    « Beautiful venue »

We only stayed 1 night but all agreed we'd have happily stayed longer. Staff were very friendly, food in the Jacobean pub was excellent and the quiz night was great fun. Definitely going back soon. The garden looked extensive and well kept - the leaves were being cleared as the snow fell. Would look gorgeous for wedding photos

« Ok, but with a couple of issues »

The hotel is in well kept grounds and it looks impressive from the outside. The room was clean with a nice bathroom and there are good facilities on site with 2 bars and free wifi. The welcome at reception was very warm and the lady really helpful. However, I didn't sleep a wink at the hotel. The extractor fan in my bathroom ran all night - loudly. It wasn't possible to shut it off for whatever reason. I did tell reception in the morning and they were very apologetic and said they'd get it fixed. The final concern was the Jacobean Pub menu - not a single vegetarian main course on offer. That was a problem for me and I had to leave the hotel for dinner.

    « Fire alarm »

Been to Rogerthorpe a few times over the last year had a lovely time food fab staff fantastic ! Tonight the 25th fire Alarm went between 6-7 pm a few times ..Then unfortunately at 12.30am went off after a few mins then at 1.30 am went off a few mins writing this at 2.20 once again it's gone of for a few mins ... If my hubby had not drank a couple off glasses of wine .. We would travel back to Lincoln it's a nightmare !Staff to be fair have been great but I need sleep ??

    « Wedding stay »

We stayed for two nights as part of a wedding package in November 2016. Staff were brilliant, room(s) were great, hotel reasonably well appointed if a little quirky. Wedding food good and breakfasts excellent. Our only difficulty was that our hot water tap didn't work - immediately rectified by way of a free upgrade which was great for us but, as the hotel was full it meant someone else got the duff plumbing. Would most certainly recommend

    « Food fantastic! »

I have only been in the restaurant - it Always looks amazing. Very tasty and lovely staff! Keep up the good work. I live a while away from this amazing place but I will hopefully be able to return soon! ??

« Good room but a little on the small side »

I stayed for one night as I was working in the area. The room is well presented but a little on the small side. I had a nice evening meal and breakfast the following morning was good. I deal for a catch up with friends or a quick one night away

    « Family Celebration »

We organised a family / friends celebration at Rogerthorpe Manor and couldn't have been happier with the way the evening went. Planning the event was straight forward with good advice offered throughout. The evening started well with the room looking lovely, the dj agreed to play the music of our choice, which he did - keeping the dance floor full throughout, the food was excellent and the staff on duty were all incredibly helpful. Our guests all enjoyed the evening which was important for us and overall we couldn't be happier with the event.

« Venue great beds poor »

Currently staying in one of the guest bedrooms following a friends wedding. As a wedding venue the hotel has everything you could wish for, although despite having to pre order your menu choice on the day there wasn't enough lamb as another guest had changed their mind! But the down side is the rooms. We are only short in height but our feet are hanging of the end of the bed and the mattress is extremely poor. Only a thin mattress on a very hard base. When paying a discounted price of £100 a night I would at least expect to have a proper sized mattress. Poor end to what was a great day. Let's hope the breakfast makes up for our lack of sleep.

« We travelled thirty five miles for lunch here »

And worth the trip. Wonderful value for money for a seniors fixed price lunch that is first class. This is the fifth time we have met friends, who also travel a similar distance from the opposite direction, at this delightful venue. Staff are brilliant and the food gorgeous well done all, keep it going.

« one night stand (stay) »

forgive me Burnt-wood Court for I have strayed and had a one night stand! ..... and I must say it was a lovely change, having spent most of the year off and on at the court, found it was fully booked one night and went to find somewhere else... what a good find, excellent warm friendly service at reception, a warm cosy room, and all facilities working! may well have a bit on the side more often!

    « What a setting »

My wife and i went in late October 2016 for her birthday and as a surprise i booked a room with a 4 poster bed so upon arrival we were told that due to a wedding the room may be a bit noisy so they had upgraded us to a suite which after seeing it was absolutely beautiful (only opened in April 2016) with everything you could wish for along with a birthday card and box of chocolates from the staff at the hotel. The hotel restaurant is mainly steak which we both decided on and glad we did as it was superb along with the chips and salad, breakfast was equally as good served in the Jackobean pub attached to the hotel. To top off our 3 day break we chose the afternoon tea on Saturday afternoon which was no disapointment with plenty of nice sandwiches, cakes and even home made trifle. The whole concept of this hotel was superb, views around the grounds, accomodation food and staff made this a break to look back on.

    « PJ Pamper Party!! »

It was the first time I had visited this hotel, there was 7 of us & we had the pamper package in one of the suites. It was an amazing stay & great views! The beds were one of the best I've slept in (Memory Foam!) & the service was good, despite having to call up reception to be reminded that we were expecting canopies, hot choc & champagne in the room that evening. There was fizzy water in the room supplied, however this was out of date from July 2016 which was disappointing to see. Only one toilet though which was situated upstairs in the corner so with 7 in the room did expect to see two, perhaps one downstairs & one upstairs. We enjoyed the disco ball in the room and had a great feel to it, we certainly made use of the dance floor in the middle of the room too! The Jacobean pub was fabulous for a meal and had a good set up for a full English breakfast to start off the day too! I would certainly be back again, the grounds are great to see & has a lot of character to the place, worth taking a photo or two!

    « wedding »

a beautiful day and the grounds were idyllic for a wedding plenty of space for children to run around such a romantic venue. we had a sit down meal and a buffet in the evening the only mistake we made was to not book to stay there the night as it was so lovely we didn't want to leave

    « Great Value »

I have been to this restaurant a number of times and is never fails to deliver .The food is excellent ,service top notch nothing is too much bother for the staff. The settings in which this Hotel stand is to die for, beautiful Yorkshire countryside. The gardens are so well kept .its a great venue for Weddings and parties.Would Strongly recommend a visit. We did not stay at the Hotel ,just had a meal.

« High standard never drops »

Visited this great establishment again. The standard of food, service etc never fails to be anything but of a high level. Although the menu doesn't change there are always additional "specials" as well as specialist evenings. The cost of the meals is comparible to other restaurants - the seniors citizens two course meal being £9.95 including coffee/tea. I would recommend the Jacobean pub to anyone. There is also a "1610 steak house. rooms and banquet / wedding / party facilities

    « Excellent meal »

I have been many times to this hotel from the 1980's but also in the last ten years. The meals in the Jacobean bar are very good and especially the seniors menu which has a good choice and extras on the board. I have used this to help with Christmas and Birthday presents as a voucher for £20 will buy 2 two course meals including coffee and I am sure will be a welcome gift to receive. Keep up the good work!

    « 5*suites »

Another wonderful stay at The Rogerthorpe Manor-&we stayed in suite 17 this time. The suites are just gorgeous & we will certainly be staying in a suite next time. As we always stay over when we go to the races,we won't be trying anywhere else. This hotel is a real gem. I really must mention the delicious food & very friendly staff. The grounds & flowers are lovely too.Looking forward to our next trip already!

« Our wedding day - Best day ever!! »

Wowsers!! What a wedding day. (3rd sept 2016) We loved every moment of it, Karen (and Nicola) took my ideas on board and made them completely real. The day was everything we envisaged and more. There was even another wedding in the other room which we were completely unaware of all evening. Its easy to see the staff do this on a regular basis everything went without a hitch and to plan (if i didn't we were unaware). The staff couldn't do enough, and despite one of our guests being rude at one point he was removed from the situation with such ease that other guests including myself was unaware (there is always one!!). The room looked gorgeous, and was turned around quickly from a ceremony room to wedding breakfast with ease. I cant big you guys up enough, we had an amazing day and i married the man i completely adore and get to spend the rest of my life with. The guests commented on our singer (katrina), the staff and venue of the Rogerthorpe Manor and the food (which was delicious). All in all from the planning stages to the day its self nothing was too much trouble, we thankyou so so so much for making our day so special. We HIGHLY recommend you guys.

« Eating at the Jacobean restaurant »

visited the restaurant on our wedding anniversary 2nd Sept 2016 The meal was very good - starter of mussels was first class - main meal very good but you have to pay extra for veg. Sweet also very good Service first class - The waiters were very attentative.

    « Would try again »

We went there as a group of 10. Quite a busy lunchtime. Food preordered so we didn't have to wait too long for service. I was really happy with my meal but husband ordered fish and chips and found batter spongey. Also one person had cold steak pie delivered to him. Only other complaint was that we only had 2 servings of veg for the group which seemed a bit sparse. I would definitely give this place another try as part of a smaller group.

    « Suites...stunning! »

My boyfriend and I stopped here for one night 27/08/2016 in the superior suites (suite number 17). Suite 17 has an upstairs and a downstairs. It's absolutely beautiful we loved it!!!! Bed was ridiculously comfy...TV came with all channels and there was also a TV in the bath too. We loved the decor! Really clean. Perfect for a cosy night away with parking spaces reserved for superior guests only! We had tea in the Jacobean restaurant which was delicious. (Steak Mexicana & Fish and Chips). I would recommend booking your evening table especially if staying on a Saturday night as the pub/restaurant got full pretty quickly. Breakfast was served the next morning buffet style which was also in the Jacobean restaurant. This was also delicious. Wide variety provided - full English, cereals, toast, yoghurts and fruit service with a choice of fruit juice and water. There was also a hot drinks machine too. We were able to check in at 3pm and check out time is 10:30am which we felt was a little early but non the less, we will definitely be coming back to stay in the suites :-)

« Quiet room, off the main road »

I've been travelling to this area for nearly 40 years and only discovered this hotel because our corporate booking machine told me the usual hotel in Pontefract was full. And what a nice surprise. Large room, fluffy towels, spotless bathroom, lovely breakfast, peaceful night. What more do you need? Definitely be back.

« Stayed for wedding receptin »

We stayed at Rogerthorpe Manor for a wedding reception, the room we stayed in had a smell of drains to it that grew stronger when we had a shower. We reported this to a member of staff on the corridor who came into the room and said she would report it to the manager, nothing was done and we mentioned it to reception the next morning. We were only stayiing one night and wouldnt be in the room only to sleep so I told her it was fine for a night but if I was staying longer I would have wanted to be moved. The staff who help organise the room and the reception were very helpful as were the staff in the Jacobean restaurant all be it some of the guests who were eating there were not, they were very rude to the fact that children were in the restaurant. The check out time was to early I thought 10.30am, breakfast is served from 7.30 to 10.30 which doesnt give you time to have a late relaxing breakfast as you need to pack and clear your room. The gardens were lovely and well kept. Dont think I would stay here again

    « Fabulous new suites,immaculate gardens »

Stayed in the coach house suite 15 when attending a golden wedding celebration. Quiet, very spacious and luxurious. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food quality and portions excellent. Glad we chose a suite away from main hotel as there were two wedding parties there on one of the two days and we gathered that noise might have been an issue in the main hotel. Hotel gardens a credit to owners -immaculate.

    « Wedding reception »

Our wedding reception at Rogerthorpe manor (Cawthorne suite) was a wonderful day. The staff on the day, from reception to bar, the wait staff as well as the MC were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. The wedding coordinators Karen & Nicola were a credit to the venue from our first meeting to book to the wonderful welcome we received on the day & support they provided through our wedding breakfast. The grounds of the hotel are fantastic and we were lucky enough to have some brilliant weather! The food at both the wedding breakfast and on the evening buffet was excellent - really tasty & was enjoyed by all our guests. The room decoration was also excellent, from the items provided in our package by Rogerthorpe Manor to the decorations taken by myself and kindly put out by the staff. The evening DJ was fantastic and followed our requests to the letter ensuring the music played was what we wanted and also taking requests from guests on the night. Overall, we would highly refommend this venue for an excellent wedding reception venue and hope to attend weddings here in the future.

    « Attending a wedding reception »

Nice friendly welcome on arrival. Good comfortable accommodation in a well decorated bedroom. Lovely gardens and surrounding area. Hotel has a delightful old world charm. Food in the Jacobean Pub very good but service a little on the slow side. Reception setting very good with efficient staff, food, while good, was not up to standard expected (lamb shank could not be cut with supplied knives).

    « Wedding Day »

We recently got married at Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel, and had a lovely day. The run up to our wedding and all our queries we had were dealt with professionally buy Karen Hunter and Nicola Farnham, they were extremely helpful. On the day of our wedding the room for the ceremony looked beautiful and everything was just perfect. The gardens are amazing, this was a big part of why we chose Rogerthorpe as our wedding venue. Also the food was fantastic, portion sizes were very good and it taste delicious. Our Master of Ceremonies, Janet, was very helpful and friendly too. Our reception room, The Lawrence Suite, was transformed for the evening reception and it looked great. Everyone had a brilliant day and we have lovely memories to treasure. One of the bar staff called Rebecca was very understanding and forgiving about an awkward guest, she was lovely. There were a few occasions I was spoken to by staff on the reception desk, and their attitude was terrible. I also had some guests inform me they had been told off for asking to get flowers from my room that had been left up there. There was another wedding on the same day as ours and I understand that the bride and groom from each wedding party should not cross paths, but we were unable to leave our room all night. I think the timings of the two weddings were all wrong, once our wedding breakfast and speeches were over we could not go anywhere else in the hotel as the other wedding was ongoing. It seemed they had the run of the whole hotel and could wander wherever, but this was not the case for us. That evening, some guests were also told they should not walk through the conservatory to our reception room and were unsure of another way to go. We were also very disappointed with our bridal suite, when you see brochures or pictures online, you expect the huge room with the large seating area. But when we saw our room it was very small and dark, nothing in comparison to the other bridal suite. It just seems to me that having an early wedding in The Lawrence Suite, which was not cheap, should receive the same service as The Cawthorne wedding. Also, one more thing that really got to me... We were told we had until 11am the following morning to remove our wedding items from the reception room. When we got downstairs we were then informed we only had until 10am as there was another wedding on. Our items were just thrown onto a table in the corner of the room and the remainder of our wedding cake was all squashed. It felt as if we were no longer important guests as our day was done with. Don't get me wrong, our day was beautiful, but there were things that did not go as expected too. I would not recommend holding a wedding there unless you are the only wedding that day or you book The Cawthorne Suite, as they just seemed to have the best of everything.

Me and my husband got married here on Saturday! Everything was absolutely perfect! The team were well organised, everything ran smoothly, the food was to die for, the grounds looked beautiful, the staff were all very friendly, I could go on and on. « My sons wedding »

We celebrated my son and daughter in laws wedding on Saturday. The venue and gardens were stunning, the meal was excellent, served by efficient waiting staff. All members of the hotel including reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were luxurious, clean and very comfortable and the whole day was perfect. Well done.

« An amazing place to stay »

We stopped for just one night as we attended a wedding function - the rooms were clean, tidy with wonderful views over the gardens. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, which is essential as the complex is like a maze and navigating yourself around can be tricky. The food was amazing, especially the breakfast - well done chef.

    « Anniversary »

My partner booked a one night stay here for us for our anniversary. On arrival we were offered an upgrade to one of their suites for an extra £25 which my partner accepted. When we opened the door to our suite we literally both gasped as it was so outstanding. The decor, space, quality and attention to detail was second to none. The bathroom was amazing with aquavision!! We had booked to eat in the restaurant and the food was exceptional. The staff we really attentive. The breakfast next morning was one of the best we have had, with such good choice. Particularly enjoyed the fruit kebabs. All in all it was an experience we will not forget and would love to return again.

    « Stunning Wedding Venue »

We had our wedding at Rogerthorpe Manor yesterday, first of all the garden and grounds are magnificent and make a beautiful setting for wedding pictures. The manor its self is charming and full of character, our guests all said how lovely it was. Then the wedding ceremony, wedding breakfast and wedding reception all ran so smoothly Karen and her team made it look effortless like a well oiled machine. I can not complement Karen and her team enough. All I can say is thank you for making our lovely memories we will cherish them forever and Rogerthorpe Manor will always stay in our hearts.

    « Lovely and quiet »

Arrived late and received a lovely welcome, I was then informed it was prom night for the local school. The event was so well managed I didn't hear a thing. The room was lovely and spacious with everything a tired traveler could want. While not large the grounds are pretty and the views do allow you to forget the cares of the day. Breakfast was also of a high standard and I would happily stay Here again

    « Wedding 29th July »

We got married here on the 29th July 2016, I have to say that the day far exceeded my expectations, staff were impecable, in particular Karen our wedding coordinator who had a particularly picky customer in me, her and the team ensured that every piece of the day was exactly how I wanted it. The food on the day again exceeded expectations, the pork was perfection, hot and moist which is no mean feat en mass, all of our guests commented on how good the food was. Every bit of the day was seamless, well organised and you can tell the staff are happy in their roles, reflected in the impecable service. The rooms are of a high standard, and the new suites are blooming gorgeous!. All in all it was a great day, and we will be back to enjoy the facilities again soon.

    « Got married here »

Hi, we got married here on the 4th August, it was the best day of our life's, I'm not from Yorkshire n my family and friends r messaging me the food was the best they had at a wedding & the venue was so clean n lovely. The staff just couldn't do enough for u from the 1st day we walked in to view it from the day we left as a married couple. On the wedding day all day we had a manager to help us through the day. Our wedding cordantior,s Karen & Nicola well where do I start! They both are absoutley amazing nothing is ever any trouble for them, I know it's they job but it's more of a job to them both. We had a lot more dealings in Nicola, she was absoutley amazing, we found a friend in her. She couldn't do enough for us ever time we meet she would go to that extra mile to make sure it be perfect for us. On the day it was perfect for us. I know you want your wedding day to be perfect cause you worked so hard finically and planning it cause it's probably the biggest day of your life's. And all day to them that worked at rogerthorpe manor it was. Would truly recommend them. We looked everywhere but words can't explain how much rogerthorpe manor made our day perfect for us! Defo suggest to go and have a look, you won't be disappointed!

    « Wedding. »

Good hotel, staff and food. Setting very nice, ideal for a wedding. My main complaint is that having been told that due to a wedding there would be some noise I was not prepared for the torture of the floor nearly bouncing to the bass beat from the disco. Having booked this hotel some time in advance and being in my seventies I thought I may have been put in a room that was not to near to this constant beat, in fact the brides Father on the night of our wedding asked for the sound to be reduced. Although this may sound like sour grapes, some of the guest, I was told where given rooms away from the noise as no other rooms where available in priority to those who had booked many months in advance. This said just ensure if you wish to book this very nice hotel, you are given a room as far away from the function area as possible and are not penalised for booking in advance and loosing out to people who come after you, would stay again subject to best available room away from noise.

« Fab wedding venue but pricey rooms »

Stayed here for two nights for a family wedding. The wedding was arranged perfectly, with input from the bride and groom. There was very little of the hanging around often found at weddings and it was absolutely seamless throughout. 5* for the wedding. I thought the rooms were rather small for the price paid although the buildings, location, gardens and the members of staff we met were lovely. The shower was particularly cramped and I'm not that large so I imagine it could be quite difficult for some people. Breakfast on the first morning was a la carte and quite exceptional, especially the eggs Florentine and the selection was extensive both days with lovely fruit and decent gluten free toast. On the second morning there was a buffet instead - still nice but not as good and for the same rate. I wasn't as impressed with the main meals as other reviewers. I would give the hotel 5* if the rates were lower -I think £20 per night less would be more realistic when compared to many other places I have stayed in but if you're attending a wedding there, options are limited. Having said that it was a brilliant family occasion in beautiful surroundings.

    « Impressive »

Located not too far from the A1 in beautiful tranquil countryside this former Manor House has a positive impact. My room -25 - accessed via a short chicane of corridors and stairs was comfortable, spotlessly clean with bespoke fitted furniture and an open countryside view, which, if you're up early enough, gives a great view of the sunrise. Residents can eat in the hotel lounge bar (recommend the lamb kleftiko minus the tomatoes) which is possibly the better option than having to walk outside, albeit, no great distance to the hotel Jacobean Pub (where an excellent breakfast is also served - recommend eggs florentine). As it's a fairly big site, pity a small gym wasn't available and with all that land around a great opportunity for a golf course......we can all dream....

    « Afternoon Tea »

Went here for afternoon tea. We were served by Mohamed who was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble and he really did look after us. The tea comprised of homemade sandwiches, more than we've had elsewhere, followed by no less than five cakes each and a lovely fruit triffle. Only complaint, the scones were not big enough to use up all the clotted cream and jam. Endless pots of tea, and several different blends to choose from. During our tea, we were never rushed, and managed to clear the tiered cake stand. Was a great afternoon in a superb room lined in oak panelling, we were lucky to have table by window overlooking the gardens. Don't think the fireplace was operational and would take a real log fire, but would be a great centre piece for afternoon tea on a autumn afternoon. Only downside.. the cups and plates were not bone china and the centre table cloth was black. Bearing in mind this is a new venture for Rogerthorpe Manor they've really got it right and priced accordingly. A great afternoon. Thanks

Stayed 2 nights in suite 15 (coach house) which is a suite situated at the side of the hotel , free standing ( no noise from other guests , except being woken early Monday morning by the bin men ) and has its own reserved parking space. There is a patio area you can use also . The bedrooms in the suites are huge and ours had a king size bed , which is extremely comfortable , large dressing table but only had a small shaving style mirror which was useless for drying and styling hair in front of etc , big flat screen TV, mood lighting , ipod docking station , tea making facilities with large selection of tea and coffee . There is a dressing area with wardrobe and safe ( though this was broken , reported twice and nothing done about it ) . Dressing gowns , slippers and toiletries provided. Bathroom is large with a big walk in shower , bath complete with its own tv ! The staff are very friendly on reception and in the Jacobean pub dining room . We had an evening meal there and breakfast . Both meals delicious, however I had to ask for more food to be brought out at breakfast as some items had run out . There was no staff about so had to go into the kitchen to let them know . This is a lovely hotel and well worth a stay , we were attending a wedding reception in the hotel which was amazing . Room had the wow factor and very well run and fantastic meal . Drinks extremely expensive at the bar though . Was a lovely treat to stay at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it .

    « Sunday carvery »

Excellent!!!! Not a lot more can be said. It's lovely food at a good price. Staff are pleasant and friendly. Surroundings are superb. I like the fact that there are never lots of children in. Please do not ever build a kiddies play area. The food is cooked just right, cauliflower cheese is really good, parsnips are excellent. I don't like going anywhere else for Sunday carvery. This is always my first choice.

    « Superb country hotel »

Well located not that far from main roads but far enough to have a real country estate feel. Great welcome from reception and friendly team throughout the hotel. Rooms vary from relatively small to brilliant suites. Well worth a visit, we were here for business but will return for a weekend break.

    « Great venue »

Just had a family wedding at this hotel , and with out a doubt it was first class from start to finish . Me and the groom and three best men stopped the night before in a suit that had 4 double beds , lounge and the toilet and showers were on a mezzanine floor above ( amazing space ) . The staff were brilliant , very helpful and nothing was to much trouble . The day of the wedding continued in the same pattern , the staff brilliant the venue and the food lovely . A lot of the wedding guests stop the night and the hotel rooms were again great , well equipped and the breakfast is varied and plentiful . To some up Great Hotel , Great Venue well worth a stay

Went to Rogerthorpe Manor to a work roadshow, to say that the food was brilliant would be a massive understatement. The staff, food and drink were superb and I can't fault anything about the venue. I would love to go back again, great venue.

« Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel, excellent but expensive »

Paid extra for the executive double room, you may say it was expensive for a 3 star hotel but......wow, what a room! Split level bedroom, massive TV, walk in wardrobe, walk in shower big enough for 6, fabulous so combined with an excellent meal, as a treat this hotel & surroundings rank as one of the best I have ever stayed in. Highly recommended

    « Exceptional food »

My husband and I visited this evening and the food was exceptional. The menu has plenty of variety for everyone. The meat on the mixed grill was cooked to perfection. Staff are very helpful and friendly and they also have different theme nights throughout the month which looked really good value for money. I've also been to Sunday carvery which is the best in the area with a constant supply of fresh food. Lovely location, I highly recommend.

« Rogerthorpe - Great staff and amazing food »

I have stayed in this hotel a few times now. This is honestly the best hotel experience I have had in many years. Rogerthorpe has warm and welcoming staff, and the food is some of the best food I've ever had in a hotel. The rooms all have similar decor, but I've yet to stay in the same layout room yet. (some are very quirky and the Manor is very old) I will be back many times.

« Attentive service and excellent food »

Have been to the Jacobean Pub at the hotel for the past two Saturday evenings with eight other friends. Had to book but it was well worth the time and effort on both occasions. The service e from all staff was second to none, the food was excellent and very tasty, we had a variety of different meals and all of them were excellent. Not often I say that as we are a very discerning crowd who enjoy our food, eat like horses and enjoy each others company at different venues every weekend. So to say we went to this eatery two weeks in succession shows it was a good experience and well worth repeating. We will be trying somewhere different this weekend but we will be back at Rogerthorpe again in the near future.

« Great Place to stay »

Stayed here for one night on business, beautiful grounds as you arrive with a number of follies and arches around, see why it would be popular for weddings with the photo opportunities. Standard Room was functional clean and had all the necessary amenities, reception staff were helpful and polite. The Jacobean pub on site is welcoming, airy and the food was excellent and good value, I had the Lamb Kleftiko which I would highly recommend. Only slight disappointment - no real ale.

    « Disappointed »

We went for Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago.We all had the carvery and was very disappointed, the meat was good but the rest of it was well below par.The veg was not very hot ,tasteless and did not look good. One of us wanted a cheese board for dessert ,but they had no cheese,[baring in mind this is also a hotel].I wanted a Latte and was told the machine was out of order.Would not go again. It is situated in beautiful ground and beautiful veiws. But it ends there

    « Birhtday treat »

The visit was for my husband's 71st birthday and I booked expecting a restaurant but its another hotel where the restaurant doesn't open during the week. Disappointed but the food served in the Jacobean Bar made up for it. The food was very well cooked and well presented - the best roast potatoes I have ever had. Crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. My husband had belly pork and told me that there was stuffing which hadn't been mentioned on the menu so I was pleased with my choice of Haddock Mornay with a very subtle cheese sauce. We chose the Senior 2 course menu knowing we don't have the appetite of our younger days but there was plenty. My husband had the Leek and Potato soup which he really enjoyed but I followed my main with profiteroles which finished the meal perfectly. My husband drank a couple of the beers whilst I had a couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio. We moved out of the Bar and into the residents bar as there was a quiz and had another couple of drinks. This is where they lost the fifth rating. The room itself was very nice but it is a long time since we were in a hotel where the double room was actually a double (although I booked a twin room online) The bed wasn't very comfortable and although they offered a pillow menu by the time we realised what the pillows were like we felt it was too late to be phoning reception for alternatives There were 2 very soft pillows and 2 very firm - neither option was suitable for us so we didn't sleep very well. There is very little road noise or noise from other guests even though we were based at the top of the stairs. Would like to thank Claire and Mohammed for the excellent service they provided in the Jacobean Bar and the chef who made the roast potatoes. We checked out at 7.00am(eventually) as the staff struggled to access the correct programme on the computer - not very professional. We may go back for the food but probably not to stay

This is an excellent location, that's my first point, the staff were also on top form and could not do enough for us. Fab hotel, great food, ok the drinks are a little on the expensive side but that's par for the course these days for a top notch hotel. We stayed in Suite 16, just fantastic as are the other Suites[A MUST if you are stopping over] We could not find fault, they even have their own inn attached to hotel, what's not to like about that!!

I can't believe people gave anything less than 5 stars. Turned up work weary to be greeted by lovely Doreen. Was given an upgrade, the Bridal suite I believe. Fantastic place, great food, and beautiful setting. Will be looking for this place again when I am in the area. Thanks to everyone, you were so welcoming and helpful. Well deserved 5.

    « Wedding! »

We visited as wedding guests and we were impressed by the friendly welcome given by all the staff. The grounds and the rooms allocated were all very well presented and the whole occasion flowed well. The food served was delicious, hot and well presented, only let down by a poor quality perry served for the toast. Cheap Babycham type drink did not sit well with the image presented by the hotel, cava would have been perfect! The wedding party were all well looked after and the communal areas of the hotel all looked smart and welcoming.

    « 5 STAR HOTEL - THE SUITES @ THE MANOR »

Rogerthorpe was a great venue to get married in 2001 and we thought it would be great to revisit to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We were advised to book the new superior suites that were now available, so we follow that advice. Leading busy lives we did not get the chance to check out the new suites and as a result we were totally amazed when we arrived and saw the suite. We had been looking for a good venue for our friends visiting from Australia to celebrate New Years Eve and now we have found it we have promptly booked it. Well done Rogerthorpe - You should be proud!!

    « Our wedding- Brilliant »

Where do I begin with this place? Great staff, great food and extremely accommodating. The grounds are brilliant, everyone that attended our wedding thoroughly enjoyed it. We had both our ceremony and evening do here. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff (I know we had paid a lot of money) but still they went bone and beyond. We had numerous rooms booked out and breakfast the next day was also good quality.

« Over priced and average. »

Exceptionally over priced, poor customer service, inflexible, out to 'upswell' on everything, below average decor and low grade food. I was charged £125 for one for the 'privilege' of staying at this hotel for 1 night I would suggest a maximum rate of £60 for 2 people, is more in line with the grade of the hotel and what they offer. Whilst I use the services of tripadviser regularly, I am not in the habit of writing reviews, however after my recent, below average, over priced experience of Rogerthorpe Manor I felt the need to share my experience as it is wrong that hotels should be allowed to take advantage of their customers by charging exorbitant rates whilst offering a such poor quality experience. Firstly I chose to book through booking.com as to book through the hotel would require payment in full and up front, no matter how far in advance you book. In my 12 years of travelling the world I have only ever once had to pay for a hotel room upfront -my first experience of this turned out to be an exceptionally poor hostel in my early days of travel. For me any company which charges their customers for services upfront suggests a lack of confidence in the customer experience they are planning to provide, and is certainly not in character for the type of hotel Rogerthorpe promote themselves as, retrospectively I should have taken heed and booked elsewhere. Secondly, check in is at 3:30pm. As I was attending a wedding in the area, I rang the hotel to enquire as to whether or not the room would be available earlier for me to get ready in. Again, something I have often asked of a hotel in the past and all other hotels have offered the room early should it be available. There was no mention of this when I rang, only that if I wanted to check in early I would need to pay an additional charge. Given I was already paying £125 for one night, single occupancy, I was not prepared to pay additional cost, and ended up getting ready at the hotel where the wedding was - The Wentbridge, and where I very sadly was unable to get a room, due to full occupancy. For the same same price I would highly recommend staying here should you have a choice, customer service, food and rooms far surpassed Rogerthorpe. Thirdly, the room I stayed in was of very average decor, the bed small, ok for 1 but would be very tight for 2, had a minimal view, and the view there was, was blocked by film on the window and the lighting was atrocious. Whilst appreciating the hotel have consciously gone down the sustainable and cost saving route by installing LED lighting, it is all flourescent in tone and creates a 'cheap' and harsh effect throughout, is horrendously bright and does not allow you to dim or tone down the lighting in the bedroom or bathroom. Opting for warm LED fittings, it won't improve the decor, but it will help with the ambience And light levels. Arriving back late from my evening out, I was looking forward to a lie in, unfortunately I was awoken by what sounded like drilling at 7am on a Sunday morning. When I mentioned this to the staff, they looked at me blankly and said well there are no workers on site, thenoise must have been another guest. Staff were unapologetic or willing to take any responsibility for me being awoken by noise on site, again not the response I was expecting from the type of hotel Rogerthrope are parading to be. As I was at the back of the hotel, had I still been asleep at 9am i certainly wouldn't be any more as the bottles from the previous night get disposed of from 9am making an almighty racket! Again unthoughtful and ill considered. There are no mobile phone chargers on site should you need to borrow one, not even one you could plug your phone into at reception. Apparently they 'can't trust their customers with spare chargers.' Finally Apparently booking on a third party website means Breakfast is not included, even though booking direct it is. As I had especially not gone direct because I didn't agree with their upfront payment policy, I don't feel I should be penalised. Again apparently this is something I should have known and apparently 'no fault of the hotel' although I would expect the hotel to monitor what their third party suppliers are doing and take responsibility for this. For £125 a night in the middle of Yorkshire, one would expect breakfast and a very good one at that. It was not included, and was not offered to be included even when I raised it with staff. Irrespective that adding breakfast into my stay was an impossibility according to staff, I note that the breakfast was of poor, banquest style standard. Again neither of these things should be expected from a hotel with such high rates. And certainly was not the experience at the Wentbridge up the road, where a full continental spread and made to order breakfast was served. Overall a very poor and over priced experience. I would not recommend staying here for any purpose.

« Wedding at nearby hotel »

We were looking forward to our visit. Doreen rang the week before to say we hadn't been informed that they had 2 weddings at the hotel the day we were staying. We were offered an upgrade at no extra cost to a superior suite. The room was lovely and you felt you were in an establishment that could charge £155 for one night with breakfast (we are in the middle of nowhere in the Yorkshire countryside not Leeds or any other metropolis) Unfortunately due to the late check in time 3pm ..although the reception staff were lovely ...we were offered the disabled toilet to change in (2adults) not great ... Bedroom lovely when we got to it after the wedding. We went to in a neighbouring village (Wentbridge house hotel) Disappointingly the breakfast was all in hot trays ... Served 730 until 1030 ... Ok if you want to be up early but at the high cost of an overnight stay it was more like a travel lodge breakfast ??.My cousin had booked through booking.com and she paid £125 for a room in the hotel that couldn't be classed as a true double and then she wasn't allowed breakfast .... As I have said on a Sunday morning there is little choice in the area... should be nearer £100 a night and for my cousins room about £60. It's a shame ... Had a fab night in Whitby in height of season with a beautiful breakfast included in the cost cooked/prepped to order and not as costly although same star rating ... The poor quality breakfast didn't reflect the quality of the Suite! Big chain hotels need to make more effort!!!!!

    « Wedding 2nd April »

Had an amazing day on Saturday everyone we met was fantastic and worked so hard to make our day perfect from start to finish. Karen was brilliant and so helpful from the moment we booked till when she left after the Wedding. Food was better than I imagined so good and filling that I couldn't eat any of the evening hog roast as was still full from the wedding breakfast. I want to say a big thank you to the bar staff for putting up with my tipsy bridesmaids even being dragged into the end of night dancing! I stayed 2 nights and both mornings breakfast was brilliant Janice and the ladies in the restaurants remembered me and we're lovely. We will be returning for our first anniversary maybe we'll stay in one of the suites!

    « Great Value Lunch »

We meet old friends every six weeks or so and as we live in various partys of Yorkshire we choose a venue when one of our friends is the host. This tiome we visited Rogertsthorpe Manor, we were told they did a Senior Citizens lunch, so we all met at the hotel on Saturday for lunch. The welcome was very friendly and we were given the menu, usually when Restaurants do a Senior lunch the menu is very limited, NOT HERE. The hotel offer a really good deal, 2 courses + coffee £10. The starters offered a wide choice, and the mains are very varied from belly pork, steak pie to haddock mornay. The food was great served with lots of vegetables, various potatoes and generous portions. We were all delighted with our choices and enjoyed to food. We will certainly revisit, hopefully the price will not go up (too much).

« Great to be upgraded »

The upgrade ensured that we had a beautiful suite of rooms for our overnight stay. The facilities could not have been better. I wish we could have stayed longer. A magnificent building with great facilities for weddings and other functions. The restaurant/bar was very disappointing. We were forced to order food to eat before 5.30pm, because our visit coincided with Easter Monday. The restaurant acted as a gastro pub, for the local area and was not of the standard that would be expected for a hotel of this grade. Breakfast was also in the bar area and despite the food being cooked and presented well we were disappointed by the service and presentation. Reception staff were excellent.

    « Delightful afternoon tea »

We visited Rogerthorpe Manor this afternoon for afternoon tea. This was a Mother's Day present from my daughter. I went with my daughter and my 17 month old grandaughter. My daughter is vegan, my granddaughter is dairy free and I'm vegetarian. We did let them know in advance but they catered for all our dietary needs. The staff were brilliant - so helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. My daughter was initially disappointed that they had not realised that she needed soya milk for her hot drink even though she had ordered a vegan afternoon tea. They were so apologetic and sent someone out to buy soya milk. The food was lovely and plenty of it. The staff were excellent and were especially good with my granddaughter. She really enjoyed it. The Oak Room was just the right size room to serve afternoon tea and had a nice atmosphere. We had the prosecco afternoon tea and the individual bottles of pink or white prosecco were a lovely touch. I have been to many venues for afternoon tea and this was the best one outside of The Ritz! I would definitely recommend

    « Friends family wedding »

We stayed here on April the first, we stayed in the brand new bedroom block which we can only say was very comfortable and justified in being called a superior suite, there was a king sized, very comfortable lounge area then upstairs there was a shower cubicle separate WC and a large freestanding bath with TV. It had plenty of space and room, there is plenty of storage space as well. Breakfast was very good as well plenty of variety and hot when required to be. Staff very helpful. Well worth a visit. We only wish we had stayed for a few days and not just 1 night.

    « Captive Market »

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel whilst attending a (one or many) wedding(s taking place that weekend). I had to book the room a year in advance, and pay in full at that time. This should generate another few %age profit for them, but is not how I expect business to be done these days. As a weeding and function venue they have a captive market and consequently do not have to try too hard, so they don't! Everything was more or less adequate! The food, even at the reception, was OK. Breakfast one day was served and self service the next. The full English did not include Black, or Yorkshire specialty White, pudding; with portions being on the small side when served. There were sufficient people at the bar during the reception, but it became obvious that staff training and/or monitoring was not all that it should be. As a captive audience we were captive to highish prices. The icing on the cake was the 10:30 checkout! (Despite losing an hour overnight as the clocks went back.) As captives we were of no more use or profit to them and so we were got rid of. (When replying, please don't mention the additional fee for a late checkout as the rooms were overpriced anyway.) All in all, if you are attending a function you might have no choice. If you do have a choice I am sure you can do much better, at a lower price, nearby elsewhere.

Stayed on the Lazy Sunday offer, fabulous food as always, never had any complaint! The Jacobean was very busy all day serving the excellent carvery. Our room was upgraded to a suite free of charge which was lovely, comfortable & very clean, thank you. « Positive Experience »

Having stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions, everyone has been a positive experience. The minute you arrive you feel welcome and the staff are all helpful and professional. The food served in both the main hotel bar and the Jacobean Pub attached is always freshly cooked to a high standard and is excellent value for money. My trips have always been on business, but I would have no hesitation in using this Hotel for a family getaway.

« Travelled Forty miles to meet friends in the Jacobean Pub »

As our usual venue at the Blue Bell in Wentbridge was closed. We took advantage of the Senior Citizens menu at £9.95 each for two courses and tea or coffee and it was very very good. I had the steak pie my wife haddock, and friends the lamb shoulder and starters of battered mushrooms, fish cake and melon, none of us could fault it. Service was efficient and friendly and we will be going again in a couple of months. The drive was worth it.

    « Restaurant »

Food in this hotel is of a very good standard. We had the pensioners special lunch which was very good value for money, a two course or three course is available, for 4adults £32.00.i would be very happy to go again when in the area. Other members of my family had Christmas dinner there and were very impressed. Sunday lunch carvery is also available and is very good.

    « Fantastic wedding venue! »

We got married here on 23rd January 2016 and everything was perfect, from beginning to end not a single detail was left to chance, and the team at Rogerthorpe were amazing. The organisation from Karen, our wedding coordinator was spot on, and the food at the Wedding Breakfast was superb, with many guests saying it was the best they'd experienced at a wedding. The night do was every bit as good, with everything going to plan. The food at our night do was also lovely. The bedrooms were spacious, clean and well looked after. All of the staff, from management team to bar staff and waitresses were all friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much for making the most important day of our lives so enjoyable. Would highly recommend.

    « 'Yorkshire's Best Sunday Roast' »

I am well known for my family 'Sunday Dinners', apparently they are legendary, but the Sunday Roast I have tasted today at the Rogerthorpe Jacobean Pub was superb, there was absolutely nothing that could have been any better. It was perfect, the beef was melt in your mouth, their was a good selection of potatoes and vegetables, which were cooked just right, all the trimmings were available, pigs in blankets, stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, choice of gravy and all the sauces. the beer is good too apparently. The staff were so helpful, and John went the extra mile with his attention to detail in his approach to customer service. I would highly recommend this venue, even at 5pm the food is still hot, very fresh and the service is the best I have had in a long time, congratulations Rogerthorpe, see you again soon-and no washing up-priceless.

    « Our Daughters Wedding »

We have just returned from our daughters wedding, reception, evening party and a nights stay at Rogerthorpe. I would like to say a a heart felt thank you to all the staff who helped make the day happen. It was amazing from start to finish. The wedding was well orchestrated and flowed smoothly onto the wedding breakfast and evening reception. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and the food was excellent. The feedback we received from other guests confirmed that they felt the same and the majority of them said they had never had such good quality food served piping hot and all on time at a large function. The rooms were lovely and everyone we spoke to had a good nights sleep. The rooms above the function room were a bit noisy but as most of our guests stayed until the party ended it wasn't a problem. Breakfast was buffet style, plentiful an delicious. I would definitely recommend Rogerthorpe Manor to anyone as a venue for that special day.

    « Good hotel »

« Amazing hotel and staff »

We have chosen Rogerthorpe Manor for our wedding venue in August 2016 and have just got home from our complimentary nights stay. The rooms are excellent and the staff are amazing. We ate in the Jacobean pub. The food was delicious and Clare who was working behind the bar made us feel very welcome as did the rest of the staff. The hotel is amazing and we can not wait for our big day there, you are certainly made to feel part of the hotel family. Thank you Rogerthorpe Manor for our delightful stay.

    « Enjoyable visit »

Service was good and our room was clean, spacious and adequately provided for although the bed was a bit on the small side being a double. The location and grounds are fabulous and van understand why it is such a popular venue for weddings. The shower in our room was a little weak and it would be certainly be an improvement if there was a power shower installed. The TV reception in the room was intermittent but we only watched tv whilst getting ready. If we were in the room for any length of time this would have been a problem as it was frustrating. The room rate was not the cheapest and we were a little disappointed that breakfast was not included in the price. Overall we were satisfied with our stay and would return.

    « Super hotel »

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a delightful suite which was really very nicely appointed . The staff were excellent .We ate in the Jacobean Restaurant in the evening which we can recommend . The only thing which could have improved the stay for us was the bed.... Very comfortable but for us a standard double is a little cramped and a king size would make the room perfect . Apart from that we couldn't fault our stay . Thanks to the Rogerthorpe Manor !

« Lovely family Christmas meal »

We hold our annual family get together at Rogerthorpe Manor each December and have always found the food, venue and service to be fabulous. This year was no exception with a pleasant greeting upon arrival directing us to the correct room which was beautifully set out for Christmas. Dinner was served as a traditional carvery with a good selection of meat, vegetables and other accompaniments - between us we sampled all possible combinations and were too full for seconds. Dessert was traditional Christmas pudding, strawberry cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding or chocolate fudge cake - all of which were delicious. « Our Wedding and overnight stay »

We chose Rogerthorpe Manor for our Wedding and it was the best decision we ever made. Perfect from start to finish. The food was excellent, all the rooms decorated to a high standard. The staff were friendly, efficient and kept us well informed throught out the day. All family members were well looked after over the two days. The gardens are beautiful. I can't fault the hotel and will definitely be going back. Karen and Nicola who co-ordinated our wedding were friendly, efficient, totally on the ball prompting us with the itinerary and finalising. They were very flexible meeting our requirements and gave excellent recommendations for florists, cake, venue decoration etc. All I can say is thank you, thank you - they helped make our day/weekend very special.

    « Disappointed »

This was a birthday celebration, and we were looking forward to eating in the restaurant . We had to eat in the Jacobean Pub where we had to order our food at the bar. we have eaten here many times so it spoilt the specialness of the evening, Also there was nowhere to enjoy a pre dinner drink or after dinner coffee and brandy.

    « £25 for bean casserole! »

Just been here for our works annual Christmas party, it cost £25 for a main course and dessert with disco. I was looking forward to some appetising food after hearing all the fantastic comments about this establishment, but oh dear- what a disappointment! My vegetarian main meal consisted of half a jacket potato, one spoon each of rice and five bean casserole, some lettuce and coleslaw, followed by a cheesecake no bigger than a cupcake £25?£25! Seriously? Surely if the vegetarian option only consists of beans and starch they can lower the price a bit? I am gobsmacked after perusing the menu online and seeing that a cheese and onion tartlet sells for £8.95, so why was a pile of beans and a disco £25? I can buy a tin of organic beans for 75p add that to some tomatoes and you have Rogerthorpe Manor's vegetarian option. The establishment itself was very clean and well presented and the Christmas decor very tasteful, unlike the bland food. Needless to say, I won't be returning for another Christmas casserole.

« Great Gem in the Yorkshire Countryside close to A1 »

Great Hotel, very freindly and efficent staff. Hotel room did not suffer from usual light leaks which I find hard to sleep with. Very quiet. Busy pub on site but also quieter lounge for residents. Near the A1 but in the country so no road noise.

    « Extremely satisfied »

I have stayed at this hotel many times this year and have always been very satisfied with the service, staff, room and the overall look of the hotel. At breakfast the hotel allows you to take fruit with you in a paper bag, which not many places offer.

« Stayed for our wedding anniversary »

Beautiful setting and grounds. We had a lovely meal in the Jacobean and stayed in the hotel overnight. Rooms are stunning everything there you need for a comfortable star. Staff on reception are very welcoming and all staff are helpful. We are booking our wedding vow renewal there for our 20th wedding anniversary and cannot wait to stay again. Would highly recommend.

    « Great best western »

Having stayed at many GBW hotels this is definitely one of the top ones. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Room spotless and good shower. Breakfast very good, and served in the hotels pub where we had a great dinner with well prepared and cooked food at a very good price. Restaurant is obviously popular with locals as it was jammed on a wet Wednesday night. Nice place and if I was in the area again would be my first choice.

    « Best Best Western »

This is probably the best Best Western in the UK. Really clean and well maintained with good attentive staff. Set in beautifully maintained gardens the historic hotel building has been beautifully and appropriately restored and enhanced.

« DeLacy Lodge Ladies Night »

Warm welcome on arrival, check in was swift and so was check out, function suite was decorated to a very high standard. The menu for the event had a great selection and was reasonably priced. The service was quick and well organised and the food was excellent and hot. Attention to the little things make such a difference, sauces were plentiful and the service staff were helpful and smartly dressed and under the control of a very experienced professional manager. The room we stayed in overnight (9) was of a very high standard (although the shower head blew off and we couldn't refit it didn't impede our enjoyment one bit so we didn't feel the need to mention it). The Breakfast was of an extremely high standard with the largest choice I think we've ever had. How this Hotel does not get five stars every time is a puzzle to us as we have never been disappointed and now look forward to our yearly events even more. Keep up the good work, great hotel, great night, great breakfast.

    « Woken at 145 a.m. by noisy guests »

Woken by noisy guests shouting in the corridor at 1.45 am, I tried ringing reception and no answer, then alarm went off at 2 35 am ! There was no information in the rooms about exits and fire regulations.

    « Beautiful wedding »

Wow, this hotel is stunning ! We stayed one night for a wedding and were really impressed. The staff were incredibly friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was amazing, the pulled pork starter was out of this world. Drinks not hideously overpriced either. It was a fantastic day topped with an incredible nights sleep in a gorgeous room with so much character.

    « Wedding Stay »

I visited the Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel as Best Man for my mates Wedding in September. There is plenty of car parking and lovely hotel grounds. The hotel is situated off a quiet country road and overlooks some lovely Yorkshire countryside. The staff throughout my whole stay were attentive, friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome. All involved in the planning and overseeing of the Richards wedding on Sunday September 20th deserve a special mention! I stayed in Room 2 and this was a lovely large room, made up of a few different rooms. The bathroom was large with bath and shower. The room had a very comfortable bed, 2 x TV's and air conditioning amongst other amenities. Breakfast was lovely and cooked to order in the morning, Would whole heartedly recommend this hotel.

    « wonderful food & lovely hotel »

We are struggling to the think of a better meal we have had in any hotel. The food in the pub attached to the hotel was delicious & a very good size portion. My husband had the lamb chop special & said they were the best he had tasted for a long time. Breakfast didn't disappoint either, with a selection & quality to rival any 5 star hotel. The hotel is in lovely countryside setting& the grounds/flowers are beautifully kept. We will certainly be returning next time we are in the area.
