« All inclusive xmas party »

Went to the all inclusive party night in the old park nightclub. Food was okay (what you expect for xmas party food). The drink was free flowing all evening. Plenty of staff in duty and great service! An enjoyable evening.

« If I could give negative rating I would. »

We are best western members/card holders and have literally stayed in hundreds of best westerns across UK and Europe. BUT THIS ONE IS TERRIBLE. I THINK IT NEEDS SHUT DOWN or at the very least REMOVED from BEST WESTERN badge/chain. Never have I stayed in a Best Western so bad. The brochure and website is what we thought we were going to be checking into.... However. We basically got what looked and felt like the staff quarters out the back - a car drive from the main hotel with luggage. Round the back of an industrial estate. Not lit up, not signposted or obvious where to go, arrived in the dark, very dodgy place. Got into the room 11B which was like something out of the 1970/80s. Butlins like. Damp patch/drip from the ceiling. Stained carpets. Filthy room. Undersized electric panel heaters, tiny little tv that you cannot see from the bed (it's behind you). Light fittings covered in cobwebs and other light fittings hanging down from ceiling and downright dangerous. There are spotlights over the shower that are not suitable for use in this zone... Which leads me onto the whole health and safety of the room as a whole. There are screws protruding through the delpidated cabinet that the main double bed folds up into. That's right, you have to unchain your main bed and erect it each day just so you can have a bit of a sitting area and actually see the tv. Honestly I have never seen anything like this. The bathroom is literally falling apart like it has been fitted by an inept handyman at best. Everything is loose. Towel rails, light fittings, toilet flush, taps rotate freely on sink. Bath panel not even fixed and is cracked. Oh yes and single glazed windows that run constantly with condensation and black mould on Windows frames and ceiling. See photographs. So we go to reception next morning and speak to the main woman who asks if everything was ok. We told her the truth and her reply was "oh. I don't know, I never go in the rooms" (as I slap my forehead in disbelief). I ask her if all the rooms are that bad (as we seriously considering asking for refund to go eslewhere) to which she replies "No, definitely not". Contradiction - Well if she doesn't go in the rooms ... How would she know this??? Have others perhaps complained also? So anyway we ask to speak to the manager, who at 9.25am is meant to be in (at 9am), but isn't. So when he does come in we ask him to come and see us in restaurant. Well he does, but we have to go back to reception to ask him about this after breakfast as he didn't want to discuss in front of others. Ok, so after breakfast we speak to him. He says he doesn't even know why or who booked us into that room.... Er, well. Does it matter? The room should either be usable or not. And clearly it's not. Anyway, we get "upgraded" to what, on the face of it looks a lot better, but as we were out that next day in Blackpool , we didn't realise even more problems until our return that night. So the new room apparentley worth a lot more money resembles what is on the website and the brochure (needless to say, we weren't given a choice of room when booking - we believed all rooms would be of a good standard and weren't told we would need to pay more for a habitable room). So the new room 131 had two tv's a proper double bed (not. A fold down one). However, we noticed that evening that the second tv (in the kids room) didn't work at all, it would not switch on. Could just be a duff remote, but regardless, it didn't work. An electric heater in the main bedroom is damaged and would fail a pat test (not that ANY item in either of the rooms had PAT test stickers!) - how is this possible. Still electric panel heaters in this room but a little more modern. Shower is terrible. All limescaled up and low pressure. Also the handle for adjusting the spray pattern is broken/missing so its constantly on trickle or dribble mode. The shower screen is badly fitted with no movement to get your person in or out properly. The bath panel again is not fitted/loose. There again is damp in this "superior" suite or room. To the point where the office style false ceiling (panels) are stained and damp to touch. Soaking damp. There is also dangerously a path of water trail leading down the wall dripping to a light switch. All in all a real house of horrors. Which is appropriate as it came to light that this is indeed an ex theme park hotel. Come on best western get your act together. When we complained on the second morning the manager was miraculously off sick (as he knew we wanted our money back as intimated the day before). Of the £180 we spent for two nights we receive a gift card for £100 even when in fact the manager Richard Hearn agreed verbally to my wife that the cost of nights would be reimbursed. Shocking, dangerous and disgusting hotel and bad way to treat paying customers. It should not be up to customers to highlight to hotel what should be picked up on a a day to day cleaning and maintenance regime. Nor should it be up to customers to have to chase up a refund...and when we do... Only to receive around half value back.

    « Wedding »

Place needs bull dozing. Firstly had to change rooms as key would not work, bed creeks, one of the windows does'nt shut properly, fouls smell both in the corridor and in reception near the lift. Place is dated and it shows plus some of the staff do not have manners nor a smile. Much preferred the Premier Inn i stayed in the night before.

    « Just like Maplins. Hi-De-Hi »

Staff were excellent but the hotel is aged and dated. Used to be the old Camelot theme park. Had a superior room but the bed creaked every time I turned over and the windows let a gale through. I had a colleague who was staying in one of the out buildings. His room had two singles and and a pull down double in a wardrobe. Apparently converted holiday chalets. Just missing Gladys Pugh and Ted Bovis. The only hotel I have ever stayed in where you can't even watch television in bed. Stayed in a few Best Westerns but this is certainly one I won't be staying in again.

« Very much enjoyed the stay. »

Booked this hotel last minute, didn't think it was very good when I saw the price but I was wrong. Very professional staff, very friendly and kind, stayed here on the 5th of November 2016. Enjoyed every minute of the stay. Value for money was great, had access to the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Bed was very comfortable and had a great sleep. Very quiet area. Breakfast was outstanding, food was very nice and fresh. I highly recommend and encourage others to stay here. We will be back next year for sure. Thank you for a great night.

    « Dirty leisure centre »

The hotel is fine for the money, it's the leisure centre which lets it down. The pool area and ladies changing rooms could do with a good scrub. The ladies changing rooms are always dirty and smelly. The pool are often very cold and need filling up with water. I know lots of people who refuse to use the jacuzzi or showers for hygiene reasons. The manager never seems interested when people feedback to him.

« Great for the price »

The outside chalet (The Village) allocated first had damp mould on the walls, the smell was overpowering. It had been raining all day before a late check-in. A room move to the main hotel (effectively a free upgrade, which contributed to a great customer service overall) was great. The hotel interior in bedroom corridors is tatty, the rooms are tarted up to look posh but it's really a little cheap. The price for the stay was good so a bad revue would be unfair. The breakfast is great, and free use of the great gym and spa a massive bonus. All-in-all this once popular and great hotel is showing fatigue. Doesn't qualify as a good Best Western for luxury but well loved by wedding parties. Our stay was made pleasant by the lovely staff who were really helpful.

    « Family stay »

Stayed here as a family (2adults, 2 children and a baby) on arrival at reception looked nice. Check in was abit slow. Once checked in was told that my room was in the village complex. My room was the furthest away from car park which was hard to walk to with baby in pushchair the 2 children and all our luggage. On arrival In the room there was no travel cot for the baby, so it was a good job I brought my own!!! Tried to have a shower in room but it was too hot when you tried to turn the temperature down it went straight back to hot, so children were unable to have a shower!!! The lock on our door was broken so unable to lock the door from inside. We went to the bar to have a drink and watch the football which when we got to the bar they wasn't showing it. The walls in the room our thin so every bit of noise outside and next room could be herd.

    « VIP TREATMEMT »

From check in to check out and everything in between we were treated like loyalty. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was amazing. So very clean and this is coming from someone with pretty much OCD when it comes to cleanliness, plenty of towels, tea, coffee, sugar etc. Overall it was a truly wonderful stay so much so I have felt the need to write this review which is something I never do.

    « Not Great ! »

We booked an overnight stay here on our way up to The Lake District over half term. Myself and my husband and two children (6&7) had booked a family room. From the website the hotel looked good, as was our first impression of reception on arrival. We were told to drive up to the back of the hotel to park, and meet the staff member who'd show us the room. We then gathered we were not in the main hotel but in what I now understand to be 'the village' which is a group of dated holiday camp type chalets at the back of the main hotel. The car park was remote and relatively deserted. We were not happy leaving the car there as it appeared to back on to industrial waste land. Nor was I happy that our room backed on to this remote area - albeit behind a wooden screen fence. I commented to my husband that if I were travelling alone for business I would not feel comfortable staying there. I made sure the windows were locked as the chalets are ground floor level , for the safety of my sleeping children. The chalet was divided into two apoartments - both sharing a front door - the key for which the hotel 'had lost ' but there was an internal fire door to our suite. The children were in one room on a sofa bed , and we slept in the bedroom. I could see the suite had undergone a superficial face lift to modernise it , but it just felt a bit shabby and not too clean. The wooden surfaces ( desk and bedside tables) all had sheet glass laid on top to protect the wood , but the glass on the bedside tables had no non slip rubber feet , so when touched by a six year old the glass nearly slid off the table. I only noticed this in the morning so was thankful no disasters had happened as my two children slept between the bedside tables. The bed linen on the cap bed was yellowed along the fold lines and looked tired. We saw on the website that children were not allowed to swim after 6pm but that this rule was relaxed during school holidays. We arrived at the pool after a long journey from Norfolk , with two children very excited to swim. We could see the pool was empty. The lady at the desk told us the children were not allowed to swim as it was after 6pm. I stated the 'relaxed rule during school holidays' that we had read on the website on our journey up there - but she told us it was discretionary and no they couldn't swim even though the pool was empty. Her tone and manner was impolite. Breakfast in the main hotel was good and the reception desk staff were polite and efficient. We were left disappointed by our accommodation as it was not what we understood we had booked , and the inflexibility regarding the swimming just seemed like 'jobsworth' attitude which left us with disappointed children on Day 1 of our holiday. I would not choose to stay here again.

    « Great time »

We stayed for one night i wish it was for a week.Brilliant staff very friendly. The room was large and spotless with a hairdryer, trouser press, ironingboard and iron.Best sleep i have had in ages.Located in the main building. The pool area was spotless too. The breakfast was £10 which i though it was a little bit over the top, however you had the choice of cereal cooked breakfast, croissants mountains of toast ,jam and butter and gallons of tea or coffee.Well worth £10 of anyones money. Cant wait to return to this hotel.

    « Absolute bargain »

We paid the princely sum of £43 for a room for 2 adults and 1 child. The room we had was in the main building and was clean and modern and spacious. The breakfast room also looked to have been recently decorated. We weren't expecting much for the money - it was really a last minute stop on our way to somewhere else but I was so surprised by the quality I was felt I should write a review. To top it all I left a pair of diamond earrings in the room by mistake. I only realised later the next eve. I phoned the hotel expecting the worst only to find the chambermaid had handed them in!! How's that for honesty? I was really chuffed - thank you to that lady x

« Not what we expected of a Best Western Hotel »

The hotel when we arrived looked very impressive, but after booking in with our children and dog, we were not put in the main hotel but in the small village beside it. Not a problem, as we had a dog. The room was nice, decorated to suit the kids, but the fixings to the folding down double bed were falling off and the doors had a small chain to keep them closed. The children were restricted in the use of the swimming pool, only allowed at certain times! The dog was welcome though, even had bowels and some snacks for her. I have stayed in Best Western Hotels before with my work, and it was like being at another level, on this occasion it failed to live up to expectation's, maybe because it was partly booked with Tesco vouchers! Sorry but for me Holiday Inn is a much better option for less money, and for the time being, Best Western Hotels are at the bottom of the list again.

    « Terrible experience, beware! »

I stopped at this hotel for the night with my partner while we were in the area visiting friends. First impressions were good, with a nicely presented reception and foyer, and friendly (if a little slow) staff on the reception counter. The first minor annoyance was being given a check-in form with someone else's details on it, causing the receptionists some confusion, but this was swiftly sorted. Our room was on the first floor and at first glance seemed reasonably pleasant. It was clean and tidy and a reasonable temperature. This hotel seems to be geared towards running functions. When we went to bed there was a wedding function ongoing, which resulted in a few rowdy people wandering around until 1am, which can be forgiven. As it turns out, our room had an adjoining door to the next room. We didn't realise how much of a problem this would be until our next door neighbours arrived after 1am. We quickly realised that there is no soundproofing between rooms, and we could hear everything going on in the next room. Yes, everything... all night. I'll leave it to your imagination. We had a truly miserable night, and the icing on the cake in the morning was a cold shower which also leaked into the bathroom. It seemed very poorly maintained. As we checked out we complained about the shower and the complete lack of privacy in the hotel. We spoke to the duty manager who offered a £20 discount off our bill, which was a nice gesture but didn't really make up for our awful experience. I'm afraid we won't be returning.

    1
    « No soundproofing »

Let's cut to the chase. Soundproofing. Soundproofing is a important issue for any hotel. Irregardless of what other facilities the hotel has to offer, if you can hear the room next door that's a serious issue. The room next door arrived after 2am. From this moment on we could hear *everything* that was going on in that room. Conversations, bathroom use, bed creaking and the couple next door having "fun". We didn't appreciate hearing all the details (repeated at 4am and at 7am) and I'm sure they wouldn't be too pleased about it either if they knew. It's a massive massive massive flaw in the hotel. One that shouldn't be overlooked and needs rectifying. I wouldn't stay here again nor recommend anyone else to stay here (as I'm writing this I can hear my next door cough and blow their nose, it's that bad!). I rarely complain and my reviews are pretty much on the positive, but I can't ignore a serious flaw like this that has ruined a weekend stay which quite frankly, isn't worth a fraction of the cost they are charging.

    4
    « 3 night break »

Stayed in the main hotel with wife and 12 year old son , room was spacious and all was fine. The reception staff and bar staff were all very polite , friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was on the second level of the hotel and was very quiet and peaceful, enjoyed our stay here

    2
« Village complex rooms terrible, main building average! »

Checked into one of the village rooms external to the main building. Room was very drab and in poor condition. Bathroom had been modernised but the dirty earbud left in the middle of the floor left me wondering how clean the rest of the room was! Bed sheets looked stained. The main pull down "z-bed" was in a broken wardrobe. The sofa and chair were ripped and very dirty. Needless to say me and my family turned around and did not unpack. We did complain and the staff listened but seemed curt and not interested - they must deal with dozens of similar complaints! I dis ask for a manager but he was a no show. They did offerer an alternative main building room which was bit better but small still in desperate need of good clean and lick of piant. We did stay for the duration but wont be returning. As regular Best Western customers, we were very disappointed with the Park Hall.

    2
« Village complex rooms terrible, main building ok »

Did not enjoy at all. Rooms in Village complex v. basic and dated. There are no grounds really to walk in, lots of car parks and a lake. Bed was really bad nothing in mattress. The gym is quite well equipped and the staff helpful.

    « Fantastic! »

We stayed here one night using a wowcher promotion including dinner, access to the spa facilities and breakfast. The room was lovely, bed was comfortable, shower was powerful and everything was very clean. There was a iron, hairdryer and the lavender pillow spray was a nice touch. The swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam/sauna were clean, modern and relaxing. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The 3 course meal at dinner was of top restaurant quality! Every encounter with the staff at the restaurant was professional, helpful and friendly. Overall, this hotel is ideal for a relaxing break and we will definitely be returning here in the near future. Thank you!

« break with grand kids »

on arrival at hotel we were checked in very fast and showed to our studio appartment , it had a double bed and 2 single beds nice and fresh and clean bedding and towels changed daily , the beds were nice and comfy. the breakfast was very good buffet style as much as you wanted . the staff are first class allways had a smile and asked if all was ok . the leisure club was really good had a gym sauna and jacuzzi and 2 pools the only down side was that youcould only get kids in to pool between 11am till 6pm even though pool was open till 10.30 pm and also cant use the pool when they have swimming lessons and this was a bit frustrating as this was one of the reasons why we booked this hotel even though the pool was empty after 6ish but still could not get in with kids

    1
    « Never go again »

After the hotel charging twice and after the girl on the phone was rude and had the attitude of we don't care will never go again to this hotel. The room was basic but ALMOST clean ,after we found it that is. The breakfast was cold DO NOT GO THERE

    « Worst weekend ever »

Upon arrival to the park hall, parking was troublesome. Trying to park close to the entrance wasn't proving easy. Once checked in, we went to our room (204) as it was late - room was spacious but outdated. The bed was the creakiest and oldest bed we had ever slept on! However we managed to drop off... until 1:30am when party go-ers came back to their room next door and we're squealing like pigs for an hour and a half. I finally called reception at 3am!! Who proved difficult to get a hold of. The neighbours were quietened and I finally dropped back off to sleep. The next morning I decided I wanted some food before our family party in the next village so I called down to the hotels restaurant and asked for a bacon sandwich. This cost me £6! I didn't complain at the time and took my sandwich to my room to eat. We left for the family party and returned to our room approx 10pm that day. We dropped off again on the creaky bed and I was awoken at 3am. Followed swiftly by a race to the bathroom. After contemplating what I had eaten, the only thing I could possibly put my illness down to was the bacon sandwich I had bought from the hotel that morning as no one else from the family wedding we had attended was ill. Bearing in mind I am 6 months pregnant and I know that the slightest of issues with food being cooked has made me ill recently. I awoke that morning groggy and displeased at the services we had received. Upon check out on Sunday morning, when asked if we had a nice stay I replied 'we've had much better thank you very much' in which the receptionist replied "oh OK have a nice trip!" Unbelievable. Will NOT be recommending to friends!!

    3
    « Like a holiday camp!! »

Not the greatest hotel I've stayed in. Rooms are chalet types which are a bit of a trek from the reception. The rooms were ok. Quite clean and the beds were comfy. Not the worst hotel I stayed in but definitely not the best

« Better quality and value at a Premier Inn »

Booked this hotel as we wanted to try the movie tribute night with some friends. The singers were good ( some better than others), food for a mass produced event was good and the DJ kept us dancing so that part of our night was good however the hotel is a massive let down. When you walk in it looks lovely and quite fancy however our room wasn't ready on arrival, we were told by an unhelpful member of staff that there has been a wedding the night before so lots of rooms weren't ready at our suggestion it was agreed we could use the pool while we waited although this was ok it wasn't the best and walking past the other hotel buildings it's clear that they all need exterior work carrying out. As this was our anniversary we'd booked a platinum superior suite for £125 including breakfast. When we finally got in our room it was a complete let down there was indeed a docking station, large tv, some toiletries, coffee machine, fruit ( 1 apple & 1 orange) , non fluffy dressing gowns and slippers however there was a very small bathroom where the door hit the bath, bath panel coming away, toilet that didn't flush properly, shower head that didn't work properly with poor pressure. In the room there was peeling wallpaper edges, marks on the wall, a very old hairdryer and trouser press and what made it a suite? 2 extra chairs and a desk. Give the receptionist her due ( a different lady from check in ) she was helpful and let us see another room but in the end they gave us £30 back. We didn't have a good nights sleep as we found the bed and pillows really hard. The breakfast was a buffet affair, they had nice sausages and when asked they made scrambled egg but there wasn't a good continental selection or a choice of milk and everytime you wanted toast or a top up of tea or coffee you had to flag down a member of staff as they didn't give you your own teapot. There is no way I'd recommend this hotel and as a result we won't be going back for any of the party nights either.

    4
    « Nice hotel »

This is the first time I have stayed here and I will definitely come back. The room I had in the main hotel was very clean with a comfortable bed. The food was good and the lounge area comfortable to either work or relax. It is situated in nice place where you can have a nice walk.

    5
    « Training manager »

I have stayed at Park Hall many times to the point it is almost a second home. I have always found the staff welcoming, warm hearted and a delight to see when I arrive often after a 3 hour journey. I wouldn't normally pick out specific members of staff but I would like to dispute comments posted by a previous resident about Sue the assistant restaurant manger ( to give her correct title). I find her charming and friendly, always attentive even with a busy restaurant. Having said that it seems a shame to single any one person out, they are all great.

    5
« Excellent hotel and restaurant »

Last minute meeting arrangement and glad it was. Above all expectations as the hotel reception and lounge had a good feel about it and staff made you feel welcome. This was a busy Monday evening when most hotels are quiet. The dining experience topped the evening as the Sea Bass was excellent and ever meal on our table was cooked perfectly. I would definitely be calling again and recommend the restaurant. Reasonably priced and a well balanced menu with ample choice. Don't normally comment on here but they certainly deserved a mention.

    5
    « Gorgeous Place »

We booked the park hall hotel for one night. It was £41 and we were given our own chalet. It was beautiful. There are two swimming pools, a spa, a gym, a pub and a nightclub. It was clean and tidy and the grounds are very well looked after. We didn't eat there so I can't comment on that. The staff were helpful and friendly and explained everything thoroughly.

« all good apart from resturant manager »

A great hotel, good facilities, receptionist very helpful. Swimming pool and leisure facilities an added bonus. However do not cross the restaurant manager, she persuaded herself I had not paid for breakfast despite having a receipt. Shakespeare could have found her a starring role in that play you can not mentioned. Spoiled an otherwise very pleasant visit. Will go again trust said person omn day off.

    « Very good »

Stayed in room 209. Very clean and we'll presented. Cleaning guy was very friendly and polite had a great time and used the pool facilities which were also very good. Stayed for 1 night for a wedding breakfast was also really good

    1
    « What a dump! »

Stayed in one of the rooms which we had miles to walk to, the room was cold, scruffy, basic, the bedding had seen better days! The toilet leaked so did the shower so the bathroom floor was soaking wet, a real dump, we was a towel short and we was told to collect it rather than sending someone over with it. The worst place I have ever stayed, wouldn't stay there again if they paid me!

    3
« Not as good as usual »

I stay at this hotel frequently and I like it however bit of a mixed bag this time. On the plus side staff are always great. Swimming facilities are good. Rooms are comfy and lovely bedding. On the downside the nets in the bathroom were filthy, changing rooms at pool were freezing and my bath had a plug full of long hair. Biggest problem was no wifi in room which had a big impact on me as a single female having to work in the bar. It will probably influence my decision to stay there again sadly.

    5
    « Ideal »

I recently started working in Leyland three or four days a week and after staying at the usual corporate haunts, locally, I fell upon the Park Hall. It is good value for money, the rooms and food are lovely, the staff are pleasant and helpful, the leisure facilities are spotless and access to the motorway network are first class (without knowing you are right on its doorstep). I'd also like to say a big thank you to Laurie (reception) for going above and beyond to help me with an enquiry. I hope the management appreciate how lucky they are to have such first class staff.

    2
    « Not what I hoped for »

Firstly. This hotel is away from the main town. First impression as we drove up the countryside driveway and past the greenery and lake was good. Ample parking and quite nice approach to the hotel. Nice reception area but staff dreadfully slow. We were allocated our rooms & provided with a map & directed to go back outside & follow the map. Never seen a hotel layout like it. I can only describe it as a cross between a sheltered housing complex & a holiday camp. Lots of rows of small bungalow type buildings which looked run down & shabby from the outside. Eventually got to our individual 'bungalow'. Dear lord. It was like stepping into a time warp. 80s style dark & shabby furniture. Old rotten front door / windows. Electric heaters. Tiny TV. And lumpy bed. On the plus side. The room is was very spacious & well equipped ( even had 2 showers? ! ) Tea/coffee plentiful. However Carpet was disgusting. I kept my shoes on at all times. Venturing back to main hotel we went to restaurant for food. Service is shocking. Food average. Breakfast in the morning was terrible. Dried up food lying for ages. Individual small jam jars on each table. Some of ours were half empty & been replaced back on display. Staff obviously don't check to see used / unused. No excuse as we were first seated at the table at 0630 so obviously been from previous days(s). Certainly won't be back or recommend this place. It has such potential to be a nice country hotel but in my opinion it needs a huge renovation & a shake up of personnel

    « Wedding Venue »

Well what can I say?.. we booked our wedding venue at Park Hall for August 2016 last minute due to complications at our original venue. Lucky for us when we visited the venue there was a wedding fair on, and I automatically fell in love with the venue (medieval suite). We didn't choose to have the medieval theme and opted for the traditional round tables and top tables. From the minute we asked for advice/ information from the Wedding Planner Team the service we received was impeccable. Everything was explained thoroughly, and the price was even better!! I couldn't believe that the venue sorted all the little things, chair covers, centre pieces etc etc, they catered for our every need. I never once was worried if everything would be ok on the day as they were so organised and kept us in the loop about every minor detail. We were invited for a taster meal which was delicious and made us feel more excited about choosing our menu and our day. Finally the day came?. and when I didn't think they could have excelled anymore they did everything was perfect, from the drinks on arrival to the wedding breakfast, organising a personal photograph for us, the master of ceremony, the food, the service, the evening buffet, bridal suite etc EVERYTHING was fantastic and all our guests said the same thing!! I can honestly say Park Hall made our day so special, and I would recommend them to anybody. Thank you so much for all the effort you put it is really appreciated.

great reception, the room was comfy and warm. evening meal okay and breakfast pretty good. there is nothing wrong here, its not the hotels fault that there were children running around the bar and restaurant area, or the fact the parents let them scream, shout and run around creating a mess. do not get me wrong children should be able to be in the hotel and have fun, but this was not the place for it to happen, perhaps the hotel could have done more.

« Avoid- go to the Premier Inn down the road. »

Awful awful place. The shower was broken in the first room and flooded reception so they moved me into a 2nd room. I was assured it had been cleaned but the towels were dirty. I asked if the bedding had been changed and was told yes. After a night there I am covered in insect bites and have been made ill from the "curry" they served in the restaurant. I went to breakfast, got seated at a messy table and waited 30 mins to be offered a cup of tea before I gave up and went to make one in my room. The window didn't shut fully so the room was freezing. The wifi doesn't work in the rooms so couldn't do any work without being in reception. The shower needed to be turned up all the way for a stream of lukewarm water. I requested a taxi and when I went to check on the status the staff had forgotten to order it. The lift smelled like sewers and was also broken. The best part about this place was checking out.

    « broken mattress, unusable/unsafe to use »

Not only you could feel the springs in your back but you could actually see them through the mattress... I couldn't believe what I was seeing from a well known hotel, I was so disappointed and disgusted that I did NOT even mention it to anyone. I had to get two winter blankets in the cupboard to lay and sleep on...

    « Just my opinion »

There are lots of polarised opinions about this hotel, but after two nights staying on business, I can honestly say that it provided all I needed for a very pleasant stay. The room was ok, but a little tired, staff were pleasant and food plentiful and tasty, but my immediate assessment is that they are surviving on past glories and old times. I guess it must have been quire a salubrious establishment years gone by, but is in need of a cash injection and refurbishment now. My room was ok, but I was in the main block..... the chalets off the courtyard had mixed reviews, but I didn't stay in one, so can't comment. Breakfast was buffet style, with a good selection and plenty of. I doubt I would stay here if I was paying ??

« Good stay but could have been better »

Stayed here with a Groupon deal for four nights as joined up the vouchers to extend our stay. My husband is disabled and not able to walk very far, so when we booked asked for a ground floor room as mention my husband has limited walking. But was told the Groupon deal was a chalet type room outside the hotel but it was a disabled room and we could park right outside. But when we arrived found it was the furthest rooms from the hotel which meant was quite a walk for my husband. Also the parking was only 2 disabled spaces but getting in there was very awkward and tight not a lot of room to turn round. The room was comfortable and cleaned and spacious, although one of the heaters was not working. The staff were mostly friendly although one of young chaps serving breakfast was more like a zombie seemed to be in a world of his own. Never got a smile or good morning from him. And one of the young girls serving breakfast looked like she did not want to be there also looked a little bit untidy with ladders in her tights and hair loosely tied in a ponytail. Again no smiles or greeting. Very disappointing with house keeping on arrive to our room was clean no problems but then after that it went down hill. On our second day we had gone out arrived back at 9.30pm only to find our card key did not work so had to go up to the hotel to get it sorted. When we returned we found we had no milk on our try also only one decaf coffee and no sugar so had to make a second visit to the hotel to ask for these. Also noticed tea marks on the tray not been cleaned bin had not been emptied and the carpet had not been Vacuumed had price of paper of the layout of the grounds left on the floor. And glass left on dressing not cleaned. On our third day again was out all day returned at 10pm again only to find our card key did not work do again back up to he hotel to get it sorted. The previous day we were told sometimes mobile phones can affect the card keys so we made sure that day our phones were no way near the card keys but made no difference would not open door. On entering the room straight away I noticed the carpet again had not been vacuumed had bits over the car including tiny stones must had been brought in on soles of shoes. The piece of paper was still on the floor from the previous day could not believe it. Again no milk left but we had brought a small two pints which we took back just in case, was a good job we did. Looked round it looked like all they did was make the beds and done the tea tray and not tided round at all. By this time the carpet was looking pretty bad. And the bin had no bag in it and dressing table top had sticky marks on it not been cleaned down. On our 4th day again out all day but to our surprise when we returned at 9.30pm are card key worked and on entering the room noticed straight away how clean and tide the room was. For the first time the dressing table, bedside cabinets and set of draws had been tided up with our things. It looked very clean and neat. Shame that was only done on our last night there. Obviously had different cleaners I would have thought someone who took pride in they job. We go away once a month to a hotel for a few nights and quite a few have been Great Western's yet this is the first time we have every had problems with housekeeping. Used the swimming pool and hot tubs which were nice. Ate once in the restaurant food was nice. Upon checking out went to reception to hand in key cards only got a thanks was not asked if we enjoyed our stay. My husband did not enjoy his time mainly because how far he was away from the hotel said would never go to a hotel where the room is not with in the hotel it self again.

No housekeeping (never experienced that before! Disgraceful for a hotel of this calibre). A shower that has one setting...scald. Dirty...rooms, public areas and the leisure centre. Just grubby and badly maintained. We stay in alot of hotels, this one was extremely disappointing. Would not stay again and would not recommend. There's a lot better out there for alot less money.

    « A Lovely Relaxing Stay »

Before I review the hotel it appears there are polar opposites for this venue. This is reflected in the fact that there is the main hotel building and chalet type buildings which appear to be a remnant of the former Camelot Theme Park. I'm not sure how you end up in the chalets and, contrary to previous reports, booking via a third party doesn't automatically place you out in the chalets. We booked via a third party and had a lovely room on the second floor overlooking the banqueting suite and court yard. We were a bit anxious about noise as there was a wedding on however there was no issue and the two night stay was enjoyable and relaxing. We ate out and spent both busy days away from the hotel so cannot comment on the facilities apart from to say the breakfast was lovely and buffet style. One minor irritation which happens at other hotels and guest houses is regarding eating times. It is lovely to be able to have a lie in and be able to go down to breakfast at up to 10:30. However as we arrived at 10:15 the staff were already clearing tables and tidying up around us. I fully acknowledge the timescales involved when leaving the breakfast time late and then trying to reset for lunch however we felt a little bit rushed and didn't have a second coffee to allow the staff to finish clearing up. Needless to say we went down at 9:45 on the second day !! Overall a nice stay with a comfortable bed and nice facilities - just thankful we were in the main building

    « Poor! »

I thought by the pictures I saw that this place would be good :( It wasnt - it was completely and utterely not good at all and frankly disappointing. The pictures show the front of the building and makes it look good. However, when you then have to drive around the back with a poorly maintained car park and inadeauate car parking the doubts start to sink in. To find my room was a complete mission, loads of diffferent paths and poor lighting to get there The room whils spacious and clean was just so outdated it was unreal. It was cold and i had to have the heating on full, which dint make a real difference. Thank god for the thick blanket in the wardrobe. The walk to the bar was also a mission to get to through so many paths and bad lighting. The food was okay, couldnt really complain about that in honesty but would i stay here again - no. Pay a few £££ more and go to a premier inn

We attended a family wedding which was held here. We decided to book a room and stay over as did many of the party. Although check in is actually 2 pm, with the ceremony starting at 1 we thought we would check in afterwards but when we arrived at just after 12 the room was ready for us so we were able to put our belongings away and freshen up. The wedding was brilliant and the staff could not do enough to make everything run smoothly. The food was spot on, especially breakfast next morning! Well worthy it! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

    « Not clean! »

Stayed here twice on business. Staff are pleasant, restaurant staff really efficient and provide good service, just a pity about the cleanliness of the rooms. Both rooms I've stayed in were shabby and grubby. The chalet was grim - walked from the shower to the bed in bare feet and had to go back to the bathroom to wash the dirt off! The light fitting was sellotaped together in the other room and surfaces were sticky.

    « A great visit. »

Originally my colleagues and I were only meant to be staying on Monday night, due to concerns about the hotel we had booked for the rest of the week we extended our stay here. As it was 2 separate reservations we should of had two rooms, we asked on Mondays check in if it was possible to stay in the same room all week rather than having to move after the first night. Debbie on reception was very accommodating and friendly and managed to sort that out for all 3 of us which we were very pleased about. The room was a family room, it had a very comfortable bed, was all very clean and had a sizable bathroom. We ate in the restaurant and had room service, both were brilliant hot and tasty food (I'd recommend the chicken and chorizo risotto). The restaurant and bar staff were all very friendly and attentive. We also used the pool, the floor on one of the pools is peeling rather badly but it didn't stop us enjoying ourselves. I would stay here again if I was staying in the area.

Went for lunch (afternoon tea) as we are getting married there in 2018 and like to visit frequently as we can. The afternoon tea was the best I've had anywhere! It was absolutely scrumptious we both really enjoyed it. Jane the lovely lady behind the bar served us and was so lovely. She couldn't do enough for us and was so chatty and helpful. Will deffo come back more than planned now as we had a really lovely afternoon ??

« Lovely hotel and surroundings »

The hotel is just off the M6 motorway at char nock Richard we stayed here last year too and like it so much we came back but this time for 2 nights and the hotel was packed with a wedding but the staff just took it in their stride and were very polite and chatty. We stayed in the family complex at the back of the hotel which is affordable and comfortable with a pull down bed in one room and single beds for the kids in another and is convenient to the lesuire club and swimming pools , they have 2 one for lane swimming and another for families and kids. The hotel is placed next to the old Camelot theme park and has a lovely lake where you can feed the ducks. The breakfast is buffet style and kids under 12 eat free with paying adults again the restaurant staff were great and made sure we had everything we needed. In the reception area there are display cabinets where you can purchase items like jewellery Will look forward to returning here again asap

« Nightmare start great finish!!! »

ARRIVAL? When arriving the hotel was clean present very posh looking lobby. The staff were attentive. Great car parking and very nice entrance lake/pond ROOM? Placed in horrible suite in out houses i personally would not have housed anyone who has paid in these rooms. They smelt damp the decorating needed updating. Horrible pull down bed. IM NOT A SNOB BUT TO BE HONEST I WAS INSULTED! COMPLAINED? As i had booked this hotel through a third party after speaking to the manager prior to arrival i gave the outhouse a go but just simply couldn't accept this. My family went back to reception who in turn the staff done everything they could to sort this mess out. However one member told me they was fully booked and did i want to cancel the room. Lets face it i was in no position to say yes at that time giving i ran the risk of sleeping in the car so said no but then show en email i had with manager prior to arrival. Was asked to wait. As i waited i felt it was unfair this hotel got our money and found another hotel in Blackpool cheaper less nice looking but would have got what was promised. After i asked for my money back so i could go ahead and book somewhere else was i offered a room in the hotel. NEW ROOM? The room given by the hotel after this complaint was as what we thought we booked through the third party however felt we was made to feel like the hotel done us a favour however was not the case as the room finally given was the room we thought we booked. the new room was clean nice beds & great bathroom area with heated towel rail. The view was nice. We was offered a temporary bed for our second son but would have taken a lot of room up so boys had to sleep in same bed! HOUSEKEEPING? What housekeeping? We went out for the day when we arrived even after placing room ready for service sign on the door handle there was no housekeeping done no fresh towels no clean cups or tea coffee replacement ect Wife had to ring reception to request more but no bed change just some more towels & refreshments replaced. THE SWIMMING POOL? This pool was great the staff where nice gave us fresh towels & the hotel spas are very nice both adult & child ones which was nice touch. The changing areas are great dryers for swimming stuff great showers and clean area. WOULD I STAY AGAIN? Top be honest after a bumpy start the hotel is very nice as advertised. The swimming pool is great the kids loved it & the staff are friendly & attentive. the hotel lets itself down by ensuring they dont insist the third party selling their rooms advertise it correctly. I booked a room that i would without complaint ever got however when i complained i got what we thought we was getting. I would stay again but would book direct with hotel to ensure i dont get bad room suite. I would also recommend before booking they sort housekeeping out. RECOMMENDATIONS? BOOK VIA THE HOTEL TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE ROOM CHOICE. PERSONALLY THEY ALLOW THIER ROOMS TO BE MIS-SOLD WHICH I AM NOW GOING TO COMPLAIN TO THE THIRD PARTY THAT SOLD ME THE ROOM. IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHILD THEY CANNOT ACCOMMODATE YOU ONLY IN THE OUTHOUSES WHICH IS NOT WORTHY OF A KENNEL. The beginning nightmare should have never happened & i should not have had to ask for a new room. ADVICE TO THE HOTEL. DECORATE THE OUTHOUSES & BE HONEST TO YOUR CUSTOMERS ITS A SHAME THAT YOUR HOTEL IS BEING LET DOWN BY THIS MIS SELLING

« Some good points but could do better on others »

Stayed here with colleagues for a 3 night stay. We were a large party so rooms were variable. I was lucky and had been allocated a platinum executive room which was located a fair trek away from reception, but we found a quick access route via the fire escape! Room was spacious, but carpet very badly stained. Good size bathroom with nice toiletries. All ok from room cleaning on following morning. Next day though not good. Bins not emptied, cafeteriere not emptied. Coffee not replenished. Had left soaking wet towel to be replaced but for some bizarre reason this was hung over the shower screen! Breakfast usual hotel fare. Staff though seemed bored and uninterested. Difficult to attract attention to get a drink! Baked beans on second morning stone cold. Pointed this out to two members of staff who both said they would get them replaced. Servery was in clear view form my table and are cold be as we're still 15 mins later! Because we were a large party were served dinner in the medieval banqueting suite. Food was just about ok. Some strange combinations and some meals reminiscent of toddler food. However thank you to the waiter who sourced me fresh fruit every evening as I do not eat desserts. Gave the impression that this no trouble at all, and remembered on consecutive evening and served fruit without being asked. a true gentleman! All in all was an ok stay, but I think I was lucky being allocated a better room as some of my colleagues were staying in what appeared to be a holiday camp!

    « Disappointed »

My boyfriend and I have just checked out after a two night stay. We were staying here as we were attending a friends wedding at the nearby Heskin Hall. After leaving the room at 11am on Saturday morning we got back at Midnight to find that our room key cards were not working and the room had not been cleaned. It then took a further 15 minutes to walk back to reception and wait on the shockingly slow staff to sort out replacement cards. We also had to ask for clean towels, tea bags and milk since no-one had been in our room to replenish them. When I checked out today the receptionist didn't even provide me with a breakdown of the bill yet expected me to just put my card in the machine and pay for it. What made it even worse was that she didn't even bother to ask me how my stay was. When I told her I wasn't happy about my room she really couldn't care less!!! There were lots of people at the same wedding as me also staying at this hotel and I wasn't the only one disappointed with the service. I will not be returning to this hotel!!!

Had 8 rooms booked for the week for a business course. Had problems due to admin errors which were no fault of the hotel, however Laurie at the reception was absolutely amazing, dealt with all the issues perfectly with me (the customer) doing nothing. She is a credit to the hotel. Great food, but the menu could do with changing more frequent. Would recommend hotel to all Thanks Kevin

When we first arrived we were sent right round back through an industrial estate on very bad roads potholes galore. Check was ok at the gym reception arrived at room to be greated by a 70s timewarp with a smell to.match. smoke damp musty. Phoned reception and got a different room which was hassle free. Next room was better but not great. Very very dated. Carpet stained wallpaper ripped off walls . But at least bedding and towels looked clean. Remote for.tv didnt work. Only ups were quiet location and once connected WiFi was ok. Wouldnt stay here again shabby, dirty and smelly. Need total refurb or demolishing. Asvertising needs to.be clearer so it dont get confused with the main Hotel . Good luck.

    « Hi-de-hi! »

Stayed for one night on a business trip. Arrived to be given a room that was so noisy from the air con unit I asked to be moved. Second room was the same! Third room was thankfully quieter but oh the smell of stale smoke was awful as was the bright orange light that filled the room. A beautiful reception and helpful staff hid a "holiday camp" layout that needs urgent updating. The Camelot theme park closed 4 years ago and the hotel needs to wake up to that fact and change the awful decor (70's type Flinstonesque artex) as well revamping the awful exterior buildings. A smell of stale smoke pervades the building even though from most of what I saw, it is a no smoking hotel. Disappointing for a Best Western. On a plus side the food in the restaurant and for breakfast was tasty. Attention to detail in terms of sparkling clean cutlery and crockery would have made it better. Dated decor and uncomfortable chairs didn't help! Doubt I will be returning.

Stayed one night at the hotel. Arrived mid afternoon and had drinks and tea in the bar. Fire alarm went off for quite a while but no one seemed to know what was going on. Came down from my room to check and no one had evacuated! Room was clean and well maintained. Staff were pleasant.

    « when is a hotel not a hotel »

My wife and I have just returned from a short break to this hotel to have a nice stress free break from work, how wrong could we be! . Booking in early we thought we would be given a slightly better reception than , " your room is not ready have a wander round and come back later" , this was only the start of a very different stay that I expected . The front reception is very nice and inviting but when we were shown the way to get to our accommodation via a map! that's where it all changed, the so-called village that we were billeted in and yes I did say billeted resembled a cross between the village of the dammed and a second world war German P.O.W. camp . The village is made up of a group of buildings used to house families visiting the near- by Camelot theme park which closed some four years ago and the dilapidated cells and the surrounding waste ground in which we were housed immediately gave a sense of despair I can only compare to the feeling of being on death row. when we entered our "chalet" it got even better, Drab, brown walls and matching curtains, which also had a nice collection of mould on them that would have made Hannibal Lecter feel at home, gave way to the bathroom, this was a joy! a leaking toilet, drains that a rat would turn its nose at, a sink with holes in the bowl that would fill up with water and then spurt the water back through the holes once the plug was pulled giving the effect of a sink/bidet, having a shower meant that I had to rely on my past skills as a runner because the water pressure was so low I had to run around under the shower in order to get wet!. I could go on about the conditions but I will let the photos attached speak for themselves. The staff in the hotel were on the whole pretty good considering where they worked but the male waiting on staff were far better than the young females who seemed to spend most of their time scratching themselves and fawning over young male guests and business men. The only thing I could not fault was the food which was tasty and well presented, [ see that , there was something good in our stay] That said , I could go on , but best not , suffice to say that when our stay in Stalag 54 was over we were not sure if we were to check out or start a tunneling committee to help out the next poor souls who have the miss fortune to be sent , sorry, stay here.

    « All that glitters ... »

The 'Basset' review is accurate. We booked the hotel through one of the Hotel chains, and thought it was cheap. We thought that because it is a bit off the beaten track. We looked at the fabulous photos and thought , great. We arrived at the reception in the photo. Beautiful. We were dressed up because we were off to a party. They couldn't find our booking. Then they did. They gave us a map. Drive around to the back of the hotel to Car Park 6. We drove past a nice lake, then our hearts sank. Wide concrete expanses with pot holes and old warehouses. Past a disused go cart track and the ruins of an amusement park. Creepy. We parked next to rubbish skips. The hotel, if it can be called that looked like a bad Carry on movie. Dark, cold miserable reception. The room, grubby, leaky toilet , decoration from another age. Because it was pouring with rain and we were on a tight schedule, we had no choice but to get dressed and go. I felt robbed, cheated and above all shocked that Best Western would allow its name to be used in allowing a rip off business to live under its corporate roof. The worst place I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. I have written this on my return home. I would hate to think other people would fall for this racket. Don't go there . Ever

« Went for a three night stay »

Went for a three night stay here. We had looked on the internet and it looked a lovely place. They had challets and a main hotel. We entered the reception staff were horrible and took ages to say what room we were and to give us the key. Once we had the key we went to our room which was a challet we had to drive around the whole building to get there. When we got in the room was all damp and run down. There was also lots of work were the full floor was dug up outside our room. We went back to reception they said there was a room in the hotel. We went up the stairs to the room it was like being in a dungeon. Then when we got to the room it was all horrible and not clean. We said we wanted our money back. They happilly give us our money back and they didnt even say sorry. We had to go to the last drop village which was 20 pound more we did get some vouchers and presents but that was not enough. Terrible place!!!!

Stayed for one night booked on booking.com for refurbished room arrived at 135pm and was told check out was 2 receptionist didn't even check if room was ready just walked off Went back at 2 booked in was given a map and keys sent on our way we had to drive round the back of the hotel through a really run down area we presume it's the old car parks from Camelot parked up and walked to room which was a chalet type on the outside they look dirty but our room had been recently decorated a sofa bed desk and to in one room which to be honest looked really bare then double bed in another room. Even though been decorated room felt damp. Eat in restaurant on evening and this was lovely and staff were very nice and helpful went in bar for drink no staff for 20mins as was delivering room service !! Had to make sofa bed up our selves for the children even down to putting pillow cases and duvet cover on. Swimming pool was very warm like a hot bath but also very dirty with plasters stuck to sides definitely needs cleaning but the chlorine content was very over powering. Breakfast was good choice. Overall our impression was it would be a lovely hotel if they spent the money on it. Our in our words but kind without the fun !!!!

Went to park hall for our anniversary. Booked over a month earlier .on arrival was told I hadn't paid for the room. ? .even though I had a confirmation stating I had. Were told the system was down at the time we booked. .so out comes the credit card. .asked if we could book evening dinner. .was again told system was down.just who is working on this I. T system ? We were also in the village and I have to say there quite big if a little dated. .also not good if anyone has a fear of spiders they seem to be all over. .we used the pool Saturday and was good even managed to book the restaurant for dinner ..and the meal although expensive was excellent. .but be aware the drinks all over the hotel are ridiculous in price. .have stayed in London and paid far less. .

« Please don't waste your money staying here »

We booked a double room via hotels.com as it looked nice for the price. But alarm bells started ringing when I had a bizarre phone call in the afternoon telling me there was a problem with family rooms and were we actually coming? we hadn't booked a family room and had already paid so this was odd. Anyway we arrived at 10.30pm and after a slow check-in we were given a map and told to make our way through a maze of paths to our room- not in the hotel as advertised but in a chalet that wouldn't look out of place on hi-de-hi We could not believe it when we got to the door, the rancid smell was overwhelming, the ripped settees and twin beds were not what we booked. Back at hotel the receptionist was quite short with us saying they had no more rooms and the sofas pull out!! The supervisor then magically appeared and told her to check the other system as there were available rooms on there and we were asked if we want to try the Bassett room. Well when we got there, and bear in mind it's nearly 11pm , I went a bit hysterical- the room was 'decorated' like a bag of jellybabies- bright yellow with primary colours with one wall covered in a mural of Bassett sweets that is reflected in the full wall mirror opposite, so even when lying in bed you can't escape its gaudiness. We chose to stay out of shear exhaustion but I had another trip back to reception to change filthy mugs( I was told someone had checked into that room but left and must have used the cups!) We had an extremely restless night punctuated with a large fan outside our room, the toilet cistern filling every minute (we timed it!) and our neighbours which we could hear clearly through the paper thin walls. The bed was a cheap mattress with over-used thin pillows and quilt and the bathroom had no lock- we had to use my hubby's trainer just to keep the door from swinging open- or fan. What really concerns me was the next morning my husband asked if I was the one that had opened the soap in the shower as he hadn't and he could see my shower gel- I hope to goodness I haven't used a towel used by the previous occupant that hadn't been bothered to be changed. We made our way to breakfast as we had paid for it- I really wished we hadn't. It was a rugby scrum for the cheapest quality food, juice and coffee. I also had to have my cutlery changed as it was filthy. Checkout was non existent but we were given all the addresses to make full and proper complaints about our stay at Park Hall. We noted none of the staff wear name badges and since reading more reviews it is not hard to understand why! This hotel really needs to consider the way it is advertising its rooms as what you actually get is not what is shown. In our opinion these rooms are not fit to be rented to paying public. It is a real shame as the grounds are beautiful. We are disappointed with hotels.com and Best Western whose tag line is 'rooms with personality' but they took it to a whole new level with Park Hall and I'm not sure I'll eat a jelly baby again!

« Stayed here lots - normally good - bit of a service issue at the moment »

We've stayed in this hotel many times. Generally its good. The pool and gym make it a little better than most hotels. I'm not going to give an overall rating less than 'very good' but just point out some of the negatives from this visit. I see that others have make the same points, so let's put that in context. Maybe they're struggling for staff right now. The place was a little more in need of care and attention than usual. The service was a lot slower than usual too. Both bar and reception. In particular the bar - we found the service was very slow, and it was disappointing that every single unoccupied table was covered with the remains of previous bar meals. It's not very inviting. We were going to stay in and have a drink and a snack. We went out instead. I expect (and hope) that it will be back to normal next time.

« Was very nearly put off by the reviews on here, but im glad we went! »

Myself, my mrs and our 2 children (2year old and 2 month old) stayed here to break up a journey on our way home from southport, we had a deal that was on groupon. We have stayed in all kinds of hotels from posh to BnB and i must say this hotel was absolutely fine. We read some really off putting reviews on here but decided to give it a shot regardless and we are glad we did. We had out own little chalet style room which was very clean, yes a little dated but nothing to moan about. Nice grass area on the front which had lots of sunshine in the evening ideal my 2 year old to run around under our supervision and better still for sharing a bottle of wine once the kids are in bed! The hotel is a little out the way but the grounds are big enough for a nice stroll. The swimming pool and jacuzzi where fantasic.. swimming pool was like walking into a warm bath my lad loved it! Breakfast was stop on, staff at the breakfast area were pretty miserable to be fair but that was the last thing on my mind whilst tucking in to a nice full english! Would definitely reccomend just dont expect to much, dont be put off by the reviews as you cant please everybody.. but if your after a nice clean hotel with a good breakfast and nice pool and spa then for the price you pay this is certainally good value for money!!

« Run down, unclean, rude staff »

The reception of the hotel is very modern and impressive. Our room was in "the village". We arrived at 8pm and wanted to have a swim before the pool closed at 8.45pm. We grabbed our things and headed to the pool. The pool itself was ok, the showers were a bit old and in need of modernisation, there was mould on the ceiling. Back in our room there were dead flies on the windowsills, one wall light fitting was coming away from the wall, cobwebs on the lamps by the bed, the disabled rail in the bathroom was filthy. The whole room just felt grubby and outdated. We mentioned these issues on checkout and the receptionist couldn't have been less interested (had her hair in a bun on her head). She found a scrap of paper and wrote "clean room" on it! Not even an apology! The hotel was close to the motorway and for the price was ok for an overnight stop over. I wouldn't stay there again

    « Decent stop over »

We stopped overnight here on the way back from Oban in Scotland. It did the job for us very well.the holiday village area looked a bit scruffy but the room itself was spotless, big and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.we ate in the bar as the restaurant looked a bit on the posh side for us to take the kids in so we ate in the bar which was very nice although the drinks were a little pricey

« Avoid this filthy Hotel »

Reception staff throw you your key and when ask for directions told to follow numbers 20 mins later find rooms to discover both already occupied Go back to reception and have to wait for other rooms Taken to new rooms first ok second room the worst I have ever stayed in by now nearly 10pm so reluctantly decided to stay I seriously thought about spending night in my car as at least that was clean and safe Carpets in room where all stained with white powder ceiling had all water stains over it bathroom fitting were broken and glued back together paint peeling from walls in bathroom bedroom walls had mould growing on them Didn't unpack any clothes as all draws had what looked like mice droppings in Electrical appliances last tested in February 2010 Would not stay at this hotel even if they paid me

    « Could do better »

Had 2 night mid week stay, nice approach to hotel, plenty of free parking. Hotel looks ok from outside but as soon as you walk in through the door it's pretty dated. Staff very pleasant and helpful and easy, quick check in. Rooms clean but very average and equipped with all the usual kettle/hot drinks, iron etc. Leisure facilities are there but didn't use so can't comment. Bar is poorly stocked with not too much choice but did have strawberry and rhubarb cider which was surprisingly nice. BUT the food really lets this place down terribly, over priced and very poor quality , so bad that in 2nd night went out to nearest village for a curry. Breakfasts, lunches and evening meals all as bad as each other. Will/ would stay again but won't eat there.

« Fantastic family stay. Highly recommend. Perfect base for our travels. 5* food served in the restaurant, lovely staff. »

Fantastic. Beautiful hotel and surrounds. I honestly can't say enough nice things about our stay here. Currently staying here at the moment, Monday-Friday a family of 5, 3 daughters under 12. Restaurant is of the highest standards as are the wonderful staff. Room is perfect, brilliant pool and leisure centre. Perfect base for our travels to Blackpool and surrounding area. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff on site. I recommend this hotel highly for all and we are looking too book again in the next few weeks. Maintained to the highest standard, maid every day in our room. We stayed in one of the rooms surrounding the hotel and it was perfect for a lovely few summer holiday days. My girls loved it here. We have stayed in lots of hotels and so I am able to give a good honest review. Elaine, Liverpool. Xx

« Best western park hall visit »

The grounds to this hotel are superb, beautifully kept. We found the staff a bit stand of fish. We stayed in a lodge which was ok for our 2 night break. The swimming was good for the children aged 10 and 13. Lots of things to do round and about. The food was expensive but was of very good quality. Breakfast was not very hot on both morning's. When we asked for a poached egg the waiter looked almost astounded that we had dared to make a request. On checkout we were never asked if we had enjoyed or stay.

    « Awful room »

I booked 4 rooms for family members as we were going to the 70s night. The function room was a great size and the food was lovely and it's all set in beautiful grounds but.... Our room was grubby with used tissues at the side of the bed and behind the bedside table. It was the worst hotel bed I've ever slept on. It was an old mattress which creaked loudly with every move and dipped dramatically in the middle, creating the old "roll together". Outside our window were 2 loud air conditioning units which roared all night. That was also our view, 2 air con units on a tatty flat roof beneath another big roof! One of the other rooms I booked was so dirty that my daughter complained and was told she was the third person to complain about rooms on that corridor. The toilet was dirty, the carpet hadn't been hoovered and no dusting done. To be fair to the hotel, she eventually got a 50% refund. Maybe we were just unlucky but I'm not sure I'd stay there again.

    « Great wedding venue »

Just been to Park Hall for a wedding and stayed the night. It was the best one my husband and I have ever been to. The service & staff were excellent, the food was brilliant and the Medieval Banqueting Suite was ideal. I would recommend this venue to anyone. I have only one very small winge and that was the tea was too strong at breakfast, I think there was about 10 teabags in the teapot. But apart from that everything was top notch. Thank you PH for a tremendous time.

    « Groupon visit »

Purchased stay through Groupon, great deal and very easy to book with hotel. We stayed in chalets which where a short walk to the rear of the hotel which were great for families, spacious and clean, however slightly small tv for the size of the room. The children loved the pool which was warm and open until late so was great to relax in after a day out. Breakfast was great lots of choice. Our first morning at breakfast our order was taken at the table, however the second morning it was buffet style which we were not informed when we entered the restaurant but not a problem as we soon worked it out. Only problem we encountered was our room key cards both stopped working, however this was promptly rectified by helpful reception staff. Great stay will return and recommend.

    « Great overnight stop »

We were looking for a triple room for an overnight stop. Many of the reviews we read could have put us off.......however, we decided to book and glad we did. The chalet we had was spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided in the room as were complimentary toiletries and a hair dryer. We didn't use the spa facilities but the pool area looked lovely. We had a little drive from reception to the chalet car park but then found that a walk back to the main building through the complex was only a few minutes. Breakfast was good with all the usual choices of fruit juices, cereals, breads, croissants, pastries, cold meats and cheeses, full cooked, freshly brewed coffee and tea. Friendly staff and attentive. very close to the motorway but quiet, good night's sleep. Would stay again if needed to break or journey.

    « Birthday mid week »

Just had 2 days stay, really welcoming, it was for my daughters birthday and they helped us to celebrate it. The rooms are very good, nice and peaceful, the family room was large enough to sleep everybody (2 adults 3 children). Very enjoyable.

    « Don't judge a book........ »

A little worried on arrival, as the exterior of the reception looked tired. Paint peeling etc. The room was one of the village rooms (chalet style rooms away from the main hotel building) and, from the outside, were also in need of some TLC - a lick of paint and some tidying up were definitely required. However, on the inside it was a different story. The reception was grand, clean and spacious with the check-in staff efficient and friendly. My room was very clean and well appointed on the inside. Very large bed and large bathroom - with and electric shower over the bath (a little disappointing). Breakfast was both continental and full English buffet. Would definitely stay again, good VFM.

« Damage in the car park »

On the good side we had a decent room for a good price and with a pleasant young lady on reception when we arrived on the Monday evening 8th August. Breakfast was good too. However, this was spoiled by my little sports car getting damaged in their car park and even more by the condescending young man in reception on duty on Tuesday morning 9th when I went to discuss the matter. Some kind soul had observed the damage being done and posted a note on my windscreen explaining he had seen the 'fracas' and my car being hit. He said he reported it to reception but the fair haired young man had no information on the incident and then pretended to go in a room and look at the cctv. Even I know 10 seconds is not enough to look at cctv footage. He said that a van was obscuring the incident. So I am left with a bill for car body repair and a feeling of frustration at the dismissive approach taken. Be careful parking there .... I shall think twice before visiting there again...

    « Very disappointing hotel »

This hotel is described as the saying goes: "putting lipstick on a pig". We booked this hotel based on my husband's stay at one of the Best western hotels in Italy, which was excellent. Also based on their website, which proved to be misleading. HOTEL GROUNDS All the money must have gone into landscaping as the gardens are very neat. This is apparent on arrival as the front part of the hotel looks lovely. The same cannot be said about the rest. The hotel reception area looks like it was left behind in the 80's. It really needs to be modernised. The coffee tables are damaged. ROOM Our room was biological warfare. We were greeted with empty toilet paper packaging and sugar sachets in front of our room entrance which remained there when we left the hotel. Room had a damp smell. There was a strange hole in the ceiling close to the door. Walls had dirty scuff marks on it. Bathroom floor was still wet on arrival. We moved the kids beds together against the wall so our youngest son would not fall off the bed. There was dirt behind the furniture and looked like it hasn't had any cleaning behind the furniture for years. The double bed looked at least 20 years old (sunken in the middle) and the linen was dirty and very dated. Although staff were nice to change the linen on request. Room needs updating as well. BREAKFAST Cold bacon, burnt sausages, burnt pastries both mornings. When I asked for tea, a teapot was put in front of me covered with dirty stains. No apologies. Disgusting... We were not offered any toast. When we phoned reception to ask for activity packs for kids as promised on their website, staff member asked rudely "Which website?" ....no comment Our kids loved the heated swimming pool. Please update the look of the hotel and most importantly drastically improve your customer service or risk closing your doors soon. We won't be back here again or recommend this place to anyone, especially families with young children.

« Not as advertised Very Disappointed »

Arrived to a nice big building set next to a gorgeous lake. All was looking well. Arrived to reception and greeted well, booked in with ease. Got to the lift to take us to the 2nd floor and the smell was bad, very dirty and unpleasant. The corridors are tired and worn, strange smell also. Got to our room and was very disappointed, dull and dreary, extremely basic. On further inspection there was patched up wallpaper, stains on the wall, iron mark on the carpet. Looked clean but did not feel it. Decided to go for a swim and sauna before dinner, when we eventually found it as it is not very well signed once you leave the back of the hotel. It is situated outside at the back of the hotel as it is also used by members of the public. The 2 pools looked nice until you got inside in which you could tell how dirty they were. the steam room and sauna were worse. Vacant when we went they had a very dirty feel, looked unclean and the smell was not pleasant. After half an hour of trying these facilities we had to leave as the experience was not nice. The pictures shown are certainly not what you get faced with. Went for a meal in the restaurant which had very pleasant staff and was laid out and presented well. Could not fault the food or service in there. Afterwards we went to the bar area and ordered a red wine and vodka and coke £9.75! Had these just outside the bar in the smoking area. Left mainly due to what we thought were 3 guests (but later turned out they were not staying at the hotel) being very rowdy and bad mouthed. Came back to the bar after an hour to our glasses still on the table and the outside full off glasses and dirty ashtrays. We had a couple more drinks each, which you are talking around £10 a time. The overall experience was not what we anticipated we felt very let down. The staff although very pleasant and welcoming was very minimal. The lobby, bar area and restaurant are the only thing going for the place in our opinion. The hotel needs a good clean, more staff and complete revamp of rooms and corridors.

This is an excellent hotel for families with kids. The facilities are good, the pool is very family friendly and the breakfast is amazing. The hotel looks a bit run down but for the price you pay, it is good value for money.

« Not what we expected! »

We booked the hotel from the description on the web site "The Best Western Park Hall Hotel near Preston is set within 140 acres of beautiful wooded countryside". In front of the hotel is a lake surrounded by trees, but the other side of that is the M6! behind the hotel are industrial units and old dusty car parks from the old theme park next door, which has been derelict for 3yrs and looks like something from a Zombie movie! It is fenced off with warning signs that the area is now used for police dog training. So countryside walks were not possible unless we got in the car and drove for at least 10mins to get there! The hotel is tired and worn, but ok. The staff were great, but not somewhere I'd take children.

    « Great time »

Just had 2 nights in Park Hall, we had a great time, good food, friendly staff and most importantly the place was clean. The breakfast was brilliant and plenty of it. The evening meal menu was good, best value was the 2 course or 3 course. We will be staying again ????????

    « Annual Sales Conference »

We have just held our 2 day sales conference at the Park Hall which we do every July. We found the staff very helpful and the facilities good. On day one we have one big meeting and day two is training sessions in four separate smaller rooms, which fits in with our plans perfectly. The location is great next to the M6 for all our field staff travelling to and from the venue. We hold a social evening in the Medieval Suite on the evening of the first day with a hot buffet supper. Would definitely recommend this venue for meetings / events.

    « Beautiful Hotel »

I visited here Friday 29th July 2016 with my husband and our labrador. The first thing you see is the beautiful lake at the front of the hotel, we were able to park right outside the reception to check in, very pleasant and the staff were making a fuss of our dog which was a lovely warm welcome. We stayed in the chalets around the back, and my my what beautiful little apartments they are. The gardens are well kept and the cleaners were constantly on guard keeping everything fresh. They welcomed us and showed us into our room which was lovely. Our room was basic, it had everything we needed and was very clean. I was pleasantly surprised to find two bowls and a bag of treats for our canine companion! Also a little letter welcoming her to the room. A lovely touch. I took a trip through the village (again, beautiful) to the spa. I was welcomed warmly and given a towel and directions through the centre, the changing rooms were clean and quiet... please note the lockers are £1 to use. I hadn't brought my purse but luckily only brought my clothes so I did just risk leaving them unlocked and it was fine. It was very quiet at the time of my visit (5pm) and I had the whole pool to myself! Very warm and clean. Then I had a go in the Jacuzzi which again was lovely. Very relaxing place. As we had our dog with us and did not want to leave her in a strange place we decided to get a 'chippy tea' and eat outside as it was lovely and warm. We sat by the lake with our tea and it was so peaceful, I have never stayed somewhere so big yet so quiet. Back to the room... we brought plenty drinks to enjoy in our room, popped the TV on, windows open and had a nice relaxing evening in our room. Absolutely loved it. My only grumble... the night was ruined by our extremely rude neighbours. At about 11:30pm they woke us up coming through the hall way, they were singing, banging on the walls and crackling wrappers, they had obviously lost the key and were discussing the sleeping arrangements in the hallway. Twenty minutes later I was about to call reception to complain when a big voice said "I've got it!" obviously meaning the room key and they went inside. Unfortunately it did not end there, they were arguing, kids shouting and banging around the room. They finally went quiet around 12.30-1am. It did not stop there though, they were up slamming doors at 8am sharp. As it was my Birthday I was hoping for a nice lie in but this was denied. Upon check out I was going to explain this to the staff however we were not asked about our stay just thanked for the keys. This is the one thing I feel Park Hall needs to work on from looking at other reviews from travellers. This is a truly beautiful hotel with plenty character. I will return with the hope that next time my neighbours will not be so ignorant.

    « Excellent value »

My wife and I stay here regularly while visiting family in Lancashire. We always ask for a room on the second floor if available. The room is always clean, the staff are very obliging and friendly and the food in the bar and restaurant is good value for money. The hotel is in a nice rural setting despite being only a few minutes from the motorway. I agree that the site could do with a spring clean and we've never stayed in the village complex which does look as though it needs a lick of paint, but the hotel is ideal for an overnight stop. So convenient from the M6. We normally stay during the week when it's quieter. It can get very busy and noisy on Fridays and Saturdays with weddings and special events.

    « Lacking Maintenance | Nice staff »

I arrived a few minutes after 15:00 in the afternoon on Sunday. Apparently they had a party the evening before. Some beer bottles and other trash were scattered around parking lot. They also did not bother to clean up the confetti from the evening before. I checked in and found out, I was placed in the village. Nothing like the pictures on the website. Residu of the last visitor was still in the room. The carpet was filthy and the bed must have been from a long time ago. During my stay, I had to go to the reception twice to get the magnetic strip om my card, to get back in my room. Everything looks decayed, a bit similair to the abandoned amusement park Camelot, that is next to it. A bit more maintenance of the houses would clean the place up, big time. The staff is friendly. Unfortunately the food is overpriced and not that good. At breakfast, I got some cheese, a closer look showed some dirt on the cheese. Looked like it was dropped on the floor. I would not recommand anyone to stay at this location.

« Think Again and don't Park here! »

Arrived at reception checked yes we were booked however we were then informed we were booked into the Express which has its reception at the Leisure Centre somewhere round the back, there were four of us and we looked for the signs to Express Hotel outside and there were none we eventually ended back at the first reception desk and they again told us round the back, we found an employee who pointed well grunted its round there. When we did arrive at reception we found they shared their desk with the people running the leisure centre and we were constantly interrupted with visitors wanting to sign in to the leisure centre, keys towels all passed over or past us. The desk was so small. We asked a member of the centre why is there no signs to guide you to reception and he was surly and rude saying there was signs he was talking about car park 6 not Express hotel. We got our keys and were directed to two chalets we were on opposite sides of the complex, why not together was beyond us. The chalets were basic, with a bar of soap two bath towels (no hand towels) no glasses for teeth cleaning, The outside was a disgrace cigarette ends everywhere, pint glasses and dishes all left lying around not to mention the rubbish. The glass was still there 2 days later when we left. The maids changed the towels and soap in one chalet but not in the other they left cups dirty, glasses left lying about and to top it off when we returned from a family funeral we found bedding left lying on the grass and this was late at night. We visited the restaurant for breakfast and soon found out the class system is alive and being operated in this hotel. We realise we had booked cheap this was due to having to find somewhere close to our family funeral at short notice, however class distinction was something we were not prepared for, on arrival at the seating podium the person barked and I mean barked what are you room numbers and showed us to the back of the restaurant well through doors and this it seems were for persons who had booked into the Express although due to less residents on the second day we were allowed to sit in the front part and you will not believe what the difference was between Express and Park Hall residents we had paid for our breakfasts so mind that, anyone who was booked into the main Park Hall were provided with their toast in toast racks which one would expect, however we were given out toast slapped on a plate and we heard the waitress shout through to the kitchen four express people! we were all eating from the same breakfast buffet and we could not see any reason why she shouted this only that we were not given a toast rack as all the rest of the people who were.eating in the same room. The breakfast left a lot to be desired sausages not cooked, no bowls for cereal dirty dishes left on tables, they had plenty of staff but none were trained or used their commonsense to clear a table as they past and had to be asked and our tables on both days had cups missing we had to take them off other tables. Marmalade and jams had been used and still had butter from the previous users in them. They did not ask if we wanted toast or what type white or brown and brought what they wanted. Both times when we went for breakfast they did not have our name or room numbers on the list as as they kept pointing out we were - by their remarks and actions the lowly Express people!!! We watched the maid clean the main reception area and she squirted some polish in to thin air and wandered off, cleaning done oh she did hoover a quick run around the area. We heard other people bringing the outside dirty areas and the lack of cleaning to the receptionists attention so we know we are not the minority in seeing how bad this place can be. We know book cheap take what you get and don't expect much, however to be treated as second class is just the worst and none of our party had ever come across this type of segregation in all our born days. So for you own good avoid this place even though it is cheap/

    « Cancelled booking!!! »

This is the first poor review I've written, we drove up to a nice large outdoor pond and parked close to the entrance. Upon arrival with my 2 small children, husband and luggage we were informed that the booking we had made direct with the hotel for the 4 of us had been cancelled. A previous booking made by a family friend for a large group including us had been booked through booking.com and had then been cancelled.....so my husband then made a separate booking direct with the hotel for just the 4 of us, the hotel didn't bother to check the booking reference numbers and just assumed that we too had cancelled!!! The receptionist kept going back and forth into the office to speak to the manager, who didn't even bother to come and speak to us personally.....after what seemed an eternity they then give us a room on the 2nd floor which wasn't anything like the family room that we had booked, the room was boiling and only had a double and a single bed for all 4 of us. We were also told that an event was on the 2nd night and there would be loud music on till 3am!!! Hence the reason we checked out on the morning of the day of my brothers wedding that was thankfully elsewhere. Overall really disappointed!!! On a positive the receptionist the morning we checked out was understanding and apologetic and we did get a complimentary breakfast and they didn't charge us for the room they put us in, however I would have much preferred to have no hassle and pay for the room we had booked for the 2 nights instead.

    « Family room »

Very saddened by our experience of this hotel, check-in took forever as someone had messed up our parties bookings. They were having a 'Rave' on site nd the noise was shocking. Once in the very tired looking room, the fixings were literally shaking due to the noise! The room was was dated, tired, light hanging from ceiling which was sagging and cracked! The only good aspect was the breakfast. Very sorry but won't stay here again.

« one night stop over »

not a very peaceful night due to entertainment at hotel. it was a very warm night but could not open window due to noisy extractors on wall outside. after ringing reception for 25 minutes with no one answering we went down and were given a fan which did help. breakfast was poor most items were tepid the hotel seem to be concentratimg on catering for hen and stag parties the ambience is more like a seaside caravan park than a hotel. evening meal had fish and chips was too greasy to eat not what you want after a 7 hour drive would not stay here again as was nothing like what we thought we were booking.

Stayed for one night. Was a perfect stop off on our way back up north. We stayed in one of the chalets. Good clean basic accommodation. Great buffet breakfast. Kids loved the swimming pool but I must admit the kids pool really needs to be updated the adult pool was excellent.

    « Wrong choice »

Most importantly.... DO NOT BOOK A VILLAGE ROOM if you're looking for a 'nice' place to stay. Used as a stop over en route home from Legoland. Had booked a village room for 2 adults and 2 kids, chosen because of the swimming pool, price was secondary - didn't look into the difference between a village room and a hotel room. Lovely setting, reception area is beautiful and welcoming...... Then directed to our room, which was through a wormhole of external paths around small, horrible looking blocks of rooms to the back of the grounds, with no car parking. Luckily we'd travelled light. Room was set up with a double and single bed, and a sofa bed - which was merely a mattress in a roll out drawer on the floor - which had not been cleaned under and smelt horrid. The walls were depressing brown and magnolia, concrete , bumpy effect (I.e. hideous) and a small tv. Bathroom had been done up nicely, but eat wire if the towel rail was exposed and 2 of the lights were badly rusted Swimming pool - lovely pool, but advised no life guard on duty and then swimming lessons started at 4pm which meant we were confined to a small corner (the 2nd pool was too cold for the kids) Restaurant/lounge - had to go to reception everytime we wanted a drink or to order food and someone was sent up to serve. Food was nice tho (but kids didn't get their activity packs). Back to our room, to be disturbed through to 3am by the neighbours through the wall and on the paths outside. Breakfast - dismal! Overcooked sausages, cold bacon and no choice except fried eggs. Get better from the van at the side of the road. Sorry, seriously unhappy with this experience.... Good luck if you choose it

    « Shocking »

Or friends were getting married and we wanted to share this special day with them. We have traveled a long journey and were looking forward to stay overnight in the hotel. Wedding was supposed to start at 3pm on Saturday, we arrived 1.30pm and wanted to check in earlier and get change. We were told that we have to wait till 2 pm, after 2pm we make our move to the room, it's a bit of a walk so we were at our room at 2.10 pm when I opened the room we were disgusted ! The room was very messy and smelly. We made our way to the reception to say that the room was not ready on the way we saw the cleaners and ask when the room would be ready and they said in 20 minutes! That would only leave us 30 minutes to get ready for the wedding! This was absolutely appalling! We travelled with another couple, so we found their room and asked them if we could get change in their room. When we saw their room we were shocked! They have paid 85 pound for the room which had a very ugly and old deco. The four of us had to change in that small and very unpleasant and overcharged room. The first thing we notice that the two ceiling light were not fitted properly and unfortunately one dropped down on my friend and hit him in the head! He had to complete the incident form. This room was unsafe and dangerous to stay in. The whole experience was horrible. Please see he attached photo of the room! What are they basing the price on? On the number of the room as the room they stayed in was nr 85, so overpriced. We went to the reception and ask for refund, they did not even suggest/offer us another room. This meant to be a nice celebration but turned into a nightmare. I would definitely never recommend this hotel to anyone

« They spent all their money on landscaping and the lobby. »

Finding a space to park was a pain. Very friendly welcome though. Room is very dated but has spectacular views of the air handling units serving the hotel. Bathroom is, in a word, minging. There was a long black hair with something sticking to it attached to the panel of the bath. Sealant was dirty and missing in places. Floor tiles are poorly cut and seem like they haven't been cleaned properly. At about 9.30pm the fire alarm goes off. Hilarious. We took the opportunity to move the car to a better spot and had a chuckle to ourselves about the situation. Took a stroll down to the lovely little duck pond. Sleep was badly disturbed due to other guests slamming doors and coming and going at odd times. Breakfast was very nice apart from the black pudding being a little undercooked (still ate it). The girl that served us was pleasant even though we arrived towards the end of service. Check out was painless. I wouldn't rush back but I wouldn't scratch it off the list if I was in the area again.

« Good value, great service, but the food quality at breakfast was poor. »

The staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly. On check-in they offered us a different room as the one we were supposed to be in was located away from the main bit of the hotel and we had a lot of bags and it was raining. Breakfast wasn't very good at all. They didn't refill the bacon, sausage or egg tray until I asked, and then it took 15 minutes before any came. When I asked for extra toast it took 20 mins to arrive. No semi skimmed milk either.

    « Events venue »

I have stayed here and been to events here and have found it to be a great venue, it's fairly close to the motorway, has a nice size events area and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The drinks are quite expensive, I think I paid around £4.50 for a gin and tonic

    « Birthday present »

This was bought for me as a present off a great friend. Upon arrival to the reception area we were greeted by a lady whom I do not recall the name - she was rather off with us like we did not belong there. We was asked though a number of times by other members of staff if we needed help with our bags as our hands were full. The room itself was great, good space and slept really well. The TV however would not work and had a display to press an OK button but there was no OK button on the remote. We had an issue when we dined as well in the evening at 7.30pm which seemed a little late for us - the delay was due to two other functions on that night. The offer we had from Wowcher was a 3 course meal - of which we was told this was no longer available and we only had £25 to spend each! The steak I wanted alone was £24. In the end we was given a great service and had a started and lots of garlic bread and chips to accompany our meal. The food was amazing thought to be honest. The facilities available at the hotel were good as well. There was no noise during the night and we slept great. We was disappointed with the breakfast to be honest but it was not entirely bad. There was one waiter in particular that we appreciated his help and to thank him this he was tipped £5 :) I think that I probably would come again to be honest. Just a few things need shaping up.

    « Wedding reception »

My son & daughter in law held their wedding reception here, at park hall, 25/6/16 in the medieval banquet hall. From the moment I (dad) arrived until leaving the next morning,l was absolutely flabbergasted & dismayed by the magnificent professionalism displayed by ALL staff throughout the entire event! I'm a well travelled person and by heck this establishment wins them ALL !!!!! I've never seen staff so hard working, dedicated, polite, courteous, well mannered, helpful ( and the list goes on and on) and all working together like clockwork and perfect unison. All staff displayed absolute perfection and detailed attention to all the guests and especially TO A VERY HAPPY BRIDE AND GROOM !!!!!!!! The staff at all times prominently displayed absolute excellence in their perfectly orchestrated, meticulous attention throughout! PARK HALL AND ITS STAFF displayed HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE! I could never, never ever wished for or found a better venue that could possibly of made this reception any better in any way. The hotel rooms, breakfast etc were superb. I have so many, many happy memories of this occasion they will last me a life time and more! As they say " you get what you pay for" but at PARK HALL this is not so, you get DOUBLE what you pay for. ABSOLUTELY WELL DONE & AND A BIG BIG THANKYOU TO YOU ALL FOR SHOWING SUCH EXPERTISE, FROM A VERY VERY HAPPY DAD!!!!!!!!!!!! YOURS SINCERELY AND GRACEFULLY GARY COOPER

    « AVOID, AVOID, AVOID »

booked for 1 night to split the journey from down South, which seemed a good idea until we got to the Best Western Park Hall Hotel. The room was booked through a booking website and I had no prior knowledge of the hotel. Arrived at reception to be told our room was in the "express" aka the village. Got the key for room 7b - I wouldn't have let my worst enemy stay in there. A chalet style box that was filthy, musty smelling, stank of cigarette smoke - how they can call that a room and sell it as hotel accommodation baffles me. Asked to be moved and only room available was the very similar and not much better 66b. After discussion we decided not to stay and to drive on, better that than staying in that dump. Handed the keys back and said we were leaving and they did offer the only other room they said was available but we decided not even to look. Having seen 2 rooms they obviously thought were ok I really doubt the third would have been any better. Surprisingly though they offered a full refund which I took, and it says something that they offered it without me having to ask. I've not seen any photos on their website of rooms that look like these - odd that. I don't doubt that there are rooms which are nice but to advertise room like those shown on their site then to get something that's so dated is wrong. The sheets on the bed were so worn looking they looked as if they would fall apart, there the cups were filthy, paper and paint flaking and peeling off, furniture chipped - disgusting. Avoid this place at all costs

« Absolutely fantastic, Katie on reception brilliant, professional first class! »

The hotel was brilliant, had already booked a function prior to staying, or we would have booked the function at the hotel. Katie on reception made our stay superb, and helped friends and family. Definately would go back again.... Thank you to Katie

« Tired hotel but not to bad »

This hotel is in need of an update desperately as its looking very dated. However, both my wife and myself stayed here for one night and other than having to constantly remind the reception team and the breakfast team we ordered two breakfasts and not one a good nights sleep was had. The next junction up is a better version of a Best Western Hotel at Leyland and i would recommend that hotel over this one to be honest.

Second stay in hotel - staff very good, rooms great, bar ok and evening meal very nice. However, on both stays the cooked breakfast came from the kitchen less than hot or cold an the holding equipment let it all go stone cold !

    « Such a shame »

This place has a lot of potential, such a shame the staff and management team have let it down. Hotel- As you drive onto the premises, the beautiful scenery, pond and grand building give an air of sophistication. It looks gorgeous... From the outside. The inside decor is what you'd expect from a budget hotel, it was fine. We were not staying in the hotel building itself, we slept in the holiday style rooms round the back, but we were using the same facilities as it is joined. As you drive around, it's clear the pretty picturesque scenery at the front is a facade as the back route takes you past run down derelict buildings full of pot holed roads. Location- Situated next to an old derelict theme park, the views at sunset were amazing. Looking out on an abandoned roller coaster and carousel was pretty amazing. The gardens surrounding the chalets were beautifully looked after, flowers everywhere. This was probably the highlight of the whole experience. Rooms- Old, but quaint, if you like retro holiday style chalets. The chalets were clean, the beds were comfy, there was tea and coffee making facilities. Don't expect the ritz, it's a holiday home and was suitable for our needs. The bathroom was very, very dated but served a purpose. (I highly recommend using the showers in the leisure centre/spa area rather than the one in the room!) Spa- The studio was well maintained and had classes on offer. The changing area was suitable and clean. The two pools, jacuzzi and steam room were all maintained well. The building itself was a bit run down but overall, the facilities on offer were good. Event space- We had the use of the nightclub for our daytime event. I was shocked at the state of the place and assumed the staff would be in to clean it before guests were allowed to enter. The floor was in a disgusting state- the dance floor was sticky and dirty (we had children and families who were meant to sit on that) and the carpets obviously hadn't been hoovered or cleaned for months! The dirty glasses left around the whole area had been there so long, they had grown mould. Despite asking several times, no-one came to clean it up. Several members of staff walked through, with no attempt to clear away the glasses. They seemed to be used to this sight. Very disappointing. Staff- Unfortunately all the staff we encountered were very rude and unfriendly. As mentioned above, no-one came to help when we asked politely for someone to help clear the mess in the event room. We ordered food and drinks at the bar, we were not greeted with a hello or even a smile. The bar tables and bar area was dirty and sticky, despite it being empty. We had to ask for a cloth. We had the hotel breakfast in the restaurant. We came an hour before the end of breakfast, but there wasn't much left. The tables were not cleared away (despite it not being busy). We had to ask for a table to be cleared for us (the waitress was too busy folding napkins). There was no clean cutlery, again we had to ask. We asked for tea and coffee as there was none out. It was brought to us, no milk. We had to ask for milk. We had to ask for a teaspoon. We had to ask for sugar. Each time we were made to feel like we were being awkward. When we asked how to pay, the waitress rolled her eyes at us and called for a manager. We wish we had hadn't paid. £15.99 was a lot of money considering most of the breakfast was gone and the fact there was zero customer service. We were glad to leave.

« £105.00 for two days over Bank Holiday - bargain retreat. »

We did not expect much, good way to be when you know you pay for what you get. In our case we had a shalley room, might i say was really nice and a good experience from the normal hotel room. Very spacious bathroom , nice and warm and spacious room for 4 inc two kids. Breakfast was an extra £10.00 per adult and kids eat free. we had breakfast every morning and was lovely Full English, also had continental as well. Staff were all great. In particular our friend who welcomed us well at reception KATIE. always makes a positive start to the stay with a positive. She even blagged me to bring her some candy floss back from blackpool. (didnt get a chance to say bye.. "bye -lass"). Cleopatras was closed Sunday and Bank Holiday, bit gutted wanted to treat the Mrs. Was not a problem at all though as their pool facilities were excellent, better than some 5 stars we have been in. Very Child friendly in the whole hotel. 5 stars for that. PictureEsq scenery and lake - super photo oppertunities on a nice day. ample car parking space at the back. Boys and i even played 30 mins passing football on the car park after breakfast checkout - just to digest our food. Overall if your children like mine are around 7 and 6 and love swimming and you want to treat them to something like blackpool or southport. This is a very good hotel inbetween.. Plenty of places to eat. we searced around and went to this stunning indian restuarant called "Rivaj" never quite made it to this italian that looked good and off course plenty of pubs. Apart form breakfast which was excellent buffet style full english available and very pleasant seating arrangements. If you go on the bet western website you can see that this hotel is situated on some very old skool grounds. very picturesque good for walkers.. If your a get up and go family and can get yourself about this is the place for you. so far the most best value break i have had to date.

« Great potential, however staff really let it down »

Gave this hotel a try as it looked very welcoming from what we saw online, a great welcome with great food served at dinner along with a really fitting room which felt very homely. However we booked for dinner.... we arrived to be told they hadnt been informed of our booking which wasnt a problem until the 'manager' sue was very unwelcoming and made us feel bad for wanting to dine in there. We sat at a table without glass and within a minute of sitting we were rushed into our order. I told the lady (sue) that we werent ready to order only for her to inform us that we needed to order or our food would be delayed due to a big party. Keep in mind we hadnt had our drinks order taken yet. There is a way of saying certain things and that definitely wasnt how you approach things. Staff continued to speak to each other and gossip right next to our table all night which felt very awkward. And to top it off a lady cleared a glass that we hadnt finished drinking, we said we hadnt finished with the drink so she gave the glass back... after she had put her finger in it. After our experience we felt we didnt want to go through it again and avoided going down for breakfast at all costs and left early to dine somewhere else. Overall a very nice hotel but cant help but feel the staff really do let it down.

    « Hi-de-hi/Butlins/ carry on camping »

I booked this in a rush and really wished I'd read the reviews first. So the hotel is on the same land as an abandoned theme park which sets the scene straight away. Reception area and main building look great. That's as good as it got. I got my outdoor key and my indoor key. I knew there was a rabbit off somewhere when this happened. I was in 85B. It's basically a Butlins style shally setup. Fag ends all over the place outside, aircon units buzzing away outside. I get into my room and I'm instantly brought back home. Not my home now, my home in the late 80's when I wasn't even 10 years old (see the attached images). The whole thing hasn't been updated or had money spent on it in decades. And it shows. Wallpaper ripped/ missing, chipped, dented and damaged cupboards/ cabinets. The heater/ radiator had an imprint of a pair of pants etched onto it!! Having said that, it was clean-ish. Some crumbs on the desk and stains on the carpet. The room had good wifi and an LED tv. However, I had to tune this in before I could watch any channels. The bed base looks like it's been there since the 80's too. Very ropey and near collapse. Mattress had seen better days too. If there was two in this bed, we'd be sharing the middle because it just sunk as soon as you lay on the bed. There was a function on that night and I had to keep my windows closed but still, all I could here was 'THUD THUD' silence, 'THUD THUD THUD'. It was what I'd image sleeping above a nightclub is like. Overall, avoid at all costs, if I'm in this area again and this is the only hotel available, I'll kip in my car. As for best western, I thought they had a good reputation, I now know better. Put your hand in your pocket and either bring those 'village' rooms into this century or flatten the lot and start again

« Hen Party Stay Over »

Booked through Angie on the events team - 10/10! Angie was more than accommodating with our booking. We had the Eccleston Suite for Afternoon Tea, the staff let us decorate the room the night before and literally bent over backwards for us. All the ladies commented on how lovely and fresh the afternoon tea was, it was served by the Duty Manager and a team of waiters who couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. Between afternoon tea and the party night we had booked we made full use of the leisure facilities, pool, hot tub, spa etc. For the evening we booked onto one of the hotels party nights and t his was perfect for a hen party! Everyone was up dancing and the food was good. We had the lodges which where practical for a hen party as we could cater for more people in the lodges. Slight issue with a few ants but nothing a spray of hairspray didn't sort out. Again staff sorted this once we had left the room for the party night and it was sorted by the time we got back. Breakfast the next day was great! Lots of choice, quality was good and the team of waiting on staff where very polite and helpful. I would happily go here again and recommend it for anyone else to use.

    « English in Yorkshire! »

Great a hotel which provides employment for local people, this made the stay worth while. Good location for exploring Yorkshire, good room and lovely staff. Breakfast time was very busy, the staff did not have the training to provide the best service, but all staff were polite and were trying hard. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was excellent value and the food was lovely and well presented.

    « Ok, I suppose »

The room was clean, the staff did try and there were some positives - nice lake, reasonable price, friendly staff...did I say that already?! If you need a stopover on route somewhere else and you can get a cheap room it's ok, I suppose. The room did remind me of Butlins chalets of yesteryear, it smelt a bit damp and the shower seemed to have two settings, cold or freezing, but there was a certain charm about it. So much so I feel uncomfortable being negative, the staff did try hard...did I say that already ?!! I'm trying to find positives, I really am! The bed was very comfortable ! I was irritated however on arrival trying to find the entrance - the sign for the paintball centre on the driveway in seems to have priority over any hotel signs. I'd driven a long way but even so the signage was poor. Likewise the carparking wasn't idiot proof either so I just abandoned it and hoped for the best, all worked out ok as ample free parking. Breakfast was included but like dinner the night before, tasteless and on balance a waste of calories, best avoided. Bottle of house wine £18 so not too bad for a hotel. Not sure about food prices as we were there for a 'disco through the ages'. Unfortunately someone forgot to tell the dj it was a theme night...not a lot of disco music and I suspect if you went on 80s night/ any other theme night his play list would be the same. My favourite moment was when I asked if the coffee was filter or instant. I asked two members of staff and got the same response "I'm not sure, it comes out of a machine. You have to press a button". Did I say the staff were nice?!! All in all, ok, I suppose.

    « Disjointed accomodation »

This hotel has chalet type rooms separate to the main body of the hotel. Quite a walk from the reception area but close to the leisure facilities. The rooms are lined up 'chalet style' with parking on a piece of wasteland at the back. The layout was very much in the style of the old Butlins, however my room was nice. A very large bed, tv, tea and coffee facilities and a large bathroom. There were a couple of wedding parties in the hotel so it was extremely noisy until the early hours. Breakfast was £10 extra and was plentiful and hot. Overall bar prices in the hotel were slightly cheaper than i woild have expected to pay. Check in staff were helpful and polite.

    « Good deal »

We stayed here for one night with a Living Social Deal (one night stay was around £50 for a double room with a free bottle of prosecco if you dined in the restaurant and breakfast the next day was included). Despite being a mix up with the booking (I phoned up to book a date/redeem the voucher and when we turned up they had no booking for us) the staff sorted it out for us with minimal fuss. The room was nice and a really decent size and we checked out the free leisure facilities which were good- pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and the hotel has really picturesque surroundings. The restaurant was nice- lovely food and big bottle of prosecco although we were both disappointed with the desserts which tasted very bland and microwaved- I'd just recommend going for a starter and main instead! The breakfast was also nice- as much as you wanted to eat with a good variety of cooked breakfast, cereal, fruit, pastries etc etc.The only bad thing was that the hotel was absolutely freezing- inside the rooms it was fine as you could turn the heater on but the corridors, bar, reception and restaurant were unbelievably cold! Apart from that, no other complaints!

    « What a Deal »

We had a 4 night stay at the Park Hall Hotel courtesy of Secret Escape. we got dinner bed and breakfast included, full use of the leisure/spa facilities. This Hotel was perfectly located for walks and various free local attraction. Heskin Hall, Liverpool Castle Replica, Astley Hall and Southport, After a long day walking in the beautiful sunshine we relaxed with a swim, Jacuzzi and steam room before going to the restaurant for a well cooked two course meal with a free bottle of prosecco. The rooms were spacious and well equipped, if a little too warm, the hotel had free wifi and the staff couldn't do enough for us. we were made to feel very welcome.

We had a nice room, everything we could have wanted. Clean. Nice to have picnic table outside. Swimming pool was warm and lovely. Staff were friendly. Sat navigation didn't quite take us to hotel so we had to ring hotel direct to get there. Peaceful setting. Nice

« Nice Hotel, Poor Customer Service and beware of the entertainment »

We eventually found the hotel as the direction on the confirmation form were out of date. Our room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed tea in the bar area and went to see friends When we got back at around 11.30pm we returned to our room only to find all we could hear was the constant sound of a nightclub. We approached reception who told us we were on the wrong side of the hotel but as it was full we would have to endure the noise till 1.30am. Which was exactly what we had to do. We were so annoyed that it took another 30 minutes to get off to sleep. We complained at checkout and received an apology and some days later after an exchange of emails we received a partial refund, but it still left a nasty taste. The customer service needs improving so that the needs of the customer are put before profit. We will certainly look very carefully before booking with this chain again.

« Checked in, went to room, checked out! »

After looking at pictures via the internet we were most horrified at the actual reality of the hotel when we arrived. We were directed round the back of the hotel over derelict car parks to what they called the village complex. It was like the place that time forgot. The chalet was scruffy tired and I'm not even sure any amount of money could update them. They could really do with knocking down. We asked to see a room within the main hotel that wasn't much better, it was old smelly and drab. We promptly checked straight out and booked into another hotel. I warn anyone looking at this hotel not to be fooled by the photographs as they couldn't be further from truth and very unfair for unsuspecting families booking over the internet.

    « A night away! »

It's a shame about the derelict theme park, however, this didn't hamper our stay in any way. The main hotel and reception are lovely as you would expect. The village complex where we stayed was a little tired and there was some repair work being carried out on the walkway just by the leisure complex. Our room was 15b and was perfect. Lovely big bathroom and bedroom and separate living area with a double sofabed made up for the children. The leisure complex was very good as it had 2 pools, a lagoon style which was like walking into a warm bath and another 'swimmer's' pool behind it. Two spa baths, 1 for families and a sauna and steam room to enjoy too. The highlight for us though was the food. We had our evening meal in the Brooke's restaurant and it was fantastic! 5star all the way, so massive compliments to the chef!! The staff were all very friendly and helpful too. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a cheap and cheerful escape away.

    « Awful!! »

Me and my partner booked to stay on the 28/05/16 on arrival the exterior of the hotel didn't look that nice but the pictures of the rooms showed on booking.com were extremely modern. Only when we arrived at what I'd call a bed sit the wall paper was peeling off the wall there were holes on the walls where somebody has obviously taken a rail out, the bed was sunken in in the middle, stains all over the pine furniture, to make it worse somebody had obviously used the toilet before our arrival to which they left skid marks, we then complained to reception who offered us a newly refurbished room, which seemed as though it hadn't been cleaned and the previous guests emptied the remains of their rubbish bin outside the door, we demanded a refund and went to stay at another hotel, my advice to future guests is to pick another hotel.

    « Wasted opportunity? »

The concept here is very good and given the rates I would stay again but really there are a lot of issues that are created by poor or a lack of management. I'll try to summarize my thoughts. The reception and bar area look very impressive but the bar prices are high for the area and there is no table service ? it operates like a pub. At times the staff walked around the bar several times trying to find a home for plates of food and at other times people were heard complaining about slow service. The bar was not staffed all the time and it was possible to wait at the bar for several minutes to be served without seeing anyone who could help take an order. The restaurant is nice and the food good but the evening a la carte prices are a bit high. The ?table d' hote? menu is good value. The Pool/spa looks nice but upon closer inspection there is a lack of maintenance, the ?lagoon pool? looks tired and the waterfall is not working. The lagoon pool is , if anything, too hot ? it must cost a fortune to heat. At busy times there appears to be a policy of making hotel guests wait to enter due to ?health and safely? but oddly the same concerns do not apply to members who are free to enter. Nobody at the hotel was able to address this anomaly? The bar in the spa is no longer in operation. The hotel is made up of a number of buildings and it is not possible to walk between them without going outside. This is not really an issue on a warming spring day but on a cold wet night it would be miserable. We stayed in a ?village room? which appears to be converted from a bungalow type home. There were 2 rooms in the unit accessed by an exterior type front door. Directly outside was a very noisy refrigeration compressor. To be fair once the exterior door and the room door were closed the noise was not intrusive but we could hear the beat from the music in the nearby function suite and the banging of the doors where our near neighbours came and went. The rooms were nonsmoking but the hallway it is not and this hall used as a smoking area by the people in the next room. There was good free Wi-Fi in the main building but we could not use it in our room. The room itself had been recently refurbished but the work especially in the bathroom was of a ?DIY? standard and should be so much better. The room got very warm and there is no AC. The bed was comfortable. There does not appear to be a bellman on duty and when checking in its easy to unload the bags from the car at reception. My wife asked for help but as there was nobody readily available she asked if there was a trolley we could use instead. She was offered one by the door but it fell in bits as she tried to move it. Once inside with our bags we checked it but then the receptionist suggested we re-load the car and drive right around the back of the building to get to the room. ? While there we got talking to other guests who had suffered restaurant reservations cancelled at short notice and others complaining about tatty rooms. I am not an hotelier so I cannot suggest how the management might improve what they do here but I recommend somebody takes control before more people are disappointed.

« Lovely staff shame about the hotel »

In the grounds of a defunct amusement park this hotel struggles. The main building was adequate but the majority of the accommodation was in a euphimistically named village. Depressing ranks of badly stuccoed huts in the style of a fifties holiday camp. Dreadful beds, stank of smoke etc. We did get moved to a slightly better room as did our friends, we were in the area for 2 nights for a wedding locally. Thankfully not staying any longer. Breakfast was ok , evening meal a disaster. The staff were as helpful as possible and very friendly , sadly they could do nothing about the buildings which quite frankly need bulldozing . Oh and the free wifi in every room only worked in reception. This was obviously once a good place to visit.

« Impressive reception, shame about the chalet! »

On arrival I was impressed by the by the reception area and staff but was soon to be disappointed by the drive to park behind our room which I hadn't realised was a chalet. The drive to the car park was full of large holes, the car park also had holes in it and I felt like I had stepped through a time portal back to the sixties to Pontins Holiday Camp! The chalet/village accommodation was part shared with another family who were probably very nice but didn't come in until after midnight and banged doors, (not their fault as the doors were designed that way), the children ran around in their room and we could hear every sound. The bed was very comfortable and the guest tray was well stocked with biscuits and packets of coffee etc: The room was clean and the bed was huge. The shower was useless and I gave up on it eventually. It was a reasonable price but I was disappointed and had expected a better room. Didn't use any of the other facilities so can't comment. Probably good for families with children but I wouldn't stay there again I'm sorry to say.

    « Our perfect wedding!! »

Well a week ago today me and my husband had our wedding at park hall. It was a fantastic day and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Huge special thanks to sue for helping all the way up to our big day then to Jamie for making our day run so smoothly and making sure we were ok and happy throughout the day. Also to Katie on reception who was so warming and genuine, she was a good laugh and kept me the bride calm. Our day was everything we had dreamed off. Perfect weather for photos by the lake and the food well is fantastic as always at Park hall as we visit often. Our bridal suite was decorated with rose petals and we had champagne. The only thing I would change is that the day went to quick. But again a huge thanks to all the staff at Park hall. We will hopefully see you again for another function. ??

We stayed here as a family of three for three nights, we found the hotel to be welcoming and the staff helpful, we enjoyed the leisure facilities. Got to be careful not to go to the pool when swimming lessons are on (mon, wed, Fri) but reception told us in advance thankfully. Nice area, Shame about the closed Park as you drive to the hotel but it didn't effect our stay.

« Wedding reception would definitely recommend »

Had my wedding at park hall on sat 21st may and it was amazing. Angela was great at helping organise our big day and they could not have been more helpful or accommodating. The room looked perfect when we walked in. The staff were great all very friendly can't thank you all enough for making our day so special. The honeymoon suite was amazing also thank you so much

    « Unexpected hospitality »

At first glance this hotel can seem a bit confusing, set in a great location overlooking a lake, but the adjacent theme park (closed down) drags the area down. Hotel rooms are a mixture of fairly standard within main building and chalet type in the adjacent village. The slightly run down feel is off set by the lobby area which is very pleasant and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. The restaurant food however stands out as the reason to keep coming back. Well for me anyway

    > Our family room was lovely - we have 3 children so we had a room with a double for me & my partner, a single for our two older children to top/tail in then a travel cot for our youngest so they definately accommodated us to their highest standard. > The staff are lovely, cant knock them for anything, always asking if we was ok, etc. > Food is delicious if you decide to have breakfast.

    « Great Hotel »

I have stopped here a few times now. It is pretty close to both motorways i use. Staff are very helpful and friendly. I have been stopping in the village of late, which i prefer, as it is closer to the included in the price, extensive leisure centre with pool gym etc. Evening food is good, and so is the breakfast.

    « Stop over »

Sadly I will be very critical on this one. First the positives. This place was fairly priced on tariff and the room was clean l, well stocked with coffee and tea. Check in and check out were smooth. Now the negatives. The place is close to M6 but to get there is not straight forward. The doors in the room made a lot of noise. The bathroom door did not lock. The bathroom had a bit of the odour. Basically the suite we stayed in was an old staff quarter and likewise all the suites are of the same layout. Breakfast was over priced. If I would stop over again it would be only if I need one in that area. I feel it was fairly priced but the quality certainly needs improved.

    « Amazing »

My partner and I have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and must say we really enjoyed our stay. The only complaint we would have is the room never had air conditioning which I know usually would not matter but it was really warm at night. Hotel overall though we would definitely recommend nice clean hotel friendly staff lovely pool area. Food wise all we had at the hotel was our breakfast as there is a lot of pubs etc in the area which the ones we tried were really nice.

« Wedding Venu in Medieval Suite »

We attended a wedding reception in the above suite as evening guests and although very happy for the newly wedded couple, I feel that I have to make a couple of comments about the place itself. The function was held as stated in the Medieval suite, which is basically a small hall decorated to look like it is very old. There was ample room for the 100 or so guests to be seated comfortably without being on top of each other although I would not advise any more that about 120 people in this hall. The bar is at on end, down a flight of stone steps that appear to me to be almost dangerous once the party was in full swing and the alcohol had begun to take effect. I would not advise anybody who has walking issues to use these facilities. The DJ was placed at the opposite end to the sunken bar and the dance floor was of a good size with the sound of the music reaching all corners of the hall, quite good acoustics really. Prices:- I have no idea how much this hall costs to hire, but can only assume that it must be quite cheap because of the staggering beer and wine prices. A small (not very nice) glass of wine and a pint of diet coke (mainly ice) came to £9.80! This was served by a well dressed barman who seemed totally indifferent as to whether he would serve us at all. We joined some friends at a table and soon it was our round again, I bought a bottle of down market white wine for £18 and had to insist that the bar man served the bottle in an ice bucket, he was most put out when he had to go and find one and was upset again when I asked for 4 glasses. I feel that this venue is more suited for the corporate market as prices are very high and service seems to be wanting. I also think that this whole "resort" is very tired and may not be here for many years to come, the theme park, Camelot that is on the same grounds has already closed for business. Over all I would choose this venue only after looking very hard at other local places and then probably only as a last resort. Sorry Park Hall, but there it is.

    « Lovely family break »

Fantastic relaxing break for me and the family, stayed in the village and the room was modern, spacious and very clean, the kids really enjoyed the leisure facilities, the restaurant was a little expensive so we ordered room service which was a lot more reasonable, breakfast was lovely too and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, great value for money will be staying again.

« Good value in a unique location (at the moment) »

I stayed here for a period of one night while on business in the area. The hotel used to be the "holiday village" for the now abandoned theme park that is next door. The theme park is still there will old roller coasters reaching into the sky and lots of condemned buildings. Driving in past the old remains of the entrance and its all looking a bit sorry with lots of vandalism, its sad to see a place that many people enjoyed looking as it does.....However it looks like this will turn into homes at some point. The hotel itself is easy to find and located close to Chorley and the main routes. On arrival you drive along past a nice lake and then there is a grand entrance area with a big bar and restaurant. The site is huge with accommodation in the main building which is slightly more expensive or outside the main building in chalets. I opted for main building when booking. The room was pretty big, nice big bed, decent enough bathroom but it was started to look a little tired the place is still themed and did have that "holiday camp" feel to it in parts. Also there was a bit of noise during the night but didn't keep me awake too much. Breakfast wasn't too bad, Wi-Fi was good and staff seemed friendly enough. I would stay again if in the area and it was pleasant enough.

« Maintenance needs to improve »

We asked to be moved from the first room as a large shower head fell off the wall as I was having a shower. The second room had no water pressure at all and the duty manager responded to our complaint by telling us that! HOWEVER the General Manager was brilliant and took our complaint the next morning, very seriously. He immediately called Maintenance, he offered a reduction on the cost of the room and organised breakfast for us, even though it was passed breakfast time. He restored my faith in slightly tired hotels and I'll go back again sometime. Well done The GM

    « Friendliest staff »

Just had a two night stay in a villlage room. Well equipped chalet type accomodation. Fabulous breakfast and an extensive choice of dinners and bar snacks available. Spa area clean and wheelchair friendly. The thing we enjoyed most about our stay was the hospitality we were shown. The staff were the friendliest i have come across, and went the extra mile catering for all our needs. A massive thank you to Katie on reception, we will be booking again for sure

    « best? »

I asked for a quiet room which I was kindly given. The room was lovely. Very spacious. Bed was very comfortable. The shower was lovely. The food was very overpriced and not even that good. 6 chips and a small fish for £15.00 to give you an idea. We found a Tesco café about a 10 minutes drive away so decided to eat there instead. Much better. There is also a toby carvery about 5 minutes away. The breakfast on the first day was served to us. So we had to tell the waitress what we wanted. The second day was self service which was much better. However the third day was back to being served. I was asked what I would like I said 4 hash browns....to which I received a look and the comment of...FOUR hash browns? oh my....I said give me a second to finish...and beans please, As a vegetarian there wasn't much else hot food wise. The woman then looked quite sheepish. I didn't use the gym or the pool. This stay was booked through work. The reception staff were very friendly.

« Park hall express awful. »

We stayed in a budget room in the park hall express part of this hotel, the main hotel was beautiful the express part not so good .I booked a budget room so didn't expect anything spectacular but just because it's budget it should still be clean. The room wasn't clean there was stains all over the carpet, the bed sheets were stained ,the kettle was disgusting with mucky marks all over it,and in the bathroom there was dried blood on the wall as for the bath it was that dirty we didn't have a bath or shower it was disgusting and disappointing, definatly wouldn't recommend or stay in the express part again. Was woken at 12 by very very drunken noisy individuals in room next to us who was singing and shouting till 3am there was 4-5 sleeping in that room ,couldn't call anyone as Theresa's no numbers to ring very disappointing.

« Great value, dog friendly rooms! »

We stayed here as part of a long, tedious, Easter drive to Aberdeen. This hotel used to cater for the 'Camelot ' theme park (now closed). It has a large number of chalets, which have large family rooms. Dog bowls and snacks were provided. The cost was £69 for fsmily plus £10 for the dog . Great value.

My partner arranged a visit over the easter weekend, the hotel is situated near the motorway with easy access to the area. On the drive into the hotel the immediate area has a lovely view, of the loch and hotel itself.on arrival Inside the main reception area there was a warm greeting from the staff in attendance who where polite and knowledgeable in what they where doing given that the hotel seemed busy We where on the second floor , the room was lovely with adequate tea & coffee, water and toiletries ect.the bed very comfy Dinner in the hotel was very nice as was the buffet breakfast with plenty of space around the bar to accommodate all guests.nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We used the leisure facilities again staff were very good explaining everything we needed to know Our overall experience here was great

Just returned from a two night stay at this hotel with my sister who suffered a massive stroke last November and as been left wheelchair bound.I booked three rooms for us and four friends to have a girlie weekend away and am so glad I chose this hotel.I am 53 and have travelled around England and many other countries abroad but can honestly say this hotel topped the lot. The staff were the friendliest ever maintenance chalet maids restaurant and reception especially. Food was to a high standard breakfast and evening meals all fresh and beautifully prepared.Excellent value for money. Will 100% be returning.

    « Never again! »

We booked at this hotel via another booking website, the pictures of the grounds, hotel and rooms looked perfect for what we needed ,very nice and this hotel has a pool for the kids. My wife booked a room on the assumption that we would be getting a room like the one in the photographs they advertised. We requested 1 double bed, 2 singles and a travel cot and a room on the lower floor to make it easier with the pram. The 'main' hotel is VERY plush and smart giving a good impression of the company, the reception staff were very helpful and gave us a map to where our room was. Our room was in the leisure part of the hotel. To get there we had to drive around the grounds, past what could be best described as an industrial part to the car park. If you need to drive to Car Park 6 I strongly recommend a 4x4 as the service road is potholed to H***. The 'room' was a chalet room (not expected) and not kitted out as we requested, what we got was 1 double, 1 single, the travel cot and a sofa bed. We called the reception and got a Z bed but that's still not a single. The extra duvet got for us had a tear in the cover. The room has been redecorated but the job seemed a rushed job, the curtains weren't properly fitted so when you pulled them closed the far end moved, the blind on the door was on a slant. There was an iron burn in the carpet, no lock to the bathroom door, the coffee cup weren't wash properly either. We did call the day before to ask if a fridge was in the room to store the babies milk, needless to say no fridge. When one was bought to the room, it was one of those small ones for canned drinks. It was VERY noisy - useless when you have a 4 month baby to get to sleep. Now the bad is over time for the good things, The swimming pool looked tired but was clean and pleasant to use and I would have used it again. The restaurant served a very good breakfast, there was a good choice and it was always warm. We also had a lunch there, this was abit pricey but I can really recommend the steak sandwich with blue cheese sauce. The staff were always helpful, especially the duty manager on Friday, who was a star. He alone delivered the fridge and z-bed. Free wifi and the bathroom was very modern looking, however the blue lights are a no no in my honest opinion. Will we be using this hotel again? NOT A CHANCE. This place would be ok if you need to put you head down for a night and I'm sure a travel lodge or another one of those types of hotels would be better.

« This Hotel could be so good »

This hotel was built in a different era for a different market. This is no longer a captive audience in a captive market and Lavender Hotels seem to be making some of the changes necessary, but there is still a long way to go! The reception and reception area create a good 1st perception but unfortunately after that it is down hill. The bedrooms are adequate but basic. The restaurant needs a good shake up ,with attention being paid to the package they are providing. The T D H does not match up to the quality expected for the price charged and the breakfast service does not seem to be related to the guests staying in the hotel in the availability of food present.Ongoing staff training would not go amiss.

My complaint is that we had to leave!!! The staff were fantastic, welcoming and the only thing that they would not do wass read a bedtime story. Love this hotel, the food was out of this world, even an extra terrestrial from gallifrey would set the TrARDIS settings to return over and over again

    « Bar / Restaurant / Conference »

The ANME hosted it's 6th meeting here earlier in the month. Fantastic service as always, there were several other events on that day, at least one of which was quite large, and you'd never have been able to guess, the service was just as good as always. I also go the evening before to meet the companies staying over, dining with them in the restaurant, the food is always exceptional and the staff really chatty... I'll always recommend Park Hall Hotel if you're looking for a venue in the area...

    « Average »

Stayed here for 3 nights over the Easter weekend. It looks like it used to be attached to the old Camelot Theme Park which is no longer open. Check-in was quick, however we weren't in the hotel itself but in the village. The village is a drive around the hotel and is made up of a group of little white buildings. Two apartments per building. Once in the rooms were clean and spacious and newly refurbished. Bathroom well equipped however the shower was dire. We did report this, if you wanted power there was no hot water, but nothing happened while we were there. My husband chose to shower in the nearby shower rooms for he pool. The bedroom has all you need, iron, ironing board, tea making, tv, alarm clock, and a very big comfortable bed. There was some lavender pillow spray at the side of the bed but in arrival the bottle was empty and never got replaced. Our son slept well on the sofa bed in the living room area. There are heaters in both rooms. The hotel is very big and has functions, we turned up on a day that a wedding was going on. It was a sunny day so we chose to sit in the courtyard for a drink. Got a drink from the little bar, however when we wanted another the bar man seemed to have disappeared. After waiting ages and asking elsewhere we were told that the bar is into there to serve the wedding party. However no one get the need to tell us that. The drinks are very expensive too, £19 for cheapest bottle of wine. In the main bar the staff aren't very well trained and don't know the prices etc, one member of our party paid £1.00 for a packet of crisps as the staff didn't know the price. Later we found out they were 75p! I personally didn't use the swimming pool but the rest of the group did. All was fine.

First of all this place is a nightmare to get to have to get through the services to reach Hotel only way we could get to it . When we arrived we was surprised at how big it was the road around it needs doing was a few pot holes in the road leading up to hotel . Arrived with my husband and two kids . The reception staff were lovely the blonde lady was really cheery and helpful and gave us useful info on the hotel and surrounding area . Was busy when we got there as we were part of a wedding party . Got to the room was a decent sized room , clean , drinking facilities and iron there good sized beds . Had food from the bar . Had to wait a while for a drink was no staff on so had to ask the lady on reception which was soon rectified . Drinks fairly priced . The wedding room was absolutely lovely everybody had a great time at the venue . Had breakfast in the morning was sad to say the breakfast staff had slight attitude towards us they looked fairly busy and kind of rushed . Food was ok ! Had a swim in the pool before we left which were good . Clean and fairly sized this was included in price of room . If you're looking for a cheap room you won't be disappointed . Would not eat there again would probably not visit again either . Big hotel great wedding was average !

    « Park Hall Express - tired old hotel - run-down and un-clean »

Difficult to find the Express part of the hotel (the reception is in the Health Club). Very potholed driveway. Unfriendly check-in staff. Inexperienced breakfast staff. Thought I had time warped to a Butlitz Camp in the 70s. The room, although of a good size, was badly designed and not well cleaned. There were cobwebs and black mould present. The toilet leaked onto the bathroom floor. The entire look of the place was very tired and in great need of refurbishment.

« Stay spoiled by our restaurant experience »

We have enjoyed our weekend overall, but the score reflects our restaurant experience. First of all the hotel accommodation.. Room in the main hotel rather than the village, and was nice, clean and comfy bed. Bathroom was very clean, a little on the small side, but adequate for a weekend away, hot water seemed limited, and I could not get enough to run a bath, but warm enough for a shower. When we arrived the hotel was clearly busy with a wedding party, who were scattered throughout the foyer having drinks, not a problem, except when we wanted a drink, after the party goers had moved on, we had to ask reception to go and find a barman to help. That was fine, and he did come when asked, and got our drinks, but he left all the empty drinks glasses from the wedding party lying all over the tables, and just walked passed them- not really pride in the job! Last night we tried the restaurant, there were 14 people dining, and we selected a starter and main course from the a la carte menu. We were bang on time for our reservation at 8pm, found the Waitress very friendly, and we anticipated our meal eagerly. Our drinks arrived, we watched other people's starters and main courses arrive , we even saw some order dessert, but no food for us! It took exactly an hour before our starter arrived with a" sorry it's been a while" apology. A while...for heavens sake it was only goats cheese for me on a slice of ciabatta & prawns for my other half, it was nice don't get me wrong, but not exactly a stretching plate to pull together! About 5 minutes after delivery we had wolfed it down, and as there were only now 6 left in the restaurant, thought our main course would be ready..sadly not, at 9.30pm we indicated to the waitress that our patience had worn out, and she mentioned "the chef is just doing it now" . We said it was a little late and not to bother, but I do wonder how organised the chef is when service was so slow and so few in the restaurant! Overall, this did affect our perception of the hotel, and whilst breakfast is great, plentiful, well cooked and piping hot, the evening service was amongst the poorest we have seen in a long, long time.

    « Weekend away »

Having been to park hall every year as a child visiting Camelot I had lots of exciting memories so me and my partner decided on a weekend away here and my only disappointment was that Camelot is closed down. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were very clean. We stayed in the village and it was peaceful and comfortable. I was gutted upon visiting the pool to see the slide (which I loved as a child) had gone however the bigger pool and spa most certainly made up for that! My only criticism is the position of the tv as once the bed was pulled down out of the wardrobe the door blocked the way so you couldn't see it once in bed however it wasn't a major issue. Overall lovely hotel and would defo stay again :)

« Bridal suite and spa break »

Came midweek for two nights in the four poster bed room - what a lovely room - nice touches with the pillow spray and bottles of water, slippers and robes etc. Ate in the bar one night which was lovely and relaxed, second night went into the dining room but ordered bar food again. Breakfast was lovely - could be nice to have it a bit later than 9.30 (for people on an actual break) Lots of choice for breakfast. Staff where lovely - few to mention was the young lad with the sore leg - young girl with dark hair and the older lady who did breakfast for us on the Friday - I wish I'd of took their names as they where brilliant. All staff where great (except the lady at the leisure centre who didn't know how to smile) and the girls at cleopatras spa place where fabulous. Bedrooms where clean but there was a couple of questionable stains on the four poster curtains! So all in all a great stay and would definitely come back. Xx

    « Goog value - pleasant stay. »

Park Hall is an ex theme park and still has that slight feel especially with its layout. I had stayed here before a few years ago and wasn't too impressed. On this occasion I was given a newly decorated room (15A) which was fresh and comfy. The evening meal in the Lavender restaurant was tasty and they tweaked it to suit my taste however the chips were really oily, they oozed oil when touched with the fork and I couldn't eat them. The breakfast I had of kippers and poached eggs was beautiful and worth the visit in itself. A great value stay and far improved.

    « Lovely break »

Had a lovely break with a couple of friends. Hotel was clean and well decorated. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the excellent Sue and restaurant staff. Sue made us feel at home. We used the leisure facilities which were very good except for the grab bars going into the adult jaccuzzi. They came away as my husband was getting in. Maintenance did begin as soon as it was reported but it really should have been checked earlier as the moorings were very rusty. Rating would have been five if not for this.

    « Dissappointing »

We had several problems with our stay at this hotel, having arrived on a cold windy and wet evening in February we found that our room was in the village a good 5 minute walk from the main building and there was no opportunity for an upgrade. We were provided with a charge card but somebody had marked the card so that no charges were allowed on the room, that meant another trip back to the room to get my credit card after dinner. We order newspapers for Saturday and Sunday, but the Saturday one did not arrive because the check-in service did not appear to have recorded it on the "computer." However on the Sunday the paper was there but at checkout we were initially charged for both days. Finally although I did not experience any problems my wife reported that she had difficulty adjusting the TV volume and channel, she resolved it by fiddling with the remote batteries. All in all a disappointing stay. Food and service in the Restaurant was very good though.

Very nice stay at Park hall, the pool, spa changing rooms are spotless, the hotel reception and bar area are very nice, and Dan on reception was very friendly and welcoming, we stayed in the village beds were comfy bathroom is lovely, housekeeper was on hand to grab more towels off an asked us if we needed anything, thankyou kindness goes along way. However (but not a major, however!) decor needs updating but didn't ruin our stay we had a fab time.

« Two day family break »

We booked a suite in the village and basically you get what you pay for! £150 for two nights for a family of 4. I wasn't expecting much but was very disappointed. Basically its in desperate need of a refurb, there is only one small towel rad in the bathroom so with it being February the bathroom was almost uninhabitable. Ridiculously cold! The room also hadn't been cleaned properly, my eldest has a peanut allergy so the peanut on the floor next to the bed definitely didn't belong to us!! Blinds were broken and the 1"gap around the door made for a draughty sleep. Wont be returning as its just not worth the money even if it was only £150. On the plus side the breakfast and staff were all very good as were the leisure facilities.

Myself and my 4 year old daughter were invited to an evening wedding reception at the hotel on Valentines Day, I decided to stay overnight. I could see on a booking site that the hotel was full on the Saturday but rooms were available on the Sunday night. I rang the hotel direct and spoke to a very cheerful lady called Sam. I was reserved a Family room for £67.50 inclusive of breakfast and use of the Leisure Centre Sunday and Monday. Check in from 2pm. We arrived, very excited, on the Sunday afternoon at 3pm. we parked righ outside reception. The Foyer is bright and smart. Check in was swift and informative. We had room 101 on the first floor in the main hotel building. Room 101 was right at the end of the corridor. We had to move a laundry trolley which was blocking access to our room (there was a storage type room opposite our room which had the door wide open). The room was modern and bright and the beds very comfy, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and 2 bottles of water were supplied and some delicious biscuits. The bathroom was clean and well presented but there was some sort of dirt in the toilet. After a short rest we ventured over to the Leisure centre. You have to go through the Bar area and then outside through the Hotel 'village'. There were no towels available that day, possibly as the hotel had been so busy the previous day but we had brought our own. The changing rooms were ok if a little cold! £1 required for a locker key. There were 2 pools one 'chilly' one for lane swimming and a warm shaped pool for fun! There are also 2 jacuzzis (one adult only) and sauna/steam rooms and handful of Loungers. The changing rooms felt freezing on leaving the pool area but this was a plus when getting dressed as we often get hot and bothered! We had a fabulous evening in the function room, the bar staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't get to bed until very late. The beds were very comfortable but the room was too warm. I could probably have turned off the heater or opened a window but was too lazy to try. There was some noise from a generator or fans intermittently but I am a very light sleeper. The little one slept soundly and I had to wake her in the morning to go for breakfast! We arrived at the end of breakfast service at 9.30, as we mistakenly thought it finished at 10.30 (weekends only). There was still plenty of food and we were brought tea on request. After checking out at 11am we spent another couple of hours in the pool and then had a little photo shoot by the lake. A lovely stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful, a real asset to Park Hall! I think we were luck to stay on a Sunday when it was quiet, a great start to half term!

    « A concert for college »

Came to the conference centre for a college concert. The venue looked very nice on first inspection. Staff at the bar very nice and helpful. The bar area was comfortable and a good choice of drinks at the bar. The choice of bitter lacked much inspiration. However I found a black sheep which was welcome.

« Built for conferences and weddings for sure »

Has everything you could want in a hotel. The place is vast and rambling. Has a swimming pool but you have to go outside and walk right around half of the hotel to get to it. Not funny when it is gales and rain. The restaurant is OK and a bit pricey for what you get but you are a bit stuck for anywhere else to go. You can have a bar meal I think in the bar.

Staff make this good hotel great. They could not be nicer and more helpful. A great place to stay for business or pleasure as the rooms are really comfortable and have every thing you need for working or just relaxing

    « Very disappointed »

Just returned, I live only 5 miles away so know about this place and expected a lot. Last night we went to stay and have an 80s night. First off the room was comfortable. All have standards I guess, but I didn't expect a three quarters used toilet roll and the kettle half full with water that had been there who knows how long. Beyond that, the bar area is really comfortable and relaxing. A nice drink with Sky TV I was thinking about how good the meal and night would be. First off the meal. A piece of salmon cut thin, but it was OK if hot. However, like the rest it was not. Accompanying it was cold carrots and broccoli, both which you could bounce. The other part was potatoes, the only part of the meal that was hot and the only thing we could eat. The 80's part of the night was good, just that soon as the band went off it no longer remained 80s. Breakfast this morning, well the food it's self was OK. However, the plates are not warm, so your food certainly isn't hot soon after putting on the cold plate. The hotel looks superb from outside, main reason for staying was to try it. Scenery around it is super. I won't be staying here or eating here again.

Stayed here for 4 nights for a friends wedding. Right from the start the team here couldn't do enough for us. The service is excellent ! The hotel itself is huge and the grounds are lovely. The spa facilities were free to use as we were guests, and are well worth a visit. The room was clean and comfortable and a really good size. Would definitely return.

We had some quality family time in this hotel, we liked the idea of village style rooms, we knew what we wanted out of this stay, we used leisure club with pools and sauna, kids were over the moon, breakfast was lovely, staff friendly, we would come back definitely, bit pricey restaurant, but very good portions and nice food (and i am very picky) :)

« We'll come back but it could be better »

This is the third time we've stayed here as we find that the distance is just right for a stopover on the way to Scotland. We stayed on 30th December and had a family room. When we arrived there was Christmas toy packaging in the room and the bin had not been emptied. We approached reception and they sent out the duty manager who came into the room and cleared the rubbish without uttering a word! Later we found that he had dropped off some extra biscuits and bottles of water. The family pool was drained while we were there but we didn't have time to use it anyway.

    « Snowy visit »

We came for the evening part of a wedding. Rooms really big but a short walk away from the main hotel. Evening do was in the banquet hall which is beautiful. Beds not very comfy but breakfast was good. Right next to what was camelot theme park.

    « Needs a refresh! »

Great staff in all respects! Rooms a little tired and in need of redecoration, restaurant expensive but very good. Bar expensive and not always manned? Happy to continue to use this hotel for business over the coming 18 months, but will need to watch my daily allowance closely!

    « Pokey room »

For such a big place, i was surprised at the size of our room. We booked a family room which had a standard sized double bed and a single for our son. I dont think i have seen a standard sized double bed in any hotel for years now. Usually all have king sized. On entering the room, the smell was nauseous. It stunk of sweaty feet. We had to open the window which would only open an inch due to restrictors, and spray the room with perfume to try and get rid of the stink. Asked reception if they had any other rooms but they were full. We unpacked and went to meet friends in the bar which was ok. A bit on the expensive side but thats how these big chain hotels make their money. At tea time, went up to get showered ready for the evening function we were there for and found that i had to climb over the toilet to get in the bath and under the shower!!! You couldnt open the glass screen to turn the water on as it flooded the bathroom floor so you had to open it, turn the shower on then quickly close the screen again then climb over the toilet to get in. Attended a big function that evening in the main ballroom. The entertainment etc was down to the organisers of the function so that was good. The sit down meal was the hotels doing and i cant say i was that impressed. We had a choice of roast pork dinner or a veggie option. Everyone complained about the pork being full of fat. There were no condiments on the tables and parts of the menu were not present.(apple sauce). We had to ask for these things to be brought to the tables. Not good. The main course consisted of 2 slices of pork fat, 2 roast potatoes, spoonful of carrot, spoonful of cabbage and gravy. Sorry Best Western, you'll have to do better than that for the money you get. Good points. Bar stayed open late. Kids loved using the pool.

« BACK TO BAMBER BRIDGE »

A relaxing stay after a very busy couple of work days. Excellent staff, good food and a decent room, with the added bonus of the funky abandoned theme park next door - spooky! The on-site amenities are excellent, as are the surroundings.

    « One night »

Stayed overnight and was allocated a lovely large (family) room, that was warm and comfortable. Only 1 double socket on the other side of the room but ok. I can see what people are saying about the bathroom needing updating but it's 3 star and ok. Biggest criticism was that the tap don't extend over the sink properly so you're rubbing your hands against the back of the sink to catch the water!!!! I used the leisure facilities and had a shower there so didn't fully use the bathroom. Pool was lovely - absolutely no problem and quite quiet. I used the jacuzzi and that had good jets so happy with that. I didn't spot the steam or sauna rooms and they weren't signposted as such but I read other peoples' review who mention them. (I was surprised that a lady reviewed how her u16 child was allowed to use the jacuzzi - I was under the impression that no leisure facility is permitted to allow u16s to use them). I took a look at the food menu and wasn't wowed by the small choice of burger, curry, fish, and a pasta dish (I am paraphrasing) so decided to eat elsewhere. I saw someone being served and didn't think their dish looked particularly amazing. But perhaps I missed out? Overall my experience exceeded what other reviews say, and I would come back here as it was good value for money.

« Dinner was excellent, otherwise this hotel needs updating »

I have just returned from a one night stay at this hotel, which I purchased as a Christmas present for my daughter. We stayed here on a Saturday night, and included a trip to the leisure club and beauty salon, Cleopatra's, which is on site. We arrived earlier than the allotted check in time, but were allowed to check in at this time. The room seemed nice, with a double and single bed, and usual facilities. However, having made use of the facilities, we found them to be lacking. Although the room looks like it has been refurbished décor-wise, the facilities have not, in particular, the bathroom. The shower was not modern, and when I attempted to use it after my daughter, there was no hot water coming through. I ended up having a luke-warm bath, which was not at all what I expect when staying in a hotel. When I spoke to the person on reception about this, she sent someone to look at it, but they found it to be working. I was not offered any compensation for this, which I find disappointing from a customer service point of view. The carpet in the room was not clean and appeared to be covered in dog hairs! Otherwise, the room had good facilities - tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and small TV. This could have been bigger, and an integrated DVD player would have been nice, as we had hoped to watch a film. We had purchased a Groupon deal for treatments at the beauty salon which is within the leisure centre on site. We had really nice treatments here and the staff in Cleopatra's were lovely. However, the facilities in the leisure centre are in real need of a refurb too. The two pools were nice, but a little cold, and the sauna and steam were again, pleasant, but not luxurious. It was really important to us that my daughter, who is under 16, could use all the facilities, and we were quite anxious that when we arrived we would find that she couldn't. However, we needn't have worried, as she could use everything there. There are two Jacuzzis, one of which is adult-only, so at least she could use the other. She was also allowed to use the gym, which was pretty well equipped. We ate in the hotel restaurant, as I had purchased dinner, bed and breakfast. A three course meal was included (or two courses from the table d'hote menu). We thoroughly enjoyed all three courses, and the staff in the restaurant were friendly. The atmosphere was lacking a bit as it was so quiet, but at least this meant we could eat at whatever time we wanted. Breakfast was average. The food had clearly been left under hot lamps for quite a while, but there was a reasonable choice. One aspect which really spoiled our stay at this hotel was noise in the corridors at night. As this hotel caters for quite a lot of functions, and there were a number on on the night we stayed there, we were woken frequently from 12-5am by inconsiderate people banging around and shouting in the corridors. Although this is not the fault of the hotel, it is something to be aware of. Even though our room was situated at the far end of a corridor, we were still disturbed. Overall, we enjoyed our spa treatments and dinner, but I don't think I would stay at this hotel again.

    « Christmas Night Out!! »

Came here on a works christmas night out. We decided to stay the night so it wasn't too far to travel back in the evening. I had been before to a wedding held at Park Hall about 3 years ago however we never stayed over. The staff were helpful on our arrival and check in was quick. The rooms were ok, pretty basic but that was fine for a one night stay. Whilst waiting for our function room to open we went to the main bar. There was a queue of around 7 people waiting to be served and no one attending the bar for a good 15minutes we were there. We finally got our drinks when someone arrived from out the back. Apparently they hadn't noticed the queue There were numerous function rooms in use that night with different themes. It took us a while to find our function room in the dark, wind and rain, and it wasn't signposted from where we had come from but we found it in the end. We received some bucks fizz on arrival and were told that the drinks were all inclusive. There was a list of what you could drink on the tables which were in the all inclusive package. If you wanted something different you would need to pay. The wine included in the package was pretty basic, didn't taste too bad when mixed with lemonade but not the best. The food was a carvery style (just not carvery portions) there was a very long queue for it as there was only one food stand for the upstairs and one for the downstairs tables. The entertainment was ok, varied music and the DJ tried to involve the different tables in games etc. Overall the night was pretty average. Not the best christmas party venue i have been too but not the worst. I was a little disappointed as when we came to Park Hall 3 years ago for a wedding, it seemed much nicer and we had a really good time.....

    « Only a small complaint »

I loved this hotel my room was excellent and clean except for one small point. This is only a personal issue but i hate water being left in the kettle by the previous guest - one for house keeping to correct. Otherwise not a bad room rate and the food was excellent. Fantastic buffet style breakfast just wished the waitresses would smile :(

We stopped in a chalet with a ramp access and loads of room, the bathroom is setup for disabled guests. We used the swimming pool which has a ramp access. Later we visited the restaurant the food was excellent, at the end of the meal we were asked if we would like the same table for breakfast, I nice and considerate touch. We had a lovely relaxing break here and would recommend it. John and Janet

« Some Cleaners need trying in cleaning and privacy!! »

I booked two rooms over the Christmas period for five nights for me, my partner and his mum. As we entered the hotel grounds we were impressed, the reception looked lovely... Unfortunately... We were told we had been put in the rooms around the back of the hotel so we went on our way around the back. We drove around what looked like an industrial estate to arrive at what I could only describe as a motel style hotel which needs some serious updating. The staff on reception were friendly and gave us the keys to the two rooms. We checked both rooms and selected the nicest of the two for my partners mum to stay in. The rooms were not fantastic, which we could deal with if the cleanliness had been up to scratch. The room that we were in was unacceptable as a hotel room. It was dirty, uncomfortable, there was old manky screwed up paper on top of the shower, the toilet seat was wonky and loose, there were holes in the ceiling, it was very drafty, the plug sockets did not work, the main light in the bathroom did not work so the bathroom was very dark and the mugs left by the manly kettle were still dirty from previous guests. We went back to reception the ask if there were any other rooms available that were at a better standard as we were seriously uncomfortable in this room. There were not many rooms available but they did move us to a different room that we were more comfortable in and at first glance seemed cleaner. However, at closer inspection there were old used a manky fake eyelashes stuck to the bedside table, and one of the towels seems to be used as it was covered in makeup or fake tan. By this time were just wanted to get settled and relax a little bit so we just decided to let this go and not complain. We then decided to eat in the main hotel restaurant, it looked lovely and full of potential to be really good. However the food was just satisfactory considering the price and one waitress seemed miserable and didn't care about being polite. Again we decided to just ignore this and try to relax. We did not enter this restaurant again. After two days of staying in the hotel we were eating breakfast in the room of my partners mum when there was a knock on the door from the cleaners. I answered that we did not want room service yet as the room was still occupied. Afterwards I spotted one of the cleaners and mentioned that my room did not need room service but I asked for a few things such as milk, I also mentioned that my partners mum had now left the room and would like some room service while she is out. I asked politely and this particular cleaner was polite in return. However as I then passed again after putting things into my room the original cleaner that had knocked on the door greeted me with 'so she wants her room cleaning now does she?' In quite a rude tone.... She then stormed away and kicked the door open to the room. As I had asked very politely I felt very disappointed that I got this reaction. On Christmas Eve we went out for the day and this was the first time I put the 'room service' sign up by my room. As we walked back into the room that evening we could see that someone had been in there as the curtained had been opened and the bin had been emptied. But the bed had not been made, and the milk had not been replenished. This in itself did not bother us too much until we noticed that my partners suitcase had been unzipped, nothing had been taken but it had been opened. I then checked inside my suitcase and it did seem as though someone had rummaged through it as my watch was upside down in the case which I had definitely not done myself and other things had moved. I then noticed that the cleaners had taken the pound that I had been using for the lockers, this would have been ok... If they had done their job properly. But it wasn't finished.. As we went to bed we noticed that one of the pillows had been taken away, I have no idea why a cleaner would remove a pillow and leave us with three...? As I was then looking around the room for a pillow, we checked under the bed incase it had fallen and instead we found a previous guests bra!! (If management is reading this it may be worth checking if it has been removed yet - room 66A). Other that this the gym and spa was ok, may just needs a little bit of updating. I think the hotel needs a spruce up and maybe some extra training on cleaning and privacy rights of guests to some of the cleaners. Most of the reception staff seems very nice and polite. Expect for the member of staff who was working on Boxing Day morning as we checked out. She seemed very keen to get rid of us and did not asked me how was the stay, if she had asked my this they may have had the opportunity to discuss my concerns before I felt the need to write this review. I will not be staying here again and I do not recommend it to anyone unless it gets a serious injection of updating, training and enthusiasm.

    « Christmas Party Cheer! »

I attended a medieval themed night at this hotel last week for a work Christmas party. The party began with drinks in the bar (where the drinks were fairly priced), then we moved into the dinner hall for our medieval banquet. Both the food and the entertainment were very good, and everyone in the room was having a good time. After food and a bit of dancing, we moved to the nightclub which opened at 1.15am. Although there weren't many people in the nightclub, it didn't matter as the songs were good and it was open until the very early hours! One thing to note was that the club did not take card, so make sure you withdraw enough money before arriving at the hotel. The next day there was a brilliant breakfast to help cure the inevitable hangover - highly recommended! Overall, myself and my work colleagues had a superb time and I'm sure we will return again next year!

« Another Fantastic Christmas Party »

We have been to Park Hall Hotel for our work Christmas party for the last few years and there is no where else quite like it. The entertainment choice is excellent, the food is good quality and caters for all and the 'after party' goes on until 4am! There is a wide choice for breakfast to help with the hangover and I spent some time in the spa to further aid the recovery. We took around 90 people this year for the Medieval night from our Lancaster, London and Bristol offices. All thoroughly enjoyed it and said it was well worth the travel to get there. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel for a work Christmas party.

Attended a Xmas party here and spent the night in the hotel. The party was well catered for with good food. Plenty of space and unlike in other venues people were not crammed in to maximise profit. Good service and no long waits at the bar. Room was fine, large, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and efficient.

    « Brits is a miss »

Christmas party at the Brit awards themed function. Came here last year for the medieval night which was a great deal better. The Brits theme was very poor with not a lot of theme to it and felt extremely random. The singers we ok with only one that was to a good standard. Food was nice but very small portions. I would not recommend this theme for future events. The hotel is pleasant and clean but the rooms need bringing up to the requirements that customers demand these days. The staff, although, pleasant were very limited at the bar with only three serving over 400 people. The pool area also could do with modernising and the hot tubs degunging, but can't moan as complimentary use is given. Overall a Christmas party that was made by those in the group and not the entertainment paid for.

« Good xmas party venue »

Stayed here for the second year running. I stayed in one of the bungalows again, the site is abit dated but the rooms are very clean with good beds and linen. The bathroom had been refurbished and again was clean. The bar area is well laid out, the drink prices are expensive which is a negative. The food served was excellent for a xmas party, served hot and good quality. The breakfast is excellent value for money and the restaurant area is well laid out. The best feature of this hotel is the staff, the reception, bar and restaurant staff are excellent, they were professional, helpful and welcoming. I would return again.

    « ok Hotel »

stayed her on business and this hotel is just ok, very nice surroundings but the hotel is a bit soulless, check in was very friendly and could not fault this. I was allocated a chalet to the side of the hotel, this was very dated and to be honest i did not like it at all. I ate in the bar area for dinner which was dull wide open and not very comfortable place to eat, i know they have a restaurant but just wanted to sit in the bar eat and relax. Dont think i will be looking to stay in the hotel again

    5
    « Christmas night out »

The hotel was lovely, staff friendly and room spacious warm and clean. Food was nice breakfast lovely. If I have a negative it's the little chair lift to avoid 6 steps I was wheeled on in my wheelchair but no one was around with the key so I got out my chair and walked up the steps with my crutches.

    « Excellent Experience »

The whole experience was first class from Daniel on Reception who is a credit to the hotel, to the staff in the Restaurant. I was upgraded to a suite as I am a Best Western Platinum member and could not have been more impressed. The pool area is very good and I enjoyed my swim. Well done everybody.

    « OK Hotel »

Hotel is set in lovely grounds. Some parts of hotel and rooms are in need some rejuvenation. The staff were always polite and friendly and. We stayed for 4 nights and despite earlier comments on trip advisor we felt perfectly safe. We ate in the hotel bar one night and food was tasty and quick.  There is not much more to say but there is definitely room for improvement at this hotel but was fine as a base for our break and is an excellent base for Lancashire and the South Lakes as 2 mins from M6.

We went for our works Christmas party and decided to book a room, and boy we made the right choice, clean comfortable and friendly. We went on an all inclusive basis, the food was top notch as Was the service, the only fault we could find was the bar staff were a bit disorganised, our room WOW spotless and very comfortable and had everything we could need.

« still loking for the BEST western »

Below average hotel group with above average prices, friendly staff with little ability to help you with a problem they can't rectify for them selves. This is the second hotel in this group I have stayed with in the last 12 months and it looks like they stopped refurbishing 20 years ago. INSIST on a room within the hotel as the annexed rooms are well past their BEST western.

Even though you are close to the m6 motorway we could have been in the Lakes. Never did we hear any traffic noise and the lakes are a lovely walk after a huge well cooked breakfast. We are looking to return in the Autumn to sample what looked like a great menu.

Staying here for 4 nights and it was horrendous.first room was filthy hairs in the bed crumbs all over the floor got the room changed the next one wasn't much better ceiling tiles looked damp had a shower and flooded the floor because the seal was leaking had to get the staff to do my key card every night because it wouldn't work put my towels in the bath to be changed they just folded them up and put them back paint coming off the walls in the bathroom never cleaned up very poor house keeping I think the beds are original from when the place was built on a good note the staff on reception were very friendly and helpful

« The one and only stay »

When you walk into the reception you get the WOW feeling that you've walked into a special place. The reception staff were friendly enough but all the hospitality finished once you step foot into the room. The room was small dark and dank. The false ceiling tiles were water marked and broken in places. All surfaces were dirty and hadn't been dusted in gods knows how long. The bath was broken with sealant missing from both round the bath and the bath itself, onto os this the sink unit moved. The evening meal provided was OK if you weren't hungry with very small portion sizes. Drinks at the bar were needless to say in line with most hotels.....Overpriced as they have adaptive audience. The breakfast was the only part of the stay which was what you'd expect.....buffet style so you could help yourself. Staff were generally pleasant, but the waiting staff in the restaurant didn't exactly show urgency apart from when it came to clearing tables!!! In all a 3 course meal folioed by coffee in 30 mins.....apart from the coffee as the cups were taken away before it was served. Would I stay here again.....No

    « Really impressed! »

I was here for a function so had no choice over location and I wasn't looking forward to staying at this hotel after reading some of the reviews, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived this weekend and saw how nice it was! First impression at Reception was good, the hotel looked really nice, and the guy on check in was so lovely, had a very pleasant manner and was very welcoming. We were staying in the Village chalets, in the furthest ones away from reception which was a bit of a walk away but we didn't really mind (and I actually broke my toe during my stay and the walk was still manageable!). The room was a decent size, and had a double and two single beds, which were all comfortable. The lavender pillow spray next to the bed was a lovely touch - I really think the little things make a difference! Small TV on the wall and a nice selection of tea/coffee/bottled water and biscuits. The bathroom was stunning. It looked brand new and lovely blue spot lighting. Plenty of soft fluffy towels. Free Wifi in the room was great, not super fast, but enough to check emails and browse the web. Breakfast in the morning was buffet style, and I thought was really nice. Plenty to choose from. Toast made fresh and brought to your table was nice - I hate those toasters you have to use yourself and stand around waiting for! Didn't get time to use the leisure facilities but the pool did look lovely. Would defo recommend this hotel, defo ask one of the newer rooms - I stayed in Room 47.

    « Express »

I stayed one night in the Park Hall Express. These are old fashioned Butlins style rooms. The outer door lock on my room didn't work. The carpet was badly stained. The wifi did not work in my room. The shower wouldn't even turn on. I note they are refurbishing rooms, shame I was stuck in an old one, I paid £40 which is cheap and I don't expect much but clean and secure are essential, this room was neither. The main hotel was good. The food I had was good.

    « Pleasant hotel »

I used this hotel as s base for a couple days exploring the local area. The rooms were clean and comfortable but there was no information pack in the room, a minor issue but little things make a difference. The fitness centre was well equipped and the equipment was of a good quality. Slightly oddly I had to take my room towel as the spa had run short but as I had three sets just for me this was no issue. Breakfast was served in the restaurant with the cooked elements ordered and waitress served, rather than being self service buffet. The food was good but the coffee was dire. Would I return? Yes. You get what you pay for and this wasn't expensive for the facilities it offered.

    « Family break »

In a family chalet, clean and tidy, allotted,TV could have been bit bigger.Bar expensive but staff good.Pool area bit dated and not as clean as I hoped, changing rooms freezing and didn't like cameras in spa!But ok break away

    « Average hotel »

Very average hotel that needs some serious refurbishment. Really suffering after the theme park has closed. The room was small and not overly clean. The bar prices even for a hotel were extortionate! We will not be returning again! Although the staff were really nice and helpful especially reception.

« This is about Park Hall 'Express' »

It is important to know that if you are booked into a 'budget' room you won't be at the Hotel but accommodated in one of a number of 'chalet' style constructions, which in our case housed two rooms. We didn't realise the implications of being in the budget room until we arrived and were directed to behind the hotel. We had also arrived in the dark - which wasn't a good idea. We were told to look for Car Park 6 - but we didn't see any signs for Car Park 6 but guessed it would be between 5 & 7. The 'car park' was very poorly lit, had massive potholes and looked more like some derelict land than a car park. We had been told to check-in at the leisure club which we did. Our room had a peculiar smell to it but, in fairness, was clean. It looked a bit 'dated' and the large windows looked onto the path used by (lots of) people who weren't hotel guests but were going to and from the leisure club. Again in fairness the wifi was very good but we spent the first minutes of using it looking for somewhere else to stay! In the end we were just too tired to go somewhere else. Since the (old) window was only single glazed and faced onto the path it was pretty noisy and when people spoke in other rooms it sounded as though they were in our room. We usually like to sleep with a window open but the only opening window was one which opened to the full height of the window and opening it would have been very insecure. In fact the best summary of our (one night) stay is that we felt very insecure from the moment we arrived until, with some relief, we left ? never to return!

    « Dump »

We stopped for all of 10 min, although the room or should I say chalet was advertised as non smoking the room stank of stale cigarette smoke, the carpet hadn't been cleaned and was filthy, the bathroom was totally dated and the extractor fan was very loud, talking of which the chalet next door may as well been in our room as they were very noisy. It was a total waste of my hard earned money, as we moved on to another hotel, we definitely wont be returning, I would sooner sleep in my car. Even though this is classed as a budget room, it should still have standards and be clean.

    « Very pretty hotel »

This is a very pretty hotel, rooms are clean, village rooms are very good, don't bother with breakfast though, plates were filthy dirty, they could not cater when the hotel was busy, very nice location. Swimming pools is good, but they had kids lessons taking up all the children's pool, so my daughter never got to swim, which is terrible as this is one of the reasons we booked this hotel.

    « Grotty »

We are currently staying in The Village. Our blind fell down as we entered the room, there are cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, the place is horrendously outdated and smells of damp. To be avoided. I'm sure the main hotel is lovely, but don't stay in The Village.

    « Wedding weekend »

Me and my wife had our wedding breakfast and reception at this venue. We had Angie who had sorted everything out running up to our big day and was really helpful when sorting out any issues we wanted to raise i stayed at the hotel the night before my wedding with my 2 year old son and was able to check out late before moving to the bridal room which was superb the first room i had was great comfy and specious my son had enough room to play with is toys while breakfast opens a little later on weekends but as my son likes to have his breakfast before it opened i was given a box of cereal of choice a bowl the night before and was able to go to reception for some milk at 6am so he could have is breakfast the food was amazing at breakfast the service was brilliant at all times from bar staff to reception staff i couldn't fault them. then for the big day all guests where created with a glass of bucks fizz or bottle of beer the glasses where put laid out in our initials which i thought was a nice touch we where then led into the wedding breakfast by john our host for the day john was brilliant the day ran smoothly and everyone was seemed to enjoy the day the food was excellent and the service was brilliant i can not fault the hotel or the staff for the way the day went it was so smooth anyone who is thinking of getting married here i say go for it we choose this venue for the lake and other nice photo areas and it was just the most amazing day so thank you to all staff involved

    « what an improvement »

well the hotel has improved a lot going on the past reviews we had a very comfortable clean room in the main building, wonderful breakfast and helpful welcoming staff, good location for Blackpool and Southport nice rural setting - nothing to complain about

    « Friendly and comfortable »

We had a two night stay at the hotel. It isn't in Chorley itself, but is in a rural location. The reception and bar area are really pleasant and nicely decorated. The staff were really friendly and helpful: we arrived early and they made the effort to get our room ready quickly. Our room was very pleasant. You often get a double room with a camp bed squeezed into the corner when staying with a child, but this was a proper triple room, very spacious. There was a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board plus tea making facilities. The room was cleaned daily, although they were very busy after a pageant and were quite late coming round on the first full day. We used the leisure facilities: the gym, pool and sauna. They were fine, although the pool area was looking a little tired. The leisure pool was warm, but the changing rooms were freezing. We had breakfast and the food and service were good. We were a bit later down on the second morning (about 9 am) and they had run out of a couple of things by then. All in all, we had a pleasant stay and I would recommend the hotel.

« Butlins Style (Off site) Village accommodation! »

We booked a 3 night stay in the Hotel, but we didn't actually stay in the Hotel, we were put in a room about a 2-3 min walk in what can only be described as dated 'Butlins' style accommodation. Parking facilities for 'the village' area only are very poor (especially if you have a lot of luggage like us). The Hotel itself is nice, and our 'village' bathroom was nice, however it's a shame that the whole bathrooms haven't been completely modernised, as part of the room with the sink in is still a bit dated still. The rooms themselves we're ok, but nothing special and a bit tired. We had a draft coming through the door and our bed sagged in the middle. The internet was non existent and a waste of time. The breakfast was very nice and had a good selection of hot and cold food and the waiting staff were very nice & helpful. However there were issues with service.

    « Home from home »

I'v been staying in the main hotel which Jeanette kindly organised for me, we have two rooms and they are both spotless, the girls work so hard keeping the rooms really nice for your stay ,the staff are so fantastic , Hannah looks after us really well in the restaurant and Neil is to hand for anything you may need help with on reception .All staff are extremely hard working and very attentive. The food in the restaurant is out of this world. My experience so far has been a good one so don't let bad reviews put you off the main hotel, I'm staying a while longer so I will put another review on before I leave which I'm sure will concur with this review.

« Check the room you have been allocated »

Got to hotel ... Eventually found room after poor direction from reception. It was not in the main hotel, it was like a Butlins chalet. Returned to reception and were offered three more rooms all equally small and pokey. Eventually the reception manager helped by find us a superb hotel ,although slightly dearer it was a world away from this hotel. Advise ring direct and check the location of the room you have selected.

« What an absolute dive!!! »

After spending three weeks working away and lodging here i can well and truly say the staff are the most un helpful people ive ever met they must of been picked off the street. The food takes over an hour to come out and after being told that they were very busy in the restaurant so theres a back log i went to have a look and after 4 consecutive nights there was never more than 10 people eating in there. My room wasnt serviced on several occasions no clean sheets no clean towels. My toilet seat wasnt even attached to the toilet it was on the floor. There price of beer is what can only be deacribed as london prices. This hotel isnt extremely dissapointing and isnt worth 1 star let alone 5

Nice clean hotel with very friendly staff, set in lovely grounds overlooking a lake. We did not use the leisure facilities but these were available up till 1600 hrs. on day of check out. Very easy to reach from M6.

    « Amazing »

We stayed in the village complex and after reading reviews on here we panicked and wanted to cancel. SOOO glad we didn't, the chalets are beautiful and absolutely spotless. 16 of us went for the tribute night and had 8 rooms between us. Staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable including putting all our rooms together bringing room service and lots of ice buckets for us too. :-) the food was easily with in the top 5 meals all of us have had. Pools, spas etc were lovely. Lots of bars to choose from as you walk round the complex! Breakfast was lovely too, a massive selection and again the staff were amazing bringing tea coffee etc over to the tables. We have all said we would love to go again. Please don't listen to the bad reviews on here they're b******t :-) we nearly cancelled because of the bad reviews such a good job we ignored them. No pleasing some people!

    « Better than expected.. »

After parking up outside the main reception we went and checked in. This was done quickly and the people behind the desk were friendly which is always a good start. Only thing was we had brought all our bags with us to then be told we were situated in the village.. So off we went back to the car and drove round to the other side. The hotel backs onto the old Camelot theme park which looks interesting. It's all blocked off and you can't really gain access. Shame really as it did look like it could've been quite good in its prime. After parking up we went to our room which was situated in one of the 'village blocks'. Upon entry we were greeted by a large living space with plasma TV on the wall and a sofa, the bed was huge, no idea what size it was but you could've fit four people in ha! Bathroom was modernised so first impressions were great. Room could've done with a bit more care in cleaning as there were a few hairs in the bath so that hadn't been cleaned and fingerprints around the bathroom were clear to see. Just a bit of a touch up here and there and you couldn't fault the room one bit. Overall it was a good stay for one night and yes I'd go back again but only if we were guaranteed the village room. However after reading the reviews on here some of the village rooms may not be to the same standard so just be careful what you get as you could be paying the same price as someone with a room as nice as mine!

    « Business Trip »

Excellent hotel with great views. Polite and friendly staff with excellent food. The decor is very nice and i have stayed here a couple of time. It sits of the edge of the abandoned Camelot Theme park which you can see the old roller-coaster if you look up. The rooms are very nice and spacious. I will always make a point of coming back here when i am up that way in the UK.

    « Great value »

i stayed here just for the one night,to attend a wedding being held here. Reception is smart and the staff process you very quickly. I was staying in the annex .This involved a drive through the now defunct Camelot car parks . The room was really comfortable and very clean. The bed was queen sized.everything you need from a hotel room is catered for . I have paid a lot more for rooms not as good. So great value

    « Potential missed »

This offered so much and missed the mark. Hotel looked good but the surrounding land, part of the hotel complex, was in need of tidying up. The room could have been good but the lighting was bad leaving the lounge area dowdy. The food is best epitomised by the breakfast with the buffet looked as if it was dumped on the hot plate The black pudding seemed as if it was all cooked up for the start of service and then allowed to stand there and dry out. Just disapointed with what could have been great being average.

« Good hotel, excellent location, great staff »

I stayed at the Best Western, got a good room rate by booking with an online agency, however the room I had booked was not for me, the hotel upgraded me without question and the receptionist was such a lovely woman. The hotel is really close to the M6 but up a winding country lane and the scenery around the hotel is lovely. I used the leisure centre for swimming. Glad I booked here, will go back

« Main Hotel is OK »

Stopped here on a business trip. As a few on here have commented, the main hotel is modern and nice, HOWEVER I was given a "room" in the village complex, which was a fair distance from the hotel bar and restaurant. The room was in need of a refurb but was clean enough. We ate in the bar and the food was good and reasonable priced. Staff were all very pleasant. The main disappointment was being in the Holiday camp like village, we were lucky it was a nice and dry day or else the walk to the restaurant/bar would not have been. Would only stay here again if i was in the main hotel.

Great stay, staff were great, friendly & helpful, food was excellent, we used the half board option and could have had three courses from the table d'hote menu but chose the allowance from the a la carte but it's nice to have the choice, spacious room with good wifi, room was spotless , would definitely stay again.

    « Comfortable - a little tired »

We stayed for 1 night before a conference. We went swimming in the spa - used the lanes pool - it was absolutely freezing and the floor in the changing rooms wasn't very clean. After eating in town we sat in the bar and chatted with friends - the prices were typical hotel. The service was good and it was nice and quiet. The room was big enough, comfy enough - just a little tired. Wifi / internet worked well. The breakfast was nice enough. The conference went well and the staff worked very hard to accommodate all our needs - top marks for that one! Sadly the walkways to the conference room were not the best - dirty doors, tired carpets that needed glue to make them safe, damaged walls... I totally understand why it's not had a makeover for a while with the closure of the theme park next door - but it does need a wash and brush up.

    « Had a great weekend »

I stayed in The Village accommodation with friends. I liked the community-feel layout of the 'little houses'. Our room had recently been decorated and the carpet was new. My bed was comfortable. The room was clean. Some areas of the hotel look a little tired, but improvements have been made since the last time I visited The Park Hall Hotel. Most of the waiters/waitresses are quite young (perhaps students) but they were obviously trying their best to provide a good service. I have been to a conference before at this venue, and would definitely return again in the future.

    « Enjoyable weekend away »

I took my mum away for the weekend at this hotel and we had a really nice weekend. We stayed in the village part which was handy for the leisure club. The room was comfortable and clean. The beds were comfy and the facilities were good. The village is not like a conventional hotel as it is a chalet type complex with little bungalows. It was different but the rooms had everything you needed. My only grumble was that you could easily hear the next door room, so if you had noisy neighbours that could become an issue. Although the leisure club looked old and tired in areas, it had everything you needed. It was good to have an adult only pool to do lengths and the Jacuzzis, sauna and steam room were lovely. I didn't have a £1 coin for the locker and the receptionist borrowed me one - all the staff in all areas were very professional and helpful. We decided to book for the Faulty Towers dinner show and we were not disappointed at all. The show was hilarious and the food was really nice. Again, the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We had a fab night. We found the weekend to be good value for money and we would definitely return to this hotel. Its location is ideal for the Lakes, Blackpool, Liverpool etc. We had a really nice weekend and could have stayed another night to be honest. Many thanks.
