« Expensive and not run like an international brand »

The food was very oily and very locally biased , dinner dishes offered for breakfast ?and sub standard pastries. Most days breakfast dishes ran out and staff were few and slow to respond.Ibis had superior breakfast for half the price

    « Decent! »

The property offers very decent 3-star accommodation with generous amenities in the rooms. Great offer and comfort for business and leisure. However, they need to improve on their menu...choices are quite limited.

    « The most important: it's safe »

The hotel is located 20 minutes from the airport (without traffic). Check-in was done quickly, as I was with a friend who is used to stay in this hotel. The wifi didn't work, till my friend spoke with them to fix a 'private' router in his room. The restaurant offers a limited selection. Breakfast is just basic, as the gym. The staff is friendly. The room would need a deep refreshment, as the bathroom. The transfer back to the airport has been done in a pick-up... :) And most important, that's a safe place

« Neither 'Best' nor 'Western' »

Poorly managed hotel in heart of Ikeja. Stayed here as my flight, Arik Airways got cancelled like always. Some sour experiences I had in last 12 hours :- 1) Not provided with adapters despite multiple requests. Existing socket does not fit my laptop or phone. The excuse given was other guests using it. 2) No calling facility - both international and domestic from room or front desk. I was out of credit for my phone and struggled to communicate. 3) Some Options of complimentary breakfast got finished well before time. Little to chose being vegetarian. 4) Poor Room dining, had to wait long, say an hour +, food arrived after multiple follow up. 5) Understand its a budget hotel, but rooms are tiny, untidy, not well maintained. 6) Tea maker not working properly. Loose power sockets. The only bright side was the warm supporting staff. Every body supported their best to make up for the poor management. 1 star for them.

    « Budget BUT...... »

The choice of hotel was mine. I don't like saying that I made a mistake, but blame it on it being my first trip to Nigeria and I did not know better. Not a bad hotel but there is just so many things wrong. The lifts did not work for my entire stay. Three days with no warm water. The first evening I ordered my dinner and after a hours wait I went to ask for it. I was told they forgot. I cancelled it and went to my room. At about 23h00 there was a knock on my door and there is my food. On the topic of food. The hotel do not serve a buffet dinner and for longer stay the menu might get really boring. Breakfast is a buffet but do not expect too much. I eventually checked out 3 days early and moved hotels.

    « Never again! »

What a disaster this hotel is. Although we had ordered an airport pick up , none arrived. Once w eventually got to the hotel there was no explanation or apology, just a shrug of the shoulders. The infrastructure in this hotel is falling apart. I had to change rooms three times as the air cons didn't work. Both my colleagues had the same problem and also had to change rooms. Only one lift worked and then that one also broke down with no ability to repair it it seemed. The hotel is shabby with dirty walls and carpets. Food was inedible for a non- Nigerian. The buffet was soups and stews that left a lot to be desired. They ran out of simple things like diet coke and soda. Wifi was patchy at best and didn't work in the rooms at all. We had a sales conference here and although we had indicated when tea was needed, they were always late and had to be chased up. On the positive side most of the staff were very sweet and tried to be helpful. The towels and linen were clean and replaced daily. All in all a very bad experience. Best Western should be ashamed to give their name to an operation like this. Stay away!

« Decent hotel terrible service »

The hotel is a good clean middle class one. Nothing fancy, but clean. However the service is terrible. When I checked in I asked for a Coca Cola to be delivered to my room as was not feeling well. That took half an hour. Later I ordered a pizza. That took over an hour to be delivered and was cold on delivery. The next morning when I checked out, none of their card machines were working, and eventually after 45 minutes had to pay cash. So a reasonable hotel, but the service levels will deter me from staying there again.

« Good location and beautiful ambiance but poor food »

Good location, beautiful ambiance. The hotel is easily accessible from both the local and international airport. However, food is not so good and the toilets need refurbishment. Sometime, water does not run and at other times, the toilet seats are dislocated.

    « Don't bother »

After a two week stay I would recommend avoiding this hotel. The security staff are constantly asking for a job,bar and waiting staff usually disappear as soon as you arrive and after an average of an hours wait an undercooked pizza or cold steak is just not acceptable. The staff can usually be found watching TV in the gym, which seems to be the staff room. Hot water and air-con are a major problem as is very sketchy Wi-Fi. All in all very dissapointed with the whole experience

« Nice and calm location »

I love everything about this hotel, delicious buffet breakfast.. all the staff are always there to help and make sure you're safe. I will strongly recommend this hotel for long as well as short stay. The location is very central and easy to brunch around lagos..

« Good location in Ikeja. Nice room. Service is poor »

The hotel is located in center of Ikeja. Location is good. Rooms are average+/ Service is poor. In some of the room - no hot water. I changed room because no hot water. Breakfast is OK, but far from good. The service on breakfast is good but the food is average. AC in the room is very good but noisy.

« Well managed business hotel with excellent service »

Usually, I visit Lagos while in transit to the provinces. Each time, I prefer to stay with a different hotel mostly in Ikeja due to its proximity to the airport. Last time I stayed at Ibis Ikeja so this time I chose this hotel. It is almost same price as Ibis Ikeja but much better in most of the aspects. Just 15-20 min drive from the airport, though depends on your luck. Read further to know my experience. The hotel staff is quite polite, courteous and understanding to your needs. I had booked the hotel online just 3 hours ahead of my stay as it was a rush travel. The check-in was super fast. I was given a room on the first floor (Room # 117). The room was nice but it was right above the kitchen and I could smell everything that they were cooking. I requested to change the room and made sure that I need a room on the other side of the restaurant and on the higher floor. They immediately accommodated my request and transferred me to Room 322 which had no issues and was in-fact a little better. The room was quite spacious and designed to a particular taste. The queen bed was nice and very comfortable. The writing table had a nice lamp that helped me finish my work efficiently. Lighting in the room was just perfect, again a rare sight in hotels in Nigeria. The bathroom was of decent size, a bit worn-out though. There was a bathtub, but shower was good too. No issues with the hot water either. The floor was carpeted and was very much clean and hygienic. The A/c was perfect, I have seen it after a long time in a hotel in Nigeria. I had an early morning international flight so I asked front desk to arrange for airport drop at 5.45 am, which is complementary. They initially refused quoting that the airport transfer starts only at 9 am and any transfer earlier than that requires 24-hour advance notice. They suggested me to book a cab through them for 4,000 Naira ($20). However, this was not mentioned anywhere on the hotel's website. I was not willing to take a risk with an unknown cab so early in the morning and that too in Lagos. The reason I had chosen this hotel is for their quality and airport transfer service. When I explained this to them they happily agreed and promised me that hotel car and driver will be available at 5.45 am the next day. They did fulfill their promise. I had requested a wake-up call which never happened, quite usual in Nigeria :) I left the hotel for airport at 5.50 am considering it to be only 15 min drive and that too so early in the morning with my flight being at 9 am. The hotel had also sent an armed security guard with us in the car. We reached half way through the flyover and discovered cars lined up for at least next 2 kms and the traffic moving at snail's pace. We could cover hardly 400 meters in the next 15 min and I started worrying as I am very well aware of Lagos traffic, but this was totally unexpected at wee hours of the day. The driver was very smart. He quickly gauged the situation and managed to turn back at a lucky divider break that he got on the flyover. On our way back, I could see that the cars were lined up for another 2 kms behind us, it turned out to be a good move. Driver knew the internal roads very well and maneuvered the car very well. He also kept updating me on how long it will take us to reach the airport so that I do not worry much. Eventually, he made me reach airport in 45 minutes which would not have been possible had we not made a U-turn from the flyover. I am extremely thankful to the driver and the hotel staff for such an excellent service. He did deserve a healthy tip. I will surely stay at Best Western Ikeja on my next visit to Lagos. I did have a dinner at their restaurant with a business associate of mine. The food and service both were excellent.

    « I would stay there again...... »

The hotel is about 10-15 minutes drive from the airport (depending on the traffic, of course). It is clean and modern and the staff are friendly and helpful. The internet is free and works well. There is a larger restuarant and well-stocked bar. I would definitely stay there again.

    « Excellent »

I arrived rather late at this hotel but the staff was awake and alert. Everybody was very courteous; starting from Gatekeeper to the front desk staff. Cleanliness was very good. Breakfast, however, did not match the hotel standards. I did manage to get free airport transfer next morning. My only regret; they should have given me more discount since I had arrived rather late. I recommend this hotel.

« Warm welcome, Safety and comfortable stay »

The services provided by the hotel were as advertised. The staff were friendly and helpful. My free airport shuttle was in comfortable air-conditioned car. The room was clean, internet with excellent signal strength and full security provided by very friendly staff. If you are visiting Nigeria for the first time, I can assure you it is a safe and comfortable hotel.

    « Good Western »

We stayed here for a short 4-day work trip, and were overall satisfied. However, a few changes would make the experience here much better. The rooms were very nice: spacious, clean, modern. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities were plentiful. Staff was very friendly throughout our stay, and throughout the hotel: from the front desk who was always helpful, to the bartender and the guards. The breakfast was hearty with a mix of local and Western choices (but please change the Celine Dion playing on loop so early in the morning). The hotel's location is close to the Ikeja mall, which has a number of fun bars and restaurants. There is a local pub just down the road across the roundabout. Best of all, for afropunk fans, New Afrika Shrine is a short distance away. Keep in mind though that Ikeja is a fair distance away from the island, especially during the legendary rush hours. There were some IT issues during our stay: I had to change my safe three times and my room once until a working safe was found. Both my colleagues had issues with their safes as well. The Wifi was moody: sometimes fast, other times just dead slow. And there is no international dialing from the rooms as well as the front desk: if you need to call your credit card company to unblock your card, say, you will need to get a mobile phone to do it. All issues fixable, though. I would recommend the place for business travelers.
