use from 1000-1600 and 2000-2200. Do be aware this is not the Principal train station. Great restaurants all around. Short walk to MOG market . Best bed we had in Italy. Most were VERY frim, here the bed was soft and welcoming. Lots of pillows. Only down side was shower drain was slow and we flooded the bathroom the last day. They had this weird painted shower liner that was cracked but really didn't affect things other than how it looked. The breakfast was available and they had a lot of American style buffet as well as a mix of typical Italian breakfast. Great cappuccino. Also cute cafe right outside main door. < 7 euros for 2 cappuccinos and 3 pastries.

"A nice hotel right downown"
Gingerbreadjoe, 21 Septembre 2022

The rooms are not large but they are big enough. Excellent air conditioning. The bathroom and shower were nice. Only drawback is the television does not have many choices if you plan on watching a lot of TV. The front desk staff were all friendly, spoke English, and were accommodating. We had an early departure on our last day and they had a bagged breakfast waiting at the front desk at our 6am checkout. Breakfast buffet had many European and American choices and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in walking distance to the shopping district and the rail station is across the street. We will use this hotel next time we are in Genoa.

"Not a 4 star hotel"
tyronnej22, 25 Juillet 2022

stayed one night and felt hotel is below 4 star rating. Had an issue with shower. it was partly fixed during my stay. Location is great right opposite station and room was comfortable. Breakfast was ordinarily. I felt like over charged for room.

"Old world charm, perfectly located if you are travelling by train"
BaselLisa, 10 Février 2022

The contrast is surprising: you walk in from the hustle and bustle of the square in front of the railway station and into the calm of a gracious old hotel. The fragrance as you walk in is calming. Our welcome from the receptionist was perfunctory more than friendly. It wasn't even informative: we didn't find out where the lift was straight away and there was nothing about the location of the breakfast room or anything really. The reception area and historic lift and stairwell are all beautiful and have an old world charm. We were delighted by our large room (411) which was modern, clean and had all the mod cons. The WiFi is great. Our bed was extremely comfy and we slept well because it was dark and surprisingly quiet. The view was not nice but I think I prefer the quietness. Breakfast was a very good buffet served by very friendly staff. The only thing letting it down a tad is the plastic and paper cups used for coffees, juices and the suchlike. A good selection of food though. Great recommendation for restaurants from a much more friendly and helpful female receptionist on the second night. Stayed a third night because we were so happy with the hotel. Right next to the Brignole railway station, it is perfectly located if you are arriving by train and it is a good base for visiting local attractions such as Santa Margherita, Portofino, Cinqueterre. On our last day we asked if we could check out an hour later and this was no problem.

"Stay away from this hotel!!!!"
Lucyluna123, 12 Février 2020

Please skip this hotel if you see my comment or you want to be treated like trash!!! From now on... no more best western brand for me... been to a few best western hotel, Especially this one, disgusting receptionist attitude!!! Goodbye best western!!!

"Not a very pleasant stay"
Georgenmk, 03 Février 2020

1. There is literally zero sound insulation. You can hear the person in the room next to yours having shower, watching TV like he is in your room. You can even hear the alarm or the flushing from the room above. 2. There is no restaurant, hence there is no room service. 3. Breakfast is poor and cheap in terms of quantity and quality. If I would be in Genoa again I would not stay in this hotel.

"Hotel close to railway , buses and metro station"
Nuryhlo, 14 Janvier 2020

This hotel is close to the main transportation lines of Genova: Brignole train station, buses and metro . Also receptionist and staff are very kind and helpful. The only problems is the heated system is pretty hot in the winter time, so do not bring heavy pijamas since you'll sweat.

"Pre cruise hotell"
stephenmD7278MQ, 27 Décembre 2019

Hotel not too far from airport, an oldie world type of hotel very very clean rooms, free water, snacks in in mini bar, buffet breakfast very good pity there wasn't a main restaurant. K FC over the road ,plenty of restaurants when you turn right from the hotel .staff very friendly had a great stay

"Tiny room but comfortable"
malbi, 01 Décembre 2019

Conveniently located near a very nice shopping area, this hotel is comfortable. Despite the room was very small (approx 50 cm of space around a queen size bed), it was comfortable. Very quiet, very good quality of sleep. What I liked most and that to me is very high value are the complimentary mini bar and complimentary tea and coffee in the room. Yes, everything that you find in the mini bar is complimentary: water, sodas, snacks are completely free of charge. Bed is comfortable, room is clean, shower with strong regenerating pressure. Breakfast is good. Staff is nice. Again my room was very small, with a very very small wardrobe. It was enough for me because I was staying only two days spending very little time in the room. If I had to stay longer, the wardrobe would have not been be big enough accomodate clothes for more than two days and if I had to spend more time in the room I would have ended with becoming claustrophobic. I assume there are bigger rooms, so if you are two people or you need to stay longer than two days, reserve a bigger room or you won't fit in the room.

"Ok for one night business trip"
Albionnn, 22 Novembre 2019

Staff was very friendly and helpfull. The room was silent and comfortable but lights were a little dim. I had queen size bed, very comfortable and many amenities were available. Breakfast was ok, good choise but quality was just above average. The stay was money worth and suitable for an unscheduled business trip sleepover

"The worst hotel I've never been!"
Tizi122, 11 Novembre 2019

I stayed in that hotel for 3 nights. I booked a small double bedroom for 2 people. Actually it was a single room with a French bed. I complained about that and the receptionist told me that I requested a small room. That was true but I supposed that with " small room" they didn't mean a French bed. We couldn't slip well because of the size of the bed. I asked for a different room but they told me that he hotel was full booked. So, I paid for a double room and I slept in a single room. In addition in the bathroom there was only one towel, that means the room was for 1 person. I had to ask for one more towel. During my stay, they didn't change the towels and I had the same towels for 3 days. Is that hotel a 4 stars hotel? I really don't think so! I found also the stuff rude. They made a joke when I asked for a different room. In particular a receptionist named Federico proposed to me to visit the entire hotel to make me sure that the hotel was full. It was an inappropriate and offensive way. I can't recommend that hotel to anyone.

"Great Value , close to railway station"
Love2travel1706, 06 Novembre 2019

This hotel was perfect for our needs, good location across from Station (Brignole). Room was quite small but spotless. Nice modern bathroom with fab shower.. More towels than the 5 star hotel we were in previously. Not far to walk for decent restaurants and bars. Close to Mercato Oriental, worth a visit. Would definitely return.

"Value for money at this very comfortable hotel"
Glen G, 04 Juillet 2019

Terrific room, we had a newly renovated room and it was fabulous. Good breakfast. Lovely staff. A really nice atmosphere at this hotel. It was reasonably priced and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Great location. If you get the airport bus into town it is only a very short walk from the bus stop. Very close to shops and nice restaurants. Highly recommended.

"A Mixed Review"
DuhartToronto, 26 Mai 2019

The rooms were too cool at night. The temperature, as if often the case, is not adjustable. The Wifi reception was erratic. Marco, the night man, was great. His English was commendable. He was very helpful. The breakfast was good. The location adjacent to the train station and local restaurants, was good.

"HIdden Gem in Genoa"
DynaDude, 18 Avril 2019

This hotel is situated beside the Brignole train station so it's a perfect location for train travel. It is a short (15 min) walk to Piazza de Ferrari. While the front of the building is not very charming, once you enter the lobby you can see the high quality of the hotel. THe room was small but very nicely finished. The breakfast was great - lots of selection. Staff were great

"Delightful Stay"
larry87120, 07 Février 2019

BW Hotel Moderno Verdi was an excellent choice for our short 3 night stay. Excellent location across from the train station and walking distance to many of the sights as well as shopping and restaurants. The room was great even tho our view was very restricted. We had great service in the hotel restaurant for breakfast and dinner. I would highly recommend this hotel.

"Great location and modern room"
DrivingSoul, 07 Décembre 2018

Right across the street from the Genoa train station, easy walking distance even with your wheeled luggage. Big clean room, nice washroom with rain shower head, even give you slippers! Breakfast was suitable. There are some close restaurants within walking distance. We didn't venture out to the port area so I can't comment on how easy or difficult it is to get out that way.

"Two Night Stay"
Peter G, 27 Octobre 2018

A well appointed comfortable hotel right opposite to Genoa Brignole Station. A nice area to walk around with plenty of places to eat and sights to see. Easy check in if you have pre-booked on line. Helpful Staff.

"Great for short stay in genoa"
eee135, 22 Septembre 2018

Room was renovated, very spacious, comfortable and clean. It was a great location for us and conveniently located next to subway station and within walking distance of most attractions. We parked at the public parking lot at the train station (across the street) instead of at the hotel since the hotel said we would need to leave the parking at checkout time and we wanted to stay until the evening. We did not try the breakfast since it was not included in our price and there are so many restaurants/cafes in the area. Outside of building was a little rundown (like the whole city) but the room was a great respite.

"short break in Genoa"
Davidbeardsmore, 18 Septembre 2018

A well located friendly hotel offering every need to experienced travelers. Perhaps a shortage of tourist literature but front desk help always at hand. Dinner and breakfast were of good quality and value

"Good location for us "
pink_lizzie, 13 Septembre 2018

Stayed for one night, the hotel was in the perfect location for us; just across the road from Genova Brignole train station - very easy for us to get off the train with luggage. Good base for exploring the city, 5 mins to the shopping area. Hotel staff helpful and friendly. Room was a little old fashioned in decor and on the small side but adequate and clean. Small double bed but comfortable (if you like a firm bed). Bathroom was good, no bath just a shower (excellent shower!) big sink with complimentary products. The free drinks and snacks in the fridge was unexpected and a nice touch. Considering location, it was quiet in the night too.

"Old but stylish"
Lena T, 07 Septembre 2018

Old style hotel but clean and comfortable. We had difficulty locating it and then could not park to unload bags. We had to use the car park and the porter came down to assist. The service is good and the little sitting rooms in the foyer were very comfortable. The bar service was also very good. The rooms are comfortable abd clean and the bathrooms have a spa bath. Our bathroom was a little small with a shower in the spa. Yet our companions had a large bathroom with a seperate shower. Overall very good.

"Short stay, excellent bartender"
Dave_har988, 16 Août 2018

On our way back to England we stopped for one night in this Hotel. Really well located, a bit old but stylish. The best part of the hotel stay was the bartender, Marco's cocktail making skills made our Martinis experience one of the best ever. Though it was late and hotel's restaurant closed, he provided us some nibble and gave us tips for late dinner in the surrounding areas. Comfortable and clean room

"Great find "
Lucah100, 04 Août 2018

Didn't have many expectations as price was very low, but this is a really nice hotel, with great air con which is the main consideration this summer. Great marble bathroom with spa shower. Location is perfect about 10 Mins walk to the historic centre and just across from Brignole station. Make sure you use the old very elegant lift!

"Pretty ok"
itimultumesc, 10 Mai 2018

The cost of the room is not very small, so we had some expectations. The area and the entrance of the hotel are lovely and make you think it will be amazing. We booked a double small room, the room was ok, with all the amenities, very clean, very white sheets and towels. The key to the room worked only after several attempts. What dissapointed us a bit was breakfast. We got down at about 9 AM, but allmost all the real food was gone (omelette, ham, salami, cheese). It was like they never expected someone to come and eat, acted surprise and started gathering the empty trays in order to refill later. I really think they could have done much better, they had nothing traditionnal, Italian. Very poor. The gas water was in a non-sealed bottle, so most likely refilled many times, not very gassy. All in all a nice place, but could leave the price a little lower or improve some services.

"Nice hotel "
Deny M, 29 Décembre 2017

Nice and clean hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are tidy, but the size of the bed is too small.Maybe this is one of the reason that we didn't feel very comfortable.Everything else was very good. Will definitely recommend this hotel!

"Perfect Hotel at a great location"
Niel M, 17 Novembre 2017

Stayed in this hotel for a weeklong business trip to Genoa and I loved it. The room I booked had a queen size bed (very comfortable) with 4 choice of pillows (again very comfortable). The room size was very good. The bathroom was perfect. Service is awesome. Be it at the reception, or in the restaurant or in the bar - just lovely. I am definitely booking this hotel again if I go back to Genoa. Also if I go there for holidays.

"A return to a favorite hotel"
Goldig, 10 Novembre 2017

Our second time here and just as pleased with it. Maybe had the same room, very small on a back side street so very quiet. Nice bathroom with generous lotion and soaps. Good Wifi w/password. Still reasonably priced in a super location for Brignole station across the street ("Hop on Hop off' stop and airport bus) Still with old world charm, helpful front desk and great breakfast for only E4. Their cage elevator is a treasure (there is a second modern one for luggage). Nice lobby/lounge area with bar. Around the corner is the beginning of a street lined with shops, restaurants and eventually a side entrance to a big covered market. We'd certainly stay again.

"Comfortable stay at a reasonable rate"
Dale F, 28 Octobre 2017

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights - lots of pluses - conveniently located near Brignole Station, very comfortable bed, our room was very quiet, free mini bar included in our rate (no alcohol), helpful reception, good breakfast with plenty of variety. Only negative was the small poorly set out bathroom but we coped. It was a 15 minute walk to shopping strip and good restaurants and we felt very safe walking at night. Enjoyed our stay at Hotel Moderno Verdi and our stay in Genova and would recommend this hotel.

"Average, but close to train station"
Lina G, 25 Octobre 2017

The hotel is next to the main train station Room small, bathroom ok size The bed and pillows were hard and the A/C didn't work It was very noisy at night and we didn't sleep well , people shouting from a night out I think we paid additional 4 euros pp for breakfast but it was very good spread and we were pleasantly surprised

"Convenient for the train station"
TheMilkMan2000, 07 Octobre 2017

The hotel is conveniently located across the road from the train station. I found the hotel lobby small but very well decorated. They even have a small bar. The room was really noisy even on the sixth floor. You could hear the lift and people walking around above us. The A/C didn't work so we had the window open and it was really noisy outside. The bed was extremely hard and the room hot. The immediate area has few good restaurants. We did manage to find one in the end, just around the corner. Most of the action is 15 minutes away so you would need to walk through the dark narrow streets late at night if you want a better choose of restaurants. I would recommend to take a taxi but they are generally expensive in Italy and no Uber. The room was cheap in comparison to most 3 star hotels so I can't rate it poor overall but I wouldn't stay here again.

"Nice hotel near the train station"
Diane801, 30 Septembre 2017

Very nice room but not enough space for clothes, etc. Service is excellent. Hotel well maintained and modernized. The train station is across the street. Breakfast is good and the service is efficient.

"A very convienent hotel location"
KStulga1, 18 Septembre 2017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Moderno Verdi. It is located almost across the street from the train station Brignole and Metro stop. The building and public areas or the hotel are very nice. The room was that we booked was advertised as a small double [which it was], but who travels to Italy to hang out in the hotel room. Everything was as advertised the French double bed was large enough for two. The bathroom had everything we needed. The rain head shower head delivered plenty of hot water with more than sufficient water pressure. Location was close enough for us to walk to numerous attractions or you could take public transportation [bus, subway] if you don't enjoy strolling through a new city. Area seemed very safe and finding restaurants off on a side street serving food in the neighborhood to the locals was very easy.

"Summary: The Good, the Bad and the Bottom Line"
travelcommons, 11 Septembre 2017

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in August 2017. The Good: - Location is just across the street from the train station Brignole, which is a perfect spot to do day trips out to Cinque Terre and stops along the way. There is also the Metro Line within the train station, and multiple buses stop right across the street from the hotel to bring you to all parts of the city. - Close to restaurants and a pedestrian-only shopping area. It was an easy, 10-15 minute walk to Piazza de Farrari along popular streets with many shops and eateries. A highly recommended restaurant, Ristorante Rustichello, is less than five minutes walk. - Comfortable room with good furnishings. - Breakfast buffet is an extra 4 euro, but so worth it because of the incredible variety. This is a great way to get your day started, plus the breakfast hours are extended so everyone can be accommodated. - Proficient service at the front desk. - Nice lobby area with newspapers and tourist info. - Good Wifi - Felt like a safe area, even at night The Bad: - AC was weak and it seemed like it never really got going. It wasn't just our room either, while we waited in the lobby another guest came down to complain about AC that wasn't working in his room. - Too far from the other train station, Genova Piazza Principe, so you'll need to take the metro or bus to get there if you have to catch a train Bottom Line: We had a great stay and found this property to be a great deal for the money we paid. It is modern and clean with a terrific location and excellent breakfast. We give this place a thumbs up and would definitely stay here again.

"Nice stay."
Mark D, 06 Septembre 2017

This is old fashioned hotel located in a very good area. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff is nice and helpful. Good inexpensive breakfast. We will recommend others to stay in this hotel.

"Solid Choice in the Mid-Price Range"
Scott K, 05 Août 2017

We found the Moderno Verdi a solid, if uninspired choice in the mid-price range. Heavy and staid in atmosphere, it enjoys a good location, right next to one of Genoa's two train stations and a 10 minute walk from the central Piazza de Ferrari. A bit old fashioned, but it works.

"Very good"
Sabrina G, 03 Août 2017

The location of the hotel is excellent and the building especially inside charming and elegant. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay, rich and varied, good quality. The only downside was the staff at reception, not particularly polite when we checked in, they also don't provide you with any city maps/ useful info, this could be improved. Overall a pleasant stay.

"Best family hotel near to railway station Brignole"
Ziba V, 22 Juillet 2017

The hotel is only 2 minutes by walk from the railway station Brignole. Even hotel is 3 star but for me was same as 4 star hotels. The staff was very helpful and kind. The room was clean and in a very good condition. Breakfast-open buffet per person is only 4 euro, and worth more than it.If I travel again Genoa, definetely will choose this hotel again. Recommended to everyone!

"Awful customer service"
ShariiBarbie, 16 Juillet 2017

Reception were unwelcoming and provided incorrect information to us on arrival and then blamed us for the miscommunication. Breakfast staff were argumentative over a room number. It was really just ridiculous and I couldn't wait to leave. Rooms were fine. Not up to standard expected with Best Western. Would not recommend.

"Decent hotel but BW has better ones"
MaxPeen, 16 Juillet 2017

Stayed here for two nights. The hotel is situated on the edge of the old city centre and close to the train station which can be quite convenient. The lobby and bar area are rather small. As long as there aren't more than 5-10 people it is ok. The ambiance of the hotel is quite nice, old elevator in the staircase and breakfast room on the 1st floor has a nice interior. The breakfast itself is ok but nothing special. Service is good and they make good espresso's. The room i had was on the third floor and was quite small. It is not possible to leave AC on (due to power-acces with keycard only). That way the room was very very hot when you wanted to sleep, the AC is very noisy so i always try to keep AC on during the day, when i am absent, and turn it off when i go to sleep. This was unfortunately impossible. Room cleanliness was very good and the mini-bar was free of charged and had a couple of bottles water in it. And some sweets and snacks. Look out of the window was in a city-corridor like space, not appealing. The bathroom was very unhandy, the toilet was situated right next tot the sink and you could not sit at it. Maybe a gnome can but i could not. Wi-Fi is free and available everywhere, speed and both connectivity was adequate.

"Most Odd"
733londongirl, 02 Juillet 2017

A client booked the hotel as we were only staying one night. The hotel is fine for a short stay and very central. However, for some unknown reason they wouldn't let us have two keys to the room! We had to make do with just one which was an inconvenience for us as my husband was seeing various biz associates and I was seeing other biz associates. So it meant that I had to leave the key on reception for my husband who was arriving back later than myself and get someone to open the room so I could work and get ready for bed before he arrived back. We were told it wasn't the hotel policy to issue two keys!!! Never have I experienced this before. All very strange

"Delightful Village-like Location"
chuckie80, 21 Juin 2017

Convenient stopover before or after cruise. Short taxi-ride from port with railway station across the road. Hop-on Hop-off bus-stop also across road. Our room was spacious, clean though a little dated. Staff friendly, apart from one young girl on Reception. Manager of bar served our drinks, with nibbles, then provided a plate of toasted cheese and ham sandwiches, complementary, a lovely touch. Dinner and breakfast good, with plenty of variety. Loved the surrounding streets of the hotel with lots of small shops, superette, bars and cafes, plus there is a park within easy walking distance of hotel.

"Simple but stale and not four stars but convenient"
Justin K, 17 Juin 2017

Dated hotel. Good location if you are commuting via Genova Brignole. Our room (318) was laid out poorly with the toilet under the sink (!) and felt a little depressing. Staff were helpful, albeit a little abrupt and the luggage store damaged our suitcase. The hotel is conveniently located across from Genova Brignole - so very good for commuting and metro access. About 20 min walk from the medieval town and port.

"Convenient location"
layknot, 09 Mai 2017

If you are arriving by train this is a great spot as its one block from the Brignole station. About 15 minutes walk to the old town it allows you to wander through some interesting streets on the way down.

"ricky and family"
riccardo b, 04 Mai 2017

really god, only a little difference betwen price under reservation and last price. very clean, and service very god. close to road with shops, bar and restaurant. good for family and single. the staff simply clever!!!

"Good hotel "
BianchiElma, 02 Avril 2017

That hotel is enough good, very good breakfast, very good situation, and it has very nice and kind staffs, the rooms are big and comfortable this hotel is nearby stazione brignole and i will book this hotel again.

Located close to the main train station and few steps from the center of the city this hotel matches the achieved stars. In addition the room is comfortable, clean and well organized. Good for the business as well.

"Nice holiday for staying in Genoa"
DariaIt, 01 Février 2017

The hotel is very well located: next to the train station, beautiful square and the streets with shops and restaurants. The hotel has a nice lobby bar, which is good when you don't want to go outside. The breakfast was good; it has a variety of both hot and cold food and drinks. The room is comfortable too. There is a lot of space for the luggage and clothes; the bathroom is spacious too. The bed is comfortable, but perhaps not too wide. Overall, the hotel is very nice and our stay there was enjoyable.

"Great hotel - not that great staff"
Håkan C, 07 Octobre 2016

The hotel is great - nice and clean, the location is great, the Internet works fine, the breakfast and the price are booth "good enough", but the staff is not up to standard. Well, the staff in the breakfast area are great, but the staff at the front desk treats you like a second class citizen and seems to have forgotten how to smile. Train, educate or replace the staff and I will come back, else I will choose a different hotel next time.

"Excellent "
rocketpants2, 27 Septembre 2016

We stayed here in September for a week and the hotel was lovely. Our double room was very small and compact but nevertheless extremely comfortable and clean. The maid service was good having clean sheets and towels daily and our room was spotlessly cleaned daily. The reception staff are very helpful and polite. We had breakfast every morning it was a continental one but all in all it was just what we needed. The hotel helped our stay become a delightful holiday and throat important thing was it is just near the station.

"Nice & clean but stingy with amenities"
Laura C, 22 Septembre 2016

This would be a very nice hotel except that the staff are extremely cheap with the amenities, which is typical of Italians, but for a four star hotel, I didn't feel that was acceptable. It was very hot out when we stayed, even at night, but the air conditioner did not put out cold air. I called the front desk, and they sent someone up to look at it. The technician/parking garage attendant verified that I had it turned on properly and then told me that it was that temperature because that is how the staff had set it, and he would ask them to turn it down but couldn't promise anything. Of course they didn't turn it down, so we had a lot of difficulty sleeping our entire three nights because we are not used to sleeping in 78 deg F (26 deg. C). In addition, there is no fan or window in the bathroom, so I had to take a lukewarm shower, turning the water on and off, so that I wouldn't steam up the room and make it even hotter. The minifridge was not cold enough to keep the food I brought from spoiling, so I had to throw away my food. On the bright side, the location was good for both parking and taking trains as well as seeing the old city, the room and linens were very clean, and breakfast was quite good. The staff were very formal but not very friendly (although the breakfast staff were more friendly). They did give us ice from the bar when we asked. The parking garage was the smallest we have ever tried to park in. When we saw where we would have to try to fit, we backed out of the garage and went to park at the train station garage. It was a little more expensive, but the spaces are much easier to get into. Overall, this is a clean, business-oriented hotel that has a lot of room for improvement in customer service. I don't think Best Western would be totally satisfied with the way this franchise is run.

"Fabulous!"
Ann H, 18 Septembre 2016

I spent one night there in September 2016 and could not have been any happier. Great location right across the street from the train station. Extremely clean. Excellent and helpful staff who went out of the way to check train connections for me. Wonderful breakfast. I can't think of a single negative.

"Dark Horse Winner for our Europe Trip!"
soccerdad_9, 30 Juillet 2016

After spending a few weeks traveling in France & Italy, we were toward the end of our journey when we arrived for a couple of nights in Genoa. Having seen mixed reviews of our hotel, the Best Western Hotel Moderno Verdi, we were not sure what to expect. What we got was wonderful service, a wonderful room, wonderful location, wonderful breakfast, and need I say it, an overall wonderful experience. The hotel is located directly across from the train station & within easy walking distance to Old Town Genoa & the harbor. Highly recommended!!!

"Wifi was not working"
Lucetta T, 27 Juillet 2016

Wifi didn't work here 2 days and front desk workers almost didn't believe it until they notice it didn't work on Computer. I needed wifi for getting plane and ship tickets but couldn't get tickets online because wifi didn't work. I have new Computer and don't have problems in my computer. The room was very small but clean enough. I was expecting much more. Wifi non funzionato 2 giorni. Era troppo difficile comprare online biglietti perché wifi non funzionato ho dovuto andare a un altro albergo per comprare biglietti online. Ho provato comprare biglietti per aeroplano e nave.

"Historic Hotel in Good Location"
carl0086, 13 Juillet 2016

This is a beautiful building near the Brignole Train Station. I had a double room and it was spacious (for Europe) and beautiful. It was clean and well maintained. There are two elevators, one clearly historic, but it worked fine! I found the staff very friendly and helpful. When I asked where to park, a staff member came outside and led my car right into the garage - a huge help given the odd and narrow streets in Italy. Check in and check out were smooth and easy. When we needed directions, we received maps and clear directions right away. It's about a ten minute walk to the port of Genova and its restaurants and shops. There are also plenty of places even closer. The hotel is on a very busy corner but no road noise came into my room. The biggest negative is that there is only one tiny sign on the hotel's exterior, making it incredibly difficult to find. You have no idea it's a hotel until you are ten feet in front of the door.

"Good location and good service"
Natalie Z, 19 Juin 2016

I think this hotel has a good location near the train station, cafes and shops. The service was good to me and polite. The room was clean. Free wifi and worked fine. There was brochures and magazines at the lobby. Hotel has lifts and then no problem with luggages.

"Clean and central"
Rixs7000, 26 Mai 2016

This hotel is close to old town and is really well Maintained. The check in proses was amazing and informative. Drinks are fairly priced and there are s few good restaurants in the vicinity. Do not expect much from breakfast though. It is a basic cold continental.

"Central but !!!!!"
oguzk525, 17 Mai 2016

Close to Brignole Train Station. European Breakfast is above satisfactory. Some rooms are well above average but some redicoulisly uncomfortable. You may listen the water flow of above room during whole night. Making it worse, most of the receptionists are snobbish. They may even give you room according to your nationality.!!! U may feel so upset there.

"Ok place. Nothing special"
Luke_1979_Lux, 14 Mai 2016

We chose the place since we had a free night with hotel.com website. Nothing special, the rooms are just ok and small , staff is kind. The parking is expensive and location is average. We will choose AirBnB instead for this city

"Helpful staff; tiny room"
Donna H, 30 Avril 2016

The Reception staff all spoke English and were helpful in ordering a taxi for us. We came back after midnight and were served lovely cocktails at the bar, even though the official closing hour is 12. The bartender was very friendly and seemed unconcerned that we had arrived after official closing time. The room was modern and clean, but tiny. Another reviewer suggested asking for a large room, which we did, but we didn't bother complaining as we were there for only one night. There was an additional charge of 1 Euro per person for breakfast, which was well worth it. A typical Italian breakfast of pastries, but there was also sliced cheese, salami and hard boiled eggs and cappuccino.

"Would stay again"
SNNS44, 21 Janvier 2016

We had a great stay in this hotel considering other experiences at Best Western. We had a very comfortable room with a nice bathroom and powerful shower. The only issue would be the very noisy shredder attached to the toilet...don't flush in the middle of the night! The hotel is in a good location, right across from the train station. Breakfast was good with a later finish which is always a comfort when on holiday. Staff we very friendly and helpful. Would stay again.

"Good location, helpful staff."
giorgiozac, 04 Janvier 2016

Stayed three nights for holidays. Experienced the staff to be friendly & helpful, the room was small but clean, comfortable and had a spacious bathroom. Cozy and quiet, with old charm elevator. Good central location, it is close to everything, small and nice restaurants with great and genuine food are nearby. Good breakfast that could be improved. Booking online through expedia was a little misleading.

"Great location. Large Comfortable Rooms"
dabooka, 07 Décembre 2015

We stayed here one night whilst visiting Genoa. The location can't be beat if you're arriving by train. Sightseeing was just a walk to the old town not to mention some great restaurants nearby. I had noted other negative reviews on Trip Advisor regarding staff. We didn't have any issues. Reception didn't greet me like a long lost brother, but they were friendly enough and helpful. Room was very large and comfortable. Definitely good value for money. Overall highly recommended.

"Disappointed"
SAM-RFB, 28 Novembre 2015

This Best Western is in an ideal location, steps from Brignole Station. Small room, nice decor, good shower, comfy bed but a terrible smell coming from the toilet. Nobody at the front desk was willing to do anything about it. I am a Best Western member so the treatment I received here was a surprise. My stay was paid for and my reservation complete so I was checked in without a problem. When I was ready to leave, I was surprised to find that my payment had not been received even though I had a confirmation #. The staff were rude, refused to look at my confirmation and demanded a credit card. They attempted to call BW; but at lunch time in Italy this could be a problem. We had to leave to catch our train and left our card. Upon our return, we had to deal with it. My extra time, effort and frustration really could have been avoided with a little customer service from the front desk...

"Good hotel, good location but indifferent reception staff."
Sue D, 04 Octobre 2015

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and it was perfect for what we wanted. The location was excellent, the Brignole Station was just across the road as well as the metro which takes you to the marina. The room was clean, quiet and had a very good shower. The air con needs to be better but the wifi was good. Excellent restaurants nearby. The Rusticello is excellent and just around the corner as was the even better restaurant Genovese-you must book for both! The aquarium is a 'must visit' too. The breakfast wasn't that good but this was true of every hotel we stayed in in Italy during our 3 week stay. However, what really lets this hotel down is the attitude of the reception staff. Apart from one young girl who smiled and tried to engage with us the others were indifferent and out right rude. A lot of people have commented on their attitude in their reviews so why hasn't anything been done about it? Having said that though, we felt that wedidn't spend enough time in Genoa, it's a lovely city with more to see and we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

"Miserable Staff"
benjamin r, 04 Octobre 2015

On the 3rd leg of our Sep trip we stayed at the Best Western Hotel Moderno Verdi in Genoa Italy. This hotel is in the city centre and isn't easy to find the hotel garage is even harder to find and very small ( beware if you have a big car ) , The reception staff are as friendly as prisoners on death row, but the restaurant staff are o k The rooms are big and comfy and the dinner and breakfast were fine. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

"Good hotel, strange service."
skewedtravel, 22 Septembre 2015

I didn't pre-book, so my booking at the reception was entirely based on what I was told at the time. After getting the price for the room, I asked if there was parking available. They first told me there was a parking garage a few blocks away and it was 22 euro a day. After talking a bit more, they told me they have a parking garage under the hotel. So this confused me a lot. Why wouldn't they tell me about their parking right away? I specifically asked if they had space for me. They looked at me quizzically and said of course. So 15 minutes later as I approach their garage and ask to get buzzed in... They tell me it's full. As I'm backing up, a man from a parking garage quite literally beside the hotel tells me they have room in his garage for 15 euro. I'm frustrated by the whole parking situation and pay. I have no idea what the situation with parking is, but I wouldn't depend on it if you need it given my experience. The second problem I had was with breakfast. The foods available and quality of food was fine, but the service seemed to ignore my family. I saw waiters going to other tables constantly and serving, but when I asked for 2 cappucinos, they never arrived to serve me after 10 minutes. By that time I had to go and never inquired further. The room itself was nice and modern, however the hot tub didn't work. Location is great as it's right next to the train station, and there's a lot of good restaurants nearby. An OK value overall.

"Of days gone by... but lovely"
Boojies, 22 Septembre 2015

We were a bit concerned about the outer looks of The Best Western Hotel Moderno Verdi : old-fashioned is an understatement. But it's more old world charm than lack of modern conveniences here. It's a lovely relic that has been brought up-to-date inside. The location is a bit noisy and crowded - but you do want to be in the center of things when visiting Genoa. It faces the huge Brignole Train Station, where there is also SUPPOSED to be a Metro station, but in the Genoa rain, the Metro was not functioning at this station (!!!!) The room was small but sufficient, with an outer room/hall. The bathroom was just fine. Breakfast was excellent. Service quite good. We had a car. but did not use the hotel parking, opting to park on a side street (it was a Sunday). Very nice small restaurants around hotel. Not the most pleasant of areas, but as a couple we did not feel unsafe.

"OK"
Einar85, 22 Septembre 2015

The room was small, but clean. Service was nothing special, staff almost seemed unhappy. When arriving we couldn't find their parking garage, and it was hard to find a parking space so we could get directions from the reception. Walking distance to town.
